Came here for breakfast and had a great time! The service was EXCELLENT and was the standout. They had outdoor seating which was perfect for a warm fall morning in CT The food was good! I particularly liked the pomme rosti and would recommend it, with the eggs and side salad. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also very refreshing. They are very kid friendly.

Bistro V is the first French restaurant I’ve ever visited, and like many of the Greenwich Ave restaurants, everything was top tier! First, I want to give a shout out to the bartender, because he made one of the best mocktails I’ve had! It was a fruit punch one and made me feel like I wasn’t missing out by not drinking. All of the food was delicious, and the highlights for us were definitely the short rib and the chicken paillard. We also had some of the best chocolate truffles we’ve ever had for dessert! I totally want to come back for breakfast/brunch, and I think their pastries must be amazing too based on the quality I experienced in everything else. Love the bistro feel and how cozy the restaurant was!

Had a lovely time - they had a live singer playing throughout brunch today. The steak pillarcard is excellent but the clam linguine wasn’t. The clams were so tiny u could barely see it. Lots of butter sauce but not much flavor. However the service is good and the atmosphere is excellent. I enjoyed our time there for sure. There is a little bakery upfront where people ordered pastries - we didn’t have any but it did look good - will return for sure to try something else

Step into the world of French elegance with our review of Bistro V, a stunning dining destination in Greenwich, CT. This upscale spot delivers not only exquisite flavors but also an atmosphere enriched by unique art and design. The full food reveiw is on YouTube. We started with the beautifully plated Tuna Tartare and crispy Calamari. For the mains, we savored the tender Duck Confit, perfectly paired with asparagus and sweet potato, and the mouthwatering Steak Frites, elevated by a rich mushroom topping. The cocktails were just as captivating as the food! We tried the Spicy Margarita and a mezcal drink featuring wine and a shishito pepper. The server introduced a fun ritual: stir the drink with the pepper, make a wish, and take a bite. If the pepper is sweet, your wish will come true; if it's spicy, better luck next time! Bistro V's ambiance is as charming as its cuisine, featuring art by the same talented artist who designed the menu covers. The pièce de résistance? A breathtaking chandelier made from vintage champagne bottles, adding a unique touch to the sophisticated decor. If you're looking for an unforgettable French dining experience with a creative twist, Bistro V is a must-visit!

Adorable place! Ordered two delicious fruit tarts...they were absolutely incredible! It was super lively and busy, even on a rainy Saturday! I would highly recommend for their pastries.

I arrived, asked the nice girl at the bar if I could sit there, no problem, she recommended the mushroom omelette and it was fantastic. Pleasantly surprised. Greenwich doesn't have many good places for breakfast, but this is one of them.

This place was great! I got the Bistro V Special and the hash browns were really good! They were not greasy at all and tasted like they were baked rather than fried. We ended the meal with a raspberry Tart which was really good to. Whenever you go I recommend getting any of the desserts, they all looked amazing.

Simply wonderful brunch. The mimosas are delicious. The staff is very thoughtful and attentive. A brunch is a must!

Would this place still be a 5 if it weren't on Greenwich Ave? May be not! But it didn't matter because my son had two orders of fish taco and he really liked it. Croque monsier was also very good. It was so rich I was glad I skipped the eggs. The weakest link was omelet. Tara had mushroom omelet and it was just OK. Servers were very nice.

Very nice restaurant with outdoor seating. Waitor (didn't catch his name) was pleasant and cheerful. Three member band added to the ambiance. Sound was not offer bearing, at perfect conversation level. Cocktail was on point. Cheers to the bartender. Steak Fritas nice size piece of NY strip. Cooked to perfection. Buddha bowl was tasty but lacking a bit more flavor. Just not sure what. Maybe little more balsamic glaze. Dinner was otherwise overall perfect. Staff did not rush. Took our times eating and enjoying the mood. Definitely would go again.

Very nice place. We were walking around the town and decided to stop by because my husband was hungry. It was 11:30am brunch time. Ordered guacamole and chips. Fresh and tasty. The bread was really good too. My husband ordered the pan roasted chicken with brussel sprouts, asparagus, cherry tomatoes and red pepper. The taste was out of this world. Coffee was good too. Nice service and good atmosphere. I recommend!

