This is my fourth time here, and it’s absolutely delicious. The quality of the meat matches the price. Their set meals are really good. We also ordered Miyazaki beef separately; the Miyazaki beef with rice melted in our mouths, the meat was incredibly juicy and flavorful. I really love this restaurant. It‘s a high-end Wagyu beef restaurant.🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Great experience celebrating a friends milestone birthday. Came here on a Wednesday night and wasn’t too busy. Waiter was super friendly and helpful. We opted to splurge and do the coursed meal, the Miyazaki at $150pp. Everything was delicious and many of the courses were first time for us. The waiter helped grill most of them and helped us understand the different cuts. Ended the meal with not only the sorbet but with a nice cheesecake slice! Would love to come back but not for a regular meal, it needs to be for a special occasion!!
In the 3 years we spent on island, Han no Daidokoro was our go to spot for celebrations and just to treat ourselves. I have told everyone I worked with that this is the place to go for wagyu and it’s worth the money. EVERY ITEM IS AMAZING! Down to the fresh wasabi, which I could literally eat by the spoonful. The best wagyu, service, and atmosphere! Our last dinner on Oahu was spent here. We let our server (I wish I could remember his name) know how often we had been here and how much we love it, and then they brought us a complimentary dessert with a sparkler to thank us! It was such a nice end to our meal and our time on the island! If we ever go back to Oahu, Han no Daidokoro will be a must visit spot! We miss it dearly!
Ever leave a meal already planning your return??? This place is legit… Best beef I’ve had since we were in Kobe… Han no Daidokoro is five stars without trying to be trendy… I went for the Miyazaki chef’s cuts… (highly recommended) Rich, buttery, perfectly greedy… Also served with some top shelf wasabi… Started with the kim chee trio… (the ideal opener) Bright, complex, and dialed in… Impeccable A5 wagyu…. (Staff that anticipates instead of reacts) You can taste the intention in every cut… If you’re going to go big…. This is where you do it… Mahalo you guys 😎🤙
Today I got to try the Spicy Soup and it was great. The side dishes were extremely good also. The service was very friendly and helpful, but they seem to be short on workers as I had to wait some. But I would still give them 5 stars as I could see that they did their best.
This is the first time I’ve had a server who was so kind and attentive. His name is Sean, and he took care of our table in an incredibly professional way. We ordered the $125 PP, and he looked after us perfectly from start to finish. I rarely write such detailed reviews, but we had such an enjoyable and delicious dinner that I just had to. The quality of the meat was excellent and absolutely delicious. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and will be coming back for sure. The food was amazing, and our server was incredibly friendly. Thank you so much!
One of the best Yakuniku meals I ever had and it was super special because we ate here for my birthday. :))) SO GOOD! -excellent and attentive service. They helped cook for us. -Everything is top-tier quality and super fresh melt in your mouth -Extremely clean and beautiful ambience at this location -Highly recommend the Japanese meats….Miyazaki Chefs cuts. INCREDIBLE -sukiyaki beef was also really delicious and fresh melt in your mouth -the salt salad was really good
I've been a regular at this restaurant ever since it opened. It's really versatile—I often go for lunch because of their great value sets, but I also come for dinner when I want a more upscale experience. The staff is always friendly, and the food is consistently delicious, so I highly recommend it. If you plan on going for dinner, I suggest making a reservation. The place is also perfect for business dinners. A major plus is that the ventilation is excellent, so you don't have to worry about your clothes smelling like barbecue when you leave.
Meat quality was superb, many Japanese A5 and American wagyu to choose from. They have many great side dishes like stone pot bibimbap, spicy soup, lettuce wraps and kimchi. Service was also excellent. Great experience here, we will definitely come back when we're in the area.
Came here on a Wednesday evening with my family (including 2 kids). We had a reservation that we were late 30 minutes for but they happily accommodated us upon informing them we’d be late. We got three orders of the Miyazaki Beef Chef’s Cut, Egg Soup, and Namul Assortment of the Day. Everything was delicious! The soup was flavorful and comforting and the namul was a great accompaniment for the meat. I can say that the Miyazaki beef is one of the best meats I’ve ever had. It’s so tasty and melts in your mouth. My family, who have been to Japan, said that the Miyazaki beef is comparable to the wagyu they’ve had there. I thought the portion was just right considering the price and quality of the meat. I felt satisfied but for someone with a bigger appetite, one order of the chef’s cut may not be enough. The service was excellent. The server was very friendly and helpful, she gave suggestions on what to order. The food came relatively quickly. The place had good ventilation, and we didn’t smell of bbq afterwards. They also gave my sister a complimentary cheesecake because it was her birthday! The place is modern-looking and very clean, neat, and spacious. We got street parking pretty easily. Overall, we had a wonderful experience here. Would definitely come back!
