Great place to eat - family friendly, steaks cooked to order, seafood consciously cooked. Carol uses locally-sourced ingredients and Marsha makes the best custard pie EVER. Prices are reasonable and they're open at 5:30AM.
My Daughter and I had lunch today at The Falls Restaurant (5/02/2023) We both thought the Food was delicious & the waitress was very helpful, and kind. I look forward to visiting again! and taking my Mom!!!
We go here all the time on weekends. Great for breakfast, always packed. The food is up a notch or two from most restaurants of its kind in the area, so well worth it. They also have a bar, great bloody marys. Worth waiting for a table if there’s a line.
Love this restaurant. Food is great and the people are very friendly and attentive.
If always wanted to go here and I finally got to go tonight! Amazing food! The prime rib was cooked to perfection and their apple crisp is so good! 😋 Definitely recommend going here if you are in the area :)
Breakfast was great....corned beef hash tasted super fresh and homemade. More stops by with the coffee and I would've give it 5 stars across the board!
Great place for comfort food. Their homemade toast is amazing. Definitely worth a stop if you are looking for some good old American comfort food. The service was excellent as well.
A really nice place for breakfast that opens early, 6AM, if needed. We ate there twice and both experiences were excellent. Home made bread is to die for!
Fast service. Good food
Took my family here tonight my girl has been there before but I had not and it was nothing short of perfect... the service was excellent and well timed... the food was made in orderly fashion... and I must say if u like steak I ordered the 14oz delmonico and it was cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning that I didn't need any steak sauce to enjoy the juicy satisfying steak... will deffintly be returning soon
Best breakfast around. Chalkboard menu. All home cooked. Homemade bread for toast. The first sign of a great restaurant is it is always packed. Breakfast here is that way and never disappoints.
Me and my husband are not from around this area but we went here and the food was impeccable. The steak and eggs were AMAZING and the french toast is homemade and delicious! Thank you so much for a great experience!
My wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time a few weeks ago. I had always heard it was good, we just never had been there when they were open. The food and the service were great, we definitely would recommend it and will be going back.
This is one of the best diners I have been to. The food was great and people were friendly. Our breakfast came out pretty quick and bacon was cooked perfectly! I would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.
It was ok..had breakfast..my sil wasn't impressed with her sausage and cheese omlet..no cheese..all little sausage crumbles came falling out...no big pieces of sausage..looked like ground beef..no flavor..my poached eggs were cold..we didn't bother to complain because they were busy changing over to lunch .very expensive for what we got..no other places around there for breakfast..kind of disappointed 😞 We visited there today..1/21/23 the service was excellent..my husband had to send back his sausage gravy because it was cold..they microwaved it..it was hot but he had eggs over easy on top of it and they microwaved those to..so the eggs were dried out..I had eggs Benedict..it was good..my eggs were hard..I sent back and they came out perfect..my sil. Omelet was great..the place is cute and clean and it was very busy..so I understand getting a few things off..but it was fixed and we enjoyed breakfast 😋
Nice joint, great breakfast, and friendly, hard-working staff. Rwasonable prices. Close to Taughannock SP
This restaurant is so good!!! It feels very local and authentic. Their haddock sandwiches are amazing. So fresh and tasty! The service was excellent, too. Their hours are a little weird, I definitely wish they were open later!!!!
What a breakfast! Fun, comfortable place. Friendly staff. Great food. Rustic, comfortable atmosphere. Can't wait to eat here again.
Oh my goodness! They have everything you could wish for in a breakfast. Tons of specials and coffee was good.
One of the best breakfast places I've EVER been to. Prices were fair but the quality was outstanding. Home-made corned beef hash and home-made thick sliced wheat bread and farm fresh eggs - it doesn't better than this!
We love coming here for breakfast when we visit the area. Good food and great service even when they are really busy.
Great for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast options are particularly good and their homemade bread is delicious. Very friendly staff and quick service. Also we've found it to be a great place to go with our little one.
Great sandwiches, good prices. Would go back again if I was in the area.
The Falls is a great small town restaurant. The food is always good. The portions are excellent. Everything is made fresh with a changing set of daily specials. Highly recommend!
