Came here for brunch and it did not disappoint. Perfect place to go in a beautiful day. There are a lot of outdoor seating, and ordering is easy—there are two bars set up on the outdoor areas to set your order. Serve your own water. The food was absolutely delicious! The french toast was weighty and fluffy at the same time. The brisket hash was very delicious also, the potatoes stayed crispy even with the brisket on top. Food came out quickly. Need to go back!
Breakfast was delightful. Honey Chicken biscuit- yum! The bestie had breakfasf hash which was yummy too. Campfire martini wasn't my speed, but there is a great selection of drink options. 10 out of 10, going again!
I wish I took pictures of the food but it was amazing. I had the fried french toast and the breakfast plate (soft scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes). Eric was our waiter and he was deliberate and engaging. We sat outside and the patio was nice however the flies outside were swarming over our table.
Leeland House is one of our go-to brunch spots in the area. Eric greeted us as we were led to our table in the back patio. They had a DJ playing some tunes. The sun was out and there was a nice breeze. Just a perfect Saturday morning. Thank you, Dan, for serving us too! If you have not been, you must go.
5 stars all around for sure! The menu offers several delectable yet oh-so-delightful choices in entrées. There's also the mouthwatering palatable selection of libations to quench your thirst! The service is A1. The staff although busy are very friendly and professional, the staff are the heart of this restaurant, and they all do an awesome job at keeping the areas clean, the food and drinks served and delivered, and they just give an overall good vibe. The atmosphere of the Leeland House makes me feel like I'm at home. Great food, fantastic drinks, and wonderful music overall this is one of the best brunch spots I've been to, in Houston, TX. It's a whole vibe. OMG! Had to edit. I left out one other great aspect of this hot spot !!! IT'S PET FRIENDLY !!!🥰 As long as you have a very cool-headed fur baby, you're in! It's a great spot for the ENTIRE family. Toodles! 😉
I love Leeland House! The food is always an hit and the customer service are always 10/10! Lex was so sweet and the perfect server and Jorge made the best lattes I’ve had here yet! Honorable mention: Aaliyah was such a sweet host!
I frequent this place almost every Saturday and order the same thing. Last week was the worst experience I’ve ever had here. I get that with new management comes new operations, but I waited an hour for my food and they couldn’t get my order right after 3 attempts. Again, I get the same thing every week for years. Nonetheless, I came back today not wanting to eat but just to be with friends, and Eric really made me like this place again. I really appreciate his attentiveness and willingness to change my mood around. 5 stars for him.
This a great place for brunch before the Astros game. It has a great Houston vibe and the food and drinks are amazing. We had Bloody Mary's to start with....theywere awesome. We had the shrimp and grits, honey chicken biscuit, and the creme brulle French toast. I liked the shrimp and grits the best. We finished off with a caramel macchiatto. This is a must visit if you are in Houston on Sunday morning!! All of it was less than $100!!!
This place was awesome far as outdoor seating and atmosphere vibe. The food was great, well plated, and extremely delicious. Some of my meal was just warm, but the flavor compensated for the coolness of my plate. I had the brisket hash, the sauce was perfect and just enough not to overwhelm the food. My wife had the Leeland Benedict which had amazing flavor, and in my personal opinion was better than my hash. We shared the French Toast which was really good. We also had the blood orange mimosas which were awesome. Overall we would definitely come back out here for the atmosphere, drinks, and food. Even with my semi cold plate you can tell when someone cares about what they cook.
We has the sweet potato hash and the honey crispy chicken. Best sweet potato hash I’ve had. The honey crispy chicken was more crust than chicken and the biscuit was dry so we asked for more syrup. The inside sitting was opening but the music was so loud we sat out side. It’s definitely a different type of restaurant than what we are use to. Grab a table with a number. Scan the number. Figure out what you want and go to the bar and order. Grab your water on the way out if you want some. Cash is not accepted. Our only suggestion would be to get the young man behind the counter more help. He was trying his best but couldn’t keep up between making our lattes and coffee. He was also taking people’s orders and dealing with a customers One brought a “service dog” into the restaurant that didn’t have a service vest on. The dog was sitting next to the man in the booth. That’s a red flag for me since I’m highly allergic to dogs, even hypo allergenic dogs. We didn’t get our coffees until 3/4 of the way through our meal. Other than that, yummy food. Friendly servers. We enjoyed the outdoor seating in August after storm blew threw. It kept the humidity at bay.
Amor was great she took over our our table after another server was a bit overwhelmed. She gave us great service and I will definitely come back to see her again. Shout out my girl amor!! She was GREATT
I found my new favorite spot for brunch. Leeland House is a cozy boutique bistro & bar nestled in Houston’s East Downtown. They offer all-day brunch, beautiful patio with creative cocktails, specialty mimosas, and a full espresso menu. They are open everyday for from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm except weekends they close at 3:30 pm. They have DJs playing 80's and 90's music which sets the good vibes! IG: love_to_exist
Overall good breakfast spot. I ordered the brisket hash skillet and a vanilla latte with oat milk. The skillet was delivered in less than five minutes and very tasty. The latte was delicious. Creamy and great foam! The only unusual thing is you order at the bar and give them your table number and then they deliver it to you. I didn’t see that sign inside so I waited 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to come to the table.
