My girlfriend and I are celebrating our birthdays. We were in the mood for a martini. This spot had great vibes and the drinks were delicious. I highly recommend it if you are a martini lover.
Omg this place is so chaotic and fun and the martinis are outstanding!!! We got super lucky and it didn’t take long at all for us to get a four top but it is BUSY so definitely plan to stand. It’s also loud but for some reason that adds to the charm here. I live in Logan but will absolutely be making the trek back up north to experience this perfect Chicago bar again soon!!
Great spot with a fun, youthful energy. Love seeing the straights and the gays coexisting peacefully over martinis 🤝🍸 The bartenders have always been super friendly in my experience, which makes the whole place feel even better. Only tiny gripe: it’s a tighttt space, so navigating a full martini or snagging a table on busy nights can feel like an Olympic sport. But once that patio opens for warmer weather? Game over. Welcome back, Marty’s 💖
Whoa. I might not have had enough food prior to showing up, but the two martinis were delicious and very much contributed to a lovely night of conversation and fun.
The new Marty’s location and space does not disappoint. They took longer than anyone expected to open the new location, but for good reason. The new space is a amazing, warm, cozy, the holiday decorations are probably the best in the neighborhood! There are more tables, and cozy corners to sit in and enjoy your martinis. They kept the various size options as the prior location had with the same Marty Classics. Well done 2Bears to maintaining the Marty’s charm and atmosphere!
Went to Marty’s Martini Bar on Friday to check out the new location after their reopening last Thursday, and it was great. The new space feels comfortable and inviting, and the vibe is still very much “Marty’s.” The staff were friendly, the service was quick, and the martinis were excellent. Really glad they’re back.
The best martinis in Chicago. Each large has 10 shots of alcohol. The dirty Bird is amazing. So is the hazelnut. Be prepared to walk in the neighborhood for dinner. 2024- First time since COVID lockdown. James was a great server and bartender. We told him he would make a great Emcee in Cabaret. Birthday Dirty Birds. Yum.
Tight squeeze/definitely an intimate space but a blast. Great martinis, decor is perfect for a cocktail bar, and quick service. Definitely a great spot for a drink to start the night, pit stop or night cap alike. I’m excited to come back in the summer and check out their patio space too!
The space is bigger than the old one, so it's easier to get around. The music was kind of loud when we first got there, so everyone was shouting. They eventually turned it down. The outdoor space out front isn't open yet, but it looks pretty big.
Marty's is always a great time. Though you have to be very patient as your drinks are being made - they're complicated concoctions- it's worth it. The upside down 🍍 was inve time and not too sweet. Cool outdoor patio but you have to be lucky - or early - to get a spot. Pacing is vital here.
More like Marty’s MEH Martini Bar. Honest review- cozy setting, lousy martinis. I love a good classic martini and I had to return both my martini and my date’s French 75. Both were undrinkable. Worst martini experience I’ve had. Honestly. It’s a cute spot. Beautifully decorated. It’s a Paris inspired decor but the music was weird and didn’t fit the vibe. Marty’s looks like it should deliver and it’s a huge no for me. If you like a good martini, like me, youI’ll be disappointed. A glass of wine or a simple pour of something right out of the bottle is more the way to go here. Meh is the best I can do for here. I would not recommend this. There are way too many places that are better for your money and your experience. P.S. it’s a nice looking bar that serves only low end/bottom shelf alcohol.
Went last night for the first time since Marty’s reopened. The new space is a nice nod to the original Marty’s, but with more space to move around. But waiting 45 minutes in a line to get a mediocre martini is not going to go over well for long. My table had 1 martini and wanted another, but we refused to wait in line again so we went elsewhere. At the previous Marty’s you never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a drink. The bar tender also wasn’t super friendly and the entire bar staff was overwhelmed. I’ll give some grace since they just opened and will try to go back in a few weeks once the initial craziness dies down some. It was also extremely loud inside and was hard to have a conversation with anyone.
Love the vibe of the setting, but terribly impersonal staff. Even if you’re sitting at the bar you have to get up and walk to the service bar to wait in line to get a drink— this was told to us by the staff, one of whom had “reserved” two prominent seats at the bar on a busy Friday night. If that’s the case, maybe don’t call yourself a martini bar- that term implies more than the glass you serve, it’s a certain level of decorum one would hope. But no prob, I hear there are a few others in Andersonville to check out!
I really wanted to love the new location as much as the previous one. Unfortunately, the martinis just don’t taste the same. Since it was packed and busy, the bartender skipped the crème on the funky monkey and didn’t rim the glass for the French 75, which made a noticeable difference. I’ll give it another try, maybe during a less busy time.
Waited in line for a disappointing experience What I got from the first bartender and then from the next wasn’t the same drink. Paying that much for a martini should at least be consistent I love a good martini and happy to pay for it. I don’t love an overpriced bad experience by un professional poorly trained staff
Gave it another try, hoping for less loud music and a bit more elbow room, so tried on a Tuesday. A little more space which is nice, same great drinks, and was nice and conversational. Until 8pm when a new bartender was added, and the music switched from background atmosphere to loud dance town. But everyone just starts shouting to be heard so I guess it works. Not a place for a nice quiet chat with friends, but a great place to let out your outside voice inside. As always, the staff is great.
