Amazing Dimsum. Price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of Dimsum. Suimai is a highlight.
best in atmosphere cleanliness’s and being organize …. their smoothies were so refreshing one of the best smoothies i’ve ever had.,,, food were fantastic .
Drove all the way from San Diego to here on a SAT morning just for this!! They serve pretty decent dim sum + a really unique almond sweet soup bake (酥皮杏仁茶)it was surprisingly delicious!! Price wise ~ it’s acceptable! All the dishes are starting from $5ish but you gotta eat something FRESH! Will come back again when visiting Irvine again!
My Chinese girlfriend made me come here with her and try it. I've never had lobster with soy sauce so this was new. We ordered way too much food for just us two to eat, but it was really good. I'm not sure what they're called, but almond deserts they give you at the end are really good as well. The service was great and I'd definitely come back.
A really great Dim Sum restaurant in Irvine that also has a regular menu which you can actually still order from even during the Dim Sum service. It's one of the pricier options in the area, but we'll worth it and I would argue even better than the even more expensive option in the District. My guess is people agree because there will regularly be lines with wait times of 15-30 minutes.
You come here for the amazing flavors, not the atmosphere. Basically, everything we ordered, was very tasty. All the food seemed to be prepared with expertise and care. Place seemed to be constantly crowded with lines out the door. Dim Sum here, I can honestly say, is better than most places.
Good food, Less server. Dim sum is great. Very busy on lunch. The price is a little higher since the taste is good. However, it's for Asian style food that Americans may not like it much.
Went for dim sum around noon. The place was busy and we had to wait for a bit. The food was delicious and they had a wide range of selections. You can also order from the regular menu as well. The service was attentive. I would go back.
China Garden is as good as it gets for Dim Sum in Orange County. Shu Mai, Char Su Bao, Shrimp Balls and BBQ pork Chow fun are all excellent.
Came here with a group from work without a reservation. They accommodated a dozen of us and the food was delicious.
My kids a all-time favorite place to eat is here. Food is great. Customer service is great especially when we get Rudy as our server he’s always attentive and friendly!
My family and I have been coming here for years. We love the food, but more importantly the staff. They are always so welcoming and quick to help. We especially enjoy when Rudy is our server, he is always ready with suggestions to try new meats and he is very attentive. We look forward to our next visit!
Excellent! The wait time was short. Service was fast and friendly. Food was tasty. My son left something behind and they were kind enough to give me a call when they found it. We have been here multiple times and everything has always been good.
This Korean BBQ spot was absolutely delicious! They offer a great variety of dishes, and everything we tried was full of flavor. The service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. I have to mention their paper rice and radish kimchi, they were exceptionally good and really stood out. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.
So good. Been coming here for about 20 years, as soon as they opened, way before they started AYCE. I love that the food and side dishes have not changed. Love the hot sauce especially. I don’t know what they put into the regular chili sauce, but it’s to die for. Has not changed in 2 decades. We don’t do AYCE, so we get amazing quality meat, and we can take leftovers home
Great experience with all you can eat: very quick in bringing out ordered items. Decent variety of options including other side dishes such as steamed egg and spicy Tofu soup. Had one weird instance where they mistakenly took the food still on the grill when doing a grill change but good service otherwise.
This place was phenomenal! The food and service were beyond any of my expectations, and I definitely plan many more visits here. So let's walk step by step through this one, because it is definitely worthy of being highlighted. To start, this was a recommendation from several people that spoke about it in a way that made me say we have to take a trip here. They would speak about the food as if reliving the experience noting how each item was throughly enjoyed-- a proper foodie tell, so I rounded my kids up during their spring break and we made the 30 minute drive to this specific location even though there is another closer. We were told, Garden Grove location specifically will not disappoint and I tell you, they were right! So we find the parking lot, which was a touch confusing because we had to circle back around to a side road to access it. Once we found it, the entrance to be honest was a touch concerning because there was graffiti on the wall and it didn't necessarily look safe. Once 11:30 hit, we headed in as their first customers for the day and pleasantly surprised at this recently renovated interior area. It was clean, spacious, well lit, and music lightly playing in the background that made the environment inviting and relaxing. The waitress was exactly what we needed-- patient, helpful, and attentive. I had a lot of questions because this was an extensive menu and could easily be overwhelming. She guided me through all of the options for all you can eat, lunch only options, various meat options, and proper grilling times for each meat. Once we decided on the order, the table was dressed with all of the sides, two grills because I didn't want the pork and beef to mix since I am not a pork eater, and our beverages. The utensils were very clean and the silver goblets for water kept the water very cold, even without ice. Once the meat started arriving, we began the grilling process and let me say, it was an experience! The smell of the food was making our stomachs growl and we couldn't wait to give this food a shot. They have hefty portions, but none of it went to waste because we made sure not to eat before this feast. Literally everything was good! The rice, soup, marinated beef, beef belly, squid, pork marinated, pork belly, small intestines, pickled cucumbers, kimchi, seaweed, and dipping sauces. Again, I don't eat pork, but my kids couldn't get enough! The waitress was able to help for most of our visit because we were the only people there for a while since we arrived early. She made us feel so welcomed and was happy to help us have a good experience. I appreciated her demeanor and guidance through the process because it did make all of the difference. At the end of the visit, make sure you don't walk out the door without getting their blueberry ice cream. It was the perfect sized sweet treat to end this feast! I was so full after this meal, I literally could not eat dinner because I was full into the evening hours. I never overeat, but I couldn't help myself at this place because it was truly that good. Every bite I relished and completely understood after leaving why the personal recommendations we received were so high. Not one issue here. The exterior of the restaurant could use some work, but man oh man, this humble restaurant on the side of the road blew our minds!!
