Needs to be gatekept but this is the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten. The seafood pasta is amazing, their red wine is amazing. Tiramisu was light and beautiful. Chef/owner is the real deal- he’s playing with fire in the kitchen. Sound level is perfect. Go with great company and you will have the best evening.
Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐½☆ (4.5/5) Environment ⭐⭐⭐⭐½☆ beautiful interior with an open kitchen. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ • Mozzarella Caprese ⭐⭐⭐½☆ Pretty average—nothing bad • Bread ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ Fine • Seafood Linguini (Daily Special) ⭐⭐⭐⭐½☆ Generous amount of seafood, very fresh, and the tomato sauce was rich and full of flavor. Value ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very affordable for the quality and portion size. At this price point, it’s hard to complain. Will I come back? Yes
I can’t say enough good. The people are so awesome the food is so amazing. If I lived around here I’d have a serious problem.
A great little place. We had wonderful dinner here. Our first visit, we went with our server’s specials of the day. Mixed grilled plate…sea bass, halibut, salmon, tuna and shrimp, seafood linguine , and pork chops with roasted garlic. All came with salad and bread. All dishes were piping hot, seafood dishes were excellent and super fresh. Servers were attentive. I think we found our new favorite Italian restaurant.
Lovely service, house-made tiramisu, and delicious pasta. Almost everything could be made vegetarian as well, so great if you have parties with mixed dietary preferences. My favorite dish was the tortellini boscaiola; light, creamy, and the mushrooms are well cooked and seasoned 🙌🏽
Love this place. So authentic and cosy. The waiter, Matthew, is wonderful. The right kind of attentive. The food is delicious and spot on. After all, Giuseppe, the owner and cook is from Italy.
Molto bene! What a great find in old town Tustin! The chef is the owner, and he is fun to watch. His portions are very generous. No one will go hungry here. The fettuccine with seafood was my favorite, filled with so many and so much seafood. The sauce was perfectly blended with the pasta and the seafood like salmon, sea bass, mussels, clams, and more. The best seafood pasta I ever had! The Linguini with meat sauce was also rich and nice. The sauce was well balanced. The Chilean sea bass was the best genuine Chilean sea bass I ever tasted in italian restaurant. The only dish I thought could use a little improvement was the braised short ribs. It was soft and well done, but I thought it was a bit bland with only tomato sauce. The bread was fresh. The side salad was also fresh and generous. The server was attentive. Can't go wrong here!
this restaurant meets with your expectations of real italian restaurant with their menu and atmosphere. the food was amazingly delicous and fresh. the complimentary salad was so fresh and juicy I couldn't get it enough. I ordered lobster ravioli, and I was more than happy with that order! great place definitely going back to try their fish menu!!!
This is my second time having dinner in this restaurant and I’m obsessed with their food. They short of staff so you might need to stay about 40 minutes to get your food but it worth it.

Eating here is like going somewhere for a home cooked meal. You're served by wonderful people while in view of the chef making your dinner. They have an extensive wine list and the servers do a great job of recommending a fabulous wine based on our food choice (and mood). The portions are big, the ingredients are fresh, the menu ( and daily specials) are varied with wonderful selections and the chef is willing to tweak things a bit on request. The dining room is clean and quaint, the music is Italian. They fill up quickly so get there early or make reservations. This is truly our " go to" restaurant of choice. Enjoy!
Gotta love a real italian hole in the wall. These places are the hidden gems. Excellent food and authentic all the way down to the head chef.
Service and food are excellent. One of the best restaurants in Tustin. Please understand that this is a small restaurant with a small kitchen. But worth the wait if you end up having to wait. Simply amazing.
The best pasta place we have found in SoCal. They serve authentic Italian style pasta with perfect al dented noodles which is very hard to find in this country.
My Italian heritage was pleasantly surprised! My late gram and gramps Anna Esposito Salerno and Ralph Salerno would have kissed the chef! Amazing food and hospitality.
I love Barolo’s. Food is authentic & made fresh to order. Portions are always big & dishes are well priced. Service is good!
Such a find! Excellent authentic Italian food to die for!! The homemade to order risotto made my heart sing. Service was wonderful, food was amazing.
It's the only Italian place I will bother with as a kid growing up in an Italian family out of new jersey. Do I need to say more? Tuscany regional though so bare that in mind for Guiseppes tomato sauce
This place is a piece of heaven. The food is amazing and the people are very friendly. This place doesn't look like much from outside but once you step in OMG, Andrea is absolutely the best.
