Great place. The food was amazing. The burgers are thick and juicy. The ice cream is more than enough and plenty of flavors to choose from. If you're in the area, be sure to stop. It's worth it!
This is literally my favorite ice cream place. I will sometimes drive an hour to get here. They have a rotating menu a very interesting ice cream flavors. Everything is made on site and the quality shows. Sometimes during events you can get a tour if you sign up for it ahead of time.
Exquisite homemade ice cream with an excellent variety of flavors. The place may be hidden in the far back of the DeWitt Mall, but it is definitely one of Ithaca's hidden treasures.
With all of the creameries in the area, there is some great ice cream in the Finger Lakes/ Ithaca area. This place is my favorite. Best ice cream, friendly service, and a train for the kids to play on. Oh, and chocolate dipped waffle cones are a must!
Great place for food and ice cream! It's about 35 miles away from home but we go there because it's so good. Lots of flavors and has 3 different places to sit down and enjoy it.
Fun little stop on NY-89! Try not to screech your brakes too much when you suddenly come upon this while you're tool down the road at 65-70 MPH. The ice cream here is delicious. It might be blasphemy for someone living in Ithaca, but I think it's better than Purity by a mile. Their flavors are a lot more inventive and interesting as well. I've tried quite a few of them and even ones that sound weird end up being good! Two scoops is a LOT of ice cream so beware when you order. The staff is also very nice. It can be challenging to get friendly seasonal staff but they do a good job.
Super great! I think I got the Bourbon flavor, so unique and delicious! Never had anything like it. Family loved what they got too! So great to find a delicious ice cream place while on vacation for ice cream snobs like me 😅
Awesome little ice cream place a little off the beaten path! What they consider 2 scoops is really about 4-5 normal size scoops so the value is there. Wife enjoyed Pink Elephant, which is red raspberry with chocolate chunks. I devoured my Maple Bacon. An insane amount of bacon in it. Highly recommend making the trip!!!
Nice place, takes CC because hand made ice cream is not cheap. Right near our Finger Lakes rental. Is open after 5pm. My little grandson's single cone was huge, put it into a cup.
The homemade ice cream is absolutely delicious here. I also enjoy the custard, when it is available. Although it is very good, it is quite expensive. Two waffle cones typically comes to $15 for us.
Tip:Tiny parking lot in the front but there is more parking down and in the rear. As per every business during covid not a lot of staff so there may be a delay ordering/serving. Big selection of ice cream flavours. Prices a tad high but the taste is better than store bought ice cream.
Went twice in 2 days. Super creamy. They have the regulars but also some fun flavors. Waffle cones were fresh and crisp. Best ice cream in the Ithaca area.
Flew into NY from Seattle for a wedding and had the pleasure of filling my belly with local flavors of the region. Highly recommend the peanut butter fudge as well as the Seneca salt caramel. We had an all you can eat ice cream bar cream at the venue and I was totally satisfied after four scoops (I can usually eat a lot more ice cream than that). Well done guys!
Delicious ice cream. Nice little shop... Apparently we were pretty lucky - we drove 30 minutes from Ithaca because their website and Google said they were open. Turns out they were open, but "by chance"... In the winter they don't keep a regular staff and only open when a manager can staff it. So call ahead in the winter!
Fabulous house made ice cream, waffle cones, sorbet in a variety of flavors both traditional and adventurous. Try the wine sorbets! There's indoor and outdoor seating available and a playground for the kids. Lots of helpful tourist information inside and maps outside. We went on a Saturday night about a half hour before closing and the service was a little off. The softserveu dip was a drizzle of sauce not a dip at all and the Spanish nuts were stale enough to make it worth scraping them all off before eating. All in all, still definitely a five star ice cream spot!
Huge scoops of hard ice cream or soft custard in so many flavors that it's hard to choose as well as sundaes, "ice cream" pizzas and special desserts are available either inside with seating area or else outside at a walk up window. The shop also offers a variety of burgers, etc, as well as specialty teas. Don't miss stopping at this unique spot!
