Avaliações de Opa! Kingston
Sooooo good. Love this place. Terrific authentic greek food , not a cluttered greek diner with zillions of choices on their menu. Everything tastes so fresh. I love their greek wine selections. Staff is always very friendly. Restaurant is super clean.
Lunch there today with a customer in Kingston. What a pleasant surprise. Clean, and the gyros were excellent! Parking in the area is sparse but that part of town is really very nice. Highly recommend!
My sister treated me to my first Gyro, from Opa! Wonderful, fresh, delicious, gently seasoned, moist and incredible. Pita tastes homemade (perfectly) Fries were freshest I’ve ever had. Absolutely awesome!
Amazing Greek food!! So happy to have discovered this place. Got takeout just before close and it was phenomenal. Falafel, hummus, chicken souvlaki, and even the side salad are delicious
A little bit of a wait to pick up order but well worth it! Gyro, souvlaki, and falafel were all delicious! Best Greek food I've had in years. Courteous and attentive staff made the experience even better.
This is the best Greek food in the Hudson Valley, it is always delicious. I have eaten there 4 times and it is always great
The price is very reasonable, $14 for my entree and greek salad. It was the first time I tasted Retsina and this white Greek wine is amazing delicious! We finished with baklava and lemon sorbet, served in a hollowed out lemon...so refreshing. Opa is delightful, keep up the great work!
Service is outstanding, really comfy feel. And the food is delicious. Definitely worth the stop.
The best greek cuisine i’ve had upstate. Will definitely be back
Wow best food I’ve had in a while !! Spot onnn. So flavorful
The first time I came here was in 2016 and it has been consistently one of the best restaurants that I’ve eaten at. The food is always incredible and the staff is always extremely friendly. Never once had a bad experience.
The food is great! The service is wonderful. Everyone that works there takes time and care, which goes a long way. Very vegetarian friendly. Can't wait for the renovation/expanding to be done.
The chicken souvlaki and greek salad were so flavorful and tasty. My friend who is greek really liked his gyro too. The staff was all friendly and service was quick.
Solid Greek food and a relaxed atmosphere. Easy in and out. My favorite is the gyro platter w Greek fries. Husband recommends the falafel!
not your run of the mill falafel and hummus. i honestly normally hate falafel in NY -- it's often dry and mealy. no need to worry about that here. Both the falafel and the hummus are out of this world. the prices are affordable and in terms of outdoor evening dining this place is totally slept on. instead of waiting an hour for boitson's just walk around the corner and enjoy this place.
Excellent food and portions! Great ambiance and friendly service! A true gem of a Greek Restaurant. The bathroom was even clean. We will definitely be going again! Opa!
If your looking for a gyro in Kingston this is the place to go! On top of that the customer service is very professional. I lost a scarf 5 weeks back and only picked it up again 2 weeks ago but they held on to it! I am very thankful for Opa and the amazing food! Refills are not free though unfortunately.
Excellent Greek food with solid veggie options, great falafel, gyro, and souvlaki. Always fresh and crisp salad ingredients, with great seasoned Greek fries, fresh tzatziki sauce, great flavors.
A place to visit. Have been craving for a Gyro for quite a while and this time my wife google searched and found Opa all I can say is O'boy deliciously scrumptious. We were there for lunch. We started with there grilled octopus and yummy it was tender the way its suppose to be and of course just had a plain Gyro and wife had the land and sea and that was great also, the service was great if your in the area do yourself a favor and visit Opa! The menu is great you will not be disappointed
Such amazing food!! Wow! I can't wait to go back.
Authentic Greek food at an affordable price. Never had a bad meal. Servers are great. I'm part Greek on my mother's side and this place doesn't disappoint.
The food is excellent, amongst the best in the Hudson valley I would say. I always get the spanakopita plate which is delightful. Service is also very friendly.
Surprise find for us while on a ski trip to Hunter Mountain. Absolutely authentic Greek food, wonderful pita and dips, and excellent main courses. Gyro and Souvlaki meat was perfect, as was pilaf. Great portions too! We travel up this way a few times a year, so now we need to build visits to Opa into our itineraries.
