If you’re within an hour radius of this place - it’s 100% worth the visit! The food was INCREDIBLE and the service matched! My only critic is that the atmosphere was a bit bland and not as relaxing as I would’ve expected. However I will definitely return next time I’m in town!
Everything was BEYOND AMAZING!! The team really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, at home and taken care of. The new chef, Chef Sean, is a Phenomenal Chef that knows how to pair flavors textures and components perfectly. Every bite is perfectly balanced and delicious that makes you wanna go back for more. The new menu, showcases rustic Colorado flavors in an upscale fashion with every bite being better than the last. If you’re looking for a wonderful dinner Look no further than the Keystone Ranch!!
This place was perfect for an amazing birthday/date night dinner. The ambiance is very nice. Staff is pleasant and prompt. The drive there was cool and like you were on a hidden trail! Appetizer: focaccia and meatballs The focaccia was good! I thought a bit dry and salty (?) but good! We added the burrata which may have been the salt culprit. Hard to tell. But the burrata was good as well! They should serve it with more of those tomatoes. The fig jam was great! We give the meatballs 8/10. Good flavor and the polenta was nice. Dinner: tenderloin and bison ribeye The tenderloin was the best steak dinner I have ever had at a restaurant, hands down! My boyfriend agreed and he does not say this lightly. He grills all the time. Seriously, it was the absolute best steak and made this review a 5 star automatically. I asked for it medium rare. The sauce was one of the best sauces I have ever had. I’m sorry, I just loved this meal! The bison ribeye was also really good. He gave it a 9/10. Lots of pepper. The espresso rub was really subtle. The meat was cooked well. They did great with the steaks! Dessert: cappuccinos and apple crisp Cappuccinos were good! Apple crisp needed a bit more crisp in our opinions (we are big apple crisp people) but the flavor was good! Overall, wonderful place for an upscale dinner in Keystone! We loved it!
From a photographer's perspective, we couldn't think of a more beautiful place to have a wedding! We recently photographed a ski elopement at Keystone, followed by an intimate reception with the couple's closest friends and family at the Keystone Ranch, and it was such a wonderful celebration! The staff was kind and accommodating, the food was fabulous, and the atmosphere was dreamy for a winter wedding! 5 stars all around; we hope to return soon!
100 percent phenomenal service!!!! From when you park to desert one of the best services and meals I have ever had. This restaurant is top notch and know what they are doing when it comes customer service and food!! Want to say Scott our server was top notch and definitely needs to be recognized for his phenomenal service that we received while we were there. This guy knows the menu like a professional and he definitely gives great recommendations for the food they offer. I shared the tomahawk buffalo with my buddy and had it cooked at medium rare. Let me tell you that the buffalo was cooked to perfection and the fat just melts in your mouth. We also had the bone marrow and the pork belly. Both great choices if you like something different. This place is a must if you are ever in keystone. This is definitely the best restaurant that I have experience in keystone. Great job guys keep up the good work at all your doing. You are doing a great job.
One of the best high end dining experiences I have had, and certainly the best steakhouse I have been to. Delicious food from start to with a wonderful large selection with a rustic spacious ambience as if it was lifted from a scene in Yellowstone. Definitely recommend. Amazing sourdough which pairs incredibly well with their raspberry balsamic jam and whipped butter with black sea salt. Followed by a 12 oz Bison ribeye done perfectly. Tender with a nice chew and good flavor. Beef steak is better though. If you going to eat something unhealthy like steak, go all in and eat the most flavorful one. The Grand Marnier souffle with pistachio anglasie was epic, with the souffle having a nice creamy consistency with a subtle orange flavor, nicely complemented by the subtle pistachio flavor. The bourbon apple ice cream was incredibly smooth and flavor with fun little apple bits. They ended the meal with a nice homemade raspberry dark chocolate piece to freshen the palate.
We had the best dinner and service we have ever had in our lives. Scott was so attentive and provided 5 star service. The entire experience way exceeded our expectations. We have been homeowners in Keystone for 13 years and wished we would have done this earlier. We will be back soon.
What a wonderful golf course with amazing views! Elevation changes on the front nine make for an interesting game. Hazards are manageable. Entire course is very well kept. Pro shop is small with limited items available.
