Southern Maid Donuts

I have lived in Katy my whole life so I have had a lot of experience with Southern Maid, and it has always been really good. I haven’t tried the donuts as I am more a kolache person, so I can say they legitimately have the best when compared to Shipley’s or any other smaller shop. Now on my visit to this store, my order was messed up (very simple mix up). Normally this is where most adults begin to rage, but I as I mentioned before the kolaches are so good I didn’t really care. Just make sure you keep an eye out on what they point at, and don’t just nod because you’re tired. I’ll be back!

Went in for a dozen glazed and they were out unfortunately, but I left with the most amazing old fashioned glazed donuts I've ever had! She even gave me an extra for free!

Clean, Fresh, Excellent location on 1463 by Wendy's, perfect if some in the family don't like donuts...As if! Best Old Fashioned I have tasted in town. Not stale like the one I tried by the Farmers Market. The advertised coffee drinks were out.

I grew up eating southern maid donuts at one of the original locations in Odessa, TX. This location doesn't even come close. I'm sad to say I'd rather drive further and get some from Shipleys. Also, their breakfast burritos are terrible.

They open at 5am , but I guess the owners don't know that. Came in at 5:15a and they basically said they didn't really have many donuts or cinnamon rolls, etc because they just opened ?? Well, then open at 5:30 or 6am.. don't advertise that you're open if you're not ready to serve customers at that time ..

I requested that they leave a few donuts out since we did not need a full dozen and just add a few donut holes since my daughter likes those. They refused to substitute and told me to just get glazed since they are the same as the donut holes. This surprised us since they generally just throw in a bag of donut holes for free since we spend so much money there. Maybe management has changed and customer service has become a lower priority.

I was trying to enjoy some donuts for a lil early morning snack but false advertising let me down . The store did not open at 5 let alone 30min after that so my time and energy was wasted

This was my first time trying this place and I regret it. I only tried it because Shipley's was closed. I ordered through DoorDash and I didn't receive any of the items I ordered. The order that I did receive felt like it had been in the refrigerator. The lady I spoke to about the order was rude and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I thought these donuts would semi remind me of home back home (New Orleans) where the glaze is flaking off with every bite but NO. Great service and great tastes. Edit: The place is under new management/ownership. The size and quality of the breakfast tacos really went down. The value is not what it used to be. I am sad since it used to be my favorite donut shop. They also added a 3% charge for any credit card transaction.

I would never go back here. Their selection was slim at best. Their donut holes lacked flavor. Their apple fritters were all fritter and no apple. They were the worst I've ever had. I would go and grab a pack of Hostess donuts at a convenience store before I ever come back to this place. The one star is due to the lady at the counter was nice, and the fact I cannot go lower than that.