Amazing restaurant! Food was superb and the complimentary items we're just as good. You're serviced as soon as you enter. They'll bring you fresh homemade bread (the best I've ever had) along with a salad and a large bowl of parmesan to add at your discretion. The salad already has dressing and even something as simple as a salad was delicious. We ordered a gnocchi pasta and ravioli ala vodka. Both were great. The ravioli especially. I can't get over the quality of their food and complimentaries. The waiters checked up on us at a good time, though they did seem a little stressed. Food came out to us quickly too. Quite an experience and I'll definitely return.
First time visiting this "hole in the wall" appearing establishment. Based on how the owners greeted everyone walking in yesterday at lunch, I could tell this place is a foundation in the community and for good reason. Bread was fresh and warm (great oil & vinegar), and my pasta was delicious (bowtie with sausage - huge portion too!). Definitely recommend coming for a well cooked home-style Italian meal, but beware as the dining area is fairly small so I imagine it is busy on weekends!
We just celebrated my sisters birthday at Barolo -- it was a truly fabulous evening. It's a quaint little restaurant with a limited but FANTASTIC menu. The service was 5 star as was the food. We had calamari and mozzarella appetizers that were prepared to appeal to the eye as well as the tongue. A nice bottle of wine and a variety of main dishes with a shared tiramisu left us wanting to return soon. A true gem here in Tustin.
I can only review on the service i had here and the food i ordered. When you first walk into this place it is small. Like 12-15 tables small. When i went they had plenty of staff to make sure all your needs were met. The kitchen is an open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked and you can smell all the aromas. I ordered chicken parm and half order of bolognese(not sure if that is spelled correctly). They chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and it was seasoned well. The pasta was full of flavour. The portions were ample enough for me to have a full meal the next day. When you first see the menu prices, it is shocking but when your large plates come out filled to the brim with food, you will understand.
My daughter and son in law took us there for our anniversary. It lived up to everything they had told us about the restaurant. The food was incredible and the service excellent. This is definitely a place to go back to again. It's family owned and operated and should absolutely be on your list to try...once you do, you go back there again and again.
I have been coming here for a little over 3 years now. This is one restaurant that has maintained its quality over the years. Everyone is very friendly, and the food is one of the best Italian food I've ever had. Anyone visiting must try the Chilean Sea Bass and the Pollo Piccata. Some of the desserts come directly from Barolo, Italy. Everything is yummy 😋.
Wide variety of pasta dishes and the food is always cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend a reservation if you have a large party due to the small space.
The food was delicious, friendly, good service, and even deserts and coffee was great. We will be back even if I usually don't come out this way bumped into it doing an errand. What a blessing. Do try won't regret it. Thank you Loved it!
Excellent quality food. Above average portions. Incredibly delicious for a shopping plaza restaurant. Not sure where they source the prosciutto, but it was amazing.
I'm a New Yorker at heart! My favorite Italian restaurant in New York is Montes in the village. Barolo's is fantastic! Their food is absolutely delicious! I'll be getting my Sunday Italian meals every week!
It was not like other Italian restaurants. Gave me an illusion that seemed like to be in a small restaurant of Italian small town. Not a dignified or typical Italian restaurant but real Italian homemade foods are served there. You can enjoy 3 main dishes, 2 glasses of wine within $100
We took a Girls Club BB team to Barolo based on location and reviews and had one of the very vest group dinning experiences ever. All the elements were there. Nice ambience particularly for a strip mall location, service was excellent and very accommodating, and most impprtant all the food was fantastic. Will defiantly be back when in town.
Just landed at Orange County airport during rush hour found this cozy Italian hideaway to escape! Mouth watering aromas knock you down when you walk in the door! Quaint tables, authentic staff, Great chef in a open plan Cucina. Radiant wines that expose the hidden herbs and spices, you can’t go wrong with any course the lasagna and the seafood Alfredo created orgasms in our mouth! And we’re from Texas! Go figure
Fantastic Zuppa di Stracciatella (soup) - so tasty. We have eaten when recovering from illness and given it to two friends to cheer them up. We enjoyed the Fusilli Ristica and Rigatoni Primavera. This place is family run with great food. Don’t be discouraged by the ordinary strip mall location or plain white tent out by the sidewalk - it is well worth your time to eat here.
This being my first visit to this restaurant and . . . wow is it good!!! The fettuccine was superb. I could barely finish one serving. That almost never happens as I have the "hollow leg." I have worked on the food service industry for the last 8 years and i do not give great reviews lightly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great sea bass! Authentic Italian food.
