A great restaurant. I love the fact that you can order from the menu instead of it being a buffet. The orange beef is always excellent.

My order was taken at the register and we were seated with social distancing . All the food was as ordered and packed in quality to go containers. When you were through you put on your container lids packed up and left. It was great and well thought out.

We have dined in person and take out for years. We order at least once a month if not more often. The food is high quality and generous. Over the years I have tried nearly every dish they offer. I have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this China Inn (Sam's) to everyone.

We always order through take out and they always get our order right. Food is always nice and hot. For those complaining about prices going up, it’s not their fault. Prices have gone up for food so of course they’re going to raise their prices. They are still a good price in my opinion especially since everything is made fresh.

This is, by far, the best Chinese food we've ever had. We ordered combination fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, chicken and broccoli and beef and broccoli. All were amazing. Seasonings were perfect and the rice was so good. Not greasy! The staff was kind and served us quickly. We will be visiting again next time we are in town.

Best authentic Asian food and so many choices. Can't go wrong eating at this establishment. There's a dish for everyone and you won't leave hungry. Prices are market if not less than what you would spend elsewhere. And the quality and care in each order is impeccable.

I love Sam’s China Inn. It’s very consistent and I haven’t had a bad meal or experience here. One of Southeast Texas’s true hidden gems. I have moved away from the area and I know I will miss it, but it’s good enough to contemplate a 2 hour drive just for Sam’s. Some of favorites were the moshu beef, pan fried dumplings and chicken chow mein.

Long time established restaurant that has nice decor and atmosphere. For appetizers had egg rolls & hot and sour soup. The soup was very thick which I prefer over being thin and watery. Entrees were Egg Fried rice and Szechuan Chicken, both were hot, fresh and very good. Waitress was pleasant and attentive.

Food is good, service is mediocre at best. I still eat there fairly regularly and have had several different servers, they're all slacking....not terrible but not good either. I also like restaurants that are flexible with the menu and they're not, the only way you get it is the way the menu says it is :-/

The food was amazing, but 4 stars because there was no waitstaff yesterday. We had to order at the front desk and then they brought to-go cups and served our food, and that was it. I would have loved a refill 😭 but still everyone was nice and the food was fresh.

Had dinner with my wife at China Inn and it was nice and clean. The service was great compare to other restaurants in SETexas. My food was good. No complaints. My wife's food had a really odd flavor to it so when our waitress came by to check on us we told her about my wife's food and she brought us a menu and asked if we wanted something else. Less than 5 minutes later my wife recieved her replacement dinner and it was all good. I recommend this place due to the great service and their willingness to accommodate their customers.

Food was decent. Nothing really stood out. The Happy Family was flavorful, but the chow mein had a good taste, but was a bit bland. Overall it was a pleasant meal, just missing a little.

The food is amazing! There is some inconsistency with the menu description. I ordered a meal that said Chinese pancakes an I received tortillas. Both times I have gotten food from here it was great. My husband an I did take out twice an dine in once. Take out portion is bigger than fine in. The staff was good when we did dine in.

The general tsao shrimp was very good. Hot and fresh in a few minutes after ordering. I ordered to go there. They made sure my order was taken 4 different people asked. This is a plus lots of places hace employee after employee walk by and offer no assistance.

Esme provided outstanding service tonight while we enjoyed a delicious meal with our family. The China Inn fried rice and Hunan Triple Delight was delicious and enough for two. We love this restaurant and visit every time we come back to visit!

This is one of the nicer Chinese restaurant we have in the area. It’s been around for a very long time, but they have managed to maintain their large beautiful dining room. Food was good and the service was even better. Prices are a tad bit higher than other Chinese restaurants.

My friend told me about this place and then I saw someone post about the Singapore style noodles so I had to try. I am Filipino so I love pancit and these noodles are definitely a great meal when you are craving pancit. They are made with curry sauce with a hint of spice instead of soy/oyster sauce that is in pancit. Absolutely delicious. I will be coming back for more of these noodles and will try more food!!!