The food was amazing- got the pantzaria with hummus, falafel plate, espresso, and lemon sorbet in lemon peel. Portions were big, shared all this with my husband. Definitely get the lemon sorbet. Our server, though busy, was incredibly attentive and very welcoming & kind. Lovely atmosphere.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Kingston. The food is phenomenal and at very fair prices. They have all of the excellent classics you'd expect, plus new twists like greek-inspired burgers and baklava ice cream sundae. They have a great seating area even though it isn't very visible from the street.
Food is great, sometimes the wait staff is a bit hard to catch, but I get it -- used to own a restaurant and you can't always be everywhere. Still, really enjoy the food, wife loves the tzatziki, greek salad with chicken, and when I'm craving a gyro, it's a nice place to go.
We crave and eat here regularly, John and his staff are great! The food is authentic and deliciously prepared, we clean our plates every time! I've yet to find better tasting falafels and my hubby loves the mixed platter, yum! Everything else we've had has also been delightful. Can't wait to go back🍴
We stopped in for a few appetizers - lamb sliders, falafel, and grilled octopus. Although the grilled octopus' serving size was much smaller than expected, all the food was excellent. We will definitely return to try other dishes.
Our waitress Carolyn was kind, attentive, considerate and wonderful. The food was fresh, delicious, impeccable! The prices were affordable and fair. We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for a lovely evening. We will be back and back and back again!
Opa! is high on my list of top favourite places to eat in NY! I look forward to my trips from NYC to Kingston because of the amazing service and food. I eat here so much that the waitresses already know my order 😳 (Greek wings and the pork souvlaki plate). The staff are very attentive and warm; I always feel at home. Some of the loveliest women I've ever met work here and the owner's equally as kind-- can't wait to come back!!! -Brit
I was hesitant to order the lamb chops as I've had so many disappointments before, at Greek restaurants. They were exactly at the temperature I'd asked for...and delicious. Wait staff was so personally attentive but not in your face. I'd highly recommend it.
We have eaten here several times and every time it is fantastic. The food is so fresh and delicious. We are never disappointed. The staff is attentive and Johnny the owner is incredibly friendly. ALWAYS worth the trip! A little gem in uptown Kingston!
Amazing experience, very patient waitress, me and my girlfriend went here not knowing what to expect and my girlfriend had never had gyro before or Greek food in general. The waitress explained what half the menu was so she could get a better idea of what she would like and eventually we had ordered and my girlfriend loved it! Which is strange for her when trying something new. I strongly recommend anyone looking for something new or just something to eat to go here. P.s. the food came out in 1/10th the time it took us to decide to order in a good ration for the price.
Absolutely delicious and authentic Greek food! Love the falafel balls and meats there - they’re just as good as any Greek place in Astoria. Even the fries are very European (which isn’t my favorite but they’re authentic).
Wonderful employees, awesome food and welcoming inviting space. The best waitress in the world, food was delicious, Very romantic setting. Thank you for making our date the best either of us have ever had. We will for sure be back .
Good food, fresh, healthy, AUTHENTIC Greek menu...it's a gem in Uptown Kingston! The gyros are freshly carved meat, and so tasty! THE BEST GYROS IN ULSTER COUNTY, hands down! And a great place to people watch if you choose to sit at one of the pretty outdoor tables 🙂🙂🙂
Great authentic food at a great low price. The best gyros around. Also love the grilled octopus appetizer. Been coming here for a while and will definitely continue to do so
So far visited about once a month. Delicious, hot, and flavorful. Staff and owner are welcoming and treat you like a valued customer. Small inside with limited seating so at busy time you might have to wait but it will not disappoint. Cozy, and always clean. One of our favorite go to spots.
I love Mediterranean food and have tasted quite a bit of it in different places and in different countries. The Falafel at Opa’s is one of the best and for a reasonable price.
The first thing I noticed here was how affordable it is! I got a gyro for $9.95 which was stuffed with plenty of meat and veggies. The waitress was happy to swap out tzatziki for baba ghanoush on the 3 dips plate + dolmas which I think are all made in house. This place is awesome I will definitely be back!
Best humus for many miles. Good people. Nice place.