Authentic dim sum with wide varieties. Dim Sum come in carts that is reminiscent of old Hong Kong style restaurants. Waiters are friendly, attentive and helpful. A must try in Irvine! Dinner there was equally impressive with authentic Canto-style dishes that are mouth-watering.
The best siu mai I’ve had in the USA. As for the rest of the dimsum taste wise it was ok. We also ordered their lobster noodles too and it was pretty good. On the crowded side especially on the weekends. Waiting time for us was around 30 min.
First time at this place. Been in Irvine for a year and every time when passing by this restaurant, we see people waiting outside. The to go order takes about 30 mins to ready. PRICE is quite reasonable. Food taste okay but we live the porridge quite a bit.
Seems like we always hit this place when in the area, the missus loves the seafood. When getting lobster you must get it as the house special (fried with seasoning and jalapeños), super yummy. The eggplant is my favorite dish here. I would go to this seafood restaurant just to eat the Eggplant Szechuan Style I like how the sauce is not too wet and the eggplants are caramelized with the sauce. Every once in a while the eggplant dish comes out super caramelized and it's like having a mouth O. Other dishes we usually get are the Pan Fried Diced Beef Steak w/Black Pepper and the Crispy Deep Fried Bean Curd. Lunch time is pretty decent and fun too if you like dim sum. Place used to be busier, must be all the new competition. Would rate it a 5 if the place was cleaner, bathrooms are kind of gross. June 2023 Just got Eggplant Szechuan Style for take out, don't do it. None of the caramelized goodness, taste is fine but texture is all wrong. Just soggy veggies that gets steamed in container. May 2024 Went at lunch time to get fresh shrimp and dimsum. So good. Added some pictures too.
Get 6 dim sum items and get lobster noodle for $21.99. The dim sum was pretty good but the lobster noodles wasn’t. It lacked flavor and I personally didn’t prefer the texture of the noodles. Service was fast and attentive.
Food was average good for AYCE. The finger steaks were very tough and chewy though. Everything else was good quality meat including the tongue. They did a great job with checking on us regularly for side dishes, dipping sauces and water refills. Everything we ordered, or asked for came out quickly too.
Place recommended by a friend and I’m glad we tried it. This is such good Korean barbecue and would love to go in person for the all you can eat. The menu to go is only in the Grubhub app and not on the website - in case anyone is confused like I was when looking to place my order for pick up 😅
Essential AYCE KBBQ. The wait is long but you can check in via Yelp. The service is good and the meat selection is as expected for the carnivorous meal that you'll consume and digest over the next few days. It'll definitely be a meat heavy, high protein, and plentiful banchan spread kind of meal that you should only have once in awhile otherwise I'd question how your bowels will handle the incessant investment of red meat you'll consume in one sitting. Tip: always ask for the onions, mushroom and garlic slices to enhance the meat as it cooks.
Traditional Korean BBQ. The price is fair. Service is great. The quality of meat is great. My family and my friends' family have had a good time. Thanks Shik Do Rak for opening during Thanksgiving and not adding minimum expenses. The sides are not as many as other Korean BBQ. Maybe it is because the holiday. I can see that they are out of servers. Overall, it is a good place for lunch or dinner.
Dim sum are good. Shrimp options are good. Turnip cake was good too. There’s more of pork and beef options. Less of chicken option except the chicken legs. I like the way the dim sums are served in carts. I am very new to this restaurant. More of chicken option would also be great in dim sums. It’s too crowded. I had been at the peak time I guess. Super long line, but it gets cleared quick.
China Garden is always our go-to dim sum place. We love the siu mai and pineapple custard buns. However we went today for lunch, obviously the siu mai recipe was changed as it’s less flavored and I think they put lots of fatty pork. Every bite was full of oily greasy fatty pork. It gives us less motivation to go in the future. Luckily the pineapple custard bun is still very good.