Love the location! I really loved the vibes, so much outdoor seating! 1. Pick a table, remember the table # 2. Order @ the bar (make sure you tell them your table #) 3. Enjoy! The food is SO flavorful! My blood orange mimosa was okay... I'd give it a 3/5 it didn't have much flavor, and I've had blood orange before! I wish I would've known that you can sub regular potato's for sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were crispy and yummy. I really enjoyed my meal, I'll probably be back this weekend! :)
I stopped by Leeland House on Thursday, and I have to say, the service was outstanding! My server, Aaliyah, was absolutely amazing! Super friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience so enjoyable. She had great menu recommendations (the shrimp and grits were incredible!) and made sure everything came out just right. The place already has a fun, chill vibe, but her energy and professionalism really made it even better. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while! I’ll be coming back for sure!
It was my first time visiting Leeland House, and it will not be my last. I immediately knew I was going to enjoy my service when I was welcomed and seated by Keith at the host stand. I had the brisket hash and French toast, both were very delicious and fresh. The staff was very friendly and kind, and they will be seeing me again very soon.
Food was amazing. Service was OK. Staff was nice and friendly but you have to go to bar to plsce order and pay first. In trying to do that i almost lost my table to another party. So trying to grab a table and go order food is a lil challenging if by yourself or just two of you. Otherwise loved sitting and eating on the porch area in front. Iced coffee was great and the food....chefs 💋. Don't miss the graffiti park 1/2 block over on Leeland. Great photo opp. I ❤️ Houston sign is a short drive away near the EaDo Promenade near the 8th Wonder Brewery.
I hadn’t been to Leeland in a while and I was so happy to come back and still get great service with Jorge. I’ve worked in the service industry for so long and he’s a top notch employee. Very attentive, sweet, and on point! Thank you Jorge for making my sibling brunch so great.
Second time here. Food and atmosphere are consistently great. A carafe of mimosa and Leeland Benedict is a great way to enjoy a weekend. Looking forward to returning and exploring the menu a little more.
Such a great find! I was at Emancipation Park for an event and needed a new spot to try breakfast. This palace popped up on my search and had great reviews. I loved the photos and the online menu was clear (I can't tell how irritating it is to view a company online and they either have no menu or an outdated one). Anyway, the place was nice and I wasn't aware it was two businesses in one. The outside canopy is very nice and spacious. I loved the music and the ambiance. It was very inviting. I got the sweet potato hash and the overnight oats which are now a favorite of mine. So delicious! My only gripe is with the parking. It's pretty limited which is not the fault of the business--it's downtown so.... 💁🏾♀️. Definitely check it out. You'll have a great time. We went on a Saturday morning around 8 and it was very light. By the time we finished eating, drinking and gossiping around 11, it was lit!
Sacha was great help, she made my first time here perfect. Because of her I will be back, the plate she had me try was great, cant wait to tell everyone I know, about this restaurant. Ask for SACHA next time you come out.
Great spot! Benedict was good, poached eggs were cooked properly and the bacon was the best I’ve had in recent memory. Zoe and Frankie were behind the bar and were super sweet and kept me entertained. Mimosas were well priced and awesome, with fresh juice and nice bubbles. Would definitely recommend.
amor was the best ever! It was my friends birthday brunch and she made the experience was 10/10!!! Definitely ask for her every single time you come here. Friendly, helpful, attentive all the above :)
I visited with my husband and a friend for brunch and had a great experience. We opted for indoor seating to escape the heat, but the outdoor area looked inviting for next time. The food was delicious, and my latte was exceptional. Although my husband had an issue with his food due to an allergy, the staff resolved it promptly and efficiently. The place does get quite busy during brunch and lunch, so arriving early is a good idea if you prefer indoor seating.
The visit to Leland house was awesome. The Long Island Ice tea was really good. I had the Jam Burger, my daughter had the Eggs Benedict and we shared the Bananas Foster pancakes. The food and drinks were excellent and Gage our waiter was very helpful and on top of things. All in all a really good experience!
I had an amazing experience at Leeland House! Our server and bartender, Zoe, was absolutely fantastic — super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. She gave great recommendations and kept everything flowing smoothly. I ordered the Breakfast Brisket Hash, and it did not disappoint — perfectly seasoned, hearty, and packed with flavor. Every bite had the perfect mix of brisket, potatoes, and eggs. Hands down one of the best brunch dishes I’ve had in Houston. Great service, great vibes, and even better food. Definitely coming back soon!
First time at Leeland House and I was very pleased with my experience. The menu is simple but packed with flavor. Indoor and outdoor seating with multiple bars to order your food and drinks from. Food came out quick and was delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, a great place to have food and drinks with family and friends.
The food was really good and our server amor was really sweet and attentive. I definitely recommend her if you ever come here. She gave us great service and she was really helpful when our initial server got sat with a large party. She was the best!
After researching dozens of places to explore a Saturday brunch, we decided to walk over 1 mi from our hotel to give this place a try. We are glad that we did. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which were amazing, and my spouse ordered the standard breakfast and a specialty, ice coffee. The walk was well worth it. We will definitely come back here should we find ourselves in Houston againThere are many dishes on the menu that we would like to try.
