This Hart's Chicken Buffet has great chicken but the star of the buffet is the fried fish. Fantastic and the cole slaw is the best. Enjoy!!

Like most Hartz, it's run down (** Edit to add this location has gone back to corporate and the building has had a bit of a refresh since I reviewed it**) but it's (still) consistently really good, the staff has never messed up an order. It's my go to when I want to bring home chicken.

This location is by far the best on the north side of town. The food is always fresh, so a little extra wait is never a problem. Never disappointed when visiting this location, absolutely recommend for the family!!!

I grew up with a hartz chicken where I'm from and you never knew what you were going to get. However this hartz location has restored my humanity in hartz chicken. Your reviews speak for themselves and you guys are awesome. I came and ordered the 8pc for 7.99 and an order of okra last week. I can still taste it today lol! The chicken and okra was fresh, hit and delicious! Keep up the good work guys! I'll definitely be doing a lot more service with you guys. Thank you for the wonderful service.

Been there many times, and never had any problems with this place. The food from the buffet was always good, and I love their yeast rolls with gravy!

2 of the hardest working people keep this restaurant a favorite for me. If the doors are open they are there. The food is always fresh and they have some of the best fish and chicken in town.

This Hartz chicken restaurant is under new management and it couldn't have happened soon enough, old owners were very rude and unfriendly, restaurant was filthy and run down, flies on food at the salad bar, it was time for a change and the new management and team are EXTREMELY FRIENDLY always polite it's so nice and cleaning inside and out. The food is always fresh. Just what we needed in our neighborhood. I use to drive to the Hartz on Pinemont Dr.becuase of poor service at the one on Messner. So glad I can drive less than 2 miles to Hartz chicken now. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER !!!

Hartz is my go-to for good fried chicken when I don't want to fry chicken at home. They have a variety of sides to choose from, mildly seasoned so a wider variety of palates are accommodated. The location on Gessner is very clean and has an inviting atmosphere. Staff is friendly and best of all, the prices are extremely reasonable!

My favorite place to get some good chicken. You're blessed if you meet my black lady friend there, she'll give you a royal familiar treatment.

Yo this Hartz is actually Hartz Warming". My mom and I came here on a Sunday for lunch. The environment was totally inviting and welcoming. From the cooks cash register to management were fantastic. Food was superb. Definitely will come here again. I only know Tamekas name, but these accolades go to the entire store.

This place has recently been taken over by new owners. Their food now is definitely much better and pricing is one of the best in the area for fried chicken at the moment. They have a buffet as well that I see many people eating at for a reasonable price. The fried chicken is fresh because they sell a lot of it and it is made frequently.

It is a franchise, family run store with great quality fresh food. It is not a French bistro so if you understand what to expect, it is quite excellent. One of the few places where you can get chicken gizzards and livers. Their pea salad is a treat, but not available often. I do a take out from this store. Never disappointed. Honest people. excellent food. Highly recommended.

Always excellent chicken! Been going to this location for more than 15 years and the quality is very consistent. The sourdough rolls are to die for! If you prefer the buffet, they have a variety of choices that are always fresh and hot. Their green beans are fantastic! They even have fish and it is pretty darn good too. Weng, Grace, and Karen are exceptional people who work hard and really care about the community.

Remodeling is now finished; place is better then ever with same great food and only slightly higher prices. Still a great deal! Like the buffet lunch selections, eat there often and can recommend!!

Great place, very clean, fresh always hot food on the buffet, the chicken and fish are always in abundance. You don't have to wait on food to be cooked, just as the food get low there's a refill of more coming out the fryer, pot and oven. No doubt this place is AWESOME!