Our favorite place for Sunday brunch or any night of the week. Live music adds to the upbeat and vibrant atmosphere. Great service and management…they appreciate their customers. We love the refreshing cocktails and good food. Always happy to come back!

Even though the menu is a bit “tired”, the food is consistently tasty and well prepared. Portions are just the right size as well. What I really like about Bistro V though is the service and atmosphere. It’s just the perfect place for a weekday dinner (or weekend) where you get excellent service and it’s easy to talk to (and hear) your dinner companions. I go with my family at least once a month and it’s like going to a good friend’s house. Welcoming, with good food and a warm and inviting atmosphere.

My parents and I had a few appetizers, drinks and coffee today at Bistro V. Overall the experience was very pleasant with the live band contributing positively to the lively yet not too overwhelming atmosphere. Additionally, the food and drinks were tasty and were delivered in a timely manner and the staff was friendly. Our only bit of constructive feedback is that near the end of our meal even as we asked for refills of our beverages we were asked 5 or so times within ten minutes (no exaggeration) if everything was okay. We felt as if we were being rushed out which we would have understood if there was a line or if all tables were taken, but there was no line and the two adjacent tables next to us had just freed up. We had only been at the venue for about 30 minutes in total and so it just seemed strange to feel so rushed at the end especially after having ordered some more beverages. This is only a minor observation; We would definitely come back to this eatery again and would very much recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a place to dine, drink and enjoy some live music.

You’ll feel like you’re in a bistro in Paris. Went on a weekday lunch and had a perfectly cooked omelette with mushrooms and carmelized onions, with crispy frites and a generous salad. I’ll have to come back for dinner!

Solid classic dishes for any occasion! We enjoyed the appetizers and mains! I got the fish tacos which were nice! The chunky guacamole appetizer was a great starter. This is one of the better restaurants on Greenwich ave

August 2024 - Deciding to pick a different restaurant from our usual spot in Greenwich, we chose Bistro V. Described as a French restaurant, the menu is really not that French, but it does have something for everyone. Noon on a Saturday, the majority of my tablemates wanted brunch. One ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was cooked perfectly, in that for me, the eggs were not so runny the plate was full of yolk. Another ordered the three egg omelette of the day which our wait staff told us there wasn't one but any of their many ingredients could be chosen to taste. The two cheeses offered were goat and cheddar. The meat option was bacon. Multiple vegetables were available. The omelette ingredients were cheddar, bacon, raw onion (over caramelized), mushrooms and green pepper. Seated in the middle of the room, I had a view of the kitchen, and was surprised to see a kitchen staff member pick up the upper fold of the omelette with a bare hand to see if the ingredients inside were correct, but since the person eating it after hearing this didn't care, I will leave it to readers if they do or not. I chose the classic Croque Monsieur sandwich as the only item I could find that was actually French. All three dishes were satisfying. I'd say the Eggs Benedict was the winner. An omelette is an omelette, and my Croque Monsieur which I only ate half of was good, but I'm not sure I would order it again. The ham used was higher quality. All three meals came with mesclun. In terms of drinks, they did not have the Heineken one of our party would have preferred, so he had a Corona they served with the proper glass and a slice of lime. My green gimlet was perfect with a crisp mint leaf floating on top. With my sandwich, I had a Lyons Sauvingnon Blanc that complimented my sandwich in the best way. We did not have a starter, dessert or coffee. The vibe is casual and easy. Staff is very attentive. Many paintings on the walls are for sale. There is outdoor seating on and off the sidewalk. A beautiful day, the outside area off the sidewalk with couches and tables was full.

Great place food and people watching. Enjoyed a glass of wine while I waited for my order and basked in the sun on this fine afternoon. My only complaint about the place is that the waiter I had was not very tentative and more than once I had to get the attention of a helper to get my needs met.

Clean and nice environment. Some of the staff were nice, while others were just doing their job like machines. The food was good but was a bit pricey.

Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Service was prompt. We had the chicken BLT and an omelette. The sandwich was loaded and tasty. It came with fries that I wasn’t aware of but would have preferred the option to switch to a side salad. The omelette was good. They had a bottle of water on the table. The restaurant was busy but not too loud or anything. The person on the door wasn’t particularly welcoming and I found it weird the first question asked was “Do you want coffee with cream?” But otherwise I’d go again.

We came to Bistro V for a weekend brunch and dined outside. There was some shade and it was nice to sit outside. I love lobster rolls in CT and decided to try this one. It was covered in sauce, though, and you couldn’t taste the freshness of the lobster. The french fries tasted like they’d been sitting there, too. If you’re looking for a good lobster roll, I’d recommend going elsewhere.

M
Melissa Wu

Great staff, nice environment with great bar seating. Loved that they allowed me to change the salad to fries. Had ham and cheese omelette and croque monsieur. Omelette was good, croque monsieur could’ve been good but the inside of the sandwich was cold, cheese was still intact and not melted.

Went here one time a few weeks ago really liked it so ordered a salad for pick up. The quality of food is good and it tasted good but this salad is absolutely not worth $30… if you want a quick salad next time save your money and go to sweet green. Great service/ friends staff though.

Food took a LONG TIME to come The restaurant was half empty 40 min for starters 1h 10 min for main course. Food is ok, nothing special.

M
Melvin Cabezal

Service could be improved, the waitstaff need to pay more attention to the guests, instead of chatting with the other staff and the manager at the front door. We kept asking other staff to do his job but they kept denying us service because it could only be him. Refills and additions took longer to get Than usual.

S
Shion Ishihara

We were visiting from NYC and stopped by at this restaurant. Drinks and basic clam pasta were fine but steak tartar was not fresh at all. It was stinky and discolored. We let the waiter know that the dish wasn’t edible for the reasons. She tried to convince us that it’s freshly made and nothing wrong with it.

R
Robert W. Reeder IV

Horrible service every time we’ve been here. Servers are a bit stuck up. Surprising because the food is relatively mediocre; you can walk a block in either direction and get a better meal

B
Betty D

Used to be 5 stars. Now 2. Food is still good. Service is hit or miss. Some servers are fine others are arrogant and not customer centric. Many people rubbernecking trying to get attention. $9 for a few slices of avacado. Extremely loud. Prices have risen to where it’s not worth it. Same as many restaurants these days but regardless not worth it as it seems it’s now more about profit then customer satisfaction. Over $70 for two Buddha bowls with a little chicken? No. Last time I was there we were wrapping up after a reasonable amount of time and we’re asked to leave because someone was waiting for our table. I’ve never been outright asked to leave a restaurant while trying to pay the check.

I normally like this place and will come back but today, no good. Wanted a simple quiche and salad. The quiche was clearly from yesterday and was over heated dried out and rock hard. The salad was wilted lettuce that came out with no dressing. Had to ask for dressing. Kitchen still on vacation.

A
Andy Tanenhaus

Beautiful Saturday, a little too much sun. Think we got the only table with no shade. Hamburger ordered medium came out raw. No problem, waited 20 minutes for replacement but It also came out raw. Chicken BLT had no flavor. Service was ok.

B
Bee Gill

Wow. So surprised given the solid reputation . They forgot to put our order in, then denied it and said there was a just a wait (even though people sat down after us, ordered, and were eating when we asked), and then were arguing with us - both the waitress and the manager. Then when we got the food the manager apologized and said he would get our deserts. They they brought us a fruit tart, which we did not order, and told us they could not give us a desert menu nor tell us what deserts were available… and when I noted that I was allergic to blueberries, I was scolded by both the waitress and the manager that as soon as I sat down I should have recited all of my allergies. I just wanted to pick out a desert, rather than them picking out something for me. Nope, our fault again. Finally said bring the bill as I didn’t want to be argued with and scolded. Really? Have to say, for two pretty chill people, this was the worst restaurant experience ever in my life. Someone should put the manager and waitress into “how to be a normal nice person camp” for a month, and then a two week follow up concentration on basic restaurant service manners. Would really hope the owner reads this. Just happened today on Father’s Day.

