The service was incredible, everyone was so nice! We had a couple of appetizers, each one better than the next, and split a platter for dinner. Everything was so full of flavor, and filling but not too heavy. We finished off with the custard dessert, which was the perfect end to a great meal! We'll definitely be back!!
Great food! Excellent service. The owner & his daughters were very attentive & gave us phenomenal food. We told them to surprise us with our meals & they brought out delicious plates. They were all great. They are very welcoming. I took my Spanish speaking family here & they loved it. Excellent service & gracias for everything! I truly recommend this place & I will be coming back 🙂.
This place has amazing service and high quality food. We ordered catering for our company luncheon and they went above and beyond. We will definitely be coming here on the regular. The wings are recommended!!
Great service and great food! Highly recommend
Absolutely LOVE it here! Keep coming back. Family owned, daughters are lovely servers. Always pleasant and attentive. Finally met their Father and what a personality! Engaging humorous and a perfect host. Lawand is a MUST have! Any of the meat is always tender. Naan is another must have. Pairs well with any of the stews for dipping. Grilled plates are so tasty. Perfect portions cooked to perfection. You can taste the difference between all the meats, chicken, beef, lamb. Excellent. I cant say enough about this restaurant. Absolutely a must to visit.
Rafi always shows hospitality and the food is consistently amazing. 10/10 would recommend to anyone, picky or foodie, wholesome environment to be a part of. Best halal spot in long island!!!
The food and service were both amazing! I appreciated that the seasoning was flavorful without being too spicy; if you prefer spicy, there is red sauce available at the table that you can add to your meal. I had the beef kabob with grilled vegetables and rice, as well as naan and hummus--all were fresh and easy on the stomach. The variety of the menu was so interesting, we will definitely come back!
Great restaurant and great people. I just had my daughters first birthday here. They were more than accommodating. We had over 16 people there. Food was delicious and fresh as always. Friendly and welcoming Owner. Thanks again.
I love coming here.. their food’s delicious, meat is always tender. They’re family owned, so they’re hard working people that are always personable, always welcoming us, making us feel at home. Portions are big so you can share with families. Great authentic afghan food
I've been coming to Kabul Grill for well over 10 years now. The first time I came, and many times subsequent, was with my mom. We immediately fell in love with the food and it slowly became our go-to mom/son retreat. Now, many years later, it's usually just me stopping by for a solo lunch. The quality has never wavered and the prices have remained reasonable. The family that runs it are incredibly welcoming and seem to create a bond with each and every customer. Truly one of the gems of the area.
One of my favorite restaurants of all time. Every dish is incredible. The staff are so nice. There is a real family feel when you eat here. Would recommend to anyone looking for good eats!
Stepped right in and was greeted immediately in a kind and passionate manner. Excellent service and even better food. All the food tastes home made and is such a great environment to sit down and eat in as well.
Had an amazing evening at Kabul Grill in Hicksville , NY . The food was great and delicious and the service was equally good. It felt like I am at home . The owner was personally taking care of the guests at each table and attending to every request with a smile ! I would always recommend to visit this restaurant and also very good for any celebration as well
I have come here several times with family and have always had a wonderful time dining in. The owner and his family were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and the meat had the right amount of tenderness. The salmon kabob had a very buttery taste to it, which was definitely my favorite dish. This restaurant overall had a very homely atmosphere and I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try Afghan food.
5 stars everytime I dine here. I've been here several times over the last decade or so and it's always an excellent dining experience. Very friendly staff and amazing food... what else could you want?! The best Shirazi salad I've ever had, be sure to order a side with your Kebob as it really adds a nice touch. Truly authentic Afghan food!!!
