On the hunt for some local bomb drunken noodles since my favorite place, Sky Thai, closed down near Exchange. My ideal drunken noodle has good, high spice levels, Chinese broccoli, Thai basil, bell peppers, and onion, and a nice dark sheen from a good sauce. This place does it a bit differently but still oh so good. The heat levels are just right; the sauce a little paler though. The vegetables they add are carrots, tomatoes, Thai basil (but I wish there was more), regular broccoli, bell peppers, and onions. Personally, I wish it had my veggie combo preference but everything is cooked so well they absorb all the sauce and every vegetable is delicious. The noodles themselves are perfectly cooked and chewy every bite. The only thing that got to me was the price, I wish it was a little cheaper than $17 for a plate. But for a new local place to beat all other competitors in the area, I’m not complaining about a new great addition to my neighborhood.
Welcome to the neighborhood with your fabulous Thai goodnissss! I took a chance on this new spot & got spring rolls, golden wings, and crispy duck. Freshly made, wonderful spices, great sauces. Friendly service. Not too much seating, but the food packed up nice and was still warm when I got home. Being so close to transportation makes it an easy tasty choice.
Wonderful Thai food! Legitimate flavors, friendly and accommodating staff. Simple but great menu. Plates are shareable and they also offer some expected drinks like Thai iced tea. Only about 12 people can sit inside across 3 sets of tables. It seems most take out but you can definitely dine in as we (four of us) did.
I’ve ordered each of the following. Everything was truly incredible and as other folks have said I’m SO glad to have a high-quality Thai spot in journal square. - Red Curry w/ salmon: so flavorful! Salmon was perfectly cooked - Green Curry w/ chicken: classic green curry, was delicious! - Pad Thai w/ chicken: classic flavor. I appreciate that they don’t make theirs too sweet - Drunken Noodles w/ chicken: LOVE when everything has that wok char! Always adds so much flavor and think this might be my favorite item! - Mango Sticky Rice: Appreciate that it’s mildly sweet. Perfectly simple Team is incredibly kind and welcoming! 10/10
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. All of our food was perfectly seasoned, sauced, and shockingly fresh for takeout. The larb and panang curry had the perfect amount of spice and the banana dessert is not something to sleep on. We thoroughly enjoyed our order and can't wait to try other items on the menu!
Hole in the wall, serving delicious Thai Food. It’s getting harder & harder finding decent Thai food in the DTJC neighborhood. I stumbled upon this place for take-out. It did not disappoint. The staff were friendly & willing to help. I loved the drunken noodles & the green curry.
No other Thai food place compares. Love the drunken noodle, the pad Thai, the golden wings, pineapple fried rice, papaya salad, and don't get me started on the the udon pad Thai and the crispy duck and chicken! 10/10 no notes. They have their housemade Thai chili oil and sweet chili sauce bottled and available for purchase, which I recommend you buy so you can have a little bit of Thai Plates with meals you cook at home. They've been our go-to for Thai food since they opened. Oh, and another tip: I also have their app and order from it, which you should download, too, because you get points and can eventually earn yourself a free dish! Just solid, great food, great owners, plus they do great things for the community.
Tasty food and really nice people. I’ve ordered from Thai Plates twice via their app. The second time, my order was cancelled, which was disappointing, but I tried again today because I was still craving Thai food :) The owner remembered, sent a really kind note, and even included drinks on the house. So thoughtful, thank you!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thai Plates on Sip Ave is hands down one of the best restaurants in Jersey City. The food is unbelievably good. Every dish comes out fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. You can taste the care that goes into the cooking. The Thai tea deserves its own mention. It is the perfect blend, smooth and refreshing, not too sweet and not too strong. It pairs so well with the food that I can’t imagine eating here without it. What I love most is that this is the kind of place where you feel confident trying anything on the menu because you know it will be excellent. The consistency is rare and makes them stand out. If you are in Jersey City and want real Thai food that makes you happy from the first bite to the last, this is the spot. Thai Plates is not just good, it is special.
This is the best and most authentic Thai food in the NYC area. The flavors are are so colorful, very fresh, not overcooked and the owner (I believe) is the most humble guy. Thank you to the whole Thai plates team!
Bold flavors and fresh ingredients make this Thai food a standout. The balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and savory is spot on, with fragrant herbs and rich coconut-based curries stealing the show. The Pad Thai is perfectly seasoned, and the Tom Yum soup delivers a satisfying kick. A great spot for an authentic and flavorful Thai meal!
What I would say is the best Thai food in Jersey City. The atmosphere is cozy and the playlist is always on point. Some fan favorites are the Pineapple fried rice, the mangy sticky rice, and the Green curry.
