We love Tappi and usually very good sometimes excellent! Some of the chefs add some special effort to presentation arranging maki in flower shapes etc.
Had an amazing first-time experience at this sushi spot! Our server was “B” and she was knowledgeable, guiding me through the menu with excellent recommendations. The sushi was fresh, and the service made the meal even more enjoyable. Can't wait to return the next time I visit SD!
I just want to start off by saying great food service. i had a young lady named zara i believe and she was such a sweetheart. i came in not knowing what to order because i am visiting from another state and she was such a respectful young lady who helped me navigate through the menu and suggested a few dishes and she DID NOT disappoint me at all. Such a wonderful experience and great staff will def recommend to friends. Also great service.
Must try the Scorpion king Roll it's amazing 👏.
The food is always amazing and the servers are so nice ! I always come here for date nights and my birthday :) very affordable and newly renovated it looks so fancy!!
Have reviewed this place before, sushi was fantastic as always. Went on Father's Day, got there about 1100. Was just one server working the floor. Didn't catch her name, but she handled 10 different tables and didn't miss a beat! Had an amazing attitude, smiling and attentive though extremely overtasked. Tipped well, deserved it!
Tappi sushi is the best sushi place I have ever gone to! The staff is absolutely amazing! They remember me by name and remember my roll too! If you haven't been here you must be living under a rock. I recommend this place to my friends and family. Kelly, Eric and Jonathan are like a second family because I go there so much! Great customer service and great food. The food is decently priced and delicious!!!
This was my first time eating here and let me say it was an amazing experience. I ordered the Spicy California Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll. The atmosphere was very relaxing and I loved watching them make my sushi right in front of me. I would definitely recommend this place!
Delicious food and a great atmosphere. We had the gyōza and California roll for appetizer and the tonkatsu pork ramen and the teriyaki chicken for entrees and it was all delicious.
This is a great neighborhood sushi joint that offers eat-in or take-out options for fresh sushi/sashimi/poke bowls as well as cooked dishes. Prices are fair for sushi which means expect to spend $15-20+ per person but the food is worth it! They have a nice atmosphere and bar style seating in front of the sushi chef. Take a bite, you won't be disappointed!!
We were here for our monthly-versary! This place is ahmazing! We had the honeymoon shooters. They were out of Uni so we added shrimp. It was happy hour and we got the yummy 8 PC sashimi, which included Albacore, Salmon, Yellowtail, and tuna. It was presented beautifully with a flower, carrots, lemon slices, and green onions. The only thing missing was the authentic Wasabi. We ordered Ikura, and I was thrilled because Ikura (salmon eggs) have been scarce recently. TRY the chili green beans. It's a wonderful way to start the meal. We also ordered the sake bomb for $10 on the happy hour menu that includes a cute mini sake and a 4.3 fl oz Sapporo beer. We had Daniella as a server, she was wonderful. TRY the Helix Roll!
My favorite neighborhood go to!! Servers and the sushi chefs are Top Notch! Happy hour almost all the time. Ask for your sashimi Tappi's way, you will not be disappointed.
Good food! Highly comparable to Isushi near Southwest College. I will add this place into my list of frequents. Service was kind of slow but not terrible. Fairly empty for Saturday brunch. Really enjoyable for a small group!
Sushi is decently priced and they had a few rolls that were different that I'd like to go back and try. It's a small place in a strip mall that doesn't get too much foot traffic so I'm not sure how crowded they get. Overall good experience and I'd go back to try other rolls.

I’ve lived in Japan for 3 years. This place is like neck to neck with Japan restaurants. Really great food. Best food I’ve come across. Atmosphere is great and food comes out pretty fast. Taste and professionalism is great.
This is the place for sushi rolls. However, I love their chicken Yakisoba noodles. The portuons are generous, you can take some home. The food is delicious and the sevuce is very friendly. My daughter loves to eat here.

