Most people (me included) love their lunch menu, it's very good and generous I recommend going for their specialties, you won't be disappointed!

Always a Sunday favorite. There are so many things I've never tried. Some recent dishes I've added to my rotation include IID SPECIAL(all the veggies & all the meats), pan fried chicken, & Chow Mein Hong Kong Style (IID SPECIAL on Ramen noodles). There's no other Chinese like Fortune Garden outside of the Valley.

We go here 1-2 times a week my friend loves the garlic shrimp. Even the half order is sizable. And the shrimp are very large. Always great service and the owner and girls up front are always friendly. Clean and unlike other places you get extra napkins without asking and when you get iced tea they bring out a dish of lemons. For me it is important that they hav tofu and veggie dishes. I am a vegan and it is hard to find anywhere in imperial valley that isn't unhealthy Mexican food or fast food junk. We take out of town friends there when we have company and everyone always enjoys it

Better than mexicali chinese food

A family celebration we were eight we order a family dinner combination for 4 people 1 combination plate and a soup very generous portions. Took the leftovers over to my niece's house and eight more people eat the leftovers so that was tons of Chinese. Lots of flavor.

This is the best Chinese we have found since we lived in SD. My husband and i are huge foodies. Every chance we get my husband and i are here with our kids. And the service is impeccable! I always order #H. I love love love their salt and pepper chicken and fried rice❤

Food is pretty good, no real complaints other than I just didn't like the ramen. Sushi burrito is a 10/10 I always get the Kona volcano, and it's freaking huge! I also got a side of their crispy garlic tofu, it was surprising that it came with a sauce, and more surprising is that I actually loved the sauce! Their sushi are pretty good too, I haven't tried a lot of them but the California always slaps.

We got there and the restaurant was absolutely packed. Despite this, they managed to seat us in about 5 minutes. The food was excellent, with MASSIVE portions, service was excellent. I've worked in the restaurant industry for more than 15 years and I'm hard to impress. I was VERY impressed.

Was greeted and seated right away, multiple TVs with games on, great open space and not squished together, TVs also not blaring so conversations can still be had, a med egg flower soup could feed a family of 6, you will leave this place with left over no doubt! Bbq pork, Mongolian beef, sweet sour chicken, cream cheese wontons, chow mein, everything so delicious and amazing helpings. Was the first time going and will definitely be back.

Really good Chinese/Baja mex food. In case you don’t know the history of Chinese immigrants in the region, to be exact Mexicali, this is one of the Chinese restaurants still here with influence from the Chinese population that lived and flourished in Mexicali, when Chinese moved to Mexicali Mexico after the US passed the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. This is one of the few, if not the only region, Mexicali and Imperial County, where you will get Chinese food that has some Mexican ingredients from over 140 years of tradition.

The customer service isn't the best , but its understandable because there is quite an abundance of people some of the time. I've had some unpleasant experiences here, for instance a hair in my food. If you exclude those rare occasions, this place is alright.

Happened to be in the area. My boyfriend and I explore El Centro, CA often. Anyways, we we're a little hungry. No, you know what I'm totally lying. I was starving. We stumbled into this small restaurant. I really liked it. Thai tea was bomb. Orange Chicken, and Sweet & Sour Pork was super dank. Pork was crispy, and cooked to perfection! Orange Chicken had the most perfect balance. Super Affordable As Well!!!!

At first when you arrive you are attended promptly, but after you've been served and your wanting/needing something, is when you need to ask a different waiter/waitress to help you out! But what i end up doing is getting up myself to ask for what ever i need!!!!!!!!!!! One thing i hate though with all my being is when you know they know your looking at them and they still avoid you! Hey, I get it, your busy, but please, can you at least acknowledge me and tell me "you'll be back with me in a bit"??????? Something, anything, thank you! My favorite plates were the broccoli with beef and chop suey. Great place to have a party. They have plenty of room for it.

This is my first time trying Fortune Garden. I ordered take out, so my review reflects that: I picked up 1/2 hour later than my estimated "order ready" time BUT the food was still HOT (I appreciated that). The Special Egg Foo Yong was the BEST I've ever had - thick, eggy but NOT greasy in the slightest. The Special Fried Rice - VERY good. Lots of thin-sliced Chinese sausages (sweet-smoky-savory, SO GOOD), shrimp, chicken and GARLIC. Pale to look at, but very tasty..! The Orange Chicken...erm.. dredged in a too-thick batter that came out tough when fried. The chicken inside was tender and moist though. The sauce? Terrible. They used their sweet and sour sauce with some red pepper flakes and some shreds of orange peel. Disappointed with that, but over all -- VERY good. Will try their Crispy Duck and a few other dishes before adjusting my review. Bottom line? Try this place. Well worth it.