(I’ve only been here once, so take this review with a grain of salt.) I would recommend this place to anyone who lives in the area and to anyone who is going to the area. The service was great. The workers were always upbeat and helpful. It also was not a long wait at all. I ordered a slice of Reece’s Pieces pie, and it was amazing! Like I said before, I would definitely recommend this to people in the area.
Custard instead of the same old soft serve - excellent!!! I'll be here a lot now that I've discovered this gem!
So many flavors and homemade cones. Very pleasant and accommodating staff with an outside deck or tables on a lower lawn area to enjoy the seasons best ice cream.
Couldn't find parking at the nearby state park? And tired of driving around with no luck? Don't worry about all that, just make a stop by Cayuga Lake Creamery and get anything on their menu. All ice cream are freshly made and honestly it's extremely creamy. I claim myself as a lactose intolerate kind of a person and I don't have any reactions to it which is a personal bonus! Go come swing by and give this place a try, you won't regret it 😉
This is our favorite place to go to for an ice cream treat and we live in Ithaca. It's a bit of a drive, but it's a nice place to relax. Their outside seating is pretty nice and their ice cream is top notch. It is a little pricey.
Stopped on an August Saturday, place was busy but we were quickly served. The server offered us small samples of the ice cream that we were curious about. Nice way to help you decide. Some really good tasting ice cream.
This was a gem of a Creamery, tucked away on the side of the road alongside Cayuga Lake, as you're headed towards Ithaca from Seneca Falls. Wonderful product, they serve both hard and soft serve ice cream, and their portions are more than generous! The choice I made was the Lavender - it was a satisfying blend of sweet cream base, with the herbal notes of lavender. Not too sweet, none too floral, and not colored purple like many other variants out there. They also have a pretty wide selection of food options to choose from!
Great ice cream! It was crowded the day we went but the service was still quick. They have a nice shaded area down the hill where you can enjoy the ice cream. They also serve food.
Rich, creamy flavors that you won't find elsewhere, ample seating and parking (there's a second lot down a little hill), and a bathroom inside with more tables. Scoops are average size so can can order up and try another flavor for an additional $1 a scoop. The website lists current flavors, but they did not match what was currently offered so I was a little disappointed the one I was looking forward to wasn't actually there
My wife and I got married in Ithaca in July 2022, and we wanted to have a fun late night snack option for our summer wedding. We reached out to Cayuga Creamery and Renee was so helpful in setting up a “taste test” and walking us through options to have them serve ice cream at our wedding. The ice cream was delicious, and it was a no-brainer! Renee was super helpful to work with, and the ice cream cart was such a hit! All of our guests kept raving about it all night, and we were so grateful to Cayuga Creamery for being so amazing in helping us create an unforgettable experience. If you are looking for ice cream for a wedding or special event, we can’t recommend Cayuga Creamery enough!
Best ice cream in the finger lakes area. Wide assortment of flavors and the quality is unmatched. The ice cream is very fluffy and rich. The waffle cones are handmade right when you order. Be careful about how many scoops you get because they’re snowball sized!
They have a large menu that identifies ice cream they offer with dots that identifies gluten-free options. It is very helpful! They also have a list of toppings that are gluten-free. Having both lists is amazing!! The ice cream is creamy and delicious! Next time we’re in the area, we’ll stop in! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Cayuga Creamery is amazing! Their ice cream is out of this world! I love the variety of flavors they have. I ordered one of their homemade waffle cones and it might be the best one I've had. I could really taste the waffle flavor. Cayuga Creamery is about 30 miles from my home, but I try to make it out there a few times each summer.
The ice cream was delicious. And they have a clear and safe allergy friendly protocol
Really great ice cream and custard. They let you sample and are very friendly. Key lime ice cream was refreshing on a hot summer day. From my experience get lunch or drinks elsewhere and come here for a sweet treat! Super dog and kid friendly. A decent amount of parking for a busy place. The pull off comes fast.
I stopped for ice cream. I had the very freshly made one scoop of coffee cream. Small but enjoyable place. There is seating outside and inside.
I'm a lover of ice cream, but this place blew my socks off. Hands down best soft serve (custard soft serve!) I've ever had. Home made ice cream and waffles also amazing! Prices are high, but yet, totally worth it for an amazing ice cream experience.