I had never eaten Thai food before and I was told to come here. At Thai Plate they serve some really good food. I tried a couple of dishes and I still want more. My first time trying Pad Thai w/ Beef was amazing, chewy noodle flavorful sauce and tender beef. The crispy salmon was excellent as well, crispy, flaky and a really good fried rice. They also have good curries that come as is or with a protein. Please do pass by this restaurant and give it a shot you won’t be disappointed.
A Hidden Gem Worth Every Bite! Thai Plates is truly a hole-in-the-wall treasure! The moment we walked in, we saw nonstop orders coming through, and now we understand why. Everything we tried was absolutely incredible. We ordered several dishes and two drinks for our family of four (including two toddlers), and even our “safe order” staples—crab rangoons and mango sticky rice—were next-level delicious. My husband had the crispy duck with green curry, and I went with the pad see ew with beef. We’ve actually been on a Thai food tour lately, trying spots all over NY, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and I have to say… Thai Plates easily gets a 10/10 for their pad see ew. The flavor was unreal—rich, balanced, and addictive. My kids ended up taking over my plate because they couldn’t get enough! My husband couldn’t stop commenting on how fresh and perfectly put together his dish was. Even the veggies were cooked exactly to his liking. I’m not a big curry person, but the crispy duck itself was fantastic. And the mango sticky rice… wow. We were already full, but we made room because it was that good. Not overly sweet, with the most delicious creamy topping. A perfect ending to an amazing meal. Thai Plates absolutely deserves all five stars. If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful, comforting Thai food, this is the spot. We’ll definitely be back!
Thai plates is a welcomed addition to Journal Square food offerings. I ordered for takeout and food was prepared quickly. The chicken green curry was very good. The pad thai was good but came with an unexpected barbecue flavor which is a nice twist to a classic dish. I will try the drunken noodles next time. You can dine in but it is mostly a takeout style restaurant
I just stopped in earlier today celebrating 6 months with my girlfriend. We got the curry chicken, drunken noodles with beef, a Thai tea and Mexican coke. To top it off we had to try your famous chili oil as well as the mango sticky rice!! Everything was delicious and we are definitely coming back again real soon. Thank you to the wonderful gentleman & staff at the front that was very helpful and made the experience so much better! Wish I can leave 10 stars instead of 5 lol!
A friend told us about a new Thai place that rivals anything else in JC so we had to try it and it definitely hit the mark ! The decor is simple but well thought out (cuteness overload) - it’ seems that it’s mainly a take away but dining in was special because the service from the owners was exceptional. We had the red curry shrimp, the duck and the pad Thai - nothing disappointed and you can taste the love they put into the food. I suggest everyone try Thai plates : ) you won’t be disappointed !
I just tried Thai Plates for dinner and wow, what a gem! The atmosphere is cozy and modern, with a welcoming vibe right when you walk in. The food was packed with flavor just the way I like. We started with the Thai iced tea, which is a must try! It was perfectly sweet and refreshing. For the main course, we went with the spicy Thai basil with egg, salmon rice, and the crispy chicken, which came with a side of rich Thai curry. The curry was perfectly creamy, and the salmon was cooked beautifully. Their sticky mango rice was also perfectt with just the right amount of sweetness. Highly recommended!!!! Must visit if you’re in the area and craving Thai food. Can’t wait to go back!
When i entered Thai Plates restaurant the 1st time, the entire atmosphere, vibe with upbeat music playing in the background grabbed my attention and i knew the authentic aroma from the kitchen was going to fulfill my cravings. Immediately, i went for the Drunken Noodles and the Golden Wings. These dishes tasted better than any Thai restaurants that I have tried in the neighborhood and I knew i would come back for some more. Eventually, I tried the Mango Sticky Rice which left me speechless! These meals met my expectations and I have yet to try many original and exquisite dishes from Thai Plates. I would definitely recommend Thai Plates for anyone craving for authentic Thai cuisine!
We had the Signature Udon, Pad Thai, Curry and Mango sticky rice for dessert. Signature Udon and Pad Thai was my favs, definitely recommend to try it. It was tasty, medium spicy, flavourful and warmly served. As well as good portions and great service. I can’t wait to try new items from the menu on my next visit.
This place is great! The food is consistently amazing considering that we've ordered two times already (both dine in and take out), and the taste and the presentation of the food is consistently great! Me and my coworkers have talked about how great this place is +they are very accommodating to their customers! I usually don't make the effort to leave any food reviews that me and my boyfriend went to, but it was worth the extra effort to make the review for this place. We will surely be coming back to this place again :D !!
Food tasted amazing! Very tasty Green Curry! Can not wait to try more dishes! The dish was a bit on smaller side!

Genuinely the best Thai takeout I've ever had. Complex powerful spicing and depth of flavor. Food arrived via delivery piping hot, and it always leaves me so satisfied. Don't hesitate just go or order in you're going to love it.