Food is good. But saying they close at 9pm is not right. I came at 8:40pm to order to-go and they denied me service, claiming "kitchen is closed." What's the point then?

Food is good, but the service was not. Waitresses were no where to be found. I came on Wednesday at 2:30pm not busy at all. I asked for my own bill.

In the first place, the place was packed with people and there was alot more waiting to be seated. When I was finally seated, I ordered Jasmine tea to start. After I got the tea and ordered the meal, the wait began. I understood the twenty minute wait to be seated, but the thirty minutes thereafter was a bit much. I had ordered Junpo noodle soup and some Mongolian chicken (with rice) as a side dish. They usually bring plates first with some lemon wedges too. So you know that your order is coming next, right? However it does not. Another server comes by and leaves another set of dishes and place settings instead. That was it for me. I should have left but they did serve me tea. When I went cashier to pay for the tea, they said they were sorry about the experience and let me go withiut paying. It is usually very busy when I visit (2pm to 5pm) but the wait to be served the order has never been more than 15 minutes. Despite the experience, I will be back. This time, I guess, was more busy than usual.

Just had lunch....the food was grest but our waitress was terrible. She brought our drinks and food but didn return to our table to refill our drinks or check on us. We noticed she stopped at the other tables, she was servicing, several times, to chat and refill their drinks. We tried to get her attention but she just ignored us...did we leave her a tip? HELL NO!

Ordered a Chicken Chow Mein but no chicken at all just three little pieces

Since their opening dining their customer service went down, it looked like new employees with lil or no waitressing skills, they lacked customer service skills. I had a waitress come by and asked what we were drinking, we told her and her answer was just, "oh its cuz I need to know what you are drinking" mind u she wasn't even our waitress. She never came back around. Weird?? I didn't see any of their older personnel, they were good employees. These new ones are very green, they need to be properly trained. Not going back in awhile.

I order 2 weeks ago fried shrimp to go and the Styrofoam container was melted on the hot shrimp. They need to put hot items on cardboard containers not Styrofoam. They serve delicious food but this Styrofoam container is not healthy for customers.

This place has gone down hill. Bad costumer service when you go and pickup your order to go. The food is good and I don't mind the wait but make sure before you go to check that all your order is correct. Its not right for the costumer to wait an hour for the food and then find out when you get home that it's not all there.I have gone back to get the rest of the order and the ladies in the counter make faces at you like if it was our fault.

Food is good. It used to be SO MUCH better. People in the valley like Chinese food in Mexicali, and Fortune Garden was until a few months ago, just as good or even better. There was no reason to go across the border for good Chinese food. Unfortunately, the last few times I've eaten at Fortune Garden, have been different

Slow service, cold soup, cold tea, attitude from servers, steam fish were more pieces of something, egg rolls arrived after the main meal. After covid it all changed and not for the best, food tasted good. Swrvers just keep going by you, We almost felt like beggars asking fora free meal.

I’ve been coming to this place for many, many years. It was always okay, however, this last time, it wasn’t. The server wasn’t very attentive and the food wasn’t all that great. We had to wait on our server a lot and even had to get up and ask for her. They brought my mom’s coffee without sugar or cream. By the time the sugar and cream was brought, the coffee was cold. I will say that the quantity of food is good! Don’t know if I’ll be back. (Got the special soup, and package #1 for 5 people, which had 2 rice plates, chow mein, beef & broccoli, egg rolls, sweet n sour chicken.)

This place could be a 4 star maybe 5 but they are inconsistent in their service and food quality. You can visit one day and get great food freshly made and go back and get food that has been sitting under a warmer or precooked for rush hour which is something they could get away with, with fried rice or chow mein but not deep fried food such as their salt pepper chicken. Too much of a gamble to visit again unless you are ok with returning soggy /cold food and asking for freshly made instead.

I ordered three combo plates, one with brocoli beef, one with sweet and sour chicken and one with salt and pepper fish. All plates had an abundance of chow mein, but very little of the main coarse. I recomend you do not visit this restaurant when it is near its closing time. I expected better from the Fortune Garden.