The original plan was to have brunch at Chapman & Kirby, but due to the weekend crowd, I decided to explore nearby options. That’s when I discovered Leeland House—and I’m so glad I did. Just a five-minute walk from CK, it turned out to be a hidden gem. The service was excellent, the DJ set a great vibe, and the food arrived in under 20 minutes. The shrimp and grits? Absolutely chef’s kiss.
It was 8 of us and everything we ordered was amazing. The food was fresh and tasted great. The drinks tasted great as well. Presentation was awesome. Service from all the staff was great and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have an awesome time. Kevin made us feel welcome. Dj’s knew how to mix some good vibes.
I think I’ve found a new (to me) brunch spot! This spot is a self serve concept as you seat and order your food/drinks yourself. Perfect spot for sitting out on the patio to eat as that’s basically all it is, an oversized patio. I was really impressed by how cheap the drinks were and my smoked brisket hash was 10/10. Now the wait for our food was about an hr, which they communicated upfront, but it was worth the wait in the end. I will say on a Sunday don’t get there after 12p as they get packed fast on a beautiful day! They also have a DJ on Sundays playing house R&B music for the vibes so come hungry, enjoy the drinks and the vibe!
I just had the best time at the bar with Zoe and Kelyn! They were so sweet while I sat at the bar and gave the best recommendations on what to eat and drink! The bartenders were amazing — friendly, fast, and made great drinks! They really made my morning fun and welcoming. You can tell they love what they do. Highly recommend stopping by for great service and even better vibes! 🍸
Came in for breakfast with my hubby after a recommendation, and it did not disappoint! It has one very small indoor space for seating with tables and counter seating and 2 outdoor spaces, one on the front porch and the other in the back courtyard. The service was great. They were warm, friendly, and welcoming. Our food was hot, fresh and delicious. We will make this our breakfast spot whenever we are on that side of town.
OMG YALL GOTTA TRY THE BRISKET BOWL I ALSO HAD A SIDE OF FRENCH TOAST, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Lexi was my server and recommended the best taste I’ve ever experienced with Breakfast/brunch. Also EVERY staff member I encounter was super friendly, very polite and went above and beyond to accommodate my friend and I needs. Please support this beautiful establishment.
My gym partner’s and I Saturday brunch spot. Love sitting outdoor on their patio. There’s a DJ always playing a good mix. The Chicken Biscuit, Avocado Toast and if you drink, the Espresso Martini is so good. But I pretty much order the same thing which is the Brisket or Sweet Potato Hash with the House Coffee. You have the option to order inside or at the window outside. There is usually a line but once your order is submitted your food comes out quickly.
Sasha and George were absolutely amazing. Sasha was our server and she was extremely helpful navigating the menu and showing recommendations. The vibe was so good and the coffee George made was delicious. Not only was the service amazing but the food was delicious. Sometimes aesthetic places are overhyped but I can say this one deserves the hype. 10/10 will be back again.
What can I say! I love it here! There is a real sense of community, and my friends and I always have a great time just sipping and yapping on the patio. Recently, I have been attending the Pilates classes and staying for matcha and brunch after, and it’s now my Sunday routine!
I liked the vibes of this place and how the hostess explained to us how the service worked —- which I think was very helpful. You essentially find your table, scan the QR code, find what you want on the menu and order. I found it simple and the service was awesome. Our food came out quickly and the mimosas were really good ! Not overly priced neither. I highly recommend !!
Had a great brunch with my family here. We had a bigger group so we called ahead of time and were able to get a bigger table set aside for us. Otherwise it’s sit yourself. We were a bit confused on the bar service style ordering as it’s not something you see often. Once you are ready to order you go up to the bar and order your food and drinks. You can keep your tab open which works if your ordering drinks. Water is included on every table. The food was awesome, along with the atmosphere, and service. The creme brûlée French toast was hands down my favorite and my entire family enjoyed the food. The food didn’t take too long around 15 minutes or so from ordering. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Gavelston.
I really enjoyed my brunch experience at Leeland House. I visited for the first time after Sunday service looking for a chill brunch vibe that didn’t have all the extra activity that comes with other Houston restaurants. The Honey Butter Chicken biscuit was AMAZING!! The chicken was nicely fried on a homemade biscuit. I appreciated the fact that I could add bacon and they had a good mixed berry jam to balance out the savory with sweet. Of course I did the mimosa carafe and the choice of fruit juices (Mango) instead of only plain OJ was a bonus. What I ended up appreciating the most was the service model. All orders - food and drinks, are placed and paid for at the bar upon ordering and you’re given a number to take to your table. There are multiple bartenders so you don’t have to worry about a long wait or having to go look for your server which was refreshing. Only reason I’m not giving it a 10 is because of the limited indoor seating and lack of free parking which is expected for this part of town. There are fans on the porch and in the patio area so it’s not unbearable during the meal. Overall 9/10!