We were here for wine in the pines. Awesome venue. Couldn't ask for better food or wait staff. Outstanding. Highly recommend next year for anybody to go to wine in the pines. It's a great charity event for ability connections Colorado. It helps hundreds of kids. Thanks to keystone ranch for their hospitality.
Seems to be the only fine dining in town, yet they uphold the standard well. The food was quite excellent. Very fresh oysters, excellent meats, and their signature souffle shouldn't be missed. Very accommodating for kids. All of that said, it doesn't look quite like the online photos inside, at least not in the room we were in. It's rustic and cozy but more representative of the fact that it's a golf club restaurant not a ski lodge. Be sure to remind them to credit your $50 reservation deposit back if applicable. Plenty of parking. We will definitely be back anytime we're in Keystone. Also there's a large bar area too. And nice views of the flat course, I assume (everything was covered in feet of snow on our visit in late March.)
Such a beautiful place and all the food is amazing. I’m not crazy about seafood but there hasn’t been anything on the menu I wouldn’t order again. My wife and I were so impressed with the food, service, and location, we had our winter wedding there! Try it, you won’t be disappointed! Also, the GM is more than accommodating as well. Thank you again sir!
Great food, atmosphere and service.
A classic, elegant, laid back experience every time we come. The steaks, wine, creative and well flavored small plates are must try when close by, winter or summer. Count yourself lucky if Brandon is your server, the service and hospitality he provided us, along with PJ and Catarina, we’ll be back again and again.
This will be remembered as one of our most favorite, top rated dining experiences. Excellent service, amazing mountain and golf course views, incredibly favorable food, all 3 courses! Unforgettable!
My wife, son and I had dinner at Keystone Ranch last night and it was a phenomenal meal. They take pride in their service and it shows that it is one of a kind. The lobster bisque is top notch and the duck entree was exquisite. Half way through dinner we had a very nice surprise with a male moose walking across the golf course and cooling off in the lake for about an hour. Keystone Ranch is a restaurant that you will remember forever. In a good way!
Excellent dining experience. All the staff members from the coat check stand to the servers were very attentive and helpful. The food was amazing. Definitely recommend the gnocchi and the bison tenderloin.
Great food and vibe. Very friendly and caring staff. We had bison ribeye and the hanger steak. Both exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and presentation.
Shoutout to PJ for an excellent job, great dude, awesome drinks. Really brought the fun atmosphere and knew how to make a variety of great drinks. I will be back!
We had a delicious dinner here- everything was excellent and our server Catrina was so friendly and helpful. The ambience with the wood burning fireplace was great too.
Pj was amazing. So attentive and great recommendations. His wine knowledge was superb. He made the night. The food was great too
Outstanding food nice waitress otherwise staff looked they are not out of high school To be bruit honest everything is ala expense Use to be nice 7 course meal GONE As as ex chef this outstanding meal
Had a delicious bolognese, and PJ at the bar is a wizard with the drinks! Don't miss the old fashioned, the dirty martini or the neat margarita.
The first time I went was 30 years ago. The last time before last night was 10 years ago. It was just as good as ever. Our waiter Austin took extremely great care of us and made some great recommendations. I will definitely be going back and hope it’s not in another 10 years before.
We enjoyed a celebratory meal here New Year’s Eve. The food, atmosphere, and service was top notch….this was a very memorable experience.
The Bison pasta and Borcht were outstanding. Appreciated attentive service and recommendations from PJ.
Sonya's recommendations were right on with what we were looking for! If you are in the area, Keystone Ranch has great food, drinks and ambience!
Shoutout PJ for being an amazing bartender! Great energy fast service and the drinks were amazing!
The food was good. Certainly very pricey, will not return due to price, just over what we thought was worth it. The night we went, it clearly has guests that seem like old money, and older people. We felt out of place being in our late 30s. Nice for a one time visit but due to price and quality, we can make our dollar go much further somewhere else with similar food quality. Where we sat also did not match the romantic picture with the lights that the Google review shows, so something to keep in mind.
Excellent, wonderful, and expensive. A great 5-star restaurant in Summit County. Great selections on the menu. We've only dined here once and were not dissapointed. We plan to dine here again this summer during the off season when it is less crowed and easier to obtain a reservation.