Delicious ice cream. Fast, friendly service. Very reasonable prices.
Tasty ice cream and added bonus for me was the availability of a gluten free cone.
Fantastic ice cream! Every time I have gone, the ice cream has been fresh, creamy, and delicious. The service is great, they are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. It is a bit small inside, but they have great outdoor seating during the warmer months. Very cute and quaint little place! Highly recommend!
Great ice cream selection, friendly staff. Small lot right off the road. Easy to pass if you aren't paying attention. The only complaint is that single serve prices are high compared to buying a pint or quart. Def way more bang for your buck buying a larger size. Would go back if I'm in the area!
The best ice cream with the kindest staff. I stop every time I am out that way.
Typical ice cream shop from the inside-out as far as appearances are concerned, but the quality of the ice cream and service were great. The mocha chocolate chunk may have been a little chilly for my husband's liking, but I loved the Cayuga salted caramel just fine. The size of a single scoop? Pretty fair for the price too. If I'm ever out here again, if I should ever pass up a scoop for any reason, I'll have you know this place absolutely tempted the heck out of me to say the least.
We arrived just after they opened so there was no line. The variety of flavors were great. I ordered the coconut ice cream, it was filled with tons of coconut flakes. Our group also tried the brownie sundae, we highly recommend it.
Excellent I've cream, they make their own on site. Only regret is that they are far enough away that it's not easy to return
This place came recommended by a friend. The menu items available on the website didn't match what was available upon arrival but this ended up working out in our favor. Our two favorite flavors (pistachio and rum raisin) ended up being available as limited time specials. This was the first time we've seen both original and golden raisins in rum raisin which was a nice variation.
Great ice cream! Perfect road side stop for food and ice cream. I got a delicious BLT and it was the perfect way to end the day.
Great selection of homemade ice creams. Loved the Pumpkin Cheesecake as well as the Coffee & Oreo! We made more than 1 visit here on our getaway weekend.
Lovely selection of hard ice creams, cones, and soft serve. Really enjoyed my mocha chocolate chunk in a sprinkle waffle cone.
Best ice cream I ever did have. Food is also bomb. I get the buffalo chicken sandwich every time I’m about to make a road trip! This is where it’s at. #1 best ice cream and ice cream eating-environment in all of Tburg area and also the world.
I’ve been coming here for over a decade at this point and I love the ice cream. Always brings back memories when I’m in the area and they have a great selection to choose from. They have seating indoors which is open occasionally and a few tables outside. Would recommend if you’re driving by because it’s a great treat!
Cayuga Lake Creamery was a great ice cream stop. They have a large selection of homemade ice cream and they have hard, soft, custard and sundaes to choose from. They also have some savory food options if you're interested in that. The ice cream was great, my wife enjoyed the cake batter and her waffle cone and I got the Reese's pieces sundae which was incredible! I got the small and it was way more than enough. Only go large if you haven't had food in 24 hours. The place was busy but we really had no wait at all. The team was working fast back there. Prices are average for ice cream nowadays and I thought portions were appropriate. They have an inside and outside eating area attached to the creamery and there is more outside down the hill where there is extra parking as well. It's nothing special inside but for an overly hot day nice to have. The outside down the hill provides shade so that is nice as well. Either way a great stop for ice cream if you are in the area. Enjoy!
Cayuga Lake Creamery was one of our vendors at my wedding this past July and it was definitely one of the highlights of our day! We opted for a full sundae station so people could choose flavors and customize what they wanted. The owners were wonderful to work with and made everything so easy and straightforward even when we wanted to change up the flavors. On the night of our wedding, I went for the Sea Salt Caramel and it was some of the most satisfyingly creamy and delicious ice cream I have ever had! My dad used to take me to their Interlaken location so it also had the nostalgia factor but somehow it tasted even better than I remembered. People were raving about it! My husband and I stayed in Ithaca the week after and made a point to go to their location in the Dewitt Mall as well and it was well worth it. Cayuga Lake Creamery is some of the best ice cream around!