I absolutely love it here. The service and the food is fantastic. The chicken over rice is amazing and I get it every time. Michelle, the waitress, is outstanding and very sweet. She always is on top of her game and the restaurant itself is so authentic!! Come here! :)
Went there the other day for a party of 15, let me tell you-amazing service! Michelle, our waitress addressed all our concerns and was always making sure we had everything. Food was delicious and the portion sizes were more than expected. Ordered a few family platters and apps. Couldn’t believe how fast the service was as well. Staff were super welcoming and the tomatoes tasted so fresh! Would definitely recommend 100%
5 stars across the board. The food 10/10. Authentic, organic, and tasty. Rafi and his family and chefs are nothing less than family oriented and will turn any day into something special! Atmosphere is clean as a whistle and the service is unmatched to any other afghan restaurant in the area. Highly recommended place. The kabobs are amazing and second to none.
Food is excellent! Service is friendly and personable. I usually have the Awshak. It’s outstanding. Spinach sambosas are a must. The chicken kebabs are flavorful and tender. Kabul Grill is our favorite Afghani restaurant.
Amazing atmosphere and very yummy food. The owner is very welcoming and the two waiters who served us were super amazing. We had very good time and good. In deserts don’t miss out their homemade ice cream and firni.
I loved the food here! I had the KADOO CHALOU (Chunks of pumpkin sauteed with fresh vegetables and lamb served with white basmati rice). I also tried the Firni, a rose water and cardamom flavored milk pudding. I enjoyed the food and also the fact that their menu includes a brief history of Afghanistan. They give you some sauces on the side, so you can make it as spicy or not spicy as you want. If you really like one of the sauces, you can purchase a container of it to bring home. The decor was lovely and the decor was absolutely wonderful! The owner came out to personally thank us for eating there. I can't wait to come back again and try more of their delicious food.
Juiciest kabobs I ever had. Try the beef Koobide kabob, for obvious reasons chicken kabobs generally run dry but at least their’s were more juicy than other place. Their green sauce was my favorite, the garlic in the sauce really came through. Not too subtle, but not to overpowering either!
A delightful, welcoming, delicious experience. We are always greeted in such a welcoming way. The food is fresh, plentiful and a delight to our tastebuds. We always leave with a full belly and a “to go” bag. Highly recommend! One can bring their own wine.
Four of us had an excellent meal here. Very attentive service, tasty food, modest prices, lots of dishes on the menu. We ordered three appetizers and four entrees and the total bill was $100 including taxes. The owner’s daughter took our order. She explained the dishes and was so patient with us. Noise level was low so we could have a conversation without raising our voices.
A few days ago I had the biggest pleasure of dining at this Middle Eastern gem, and I'm still so amazed by the experience! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with the upmost hospitality that set the tone for the entire evening. Michelle, the waiter was a great host in serving the food in timely manner and explained each dish with great detail. Moreover, the ambiance shed light to the heart of the Middle East with its homey decor and afghan music. Most certainly, the food itself was made to perfection. Fresh, warm platters served with a side naan and I must say the portion size was far more than enough for one person alone. Each dish was a masterpiece, with its authentic Afghan flavors and made with the freshest ingredients. My favorite on the menu was the Chicken salad and the Mantu! However, everything on the menu is worth a try, as you will not be disappointed! Furthermore, the staff was incredibly attentive, making sure our drinks were never empty and offering recommendations that perfectly matched a meal we would enjoy. Overall, this restaurant exceeded all expectations, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable dining experience. This place deserved more than Five stars, definitely coming back in the future with friends and family!
I usually dine in but we had a Department celebration that included over a dozen people with busy schedules so we did take out in a big way! Everyone loved the food! We had folks from other areas asking us where we got such great looking & great smelling food. Kabul Grill really knocked it out of the park! Thank you!
Fantastic dining experience. Authentic and tasty food. The ambience and service is top notch. Perfect place to dine with family.
We ordered the food for work and it was absolutely amazing!!! The entire team loved it as it was something new for most all of them. Plus the owners are the sweetest ever! The jujeh and chicken breast kebobs were delicious along with everything else. Hands down best kebobs in town.