We were there today for Sunday breakfast. My husband’s third day in a row and my first. It exceeded his description. I had eggs Benedict. Out of this world. Delicious ham on the Benedict and 2 slices of the most delicious bacon I’ve ever eaten. The signature coffee was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had in the US. Strong and flavourful. The indoor atmosphere is cozy . There is a very large outdoor area with big screens which will be perfect for sporting events like the World Cup. And the staff were so friendly. Our server (wish I had gotten his name) was incredible. Only wish they weren’t closed Monday and Tuesday so we could go back before leaving Houston. A reason to return…..
I visited Leland House in Houston today and had the pleasure of being served by Journey. She was amazing — incredibly patient, attentive, and genuinely sweet. Her warm personality and excellent service made the whole experience even better. Thank you, Journey, for making our visit so enjoyable! I’ll definitely be back. 👏✨
We've been meaning to stop by for awhile but are usually sweaty from our walks and didn't want to offend. My husband had the Benedict and confess with side salad and a sweet, peppery bacon. I had the brisket hash and it was lovely. The brisket is sourced from a bbq spot across the street, the potatoes were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Our Americanos were strong and delicious. We'll definitely be back to try other menu items.
Is it obvious that we like coming here? My boyfriend and I come here every few Sundays (free street parking) and here’s why: The food is great, the vibes are vibrant, and the price is good! I was held in a chokehold by the Leeland Benedict, but as of late have been stuck on the Brisket Hash bowl. The açaí bowl was pretty good, but not anything I plan to get again. I highly recommending getting lavender lemonade, it looks pretty and tastes delicious! I love the live dj that plays and the overall convivial space. It seems that Leeland has upped its service and is now having servers take orders, rather than customers coming up to severs to order which is nice. The only reservation I have is that Leeland has a bit of a consistency issue, as sometimes dishes will be served different (ex: we got truffle fries served plain which was great, then the next time the fries were served with aioli). Overall, love Leeland’s and highly recommending going!!
Wow! That was some breakfast……I may not eat again this year! It’s a small place in a rather rundown part of Eastern Downtown Houston that’s unfortunately surrounded by construction work at the moment. But it’s a diamond 💎. Go find it. Lovely friendly staff, and delicious food - I had the Açai Bowl - wholesome and delicious and French toast with a side of bacon - indulgent but delicious! Coffee and fresh orange juice. Not cheap - $38 but excellent. Go get fed!
I would rate this as 4 stars. Had the Leeland Benedict which was not bad but nothing very special. The French toast was disappointing as the toasts were super deep fried and were not finished by us. They got one of our orders wrong but corrected it promptly. The vibe is good and was crowded being a weekend.
The food is SO good. Wife had the Leeland Benedict and said it was VERY good, and I had the Brisket Hash which was good too. The outdoor patio is really nice too, but I’m glad I got a seat in the FRONT of the house. The back of the house has DJ BLARING music. I get the like vibe/party they’re going for, but I can’t imagine that’s enjoyable for folks. Brunch is for catching up with friends and conversation. Not a house party. Very odd choice to try and recreate a club scene. You seat yourself and have to order at the bar, so it’s sort of limited service in that way too. I had to wipe my own table. Noise and wiping my own table made me knock it down a star. Food is really good though.
Took a while to get service, they were short staffed, understandable. But, we finally got Jorge (the barista!) who jumped in to save the day. He was very personable, patient and on top of taking care of us. He made our day!
I visited this cute restaurant for brunch just this morning after a recommendation from a coworker. The decor is very modern with floral and industrial touches. We ordered the Brisket Skillet, Grilled Cesar, and the Eggs Benedict. All dishes were impeccably well-presented and delicious! The missing star is for customer service. The waitress was kind when present, but rarely was. We had to get up to find her when the time came to pay. We were one of three customers at the time. Still, an overall excellent experience with terrific food! Will be going back soon.
A good spot to have brunch. I will say it was a unique set up to get seated. You arrive and have to look for a table yourself, I can see this being challenging with a larger party. You have to place your order at the bar with the table number so that the staff knows where to take the food. I ordered the brisket hash and it was very tasty! I brisket was juicy and the flavor combinations worked well. We also ordered a honey chicken biscuit, that was even better the taste was so good. They do short you on the potatoes though the presentation could be better too. Other than that this spot is a fine place to have a brunch!
I have mixed feelings about all the recent changes here - I heard it changed ownership, maybe that’s the problem. It used to feel really free - you sat where you wanted, ordered when you wanted, they had a split line for food vs drink that made it all fast. Recently they slapped on a new coat of paint, added TVs and a big screen in the back, cut their menu items down, and added a host and very slow waitstaff (who get your order wrong even after asking you for it twice bc they didn’t write it down the first time), plus a mandatory gratuity (that as far as I can tell isn’t posted anywhere). I also don’t like handheld payment terminals that charge you before you can see it itemized. They charged me more than was on the menu, I was able to see from my emailed receipt. I’m glad the excellent food and drinks are the same quality, but the only change I found was positive was the ability to make a reservation. I’d trade that back for being able to pick my seat not under a speaker and in the shade. I may still come sometimes, just makes it less likely. Street parking used to be the only trade-off, you can’t keep adding trade-offs and stay popular.
