The food here is so amazing one of the best restaurants in HOUSTON. One of the best’s plate to eat here is any parrillada , the shrimp is good and steak and chicken 👌🤩, also the music they play is the best. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone try it for yourself you will love it. 😝

The best and delicious seafood (fried/grilled) place on the Northwest side! They also have Tex Mex Fajitas & Kid's menu. They serve small warm bolillos too as a starter!! Tip for the ladies: bring a light jacket, felt cold inside the times we've been. But they also have outdoor seating

If you're looking for delicious fried fish, then this seafood restaurant is a must-visit! Despite its size and popularity, we didn't have to wait to be seated, and both the indoor and outdoor areas didn't feel crowded. We loved the complimentary spicy pickled carrots, onions, and jalapeños with fresh baked hot rolls. Our server was super friendly, and our 2 mojarras fritas were huge and well-cooked, served with salad, avocado and either rice or French fries. Highly recommend!

Looking for a great place for Latino seafood this is the place. It is set to have a casual atmosphere so not exactly a place for a romantic night out. A good range of options from lobster, fish, clams, shrimp. My dish was a stir fry with 2 pieces of fish. Really amazing, the fish was cooked perfectly with a hint of lemon, the rice beans and veggies were also seasoned very well. I especially liked how they made their horchata here that was soo good. We ordered a cazuelita, a molcajete, a parrillada, special rice and mangonadas, we didn’t even have enough room in our table for all the plates that came with each dish. Service was fast and food was sizzling hot. Place gets really busy and there’s usually a wait time during peak hours, but really worth the wait. If you’re looking for a cheap menu, go to Mambo’s instead. Food is a bit on the higher price range, but you get your money’s worth, best quality seafood by far. This place has a good atmosphere, fun and friendly, with live music and a bit on the louder side so don’t expect it to be as quiet as a church. Really recommend this place.

Fantastic seafood with a Mexican twist. Everything was fresh and delicious, from the chips and salsa to the raw oysters. They have a huge bar, good music, and a dive feel. Will definitely go back the next time I’m in the Houston area.

My family & I have been going here for some time now & we can say it’s one of our favorite seafood places. My parents love getting their Mojarra Frita & I just tried their Botana Camarones & they were amazing! Their place has live music & quick & friendly service. Definitely recommend. ◡̈

I enjoy coming to happy hour at this place. The food is good, but the drinks is what I go for ! The house margaritas are so good but strong ! They have karaoke nights, mariachi on other nights. Definitely recommend for a happy hour and just for a good time with friends and family.

Very nice place for family or date night. The food is good. There are many options. I heard that the octopus is tender and delicious. I had the jalapeño stuffed shrimp and I liked them. I also tasted the oysters and they were flavorful. The mariachi band was a nice touch. They traveled around the restaurant serenading different tables. The place is big with lots of tvs showing sports, news, and other shows. Pricing is decent. There was a photographer there offering printer photos of you and your guests for a fee.

Excellent atmosphere, live mariachi, and good food. We visited them last weekend for a family dinner; try the paella with a good, tasty, fresh octopus. The rice wasn't paella rice; it is more like seafood rice than paella; anyways, it was super tasty. It was crowded, but the service was just on time, good for the family.

This is a very popular locale. Always packed and full of life but it’s because of the food that doesn’t disappoint. Love their seafood soups which come loaded with all kinds of goodies including scallops. Good size portions. Today I ended up driving 17 miles from the Heights just to have one of their lunch specials. Sit at their massive bar and have a hell of a time just watching everyone here enjoying to their stomachs content. It’s great food.

Experience was amazing, first time at the restaurant and I was going for my father’s birthday party. Party of 20 and they handled things as efficiently as they could despite the last minute guests. I ordered the octopus and price was pretty cool, $30 for my food including my sweet tea, rice, beans, guacamole, and whatever else I don’t remember I really only ate the octopus. It was clocked and seasoned to perfection.