There are inconsistencies in the beef udon spice level. This is a recent change because it use to be a nice spice but not too much. I'm not sure if it's because of different cooks but several times we will get udon recently and it's way too spicy and you can see a reddish orange film on top of the broth of the udon that will indicate its too spicy. We actually asked them to make sure they didn't put a lot of spice, and it was extra spicy.
I’ve been coming to this place on and off for the past four years and have always enjoyed good service and quality. However, today was a bit disappointing my six-order Double Trouble came with only five and a half. I mentioned it to the server, but she didn’t really respond.
Tappi has a great selection. Many many rolls to chose from and all very tasty from what I've tried. They also have a full bar. I enjoyed the insanity roll and the shrimp poppers. They have plum wine flavored mochi which was excellent.
Nice place. Cozy inside. Bar, sushi bar, tables. Cocktails. Happy hour. Looks like it's closed from the outside. Chicken Katsu was delicious. I ordered a chicken curry bowl. While tasty, in person the dish wasn't what I'd expected and I still would've ordered it with a modification. The prices were vastly different than in person or on small to go menus. The bowl was online at $10, in reality it was 16.99+tax. Portion was good size. My to go curry didn't come in a bowl container but a regular styrpphone square. And because this is not a chunky curry sauce it was a mess in the bag before it even reached my hands. Bc of the diced nature of the small diced potatoes and the shredded carrot this is quite saucy. Think a thin curry stew. A yummy sauce to be sure. Knowing this I would probably ask for a soup container wrapped in plastic for the sauce to go. if I ordered this dine in, I might still ask for either lighter sauce or on the side. They did attempt to keep sauce to one side of the container so half of each katsu slice touched the sauce. I ended up eating it in my car rather than have a soggy mess when I drove. Worth it taste wise. I'd like to come back and try their sushi and sashimi
Food was pretty good. One of the rolls was a little small. I’ll have to come back to check it out again to get a better taste of the restaurant.
Had an event in the area and did not have high expectations going into a random Japanese restaurant, but the bento and sushi were decent, while the spicy pork belly ramen was surprisingly flavorful!

Great place for single diners. Sushi rolls are excellent but nigiri cuts are thin most of the time. Yesterday was great! I was pleasantly surprised to get nice big cuts on nigiri which made it well worth the price. Wish the cuts were more consistent. I easily visit here 15 times a year because the food is good despite the inconsistent cuts on nigiri. Specials run early in the week and before 3 pm. Huge menu of yummy choices typical for an Asian sushi place. Not noisy considering TVs and music. Easy to hold conversations. Full service alcohol and bottled premium sake available. Wait staff is attentive and friendly.

I heard about this place and decided to try it out. I noticed they are definitely understaffed and waited for my water to be refilled, but no one came by. The second thing was that we ordered tempura and it didn't arrive until after the rest of our food came out. The food, though, seemed a little pricey. I got a couple of handrolls, and I paid $9 for each of them. At other places, I usually paid $7 . They seemed okay, but there was something about the taste I couldn't put my finger on. It tasted off honestly, but I dont know what it was. Honestly okay experience but I probably won't be back.
Great service, and a lengthy happy hour menu with a dollar or two off many popular items. Overall good but the prices trend very high. They have some rolls that are $30 each or more once you add tax and tip. For that price it should be an amazing roll but they are not that impressive. I got one that was supposed to be in a cucumber wrap. It was a quarter inch thick! A cucumber wrap is supposed to be thin as paper. Also, just about everything has shrimp so if you don't like shrimp or you don't eat shellfish, you have to really study the menu to find something that will work, or you have to know how to customize your order. That's a pain. Most sushi restaurants have more fish options. There are also kitchen options of course, but I did not try them.
First timers, ordered to go. Food was old. Everything was dry and tasteless. Should not have served us those leftovers. Very disappointing.
They can do better in the hot weather we are experiencing by closing their doors to keep the restaurant cool. Besides, number of flies were in the restaurant with open doors - not good for a sushi place! Also, please use clean rags to wipe tables as they were all streaky - attracting flies. It can be a good place with just these minor changes. Thx.
Server was friendly and accomodating. Ordered the chef's special sashimi and the salmon was the only thing that tasted and felt good enough. Half shell oysters tasted decent. The jalapeno poppers were amazing but too spicy for my taste. Strawberry martini was good according to my wife. Sin City roll was good and my Padres roll was huge and alright. They have a lot of choices in their menu and it took a bit to choose which one to order. Atmosphere was nice and the inside of the restaurant looks clean. Everything was a nice experience except for majority of the food that we ordered.
Good flavors but all my rolls fell apart and they were a bit smaller in size. Here are the Protine roll and the black&yellow. The soy beans were over cooked and mushy.
Unfortunately our entree didn't have much flavor and the Lava Role was rather tasty but the presentation was sloppy. We didn't care to finish the miso soup. The Gyosa/Pot Stickers were fried which simply came as a surprise. Our bottle of sake was delicious and was highly recommendation by our server.

I ordered a togo order of almost $200 worth of food. And it told me to come after 30 min. My wife had to wait another 30 min because they were still making the orders. It wasn't much, 2 bento boxes, some rolls ( none cooked) and some easy sides like garlic edamame and bok choy. I've never dined in this restaurant and based on the take out order I probably would never come in. For the price the serving was quite small for what you could get at other sushi places. I ordered Katsu for my bento because you can go wrong with that , but the chicken was dry I had to dip it in sauce to make it palatable. Maybe there is less care that goes into take out orders? Not sure. They even forgot one salad for the bento boxes but my wife should of double checked it also since it was like a 10 item order.
Food was okay. Nothing special here. Service was mediocre. It you want a cheap lunch and you're in the area it is not the worst place... Just dont come for dinner time... everything is overpriced and not that great.