Decent variety of flavors. Hours of operation change unexpectedly. Service is slow and often poor, as in you might need to open the service window and call out to get someone's attention to get served. Or, if you and a friend order at the same time, your order might come out in some strange mashup and you will have to ask to have it remade. It is a nice thing to have in such a small town.
Been here twice in two days. First for ice cream, which was delicious but overpriced for the quantity ($5 for one scoop). Second day was for sandwiches, which were a better value for ok tasting pulled pork and good fries.
We stopped by after kayaking in the cayuga lake. The ice cream was a good reward, we tried the purple cow, red raspberrie, oatmeal cookie and chocolate... All delicious, our favorite was the oatmeal one, was a lovely surprise. Very friendly staff, good quality ice cream and homemade waffles cones!
I didn't actually have any ice cream, but the kids did not have any complaints about the flavor. I am only giving 4 stars because it took about 20 minutes to get the ice cream after the order was placed.
Ice cream is extra sweet. Some tasty food options like sweet potato fries. Pond by the little play area stinks. Credit machine was down but otherwise not usually a cash only place. Had many flavors, even gluten free choices. Good family stop along wine trail.
Creamy homemade ice cream, worth the stop - AND their menu marks gluten-free flavors with a blue dot, AND they have GF cones! Much appreciated.
This are a generally great place with many flavors of ice cream, and inexpensive simple food. I sometimes find their ice cream a little too sweet, but that is a matter of opinion.
Excellent homemade ice cream! The vanilla fudge was amazing! It had thick, chocolatey ribbons of fudge swirled in with a very smooth and creamy vanilla. My son had the strawberry and said it was ssssoooo good!
This place was tiny inside but the ice cream was really good! I had homemade butter pecan in a homemade waffle cone. The waffle cone was really tasty. They had many flavors to choose from, it was very hard to pick. I can't wait to go back and try another flavor soon!
Their ice creams are good for sure but their freshly made waffle cones are the best! Worth the drive! Bummer that they ran out of nuts (chocolate nut waffle) when I visited last, but a plain waffle cone or a chocolate cone is also just perfect. Make note: they have soft serve custard - which is amazing !!! Doesn't sound all that appetizing but totally great.
Great ice cream and wonderful flavor selection. I think it is a bit hard for them to hear you when you order, so be sure and articulate orders clearly and help kids. A little on the spendy side, but worth the stop. Great little shady picnic spot just below with a fun wooden train and pond.
I’ve been coming to this place on vacation since I was a kid. We used to go every night during our week long lake trip. It’s always had a very nostalgic place in my heart. Coming back after many years was unfortunately not what I remembered. To start off it was extremely expensive. It was $17 for my husband and I to get two single scoops in a cone. Which is bad enough, but then the gave us the wrong waffle cone without sprinkles (which we paid $2 for) They did fix it however it seems like they are struggling with distracted/unmotivated staff.
Brought my 3 childrens for Father's Day this year. We've gotten ice cream here many times before, but this time we got burgers (one order of fries) a vanilla shake, and then waffle cones (for those of us who didn't get a shake). The burgers were tasty, and personally I love the home-churned ice cream, but the price! is what keeps CLC from getting that 5th star. Definitely five star service and cleanliness though.
The size is crazy! I wouldn't expect kiddie size to be this huge. But well, considering its price ($5.62), I guess it makes sense! This "no doze," coffee with expresso-coated chocolate bits flavour was great! It was unsurprisingly a little too sweet for my liking. But the expresso-coated chocolate bits were so good. They add interesting texture to the ice-cream. The waffle cone was delicious too. Services is okay but they don't allow dogs inside. We could sit outside today because it wasn't too cold. But if you come here on a really cold day (which are coming soon), you probably want to keep you dog in the car.
The ice cream itself is delicious! However, the staff are not the friendliest. And while I did not have a group, a sign saying a 15% gratuity will be added to groups is absolutely ridiculous for merely handing you food/ice cream through a window. Also, posting political opinions in front of your business is entirely off-putting.
