I highly recommend this place and their food very delicious, I had to tried their birria de Borrego, Mr. Javier was very helpful nice and attentive with all his customers, waiters and waitress are very nice too, it's really worth the waiting they have live music 🎶 is a busy place so you know. We really enjoy our this here

Stopped by to see about their barbacoa de borrego. Must say I was impressed. Got the 3 taco special of the day. And they were delicious, definitely recommend this place of you like lamb barbacoa. Waitress was busy, but still kept checking in to see if I needed anything. They also make their own chips, and the salsa sure had a good kick to it too.

The Best of the Best in Houston, the barbacoa taste is just amazing, you have to try it. The wait to be served is worth it. My advise is that the music is too loud.

Came here after reading about it in Texas Monthly and it did not disappoint!!! Incredible incredible lamb barbacoa machete and tacos!! The corn tortillas were so tender and had a great corn flavor too. We don’t speak very much Spanish and everyone was very helpful, service was better than we get at $$$$ restaurants. I saw a comment talking about things being gamey but I would say they just taste like really delicious and slow roasted lamb. Can’t rate this place high enough!!

Food was really tasty!! Flavors as advertised ! Family atmosphere and DJ was playing Sunday after 4pm Consomé was great and dinner portion is enough to feed 2 The only downside is that you have to wait to be seated and then wait again to be served , unless you order barbacoa de borrego, which has no waiting time

Small in size but Huge in taste! 💯% recommend the consomé and barbacoa de borrego(lamb). Service was excellent your greeted with a smile and served promptly. Everything about the food was on point from the tasty and non greasy bárbacoa to the tasty perfect consomé. The toppings and salsas were fresh and perfect. Will return soon!

I must admit the place was unimpressive after viewing the videos on Instagram. On the video you see were the barbacoa is supposedly cooked. You also see what would appear to be the garden we're you would be sitting and eating freshly taken barbacoa from the hole pit. Unfortunately, when you arrive to tres chiles it is a restaurant in a run down strip mall. As you walk in, there are heads of hunted deer and old tables. Positive, the high energy and attentiveness of the wait staff. And then the barbacoa. I thought it was good, well prepared. But not one of the best I had. It is still great to have lamb barbacoa in Houston. I think the disappointment of not seeing the pits or what would appear to be the restaurant as in their Instagram had something to do with not enjoying the meal as much.

Food was good but the experience could have been better. I'm not sure but I believe it is a family owned and run business and not all show the owners passion. When you work at your family's business your an employee please be on your toes and help the customer with great service so your business grows. A bit more hustle please..other than that very good

We came and tried the barbacoa and the pastor. The agua frescas were really good. The pastor was delicious. It had a good taste and was very moist. The barbacoa was horrible. It had no taste. Someone else said it tastes like bland boiled meat and it's true. I can't believe this place has so many good reviews for their barbacoa. We had to add a lot of salt and salsa to eat it and they only give 3 tortillas.

Got there prior to the 12pm rush and there was a line. Unfortunately they don't cook the Barbacoa on premises which i really wanted to see. Second my waitress would just disappear , not to attend other tables or man the door ... just disappear , I ended up calling others to help me get more water another drink and limes The salsa on the table just didn't have any flavor , unless just plain heat was the intent. The blue tortilla quesadia was again..bland , my gordita masa was well over cooked but the stuffing was really good All in all I'm not sure about the wait to me it fell flat 😑

EAT SLEEP TRAVEL

First time try out, always down to try a hole in the wall. Never know if they will be gems or come up short. In this case, it's an ok place. However, flavors were lacking. Great for a budget stop, big serve plating, but don't expect it to blow you away or be your next favorite stop. We tried the Gordita's, which in our case was over cooked. The outside was more of a hard chip. Thoroughly enjoyed the quesadilla Birria tacos w the roux. While I'm sure someone will enjoy the salsa's. Only one tasted worth while. Couldn't pass up the chance, with the name Tres Chiles, you have to try it all. Hope it helps. Until next time.

We went on a cold (46 degree) day. To my surprise, it was cold inside the restaurant. It's like they don't believe in heaters. All the food was slightly warm (except for the parillada). The parillada was missing guacamole, salad, and limes. We also ordered the borrego meat. My taste buds did not like. It tasted very wild without any flavor. The best thing was their cafe de olla. Even though the coffee was luke warm.....it was good. Not worth the price, drive, or effort.

After seeing the Instagram post, I came to check this place out, but the machete tasted like nothing! The menudo didn't have any menudo and the beef broth didn't have any vegetables. I didn't like this place!