I got some crab Rangoon, they were so light and crispy and had a lot of filling. Mango sticky rice which I don’t know why I waited so long to try it but it was definitely delicious. And of course I had some pad Thai which also was absolutely delicious, I asked for extra sauce and lime, added chili oil and 🤤🤤🤤🤤
We have gotten delivery a few times from Thai plates, it is always so delicious! The pas see ew with beef is one of our absolute favorites, but everything we have tried has been great. Don’t skip the crab Rangoon or the pineapple fried rice! Also worth noting their packaging is very nice and travels well.

I like this place and happy we have a good Thai place in Jersey City. But I have a couple of pieces of feedback. I have so many $10 off coupons from you guys that I haven't been able to use because of issues in the app. Also you guys need to put an expiration date on the Thai tea. I bought a six pack and it went bad before I could finish it.
This review is specifically for their Signature Udon Special (chicken)! It’s a 10/10 dish. Really good flavors. It’s a bit spicy but a little lemon squeeze does the trick!
I tried Thai Plates recently. I work in the area, and was craving something spicy. I got Drunken Noodles with Tofu. I loved the noodles, it was delicious. It was ready by the time I picked it up. While the noodles were tasty, they could use a little bit more flavor in terms more sauce and heat. The crispy tofu was also good. I saw they had chili oil on the tables if you dine in. Next time, I will ask that on the side, so I can make it spicier to my taste. They have few tables to sit but it’s more like a take out place. Personally, I am fine with the prices but some of my co-workers find it tad bit on expensive side for lunch. Can’t wait to try more dishes.
this is a cute hole in the wall. the staff is nice and the place has a retro vibe. the large plates just seem like a normal portion. to me, “large” implies shareable, but it’s only enough for one person really. i got a small plate and two large plates to share, and this was the perfect amount of food between two people. the papaya salad was tasty and had a lot of layered flavors, but i found the bottom to be really salty. the drunken noodles were exactly what i was looking for. the spicy thai basil was a little spicy but that’s a good thing when it comes to thai. the egg was nicely cooked and runny when you cut it open. i enjoyed the flavors but found them to be a bit powerful. i wanted a thai iced tea as dessert but ending up getting it for my meal because i needed more balance overall. the mango sticky rice is good because it’s not too sweet and the coconut condensed milk added a layer of flavor that felt right. i enjoyed this spot but it gets a little noisy with all the banging around in the open kitchen at the end of the night. it’s still a nice place if you’re in the area though
Delicious drunken noodle with beef - nice char and good texture and a little kick. Good crispy duck and green curry too. Found it be a bit pricey though. Will come back for drunken noodle. Glad to have a good go to so close to JSQ and in JC. Atmosphere is clean and minimalist, good for a quick bite and go. Not quite a place to sit and linger as it can get smokey inside or cold if the door is propped open.

Order for the first time. My pick up online order was done before the time intended which was great. I order drunken noodles which were dish. Plenty of pork /veggies and very flavorful. I had order this same dish at other places and they had a a hint of sweetness that how I can only explain except this time I didn't get that from my drunken noodles. Other than that it was an amazing. My other dish was curry. Very aromatic with plenty of veggies and big pieces of crispy Tofu. I didn't get that green color curry i usually get from other places but it was so tasty. Highly recommend the place and will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Went for lunch ordered pad Thai and the udon special both with shrimp and the mango with sticky rice. Pad Thai was too liquidy and too sour in terms of flavor profile. There was a pop up shop going on inside the store on the day so there was only one spare table with two stools which is not enough for three people to sit on. The udon special was mediocre, nothing special, whilst the mango sticky rice was pretty good and the one redeeming part of the meal.
I love Thai food not only because of the affordable prices and the variety of flavors. Found myself in jersey city and decided to check out this spot. It's a nice cozy spot, interior not to big (can sit five groups of two.) ordering is simple, at the front but the wait time is a bit long (seems like mostly for deliveries) The food was ok, the basil rice didn't have much of the basil flavor but it hit the spot, the drunken noodles was a bit overly salted.
6.5 /10 Crispy Chicken w/ Curry Taste pretty decent but the crispy chicken didn't come with enough curry. Also the crispy chicken was kinda to tough/crunchy.
We tried Thai Plates in Jersey City and left a bit underwhelmed. We ordered the Drunken Noodles and the Signature Udon. The Drunken Noodles was pretty bland and lacked the bold flavors you’d expect from Thai cuisine. Portion sizes were also on the smaller side, especially considering the price point. The presentation was nice and the service was decent, but overall, the food was just okay.

I feel like the quality of the food has significantly declined since this place opened. The food seems greasy and lacks flavor. I ordered chicken pad thai and crispy chicken with fried rice and tossed 80% of the meals to the trash.
This place is a hit a miss sometimes. I’ve ordered here before and their drunken noodles were great. Sadly, second time around it had no flavor and no sauce to it whatsoever ever. Ordered it with a papaya salad which was way too spicy i couldn’t even bear to finish it.