Stopped by for lunch. Food was so good I forgot to take pictures. Had the lunch special and enjoyed it immensely. Although the typical yakiniku place is only as good as you cook it, this was amazing. You’d have to really mess it up for it to be bad. Quality was excellent, service was top notch.
Authentic Japanese yakiniku restaurant. The menu is less americanized comparing to a few other places I’ve been. The miyazaki set menu worths it. I thought it would be a bunch of tiny samplers like in Japan but I walked out very full. The quality of the meat is probably the best I’ve ever had in the US and on par with what I had in Japan. The non-yakiniku items in the set menu are surprisingly good as well. We love the salad, kimchi (has some real spiciness) and the matcha ice cream. Each course was served to the table quickly and the best way of cooking was explained. Our server cooked the sukiyaki beef for us. Our dietary preferences were respected and they did substitutions to make the meal more enjoyable to us. The only thing we don’t like about the experience was the smoke from the grilling, which irritates the eyes badly. I have seen many other BBQ restaurants to have this issue, though. They just need more powerful vents.
Absolutely the best beef I've had in my life. The quality of meat is bar none. We got the Miyazaki Beef course, which was expensive and worth every penny. Every single dish was fantastic. We also got the fried garlic - delicious.
Great find in Ala Moana Area (just West of Waikiki) for Japanese Yakiniku (grilled meat). Went here for lunch with 2 visiting friends to test this restaurant out. We had a reservation for 11:30am on a Monday, but since it was raining we ducked into the restaurant at 11:05, and the waiter - Brad sat us early while we were waiting for our third. Brad took the time to explain the difference between Miyazaki and Washu. (Being big beef-snobs, we were well aware of the differences, but we loved his clear explanation nevertheless.) Brad explained that although both are Wagyu, Miyazaki is the Japanese sourced one from Kyushu Island while the Washu is an American hybrid that's been bred with Japanese cow. He mentioned that the Miyazaki has a softer texture (better marbling), while the Washu has a stronger beef flavor. We ended up ordering a Washu Set and a Miyazaki set to taste the difference for ourselves. Additionally we ordered the Kimchi Assortment and the Namul Assortment. (With these available, we realized that this was a Japanese / Korean hybrid restaurant more strong on the Japanese side). The banchan (Korean side dishes) of Kimichi and Namul were both refreshing and delicious. The meats / cuts were excellent as expected - all of us agreed that the Miyazaki won overall, although the Washu Filet was outstanding as well! We ended up asking for another order of the Miyazaki Rib Roll, which was by far the most succulent, buttery A5 we've had this year. None of the meats required any salt/pepper, but the addition of freshly ground wasabi was a good complement to the high-end meats. The total after tip was just under $300, which is expensive but not unexpected for 3 people. If $$$ weren't a consideration, this would be my goto restaurant for yakiniku every day. Next time, I will try the $120/person set.
The food was absolutely excellent, featuring top-quality Miyazaki and Kuroge Wagyu beef that melted in my mouth. Our waiter made this birthday celebration feel even more special with his polite, attentive service. He checked in on us regularly and took the time to explain each dish, including details about the cuts and where they came from. It felt personal and genuine, especially when he shared his own favorites and even talked a bit about his daughter. The prices are high, but it’s well worth it for the quality and experience.
One of the best meals I’ve had on Oahu, and I’ve lived here all my life. I got the Washu beef signature course. I feel like most places that offer a course menu in Hawaii don’t execute it well, but Han no Daidokoro is the exception. The courses were well paced and flowed well, and the dishes complemented each other. Of course, all of the beef was excellent. Tender and flavorful, regardless of if it was served with a sauce, marinated, or on its own. The $85 price tag seemed high at first, but can now say confidently that the meal is worth it. I left feeling full and very satisfied.
