This has to be one of the best meals we’ve ever had. We enjoyed the prix-fixe Valentine’s Day dinner, and every part of the evening felt special and thoughtfully curated. What truly made the experience extraordinary was our server, Adrian who flawlessly made sure our wine glasses were always full and that we had the proper flatware for each course — an attention to detail that elevated the entire meal. Executive Chef Scott Maurer delivered an exceptional culinary experience. Every dish was beautifully presented, making us feel as though we were dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant. The food runners were equally impressive, ensuring each course arrived perfectly timed and seamlessly coordinated. From start to finish, the service, presentation, and atmosphere were outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Key West. Also the best place to see the Sunset.
Lovely restaurant. My wife took me here for my birthday when we were visiting Key West. The atmosphere was excellent, beautiful views of the bay. Unfortunately it was overcast so we didn't get a beautiful sunset, but this certainly wasn't the fault of the restaurant. The one thing that distracted from the atmosphere was the loud music coming from the adjacent boardwalk. We love live music (we were actually visiting Key West on a Sandy Beaches music cruise), but this was so loud it made conversation somewhat difficult. Not the restaurant's fault but it did detract from an otherwise fantastic atmosphere. Our server, Andrei, was excellent. He made great recommendations, was very attentive during the service, and was both friendly and professional. I ordered the plantain encrusted swordfish and Stacy ordered the crispy yellowtail (accompanied with coconut rice, maduros, and a cilantro sauce). Everything was delicious and well prepared. The swordfishwas a lottle "rare," but it is always better slightly undercooked than overcooked. For dessert we shared the chocolate trea leches which was fabulous. Overll it was an excellent birthday meal.
We had a great experience here. The sunset views are perfect, and it was fun to watch all the sunset boats come in, including someone who was definitely drunk dancing in a Speedo. Mallory Square is right there, and there’s another bar right next door, so the location is great. All of the food was good, and it was one of the better lobster bisques I’ve ever had. Our server, Kim, was great. We all enjoyed screaming Dropkick Murphys’ “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” while we were ordering, not quite the vibes we were going for, but it was hilarious. Our reservation was about 15 minutes before sunset, but a more ideal time would be 45 to 60 minutes prior. The menus are backlit, which is a nice touch once it gets dark.
This was, by far, the BEST food/service/dining experience in Key West! First, the atmosphere (including the sunset) was spectacular. Gorgeous decor and very upscale without being intimidating or pretentious! Next, our server, Jackie, was INCREDIBLE. Professional, knowledgeable, so kind and friendly and really elevated our dining experience. Her knowledge of the food and preparations really helped us decide on our dinner choices. She anticipated everything we needed and the timing of drinks/apps/wine/dinner/dessert was perfect 👌 Now, the food!!!! Incredible 😲 we had brussels and the beet salad to start as well as the bread service (highly recommend). Entrees included 2 salmon, swordfish and the shrimp...all truly outstanding. We rounded out dinner with key lime pie (incredible), but the star was the bread pudding.....WOW! Divine! This is a MUST when in town!
Visited the Hot Tin Roof for Sunday Brunch to celebrate my birthday.🎉🥳🎂 I was in for a surprise that I never expected!! First, Kim G is a superstar and pure gold! 💛✨ She made my birthday so special and was so much fun to talk to. Just was running circles in that place ensuring all her tables were taken care of and even with how busy it was I never once felt like her attention to her table was ever out of her sight! 🤗 The food!!! 😱 Small plates brunch is a whole different experience and one there everyone she enjoy! I left full, but not like I needed to take a nap! 😂 As a foodie the presentation and flavor of all the plates were on point! 🧑🏽🍳👌🏽😋 Sitting outside was the best! I thought with being dressed up as one should do on their birthday I was going to melt in the Key West sun and heat, but the fans and warm breeze off the water made for the perfect afternoon! 😎🌊 Thanks again Kim G!! Until next time! 💙💛
From the service and ambiance to the food, everything met the expectations of an upscale restaurant. The dishes were beautifully prepared. My Pork Shank Osso Buco was incredibly tender, and my husband’s Plantain Crusted Swordfish had a perfect balance of texture and flavor. We also loved the Roasted Cauliflower and Crispy Brussels Sprouts, both were excellent sides.