This was the best place for chicken since 2019!!! I remembered when I was 6 and I tasted this chicken before covid happened. the recent time I had Hartzs was Monday, the wait was 10 minutes because I had a lot of food, NOT SLOW SERVICE!!! the food was delicious and the chicken was tendery and juicy (no Diddy no Diddy!) and I also had fries and mash potatoes and they were hot and ready. the bread was fresh and hot. The gravy was hot and not cold. I would recommend this place when your hungry 🍗🥔🍟🍞😋🍽!!!

I ordered the 7 piece chicken strip combo, all was served fresh. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The restroom was very clean, so was the lobby. The dine-in ketchup was cool to the touch as if it was recently removed from the refrigerator/cooler. All visible staff at this business was friendly, they greeted customers as they entered. Overall this dine-in experience was more than a 5 star and I highly recommend it to future customers.

Went with my friend for the senior buffet. It was really good. Great selection to choose from and reasonably priced. Clean inside and outside. The people that work there were really nice as well.

It’s a clean and nice place to eat under 15$. Management is always there but there a big girl which I guess is her daughter needs a attitude check if she’s going to be working in customer service.

Know the owners for a long time now they have always been nice and to other customers that been going as well. Also they always make fresh food when they get more customers in not like some other Buffet's just make you eat the same old food.

The buffet is very good each time and they allow you to take it to go in my case I'm still working and need to grab and go the management is awesome had issue with staff she can be a bit heartless when I would come after work before buffet ends so I just stop my bus during my shift to avoid her all together.

I don't eat here often or non peak hrs, however at 6pm on a week night the food taste great and fresh! I take my guys here for lunch sometimes around 1145 and again it never disappoints.... Don't be afraid of the buffet either, the owners keep this place clean.

The Fried Chicken is the star in this buffet, the rest of the sides offerings could use a little more flavor, mashed potatoes are a little dried , and so is the rice. Salad is simple, the bread is tasteless, corn, green beans are bad. Overall, if you craving a good fried chicken on a buget, this is the place.

I love hartz but this place is very stingy on food. They picky about what food the put out on buffet verses what they pack in to go orders. I watched 2 normal goers complain about there service everything they come to eat. I will not go back to this location ever.

first time visting this buffet location .First impression was it was clean and I was greeted immediately upon walking in. The actual buffet table was small and I was disappointed compared to the other hartz buffet I have been to .No fried okra,no fries,no stewed tomatoes,no cabbage no king ranch chicken.None of my favorites so I don't know why they charge $16 for what they offer,I had called the previous day to make sure the buffet was the same on weekends as during the week .Other than the chicken nothing had any seasonings at all and was tasteless.The staff was nice but the food was lacking and the price ridiculous. I will NEVER come back here.

On a positive note the customer service was good. The food was freshly made and that was the reason for the 2 stars. I grew up eating Hartz chicken and I typically frequent the Fondren N Main location or the MoCity location, that being said…this is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RECIPE these folks are using. It’s like a previous chicken spot was there and they kept their recipe. Doesn’t taste like Hartz whatsoever. You can tell by how dark the fries are as well as the chicken (it was not seasoning) it was cooked in old grease. In addition, the chicken was not even crispy!! I opened it in the parking lot and sampled it. The only thing valid was the dinner rolls. I was so annoyed but there was no reason for me to take it back, it’s not like they could have changed the recipe or grease to remake my food. Lesson learned, I can’t come back here. It’s nothing I hate worse than wasting money on food that I don’t enjoy.

I went to the restaurant for the fried catfish. No one greeted me, looked at menu board, saw what I wanted, went to beginning of service line, got a tray, plastic plate and drink cup. Lady from takeout window came to me, no greeting, no smile, said you want buffet, I said no and she them scolded me for taking the tray and plate. Apparently I did not know my manners or the routine. Excuse me, no one greeted me and asked what I would like. After she kept telling me about what I did wrong, I left and won't be back. With that attitude, I don't see how they can stay in business.

Owner is a cranky old bat! Couldn't keep chicken stocked and still raw when we finally got some. Hot wings were soggy. Only slimey boiled okra on buffet line. Couldn't get the friend okra unless ordered off menu...I will never go back!!