Great food, was pleased with the serving sized and the quality, am excited to eat here more.
Great food, staff, prices, and portion sizes
Wow - really good food! Falafel were perfectly crisp, not greasy and had lots of flavor and good texture. The spanakopita was flaky and flavorful and not oily like at so many other places. Just a really good meal. We ate out front with our dog; service was friendly and efficient. Also - just get the s'mores crepe!
Great Greek food! It’s a Kingston staple. I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve tried a good portion of the menu. My fave’s include the Athena pita, the falafel with tzatziki in place of hummus, the Greek wings, Greek fries, the fig salad, the opas mixed plate, the lamb chops, cyclops burger, gyro cheese burger, and the kids chicken fingers. One of these days I’ll get around to having desserts here, I’m always so full from my meal!!!
By far, the greatest Greek restaurant in the United States. I was impressed by the high level of authentic Greek cuisine, all freshly prepared and delicious. I was pleased with the staff’s thorough knowledge of allergens and readiness to substitute dishes. Service was impeccable, staff were all friendly and seem to enjoy working there. Cleanliness was exceptional both in all observed areas including the bathrooms. Enjoy!
Growing up in Kingston, I can tell you that this for sure has some of the best (if not THE best) food in the area. Best hummus, and amazing spicy feta. Falafel is not too dry and has a nice crunch, gyro meat is super tasty. Highly recommend coming here if you’re in the area. Fast service and always very kind.
I recently dined at Opa Greek Gyro and had an absolutely fantastic experience! The food was incredibly delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonably priced it was. The staff was not only friendly but also very attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. If you're a fan of Greek food, this place is a must-visit. I highly recommend Opa Greek Gyro for its superb cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.
Delicious! Absolutely one of the best gyros I’ve ever had! Service was quick and the gyro was incredible. I’ll be back!
Fantastic! The closest thing to eating in Greece that I've come across. Home made recipes, flavors, and hospitality you can only find in the Agean sea. I couldn't stop eating, that's when you know it's great.
Hands down the best Greek food in the area! I happily drive over an hour because it's worth every mile. The flavors are authentic, fresh, and perfectly executed. Everything I've ordered has been outstanding, from the classics to whatever daily special catches my eye. If you're craving real Greek cuisine, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend! You literally can't go wrong here!"
It’s my third time coming here and I always love coming! Me and my mom came last week. We didn’t get them this time but the stuffed grape leaves this time, but they are delicious! This time me and my mom got the Alibaba which was delicious especially because we couldn’t decide between gyro and falafel. I recommend. I do think it could use something because it just tastes like they should be something maybe tzatziki. I don’t know. Otherwise everything was great, the workers are nice and welcoming it’s a quieter restaurant, at least when we were there. The inside has simple decor nothing crazy and it’s a cute, easy, and yummy little place to go when you’re on a trip and want a bite. Definitely recommend and I will be coming back!
Food was excellent and I want to go back! I highly recommend getting the Greek iced coffee. It was frothy and strong and tasted amazing. We also ordered the dip appetizer. It's not listed as such on the menu but I recommend getting the babaganoush in place of the 'red caviar salad'. It's some of the best babaganoush I've tried, but wish the portion size was larger (or cost less, it was $17). I don't even like dolma/grape leaves that much but even they were great. I recommend the Horiatiki (village) salad to share. A spoonful of that salad to accompany your meal adds a wonderful fresh component. The gyro was flavorful, pita was soft, and the meat was tender enough for my 15 month old to eat it easily. Overall, food tasted fresh with great flavor and our server was phenomenal. We had a high chair in the back corner near the restroom. It's a smaller place and I don't know how handicapped friendly it is as the bathroom is small (there's 2 doors to get to it, a wheelchair wouldn't fit) and a single unisex stall. We brought cash so we didn't have to pay the surcharge for using a credit card. Serving sizes aren't huge and left us wanting a little more for the cost but I still want to go back because it was delicious. If the owner is reading this, please don't skimp on portion sizes. Especially the dip appetizer? More food should come with that, it is not enough and we quickly ate it. If it wasn't somewhat pricey, I would have ordered a second one.