The dinner experience my wife and I had at Hot Tin Roof was amazing from the beginning to the end. The hostess Wendy gave us the best table at the restaurant; outside, perfect water view. Our waiter Chad was very knowledgeable of the menu and provided excellent service. My wife and I shared appetizers, the lobster bisque which was phenomenal. It was different from any other lobster bisque I ever had and the skirt pork was outstanding. My wife’s salmon was cooked perfectly. The red sauce was phenomenal and the crispy skin on the salmon was perfect. My swordfish was one of the best I ever had, the swordfish did not have any dark spots on it and cooked to perfection and the poblano tequila sauce was phenomenal and Amazing.
Great experience. Been several times. Swordfish is perfect 👌 lambchop and salmon are very good too. The desserts are delicious. Make a reservation way ahead of time if possible. At sunset preferably on the terrace. Extensive wine list and excellent service. Presentation is delightful.
Amazing! We had a great time, the service was pretty impeccable and all-in-all it wasn’t that pricey. The swordfish and the manchego butter were the highlights. They set out a lovely display for the wife’s birthday and really made her feel special. We timed it well to avoid the cover band next door, be aware of that potential noise pollution if you’re live music averse like I am. Really amazing place though, we paid about $210 as a 4 and we were all very satisfied.
I came with my boyfriend and my friend for my birthday’s brunch. Kim G was absolutely extraordinary. Her service was truly unmatched—professional, warm, and attentive to every detail. She made the entire experience exceptional. I would definitely return, especially because of her. Thank you, Kim, for such outstanding service!
My wife and I celebrated our 20-year wedding anniversary at Hot Tin Roof, and the entire experience was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional — especially our waiter, Andrei, who truly went above and beyond to make the night unforgettable. Management arranged what was easily the best table in the house, giving us a stunning, unobstructed view of the Key West sunset. It was the perfect backdrop for such a special evening. Every course and drink was phenomenal — beautifully presented, full of flavor, and timed perfectly. Andrei’s attention to detail, professionalism, and warm personality elevated the entire experience. If you’re visiting Key West and want an incredible meal paired with top-notch service, Hot Tin Roof is a must. Our anniversary dinner couldn’t have been better. Highly, highly recommended!
Booked a reservation here for our last night after hearing how great it was. Three of us took a tapas style approach and ordered many small plates, drinks, a salad and two entrees. Everything was amazing, we sat at 5:30 and watched the sunset. For dessert I debated the Cuban bread pudding or the tres leches; the waitress recommended the bread pudding and it was genuinely the best dessert of my life. Muchas gracias Jackie!!!! And thank you chef Charity 💖
I recommend doing multiple small plates! For 2 of us we ordered the Blackened Shrimp Mac & Cheese (so good), Seared Catch, Crispy Wagyu Beef Cheek (it was fine but wouldn’t order if I went back) & the star of the show was the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. I would have ordered 2! So dang good! The drinks were pricey but strong and good.
Hot Tin Rooftop is perfect for sunset drinks with a view. The atmosphere is vibrant and stylish, the cocktails are creative, and the service is attentive. Great for a laid-back evening enjoying Key West from above. I loved every bit of it here 🫶🏾
Can I give it six stars? My wife and I came down to Key West for our 25th wedding anniversary getaway. The food, the drinks, the service, and the views were all stellar. From the Smoked Tequila Old Fashion to the baby beets, risotto, octopus, and swordfish, it was destination dining at its finest. It was everything I could have hoped for in a celebration location. Thanks to Brittney and the rest of the staff for being perfectly attentive to our needs. A top notch delight of a restaurant. Oh, and the blood orange panna cotta was the perfect end to the evening.