If you want a very good meal with a family atmosphere this is the place to be. If you're expecting fast food and service realize this is not a chain restaurant. If your wait is a little long the food is worth the wait. The staff is accommodating and friendly and make sure you order dessert...
Two sides..bar side and non-bar side. Employees are friendly as well as the owners who often come out of the kitchen and say hello. The place is clean and we have never had to exchange dirty silverware! Food is always good. This has a relaxed atmosphere where you can feel at home.
On vacation and stopped in for breakfast. Food was delicious and good portion size. Blueberry pancakes were yummy! Service was quick and friendly. Hometown atmosphere.
stopped in for lunch on a visit to a nearby cidery and it was a wonderful experience! each staffer was delightful and the food was so delicious -- and SO cheap. i'm used to NYC prices so $4.75 for a grilled cheese is less than the cost of a coffee for me at home, so this was sticker shock in a good way. :) classic comfort food and a warm, friendly vibe. what more could you ask for?
I always come here when family visits. They have good coffee, fine service and a nice menu. I first ate here about 30 years ago. It constantly improves while staying the same where it counts.
I've been here for breakfast three times now. Each and every time it's been spectacular. Homemade whole-wheat bread, french toast with homemade bread, yeah, they're as good as they sound. I haven't been for lunch or dinner, but I'll have to make a point of it. Very nice atmosphere and a wonderful place. Watch out on the weekends though - breakfast time can get pretty crowded. Also to note, you seat yourself; there's no one to direct you to a table.
Very nice restaurant. Clean restrooms and restaurant. Very friendly staff. Felt welcomed the minute you walk in the door. Fantastic priced menu with nice assortment of choices. Good food and very fast service. Many specials to choose from. Our server was great but didn't see a name tag to get her name. Overall very pleasant experience.
I recommend the steak and eggs breakfast as well as the homemade wheat bread. Its made in house and is the best toast ive ever had. Their service is immaculate and is little wait time. I hope you enjoy this place as thoroughly as i have.
As usual the service was excellent. The clientele are good friends. The food was great, 2 poached on English muffin w home fries w garlic! The wait person was fast and courteous and lastly- the price was right!
Had dinner with my husband and our toddler. Everything was so good, I had steak and he had prime rib it was delicious! Everyone was so nice and our baby was a hit with the other customers (and servers). Definitely going to be recommending to friends and family and returning ourselves!
Best Tom turkey I've ever had. Had to get one for the road, which didn't last long, very delicious. Thank you for the recommendation.
Nice, down home diner. Our food was good with ample portions. The prices were very reasonable. I was impressed by our waitress who treated my elderly cousin with such kindness. She is a GEM!
Nice Sports bar setting, good food and friendly staff.
Had a classic American diner breakfast here, they have all the basics on the menu. Service was warm, friendly, and quick. Meal was very affordable and we left quite full. I loved the omelette but couldn’t finish it as I got too full, but I couldn’t leave behind a single piece of the homemade white bread (so good and reminded me of my Grandma’s). Would definitely return, and probably will during our short visit!
We went there for breakfast. I got the Eggs Florentine, it was delicious! We are always happy with the wait staff. Service is fast, and the coffee is always fresh and hot. We look forward to our Sunday breakfast.
We were cruising through at breakfast time and found this treasure. Service is fabulous! The food is incredible! Hubby and I had The Bakers Omlet with homefries. Neither of us was disappointed. All locally resourced and homemade. Don't drive past this local gem. Extra note.... we were pulling a small trailer. Plenty of parking was available for trucks and trailers.
We were looking for a family owned small town restaurant and this was it....the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great...we went 2 mornings....would recommend to anyone in the area. The homemade thick breakfast toast was.a.nive treat.
Delicious breakfast served by friendly folks. Feels like home, but you don't have to do the work.
My wife and I had a delicious breakfast 😋 Would highly recommend it for breakfast and thinking we would also try this restaurant for lunch.
Another great breakfast! Simply the best
This place is GREAT - we just catered for our biz and everyone loved the food!!
