my husband and I are foodies! my husband is a vp for a high-end Italian steak house. nothing makes us happier than a well thought out menu. we came here with our son and his gf, thinking we would do the normal restaurant thing and each order a meal. one look at the menu, and we knew we were in for a treat. we ordered several appetizers and a couple of entries to split. the food was so wonderful. the service was spot on! ( I love it when my server is happy at their job), and the ambiance could not be better. picnic tables for dining (plenty of room for sharing) or several gas firepit seating areas for drinks and apps. oh, and it is smack on the strand. anyone who lives near a beach always has visitors coming into town. this is a fabulous place to bring them for a wonderful meal, a great place to come for cocktails and appetizers as the sun sets, and then a walk on the pier or the beach.
I am giving five stars because the food and vibe is exactly what my partner and I were looking for in a beach front establishment on the west coast. With the rainbow 🌈 lifeguard shack in view and the parking lot turned patio and a menu that amazed my chef partner and my "indentured" default su chef self (chef joke there) thoroughly enjoyed sampling the menu, it's really that good. Vista gathers and fuses multiple cuisines with the post pandemic curiosity and a casual unabashed flavor that has seen many other pandemic era restaurants across the country rise as the formal establishment fell. It is all about life, love and pursuit of informal happiness. . The world has indeed changed Hermosa Beach threw the hat into our view with the permanent LGBTQ support with the rainbow lifeguard shack. My partner and I appreciate that and the great days we spent there. Vista I felt represented and they did so with wonderful food and converting a parking lot into a sunset viewing patio. To sum: Combine the delightfully sophisticated menu items, the staff and location, you have a seasoned mix for success, which was clearly evident.
It's a great patio for sure and the service is excellent but the food is amazing. Compliments to the chef on the Kim Chi Fried Rice!
My Family and I, party of 9, made reservations for 7pm outside patio dining. We got a table with a firepit, right next to the live band! It was 4th of July weekend, the sunset was on point, the atmosphere was lively and beachy ;) it was a perfect sunset evening, starring into the beach and the hot summer breeze coming in nicely. Of course it only made sense to get the surf and turf. Medium done rib eye and lobster which was perfectly cooked! Paired with a great bottle of 2018 cabernet sauvignon from Napa Valley. This is the spot to be for a summer sunset date night or family gatherings.
My fiancé and I hosted a joint bachelorette/bachelor trip and showed up for brunch at Vista with a group of 16—without a reservation! The team was so accommodating, setting us up in a beautiful shaded outdoor lounge area and bringing extra seating without any fuss. The service was fantastic, with attentive staff making sure our drinks were never empty. Great vibes, amazing hospitality, and a perfect spot for groups! Highly recommend. Oh, and get a reservation.
We came to Vista on Labor Day after the beach with friends, and what started as a small group quickly turned into eight of us. Thankfully, Amma was our server, and she made the whole evening feel seamless. At first, we were squished at a bench, but she helped us move to a cozy fire-table with couches, which made all the difference. Amma was warm, patient, and genuinely hospitable, always checking in to be sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. The food and drinks were excellent: the Aperol Spritz was perfectly balanced (not too bitter), the Huli Huli chicken was incredible, the kimchi fried rice was a favorite, and the short ribs and calamari were also delicious. We loved the prickly pear cocktails too. Between Amma’s service, the good vibes, and watching the sunset around the fire, the night felt like community. It was such a great experience, and Vista is definitely a spot I’d return to. Thank you, Amma, for making our evening so memorable!
This place never misses. I take friends here every single time someone comes to town + celebrate all my personal events here. Drink menu and food menu are amazing. My favorite spot in Hermosa
Cool patio area! Outdoor seating area is prime location. It’s facing the ocean. People watching is great because everyone walking by on the Strand is right in front of you. We had drinks and snacks on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. Service was slow. The hard Apple Cider was quite sweet, but came in an adorable pineapple shaped glass. The french fries were OK. They did not come with a napkin, however. The total bill came to $28 for one drink and one snack.
