Living in Hermosa Beach, I’m lucky enough to visit this pier almost every single day, and honestly, I can say without exaggeration that this is one of the best beaches and piers in the world. It’s not just a place to walk or take photos — it’s a place that becomes part of your daily life and your mood. Every morning the air feels fresh and clean, the sound of the ocean is calming, and the views are absolutely beautiful. Walking along the pier with the Pacific Ocean stretching endlessly in front of you is something that never gets old. Sunrises here are peaceful and quiet, while sunsets are simply breathtaking — the sky turns orange, pink, and purple, and the whole place feels magical. What I love most is the atmosphere. You see surfers catching waves, people jogging, families walking their dogs, kids playing volleyball, and friends just relaxing on the sand. Everyone seems happier here. It’s very safe, clean, and well maintained. The pier is perfect for walking, thinking, exercising, or just enjoying the ocean breeze. There are also great restaurants, coffee shops, and small local businesses nearby, so you can grab a coffee or dinner after your walk. It’s the perfect mix of nature, community, and California beach lifestyle. For me, this isn’t just a tourist spot — it’s home. If you visit Hermosa Beach, the pier is absolutely a must-see. Five stars isn’t enough. I’d give it ten if I could!
Charming, sunny, and full of life. Hermosa Beach is the whole package—clean beach, scenic pier, and a vibrant downtown lined with palm trees, street art, and colorful boutiques. You can surf in the morning, shop for quirky tees by lunch, and enjoy fruit-blended ice cream before sunset. Super walkable, great for families and couples, and filled with good vibes.
As a portrait photographer, this is one of my favorite spots to shoot couples at sunset and even capture spontaneous street portraits of interesting strangers. It’s a lively, cinematic place — no surprise it was one of the filming locations for La La Land. The crowd brings great energy, and the golden hour light here is simply magical. If you’re a fan of dreamy light and city vibes, you’ll love shooting (or being photographed) here too!
Cool pier and quite long. Great views of the South Bay, even saw some dolphins.
This is our favorite beach. They have the strip of stores and restaurants right off the beach. It's very clean and family-friendly. If you like volleyball, they have a ton of courts to play on. If you want a refreshing bite to eat, I suggest the acai place called Good Sol. So, good!
Weekends can be crowded, but you’re rewarded with the prettiest sunsets.

It’s within walking distance from the nearby Hilton. Along the way, there were local volunteers guiding people, and we got to chat with them about all sorts of things. The whole place had such a warm, welcoming vibe — very California-like and really lovely. If you go early in the morning, there aren’t many people around, so it feels super refreshing and I definitely recommend it. But the wind is pretty strong, and in late November it can get a little chilly.
Perfect mix of beach vibes and walkable charm at the Hermosa Beach Pier...it was one of our favorite stop and stays during out road trip along the California coast. The pier is awesome — wide, clean, and perfect for an easy stroll with ocean views in every direction. What makes it extra special is how seamlessly the beach connects to all the nearby shops, cafés, and restaurants. You can grab a smoothie, walk straight onto the sand, or wander the pier at sunset; it all feels effortless. Great energy, friendly locals, and that classic SoCal vibe without the fuss.
Great time! and we got so lucky there was a silent piano concert , we attended and it was magnificent watching the sunset and listening to the piano.
I love it! It depends when you come sometimes it can be full, but there are benches on the pier and a beautiful sunset to watch. There’s food around too, you just have to walk a little.
Family had a great time on our first visit to this pier, great view and very relaxing. Looking forward to fishing next time, tried to catch a pic anyway! But the fish does'nt show up too well for my camera.
Nice beach for a one day visit. Several volleyball games going on, plenty of room and space for bringing a family or for relaxing as a couple or solo. Several shops and restaurants available within a 5-7 minute walk. We stayed nearby at the Quality Inn and visited the beach in the evening before departing on our cruise the next morning.

They did my manicure with design very quickly and with great quality. The place is really nice — both the interior and the service are excellent. Highly recommend!
Parking is a challenge, sometimes. The pier has plenty of benches. They had a volleyball competition the day I visited. The bathroom might be without toilet paper at times. I noticed the area to be clean. There are restaurants and shops near the boardwalk. Very lively. I noticed a skateboarding group riding together. I also noticed a live band playing music on a Thursday night in July in one of the outdoor bars.
The atmosphere was wonderful, I had never felt such a pleasant vibe, very friendly people and many parties because it was July 4th.
Beautiful clean pier right in the center of Hermosa Beach. Free access. Fishing from the end. Lots of nice drink, places and coffee shops next-door. Ample parking also.

Hermosa Beach Pier is such a nice area! It has a pedestrian zone filled with bars, restaurants, and stores, making it perfect for a casual Sunday. Whether you want to grab a drink, enjoy a meal, or just stroll around, it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the day.
The vibe of Hermosa beach 🏖️ reminds me a little bit of Venice Beach; great crowd, clean, great views and big walkways. Hermosa beach is definitely one of the must-visit beaches if you happen to be in Los Angeles! If you love playing beach ball games, you would love this beach as the whole stretch of this beach has volley 🏐 nets! You could also dine here as there are plenty of seafood 🦞🦐🍤 restaurants to satisfy your cravings. What’s more, you could go fishing here and they even provide chopping boards for you to cut your freshly caught fish 🔪🐟! For what it's worth, this beach seems to be safe and free of homeless roaming around the beach! Overall, I would recommend coming here if you prefer a lively vibe than camping on a beach!
Nice beach area with lots of restaurants and bars. Long pier to take a walk, and busy boardwalk for walkers, runners, skateboarders, and bicyclists. Several volleyball courts as well and alot of room on the beach to snag your own space. Free end of concerts are fun. But parking can be difficult.

Good beach overall. It has a good vibe. Negatives: 1. Its busy. Good luck getting a parking spot without driving in circles for at least 20 minutes waiting for someone to pull out of a space to take 2. Its has a little bit of trash on the beach. Not enough to be an issue but its there 3. There is no shower or rinse station to get rid of the sand off your feet. Overall though, even with those negatives, it is definitely worth a day trip to check out the local environment
Hermosa Beach is between Redondo Neach, and Manhattan Beach. What I love do is driving all the away to Redondo Beach, then walk to Hermosa, then Manhattan, then playa del Rey. You can not directly walk from Playa del Rey to Venice beach. Because there will be a long walk around 2hours because of marina del Rey. Although I really tried walking 2 hours to Venice through Marina Del Rey, It was an awful trial, and I did not regret. There was a swing right on the beach, lots of bird in the early morning. I liked it here, but not that much.
It's been a while since I actually had time to visit the beach. Hermosa Beach is one of my favorite beaches ⛱️ in LA County. I don't remember the pier being this narrow. To my surprise, there were only a few benches to sit down on and already occupied. I took as many pictures as I could of the sunset this past Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. It was a great view, but the pier was somewhat crowded with some people fishing a long with everyone else walking around. With that being said, I didn't go as far out on the pier as I would have liked to. I decided to go take a walk along the water and took a few pictures of the pier from a distance. Also, there were a lot of people staring at me as if I didn't belong there. 😐 Other than that, I enjoyed myself. 😁