⭐ 5 Stars – The Ranch Is Back! We’ve been enjoying the Keystone Ranch Restaurant for nearly eight years, and our recent holiday visits reminded us why it’s one of our favorite spots. The atmosphere is upscale yet comfortably Colorado, perfect for family dinners, gatherings with friends, or a night out for two. Service was excellent as always. We sat in the bar, where P.J. handled both our drinks and our table—fantastic on both fronts. He also walked us through the updates from the new Chef, who has refreshed the menu while keeping the classics we love. The staples are still there: a wide range of Large Plate proteins, premium Butcher Block cuts, great sides, and the signature Ranch Kettle soup. But the new additions really impressed us—especially the expanded small plates and the four house‑made pastas. During our holiday visits, we tried several small plates (trout salad, burrata beets, duck confit terrine, country pâté), the venison entrée, and three of the new pastas (escargot ravioli, duck stroganoff, spiced bison bolognese). Every dish was excellent. The venison was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the presentation across the board was the best we’ve seen at the Ranch in years. The expanded small plates offer great variety, and the house‑made pastas add a welcome new dimension to the menu—plus more ways to enjoy a great meal at a flexible price point. Bottom line: The new Chef, P.J., and the entire team delivered an outstanding experience. The refreshed menu brings bold flavors and beautiful presentation while keeping the warm hospitality that makes the Ranch special.
I have been coming to Keystone Ranch with my family to dine for over 20 years and it has rarely disappointed. We went last night and were so excited to be seated fireside. The ambiance was incredible and the popping of the fireplace made for a rustic experience. We were delighted to have Katrina as our server, who we’ve had the pleasure of knowing for years! She is our absolute favorite and seeing her and my parents converse and catch up after years of coming, really made it feel like home. The food was spectacular and overall it was another lovely evening with my family dining at The Ranch.
My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here coming from the Keystone Lodge and Spa. I ordered the venison, and my girlfriend ordered the salmon, and both dishes were exceptional! For drinks, I ordered a Ranch 75 (basically a French 75) and the Paper Plane, the bar has the classics nailed! Catrina made the night special, and Mike talked to us about the history of the Lodge. Overall, this was an amazing spot to spend our anniversary!
Had fantastic drinks/dinner with friends last night! PJ makes the best Old Fashion in Summit County! Mike C provided a very knowledgeable and gracious dining experience that our friends will remember forever. The Porterhouse is awesome and Kam has the place running very smoothly to round out the complete experience that one expects having enjoyed this place for many years! Thanks for your great hospitality.
Catrina , our server was exceptional. The food was delicious and we won’t make a trip to the area without having keystone ranch restaurant on the itinerary. The venison , salmon and stroganoff were all fantastic !
First time in Colorado and first dining experience here! We sat at the bar and PJ was absolutely phenomenal! He has a fantastic personality and made the experience just amazing! I can't wait to come back...thanks PJ!
We have come here several times now and it never disappoints!! The service is amazing and the food is out of this world. Our server Sonya was excellent. The ranch is a must every time we are in Keystone!!
One of our favorites. Sonya took care of us with our latest visit and she was so wonderful and lovely, we would be blessed to have her everytime we visit. Can’t wait to come back!
Update Jan 2025: Unfortunately they no longer have the Porterhouse or the Tomahawk steaks that I posted about. They have a new chef now, food was still excellent. Kitchen and service were slow this time but we were a big group and not in a rush. I ordered the ribeye and our table was happy with the venison, salmon, and crab cakes. Original Post Dec 2023: Amazing food, amazing service. Best porterhouse steak I have ever had. Waiter was very nice and insightful about local history. Loved it and will be back!
Great meal and atmosphere to go to after a long day of skiing. Definitely pricey, but service was really great!
Stopped by for lunch on the patio. We had wonderful views! You order at the bar and food is brought to you, it's a little more self service at lunch. This was the perfect atmosphere we were looking for. Also a limited lunch menu.
We enjoyed our night. I feel like this is a place you have to go once. The building is historic and unique. We had a beautiful table right by the window. The service was impeccable (thanks, Emilio). Otherwise, the food underperformed against very high expectations. It was fine but not exceptional. The filets were not super tender, and the value was not there against a $300+ tab for a couple. But go anyway, at least once. It's a great place for a special occasion or just a pampered night.