This place is awesome! The gyros are amazing. We got the frappe and it was very strong in the best way. My friend was very pleased with the cyclops burger. The moussaka felt very traditional. The Greek salad was wonderful and the entrees came with a very nice triangle of feta. The staff was extremely attentive, kind, and respectful. The wait times were extremely reasonable as well. Absolutely go and try Opa! They are a bit on the more expensive side but very worth it.
Decent local Greek spot. Service was super friendly, although they were out of the appetizer I really wanted. Moussaka was good and the dolmades felt homemade. All in all, a good meal. Would return.
I usually get share the gyro plate with whoever I go with and then we each get a sweet crepe. The food's great. It's not too loud or busy, and the service is alright.
Visited Opa last weekend. I was walking by to go to the Farmer's Market and got sucked into the delicious smell wafting out of the reestaurant onto the street. I decided I wanted to go back and get some food after the Farmer's market. As a pescatarian (mostly vegetarian), I love basic Greek foods and appetizers like Hummus, Falafal, grape leaves, etc. I tried all of these foods and I am sorry to say that with one exception (the Falafel, the quality was just not that good. The Hummus tasted too watery. the grape leaves were clearly from an old can of grape leaves. Still, for anyone that doesn't know good Greek food, I am sure that this place is OK. maybe the meat dishes are very good?
Great atmosphere, great food, wonderful staff. I really enjoy this place. Only critique was that the one time I ordered the lemon sorbet it was Rock solid so I had to let it set for a moment before I could eat it. It was still very good though, but I'd recommend the crepes for dessert instead. So yummy! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying out the rest of the menu.
The food and atmosphere are really enjoyable. Definitely try out their Hercules gyro but in a crepe. Changed my life... I still think about it once in a while. Not to mention their dessert crepes 😭. I rated it 4 stars because I feel like the prices could be lower but this place is highly recommended regardless.
Delicious Greek food, everything i have ordered is great. Intimate dining great for a date
Glad my party all agreed to go here for lunch, it's an easy choice. The food is always good, there is something for everyone, it's clean, friendly service and peaceful restoring atmosphere.
Adequate at a pinch. Small portions for medium high pricing. Plates filled up with rice and lettuce. A pleasant environment. Rushed during weekend dinner time. Did not check their wine list. Not sure about reservations.
Decent portions, good food, good service.
Food was delicious, service was great. Very small place but worth it
In quaint Kingston downtown. It’s a chain so staple menu items. Waitress was not so friendly barely made eye contact. Asked us if we were ready to order after just minutes of sitting down. Small space so definitely needing to turn tables. Ordered the open faced gyro, pretty good, pita was soft, good fries, nice seasoning on the meat. Good potion of tzatziki sauce. Kind of like a Greek version of Olive Garden. But smaller space. Just personal preference to go to more local than chains. But solid place just friendlier service would be nice!
First time at Opa! and I was not impressed. I felt excited when I saw the Gyro meat on the spit but that was premature. So I got a Gyro for takeout. First of all, it would have been nice to include a napkin with my order, alas. I will say that the pita was very generously stuffed with meat, however, it was quite dry and many pieces were cut way too thick. Also, it was unusually salty, so I was glad I got some extra tzatziki sauce without which it might not have been edible. My best guess is that gyros have not been a hot seller today and the meat kind of dried out on the spit, also concentrating the saltiness. Oh well, I can cross this place off my list.
I ordered the Mousaka. It was served with a greek salad and plenty of rice. The mousaka was good, I enjoyed it! The rice was fluffy, but just this side of plain white rice. A little more flavor would be appreciated. The calamari was over cooked. Hard, not tough. I wouldn't order them again. I was with my friend who ordered falafel, which also had salad, but barely ate any of it. She didn't say anything other than she was disappointed. I had to bring her elsewhere to get something to eat. We both had eaten salad and calamari and both had upset stomachs shortly afterwards. I would try it again to see if ordering something else would be better.
The food was fine but the little cup of salad dressing was weirdly placed on top of the salad instead of to the side (they piled the whole salad on a plate that was too small) so it toppled off onto my lap. Not a great look for the rest of the day.