We were there on Christmas evening. The service was great. Food was good (my prime rib was too undercooked for my liking) Atmosphere was very nice except the band out on the pier was too loud.
Wonderful dinner experience, beautiful setting upstairs above the wharf. Fresh seafood options including swordfish and Florida pink shrimp. Top notch service and attention to details. Highly recommended, enjoy a nice meal away from the crowds and beer pubs.
2nd time eating here, and yet another magical experience ❤️❤️ Everyone claims to have the best Key Lime Pie in Key West… but this place ACTUALLY has the best Key Lime Pie in Key West❤️🍰 We had a group of 4 and everyone was raving about their meals. Pics don’t do it justice👌 Let me say it again for the people in the back… THE BEST KEY LIME PIE! Pro tip: Go with a group of friends that will all share their food, you’ll want to order the entire menu anyway😉🤤
We had our first anniversary dinner at Hot Tin Roof! We had a celebration sign waiting at our table and the sunset is absolutely unmatched! Best spot for a upscale celebration with the BEST Key Lime Pie on the island!
Best view restaurant in key west. We came here twice during our 4-days stay. Key lime pie is the best in key west. Crab cake and swordfish are also delicious Spectacular sunset view
Brunch is always a great time, especially with Kim G! Fantastic food, nice views, and good drinks! The brunch menu is always different but has items everyone will enjoy.
What a beautiful experience!! Sat on the front patio positioned perfectly for sunset! From our walk in we were greeted so well! Our server Jackie made our night perfect! She led us through a dinner of perfect tastes of the best of the restaurant! Wonderful drinks. We felt so at home. Jackie is a gem of a human you all are lucky to have her.
Had an incredible experience at Hot Tin Roof, watching the sunset from the outside dining area as we drank some expertly crafted cocktails made by Nick and were served an array of delicacies, from the best crab cake we’ve ever eaten to Cuban bread pudding that was insanely delicious. Perhaps the best of all was our server, Jackie - she is an absolute delight and curated our evening to perfection! Thanks to Jackie, Nick, and all who had a hand in marking last night as a standout in our lifelong memories!
We had a great experience. We sat outside and had a fantastic view of the sunset. We were a larger group and ordered almost all of the small plates and family style shared. Every plate was incredibly good but everyone's favorite was the crab cakes and lobster Mac and cheese. While not an inexpensive restaurant, it is a trip worth making.
The tuna tacos are by far the best I've had. Great location...pretty much perfect for a sunset and live music.
Must have brunch here! And absolute delight with attentive servers and gorgeous views. Thank for a great start to my vacation.
Food was delicious and our waiter was great, we had the two eggs breakfast and quiche of the day. Great view and pretty reasonable price for the food. Very relaxing place for breakfast. Would come again!
Lovely restaurant with the best views. Kim Welch was our outstanding server. The Scottish Salmon was delicious, as was the swordfish. Scrumptious cocktails hit the spot. We especially loved the after dinner drink made with Frangelica and ice cream. The hot tin tini too! Beautiful place to eat and see all the different water craft. From sailboats to cruiseships. Always something to see. Treat yourself to a special dinner!
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner experience!! Andrea guided us through the menu, her recommendation were spot on!! She made us feel like lifelong friends(she grew up in the same area we did). The food was so delicious!! Seasoning was perfect. The Cuban bread pudding was the best bread pudding we have ever had!! The other staff were very attentive…our water glasses were always full! Thank you for a magical sunset dinner experience!!
Fantastic food - they have both small plates and entrees. What sets this apart from other spots where you can see the sunset is that the chef is amazing. Pictured are the catch of the day, crab cake and dark chocolate tres leches. We also had mini tuna tacos and a beet salad with fresh ricotta. Hot Tin Roof was worth every penny.