Went here with family Sunday. Everyone loved their food. They even had fries for our grandchild. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was we all planned what we were gonna eat from the online desktop menu that said lunch menu was served daily. When we got there the in house menu excluded Sunday from the menu so we had to but family platters. I checked later and the mobile phone menu was correct with a few conflicting menu items. Once we made all of our changes The food was great and the staff was friendly. It's a nice place for family.

We used to go to this restaurant a lot years ago and it was always so good and I actually made special trips in to bring my family with me to go eat here because I liked the place so much but since covid-19 a lot of the place has changed they make you pay ahead and order at the front of the restaurant and the food quality has also changed a lot I ordered egg drop soup which was very good and I ordered egg foo young which was basically undercooked to an extreme amount and the food service is lacking a lot I guess because of covid-19 they they make your drinks automatically in glasses to go and they give you a huge glass of drink which is good but the the no touch no wait on you kind of service is a little bit off-putting when you're not used to it. I'm hoping a lot of that will change once the world is changed and people are vaccinated against covid and there's a lot less transmission I'm really hopeful for that. I didn't know what to think about the change in the food quality that I just can't account for I think maybe they make their egg foo young a little too thick if it's not being cooked all the way through and we may go back again we may not and if we do go back again it's probably going to be a little while.I can't really give a proper opinion because I've only eaten there recently and had the egg foo young the egg drop soup like I said was great but the egg too young was seriously lacking I did ask about the tofu dishes they have but they don't fry or cook any of them they only steam them so I never have cared for undercooked tofu or steamed tofu that much so that didn't appeal to me at the time. I guess what I'm trying to say is the other dishes they have there may be great. They may be awesome there may not be anything lacking in them but I haven't tried them so I have no way to give an opinion on that.

I have been to this place over the years many, many times and the food has always been Great but since they changed the name and ownership a few years ago, the food has a weird taste like leftovers or like it's been reheated several times or freezer burnt! Especially The fried chicken and the fried rice. If it happened once or twice, I wouldn't mention it, but it has happened on several occasions and I order a lot of takeout! Everything else is good ESPECIALLY their Hot Garlic Chicken or Shrimp w/no Batter, Moo Shu Pork, Egg Rolls, and Soups! Staff is very Friendly and the place is Always Clean 😋

The food is still good like it used to be. They have changed their lunch menu up. You no longer get soup and egg roll. You have to spend a dollar more for each addition you add on. They say they have lowered their prices however I didn't see that and because I have to pay additional for a soup and egg roll I won't be back

The food is, in my opinion, the best Chinese food in the area. The service? Not so much. We tried calling for half an hour, getting hung up on immediately or getting aggressively told "Hold please!" and never getting answered, until they picked up just to hang up again. When I finally gave up and drove there, they had 2 tables with 5 customers, total. The girl at the register was playing on her cell phone. I got the impression, upon ordering, that I was inconveniencing her. Then I made the mistake of mentioning we had tried calling on the order. I'm pretty sure the long wait for the food and tiny portions was punitive, at that point. Again, the food was really good, if somewhat sparse. Awful, indifferent service.

Big black hair in my rice. Found it halfway through my meal. Eggroll was great. My shrimp lunch dish tasted great, I was just grossed out finding the 3 inch long black hair. I brought it to the waitress' attention and showed her the hair. I gladly bought my meal but will not eat there again.

Very good service and the place is spotlessly clean, especially the bathrooms. The wonton soup is meh. Just a clear broth with a few wontons thrown in. Not a whole lot of flavor. They could have did a lot more, like putting in some slices of pork and some vegetables of some sort to give it color and taste. The spicy scallops and the pineapple chicken were just doused with sweet sauce to the point where you couldn't taste anything but sweet sauce. Warning if you're diabetic don't come here! I like the way the scallops were prepared but they needed to be in some sort of black bean sauce that would be more savory than sweet. I mean I'm leaving here with a sugar buzz. Had the chicken wings and they were huge. They were properly fried and rendered down but could have used a little extra kick of some sort. All in all I'll skip it next time sorry.