The food is good but the ventilation is terrible. every time I leave there after lunch I smell like I've been working in front of a french fry pit. I literally have to wash everything to get the greasy smell out.
I must try everyone s Greek salad. I'm always used to cucumber Greek dressing, not balsamic? One piece of chicken?(seemed light) 2 small triangular feta cheese pieces( also light portion) & a plate to small to cut it up on, it kept falling on the table but overall it was a good salad.
Portions for entrees are ridiculously small and prices are high. I used to love this place but no more. $22 for 4 small shrimp and 4 small scallops, rice and salad on one plate. Pastitsio serving is the size of a deck of cards. They add a 3% cc surcharge making this even more expensive and not worth it. I don't mind paying for good food but this is just ok. Pita and Gyros are better options. Should have stuck with that as before. This is not the place to go for a good dinner but okay for quick lunch.
So an honest review, the food is really good but a few things drove me nuts about this place. First is I have no problem paying for what I order, but you charged me $2.25 on a Diet Coke (fountain) and than charged me for a refill on a glass that was 3/4 full of ice that drives me nuts. Also, another patron was upset his gyro wasn’t but the manager or owner was in the kitchen talking about this for 20+ minutes which is rude when your trying to enjoy a dinner he made the other people feel really embarrassed and it wasn’t right. Simple rule in the restaurant business if someone isn’t happy make it right. Good food though gyro meat was amazing but it goes back to service or quality and in my experience here the two collide.
Food was good, but different from the last time we were there. Don't know if they have a new cook, but it seems the gyros lack taste, the Calamari were over cooked and the grilled octopus was mushy. we've been eating there for several years and never had tasted the food so different. We'll give it another shot, maybe they had a bad day.
So I absolutely love this place! The food is awesome! However the staff a total different story. They are rude. You order food to pick up at the counter and they expect a tip no matter what. If I sit down to eat and you help me yes you deserve a tip but if I come pick the food up myself and all you do it hand it to me sorry no tip needed you didn’t do anything extra to deserve a tip! Also they took more than a week to process my card. When I called to ask about it, like why if this is normal for them ect the employee on the phone literally just said idk I just work here. How unprofessional! I asked to speak with someone who would know and she just replied oh the guy was out so they didn’t process anything till now. Ik legally they have 30 days to process the transaction however I just think it’s weird and inconvenient that they just wait over a week! They ended up putting me into the negative as I wasn’t expecting that charge right then! Beyond unprofessional employees! Awesome food! I hope they get new staff members!
My wife and I were looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch on Saturday and we heard about this place on Wall Street in Kingston, NY, so we decided to try it. A nice little place that looks small but actually widens up when you get further in. The staff is very friendly and we were greeted by everyone as we came in and as we left. However, our review of the food is meh. I ordered a falafel pita sandwich and my wife had the chicken avocado pita sandwich. While the falafel was good, it didn't blow me away and seemed pretty ordinary. Also, the falafel and the lettuce, tomato, onion & tzatziki were on top of the pita, not inside it, which I found made the eating messy. I have had falafel in NYC many times and the places that I have gone have sliced the pita in half and put the makings inside the pockets. My wife had the same reaction to her pita, wondering why the fixings were on top of the pita and not inside. She also thought that the amount of chicken was pretty sparse and had an odd taste to it. We didn't get any dessert since my wife is allergic to nuts and almost everything had some kind of nuts. We just didn't feel there was really anything special about the food (which is not inexpensive) and it didn't make us want a return visit.
Ordered takeout. Order was ready when promised. Chicken Souvlaki was good but sauce could have been much better. Greek salad was mostly Romaine lettuce and onions. Had exactly one Greek olive. Was just okay and not really worth the price. This place was okay but a bit disappointing.
I have always ordered gyros from here but haven't ordered in awhile since moving to Catskill. I was in town and desired to order. First, when I called I thought I had called the wrong number because the lady who answered the phone just said hello and didn't acknowledge the name of the restaurant. My next disappointment came when I bit into the gyro. The bread was so hard and the meat seemed old. I was definitely disappointed! I have never had this experience in the past.