We visited Hot Tin Roof while on vacation in Key West. It was so good we had dinner there twice. Wow!!! I honestly never expected to have such good food in a tourist area. The food was creative and full of flavor. It is the perfect place to view the amazing sunset. Joanne was our server, she was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She explained how to eat a whole fish which we had never done before but wanted to be adventurous. We had the Scottish salmon, the plantain crusted swordfish, tuna tacos, the whole snapper fish. And the dessert. We had the Cuban bread pudding and it was so delicious that my husband embarrassingly ordered a second dessert. He said if he left Key West and didn’t have more of that dessert he would regret it.
We cannot express how magical Hot Tin Roof was for our anniversary! Andrei’s recommendations kept us ‘wow’-ing again and again all through our dinner. If you’re looking for a nice surprise for your special someone; the romance package is not to be missed- my husband to be was delighted. Thank you, HTR staff; and especially Andrei for such a lovely evening.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Food was incredible, our server (Vanessa) was lovely and gave awesome recommendations - also incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes. Atmosphere was up there with the best. 10/10.
What a great exoerince. The food was stellar(short rib would be my recommendation). The staff was a pleasure to interact with. The perfectc spot for a great meal while enjoying the famous key west sunset. Leave room for the cuban bread pudding(i swear im not being bias).
Wowowow! This restaurant gets a 12/10. The atmosphere, food and service were all amazing. Atmosphere: We sat outside (in December on a windy day) and it was pretty chilly. They gave us blankets for the chill which helped us better enjoy the incredible sunset and delightful live music! Drinks: The red blend wine and seasonal Old Fashioned were fan favorites. Food: The food was well prepared, came out relatively quickly and had personality and flavor. I personally enjoyed the Short Rib, which had a gentle taste of ginger and a slight sweetness from the date infused gravy. This paired very well with the coconut jasmine rice! Dessert: We were hesitant about the Cuban Bread pudding but now we know that this is the way to go! Decadent, soft and filling, this was a sweet treat I can’t wait to have again. Service: Our server Curtis was an absolute delight! With a beautiful singing voice and a smile to match, he shared his immense knowledge on all things cuisine and sight seeing with us. I felt that he was efficient and wonderfully communicative when it came to any dish items coming out later than expected. The Assistant Server, Ryan, never left our cups empty and was always there with an upbeat attitude while providing us with anything we needed. This was truly one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long while and I encourage everyone to give it a try! Side Note: We were here wedding venue shopping and this specific hotel allots complimentary drinks and bites as apart of their Venue tour. The hotel venue is quirky, cozy, colorful and fun. Every person we encountered went above and beyond and made us feel welcomed. It was truly a memorable and enjoyable day at the Hot Tin Roof Restaurant and Ocean Key Resort and Spa!
#1 restaurant in Key West for so many reasons! The food is phenomenal, the service is exceptional and the vibes are unmatched. This is easily our favorite place to dine. We always have Curtis take care of us and he makes our night so special! The view on the balcony doesn’t hurt either. Highly suggest getting an evening reservation, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the sunset and avoid crowds.
I surprised my wife with their silver add-on that's available. Very accommodating, this was done hours before our reservations. Super attentive staff, great food, and a nice romantic vibe. The bill can definitely elevate depending on how you order. My opinion is you can't put a price on a good time with your loved ones.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We had the swordfish and filet with the Brussels and the Baby Beets. It was a great place to enjoy some of the best food on the island. The smoked Old Fashioned was perfect.
We had an exceptional dinner experience at HOT Tin Roof. We were seated outside on the balcony and enjoyed an added bonus of a beautiful sunset during our meal. Our food and service was exceptional. Our server Joanne was knowledgeable and gracious. She assisted us with menu choices and delivered seamless service. This was definitely a 5 star experience.
We had breakfast served by Jackie and we had the best service we can have dreamed of. She was kind, professional and helpful. She made our time more enjoyable. The avocado toast is amazing, the best I had. For dinner I recommend the lamb shops and risotto. The view and atmosphere are incredible and we highly recommend the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Also, the bartender at the pool is fantastic, pleasant, friendly and very helpful. Loved our stay!