This is my favorite restaurant of the area. The food is amazing and the drinks are very good! Margarita is great, but their sangria pitch is even better. I loved the paella too! Whatever you get, you will leave happy! Also I love the music on fridays

The food is so good, this is quickly becoming one of my very favorite places to eat. I feel like the prices are good, especially with the portions and everything I've ordered has been delicious. My only comment is that it gets loud really quickly and can get very noisy. Worth it in my opinion!

Great place to eat some spicy Mexican seafood. My group was seated quickly and our server was quick to take out drink orders. The menu is large. They mostly offer various seafood dishes, but there's a burger option and a couple more options that are not seafood. The lunch portion of the salmon fajitas was enough for two people. The tortillas appear to be made fresh in house. I would definitely go back.

This place is a ton of fun! The food is tasty, the drinks are refreshing (I'm looking at you, oyster shoot) and the atmosphere is festive. It's a great spot for small and large parties.

I previously visited this restaurant about 6 years ago and forgot about it until I was craving shrimp cocktail. Stopped by on a Saturday evening and the parking lot was packed! We did eventually find parking and headed towards the entrance. There were so many people so that's always a good sign, fruitful business. There's an outside patio area which was packed. When we spoke to the hostess there was a wait for a party of two, but the bar area had no wait. We found two empty seats and were immediately greeted with a smile. Music is playing at the perfect level and we noticed a live band setting up. When we sat at the bar, we were given warm bread with butter and spicy pickled carrots. We ordered cóctel de camarón and another dish which I don't recall the name of, but almost sure it was salmon. We ordered a round of drinks as well. I'm not much of a drinker, but the watermelon margarita was good. The shrimp cocktail was delicious!!!! Fresh shrimp and the sauce was good. Our salmon dish was full of flavor. The sauce on the salmon is good, but can become overwhelming. Everything was excellent, from the service to the food and drinks. My husband and I now make it every other Saturday to sit at the bar and enjoy a round of drinks and their shrimp cocktail.

Overall the place is great. I have a bar that you can sit at to watch MMA fights that you're unable to see on your own television they also have live bands there sometimes. The food was great no real complaints they give you enough to where you can not finish your meal we will be back we just went there because we needed to try something different

You have to visit this place! There was no wait time. They have plenty of seating here!! They had live music going and my 15 month old thoroughly enjoyed it. She LOVED the food! She ate half an adult portion of fish and some fried rice. I had no idea she had all that room in her stomach, but she really enjoyed the food! The staff were super kind and patient with us especially since it was our first time visiting and there’s just SO MANY OPTIONS on the menu (that’s a great thing!). I want to go back again. Definitely worth your time! Go here, you won’t be disappointed.

Love the food and drinks options. You will definitely not walk away disappointed. It is big place so it gets really busy. It is always loud and often with loud live music. Just be ready. My clothes always end up smelling very strongly. I wish that the kitchen had better exhausts and the smell didn’t carry into the dining area as much. But the food and drink selection is definitely worth it.

I decided to book our company Christmas party here and they did not disappoint. They impressed me with the decoration but most importantly the great service. They made us feel so special from beginning to end. Nancy (manager) was super helpful and accommodating. We will definitely consider them for next year. If you are looking for a place for a private party or event, this is the place.

I had not been here since shortly after they opened many years ago, but my wife and I decided to drive over and give it a try tonight. I had the seafood soup and she had the bassa with seafood topping, with tres leches for dessert. It was all fantastic. This place continues to be a unique restaurant serving seafood with a Hispanic flair. We will be back.

The host at the front was not the friendliest, should have someone at the front who is happy to see guest instead of annoyed they would like to sit outside. Me and my husband ended up sitting inside as she didn’t want to clean the one open smaller table and would not let us sit at the bigger tables. The food was amazing. I had the steak and loaded crab shrimp and my husband ordered the fried fish plate. We loved their fried rice that came with our plates. We also had micheladas and those were very tasty with a chamoy and Tajin rim. Our server was amazing and very friendly and checked on us often.

