Amazing atmosphere and the food/drinks are EXCEPTIONAL. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, their warmth will make you smile. If you haven’t been here yet, trust me and make your way to La Jolla for this gem. It’s giving old world charm, luxury and comfort.💋🖤💋🖤
Came here with our out of town guests to get a coffee break while walking La Jolla Cove. It is a beautiful gathering area with plenty of room. They offer many food items and coffee drinks to chose from. I can honestly say it's the nicest coffee shop I've ever been to. It made our day extra special!!
I really like this place and it makes a really chill late night study spot, but I HATE the music. FOR HOURS it's just a loop of trance covers of pop songs like "Dance Monkey" and "I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee)". I don't think I need to give any more examples of why I think the music SUCKS. I forgot my headphones which was completely avoidable but I feel like I am a trapped mosquito in a cup being forced to listen to Bad Bunny's music as a punishment for biting my captor's son and slurping his blood. Do you get it? I will continue to come here because it's lit and the White Hot Chocolate is fire, but the music has GOT TO GO. Please literally ANYTHING else. There is 110% a Millennial on AUX and I would say no hate, but YES HATE to the music (not the individual you're just a middle-aged soul you can't help it) because I hate the music and it makes my internal environment hostile rather than chill (the feelings a cafe should nurture). I hope management sees this review because it's something that has been commented on by every single person I have brought here (SIXTEEN people). I pray that many haters coming forward is enough to MUTE this horrid playlist. I don't know if someone is just trying to promote their own music but please do it elsewhere. I am sure you can find your target audience in a Rite Aid or Sears. Again no hate to this place but hate to the music. Unfortunately I will have to give the atmosphere 4 stars as a result to reflect my sentiments. Love you Living Room, just not your music.
I celebrated my 50th birthday at Living Room last night, and it was an absolutely exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, everything felt top of the line. The ambiance is elegant and beautifully decorated, creating a warm yet upscale vibe that makes any occasion feel special. The food was outstanding — every dish was flavorful, perfectly prepared, and clearly made with care. The service was impeccable: attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. Everything about the night exceeded my expectations, from the atmosphere to the food and the overall experience. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate such a meaningful milestone. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Cute spot. The entryway caught my eye when I was driving by. I went late at night and they must have had a group meeting of some sort going on that night. There were about 50 people or so there. Seating was limited that night but otherwise the place looks roomy and unique. I got a hot drink and a sweet treat (which were good) so I can't say much about food other than what I got.
This is by far the best study spot i've found in San Diego. The atmosphere is great and there is usually live music Friday and Saturday nights. The staff is super friendly and helpful as well. Shout out to the nice bald barista, that guy is the best!
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to this delightful establishment. The atmosphere was truly welcoming and provided a perfect setting for relaxation. The culinary offerings were exceptional, with each dish prepared to perfection. Furthermore, the coffee served was of outstanding quality, enhancing the overall experience. We highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone seeking a memorable outing.. staff was polite and very helpful. I strongly recommend this place to visit.
We came here on Friday night for their late night music and had a great time. The music and food were both amazing! We shared some dishes and my favorite was the baba ganoush / dips platter, Greek salad and truffle fries. I’ll definitely be back to try other items on the menu! If you come on Friday night for the entertainment definitely make reservations ahead of time.
I was looking for a late night coffee spot and came across this place. I was pleasantly surprised to learn they serve food as well. The mushroom swiss burger with garlic aioli was delicious. The service was on point and Dani and Suzie were super friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back!
Very impressed especially after reading some negative reviews. Inside is very large and beautiful with lots of space to sit. Raspberry chocolate latte was excellent and so was the tea. Skillet was exceptional too, and we also enjoyed our scone. Friendly service but we ordered off the kiosk which was a nice option since the menu is so large. Definitely coming back.

While the menu has a lot of unrelated food items (is it breakfast? Italian? Middle Eastern?), the portions are generous and fresh served in a relaxed setting. Wonderful!
Came here twice for breakfast during a recent stay in La Jolla. First time I had their Sunrise bagel with bacon, which was generous with the bacon. Second time had their Club Croissant, which…
This looked like a warm and inviting place to have lunch and it turned out to be very relaxing with the music they were playing . Everything was great except every single table was taken by kids on their laptops either doing homework or playing games. We got the last table that was dirty but they came right away and cleaned it. I guess don’t go after 2:00 because it’s catered to coffee drinkers with laptops. I only saw 3 tables with some kind of food. Many people walked in looking for tables to sit down and eat and nothing was available so they left. The Sicilian Muffuletta was very good and tasty, and huge, it definitely shareable.
The Living Room Café has such a cozy, vintage-cute vibe with its seating and decor—perfect for a relaxed stop during a La Jolla walk. Their chai tea latte is definitely the star here, rich and flavorful, one of the best I’ve had in the area. The desserts are decent—not the absolute best, but still enjoyable and a nice complement to the drinks. Honestly, I’d come back mainly for the chai latte—it’s worth the visit.