I would go here every weekend for breakfast a few years ago, and recently was in town and visited again. Some of the same people are still working there, and it's just as cozy as it always was. Prices are really good. Food is good. Has it's own parking lot. It's close to where they host the grassroots festival and fair, and the dinosaur museum. The bathrooms are kept up with, and are one person at a time so sometimes there's a few people waiting.
What a great find!!! Super breakfast. Place was so friendly and clean. Many customers in there and almost all were greeted by name. We will definitely be back when we are traveling the wine trail.
What a lovely quiet place. Perfect local spot for perfectly prepared breakfast. Eggs exactly as requested. Delicious baked sweets. Wonderful server.
We stumbled upon this little gem on our way home from the Finger Lakes, and I’m so glad we did! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It’s definitely a spot for locals which is my favorite kind of place! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. A great find and worth a stop if you’re in the area!
Really love this restaurant. Service always comes with a smile. We have yet to have a single complaint about the food. And dessert is a MUST!
Always great food and good service. The specials are always great, so check the board on the way to the table.
Falls Restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. The menu offers a fantastic variety, and every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Service was prompt and attentive without ever feeling rushed, which made the whole experience even better. The attention to detail, from presentation to taste, truly sets this place apart. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or a special occasion, Falls Restaurant delivers every time. Highly recommend!
We stopped here for breakfast before hiking to the falls. Great food, but the best was our waitress, Denise. Wonderful sense of humor and she gave us some info about the falls.
We stopped in at Falls Restaurant after spending the morning exploring the trails at Taughannock Falls. What a wonderful surprise. You’ll be hard pressed to find an establishment like this out in the wild these days, but the Falls has been around since 1988. A great little spot with ample seating, great staff, and a menu of homemade breakfast and lunch items. We got the tuna melt, Falls harvest salad, and homemade creamy cauliflower soup and it was all absolutely delicious. Excellent service, both the bartender and our server were so sweet. Stop in for a delicious home cooked meal and you won’t regret it.
This is a good diner. Extremely decent prices for quintessential American diner breakfast and lunch meals. The staff here is on the ball and always ready to help. Prompt coffee refills and timely service. Decent children's activities while you wait for your order. The restaurant is well located for a lunch or breakfast break if you are visiting taughannock State park or other local attractions. Lots of parking and also right next to grassroots.
Good food. Good prices. Good service.
We found this place on our trip to the Finger Lakes. It quickly became our favorite breakfast place! Great food, home cooked meals, friendly staff, clean. It was better than the breakfast at the B&B we stayed at!
Stopped in for breakfast. Service was a little slow. Food was good. Came out hot. There was 6 of us so a large order but all came out together and was good.
It's like a diner. Great breakfast. Homemade bread.
A nice little spot for breakfast. Spring for the homemade bread french toast, and the sausage links are a good choice. Home fries are diced potato with spices style and were pleasant. The staff is very nice, and you don't feel rushed to get out.
Nice restaurant, decent menu options, fairly priced, friendly employees. Food was tasty
Great little breakfast spot. Awesome service and really good breakfast food. Might be a little bit of renovation (saw a hole in the ceiling in one spot, but it was small), but this place is a good stop!
A nice looking average to good American food restaurant. Two older women together, having lunch together to chat. The young waitress seemed at first rather unhappy we thought at first at us (surly lip, grumpy face) but perhaps it wasn't us. Maybe she didn't want to work that day or worried old ladies don't tip. We ate sandwiches and salad sides, coffee, and tried the unremarkable (in flavor) strawberry rhubarb crisp. We will try again sometime because the menu looked good, the setting very nice. I hope to update this with better review of food and staff.
Good food, loved the toast with their thick sliced white bread. Eggs were cooked perfectly and food came out quickly. Many servers and good service. Restroom was very clean. I felt that the food was a tiny bit under-seasoned. It’s a solid diner choice in the area.
We've been here many years ago and had a fantastic breakfast experience. Went back during Grassroots weekend (maybe not the best idea). It wasn't busy, which was unusual. Typically, there was a line at the door to get in! The food was ok, but not the omg-must-eat that it was years ago. Guests were older, and hacking and coughing, which was....gross. I don't know if we'll go back. I miss it from ~8 years ago!