The staff here are pleasant. Food is made to order. My issue is that these rolls are overpriced and underwhelming. Plus, I ordered takeout and the rolls didn't look worth the prices. One of the rolls I ordered, it was either the Protein or Tappi roll (whichever has a green sauce on top) was DRENCHED in sauce. Like the bottle cap fell off and all the sauce flooded the box or they were really trying to cover something up. None of the rolls I ordered were memorable or else I'd mention which one I actually liked.
Not good. Service person was fine. Table wasn't clean. Teriyaki chicken had no flavor. Other items did not seem fresh. California roll fell apart. Unfortunately took my out of town guest. They commented on how bad it was as well. Very expensive for the quality. Will not be going back.
Not the worst. More like a 7 out of 10. This was back in January 2021. Not a very skilled group owner. Sushi was okay. Could have been 500 times better if they knew how to serve it. Sushi was way to cold to serve, waitresses acted like thye were doing us a favor, and the sushi chef had some wierd impolite vibe to him. Not sure I can put a handle on it, but it was all in the attitude. They did not mess anyhting up, but it was nto a quality experieicne either. Seems like this there is a 50/50 chance of getting an okay meal. Nothing great. I may go a few mroe times to test whether it was the employees at the time, or simply poor management. The people givning this place GREAT review need to go to a hi-end sushi place. There is no comparison, but for East county, eh, it's okay.
I got take out. The girl who helped me was nice, but the food is not good. I got teriyaki chicken, it would've been much better and much cheaper had I gone to panda express. Don't recommend.

The oysters were not put in effort it was done very lazy . The waitresses were snobby and not helpful just all bad vibes . The food was just bland . I do not recommend coming here it’s not worth spending 140$ for a family of 5. The place was super cold to even dine in and eat dinner it was a terrible atmosphere.
I’ve sadly been to this place a few times and I keep wanting to like it. I cut restaurants a lot of slack when it comes to service and food quality having worked in the industry for years, but this place needs some serious attitude adjustments, for starters. The sushi has been good but the cooked food is definitely sub-par. Veggies are hard, rice and the “steak” tasted like liver and was very chewy. The owner seems to always have a sourpuss and just isn’t not very friendly, and the place is definitely understaffed when it gets busy. We even mentioned we had a birthday, at our party and while it was stated, it was totally unrecognized by staff. I won’t be back to sit in their stagnant and sticky/warm restaurant just to be treated like my business isn’t the slightest bit valued.
I not going to buy from them again they put the hot food in plastic containers which is so dangers and overall expensive we not paying for us to be sick
My family and I usually come to this place 2-4 times a month. Today we went in while it was still happy hour. The items we ordered were from the happy hour menu and I actually pointed out to the waitress what I was getting from the happy hour menu. After eating, I looked at the bill and everything is full price so I inform the waitress that I specifically ordered items on the happy hour menu because it was still happy hour. She said she put the order in at 6:35pm which was five minutes after happy hour ended. She said she would talk to her manager to see what she can do. After she spoke with the manager and then called someone on the phone, she came back to say that the order was put in five minutes late and they could not change it in the computer. I said okay, paid the bill and let her know we would not be back. Which we won't.
I ordered my food and did not arrive what I ordered. Moreover, I tried to fix it over the phone with the restaurant and they weren't able to give me any solution or instance repair my order to go and pick it up. They should put more attention to the orders.
We ordered food worth 160 and they give us disgusting food old black avocados on the roll edamame test funny

We got take out. 3 rolls (2 specialty rolls) and one spicy Tuna. The spicy tuna roll was very fishy…I couldn’t even eat it. It tasted like the tuna or whatever they had put inside was sitting out for a while. The specialty rolls were not what I expected especially for the price you pay. Very small rolls and the fish was not fresh and very fishy. The worst part about our order was the All in One Fried rice. It comes with steak, chicken and shrimp. The portion of the rice was so sadly small…. I literally counted the protein pieces in the rice because of how small it was. No joke, there was only ONE shrimp cut in half to make it look like two pieces of shrimp in there, I counted 5 pieces of steak bite and 6 pieces of the driest chicken I have tasted. The fried rice was super oily and had absolutely no flavor. I am sooo disappointed in this place and I hope they do better especially for the price that people pay. (I will insert pictures in my yelp review)