Food is always pretty good but the service is consistently terrible. Food and drinks arrive in a timely manner but the customer service always stinks. I recommend this place if ur looking for a place with good food but don't mind crappy customer service.

Waitress took forever to bring water. The hot tea wasn't hot. She never came by to ask if we needed anything. We had to wave her down. They brought me my food 5 minutes before anybody else got food.

Used to be good, but now they've lowered their quality standards. I've literally gotten sick a few times eating here. I also found a black beetle in my rice, and the server said it was due to the heat and there's was nothing they could do about it. As a restaurant, they must make sure there is no pests getting into the food they serve. What if something worse sneaked into the food, would that be considered acceptable? They should be placing insecticide around the building at least. I still had to pay for a plate that wasn't cheap with a bug I didn't order. Least you could've done was not charge it. Not considering going again. What an Unfortunate Garden that is.

Got the orange chicken to go and got the sauce on the side, went to reheat the sauce and found some chow mein noodles just floating in it and got a little grossed out because idk where the noodles came from, how is there going to be chow mein noodles in a dish that doesn’t have anything associated with orange chicken.

Chicken was rubbery and the vegetables were raw. Waitress told us the fried wontons were stuffed, we ordered them, they were not. Then she tried to claim the stuffing was inside the fried wonton skin. After breaking many in half she finally admitted they we not. Only plus is it's cheap and you get a very large serving of possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever had (Kung Pao Chicken).

I'm so disappointed all day I was craving Chinese food stopped by Fortune Garden by the El Centro Mall after work to pick up dinner. When I got home food was cold it tasted old and chicken was very dry, rice was still hard. Yes I could've taken the food back but I live a bit to far to drive all the way back. Never again will I eat or order out from this place.

Horrible experience with their employees I called to place and order and I get here and they say they didn’t get it I understand it may be busy at times but maybe update your system so that you won’t forget about orders been here many times before and now I will go to another place for Chinese food. Cheap prices for CHEAP FOOD!!!! This place was absolutely disgusting. My boyfriend and I were on our way back to Arizona and were in need of something to eat. We saw a Chilis and an Olive Garden, but being the adventurous people we are we thought we'd try something new. Boy, was that a mistake. First off, I had to use the restroom since we had been in the car for a while so we asked for two glasses of water and then I immediately walked to the bathroom. Terrible! The bathroom was gross and the stall didn't lock. I would've been better off stopping a few miles back at a rest area, or better yet off to the side of the road. Anyway, when I arrived back at my table I found to my surprise that we had been given Iced Tea instead of water.. At this point we should have just walked out, but instead decided to give the food a shot. Wrong choice again. We ordered sesame chicken, orange chicken and steamed rice. About 5 minutes after placing our order our food arrived. Rather fast for a place that I'm assuming is made to order. Upon arrival I grabbed a small piece of orange chicken to try. I had a hard time swallowing it was so gross. The sauce tasted like something you'd get out of a jar from a supermarket and the chicken was as if it had been cooked weeks ago and then warmed to serve. That was my first and last bite of the chicken. We then asked to get our check. To touch on service, it was.. Well.. We didn't have service. We were given dirty menus, brought the wrong drinks, and only spoken to in Spanish (I do not speak any Spanish.). Overall, we should not have had to pay to eat there, instead they should be paying people to eat here. That being said though, you could not pay me enough to eat here again. Nicely put, the only way this place may get better is to lock the doors and burn the building down.

In all my years of working in the restaurant business never have I gone to eat when the establishment was slow full staffed and get poor service and cold food that took forever to get. And not only did they take the cold food back it was obvious they microwaved it. If you can’t be a good server then maybe you shouldn’t be in the restaurant business period

One person took our drink order. The teas had ice but the waters had hardly any ice. The waiter who took our order never returned to our table. Someone brought only one of the three plate combos we ordered and it was lukewarm. The other two combos arrived several minutes later brought to us by someone else. No one came by to check on us there after therefore we had no refills or fortune cookies. Definitely not good service!

Horrible place ordered drinks and got the wrong ones. Than after 30 min wait I decided to walk over and change my own drink. While we saw our server standing around eating her candy. We just had to walk out. If you want to waste your time sitting, then go to this horrible place. - #'s if I could on here.