Dirty dingy dive. Food is ok. People are nice. They don't clean up much. Upstairs is a vape place smells like cigar. All old dingy furniture. Must be its charm.
The coffee is great but man, they need to clean their bathroom. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. It's not that hard for a manager to give this responsibility to the daily employees.
I stopped in one morning and had Quiche Lorraine and enjoyed it. The coffee is very good also. Fun, funky dining room too.

A cute, spacious coffee spot in the heart of LJ that is also open late. The pastry and coffee were alright for the prices. The place has a residual smoke smell from the adjacent smoking area.
My friend and I have wanted to come here for awhile so we went on a Thursday morning. It was not super busy and we ordered. A few minutes later one of the cashiers came and told us that the food we had ordered wasn’t actually available. We decided to try and order something else but waited to get refunded. The blonde cashier definitely was helpful, however both dishes came out missing items that we had ordered. Depending on where you sit the wifi is also not great. We may come back but unfortunately it was a medium experience. The tea was great though if you want a quick in and out.

This place sucks, it’s an over priced Internet cafe where you take your own order. But don’t worry you can still tip with minimal to no human interaction. O it’s also gross and rundown
I had been a loyal customer at this location for quite some time, but my most recent visit ensured it will be my last. On Saturday, January 31st, 2026, my wife and I stopped in, spent over $50 on food and drinks, and planned to sit for a while to get some work done. Before we could even settle in, the owner, Sam Azzu, approached our table and immediately accused me of bringing in a to-go cup from the competitor across the street. The problem? It wasn’t from another café at all. Rather than asking politely or clarifying the situation, he jumped straight into a lecture about “lounging around” and “using up all the Wi-Fi.” This was directed at two customers who had literally just spent money there and intended to stay and work after their meal. The tone was aggressive, dismissive, and completely unnecessary. Even after I calmly explained that the assumption about the cup was incorrect, the conversation didn’t de-escalate. Instead, the owner became increasingly irritated, turning what should have been a quick misunderstanding into an awkward public confrontation. The entire exchange happened in front of my wife and other nearby customers, who looked just as uncomfortable as we felt. There’s a difference between enforcing policies and publicly scolding paying customers over an incorrect assumption. If the goal was simply to clarify a rule about outside drinks, a polite sentence would have handled it in ten seconds. Instead, it felt like we were being treated as freeloaders in a place where we had just spent over $50. What stood out most was the apparent frustration about customers “taking up space.” That’s a strange message to send in a café environment where people commonly sit, talk, work, and spend time after ordering. Hospitality is supposed to make guests feel welcome, not like they’re being monitored for how long they occupy a chair. Unfortunately, based on other reviews describing similar interactions, this doesn’t appear to be an isolated moment of poor judgment. It seems more like a pattern of reactive management and unnecessary confrontation. We came in expecting a normal café experience. Instead, we left feeling like we had been reprimanded for existing in the space after supporting the business. There are plenty of places that understand the basics of hospitality and treat their customers with courtesy. This location, sadly, is no longer one of them.
I simply went got a 7 dollar over priced croissant and sat there to do my work for 1 hour and suddenly got kicked out by the bald worker there who said I had to leave there were people waiting. I stated I bought food and the people around me where here for far longer than I was studying as well and the guy didn’t believe me and said I had to leave. I was minding my business completely quiet bought my food and was studying. Terrible experience, terrible atmosphere, terrible service. Don’t recommend
LR used to be the spot for all of us to work and study—great atmosphere, plenty of table space, and now the new location is even bigger. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The bathrooms are the dirtiest I’ve ever seen. Floors are visibly dirty within an hour of opening, clearly leftover from the night before. This is La Jolla—an upscale community—and the space should be maintained accordingly. The food is another letdown. LR East San Diego does a great job, but here the quality drops significantly beyond the pastries. The coffee, however, is outstanding—both coffee and tea are excellent. The internet is unreliable, which defeats the purpose of being a work/study space. On top of that, one staff member (a dark, long-haired woman) was notably unprofessional and poorly suited for customer service. Fix these issues, and many of us would happily become regulars again. This place has real potential—it just needs to get its basics right.
I truly regret bringing my Italian friend here for a cup of espresso. What they served didn’t even resemble espresso—it looked off and tasted even worse. Honestly, it was undrinkable, even by americano standards. The flavor was dirty and unpleasant. If you genuinely enjoy good coffee, this is not the place. And definitely don’t bring someone who knows what real espresso should taste like.