Edit 6/18/23 - The music is WAY TOO LOUD. I can't even hear the people sitting next to me. I had to scream my order to the waitress and point to the item on the menu. If you plan on having a conversation with your meal eat somewhere else. -1 1st visit - WOW! My everything was AMAZING! 🤩 Started with the mixed empanadas. Piping hot, cheesy and big chunks of crab and shrimp. Even the sauces were fantastic. The wife says the cucumber kiwi mixed drink was the best drink she's had in a long time. We ordered the mango fish and the fish Louisiana. I don't have words to describe how good both of these dishes were. The portions are huge and we both took them home enough for another meal. We will likely be visiting on a regular basis from here on out. Even the service was great. Exceptional job! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Good food and service. Love the live band. Music could be a bit loud at times, especially if sitting inside near the stage, but the performance was very entertaining that it didn’t matter to us. My family and I were vibing to the music all night long.

We were a party of seven that were seated right away on a Friday night at 630pm. Our waitress was pretty attentive. She had a few other tables to tend to. Our orders came out all at the same time after about 15mins. My son and I ordered the steak and shrimp which came out on a raised grill looking sterno. The only issue I had was that the fire under my food made everything else hot. When I finished my delicious, hot meal, the handles were hot. At one point during my meal, I burned my chin bringing my fork to my mouth. It's pretty loud in this restaurant but the restrooms were clean and our food was tasty.

If you like loud, party, outgoing, dance, high energy this is the place. Most of the food are big portions. Food is good and I will definitely come back. Music can be loud especially for birthday shout outs.

My favorite place to go to for aguachile or if I’m hungover. I only order two things here. Shrimp aguachile or the fried shrimp. Both are absolutely amazing. The drinks are a 3 out of 5 and service can vary depending on how busy they are. But overall you’ll have a good experience…..unless their live music is blasting then hopefully you enjoy eating without talking to the person you came with because communication amongst your group will be impossible.

My favorite Mexican-style shrimp cocktail place! They have a bunch of seafood and steak, chicken grilled-mix options. Great prices and awesome service. 11-21-2022 Update: I lowered my stars to 3 because I was very disappointed with the quality of their shrimp cocktail. We frequent this spot regularly for our girl's quarterly meet-up and have never experienced an issue. However, this visit was very disappointing. My friend was chewing on a piece of metal scrub pad about 1.5" long!! A dangerous health hazard avoided!! The manager was apologetic and comped our parrillada, understandable, a human error. As we're wrapping up our visit & chatting, I tipped my 1/2 empty water glass to take a few more drinks, and there's a semi-dead fly floating in my water. So disgusting and unacceptable. Again, the manager was very apologetic & understanding, our visit was comped, which this was appreciated, but until they cleaned up their kitchen and bus stations, we will find another gathering place. It's a shame, we really like their food & atmosphere. Folks, check your glasses and chew your food carefully before you swallow!!

I ordered a pound of boiled shrimp but it tasted like it was boiled in the cheapest hot sauce it was so sour no one ate much we left more that half and then we all got a stomach flu diarrhea for 3 days we love the place but the food is just bad

The food was good, but unfortunately the service was not. Our server, Ms. Monse, was a bit rude, and there was also an issue with my child’s meal. When we first ordered, I clearly asked for chicken tenders for my kid, but she either didn’t hear me or didn’t write it down. Later, she said one of the plates she brought was supposed to be my child’s, which it wasn’t. I told her it was fine, but I still ended up being charged for the meal my child never received.

Atmosphere was good, it was karaoke night. The food was decent. The waitress misunderstood my order, and I was disappointed with the response. The waitress got our order wrong, but only gave us an apology and said we had to pay extra to get the order correct. Felt like she placed the blame entirely on us instead of taking a small step to fix it.