Food is great! Loved the Blueberry pancakes I had this morning! However, usually when you drop something and it hits the customer you apologize or say SOMETHING. Didn't say nothing to me. Other than that it was lovely! :)
We had driven from Ontario for a weekend of state park hikes, breweries and wineries. We came here for breakfast and the food was great, the service was also wonderful. Our server was very polite and she was very helpful with offering us places to see and do. Would recommend breakfast there for anybody. Price was right for the amount of food you get ! We would definitely go back if we drive up to that area again.
Nice diner type restaurant. Homemade bread looked very good on the sandwiches. My mother-in-law ordered the carrot cake which she liked. I did not see nor were we offered kids menus. The waitress did bring a coloring book and crayons for the kids to color in which was nice but not everyone would appreciate that it was already colored on most pages. But the restaurant was cozy and clean, wait staff was friendly and food was good enough.
Service was a little slow, as it seemed there was only one server working at the time. We were a party of four and ordered three different meals. My daughter and I shared the smothered chicken, plenty to share but the chicken was overcooked and not hot. When we received the bill it only had the total and did not list our items, not sure it was correct either but we didn't inquire.
The falls has a quaint comfortable environment. The price seems a little high for portion size. Food was comfortable as well. Not through the roof great, but ok. Sometimes comfortable OK is what you want.
I always get the blueberry pancakes! The last couple times I've gotten them though, they have tasted like grease. Tried tgem for lunch and paid extra for the Mac salad on the side. I couldn't even eat it as it was dried out and visibly old. They are okay for being the only place around.
This place has much better food than one might think if you judged it purely on reading the menu. The Chilli is delicious, the harvest salad very tasty (with their own house pickled beets), and the pies are very good! The prices are also quite reasonable.
Stopped in for lunch with my family. The place has a very nice atmosphere and a decent menu. The bad part was the service was very slow, food came out warm, not hot and the waitress never stopped back to offer a refill on our drinks. Can't really give them my recommendation with other places in the area that are available. It's unfotunate.....
Very traditional American brunch restaurant with a large variety of offerings. We ordered the quiche of the day which was okay but seemed to have a store bought crust. The omelette was premade and the spinach, eggs, and feta cheese were fresh but cold. The coffee was very good!
Friendly service, food was good. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. It just took quite a while to get orders out (eggs, pancakes, standard breakfast fare), and both oatmeal and cream of wheat were out.
I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a little over an hour I got sick from it. Egg was rubbery, bagel was burnt. The waitress was extremely rude, and actually dried her hands on my daughter's sweater after she spilled her drink on her. They told us to seat ourselves but a patron told us the area was closed off after 22 minutes waiting for service. It was highly recommended to us but I will not recommend it to anyone.
This is a little out of the way place in wine country. The decor is cool with a country cabin vibe. They have a decent sized menu, with all of the common breakfast food, although I was surprised at the prices. Considering if you order an omlette, other than toast. that is litterly all you get. Almost anywhere I have been, some sort of potatoes come with an omlette. The omlette I got had onion, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, sausage, & ham. All of their omlettes are made with 2 eggs. So, to reiterate, the prices are high for what you get. Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed with this place. And would NOT recommend a visit unless there was nowhere else close to where you were going. One odd thing I would like to add, its the bathrooms. They are located down the hall in back of the restaurant. The light for the bathrooms is located down the hall outside of the bathroom. You would think they would put a sign on the door telling you where the light switch is at. But I ended up using my phone for light. It wasn't till I was done and coming back done the hall, did staff member tell me about the light switch.
I hear they have good food. Unfortunately we went on a Saturday at the transition of breakfast to lunch. We were served coffee, then basically ignored for over a half hour while they prepared for lunch- changing the specials on the chalkboard etc. We left money for the coffee and walked out.
Food was ok-ish. We sat for about 10/15 mins before we had to get our waitresses attention. Didn’t take long for the food to come out, as we were sitting there eating, at 1:05, our waitress started turning people away, telling them that they didn’t have enough time because they closed at two. Every time she walked back into the kitchen she was complaining about the fact that people kept coming in. Because they “just don’t stop”. I’m my opinion, it’s extremely unprofessional to turn people away, because as Kelly put it, “she wants to get out of there”.