We recently had the pleasure of celebrating my husband’s birthday with lunch at Kabul Grill, and from the moment we walked in, we were met with an atmosphere that felt warm, genuine, and incredibly welcoming. The restaurant has a cozy charm that reflects the heart behind it — it’s a family-owned business, and that pride and care truly shine through in every detail. The service was attentive and gracious, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Each dish was packed with rich, vibrant flavors and served in generous portions. Since most of us were relatively new to Middle Eastern cuisine, we decided to explore the menu and try a little bit of everything. Aside from the variety of delicious kebabs we ordered — each one flavorful and beautifully grilled — another true star of the show was their naan and hummus. The naan was perfection, (definitely ask for the garlic version!), and when dipped into their creamy, flavorful hummus, it was nothing short of heavenly. Dining at Kabul Grill was easily one of the best decisions we could’ve made for the celebration. It wasn’t just a meal — it was a heartfelt experience. You can tell this family pours their soul into the food and the atmosphere. We left feeling full, happy, and grateful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for incredible food, warm hospitality, and a truly memorable experience.
The afganistan flavors are just amazing! The meat is tender and delicious. Super nice owners. Highly recommend!
Small gem of a restaurant right off the highway. Fresh healthy delicious Afghan food in an elegant setting. The owner is a warm and friendly host and made us feel most welcome.
Ok...on the way to see Rockettes and was snowed in God awful Hicksville!!! So...we tried Kabul Grill...and I guess what...Its Amazing!!!!!!! MAZ and his younger sister are great hosts!!! THE FOOD PUTS THIS RESTARAUNT AS NOT ONLY MY FAVORITE AFGHAN, IT RANKS IN MY TOP 3 OVERALL!!! Caveat: a little dated interior...but it still was great.
Hands down my favorite restaurant OF ALL TIME. Not once have I been disappointed by the food, service, or atmosphere. I have dined in the restaurant on numerous occasions and just recently had a work event catered. Every guest raved about the quality of the food. The menu caters to such a wide variety of dietary restrictions and I have never tried a single dish that I did not love! Rafi and his family go above and beyond to meet your every need in and outside of the restaurant. Please do yourself a favor and give the restaurant a visit ASAP!
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious especially the platter and the Soltani kabob, which were both cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The hospitality was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving KABOBS and a welcoming atmosphere!
This is great authentic afghan place, the mixed platter 3 was great. The nicest family owned place!
Excellent food and service! Great family run business with authentic Middle Eastern flavor. My fiance and I are Amrenian so we're not easy to impress and we absolutely loved it. Can't wait to come back!
dined in, they have absolutely beautiful dining area with afghan scenery and art, more importantly the food was fresh, had traditional afghan taste and was well seasoned! I’d recommend the chicken kabob and both potato and veggie bolani.
Great food and run by wonderful, friendly people.
I discovered a hidden gem! I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant and highly recommend it. For the appetizer, I tried the beef sambosa, which was very tasty. I also loved the meat accompanied by yogurt sauce, as well as the green and red sauces. To top it off, I had a dessert called Firnee, which was delightful.
Outstanding service and food to match!! We tried the hummus, banjan, and booranee and combo platter of kebobs!! Very fresh food, has a homemade taste. And I can't say enough about the service. It literally felt like we were lifelong friends being treated to a dinner. This place is a gem in all of Long Island!
We were looking for a nice lunch spot and were lucky enough to find this place! What a delicious restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely, very warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. The food was exceptional - we got an assortment of appetizers (the sujuk was our favorite, hummus was also great) and grill items and everything was delicious and perfectly prepared, in generous portions. We will definitely be coming back!
This restaurant should have 5 stars on google! The food was so delicious! We have the kebab platter with chicken, beef and lamb and it had very good flavor. The sauces at the table were also very good, the white sauce and spicy sauces. The decor was very nice. Plenty of space and tables. Slightly cold temperature but it warmed up quickly when the food came. The waitress and owner were super friendly and funny and personable. They gave us a free dessert to go as well! Can’t wait to go back!
I love this store, if you want a yummy afghan store, here you got it. The food is amazing, the food was delicious and flavorful. the decorations were so beautiful I would recommend the kebab, so good!
Craving Afghan food? This is the spot. Great for a family get-together, Michel and her family are super welcoming. I've been tons of times with work buddies, friends, and family – everything on the menu is delicious. You gotta check it out!