Absolutely outstanding experience at Vista Restaurant in Hermosa Beach! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. Every staff member made us feel like VIPs, ensuring we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The food was simply divine—each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavor, and presented beautifully. The fresh ingredients truly shined, and you could taste the care and attention that went into every bite. Whether you’re a fan of seafood, steak, or vegetarian options, Vista offers a variety of options that cater to all tastes. Our favorite was the kimchi fried rice and short ribs. The ambiance was equally impressive. With its sleek, modern design and breathtaking views of the beach, it's the perfect place for both a romantic evening or a casual family meal. The relaxed yet chic atmosphere makes it ideal for any occasion, and we felt completely at ease bringing our kids along—there’s a great family-friendly vibe without sacrificing the sophistication of the space. Highly recommend Vista to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're local or visiting, it’s the perfect place to enjoy incredible food, world-class service, and an unbeatable ocean view. A true 5-star gem! ✨🌟
I didn't expect I would eat one of the best salad of my life here, if not the best ! I am usually struggling in the States to have good food but this place changed my whole perspective. Some will say it's expensive for a salad but that's the price you need to pay to have this top quality. I will come back for sure.
This place was great! Beautiful outdoor views on the beach, good food, good drinks. It was a touch pricey but they delivered on that. The Five dragon sandwich was a good Asian fusion twist on a pastrami sandwich and the fries were delicious and came with a garlic sauce that was bomb. I tried the dove and the prickly pear drinks and they were good. Genuinely enjoyed it.
Great spot in Hermosa Beach! Went with a friend, loved the food, Aperol Spritzes were amazing 🍹, and they had a live band on the terrace. Super fun vibe!
Great spot right by the beach and the pier. Even without a beer or good food, the patio is top tier for people watching, lol. Had a great server (wish I could remember his name) and tried several local beers. Food-wise we LOVED the Crispy Popcorn Cauliflower. Huli Huli Chicken Tulips were good as well. Wasn’t a huge fan of the Scallop Crudo although my buddy who lives close by is a huge fan of it. Got the burger as a main and it was excellent. Overall a really nice spot.
Where do I start…. The food is exceptional. We’ve tried just about everything on the menu. The food is Michelin star quality with a beach feel. The attention to detail along with the combination of flavors creates a unique dining experience. A couple of my faves - chicken tulips, kimchi fried rice, lobster rolls, calamari. The service is top notch. The servers are kind and courteous. The drinks are over the top. Probably one of the best old fashioned’s I’ve ever had. The mezcal margarita was delish. This is a place you can’t just go to once.
Stopped by for a drink at 8pm on a Friday. It was a pretty quiet and comfortable night. Attentive service. Lovely setting and abgentle evening ambiance. Several heaters were outside, Barton and tower heaters. Crispy popcorn cauliflower was right on! Closest restaurant to the pier and along the boardwalk.
This place will blow you away. The eclectic music, the menu, friendly staff and cool atmosphere make this a fun place to visit. So fun I had to go back the next day and pop some more bottles. Sadly, I remember one name....Chloe, but everyone here made me feel at home. No rude comments about my dog. And joked and talked to you when appropriate. Definitely coming back.....keep the rose cold yall.
Was out walking the area and Vista caught our eye with the live outdoor music and fire pits so we stopped in for a drink. The atmosphere was awesome sitting around the fire pits, laughing, and receiving top notch service. With the beach and ocean right there, can't be beat. Highly recommend stopping in.
Great casual spot right on the beach… the food was great and the drink menu had something for everyone. We didn’t have a reservation and were able to get a patio table in 15 minutes. The Hermosa boardwalk is a Brad and Chad fest for sure but the view is great.
We went with an appetite and the food was delicious! Priced a little high but it's worth it for the quality. No issues during visit, accommodating, friendly, kind staff.
The food was BOMB! We tried a few appetizers and they were all so good. The drinks were just as good. Jeremy was our server and was amazing. Thank you so much. Here visiting, definitely coming back in July during my next trip!
The food here was delicious! I really appreciate the vegetarian and gluten free options. Our server Drew was very nice and gave good recommendations! I got the crispy cauliflower as an app, and Heart of Palm salad, both were so tasty! Will definitely be coming back!
Rode our bikes over from Manhattan Beach and decided to pop in for a cold beverage. Seemed like a very chill and trendy spot. I really enjoyed the vibe here. Will definitely be back to try some food.
