The Bunker Hill Treebeards has awesome service, in addition to absolutely wonderful food!!! The Vegan Red Beans and Rice are the best we’ve ever had world-wide!!! (TJ’s Gingerbread House in Oakland (now closed) was the 2nd best, and these 2 restaurants (Treebeards & TJ’s) were very far ahead of any and all competition! We prefer ordering from the Bunker Hill location because they have the best customer service, and their managers are VERY helpful, polite, professional, and customer service oriented. Luis, Gabby and a third manager (I apologize - I forget her name) are very helpful when placing custom orders. In fact, when placing catering orders for a holiday or large dinner party, I order directly from the Bunker Hill location instead of through Treebeards catering contact or the Cloister location, because the customer service from the Bunker Hill location is top notch!!! We live in League City, and the closest Treebeards locations are downtown in Houston. But, because the managers and customer service at the Bunker Hill location are so far superior to our experiences with the catering manager in Houston and one of the downtown locations. When the Bunker Hill location accidentally omits something from a large order, or provides the wrong dish, the managers at Bunker Hill fix the problem right away and very professionally. That is not the experience we’ve had with the catering manager in Houston or the downtown location. Also, because we live so far away from the Bunker Hill location, we use the “Uber” “Store Pickup” service. With that, we place our order online or by calling a Bunker Hill manager, we pre-pay, and then we place a “Store Pickup” order from Uber. Less than an hour later, we have the best Vegan Red Beans & Rice in the world and other delicious food from Treebeards!!! And the fact that we place these orders and incur the expense of having Uber deliver them demonstrates just how great Treebeards’ food is! This is the only restaurant where we use Uber to receive orders. In addition to the awesome Vegan Red Beans & Rice, the salads are also consistently fresh and delicious!!! Fruit salad, garden salad, spinach salad, and other specialty salads — they are all fantastic!!! Regarding their desserts, the Cho plate frosting is incredible! The best! You can get that with their yellow cake or chocolate cake. They also sell pints of their frosting so you can use it on items you bake! I also recommend you buy a bottle of their hot sauce. I don’t know what is different about it, but something is different than the top brands sold in the grocery stores and it (Treebeards’ hot sauce) is much better than those others! If you haven’t already, you should treat yourself with a trip to the Bunker Hill location! You’ll find their food consistently delicious and their service impeccable!

I hadn’t been to Treebeards in more than 40 years when I worked in downtown Houston. I’ve been craving the jambalaya and happened to be in the Bunker Hill area, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. The food is just as good as I remembered. Thanks for stepping up and keeping in fresh and tasty!😋😋😋💯

Treebeards was excellent. I had never even heard of the place before but my wife insisted that we go as she used to love the food at the downtown location. Gave it a go and let me just say, I won't be tiring my arm out making a roux for my chicken and sausage gumbo again when I can go and order a plate there. I tried her red beans and rice as well and it was amazing. There sauces were great and we got the fried deviled eggs and man how I wish I could have eaten more. On top of that, the service was good. Friendly staff and even when the waiter accidentally took our table number a bit early, he remembered that and brought our food out and apologized. I also tried their double IPA while I was there and I have a new favorite. All in all, it was a great experience and since it was right after we watched Deadpool and Wolverince... it really made the day a great one. 10/10 will eat there again.

I used to frequent this restaurant often when I worked downtown. The menu has expanded since then. I recently found out about the Bunker Hill location. I wanted to try the food to see if it tasted the same as I remembered. The Shrimp etouffee’ and Italian Crème cake were just as I remembered. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The prices are very reasonable.

Fun little bar for Happy Hour. Nice appetizers and good drinks for a reasonable price. Friendly staff provded great service. Kind of hidden on the back side of a building off I-10, but glad we tried it out.

It was decent food, needed more seasoning ( flavor overall). This was a completely different setup for me, you walk in and order your food at the counter and then pick a table to sit out and it's brought out to you. Nice atmosphere, it was interesting to see watermelon has a side.

I've been hearing a lot about this place from friends and colleagues, so I decided to give it a try. The staff was friendly and professional. That seems to be a staple of Houston restaurants in my experience. The decor and seating is an open concept with reservation options. The food is lightly to non-seasoned. You will need the salt, pepper and hot sauce to make it taste decent. Now, the dessert? Somebody stole my grandmother's cake recipe and made the cake because it was top notch! If you're looking for great tasting regular food, this might not be the place for you. If you're looking for a great piece of cake, definitely stop in!

Decent patio. Food was just ok for me . Bread was super plain. Gumbo wasn’t spectacular . Biscuits were a bit hard and not super soft . Nice patio

This is not a full restaurant experience when you sit and have someone take your order. Instead, you order your food, pay, and then you wait at your table. I notice a lot of restaurants are doing this now. Too many dine and dash, perhaps? The wait staff does come around every so often to see if you need anything. The food tasted good, I had the fried fish with etoufe. The cornbread was dry but tasted okay. The black-eyed peas were tasty. The gumbo was good as well. I'll have to try their other locations.

So we ordered our food at a counter and they ask for a tip right away before any service or food has been rendered. I had the seafood gumbo and my wife had the shrimp and grits. The seafood was not the best quality. Portions were small and none of the food was spicy. I had to add salt and pepper and hot sauce to everything. I never received the biscuits we ordered. I had to go back up to the counter for a refund because you don't get a proper waiter here despite paying a gratuity up front. Prices were high, we paid $64 for lunch for two people. I would not return to this place. Sorry