The food is really good. So good that I went 2 times in a week and again the week after. Unfortunately, you must take the bacon however it comes out. They won't cook it any longer than the cook desires to serve them and that was different each time I'd gone. The last time I ended up having to switch my partner bacon strips because mine were a lot more fatty than I requested and liked. When I asked for it to be cooked a while longer they refused. The French toast was always right and I loved it the most. It's the entire reason I visited but the bacon is why I won't return. The Gouda grits are good, shrimp and grits are good, and brisket Hash is good as well. There's not much parking attached to the building but many free lots across the street in most directions.
I come here quite often and everything is usually great. Good food and a nice vibe. The service was a little off this past Sunday but Kyra ultimately picked up the slack and made sure we were taken care of! And I believe another lady that may have been a manager took care of our drinks!!
I recently visited Leeland House for brunch. I will start off by saying the food was soooo good! We both had the Honey Chicken Biscuit. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, but still juicy on the inside. The spiced maple syrup on the biscuit was sweet and sticky. The biscuits reminded me of something my grandma would make. The potatoes that came with it were crispy and the perfect texture. We also had the hangover mimosa. Let me just say we felt good after drinking it. The perfect buzz. The service was quick and efficient. You place your order at the bar and they bring the order out to your table. They had plenty of seating, but most of it was outside (just FYI). I prefer to sit inside, but nothing was available. The vibe there was cool and casual. The music playlist was nice. The noise level was fine. It was busy, but I could definitely hear my boyfriend talking. I would definitely recommend and I'll be back!
My family and I went to Leeland House on a Saturday for brunch to celebrate my sister in law's birthday. The atmosphere was ok for the most part. There was a DJ playing music outside, and the music was also blasting through the speakers inside. It was a bit difficult to have a conversation with the music being really loud. You sit yourself where space is available and have to go up to the counter to order and pay for your food beforehand. The only negative thing I have to say about this "self-serve" experience is that there is less interaction with servers unless they're bringing your food to the table. We sat at a dirty table due to it being very busy that day and waited about 15 minutes until someone came by and cleared out our table after a group of people left. After asking a server to wipe a seat that had food on it, she very nicely rolled her eyes while doing it. Anything you need, you have to go up to the counter to ask for. The restaurant seems very busy and probably short staffed. Other than that, our food was delicious. Maybe on the simpler, more affordable side for brunch, but satisfying, nonetheless. I got the brisket hash and highly recommend it if you visit Leeland House for brunch.
The seating guide: find your table, get table number, order from bar & provide table number and server will deliver. Ordered shrimp and grits. Not alot of seasoning on grits. Shrimp had good flavor. My friends burger w/ egg on top ands fries looked good. Lots of outdoor seating in front and back w/ view of surroundings. Nice spot for date or hangout with girl friends. Service was quick, we got our food in less than 15 minutes after ordering.
The environment was great being able to be outside and see big screens while eating. The food was just ok as some things were better than others. The coffee and lemon aid drinks were top notch so def would come back just for those.
This is a really relaxed spot with delicious food. However, I noticed that their online menu doesn’t match what’s available in the restaurant, which was a bit confusing when trying to place our order. I was looking forward to trying a few specific items but unfortunately, they weren't available. We did order the sweet potato hash and the fried French toast, both of which were outstanding and deserving of a 5/5 rating. As for customer service, there’s definitely room for improvement. The staff member who took our order seemed a bit dismissive and communication could have been clearer, though he wasn’t unkind. One thing to keep in mind is that they do not accept cash. Overall, a great place thats mostly quiet. It would be a cool space to work from as well.
Went for Sunday Brunch. The property is huge with plenty of seating. They had a DJ, and two large screens in the back to watch games. Food came out fast. The only issue was I asked for truffle oil to be added to my breakfast potatoes and they didn’t add it. Otherwise, à great experience!
LEELAND HOUSE HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN HOUSTONFIED! Meaning, they are treating this place like a club/lounge now. No more ordering at the bar. They have servers now. The service was trash. The server did not listen to our needs and our food allergies. My food was cold when it came out. I asked them to reheat it and they did, the same dish which is unsanitary for a restaurant to put a dish that had already been eaten from in the microwave. The mimosa is no longer $6, I think it may be $10. No more $18 carafe, they are $28! It does not have the same vibe as before. I really hate this because this was a Houston staple and one of my favorite places for brunch. But because of all the changes, horrible service and smaller food portions, I probably will not be back as often.
Food is good overall, but after an hour wait to get it… it came out cold. All tickets include 18% gratuity and then they ask you for an additional tip. Which I don’t mind paying, as I appreciate service workers, but the concept of being charged a gratuity without my knowledge feels like shady business and left a weird feeling. Just be aware and be ready for a long wait to get your food.
Not sure if I just came on an off day but first there was no one at the host stand so I walked in to the bar area where there was 5 or 6 employees all standing around chatting, ignoring me, got their attention and asked if it’s seat yourself or if there’s a host to seat and was told I could sit anywhere. After that the server took a really long time to come over to us which is fine, but then from there it kinda just got worse. We ordered drinks and food at the same time because he had taken so long we had figured it all out by then. Our food came and our drinks didn’t come until well after our plates were bussed from our food being done. All the while every time the door opens I can see employees just chatting at the bar. Not sure if they were actually busy enough for it to take that long but if so keep an eye on perception and optics. If you have a table waiting 20+ mins for a drink, doesn’t look good to have anyone standing around chatting. I rarely write reviews but this particular experience was so disappointing. And when we went to pay gratuity was automatically included. Not sure if the poor service was because they don’t have to stress about getting tipped, if they were truly that busy (there was only one table on the front patio with us), or if it was personal.