We are Wine Educators as well as Wine Consultants formerly from NYC so we take restaurant reviews very seriously. My wife is an amazing Chef/Cook so we really don’t have to go out for dinner too much. Han No Daidokoro was a true epiphany and we have rarely used this term when reviewing a restaurant. We love US Prime beef and we usually have it shipped to us here on Oahu either from Snake River Farm or Peter Luger. Our knowledge and experience with Wagu Beef either from Japan or the mainland is very minuscule so with the unbelievable help of our Master Waitstaff Shizue we ordered the 2 Miyazaki & Washu courses. This included both Japanese and American Wagu from different parts of the cow. Shizue was a total master in teaching us what parts of the cow and where each portion was from. The Japanese portion was to die for. So complex it can only be compared to Uni from Hokkaido or white truffles from Italy. Being both Wine Educators as well as Elementary School Teachers we were overjoyed with her techniques and warmth. We only hope we get her or someone similar the next time we come back. Of course the Japanese meat was overwhelming the best. Even the kimchi and salad were great. We did bring our own wine ( $35 corkage) which truly married the meat. The ambiance was so refreshing and relaxing. The total gastronomic experience. Worth every $$$.
The A5 Miyazaki Wagyu was amazing! Our server G was so helpful and kind. He cooked the wagyu for us and it was honestly one of the best service we had. We are definitely coming back here once we visit Hawaii again.
Great restaurant! We arrived earlier than our reservation time and they let us in immediately. The food is amazing, very high quality meat!! I suggest going for the $150 option, the meat was so tender, melting in your mouth!
Made reservations here hearing such good feedback from my friends for this spot. We came as a group of 4 and our waiter was super friendly and gave us his honest opinion on the amount of food we should order. We had the Miyazaki Chef’s Cut ($78 per person), 2 assorted kimchi dishes, beef tongue, Miyazaki sukiyaki, beef sashimi. Our favorites were the sirloin and rib cap cuts in the chef’s cut — so good we ordered another order of each of those cuts. The fresh wasabi was great on top of most pieces too! We had a cheesecake at the end to celebrate my babymoon, which was a sweet gesture. The total came out to be around $740 without tips and tax. On the pricier side but the quality of meat and service was well worth it. I highly recommend this spot and would love to be back the next time I’m here. I also appreciate not smelling like bbq when I left :)
I've ever had lunch & dinner, both at Hanno Daidokoro. At the lunch, I ordered soup as well. It was not authentic Korean soup taste, but it was not bad either. This is Japanese style-Korean Yakiniku restaurant. At the dinner, we had Miyazaki Beef & Washugyu Beef course. All my people were satisfied with their food & very nice service. Especially, Natsumi & Jisoo & manager treated us very kindly. The restaurant is clean and interior design is also refined. It's good enough to get 5-star already, but only two things, if the sink water in the restroom comes out smoother and the floor on the way restroom is not greasy, this restaurant will be definitely 5++ star for me. Price is not cheap, but high-quality Wagyu & good flavor & nice service & nice atmosphere, so it's worthy. I will definitely come back when my friends & family visit Hawaii. Thank you for your service.
Tried 4 Japanese restaurants including Sashimi, sukiyaki, and tempura from 6/6-6/8, this wagyu one is the best. Chosen the $120 per person but absolutely worth it. Needless to say, the quality of the wagyu is perfect. Even the flavor of small dishes including the final ice cream is delicious and delicate. I occasionally forgot my credit card there but the server called me right away. 5 stars for everything!

Great experience. Very high quality Japanese authentic food. Good service, good location, good value for money.
Beautiful presentation, romantic ambiance, and most importantly…the highest quality beef I’ve ever tasted! Everything was so delicious. This was our last dinner on our Hawaii vacation and what a high note to end on. I would recommend everyone come here to celebrate a special occasion.
Hands down one of the top meals I have ever had in my life. Everything was completely perfect, but will share some highlights from our 9 course meal. Loved the fresh, real wasabi and put it on most of the amazing beef courses we had. I've never had so much beef this good in one meal. Green tea ice cream was perfect to finish everything off. Popcorn lovers should try the corn tea- different and really nice. Service was flawless.