Stopped in at Vista for a work dinner and it did not disappoint. Plenty of outdoor seating at picnic tables. There are a few tables with chairs around a fire table but they appear to be reservation only. The food is incredible. I recommend the huli huli chicken tulips, the cauliflower, and the half huli huli chicken.

Good cocktails, good food and great service with an awesome view of the beach. This is one of our favorite places to go and share small plates while enjoying craft cocktails. We rarely have to wait for a table but that's because we usually opt to sit inside.
I had a great experience at Vista Bar thanks to Alex. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely brightened up my day. It’s rare to meet someone who brings such positive energy to their work, and he made my visit feel really welcoming. I appreciate his professionalism and great attitude. definitely a standout member of the team. Highly recommend stopping by and asking for Alex!

We dis not get a spot at the fire, even though nobody was sitting there. After we left, that was about 1h, the tables with the fire were still empty. Food was good, drinks also. Live music quit really early…
Let's the get the obvious out the way... having dinner while watching the sun set into the pacific ocean is always a 5 out 5! If you are looking for that surfer beach Cali-Vibe #Vista marks the spot. Moving on to the main course.. the food. The dishes look like cuisine super models on decadent plates. My Huli Huli chicken was so flavorful and the meat just fell off the bone. My wife's Lobster Roll looks so good on camera, I felt it had a strong peppery taste.. but that just be my weird taste buds.. cause she left no evidence of it on the plate. The servers and waiters were all very attentive and friendly, which is why I would definitely revisit this spot.
Casual spot with Asian-influenced flavors by the ocean. Came here for brunch with my boyfriend on a Saturday morning and got seated immediately (we had reservations beforehand, which we made online). We split the loco moco (we ordered a large, which includes an extra egg) and the palm sugar monkey bread, which was a sweet/salty Hawaiian bread with coconut on top. Sitting outside with the ocean in front was a vibe. Service was a bit standoffish but quick when we were closing out. It’s good for big groups and is kid-friendly.
One of the best restaurants in Hermosa in terms of food, cocktails, vibe, and views. I find it good priced for the quality but the fact that the entrees come without side is very annoying, specially when you have to pay $11 for a small plate of rice or a few fries for your burger. As a local, I also would like to see some week special deals that can compete with the rest of places on the Pier. This said, I think that it’s designed to attract people from out of town looking for a special occasion that rarely would come back within months or ever.

Food and cocktails are solid. Wonderful spot at Hermosa Pier. Great patio outside and cute spot inside. Service is aloof at best or bad/rude at worst. As long as you focus on vibes and food, you’ll be fine. The servers might literally never come, though. That’s happened.
Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon - they weren't very busy but had a ton of staff walking around. Our order was taken pretty quickly and the food brought out in a pretty timely manner. After that we were on our own. No one checked back in to see how the food was, no one came by when our plates were empty, we had to flag down one of the staff to ask for our check. Really odd with the aforementioned number of staff present. Our food was pretty good - the roll for the lobster roll seemed slightly stale and putting mint on avocado toast seemed like a weird flavor move. Otherwise, we enjoyed being next to the ocean and having a pretty good lunch.
This place is beautiful and an amazing location BUT we ordered 2 main courses on the menu and... What can I say.... The chef isn't cheffing. It just seems like they throw stuff in a plate and try to make it look elevated. We left with a 120$ bill and our hearts are in pain. It was so so bad and untasty. I rarely leave my food but we both did this time. Don't understand the nice comments about the food, maybe they changed the chef? We ordered the soba noodles and the scallops dish. Anyway don't mean to be rude but for this price point please get it together!!!!!!!
Bland, serious, terrible staff. Don’t even greet you when you come in and they are super slow. Food is average. 10/10 would not recommend.
Food and area are good. The place was busy. The reason for the 1 star is that if you look at the picture I attached. Near the bottom/left side within the kimichi rice. There is an orange thing. It turned out to be a piece of trash, it was a lable and it said "chips." My friend didnt had no idea what it was she was chewing on, until she pulled it out of her mouth and unfolded it. She thought it was a piece of chewy kimchi. She was horrified, I started to laugh out loud, and she did too because it was so ridiculous. The worst part they still made us pay for our 2 drinks. We were out of there asap, we kept it civil.