The Keystone Ranch restaurant has enormous potential and the building itself is a beautiful, classic western log structure. However, there were several issues with our meal here that should not have occurred at this restaurant’s price point ($100+ per person). First, it took the waitress more than 25 minutes to come over to take our order once we were seated. She did not explain the menu as promised either when she did come. We had the Delice de Bourgogne as our appetizer and the soft and creamy cheese was one of the best cheeses that I have ever had. It then took more than an hour for our main meals to come. It took so long that the waitress brought out extra soups for us. My husband’s bison ribeye steak (listed for $125 on the menu) came out cold and they gave us a side of wild mushrooms that tasted like seaweed instead of the mushroom cream sauce he had ordered. We told both our waitress and the man who had brought out the food about us not receiving the sauce. It then took 15 minutes to receive it, meaning that my husband had already finished eating by that time. My steak frites was rather tough and difficult to cut, I honestly have had better at the cafeteria at work. Fortunately, the waitress did take 25% off our bill and waived the mushroom cream sauce due to the issues. Additionally, we were seated in the extension room that did not receive the heat from the main room. We had to ask for them to turn the fireplace back on and had to wear our winter coats for warmth during the dinner. Prior to eating here, I also had received a survey asking about any dietary restrictions and if it was a special occasion. It was our wedding anniversary so I selected that option, but it never was acknowledged. If the restaurant doesn’t intend to acknowledge special occasions, they shouldn’t ask. All together, the experience took more than 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, our party of 5 was completely underwhelmed. I had looked at the menu listed on resort/restaurant’s website. While expensive, we were celebrating so happy to go somewhere special. First of all, though the reservation was made months in advance, there was no table waiting for us and we were informed that we had no reservations. Lucky for us, we had a printout of not only the confirmation, but the fact that we had already paid the $50 cost to ensure the reservation. They eventually put together a table that did not accommodate the numbers in our party, and had to remind them of how many of us were dining. Eventually, we were seated. My biggest complaint is that the menu on website was similar, but at least half of the items were different. Now, I know some items can be seasonal, etc, but this was not the case. It was especially upsetting that the menu online clearly stated that the steaks (priced from $60+) were not only now more expensive, but came with nothing else. According to the website they were to be served with special Boursin Mashed Potatoes and 1 side item included. I specifically asked if anything was included and was told no, steaks just come with a sauce! So then we ordered sides of asparagus and broccolini, which were now listed as more expensive than menu online. Unfortunately, both of these side items came drowned in some sort of butter cream sauce Leaving you unable to taste the vegetables, and said vegetables were basically raw under said sauce. Now I love a bit of fresh snap on my veg, but be assured, this was not that. While my corn and gnocchi dish was very tasty, my Mother hardly touched her crab salad. She’s not very picky, so I was surprised to hear her complain about her corn tasting as if had come from a can and that they could have gone to Kroger just down the street for fresh corn that is in season. While these were very serious to problems the chef and manager need to overcome, I will say that the service waiters were very good, the ambiance cozy and pleasant overlooking the mountains and the parking was easy and plentiful. Keystone Management needs to get their act together, update their menu online regularly, and consider bringing in secret shopping dining to evaluate their dining experiences.
The Ranch is just not what it once was. While the waitstaff and the beautiful location remain as wonderful as ever, the food has not. The menu is significantly diminished. The choices extremely limited. On the plus side, the fillets we had were of excellent quality, but the sides were disappointing. And ridiculously, they don’t even have bread service. The dessert was inedible. They apologized and explained they had a new chef… but, really? I am a longtime fan of The Ranch and have seen it through many transitions, but regrettably this will be the last time.
First of all, the food that we ordered was first rate but here is the rub, two of the four steaks were not available. This is a steak restaurant and you should never have an experience where half the steak options were not available. Two of the starters were not available either. We also learned that this restaurant was owned by Vail Associates and not someone local from Keystone. Some personalized focus from Vail Associates is needed at this restaurant. I hope to come back in the future but coming to a steakhouse and they tell you that they are out of steaks should never happen. This restaurant deserves better and I hope to have a better experience in the future.
Came here for a special New Year’s dinner. Atmosphere top notch, our waiter Austin was very attentive. Unfortunately our evening wasn’t great. We both ordered the $60 New York strip. The steak was awful. At least half of mine was chewy and gristle- inedible. Same for my husband. The manager offered a 25% discount. There had been a number of prior complaints about this steak, but no investigation into them. Worst steak I’ve ever eaten really. DO NOT order the NEW YORK STRIP. We got two complimentary coffees- luke warm. Our waiter then had to leave, but we got our dessert and had asked for the manager to stop by after seeing our plates of gristle left over. He brought our bill and gave us a 50% discount per steak. After that no one came by to pick up our bill. Had to go to the front desk to get checked out. This place is beautiful, but poorly run.
