My husband and I have been coming here since 2008 (around when we first met!). It's always a go-to either with take out or sitting in. It's a quaint place with amazing sushi. And the people that work here are always so friendly.

Absolutely the best Japanese and Chinese food around. I moved out of the area and we come back all the time to visit this restaurant because the food is So Fresh So excellent, the place is adorable and cozy. But most of all the service and the and the staff are just unbelievable they're like family and they make you feel so wonderful. And the price perfect so affordable . Just absolutely love this place!

This is one of the best kept secrets in Hicksville. We have been getting takeout from here for years. Lately we have eaten in. WOW! Wonderful Chinese food as well as great Sushi. Dining at Sakana is a bit like being an explorer in an uncharted sea – you’re never quite sure what exotic delights you'll encounter, but you're certain it will be an adventure. This evening's foray into the culinary deep was no exception, featuring a smorgasbord of sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls that would make even the most seasoned sushi aficionado raise their eyebrows in intrigue. The star of the show, without a doubt, was the Golden Dragon Roll. It arrived at our table with the kind of flourish that would have made even a peacock jealous, and for good reason. This roll wasn't just food; it was a culinary masterpiece, a symphony of flavors wrapped in a seaweed baton. The first bite was akin to finding an unexpected tenner in an old coat pocket – a delightful surprise that leaves you grinning from ear to ear. Each piece of sushi and sashimi was so fresh, I half expected it to leap from the plate and perform a spirited rendition of 'Under the Sea'. The rice was as perfectly seasoned as a Shakespearean monologue, and the fish – oh, the fish! It was as tender and flavorful as a love ballad. In the hands of lesser chefs, a plate of sushi can be just a meal, but at Sakana, it's a journey. A journey through the oceans of the world, without the inconvenience of seasickness. Great place when you want sushi and Chinese! I’ve been coming here for years and the staff has always been pleasant and the food has always been good! I’ve dined in, did take out and delivery and the food has always been consistently good.

My office orders from there at least once a week and now that i know they are up the block from my house i too order from home. Their food is amazing, the flavor is great. I recommend the beef negamaki its soo delicious the sauce they use is FANTASTIC. The girl usually knows my order which i love. If you're looking for a great meal with excellent prices this is the way to go!

Lunch specials are amazing. Sushi is great tasting and priced very well. If I had to say anything is subpar it is their Chinese ans Habachi stuff, but there are other places in the area for that. Go for the sushi. Staff is super nice and friendly.

First time there,of the bat it was a very comfortable and cozy environment. Our server was very attentive and officiant. The food surprised us,it surpassed our expectations.my personal favorite was the fried cheese cake it was amazing.i definitely recommend going here.

Super tasty! I love the variety of ingredients and creative combinations. (My only problem is that my kids ate most of my sushi. My two year old can barely fit the rolls in her teeny mouth. One day, we need a kids' sushi menu, not just hibachi. My children can't be the only ones who steal all my eel!)

this was my first time coming to this restaurant and was hoping the food was good based on the reviews. i was not disappointed. the food was really good. not oily or greasy, and tasted fresh. i ordered the shrimp lomein lunch special, scallion pancakes, and Chicken Mei Fun. i would definitely come back.

Sakana is fantastic and never fails to deliver. We order takeout once a week if not more frequently and the sushi is always fresh and best of all it’s extremely consistent. Cindy is amazing and works hard to make sure orders are correct and made on time. This is our go to when we have guests and have only positive things to say about the food! I love that they have Japanese as well as Chinese, nothing like a few california rolls, some shrimp tempura, and some general Tao Chicken- always a hit!! This is one of the best Chinese/ Japanese restaurants in the area. Their food is always excellent and we’ve never had a bad dining experience. Everyone is so friendly and always has time for our questions and for any recommendations. They even accommodate my picky eater and have made dishes just for them. Their takeout if just as good. The food is excellent and always hot. Sometimes the delivery can take a little while but that’s because it’s can get busy. It happens. We have been loyal customers for years and we will for years to come.

My family has been enjoying Sakana for over a decade and it has never disappointed us.The fact that it serves delicious Chinese AND delicious sushi makes it a staple in our delivery options. Stopped in with a buddy to eat some sushi. I ordered some basic (tuna /avocado roll, and 2 of there more fancier rolls. The size of the rolls were great, and the price was right, considering prices have been rising in todays world. We both enjoyed the sushi, Drinks were canned (which I actually prefer) and the place was clean and attractive. The staff made sure everything was up to par and didn’t rush us out the door while we stayed and chatted for 30min or so after receiving the check. Very happy to eat here, friendly, fresh, DELICIOUS!

My son and I came in and they immediately recognized us and remembered our usual takeout order, I was impressed! They’re very personal and care so much about their food quality and their customers, it really shows. It's a little nugget of a Chinese restaurant in the heart of Hicksville. All items reasonably priced. They also offer Sushi. Definitely give it a go.

Whether it's their sushi, general tso chicken or soup they always serve delicious, fresh, tasty food. In my experience their delivery food has always been hot when I have used their delivery service. Sakana is my all time favorite sushi spot! After trying them out last night as a quick snack, I fell in love! You’re greeted by a sweet lady who is so helpful and kind. I came back the next day to dine in. I ordered the (top) angry dragon roll (middle) fried dragon (bottom) American roll. 10/10 for all the rolls, highly recommend all three. Stopped in for lunch and I was very satisfied. The woman behind the counter was very friendly, and I was welcomed as soon as I walked in. The restaurant smelled like great grilled food. It looked very clean as well. I ordered the 3 roll lunch combo to go. The sushi chef made my rolls with great attention. When I was checking out the menu, I even saw him sharpening and maintaining his blades, which shows me he is focused on his craft. I went with the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and philly roll. All fantastic in taste and size. It also came with a miso soup, which was huge. I never realized how extensive the menu was and how much more than sushi they had. I'll have to swing in for another lunch special!