Used to be better before they went under new management. Now it’s like every year they get worse. No one ever goes here anymore. The other day my bf and I were the only two people eating there. Used to love coming here as a kid but now the food is lackluster.

Food was mid. I got the sesame chicken lunch special & fried rice with an egg roll. The chicken was okay, and the fried rice was so light it was almost yellow. It had no flavor and just looked like soy sauce and eggs. The egg roll tasted freezer burnt and off. For the price I paid ($12) I wasn’t too annoyed but I definitely wouldn’t be coming back anytime soon. Definitely a let down especially since there were so many good reviews.

Food came out very fast, but did not taste fresh as it did in past visits. Did the owner or chef change in the past few years? So disappointed at this visit. I've been eating at this location for over 20 years. This time, the service was decent but the General Tzo's Chicken was overcooked, dry, stringy and flavorless. The sauce tasted good but the chicken itself was either overcooked or old. My mom had Broccoli Beef and she said it also seemed like it wasn't made fresh. The broccoli and sauce were fine, but the meat was off. Definitely was not as good as our visits years ago, sadly.

Had to ask 5 times for water. Hot and sour soup, wonton soup, egg rolls, and Kung po were all well below what we have come to expect. New owners. Panda Express is much better, now.

Will not order from China Inn again. If only 1 thing was bad, then might try them again, but pretty much the whole dinner was awful. General Tao's was very dry. Fried rice was basically white rice with soy sauce on it. Sweet and sour chicken was bland, as was the sauce. Kids wouldn't even eat it. Fried dumplings were not good with a mystery filling that had a weird taste and texture. Opened the chicken and broccoli/snow peas and was immediately grossed out as it was covered with a milky looking slimy sauce. And the sauce had no flavor. I actually dumped the dinner in a colander and rinsed it off before eating any more of it. Looked like chicken and all was steamed, not stir fried. Most of it went in the trash. In fact, all the leftovers went in the trash. Egg rolls were not bad.

The eggrolls today taste freezer burnt. And as a chef myself, the awareness of freezer burn is obvious before you cook the food. So instead of getting fresh eggrolls, they fried the freezer burnt ones. The fried rice also was not as fresh tasting. I once loved this restaurant. It has changed and not for the better.

We went a few weeks ago and two of us got food poisoning. It was the only thing we ate the same that day and we ordered the same thing chow main. honestly I have had the beef and broccoli and the food has bad flavor compared to other places I have ate at. I do like that the place is looks clean. Serves are always coming around asking if you need anything which is good in my opinion.

My first day I got a general Tso lunch special, I wanna start by saying the chicken is indeed, fresh and solid. The rice is extremely bland (lunch special, plain) I needed about four packs of soy sauce. The chicken portions were counted on my finger. (5) with a drink $14.23. (LUNCH SPECIAL) yeah right. The next day I went in and ordered a pineapple chicken with shrimp fried rice. They cannot add any shrimp to the lunch special to get it. I would have to pay for a full large fried rice, which cost about $13. I was unable to speak to the manager or the owner, even though I asked. So my opinion, this place is extremely overrated. In total for me to enjoy one meal the way I want $23!!!For the price you can buy all the materials and cook it yourself at home. Do yourself a favor and move on, places, like this, have the potential to be great, but are fine with just being OK

First time I've ever had bland curry chicken. Wife had pan fried noodles. She was sick all night and half the next day. We've ate their food many times and it was good. This time it was horrible. We won't be back. Overpriced too.

I ordered shrimp fried rice and two egg rolls, he said ready in 10 mins. Walked right back up 3 to 4 later saying my order was ready🤔. I checked my food in the car before leaving. Rice and egg rolls were warm 😮‍💨. Ain't no way you just made this food. Like they gave me somebody's order who never came to pick up🤬.