My cousin and I visited this spot after hearing about their "elevated breakfast," but while the food looked good, the overall experience didn't quite live up to that label. When we arrived, the hostess let us know it was open seating--so we grabbed a spot on their spacious patio, which was lovely. There's also a small indoor area if you prefer to dine inside. However, the setup was more casual than expected: after claiming a table, you place your order at the bar, and the food is brought out to you. That's totally fine for a relaxed café, but it didn't match the "elevated" experience we had in mind. That said, the bartender was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We ordered the Sweet Potato Hash, Leeland Benedict, a Honey Lavender Latte, and a 'Stachio Matcha Latte. My cousin enjoyed her latte and Benedict--especially the bacon it came with. My dish, on the other hand, fell a bit short. The avocado mash didn't taste fresh or homemade, and I would've much preferred fresh sliced avocado. The sweet potatoes were inconsistent--some were delicious, others undercooked. The lavender latte was very light and didn't leave much of an impression. Also worth noting: parking is street-only, so it's a good idea to arrive early to give yourself time to find a spot. Overall, it's a cute place with friendly service and a relaxed vibe, but the food and setup felt more casual than elevated. Nice if you're already in the area, but not a must-visit.
Food was actually really good but it felt like the restaurant had never served food before. First our dishes were first sent to the wrong table, then when they came much later mine was incorrect. They forgot the coffee order after being reminded a few times, then when we just asked to cancel it (because it was so late) they finally brought it when we were getting ready to ask for the check, and not in a to go cup. Some people got food which while others took a long time to show up. Lastly tip was automatically included for everyone which rubbed me the wrong way.
automatic 20% gratuity 😳 over $40 for 2 small breakfast plates and one coffee 👎🏼 slow sad service 😑 i wouldn’t go back or recommend this place to anyone. i met my sister there, she was already drinking a coffee when i sat down. took over 10 min for anyone to come by. the biscuit and gravy is one split biscuit and a weak sausage gravy. the eggs somehow had snotty whites and half hard yolks. my sisters 2 egg 2 bacon unseasoned breakfast potatoes and toast looked decent at best. they never checked on us after dropping the food. 20% for that
This restaurant has really gone down hill. It used to my favorite brunch spot. We went on Sunday at 2 and they were out of biscuits and burgers and said they stopped serving coffee at 2pm. The eggs Benedict was bland. The menu is already pretty limited so it was tough having so many things out of stock.
Waitstaff was completely checked out. We kept having to beg for silverware, not everyone at the table got water, they only offered water in toddler cups, they hardly checked on us, got the orders wrong. They don’t accommodate vegans very well. The non-vegans at the table mostly didn’t enjoy their food either. Maybe we came on an off day, but this experience was not it.
This place does not have waiters. You literally have to go stand in line to order drinks and food. There is no one there to seat you either. You literally just wander around until a table is open. It took an hour and a half to get our food and the drinks were mediocre. Not to mention they ran out of champagne for mimosas at 1pm on a Sunday. I’d probably never come back.
We arrived around 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday and were seated immediately, which was great. Unfortunately, the service declined from there. After placing our order, we waited about 45 minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, we realized there were no utensils on the table and were only given one set with our plates. The food runner eventually brought two additional sets, placed loosely on a napkin rather than rolled like the first one, but after such a long wait, that was the least of our concerns. Our server checked on us only once while we were eating and was nowhere to be found afterward. The food itself was actually good. I ordered the sweet potato hash and added brisket, which I liked. My sister ordered the avocado toast, which came with only one slice of bread. For $14, that portion felt disappointing. Either the price needs to come down or the portion needs to increase to justify the cost. We finished eating quickly because we were starving after the long wait. Then we waited an additional 15–20 min just to catch our server passing by so we could ask for the check. To make matters worse, an automatic 18% gratuity was added, with an option to tip even more. This was frustrating given that the service did not come close to warranting that level of gratuity. Gratuity should reflect the quality of service, and being forced to pay nearly $11 for inattentive service felt unreasonable. We ended up spending about an hour and a half here, most of it simply waiting. Despite enjoying the food, I won’t be returning. There’s no shortage of brunch spots in Houston that offer both good food and attentive service for the same price point.
Nice atmosphere, but that’s the only thing worth mentioning. Food is mediocre and nowhere near worth the outrageous prices. Being forced to dine beside sweaty Runners is unacceptable, and the added forced gratuity on top of poor service is insulting. Plenty of places nearby offer better food, better service, and far more value. This place runs on hype, not quality.
Something told me to run the other way, but we were so hungry we decided to stay. The restaurant looked as if it needed to close to clean up the place. Almost like there was a group of 100 and they left a big mess. The food was mediocre at best, the pancakes were extremely dry, the potatoes were burnt and everything was bland. The service was nonexistent until it was time to pay and suprise, suprise, we were told there's an auto 18% gratuity added to each check.
