Great local café, awesome food and great atmosphere. Must visit if you looking for breakfast or lunch. Tried chickenini and garden omelete.
Best bagel I’ve ever had!! Mediterranean bagel. 🥯 Guy that was in the front was awesome!! He was handling everyone’s order quickly and quality. Parking was easy and there seating inside and outside. Price was very good as well. We spent around 25$ for our breakfast.
Stayed nearby and passed by here for breakfast on the last day. The food is super delicious and there are so many options to choose from! I asked for a recommendation since there were so many options and loved it, I’m sure the other menu items would be just as delicious. The owner is so nice and you can tell there are lots of regular customers. There are also some patio seats if you prefer eating outside. Would definitely pass by again if visiting in the future!
Café Vahik is a great place to get breakfast! They have a high-quality menu with something for everyone. We especially enjoyed the healthy Mediterranean options--the omelets were delicious! Vahik is very nice and works hard to provide a good experience for his customers. Atmosphere is chill and cozy. We look forward to coming back!
The California bagel was absolutely delicious! Each ingredient was perfectly ripe and harmoniously combined to create an exceptional sandwich. The bagels were toasted to perfection, and the shack bagel featured a delightful combination of ingredients, topped with an expertly seasoned egg. The gentleman behind the counter was exceptionally courteous and accommodating. It was a fantastic way to begin the day!
Love this spot! We stayed near by and came every day for breakfast. Quick, delicious, and reasonably priced- can’t get better than that!
Very efficient and affordable! The amount of fish in my sandwich is astonishing!! The omelette is not bad either. Even though the price has gone up 25% from the menu 4 years ago, it’s still cheap compared with other places. You get paper plates and plastic utensils but no mandatory tips. Come here if you stay nearby.
I was there for a few days at the Shoal and this was my go-to spot. Cahill offers a hospitality as if he’s known you for years. The food was amazing and everything I tried on the menu was great. The prices were the best I came across and this was definitely a core memory for me in my first time going to La Jolla I’ll always remember this cafe.
Had a nice lunch here. A yellowtail fish sandwich really hit the spot. Delightful husband and wife owners were very friendly. I will go back when I'm in the area.
I absolutely love this cafe. I have been here twice about one year about and both experiences were great. The first time I came, I was lucky enough to try the Seabass ceviche and it was incredible. I had the lox bagel my most recent visit. Only down sides it’s extremely busy sometimes and a small environment but it a unique atmosphere. Other times it’s not as busy and I was lucky enough to talk to the man running the place. He takes so many orders while simultaneously making coffee and food, feeding the locals of San Diego! I went home and added caviar to my lox bagel for my birthday …. Delish.
Enjoyed an everything bagel with lox and a breakfast burrito, which my son (who eats a lot of breakfast burritos) claimed was one of the best breakfast burritos he's had. There is seating inside and outside.

Delish chai latte and chocolate muffin. Quick friendly service and nice vibe.

Vahik (the owner) is direct and friendly. Good Mayan mocha and baja burrito. No frills local place at reasonable price.
Coming from the midwest, we were up early and happy to find a place close to our lodging open at 6am. It was quiet with a nice outdoor patio. My husband's breakfast burrito was huge and delicious. I had a breakfast bagel sandwich, and it was just what I needed.
LOVE this place. You will never the quality of the food the amount and the price. Ive been going here for years. The owner and his wife are fantastic
I stopped by this bagel place for the first time and absolutely loved it! The guy at the front was super nice and funny, made the whole experience even better. It has that warm, family-owned vibe, and you can tell it’s a local favorite because so many of the customers already knew exactly what they wanted. I had the Mediterranean bagel, and it was delicious, fresh, flavorful, and really satisfying. I wish I took a photo before I finished it lol I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in San Diego. Highly recommend!
Best breakfast! The omelets have such a great flavor. We are here 5 days and we kept going back. No need to explore further. Owner friendly and remembered us after the first day. Awesome food and drinks (Chai Latte great).
I had such a wonderful breakfast experience here! The food was absolutely tasty and the location is perfect. A special shoutout to the owner, Vahik—he is such a great person and incredibly friendly. He really made us feel welcome. Highly recommend stopping by

Good spot for a quick bite! You’re best to stick to the menu exactly and not ask for modifications. Vahik is busy pushing out orders and doesn’t really have time to make modifications. Adding an egg to our sandwich was an additional $4! The lox sandwich was delicious and we subbed out the cream cheese for the red pesto (for an additional $1) and I really enjoyed it. Lots of young gen x’s here probably due to the speed and low prices.

This place is just ok. Service is not nice, the people that attend here are rude. The sandwiches are good, but not extraordinary. This may not be my first option for this kind of food. 3/5. Edit: service has gotten better, the sandwishes are really nice, tbh. The place is not nice, they need to do better: be more careful in tidiness. 4/5.
So I had ordered only drinks from this place and I am staying at a nearby hotel. The drinks are what you would expect from a cafe. But here is the reason I’m giving 3 stars. The espresso. It was bad. The main guy is super friendly, and I have nothing to say bad about the atmosphere. But as for the espresso which is the basis for lots of coffee drinks. It is bitter. I watched the main guy make a shot in under 8 seconds. If you know a thing or two about espresso, you know you need ample time to make one properly (~25 sec), even if you have the best machine in the world. It still takes longer than he took. I know some home machines can do it 10 seconds but that’s because they have much more pressure, usually 20 bar. He had at least a $3000 machine. I know because I looked it up online to see how much it cost. And the result from how he made it is what you would expect, bitter. Now I know it isn’t by no means easy. Everyone struggles with it. But for the base of lots of drinks, no matter how much you try to drown it out with cream and sugar or whatever. The bitter taste will persist if it is strong enough. So that’s why I’m giving three stars. Maybe it was just my shot. But that’s my experience there. Also, I have visited two other places in the area, Rosemont’s cafe and Immersion Cofee. And they also do not have good espresso just fyi if you are looking for some.