Premium beef tongue is the best! For the Miyazaki wagyu, I think the top 3 are: rib finger, rib cap and rib roll. Grilled sukiyaki is also great, if you are ok with the raw eggs. And the matcha green tea ice cream is surprisingly good. Overall it's a great place to enjoy Miyazaki wagyu, the set menu is usually more than enough for one person.
Great service and the Miyazaki tasting course is what we went for. Everything was fresh and the waiter explain every cut to us, and the proper way of eating each. I was still hungry tho, but still worth it.
We went here for a friend’s birthday, a party of 6. Place a reservation to avoid a wait. Our server was Brandon (A+!!!), he did an amazing job at hosting us and sharing each of the Wagyu dishes we got. We opted for the 11 course for $150 pp. Honestly, it was 1000% worth it. If you’re not too much of a fan, there are options starting at $85 as well :) We loved every Wagyu dish that came out. It was just a wonderful experience all around. We’ve been to Hawaii 3 times this year and this restaurant was by far memorable for the exquisite meat. This is a MUST if you love Wagyu.
High quality meat. Loved the pate and beef tongue sashimi Def come for happy hour! Tomato salad was my fav pupus!
Been in this place twice on one week!! This place is absolutely amazing! The meat is out of this world and pretty much feels like a ball of butter in your mouth! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Definitely need reservations for this place. I tried the omakase one night which was expensive but totally worth every dollar. The other night I shared a chef’s cut (phenomenal), salad and kimchi. Highly recommend this option if you want to get the best meat and salad. Definitely don’t miss the desserts - mascarpone ice cream and yuzu sorbet
Miyazaki beef is definitely higher quality than Kobe. Had the chef’s selection & it melted in my mouth. The beef tongue was great too. Great service & ambiance was nice. Pricey, but worth the splurge.
Great food, cocktails and excellent service! We tried the Miyazaki and Washu beef course to compare the two types. I preferred the Miyazaki and my husband preferred the Washu so it worked out well. Will go again when back in Honolulu. I was so busy enjoying the meal, I forgot to photograph a few courses or remembered while in process of eating (so photo quality is poor). Past visit (9/2021) This is an update from our current visit (7/2022). This time we both had the Miyazaki course and enjoyed it even more!
Food was amazing! Had the $85 per person, was amazing and perfect amount of food with the added tongue and rice on the side. The courses didn’t include tongue, which I wish it did. The tongue as soft and not chewy. Our waiter was very friendly and always checked on us. They did forget about our anniversary but how good the food was made up for it.
We ordered assorted beef tongue, Miyazaki beef chef's cut for 2 people, washu yukhoe, bibimbap, and two chu-hi. Meat quality was very good. Yukhoe was also good but I would suggest ordering bibimbap with it so you can mix them together. Otherwise, yukhoe alone is more bland than usual yukhoe you eat from Korea. The server was really nice and attentive : )
Insanely good💣💥I've been all over the world, dined at beautiful, high end steak and sushi restaurants, only to have realized last night that the very best was in my own backyard! Loved the sushi, enjoyed the different ones, the one with caviar being my favorite, although it just doesn't need it! I've often been leery of restaurant offerings that pop on caviar, truffles, uni, gold flakes to make you feel more upper class or as an excuse to cost more, their rich slices are purrrrfectly created...we had to keep ordering more...was it 4 or 6 each? Their wasabi should have its own spotlight! The 3 appetizer sampler had lovely drops of the Wasabi, yuzu kosho and spicy, freshly grated garlic. I used them for palate cleansers. I don't need to have any more of the yuke jang, or the sampler now that I know what I love there❤. The chateau briand cut was our favorite so we had 2 orders, they may suggest you cook it medium to medium well but it was tastier at medium rare, beef tongue was divine, see pics from our ala carte dining experience. We had a bottle of the Kubota junmai daiginjo ($145) and were able to pick our own sake cups...love doing that❤ There was probably a way to eat for less there but we wanted only the best so it was almost $800 for the 2 of us...There were families with small children and locals, 20 and 30 somethings. Reservations are far out to about a month away. We will be heading back in a few weeks. Can't wait...
Ji Soo was our server and he was amazing! We were so impressed with the service and food. I am pregnant and he took care making sure my raw beef selections were seared a little extra. Everything we ate was delectible. We each had the 9 course meals and added egg soup and the kimchee assortment and we were stuffed. We live on Kauai but whenever we come back to Oahu, this place will be on our must eat at list. I highly reccomend this experience.