Parking was ok on the street. -The atmosphere was clean and cozy. -Signature coffee came out lukewarm. -Acai bowl was basic but tasted good. -Peach tea didnt come with peaches in it. -Shocked how cold food was when it came out so fast. - hot chicken biscuit came out cool.. breading was soggy tasted like chicken was slathered with chicken bouillon the scrambled eggs were cool and dry. potatoes were not crispy and cool. -The jam burger was good but dry. fries were cool not really seasoned either.. daughter liked her fairy matcha drink. ×××Bill is paid when food is ordered and 18% gratuity is automatically added onto the bill××× Overall let down! -Trying to give my daughter who goes to UH a good meal and fell very short of expectations after reading reviews and posted pictures.
Do not let the good reviews fool you. Would not be surprised if the owner is putting good reviews themselves. TRUST THE BAD REVIEWS Servers looked overwhelmed and overworked. Food is horrid. Came cold and soggy. They say the orange juice is freshly squeezed but it’s simply orange brand orange juice you can get at Kroger. Save your money and go elsewhere.
The food and drinks are great but they recently implemented a shady gratuity charge which was not brought to our attention even after we tipped on top of that. The service was subpar and they had the audacity to add gratuity secretly. I think the majority of the 5 star reviews on here are fake because it seems too coincidental that they would receive 12 five star reviews in 3 hours.
Food LOOKS good BUT, it’s very BAD, coffee with lots and lots of sugar and bad taste, pistachio matcha was the worst thing I EVER drank, poached eggs were raw, not runny,RAW, uncomfortable amounts of bad quality mayo, bad taste, French toast was cold and hard to chew, bad taste, brisket hash wasn’t brisket, more like low quality shredded beef, bad taste, not even seasoned, service? They don’t care , they put your plate at table and RUN, probably they know it’s bad 🤣
So disappointed with this place. We arrived, got seated outside, and it was a beautiful day. But everything went downhill from there. We waited about 10 minutes and still hadn’t seen our waiter. The host noticed we were just sitting there with no service, got frustrated with the waiter, so the host brought the waters . Then we waited another 10 minutes before anyone came back to take our order. The host had to go inside to drag our waiter out to take out order. A young lady eventually brought out our food, and I asked her for a knife to cut my chicken. She said she’d be right back but never returned. Our waiter also never checked on us, not even once. I finally got tired of waiting and went inside to get my own knife. Inside, there are 7–10 employees just hanging out, laughing, standing around. No sign of the girl who brought our food and no sign of our waiter. We finished eating, still no waiter in sight, so I had to go inside just to pay. Someone at the bar told me our waiter would come to our table. So we waited… and waited… and he finally showed up. Then he tells me an automatic 18% tip was added. In my head I’m thinking, for what? All he did was take our order. He never checked on us, never brought our food, never brought anything we asked for. Then he had the nerve to ask for an additional tip and on top of that, he asked me to give him 5 stars to help him win a prize. He even spent five minutes telling me his life story and trying to be friendly after giving us terrible service. Absolutely not. It’s a shame, because the food was delicious. But the service was so awful that I won’t be coming back.
Food and staff are solid. Tried to call in an order over the phone for pickup and was told I had to come in. Alright, I go in and was charge me a 27% gratuity on my meal that the bartender didn’t know how to remove. That’s absolutely insane. I’m getting over being sick so I didn’t really want to go in and now I was charged $18 on $65 dollar order. Cmon yall. Make this right because that’s insane.
Came here around 9:45am for breakfast with my daughter since we live nearby and the Google reviews looked decent. The place was nearly empty — us plus maybe two tables inside and two on the patio — yet there were 7–8 staff members on the floor. Unfortunately, most of them were just standing around chatting. No sense of urgency, no proactive service, and nothing that felt welcoming. Food-wise, it was underwhelming. The eggs benedict was honestly not good — especially the salad on the side. The dressing was so minimal it felt like eating plain greens. My daughter ordered the blueberry pancake, which was also pretty average at best. The most uncomfortable part was the checkout. The server informed me they automatically add an 18% service charge. I asked if that was meant for large groups, since this was just a casual breakfast for two and not fine dining. The server said he could remove it, then turned to ask the manager — who was standing right next to us. When the manager asked why it should be removed, the attitude and facial expression were honestly off-putting. In the end, the service charge was removed, but I still voluntarily tipped 12%. That said, the whole interaction left a bad taste and felt like a management issue, not a staff one. Two people for breakfast came close to $50, which would be fine if the food, service, or atmosphere justified it — but it didn’t. The music was also extremely loud, making the experience uncomfortable, especially with a child. Disappointing overall. Won’t be coming back.
Came to Leeland House expecting a decent breakfast and it was a complete letdown. They ran out of biscuits AND burgers, which is honestly embarrassing for a place serving brunch. My scrambled eggs were cold, like they’d been sitting out for who knows how long. To make it worse, they serve water with no ice—small detail, but it says a lot about the lack of care. Overall, unorganized, disappointing, and not worth the time or money. Plenty of better spots in Houston. Never coming back.