Below average food. Sure some was previously frozen. Not what was on the menu. Relatively bland. Know what Greek food should be living in Astoria for many years.
I have over 30yrs. Of restaurant experience so take it as you will.. arrived 50 minutes before closing. Not ideal but still acceptable. Atmosphere was great, food not bad. Server was another issue. Never checked back after presenting food. Did not inquire for drink refills.( I had wine so this was a big miss for a larger bill) around closing I went to find her for bill, paid, searched for her for the box request I had made earlier, stood behind her as she complained it a coworker of a $17 tip on a $109 bill. Point is that she clearly had absolutely no understanding that the tip would have been higher if she had paid any attention to her table after food delivery instead of being overly focused on her closing work and getting out of there. Being in this industry for so many years and training new hires as my role, I was shocked to hear her lack of professionalism and understanding of how she handled herself.
Opa Greek Bistro Kingston N.Y when Opa opened several year's ago the food was consistent, fresh, large portion, delicious. Now several years forward , I have been disappointed on many occasions, the service is slow, wait staff lack attentiveness, professionalism. Some days the food is a hit or miss ,food is not consistent and quality has diminished gyro at times is dry, salmon doesn't taste as fresh as it should and salad lacks greek vinegar and spices.the portions are extremely small. In this day as a restaurant owner you want to keep your regular customer, we customer expect consistent fresh delicious food no matter, even if inflation occurs, restaurant must be consistent and provide delicious experience. My family is extremely disappointed ,a restaurant should not have miss or hit experience.
Tasteless. Lowest possible quality food. Greek salad was served with a tiny sliver of feta. For Pete's sake, charge a buck more and put out a chunk of feta.
I can actually believe that it would take 30 minutes to prepare a falafel sandwich during dinnertime. But the fact that during the 30 minutes I was waiting for my food two other customers around me sat down and ordered and received their food before me makes me not want to wait. I'm sure the food is good but the service was so terrible I can't be bothered to find out.
Not recommended for anyone with food allergies! I took my 3 year old son here today and asked if they had rice. I explained his allergies to dairy and egg and the server told me it was just plain rice. When she brought it to the table, I had the urge to confirm "so there's no butter in this?" To which she replied "oh wait, actually there might be" and took it back to the kitchen where she was told yes, there was butter in it. We rarely go out to eat for fear of this scenario. Had he eaten the rice, we would have had to use his epipen and call an ambulance. It's 2023, there has got to be MORE TRAINING ON FOOD ALLERGIES for restaurant staff! I called the manager to make him aware and while he apologized, he seemed eager to get off the phone with me. He said "we don't normally get people with food allergies here, just people who want Greek food". (Those two things aren't mutually exclusive 🤦🏼♀️) My only reason for writing this review is to potentially save someone a hospital trip or worse. Please, do better.
I was on vacation, so this was my first time ordering food. I ordered 3 Gryos. The bread seemed stale and not grilled at all, the meat was enough meat but only 2 of the sandwich’s got 1 tomato, mine didn’t have one, and there was no lettuce, and the tzatziki sauce was to thick! I als ordered spanakopita, it came in a coil, it was all filo dough, and barely any filling! We also ordered pistachio and moussaka, there was absolutely no red sauce and it’s the pieces were small , definitely not a dinner portion which we ordered. And it seemed old one bite we threw it away.! what a waste of $90! My family hadn’t been there in a few years and they told me used to be good but sadly not any more. Definitely do not recommend this place at all.
My wife has ordered food from here more than 10 times while at work and always got “the fat Greek” with chicken instead of lamb. We went to lunch and dined in. She told the waitress she want the •the fat Greek with chicken “. She ended up bring lamb. When my wife told her the order was wrong she said it only comes with lamb and that she could take the sandwich home or throw it out but she had to pay for it. She then told her she could order something different that came with chicken. Poor service never been told that we had to pay for something we didn’t order. We will never go back or order there again.
I have no problem paying top dollar for quality food. But the portion sizes are extremely small at this restaurant. I was charged $23 for 6 stuffed grape leaves and 6 chicken wings a couple months ago and tonight I was charged $14 for a small portion of calamari. The food is delicious but I refuse to be overcharged anymore.