Delicious food. Great service. Personable staff. Warm atmosphere. Will definitely go there again. I had (vegetarian of course) fettuccine arabiata.
Absolutley divine. We stop here every time we are in town, every dish is made with love. Authentic Italian cuisine, Giuseppe is a fantastic chef and delivers beyond anything you can imagine. Please stop in and enjoy a home cooked Italian meal.
One of the best Italian dinners I've had. The service was great, the bread, the dinner salad and the chef made one of my favorite pasta dishes. I highly recommend
Finally got around to trying Barolo. Gotta say we were treated great , our entres were great , the wine was perfect as was the desert and the coffee , Italian and delicious. Easily 5 stars plus one
Hidden little gem in Tustin. My wife and I make a point of visiting whenever we're in town. Great Italian restaurant with a family ambience, papa's in the kitchen barking orders. While everyone else calmly looks after the guests.
Amazing place , definitely going again . Food is delicious and authentic. Try the tortellini dish its amazing.
What a great place for lunch. My wife and I ate here a few weeks ago, the portions were huge, and the food quality was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try Barolo for dinner. Spotted the Katnik Brosthers (local real estate folks) a few tables over.
Having Italian family, many Italian restaurants are a little underwhelming to me, but the food at this unassuming cafe reminds me of home. Excellent service, delicious food, generous portions, and great prices make this a must-eat spot for those craving Italian.
I absolutely love this place! Especially their complementary bread!! It’s amazing! Their lasagna never misses and their service is excellent.
Excellent cuisine but the place is a hole in the wall with more seating in a tent on the parking lot than inside. Service outstanding!
Nice and reliable local Italian restaurant.
Amazing food! Great atmosphere and great staff. Ate dinner at the bar and what a treat to watch the chefs in action. This place is awesome.
We really enjoyed ourselves tonight. My husband and I were sorely in need of a date night...so we took to Google. We wanted to go somewhere with great flavor and Barolo looked promising, based on reviews. Plus, we like to support local businesses. Marco took excellent care of us. He was friendly without being intrusive. We enjoyed the conversation with each other and with him. He spoke knowledgeably about the food and the restaurant (including its history) and provided helpful recommendations. While some music would have been nice (we sat outside), we were pleased that we didn't have to yell to hear one another. They already give you foccacia and salad with the entrees, so we ordered caprese instead of bruschetta (though they have many appetizer options). I suspect the bruschetta would have had more flavor than the caprese, but that was easily fixed with some balsamic vinegar and salt. I don't typically eat lots of bread, but the focaccia was delicious and cut into manageable, toasty strips with onion baked into the top. I ordered the mushroom tortellini and my husband ordered the osso bucco - both specials. His was super tender. No knife required, and the tomato sauce pleasantly surprised me (I usually prefer cream sauces). The tortellini was good, too, but something in it tasted a bit bitter - more than I prefer. I suspect it was one of the mushroom varieties. I noticed it less and less as I ate. I wish the tortellini were a bit more consistently filled, but that's a nitpicky observation. We finished with cannoli and profiteroles. The latter was a little too rich for me, but the cannoli were awesome. Even my ricotta-disliking husband enjoyed them! Overall, tonight hit the spot, and we are grateful to have found Barolo! This was a good reminder to break out of routines and look for hidden gem restaurants. Definitely give them a shot! 😀
The restaurant is very inviting the chef/owner came and visited the tables and made sure everything was all right . I order the seafood pasta (the special of the night) lots of fish and shell seafood ,great taste. The seafood linguini was enjoyed to the last bite . The chicken Parmesan was huge and appetizing !!! It has a small wine list but good selection!!! The server was attentive and prompt! All in all we had a great time !!!
THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! I came here with my sister in law & we truly had the best experience. Sonia was our server and went above and beyond with everything! She had the sweetest smile and the happiest attitude. I highly recommend coming and trying this place! Dessert was also phenomenal. I couldn’t imagine a better place for dinner!
I worked in Italy over a 10-year period and never found a bad restaurant. I never found a resturant in the USA that matched the quality of food found in Italy...until now. Borolo Cafe is a wonderful find, as their food, atmosphere and service is the best I have found since my time in Italy. If you want to sample real Italian food, this is the place.