Horrible service, one of the old attendees gave me a leaking cup of soda and it spilled in my car. When i told her about it she didnt apologize and blamed me for the cup. If you dont want to be in the service business, do not be in it. I have been coming there for a while, they obviously do not care about customers. Never going there again.

Chicken and chicken livers on the buffet were over cooked to start with and had been sitting there a good while before I got the buffet. Seems if you want something fresh you have to go through the drive through.

I went through the drive thru order the 3 piece wings special and the drive thru special and it was cooked in old grease and fish grease. It tasted horrible. Then claimed that the price went up.

I read the reviews before coming to this location, because the one on Westheimer isn’t as good as the previous locations I’ve been to. I always try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, so I visited anyways. They are correct. The employees are rude. I called because I wanted to ask for liver/gizzards to be cooked soft, and she hung up in my face. I’m not sure if it’s the owner or not, but I have been in customer service for 15 years and I have NEVER hung in a customers face. I wasn’t rude at all, and even tried explaining that it’s not considered raw or undercooked. It just keeps the skin from being over cooked. I LOVE food, but I will not be visiting this location again.

The very worst service I've ever had in any establishment ever. While waiting for my order ( yes, I had to wait 15 for french fries to cook!) , I overheard every other customer in the place also complaining about the absolute worst service. I come to this location once a week for lunch and always order the same thing. They woo sometimes cut me off while I’m ordering which I have been tolerant with. Today was the last straw. The lady that works there cut me off twice when ordering and I still didn’t get to fully completely state my order. When she came to the window, I confronted her about it and she started yelling at me and saying she didn’t have time for it as she was short-staffed and out of a lot of food items. She was extremely rude and I have had enough. They have lost a loyal customer due to their unprofessionalism.

You drive up to drive thru and this business not only did not answer after 5 min of waiting, when I called the rude lady hung up in my face the first time and I thought maybe it was a mistake. I called back and told her I tried to drive thru and she rudely said why don’t you come in and stop calling! Wth as a client this is unacceptable! If your busy simply tell your customer one moment when waiting at the speaker. They defiantly don’t appreciate customers or respect them! Wanted to get just a drive thru combo at 6:45pm and didn't think I would have to wait at least 20 minutes for nothing. I just decided to leave cause it's not like I'm waiting for top quality chicken either.

I ate here today with two of my kids . Everything was so dry and , when I asked for chicken strips it took them almost 15 min for 6 pieces . Chicken, fish everything was old . And as I was waiting a customer had ordered a lg coleslaw in the drive thru and the granny went and pulled it off the bar had probably been sitting out all day as everyone been digging in it. They definitely need to hire people who can at least fry chicken , and make make Mac and cheese. I won’t be back.

Very disappointed in our first visit at this location. My husband and I walked in, waiting to pay for the buffet. Waiting 7 minutes without being acknowledged, but the customer facing employees both looked at us lots of times, but continued helping other people instead. After 7 minutes of being ignored, I grab a plate and start getting food from the line. AT THAT POINT, the man acknowledges me and only says “YOU PAY BEFORE YOU EAT” well, that’s what we had been waiting for the entire 7 minutes and you didn’t say a word until you saw me grabbing food. No apology, but an excuse from the drive thru girl, “WE HAVE A LOT OF ORDERS” I actually do not care how many orders you have. Customer service doesn’t depend on if you have lots of orders or not. Also, don’t give me excuses on why you didn’t provide better service for your customers. NEW ONES AT THAT. The man behind the counter actually laughed and just walked away when we told him about his and the other girls crappy service. You’re just letting me know your customer service is situational. In the food industry, customer service should be exceptional no matter how busy or how bad your day is. You’re representing a company. DO BETTER. Think about the next time someone wants to support your business and you treat them like this. Disgusting. Food was good though. That’s all they have going for them.