I have always been a huge fan of Keystone Ranch. Whenever I travel to Colorado, I make it a point to dine there with my family or business clients. Over the years, I’ve recommended the restaurant to many friends and colleagues, and it has consistently wowed us—until this last visit. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt different. We were not greeted with the same warm hospitality we had come to expect. The hostess, a young woman, was noticeably dry and lacked the welcoming demeanor we remembered. Once seated, we ordered drinks, and unfortunately, they were disappointing. My wife’s Negroni tasted overwhelmingly of Campari, with little balance. My Old Fashioned lacked creativity and refinement. Given the caliber of the restaurant, both cocktails should have been presented over a large ice cube or sphere—details that elevate the experience but were clearly overlooked. The appetizers were equally underwhelming. It felt as though the traditional menu had been altered simply for the sake of being “fancy,” at the expense of flavor. The creamed salmon belly was unbearably salty. The Wagyu meatballs were dry and lacked depth. The duck confit and Wagyu beef tartare were solid and enjoyable, but they weren’t enough to offset the earlier missteps. For our entrées, we ordered the Wagyu tomahawk steak cooked medium rare; it arrived nearly rare. My New York strip was no better than what you might find at an average steakhouse. The lamb chops were heavily smothered in green herbs, and the overpowering aroma made them difficult to enjoy. The only true standout of the evening was the ribeye. We ultimately decided not to try our luck with dessert and chose to leave. On a positive note, our server was attentive and very pleasant. However, everyone in our party left disappointed. I sincerely hope the restaurant returns to its roots, but it may be quite some time before I consider going back.
We booked Keystone Ranch months in advance for a birthday dinner, excited to try the highly recommended restaurant. Unfortunately, it turned into a disappointment from the start. The online menu (which had been posted all summer) did not match the actual menu—no Braised Short Ribs, no Elk Bolognese, and most upsetting, no Grand Marnier Soufflé or Cast Iron Apple Crisp that they're known for. The server admitted management refuses to update the website despite repeated guest complaints. It felt like an actual bait-and-switch. The food and service were uneven. The grilled jumbo shrimp cocktail was outstanding, but my half-roasted chicken was served over limp vegetables on top of lumpy, grainy polenta. Service was extremely slow, with tables seated after us—a table of 4 and even a table of 8—receiving their food first. Servers didn't even know who had ordered what, which is unacceptable at this level of dining. To make matters worse, the birthday noted on our reservation was overlooked until we brought it to their attention ourselves. At another restaurant the next night, the staff recognized the birthday immediately, showing the level of attention and care we expected here. Ultimately, this was not the celebration we had planned. With misleading menus, inconsistent service, and a lack of attention to detail, Keystone Ranch was a complete letdown. We won't be back.
This place could be so much better. It was so empty yet so hard for us to get a reservation. The $15 soup tasted like it was out of a can. They use a big bowl but only had maybe 4-5 spoonfuls. The bar tender never even heard of a Long Island ice tea, then made it super sour. The filets across the table varied in size so much I think my husbands was probably 5oz and my SIL was probably 8. Mine looked 6. Hers was twice as thick as mine. The service was horrendous. We asked Emilio at the beginning to divide the bill and he acted like he was but then didn’t do it. Then made it a big deal when we asked him to correct it and told us it was going to take him a long time if he had to do it. Forgot to put desert in and the whole experience took us 2 1/2 hours to eat. Then you have to make sure that they credit you your reservation deposit or they won’t give it to you. Yes
This place charges Michelin-star prices while delivering an Outback Steakhouse experience. You typically choose a restaurant like this for exceptional food, a distinctive ambiance, or a memorable experience—ideally, all three. Unfortunately, it delivered on none of them. While the food was decent, nothing stood out as unique, refined, or complex. It was no better than what you’d expect from any competent mid-range restaurant, making the pricing and time difficult to justify. The experience itself was equally underwhelming. Service was inconsistent and inattentive, with forgotten plates, missed orders, and even drinks spilled during service—basic errors that shouldn’t occur at this type of establishment. In the end, neither the food nor the experience justified the time or cost. If you’re looking for average food at a premium price, this is the place to find it.