A Hidden Gem in Tustin – A+++++++ My partner has lived in Tustin for 25 years and somehow never dined here until last night—what a discovery! Tucked away in a strip mall, Barolo Italian Cafe is easy to miss at first glance, but once you step inside, you’re transported to a cozy Italian restaurant offering a mix of fine dining and casual charm. As an Italian from Boston who has frequented the North End’s renowned Italian eateries, I have high standards—and Barolo more than delivered. The outdoor seating was charming, with a few scattered tables (we were told an enclosed patio is in the works). Inside, the atmosphere is casual yet intimate, with tables set close together and the chef-owner's bustling kitchen in full view. Part of the experience includes hearing the chef call out orders to his team—an authentic touch that adds character. Now, onto the food: I absolutely loved my Veal Sorrento, paired with perfectly cooked fresh vegetables (you can opt for pasta as well). My partner’s Rigatoni Bolognese was equally incredible, and every dish we saw being served looked outstanding. Bread and salad are included with the meal, and both were exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and a great start to the evening. The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive and friendly, but the rest of the team also made sure we were taken care of—someone else checked in on us, and another kept our water glasses full without us even asking. It’s clear the staff works together seamlessly. My partner enjoyed a generous pour of wine for $12, which was well worth it. So how did we find this gem? A friend from Newport Beach recommended it, and instead of going to our usual Italian spot, we decided to give Barolo a try. We’re so glad we did! This will definitely become a regular spot for us, and I can’t wait to come back to explore more of the menu.
It's the real deal if you like Italian food. Service A+
The best Italian restaurant in Orange County. Authenticity at its finest! I need to thank Andrea, Giuseppi and Albi - family owners and servers for their warm hospitality. Without them, Barolo cafe won't be where it is at today. Everything is fresh, authentic, and flavorful. We brought our kids there and they were kind enough to cater the pasta to their needs and even split the meals evenly for the kids to share. I do recommend their pink sauce concoction pasta with chicken for the kids. My favorite dishes that I've tried so far were the Linguini Vongole (baby clams with white wine sauce), linguini cardinale, and their catch of the day fish dish that is just simply divine! Let's also be clear that they serve the freshest seafood dishes - cooked to perfection! If you like spicy, do ask for their imported, homemade chili that you can complement with your dish. Oh, and their complimentary bread as a starter is just perfect with the olive and vinaigrette! All the customers are happy and most of them know the owners. Maybe that's why the ambience is just so warm and inviting! Thank you again for everything!
Had an incredible time here, can’t wait to go back the staff was super nice and the food was amazing. Bravo!
This is a diamond in the rough! The food is amazing and the staff is the best. You can see the chef/owner hard at work in the kitchen from your table! Such a great experience, it is one of the last remaining resturants where you get a salad with your entre! So good!
The most unexpected place to find the best Italian food in OC. This little gem is truly magnificent! The cheese ravioli with vodka sauce is delightful. The lasagna is incredible. The chicken and mushroom risotto is out of this world! All the classics like fettuccine alfredo and chicken piccata are full of flavor and make you keep wanting to come back! Not a thing on the menu has disappointed! We have been coming often since we discovered it a little over a year ago.
5 stars for my man Giuseppe. Hole in the wall with authentic flavors - plenty of parking and can make dishes off menu. Their Chilean Sea Bass was a huge chunk of meat delivered with some veggies on the side - the appetizer plate with olives and hams were super fresh and tasty. Would recommend interacting with the staff as you can hear the Italian in the bones and taste it in the food!
Eating here is like going somewhere for a home cooked meal. You're served by wonderful people while in view of the chef making your dinner. They have an extensive wine list and the servers (ask for Matt or Andrea...they're wonderful!) do a great job of recommending a fabulous wine based on our food choice (and mood). The portions are big, the ingredients are fresh, the menu (and daily specials) are varied with wonderful selections and the chef is willing to tweak things a bit on request. Fantastic and TRULY AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant!! Amazing generous and delicious dishes!! Innovative creations!! Top notch service. Great prices! Already went back once, and plan on becoming a regular - despite it being over 30 minutes from home!!
Very authentic Italian food straight Outta Sicily
Old school family-run Italian cafe, great hospitality with no attitude. Delicious and carefully prepared food. Very high quality olive oil and seafood, better than what I can find in my grocery store. Wine list has reasonably priced, nuanced, delightful Italian wines. We were seated outside with appropriate social distancing and waitstaff wore masks.
I live in Pasadena, and I drove all the way just to dine at this restaurant. It's slightly on the pricy side, but the food is worth every single penny. The service is topnotch as well. The pasta is tender, the sauce flavorful, and the meat just perfectly seasoned. Make sure to save space for their dessert menu!