I'm not sure whether they were unprepared for the demand of the day I visited, but they were out of many things including napkins. I had the mint chocolate chunk in a dish. Even the kiddie size was too much for one person. Friendly service. There's a small dining area. They had some sandwiches and hot dogs, as well. I will probably head back to try those. They also appear to do a lot of local fundraising work.
Great environment and cute shop, but I personally didn’t think the ice cream was worth the cost based on the flavors we tried. With a tip, 2 one scoop dishes was $15. (We tried salted caramel and pistachio. Pistachio was rather bland and both seem like they could use a bit of salt, actually. There was a family sitting near us that purchased the same flavors and agreed w/the above sentiments.)
Seemed to fulfill its' role as an ice-cream shop also offering food. I was not overwhelmed by its' ice creamy and other dessert offerings. Ice cream selections were adequate (avoided partaking in the dessert selections) BUT did notice some of the less robust items were overpriced (ice cream float) so their pricing seemed particularly out of whack alongside the recent inflationary pricing of the normal/adequate items. The food hit the mark all right (besides the nagging similarity to frozen, preformed beef patties) while the accompanying fries were a picture of what is usually served up in a school cafeteria. In all, the menu was smaller but did make a stab at variety with what seemed to be daily specials. Incidemtals - indoor dining was limited, though there is the outdoor, lake adjacent appeal. The 1 bright spot was a particular female employee who shone with an authentic, "giggly" disposition that was contagious despite our limited interaction. Otherwise service was handled by 4 local "yutes". The two young men and there counterparts, two young women, seemed a larger staff than necessary. I was also slightly disconcerted when, apparently having little to do, they convened together and out of site of the dining room. So the visit ended, feeling a little deserted I slipped the confines of the indoor space further limited by the single occupancy restroom which would put stress on the snug interior anytime more than a single patron decided to avail themselves of refreshment. Outside again and enjoying the generous outside space offered for its' primary business of quick stops by travelers in need of a tasty, regnerative treat/snack. Some confusion as to whether the orders were made available at the counter Or delivered to table by staff.
Was back this summer. Only half the flavors of last year were available. They didn’t have the pistachio or butter pecan. Prices high. Quality ice cream but not worth the drive anymore
Ice cream was excellent. Waffle cone was good. The only thing I did not like was the price. For a regular size ice cream I paid 6 dollars. If I knew the price beforehand I would not have bought it. Their was no price on the icecream. I enjoy a good product but not getting ripped off. Probably will not go again due to prices.
First time visit today! Service was pretty slow but it was a bit busy. We had a bit of sticker shock initially with the price, a single scoop is over $6. We ended up ordering 3 scoops because the price made more sense that way, and they let us get 3 different flavours. They put the 3 scoops in a cup that could hardly hold 2, and it made it difficult to eat as it was already quite melted when they handed it to us. We sat in the outdoor seating and the tables look like they haven't been cleaned in ages, covered in mud, food, and debris. The ice cream was delicious, but the overall experience wasn't great
Expectations were high given this establishment was voted one of the 50 best in the US. The ice cream rivaled super market quality.
The service itself was fine, the staff were welcoming and friendly but the prices and quality left much to be desired- $8.25 for a single scoop of blueberry cheesecake ice cream that had zero blueberry flavor in a rubbery, stale waffle cone. Very disappointing.
It really wasn't that busy there when we visited and it took forever to get our orders. I felt they had enough staff on, but they didn't seem to be well organized and they really needed an adult supervisor. The food was okay, but the ice cream selections were pretty good and the ice cream was alright. What really ticked me and my wife off was the fact that we were at the order window outside and about a half dozen or more people went inside to order. We were obviously waiting our turn before they arrived and then one of the staff turned to us at the window and asked us to come inside and order. That would have been fine, but instead on waiting on us first, the staff preceded too take the orders of the other patrons ahead of us. That was not cool. We almost decided to leave, but we waited the extra time to try some of the specialty flavors, which were a little disappointing.