This establishment is truly wonderful; the food was not only delicious but also served promptly. The young lady at the front desk welcomed us warmly and was incredibly courteous throughout our visit. Moreover, the owner took the time to personally connect with us, ensuring that everything met our expectations. Our experience was nothing short of awesome. Every aspect of our visit, from the delicious food to the attentive service, made for a memorable time. Will visit again and recommend it to others as well.
Everything we ordered was delicious and quickly and freshly prepared. Even our unadventurously eating toddler loved the rice and chicken. Great atmosphere and service.
Delicous food, friendly service. Do not miss Kabul Grill. From appetizer to dessert there are so many choices. Please support this amazing local family owned restaurant.
Best food I’ve ever had. Family owned- homemade. This restaurant deserves 5 stars. Our friends took us here for dinner this evening and we ordered the 4 meat plasters, hummus, rice, dumplings- 3 full orders. The owners daughter was so kind and we chatted the whole time. I will be back almost everyday for the rest of my life because this place was that delicious. Thank you!!!
Food is absolutely amazing, Khalid jaan is very kind and hospital, always takes care of me and my family. Definitely recommend anyone who loves Afghan food
From take out to large dinner parties, the food is always consistently delicious. Great friendly service. Love this place
We picked this spot for a group birthday dinner kind of out of the blue and was so pleasantly surprised! The food was delish and felt taken care of and attended to the entire time even with such a large group.
My Daughter took me out for a Valentine’s Day lunch At kabul Grill today. The dishes were so delicious, the oven baked Naan was one of kind! the restaurant is so clean and beautiful! The restaurant owner was so friendly and made us feel so comfortable. overall, the dinning experience was excellent! Thank you!
The only thing better than the food was the owner who makes you feel like family and keeps laughing during your whole meal. He’ll make sure you’re ordering right and eating the food right lol. While the food itself is good enough to be a weekly take-out staple, I can’t recommend dining in enough.
Rafi is amazing. This place is worth every penny. I have been hooked since I’ve been coming here. It is heartwarming food with amazing energy and atmosphere. Also dont forget BYOB.
Came here for a weekday bday dinner and was very impressed! Rafi the owner was extremely welcoming and the restaurant was well kept. The food came out quick and even got a complementary naan & hummus which was amazing btw, soft fluffy but crispy. The Lamb curry was great, tender flavorful and great over brown rice. Definitely give this place a try if you like Afghan cuisine or want to try!
This place is excellent! The food is very flavorful and they aren't stingy about the portions. Came to visit my family from Texas and we ended up ordering twice. The brown rice and white sauce was amazing! The owner is one of the friendliest people I've met. My family will definitely be ordering from him again. I wish I had a place like this in Texas.
I rarely leave reviews for restraunts. I only do so when a restraint absolutely blows me away. This is true of this place. I came in with a friend and was blown away by the incredible food and service. I think it was some of the best food I’ve had in my life. I came for the food which was amazing but the true best part of the meal was the owner and chef Raffi. He came over to my table many times and was giving me and my friend life advice as well as telling us jokes and funny stories the whole time. He brought free chickpeas to the table for us and truly treated us with the upmost respect. I will definitely be coming back here and continue supporting this local business.
Everything we ordered was great. I had the lamb chop and it was delicious. The proprietor was very hospitable and gave us free bread and dessert. We enjoyed the meal very much. Highly recommend.
Both food and service were great! The food was very fresh and well seasoned. The desert was so delicious. The staff were very friendly. It is very family friendly. I would definitely recommend!
The food is delicious and the portions are generous. I've dinned here with my family and got take out multiple times. Would definitely recommend. They're very kid friendly as well.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I came in today with my family and was greeted right away. The inside is very beautiful and comfy. The customer service was amazing!! 10/10 wow. The uncle who owns this restaurant is very down to earth and has great humor. When they brought out the food, i was amazed. The quality, the taste and overall presentation was beautiful. Before our food arrived, we were given a very delicious naan bread, with a side of tasty green sauce. I came all the way from the bronx to visit Long Island and i will definitely be coming back here. Beautiful and amazing people, amazing and delicious food!! I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!