Overall, it's just ok. The meat quality at AYCE restaurants is always going to be lower, so I expected that. The side dishes were pretty good. Magkeolli was really nice. The smoke vent does not work well so it's really smoky in there and the smoke blows in your face while the meat cooks. The decor inside is minimal. Kind of expensive for what you get. I don't think I'll come back.
Lunch time is not busy at all so the service was good and attentive. The side dishes are still good and they will offer to give you more if needed. The Prime combo A (not ayce) was a very deceptive description because the quality of the meat was poor and other than the brisket, nearly inedible. The meat was not just fatty but unable to chew. It was more like chew and spit out. I know this is a harsh criticism but it’s 100% true. Don’t put “prime” when it’s clearly not even “choice” cuts of beef. Wasted over $100 plus tax and a generous tip for the service because I am a good person. Blaming the owners not the workers…
China Garden held cherished memories from my childhood as it was my mom's preferred spot for dim sum. It pains me to see its decline. The flavors now miss the mark, and the overall cleanliness is questionable, especially in the restroom. The staff seemed more interested in personal chats than in attending to customers. It was especially off-putting when a waitress showed displeasure after we passed on her dim sum offerings. Quite a letdown.
Some feedback to the manager or owner: Tonight, my wife and I decided to give your restaurant a try. We behaved respectfully, ordered courteously, and did nothing that would warrant the attitude we received from you. You served us for most of the evening, though a few of your employees helped toward the end of our meal. When you returned near the end, you demanded that we finish a portion of food and threatened to charge us for leftovers — after we had already paid our bill. When I pointed this out, you proceeded to scold the employee who had processed our payment, in front of us. For the record, his service far exceeded yours. He was polite, attentive, and professional. He did not deserve that treatment and is owed an apology. This was the first time we’ve ever been given a hard time for leaving a reasonable amount of food uneaten. Not every dish will appeal to every customer, and that’s simply part of the dining business. Your material costs are not the only thing that matter — customer goodwill is far more valuable. To be fair, the food, atmosphere, and pricing were all reasonable. But the service experience with you left a lasting impression. Before returning, we would have to decide whether we’re in the mood to risk another confrontational experience. Finally, one of your employees sprayed cleaning solution (likely Windex) near our table, which landed on my pregnant wife and possibly her food. We chose to overlook this in good faith—until your own behavior made the evening impossible to ignore.
I ordered pork BBQ buns to go, and when I got home, I found a fly on one of them. Totally unacceptable. I expect better food safety and cleanliness standards from any restaurant. Very disappointed and won’t be returning.
Service is very poor. If I can give it a zero, I will. Chinese waiters were rude. Refused to add two additional seats when we had family members joining two of us 15 minutes after we were seated. We were told to go to the front desk to ask for a manager approval. The waiter was short with us and turned his back on us without any explanation. When a Spanish waiter gave us additional setting, other Chinese waiters gave this Spanish waiter a hard time in public. What a scene! I left in the middle of my meal because I was very uncomfortable.
I was treated badly by a waiter and left without finishing my meal. He was arrogant and disrespectful. Although the manager apologized after hearing my complaint, it appears that there is no consequence for unprofessional behavior at this place because the waiter was so quick and eager to refer me to the manager. Their dim sum is not the best but their price is in par with the top dim sum restaurants in town. There are more than 6 dim sum restaurants in town. Two fancy dim sum restaurants just opened within the last 30 days. Good luck with the competition. With this bad service, you need it.
My daughter really wanted me to try this place but when we went it was a different story. We got their at 10:30,and the big tall bold haired lady was really Rude ,I think she wanted to go home, but restaurant closes at 12,I think she was mad because she wanted to go home early but we showed up ,the younger guy told us as saying sorry for the rudenes joked with us that she was "tired" ,the other lady was mean too I think she was the manager, but the the younger staff where very nice, they really saved the night, because the older lady snatched the menu away from my hand and when asked for a Manger I was told they didn't have one working that night,we didn't know what to order sense it was our first time and we asked for octopus and when the younger staff brought us one the older lady got mad and went and took the food of the table and scolded the younger ones,I didn't know at the time that we couldn't get that, I have a video of him getting yelled at,the older lady's were talking about us in their language, and we can tell it was not nice, I think they got made cause I gave each Young staff 5$ as a tip because they were the only ones that made me feel welcomed and I think they gave the tips to the older lady,I didn't like that but okay,I will never go back their again ,worst experience every.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like I have to warn others about this place. The service was shockingly poor — the servers were rude, careless, and honestly not very clean. They advertise it as all-you-can-eat, but the reality is they bring food extremely slowly, give you tiny portions, and the quality is all over the place. It felt intentional, like they didn’t really want to serve what was promised. I’m sharing this because I don’t want others to waste their time and money the way I did. If you really enjoy Ayce Korean BBQ, please go to All That Barbecue instead. It’s a night-and-day difference in both food and service, at similar prices, and you’ll actually feel taken care of.