We ordered crab guacamole and we did not want to have crab after everything bill came and we asked is regular charge for guacamole $19. Server said it’s on the menu there is no exception you don’t want to have crab. Don’t pay guacamole $19 without the crab!
I’m a local. I showed up on a Thursday at 4 o’clock with three other people. I asked to sit at a sofa as none of them were occupied. The hostess told me I needed to have 6 people in my party and be willing to spend $1000. When I challenged her and said that I had been there in the past and two parties had actually shared a sofa area in my experience, she was quite rude and was adamant about the thousand dollar rule. She actually called someone over and they reiterated that rule. He actually said the rule was in place for a few years, but that was never an experience I had. They told me if I didn’t like it I could leave. I ended up just leaving. It’s a shame because it’s quite convenient to my house and I always had enjoyed myself there on previous occasions. This is probably the third time a hostess was rude to me. This experience was so strange I needed to review . Don’t bother spending your money.
Being a local, our experience with Cody was disappointing. As someone who also works in the service industry, I was surprised by how unkind and unfriendly he was from the start. Being personable and creating a positive rapport with customers is a basic expectation in hospitality, and he clearly struggled with that.We ordered three drinks, which came to $60. Given the venue’s vibe and atmosphere, the pricing felt fair. However, the energy and attitude from the staff—especially Cody—didn’t match the experience the bar seems to be going for. It was disheartening to feel judged and overhear negative comments. You never know who you’re serving.Wishing the team the best moving forward, stay lucky.
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN SPEND YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT!! If you want to be abused and robbed then this is the place to go. Outside tables are falling apart. Dirty cushions, dirty tables and absolutely abysmal service!! Staff could care less about customers. Staff is arrogant and rude - like they think they are the only place with outdoor seating. Drinks and the menu in general is absurdly overpriced and the quality of both their cocktails and food is nothing short of terrible! It Takes forever to put in an order and by the time you get anything you will be old and grey.
What is going on HB! This place is a shame for this area and completely killing the good vibes. The service was inexistant, we literally had to go and ask twice to serve a us. The waitresses were all completely stoned and obviously under drugs.Next to us, an entire family with 2 hungry children and angry parents, who didn’t get the food they ordered an hour ago. They left after shouting the manager about the staff and the lack of organization . 45 min after ordering our drinks, just beers and wines, we have not been served . We left indeed.I don’t recommend this place. You will enjoy many other places on the pier with better values like The Watermans,… I don’t think this place will last long if they continue in that direction. On our side, it’s Hasta la Vista for ever.
We ordered just guacamole and chips, yet we were charged for the $19 crab guacamole. What a complete disaster! From the very beginning, we specifically asked if they had a simple guacamole and chips option, and the server said “yes.” But when we questioned the charge, the response was, “that’s what’s on the menu, so I had to charge you for that.” Honestly, charging for something I didn’t eat, and something more expensive, is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the server’s attitude was dismissive and rude. He literally said, “No mistake, I charged you what’s on the menu, wrote ‘no crab’ obviously,” and walked away with an attitude. I’ve been coming here often, and I have so much respect for the chef and appreciation for the bussers—they’ve always been excellent. But after this experience with our server, I can confidently say I won’t be coming back again.
Probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to in my life. Let’s start with the blue shrimp cocktail: what am I looking at?? A shrimp cocktail just needs the shrimp and a good cocktail sauce. I don’t know what this is and it didn’t taste good. Now for the Star of the night… scallops. Who on earth puts store bought pork rinds on top of scallops?? Really?. To make it worse, The scallops were deep fried (to the chef: just pan fry them 2min on each side that’s it!). The best part was the bill… $130 for dog food. Thanks Vista!

This place used to be our favorite. Beautiful outdoor location, good food, good cocktails. And friendly servers too (back then). We used to enjoy ourselves on previous occasions, but the servers now are super rude, unfriendly - not even a smile. People you are in the wrong job. Restaurants are a service industry. Attention Vista owners, please train your employees to be courteous and friendly. These are basic qualifications to do the job right.