Our dinner at Hot Tin Roof was the best meal of our 5 day visit. Food was delicious but the person that made it so special was our server, Jackie. She thoroughly explained the menu and did not rush us throughout. She graciously took several photos for us during the sunset. We also observed her doing the same at other tables. Ask for Jackie, you’ll be glad you did!
The food and service were excellent. Brussel Sprouts, Shrimp mac & cheese and the tuna tacos (2x per order) are a must have for appetizers. Swordfish was very well prepared and DO NOT skip on the key lime pie. Cocktails are also very good. Overall its worth the visit.
My wife and I went to Hot Tin Roof on our first night in Key West and we had a blast. The ambiance was fantastic. The food was outstanding (swordfish was exceptional). And the service was top notch. Special shoutout to our server April. 10 out of 10. Super personable and also very kind with her time. She gave us great tips on what to do while we're down here! Highly recommend Hot Tin Roof in Key West!
This was our first time in Key West, and we made a reservation here to celebrate my wife’s birthday with a group of six. It was a beautiful evening, and we were seated with a lovely view of the waterfront. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and we were happy we chose this restaurant. Food: I always enjoy when a restaurant offers a creative and inventive cocktail menu. I won’t go into detail on each one, but they were all very good, especially the Spiced Old Fashioned. At our server’s suggestion, we ordered a couple of plates of the Grilled Ciabatta Bread. The bread was nicely grilled, and the roasted garlic manchego butter made it especially delicious. I normally try not to fill up on bread, but this was absolutely worth it. We ordered an eclectic mix of small and large plates. Some of the standout dishes included the Lobster Mac and Cheese, Swordfish, and Crab Cake. The Brussels sprouts took top honors, perfectly roasted without being greasy, full of flavor, and complemented by a generous amount of bacon. The one disappointment was the Pork Shank Osso Buco. While it was tender, it was only warm and a bit underseasoned. It was good, but not great, especially for someone who enjoys pork shank dishes. We saved room for dessert, and they were all crowd pleasers. My personal favorite was the Cuban Bread Pudding. The Chocolate Pistachio Crème Brûlée was also unique and delicious. Service: We had reservations for 7:30 and were seated promptly. The hostess and our server did a great job of making us feel welcome. The entire two-hour meal was well paced, and we always felt attended to. I was especially impressed with the backlit menu portfolios. They made it easy to read in the evening without guests needing to use their phone flashlights, which was a thoughtful and effective use of technology. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they placed a sign on the table acknowledging the occasion, which was a nice touch. It would have been even better if one of the desserts had included a lit candle. Atmosphere: The setting is beautiful. We were seated in a smaller dining room with several other tables. When we first arrived, there was a larger, very boisterous group nearby, and it made it difficult to hear our server. Fortunately, they left about 30 minutes into our meal, and the atmosphere became much more relaxed and enjoyable. Our waterfront view added to the experience. This was a very special evening. It was also the most expensive meal we had in Key West, so it was reasonable to have high expectations. With a few improvements, it could have been a five-star experience. Definitely a place we would return to.
My husband made reservations for our anniversary dinner. Got there early and had a cocktail at the bar. Drinks were good, bartender friendly and attentive. They sat us outside on the side of the deck for the sunset which had a nice view but was surprised we weren't seated at a better situated table witha better view considering it was for a special occasion (it was empty during our entire time at dinner). Either way, the restaurant is lovely outside and inside had a great ambiance as well. Our server was lovely and attentive. Food was good. We had the octopus small plate. Great flavor but was slightly over cooked. The beet salad was tasty however it was more similar to and avovcado toast than a salad. The greens it was served with on the side could have been better dressed. The Wagyu beef cheek was extremely tender and flavorful. I was between giving a 3 and 4 star rating but decided on the 4 thanks to dessert. So many restaurants don't pay much attention to their desserts as they do to the main menu but here they do. Not many places do I rave about their desserts but here their dark chocolate tres leche deserves the rave! Beautifully plated. The dessert was elegant, balanced and worth every bite. I will come back again just for the dessert and to try their other ones cause this one was so on point I'm now curious how the others compare. Over all great spot for sunset views, cocktails (although pricey) and dessert!