This place used to be great for weekend brunch, but the quality and service have really suffered. I visited recently, and it was the first time I’ve had a server (I used to just go to the back bar to order drinks and food). One waiter was handling the entire porch seating area, so rounds were super slow. They include an 18% gratuity, so what you get is what you get—they’re already getting paid. My waiter took 10 minutes just to bring the itemized receipt. Had the most awful bloody Mary here it use to be delicious.
Came here a couple years ago and loved it. Today was a terrible experience. They were out of most things. Ordered mimosas and after waiting for an hour, they finally told us they were out of Champaign. Good took more than an hour to come out. Servers were rude and unfriendly. Awful.
Unfortunately, this place is not what it used to be. We waited about 10 minutes just to be seated, which wasn’t a huge issue at first. However, once we were seated, no one greeted us or brought water for over another 10 minutes. We eventually had to walk up to the bar ourselves just to ask for a waiter and water. Once we finally ordered, the food did come out fairly quickly, which was the only positive part of the experience. That said, I clearly told the waitress that I have an egg allergy, and my sandwich still came out with a piece of egg in it, which is unacceptable. When the food arrived, we weren’t given any utensils. After waiting more than 5 minutes, I got up to ask for them. I then waited another 5 minutes and was handed only a fork with no napkin, not wrapped, just placed in my hand. We had to ask yet again for a full utensil set. Between the lack of basic service, poor attention to an allergy, and having to repeatedly ask for things that should be standard, the experience was extremely disappointing. This place has gone downhill, and what should have been a simple brunch turned into a frustrating ordeal. Absolutely horrible compared to how it used to be. To add there were flies swarming constantly.
Not a good experience. We had reservations but still ended up waiting 35 minutes for a table. Turns out, people were walking in from the street and seating themselves at empty/available tables they found and bypassing the host booth! Whats the point of checking in? The service was extremely slow. We waited 45 min for juice and coffee. Over an hour for food. Parts of our order were wrong and sent back and replacements were sent in 30-45 min. Just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to complaints about this place. I would not recommend or return. Save your money for another location that cares about customer service. It’s a loss since the food was actually tasty but the service and environment ruined the dining experience.
I'm writing this review as I sit waiting for my food and even just my DRINK. We came at 1:30, was told there was a 35 minute wait and we would be notified via text when it was ready. 45 minutes go by, no text. So, we had to basically remind them we were waiting. Finally we get seated, another 15-20 minutes and we have to flag down someone to take our order. As we place the order, the waiter proceeds to tell us "we out of this, we out of that" great lol. Yall don't even have anything. Then even the waiter mentions how management has been horrible, so there's your proof. We have been sitting here for another 20-30 minutes, haven't even got our DRINKS STILL! I've had enough time to write this review lol! Just sitting here. MIND YOU, it's NOT BUSY! At this point it's 3pm. The ONLY thing I can brag on is the DJ. She was decent. This is my first and LAST time coming here. Yall suck
Absolute worst. Nancy was horrible and don’t even get me started on the bartender (short guy with the white cap). Our only saving grace was Geneva, the other bartender; she was getting those coffee drinks out quickly and hustling; she was doing circles around the other guy. So my boyfriend and I arrived before the rest of our party (we were a party of 4), we went ahead and got seated. Nancy greeted us promptly with water, and aware of our party size. We ordered our drinks; my boyfriend went to their sister restaurant Around the Corner and waited 10 mins to get service at the bar. I’m sitting at the table waiting on my mimosa and it seemed Nancy was unaware I haven’t received my mimosa so I had to remind her. The bartender hadn’t clearly been back there cause my ticket was still sitting on the printer. He proceeds to make my drink and sets it on the pickup counter. Like sir, you’re not doing anything and I’m sitting right there, you could have brought it to me immediately. Instead, he comes over to me and asks if I’ve ordered and I told him about my mimosa only then to proceed to give me my mimosa himself. My boyfriend comes back with his beer finally, and at this point we’re both already over it and the rest of our party didn’t even arrive yet. In that time Nancy asked us twice if we were ready to order, like girl the rest of our party hasn’t even arrived. Once our party arrived everything else continued to go downhill: service for cocktails was taking forever, food took a minute. Be aware that there is an 18% automatic gratuity on all checks, and it clearly reflects in the service we were given; we never saw Nancy present at our table. I understand times are tough and you’re trying to boost employee morale by guaranteeing your staff their money but then the servers have that “idgaf” attitude because they’re getting their money either way. She did not deserve the $30 automatic tip from us. I’m spending my hard earned money, the least you can do is provide attentive service. We were hesitant about ordering more drinks because service took so long. I was absolutely floored when they brought my boyfriend’s Dewar’s in a shot glass. Idc that he asked for a shot, any good bartender knows scotch never goes in a shot glass like he’s taking shots of tequila (I used to be a bartender so I know); if this were a fine dining restaurant and someone served me scotch in a shot glass I would have flipped the table. We managed to get Geneva’s attention and she had it fixed for us (once again waited FOREVER). Nancy seemed clueless throughout the whole experience. She didn’t even split our bill correctly; another person had to Zelle us some money cause Nancy had put his mimosa on ours even though the other person in our party told her how to split it smh. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Needless to say we will not be returning and will not recommend this place. Get it together and retrain your staff.