Unfortunate experience today. Ordered fries with my sandwich, came without.asked for them but never got. Billed for them. When told no apology for never getting or being billed. After the bill was corrected she still over charged us by a buck. Foods good.
Had a burger and some fries that were pretty good but everything else was terrible. Sat right at the bar and the service was still abysmal despite being right in front of the service staff. After I asked for my check a 2nd time, I heard the head waitress say 'she didn't have time for my check' because she was apparently too busy flirting with the cop also at the bar. After the younger waitress rewrote my check, two $7 burgers and two $2.50 fries and 2 sodas somehow wound up being $27 total. I give 2 stars instead of 1 simply because the food was good and I can't hate on the kitchen staff. I will not be returning here.
Came here because of the great reviews, but I forgot that Upstate/Southern Tier has notoriously low standards for food... There just aren't enough decent options around here so some places get great reviews because there's no where else to go... The eggs were fine—you can't really mess up eggs—the coffee tasted burnt, the home fries were unseasoned and bland, and the corned beef hash tasted straight from a tin. The homemade wheat toast, though, was surprisingly delicious! I ate about half my plate and then left. I hate wasting food, but I couldn't stomach another bite. Place was packed, so maybe I just had a bad experience... Then again, if you're the only restaurant around, where else are folks gonna go? Oh, and double-check the prices before ordering—one egg instead of two is $3 dollars cheaper, depending on the plate, and an egg on the side is only $1.50, so you're better off ordering a one-egg plate with another egg on the side. Sever didn't seem to like me ordering like that, but oh well!
We drove all the way from Watkins Glen to eat at this specific restaurant. We waited a long time to get menus, then didn't get silverware until the meal started. They brought out our son's food and said ours would be right out, but we didn't get ours until after our son was done eating his. We ordered ground steak, medium well, and got our order cooked well done. We did not have a pleasant experience and would not recommend this place to anyone who wants a good meal.
The fries were burnt and the waitress walked away from me when I asked for fresh. I didn't ask with an attitude! I tried to be very polite about it. When she brought the fries, I tried to apologize again, she said, "I said it's fine." And walked away. Unfortunately, overall, our experience was not a great one.
Went there today for breakfast. I was very disappointed. My eggs were ok but the home fries were cold. My corn beef hash didn't even seem cooked. And my coffee was never refilled. My buddy had a omelet and it looked raw. I didn't ask him how it was though.
Do not get the fish 😒 was just looking for a quick bite while in the area hiking. Saw tons of people in the morning there so decided to stop in for late lunch. Not what we expected on the inside. Bar area was the only spot open to eat, the regular dining area was closed off. The bar area has a dark dirty atmosphere, very different from the rest of the restaurant. The fish and chips was disgusting, burnt geasy hockey pucks with very little fish and a ton of greasy breaded coating. Cousin loved the macaroni salad tho. Ladies were nice, just not attentive to customers. I wouldn't be back
"We're out of bacon". If they said it to us all the time. We came to believe that it was on purpose. It's their business, they know better. But in the Biden/Harris Economy things are worse. We quit going there because they kept cheating us out of bacon on our breakfast. Neither my son nor I will go there anymore. He's from Trumansburg. Congradulations, managment, you saved $ but now you make a higher margin multiplied by a factor of zero because we won't go there for breakfast anymore.
I just had lunch at this place about an hour ago. The food wasn’t good. My service was really bad. I asked for an ice water with coffee to start, they brought me the tiniest glass of water. Every other table has normal sized glasses. After I ordered no one ever came back to check to refill my coffee until I got my food. It took 45 minutes for me to even get a burger and fries. On top of that they charged me 2x for the coffee and an extra for the fries. Never again.
Terrible customer service by a couple of waitresses. If you show up 30 minutes before they close, they'll give you an attitude. The nasty wide waitress came over last Sunday and just looked at me with a scowl.. Screwed up my order royally and I had to send it all back. I knew she wasn't listening and then the head waitress came over after and defended her. Effectively teaching her entire wait staff that when you act rudely, disrespectful, incompetent, and unprofessional, it's the customer's fault.