Let's start with service phenomenal listen she does the work of 3 people take out hostess and server and she is quick too very nice helpful great personality😀 the food comes out perfectly timed between appetizers and dinner. And you have options if your with people who don't like sushi the offer Chinese food and certain hibachi dishes but I loved the sushi it was delicious 😋 👌 and tge appetizers. Went here recently with my husband for a quick late night dinner. To our surprise the food was great and staff was very friendly. I'd come back here for a quick lunch or dinner in the future. I'd recommend the pink lady roll and the general tso chicken.

As for the star rating I based it on the words of others. For my part I was there to pickup and deliver. I wrtte this review solely to offer the following information: As of this writing it's early October '20. Currently they offer no inside seating. Tables are pressed up to the front door leaving enough room for one person to stand. For anyone wanting to eat this establishments cuisine order ahead and you'll need to take it with you.

Clean place with good service followed by delicious food. Their Seafood Choo( rice congee) is a specialty and it's worth a visit to this place 👍

Went here on a date with my husband and it was such a lovely experience. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared, and everything tasted high quality. The atmosphere feels a bit more intimate and special, which makes it perfect for a date night. Service was attentive and thoughtful, and the pacing of the meal was great. Okay quality for the price. I don't recommend getting anything fried as the batter they use is not fresh. Got a sushi roll special and got shrimp tempura and spicy crab. I also got the beef lunch special.. The rice is also not sticky as you may expect. I tried putting into the soup but still feel the texture of it.

My co workers recommended this spot and to be honest— the food was just really generic. The staff was lovely but the food just did NOT hit. Sadly I will not be eating from here again.

Unbelievably disappointed after reading such great reviews. What is moo shu without the pancake,hoisin sauce or plum sauce. None were included in my order. I ordered the chicken nuggets in addition to hit the delivery minimum of $25. 6 pieces of Frozen nuggets for $10 seems exorbitant. The wonton soup was okay.

Though the place is not fancy sushi, it's our go to for my children and their friends when they come over. Their sushi platter is great but their Chinese food is also very delicious. The owner Cindy is the best. Always friendly with great service.

We ordered a hot and sour soup, cold noodles with sesame sauce, tuna tartare, steamed lobster mango roll, and spicy shrimp/kani roll. So sorry, but hot and sour soup and sesame noodles were extremely disappointing. Hot and sour noodle had some weird taste and I couldn’t drink it at all. Sesame noodles had no sesame, and the sauce just tasted like peanut butter. Tuna tartare on the other hand was amazing, and the rolls were also great! They have plenty of dining, and the hostess was very welcoming and friendly. Prices are reasonable.

Ordered pickup from this restaurant on a Friday night. Seemed like there were no dine-ins. Many people for pick-up. There was this one lady at the counter who just couldn't handle it. I walked in, she asked, the Tom yum soup? I said no. She asked: Chicken with garlic sauce? I said yes. She handed it over to me. I paid and left. Food was not anything I'd want to come back for. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

Food was delicious. Unfortunately, my combination plate was a rip off. I’ve never, in all the years I’ve gotten combination plates, seen so little rice in my plate. Three full pieces of chicken and about 4 spoonfuls of rice. You’re better off paying full price for separate items than getting a combination plate. Paid $14 for that and got way less food than my full-priced lo mein/shrimp and broccoli/singapore noodles. Very disappointing considering how good the food was. Not worth getting a combination plate in the future. That’s my warning! Otherwise, def give Sakana a try :)

First time eating from this place and I am not impressed. We ordered from this place for my office, I got the hibachi steak and received white rice, steak requested medium, it came in broth...seasoning isn’t bad; but it isn’t great. Frozen shrimp that has been in a fridge too long, you can clearly smell the non-freshness of the shrimp. The soup for the first time tastes great, if you mix the broth with the rice, it makes the flavor be “expected”. Overall, I’ve had better hibachi. The best part of the meal was from my co-workers plate, chicken. Great taste, amazing seasoning. The steak was subpar. I recommend if you have to get anything, chicken hibachi, or stay away from the hibachi all together. Usually, when I open up to a new place, I allow my taste buds to do the talking for me. Most of the time if something is amazing, my reaction is typically “wow, this is amazing!” Unfortunately, I did not encounter this feeling with this meal.

First time coming. We were hunting for Japanese food and found the perfect compromise during the beginning of dinner time on a Friday night. We were the only couple in the restaurant which also offered Chinese cuisine. Service was great and the food we ordered came out fast. Waitress was polite and friendly, but the only thing I would change is their advertisement of 50% off sushi which was displayed outside the restaurant. One of the reasons we why went in, but the promotional offer had already expired!

Restaurant owner Cindy ask me to write a good review on google after a few time stops there, usually I order some cooked kitchen stuff here, and have the sushi in different restaurant. Then I saw that there were good reviews about her sushi , so I try that sushi @ sakana couple days ago, the sashimi and rolls were in a big plate together, my son and daughter just ate that half , then I found that sashimi and rolls had kinda strange smells, so I stopped my kids and throw all the food to trash can. Unfortunately, my kids all got the stomachache, and had loose bowels. Until today they are just feeling better .I think because of frozen fish, not fresh at all , maybe John’s review is correct( he mentioned all fish @sakana sushi bar are frozen)…Anyway I won’t be back again to sakana. BTW, I saw Winter vpn Hallow’s review gave 5 stars with pictures, that is not tobiko at all , that is cheap masago ,you are deceived by restaurant . Well , maybe the people here (who give good reviews) don’t know what is the real fresh sushi , lack of common sense about sushi stuff. The owner ask everyone to give the good reviews I guess.