Terrible dried food, pepper chicken and salt pepper fish. Tastes like it's fast food. They used to have better food. Oh and the busboy/server seemed irritated by our presence, bald guy. I inquired if he was alright, he said "'im straight" however other times, he talked as though he didn't speak good English. Never going back again.

The other day I had ordered my food using the Beyond Menu app the night before. Fortune Garden at the IV Mall opened at 11:00 am and my order was supposed to be ready at 11:45 am. Once I got to the restaurant people who had ordered that morning we’re getting their food before me. When I asked the employees at the register where my order was they just laughed at me! My food was at least 15-20 minutes late being brought out to the front. The girls at the register seemed to think it was very humorous that I was upset. Once I got home I found that the outer plastic bag was full of leaked liquid, and the chop suey was almost 99% bean sprouts with no meat, and the bean sprouts looked old. My pot stickers were old and dried out. Only order worth eating was my wife’s shrimp and broccoli. I will never go to Fortune Garden at IV Mall again - the customer service sucks and the food is awful! Steer clear of this place, unless you like being mistreated.

food is normally very good. Sunday was a horrible experience. understandably it was Mothers Day but I had ordered the night before and when I arrived people that ordered Sunday morning were getting their food before me. I waited almost 2 hours and after asking for my money back they brought my food and just pushed the bag of food to me. I live 5-7 minutes down the road and when I opened the food was lukewarm at best. It obviously had been sitting for some time. Very disappointing meal for Mother's Day. Suggestion for the future, make the food in order that you receive the order and actually keep better track of what is ready.

They unhook phones when they are busy, and they turn off online option when busy. Stopped by on mothers Day to place take out order, said that they were not because they were busy. I would be nice to add a message to the phone relaying this information instead of running into these issues by driving.

I really don't like posting bad reviews but this restaurant truly earned it. The service was horrible. They basically ignored me the entire time then when delivering my food they walked by without looking at me and threw it on the table. They didn't refill my water or check on me the entire time I was there. Most importantly, the food tasted like they bought it out of the frozen food section at a Wal-Mart. The pot stickers tasted like they were microwaved and were room temperature. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life. I strongly suggest eating at one of the many other options surrounding this place.

They need to fix their hours of operations on here or answer the phones. They are always “closed early” I think we’ve tried to come here at least 4 times and EVERY time they have some excuse as to why they are “closed early”. Best one yet is “we ran out of pork” like what!? You have to close your whole restaurant? What if I didn’t want pork? Crazy. It’s like they don’t want want customers. Least you guys can do it update your hours so we can try and come in when you guys are actually open. 7pm!? Sad. Guess this is why the valley is the way it is.

Runs out of food often. Rarely see server after ordering including having to ask for the check and cartons. Sweet and Sour often cold in the middle suggesting prepped and stored. Closes early regularly Fr-Su. A little sticky tables and booths. Daughter likes the food but I've had much better.

Terrible food! Disgusting and dry chicken never coming again. To say Panda express is way better than this. 🤢 gross gross gross. Waiter was nice only compliment I can give. Owner pointed at us and was laughing with emplyees after we told them food was not to our liking. Chicken was dry and stiff as heck. Chow mein had no flavor. Horrible experience!!!!!!

Service was outstanding, restaurant was clean, my 1 star was for the food......rice appeared to be minute rice, the chop suey was bean sprouts and a little meat, there were no other vegetables and the sauce had zero flavor. The portion was huge but that is just a lot of food that went into the trash. I understand that different restaurants have different recipes but this was 2 ingredients and zero flavor. Very disappointing as we read all the reviews and were looking forward to good chinese food.

Today was my 1st visit to this place. I took my family with me and I'm extremely disappointed with this place. The food had insects. They don't change the oil often, obviously. It was disgusting. The waitress did not check on us to see if we needed anything else. We had to go and look for her to show her the fried insects in the food. On top of that, they only gave us a 10% discount. Even tho we left most of the food. It was a terrible experience.

its a "well worn" ascetic with large portions of "so-so" food. the pork was as dry as the surrounding desert, the steamed broccoli was so hard it almost bit back and the wontons are a glorified chip.. no filling and the waiter gave as much crust as the chow mein when I asked about it. all in all I can honestly say I wouldn't even recommend this place to somebody I didn't even care for. my companion and myself ate just enough to know we will never be coming again. leaving not so much hangry as just completely disappointed.