We had dinner at Kabul Grill last night, and it was truly a wonderful experience! This authentic Afghan restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was absolutely delicious — rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care and tradition. The prices were very fair, especially considering the quality and generous portions. The service was also excellent — friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. And to top it all off, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary dessert at the end of our meal — such a thoughtful and sweet gesture! We left with full stomachs and happy hearts. Highly recommend Kabul Grill to anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying dining experience. We’ll definitely be coming back!
What a wonderful restaurant. The staff is very kind and welcoming. Wide menu with various selections. We got the shirazi salad and the sample platter. It was delicious and fresh. The salad was amazing with peppers. The mixed combo grill 12/10 - lamb was soft and juicy, chicken big chunks and juicy. For dessert firni and baklava which was amazing. Highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. You won’t be disappointed. Some of the best afghani food I’ve ever had! Service 10/10, owners were so kind and on top of everything.
I grew up eating Kabul Grill twice a week with my family in Long Island, and after my family and I moved from New York, we tried many places that could rival the taste, the atmosphere, and service that we’ve gotten here for years, but nothing ever came close. Although the recipe has slightly changed since I was a kid and owners have changed over the years, the food is better than ever! Not sure what they put in the White Sauce that comes with the meat and bread, but it’s the most delicious thing I’ve ever had and exactly as I remembered it! The Lamb Tikka was succulent and tender, the brown rice is so flavorful, and the beef sambosas were fluffy and hit the spot! On a Snowy night like this, it’s the best meal I could’ve asked for. The owner Rafy is also incredibly kind and really gets to know you, and you can tell how much the restaurant means to him. Great service, amazing food, and lovely ambience!
Nice design and great tasting kabab spot. There is a good variety of options for chicken, beef, and lamb. Also there are appetizer options for veggie and non veggie options. Service was great. Food was great as well, although the portion sizes are a bit small compared to similar spots in this area.
Very enjoyable dinner as expected. This is one of the oldest, if not the oldest Afghan restaurant in Hicksville. The service was great. Resturant was nice and clean. The food was everything I was hoping for. I shared food with my girlfriend so we could really experience more flavors. We started with the sambosas, which had a nice crunch to them. We got a few kababs with rice and quabili as well as the lamb shank. Both amazing. Tender meat from both and all unique flavors from the lamb to the chicken to the beef. Highly recommended to all, and it's just a stones throw away from the highways.
After reading reviews, I went yesterday to order food to pickup. I was greeted by owner and placed my order. The owner asked me sit and wait , he gave my complementary tea to drink. Thus restaurant is beautiful, very nice Afghani touched theme ambiance. Very neat and clean to dine in. He also gave me Afghani sweet dish Firni complementary. I ordered jhojha chicken kabab, chicken breast kabab and tilapia fish. All were mouthwatering delicious. Red, green and white sauce was also very tasty. All the ingredients well balanced. Definitely will go back to try another menu items. Update. Today tried lamb curry with naan, it's mouthwatering.
This restaurant has been around for a while. It's always good when we dine here. The owner is always friendly and hospitable. This time, we went on a Sat early evening around 6pm. There was another table (about 8 people). We are greeted promptly (I think she's the owner's daughter) and she was lovely. We got Naan bread and salad. Love their sauces. The white sauce was tangy and I had it on everything. The grilled chicken wings were flavorful with slight kick. I ordered the salmon kebab with brown rice and it was perfectly done. Not fishy at all ...just juicy and tasty. Love their green sauce which is spicy. We also ordered the Barq and Jojeh. Our plates were clean. Ended the meal with Baklava.
They have a wide range of middle eastern dish and kebab on the menu. Also the kebabs are really flavorsome. We ordered lamb chops, shahi kebab and manto for lunch. The amount of rice is more than well enough for one person. The lamb chops were marinated and cooked really well, but I felt like the pieces were kind of small comparing to the price and the proportions were less comparing to rice. They served 3pieces of Manto in one order, which kind of felt little less for one order, but it tasted really good.