The lavender ice cream was good but the prices are crazy, the female employee was extremely rude. She kept getting my order wrong and getting mad that I wanted it right. When ya pay that much for an ice cream and she keeps trying to give ya someone else’s order it gets a little irritating. I was standing at the window she would hold a cone out that was someone else’s so now I have a stranger walking up over my ice cream order grabbing there’s. There’s a giant hole in the opening of the driveway so if you have a small car watch out. Like I said ice cream was good but prices and employees need some work.
Ice cream was delicious, the service on the other hand could use some improvements. Not the friendliest group of people working there. I understand it's July 4th weekend and it is extremely busy, but it doesn't mean you have to be rude and unfriendly to those waiting for their ice cream. Made my family and I feel like we were a bother. Might need to work on customer service.
Stopped in last Sunday on our way back home. The ice cream was good, the people were friendly, but the value was low. I paid $7+ for a sundae that was equivalent to a 2 tablespoon size, rather than a 2 scooper. I don't believe I will be stopping back any time soon.
We arrived shortly before closing. We ordered two waffle cones that had been dipped in a little chocolate, both cones were 2 scoops of ice cream. The total for the two cones came to an over $22. Way over priced and although I would like to support a local business, that is just too much to pay for two cones and I won’t go there again.
We stopped here to get ice cream on our way back from Toughanock Falls and we were very disappointed to say the least. We've been here a handful of times and we will not be back! My husband and I did not get what we ordered twice! and when we finally got the attention of an employee there was no apology given or an "I'm sorry". By the time we did get what we ordered my kids were done eating their ice cream so we weren't even able to enjoy the experience as a family. There were no adults supervising all the kids . Very unorganized. Poor customer service and over priced as well. The ice cream didn't even taste good like in years past.
Maybe we hit it at a bad time, but it was not a positive experience. First they got our lunch order wrong, they only gave us one burger when we clearly ordered two. Then my daughter and I each ordered a dish of ice cream and they gave me mine and left her standing there for 10 min. or more while other people were getting served. When I asked if they forgot, they said it's coming. She continued to wait and heard one of the workers tell another customer who ordered the same thing she did, that they were out of it. So she had to ask them about it again and they finally said oh we are out of it. By then we were so exasperated by the whole experience that we just got a refund for her ice cream and left. No one ever apologized for either mistake and they acted put out by us!! Our quick stop for a bite to eat turned into a big time waster. Positive: The one bowl of ice cream we did get was tasty.
Not sure how this has so many good reviews. The ice cream sundae has no flavor to it, the service was SO slow, and the workers weren’t very nice. One customer was complaining that their food took 40 minutes to get. Overall, Dairy Queen tastes better.
Maybe because I'm Canadian and not used to very sweet ice cream. But none of my kids could finish it. It's sickely sweet. It's horrendous. Yet I was in Ithaca and had purity ice cream and other creameries and no problem. We took white gold and another flavor I can't remember. It's just so sweet you barely taste the flavours. All I can taste was the sugar. And the prices. I understand it's a family owned and it's completely out of the way but for 2 small almost 10$! Come on!
I used to love this place but just had a really bad experience. Not only have the prices gotten super high, but they got one of our sundae orders completely wrong. When I told them it was not what we ordered, the young lady working walked over to grab our ticket to prove to me she gave me to correct order. The person taking our order put the wrong item in the computer. Therefore, even though it was NOT correct, the ticket did not reflect that. She did not offer to correct the order. Just reiterated that what we were given matched what we ordered according to the receipt. The sundae was for my spouse, who didn’t want to cause a fuss, so they just took it and ate it…. But not much because it wasn’t good. Also, they completely forgot my son’s order and I had to ask for it to be made and wait for them to check the receipt again. Fortunately, that was on the receipt. We paid roughly $65 for our ice cream and tipped 20% in advance so about $80 on this experience. Not happy with what we got for that much money.
Their ice cream is pretty good. But their staffing is inconsistent. On Wednesday evening 7/23/25 we checked the website and it said they were open to 9pm. So we drove up there, arrived just after 8:30, but well before 9 we thought. The person in the store refused to serve us, said that they had everything cleaned up and put away. This behavior is, at the least, offensive. This is not my idea of good business practice. We will not be going back there at any time of the day or evening.