On 10/17/2024, my family and I had the misfortune to visit this simply awful place, which left me with very bad memories. I ordered a medium rare steak and got a well-done steak that was burnt and hard, when I asked the waiter what he brought me I got the answer that it was a medium rare steak. I have never tasted such a tasteless hard, dry and bad steak in my life. My daughter ordered bolognese pasta, but the minced meat in the dish was bitter and tasteless, so she ate only the pasta and left all the minced meat on the plate. The salad that my wife ordered was not included in the order at all, so we ordered it again. Also, the most outrageous thing is that I did not leave a tip and they added 20% to themselves and took it off my card without my knowledge. I will never eat at this place again and I don't recommend you to visit this eatery. It looked like a decent place, but the food was terrible. There are much better places on Greenwich Avenue where the food is delicious. My advice to you is not to go to this place, avoid it and you will save all the time and money!

I mean the food is on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 5. The meat is of terrible quality. The New York steak was very jittery, the bourguignon felt like it had been frozen for many days. The sauces are basic, even the waitress. I saw from the door that she was eating the French fries. A short waitress. I would definitely not go back to eat at this terrible place. I prefer to go eat at the gas station. The chef who makes this food seems to have learned how to cook on the street. and I waited almost 1 hour for the food when a New York is supposed to be ready in 12 minutes not an hour the food was cold the chips were broken

K
Katherine Grace

This is Not the PLACE IT USED TO BE, Cafe Versailles from previous mangemnet. It is now "Bistro V" and has all the disadvantages of New York with none of the advantages. Too loud, too pushy and too NYC and NOT Greenwich AT ALL. And pricing is sky high-insane for cheap, poorly prepared bistro food. All they need now is a Mariachi band and you’ve got a painful rush hour NYC subway car. Even counter take out: A very small 3.5” strawberry tart to go, not table service, from the counter is now a WHOPPING $13.50 !!!!!!😱over priced from just two years ago only when they charged $7.50. They are now overpriced, period, for the average quality; pastries and tarts everywhere in Town range from 6 to 9 dollars for very high quality. Do not bother with this restaurant, sadly under new ownership and (mis)management; I wish it were Cafe Versailles again with polite owners and fair prices.

Mike Nelson

I never complain about service but wow I have never experienced worse service than I have here. The waiter came to our table 3 times and we were at the table for an hour and 45 min. We came for the bottomless brunch we got chalky mimosas that we couldn’t even drink. The waiter claimed it was fresh squeezed. I have never had chalky orange juice in my life, especially when it is “fresh squeezed“. I got the Bloody Mary which was good but only received one refill. The waters were empty the whole time and the food was okay. The only redeeming quality was the live music. The same waiter gave the table next to us the wrong food. I’m not sure if it was just him or the place as a whole that was bad. When we saw that the chalky mimosa was still on the bill we were shocked. The whole drink was still on the table and the waiter still gave us a hard time about it. If you are in Greenwich there are a bunch of great places to eat at on Greenwich ave. Places that treat their customers 100% better than we were treated here. I would steer clear of this place and go elsewhere.

K
Kelly B

There are plenty of places on Greenwich Ave with a short wait time, good food and acceptable service. This is not one of them. Loooong wait to order and for food even when the restaurant is nearly empty, food is decent but doesn’t stand out, and waitstaff/management put themselves before their customers. Oh - and don’t try to walk in with a cup of coffee you purchased earlier while walking around browsing or bring a bag in from a competitor bakery. They will freak out and ask you to re-cup it. So silly and completely tone deaf to the Greenwich Ave shopping day vibe.

E
E

My experience at this establishment was characterised by a catastrophic failure in premises maintenance and a complete lack of professional accountability. During my visit, a ceiling tile struck me in the restroom, landing straight on my head, resulting in a permanent bump and soreness. The management’s response to this breach of safety was egregious; no aid was rendered, and no concern for my welfare was expressed. This incident represents a clear violation of standard safety protocols and a failure to protect patrons from foreseeable harm. Potential visitors should be advised of the hazardous conditions and the management's total abdication of responsibility.