Yakiniku style dining at its finest. The 10 course Miyazaki set was phenomenal. I found myself mumbling the words “wow” and “mmm” the whole meal. Ambience was fast, fun, and professional. Highly recommend. On the expensive side, but worth it. You will not experience any place like this anywhere else in Hawaii.
Although the food was amazing, I wanted to highlight the absolute generosity of the workers. They were kind and attentive. The day that I went, I was set to get on a plane a couple hours after. After dinner, I left a bag that was holding all the things I needed to fly (important cards, boarding ticket, etc.) on my seat. I walked across the street to the Whole Foods and I felt a tap on my shoulder. One of the employees ran across the street to give me my bag! To me, that kind of service is above and beyond. He just smiled and left just as quick as he’d come. I’m appreciative of all the workers there, but especially him. He’s the gentleman that greeted us and sat us down at our table. I’ll forever be grateful. I recommend this place if you’re looking for genuine human beings!
We had the $125 PP set. Outstanding. Great service, great meat, great sake. The wagyu experience was as good or better than what we have had in Japan. Will be back soon.
The food was phenomenal and our waitress was so kind!! She was so helpful and informative. She probably congratulated us at least 5 times on our wedding. We did the 150.00 Miyazaki wagyu course, and it was the best meal/experience I've ever had.
Wagyu is always good, fatty and tender. However, Han no didn’t beat our expectations. We tried a lot of wagyu restaurants before, so nothing surprised us here. The set (150/person) is worth the price, strongly recommend a couple to share. Don’t order by person lmao, sharing one set and trying something else too! Anyway, I like this place.
The Miyazaki ribeye roll really had the melt-in-mouth texture. Super! Washu beef also tasted really good. Super tender and soft. Fresh wasabi and the house made soy sauce enhanced the flavor. The place gives a vibe of a restaurant in Tokyo. We also ordered the spicy ramen at the end which turned out to be pretty good for a BBQ place! The service was not on par with the food though. The guy appeared to be distracted, looking at other directions while talking. I was interrupted a couple of times because he turned and talked to some other servers while I was talking to him.
TL;DR: It's good, but not mind blowing. If you've never had A5 wagyu this is a good way to experience it. With a few tweaks it would definitely be a 5 star rating. Long version: I want to give 5 stars, I really do, but at this price point I just have higher standards. The service was excellent and deserves 5 stars; my server was friendly, attentive, and extraordinarily helpful. It's the flow of the meal and two of the dishes where the restaurant faltered a bit. I understand the need to turn over tables, but when your next course comes out before you've even finished cooking the previous one, you tend to feel rushed. Out of the 11 courses, five were absolutely delicious, the first course shockingly so. The two disappointments were the steamed beef and dessert. I recommend asking them to just add the meat for the steamed beef to the salt course. The basket steaming took a beautiful piece of meat and turned it into a bland, unattractive dish. I wish I had photographed it, but it was unremarkable enough that I forgot. The homemade mascarpone ice cream had a wonderful flavor but there were too many larger ice crystals in it, so it was just not creamy.
Great experience, good for special occasion. Short rib and seaweed salad was our fave. “Spicy” Kimchee soup was hardly spicy and actually on the sweet side. Banchan were okay.
Overall a pretty good experience. It's definitely worth a try if you're in to eating different meats. The Miyazaki beef was unlike any other beef I've tried. At the end of the day, it's an experience. Don't know if I need to try it again but I'd gladly accept an invitation if someone else pays
Great Authentic Japanese Restaurant! Here you can find a wide selection of the high quality meat. We were satisfied by everything, the service was great a well. Meat was delicious and liked that they give you a piece of fat to grease the grill.
Food was amazing but the service was not on par. There was obviously a language barrier and the :translator help was just as bad. I think to really enjoy this restaurant to the fullest you need to speak Japanese
Somehow our reservation wasn’t made or was lost, but they were able to fit us in. For me at least, this was one of those once-in-a-lifetime things to try. The experience was neat, but I was left questioning the value for what I just ate. 2 lbs of beef was $600.
We ordered the Miyazaki beef chef's cut and it was not tasty at all, only greasy and some pieces were even smelley. Very different from the beef we had in Japan e.g. Jojoen. Bibimbap was good though.