Excellent aura.. looks kinda incomplete, but still good. Parking is moderate, the building has a parking on its side, limited.. so good luck.. Food, is good.. If you r looking for Mediterranean or Arab style food then this place is close.. the Hummus felt slightly grainy.. the Kabobs were authentic feel.. Guess Afghan food is like this. The green tea was really toooo good.. The star down for the desert, the Baklava was too soggy and not crispy as if the sugar syrup was poured over the dish and kept for long. Overall a good place and will advice.
We went 3 times there in all three times food quality and taste was good only issue with quantity as per price they should increase their portion size. I asked the owner about portion size, and he said people waste the food. That's why we give less rice, but if you need more rice, you can ask. But he did not mention what if we need more meat ?? Lol Also, one good thing they don't beg for gratuity or service charges like others.
Great tasting authentic Afghani food. I got the combo#1 and I definitely was not disappointed. I left satisfied. I discounted a star due to the bathroom. It certainly needs a refresh and update. I believe the bathroom is a reflection on how much the kitchen is loved. Hopefully they throw that trash can away and address some of the corrosion on the walls. Otherwise friendly and prompt service and great food! Like if you found helpful
Ordered the Tikka kabob for delivery. Says it comes with "house salad", but all I get is raw sliced onions with no dressing. Just straight up raw. Oh, and maybe some garnish to try to make it look pretty. Is this what they call a salad? Meat was actually tasty though. Overall just surprised and a bit offended they could assume they can get away with feeding customers raw onions as a part of their meal.
The place looks great and the server was also very nice. However, the food quantity was ridiculously small. I’ve never seen nickel sized tikke(kabobs). The pic actually shows them much larger than they actually were. The waiter was nice enough to realize how ridiculous the platter was and offered to cancel the order. We walked out hungry.
Price is too high and quantity is too less. For $29 they give as less meat as possible in the platter and lots of rice!! For $17 appetizer they give I do not know that!? I am a foodie and try a lot of places and this was not a good one!! Service was below average and one of the waitress was showing an unnecessary attitude. I do not recommend this place.
Honestly if i can give it no stars i would. We were trying to enjoy our Veterans Day everything seemed good until the salad/appetizer came out. Small portions, 100% not fresh food, Powder Mixed Iced Tea. Meat was spoiled. The rice hard and stall. Green Tea was straight water. Not Authentic at all . Would not recommend this place for anyone. Pricey for no reason wasted money and time.
The food quantity was much less than what we paid for. We ordered 3 platters. The server did not inform us that the quantity we are ordering is not enough for 14 ppl. Upon asking, she said she did not want to inform because her experience with others was not good. Regardless, we would have appreciated if she would have told us that the food is barely enough for 3 ppl. Rice were cold. Server did not bring plates out until asked. That too with an attitude. Her shirt sleeves were going in the plates( disgusting). Server had the worst attitude and this too with the entire restaurant being empty. Yes they gave us the platter on the house, but with worst attitude. Restaurant industry is all about service and quality, and to me this restaurant failed at both. I will never recommend nor go there again..I really think my glasses got thrown away too
Honestly, if I could put a zero star review, I would the food is absolutely disgusting. The meat is very dry. The rice is super dry. The salad that they gave us was completely old .will never ever go there again. Horrible experience will never come back.🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤣🤣🤣
I visited this place for the first time a few days ago and, unfortunately, it was a major letdown. For the high prices they charge, the food simply doesn’t deliver in either quality or portion size. This isn’t the kind of Afghani cuisine you’d expect to find in NYC — it felt more like something from a generic spot in another state. The kebabs were especially disappointing. They were advertised as grilled, but they seemed pan-seared at best — lacking any char, depth of flavor, or authenticity. The rice was just as bland, with no seasoning or character. Overall, the meal felt uninspired and overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend this place, and I definitely won’t be returning.
Super Overly priced restaurant. Food was pretty basic nothing extraordinary. Make sure to check the bill and things ordered properly.