We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday but the check-in process was not as welcoming, resulting in 1 star less. Luckily the food and the service from the waitress made up for that. Overall still a good experience 😉
We came in for a birthday celebration dinner. Reservation highly recommended, and I did that via Resy about two weeks in advance. The outside patio is better if you want to view the sunset, but the inside is pretty comfortable as well. My favorite dishes are crab cake and wild mushrooms. I like that the dishes are lightly flavored, but the portion size is not so big, so it ended up being a pretty pricey meal. The service was attentive and friendly.
We were recently visiting Key West and made a reservation at Hot Tin Roof. We wanted a restaurant with a view and outdoor seating. The view was "okay." While on the water, it overlooked the pool, which was empty so not an issue. The food was fabulous. We opted for small places and a side and we loved all of our choices. We are not big drinkers and opted to order sparkling water and a soda. We feel at this point our experience went downhill. One suggestion would be to be not over charge for the non-alcholic drinks. Paying the same price for a NA cocktail vs. a regular cocktail seems a little off. People may be more likely to purchase an NA cocktail for a reasonable price. $17 is not reasonable.
Excellent food and solid service and a great sunset view, but several policies and practices left a bad impression. The POS system only presented tip options calculated on the post-tax total, quietly inflating gratuities. At an upscale restaurant, that feels intentionally misleading and unprofessional. Guests shouldn’t have to do math to avoid being overcharged on a tip. There is also a $25 per person late reservation fee, yet the restaurant does not answer the phone if you’re running late and instead directs you to download an app — which did not even provide a way to notify them. Although they ultimately did not charge the fee, the process created unnecessary and avoidable stress. Great food, but the policies feel designed to extract extra money rather than deliver a truly premium guest experience.
This review is based on 26 years of visiting Key West and dining out around town. The server at this restaurant was the least attentive server we have ever had in Key West. We were seated for a while before the sever even stoped in to take our drink orders. Unfortunately he disappeared after that for a bit only to return with the drinks but just to drop them and take off again. Another 10-15 minutes until he returns and asked us if we had enough time with the menus and if we could place our orders. Mind you we had now watched multiple tables sat after us get their first courses and it was 5pm. He didn't offer any additional information about the restaurant or meals, then seamed bothered by our questions regarding plate size and menu options. I’m not sure if there were any specials last night , but if there were, we were not offered them. The timing of the plates were horrible, being delivered at odd times with large gaps between service. We were never asked if the meals were prepared to our liking or if we wanted any other drinks or menu items. Also let me point out this restaurant is one of the most expensive in town, and the service is better at Wendy’s . Unless your desperate for a sunset dinner… skip this place for now! I would suggest latitudes (same price much better views and professional servers) The gratuity we left was the lowest we’ve ever left and was difficult to do, but it reflected the service that we received. -update- -update- The rude response from the restaurant is unfortunate and not accurate .. now let me tell you how I was contacted by the manger and welcomed back. (I wouldn’t have returned if I had read their response tho.) The implication me and my guest are not familiar with multiple course meals is a sad way of saying I’m not cultured .. What they’re really trying to say is little people like me can’t appreciate such things… anywho here is the deal , I went back.. And my meal was graciously paid for by the restaurant … And guess what not only was my meal excellent but the server was also excellent , Attentive and knowledgeable , We were not delayed in getting beverages. We are not delayed in getting our courses and my first course was not delivered along with my main as it was the first night …. She explained the menu , explained the courses and explained the restaurant, even explaining how the sunset was going to unfold. None of this was shared on the first night. It’s unfortunate the person controlling their SM decided to lie , insult and then defend a staff member who was very poor at their job. This could have gone a much different way and you could have earned a customer for life… Oh well .. guess little people like me won’t be welcomed back… being so uncultured and all.. this isn’t the Key West I fell in love with :(