First of all, I don't like going to a place to be served, and there's a language barrier. Although I know a little bit of what you're saying because I can speak Español un poco. But you have NO idea what I'm saying, and costing me extra money for things we did not ask for but to substitute. Or take off you're just guessing so then the orders are WRONG!!! And because it was a party of 6 adults, (which is crazy!) a $30 gratuity that was completely not earned was on the total! She only came to the table one time. And that was because she didn't understand anything we were saying, and we needed her about 4 times! All the tables that spoke her language she was at those tables 3 times or more. We had to ask 3 times for the lemonade to be refilled, ask for a cup of ice to go and it was less than half full when it was brought to me, had to wait 10 minutes for to go containers. And to top off everything, the food was not good. Polo Del Mar was good, but everything else was subpar. So $215 later, very disappointed! Ask to speak to a manager. No one ever came so with that being said we left but will not return.

Turn down your damn loud music!!!! Can't hear any conversations!!!!! Trying to talk to bartenders and ordering drinks... impossible.

Had a paella and the rice taste like butter, awful! My kids didn’t eat their food and my wife didn’t like it either. Not impressed at all by the food! They should take a look at the quality… it looks impressive but need more flavor!

I’ve been in this place all the Time and these waitress her name is Flavia M this is how it say in my receipt she charge us for some alcohol that we did not ask her for, she was so rude very unprofessional. She keep being on her phone every time we wave our hand to call her out she roll her eyes and came to the table. She always give us attitude the whole entire time we were there, and I ask her for a soda for my child and she told me oh, I didn’t charge you for the soda, but it’s OK. I’m not going over there for you to give me a free things just because she messed up her job. Other people were taking care of us every time she was gone for a long time I cannot believe what was wrong with this person. I love going to this place. The food is great, but this time the service it was horrible and I’m sorry, but she did not deserve the gratuity that it was being put into my ticket.

Today my family of 10 went for dinner to celebrate my my sons arrival home from the navy. We were so disappointed in our food. The food was cold . The shrimp was hard and chewy. The portion are smaller than before. We were disappointed in every single plate if food we ordered . Every the kids meal was bad. Dont waste your money on this place. If they are ok with a family spending there hard earned money on such terrible food then they dont deserve our business. We use to love this place .

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Viva Maripos deserves honesty. Unfortunately, my visit turned into a very alarming VAD moment. I ordered a beer and specifically asked for a glass. After pouring my drink and taking a sip, I immediately felt pain—the glass was chipped on three different sides, and it actually cut my lip. It was shocking and completely unacceptable for any restaurant to hand a customer a glass in that condition. The manager came over, simply replaced the glass, and walked away. No apology beyond the bare minimum, no concern for my safety, no offer of compensation, nothing. For something that could have caused a serious injury, the lack of accountability was extremely disappointing. As for the food: The ceviche is good—my child loves it. I ordered the steak with shrimp, requested medium, but it arrived a bit overcooked. We also ordered the snapper chicharrón. It tasted great, but for $37, receiving about seven or eight small pieces feels overpriced.(size of pieces as small as chicken nuggets) Overall, the food is decent, but the customer service and safety standards were genuinely horrible. Because of the experience, this would not be my first choice if recommending a seafood spot in the area. I hope management improves quality control and their approach to situations that put customers at risk.

Bad practice the waiters started doing with a party of 6 or more😡😡Luckily I caught that even though they already add gratuity to your tab but i noticed that on electronic device for cards was asking for an 18%,20% or 25% hoping we wouldn’t catch the bad practice. Even though food was great as usual but it did leave a bad taste.

This place has good food but sadly only care if you are dining in. I've gone several times to get food to go and it takes so long for me to get my order even if it's just ceviche and it's not about getting the food but about that they have so many employees but they will ignore that you're there to pick up food until you go and ask again. This time I saw the manager walking by and he was very kind to help me when I told him. I just wish they had better service even for those who are ordering pick up orders but every time I go I wait 15-20 mins to get help. Not even to bring the food out.