A perfect taste of Italy. Our office took over the whole place and a personal menu was created for us thanks to the very helpful and accommodating Matthew. The choice of food was fabulous and each dish was delicious. Service was faultless and professional. A truly wonderful evening was had by all. If you want good service and authentic, tasty Italian food - this is the place to go to.
Food was good. They were super nice and offered to explain the menu since it was our first time. It was also very busy the day I visited. I felt a little crammed since the location is kind of small. At the time, they also have seating outside with a tarp with “windows.”
i had lunch here last week with my husband, and it was beyond DELICIOUS! he had one of the specials, the salmon salad, which was recommended by our server. my husband was a little unsure if it was going to be large enough for him (he was hungry), but he was not disappointed! not sure what kind of dressing was on the arugula salad, but it was divine! it had a lemony, tart, burst of flavor on it. i've never had a better dressing in my life! my husband called it a party in his mouth, and he wasn't kidding! amazing! and there was plenty of salmon on it; our server said they use at least 12 oz. of fish on their salads. it had just a nice crisp on both sides of the salmon pieces, but it was still tender on the inside. really...one of the best salads i've ever eaten! i had the farfalle pasta w/scampi fra diavolo which meant that it was a bit spicy. loved it! just spicy enough w/out being too spicy. there were about 5 pieces of large scampi on it; really quite delicious! i would definitely highly recommend this restaurant! if going for dinner, though, make sure to get reservations as the restaurant itself is pretty small. they were able to add more dining under a tent outside which i prefer, but i know they get really busy at nights; so make reservations.
So if you are looking for authentic Italian food, the kind you would actually find in Italy, this place is the ultimate hidden secret. The chef, Giuseppe, is from Italy and cooks some of the most amazing dishes. In addition to all the standard Italian fare, there are specials each week which are always unique and top-notch. They make all of their own pasta on site an the sauces are authentic and delicious. Nothing from a jar here. You simply will not find any other restaurant with genuine, authentic Italian like this place. There are also many, many regulars here who are from Italy itself and make special requests. You know that is a good sign! There are many home-style and gourmet dishes that you can't find anywhere else. Highly recommended. The food is great!
Recently, I found a real Italian restaurant in Tustin and I ordered some foods for to go. The foods were really good and pretty big for per person. The staffs at the restaurant are kind and friendly. I will order Italian foods here again. It is one of my favorite restaurants now! Thank you, Barolo!
Great experience! We didn’t have a reservation and they looked busy but luckily we were seated right away. I had the ravioli a la vodka which was 10/10!! My husband’s dish was also delicious. Wine and dessert are a must! First time here and it didn’t disappoint.
This place cooks proper Italian food. If you like Italian and are in the area stop by. The owner is fantastic. Understands his craft. You can see into kitchen from the 3 stools at the bar. I love this because they have nothing to hide. I personally love taking my family here for a bite. Best Italian food in this area hands down. Kindly J
Cafe Barolo offers the finest menu of Italian food my family has ever had. My grandparents came to this country by way of Ellis island in the early 1900's and even my grandparents would have been impressed with the cuisine. Seafood, pasta, lamb, and beef dishes are nicely served with homemade pasta dishes and a wonderful wine selection. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the service is amazing.
The food was delicious and the service was great. My first time eating here and it did not disappoint. I had the seafood pasta, salad & the complimentary bread. The bread here was delicious and very soft. Definitely coming back here
Family-like atmosphere complete with the occasional and highly entertaining kitchen arguments! Giuseppe is bar-none when it comes to food and style. Dinner and a show. You'll enjoy amazing portions, incredible quality, and most folks in attendance have a love and affinity for the place like it was their own. The absolute go-to place for Italian food in OC
Barolo served excellent Italian meals, prepared authentically with passion. The cafe is small but cozy, and offers patio service. The waiters are professionals. Everything about Barolo is superlative.

Barolo Italian Cafe is a low profile but authentic Italian restaurant here at Tustin area. Their cooking style is like a passionate artist, you feel the different layers of taste they're trying to deliver to me, even the side 🥗 Salad, simple but flavorful. For main course, ordered their seafood spaghetti, or should I say seafood soup with noodles; at my first bite, the tasty sauce (soup) amazed me, at my 2nd bite, was surprised to find out that except salmon, they put in cod, which is very rarely found; as I put in the house chili oil, this spaghetti immediately won my 5 star, as the chili oil brought out all the essentials of seafood. Strongly recommend this place!!!
Lowkey Italian spot in Tustin. Same parking lot as Kean's Coffee and Gen KBBQ. It's a big parking lot, but it's almost always full. I was actually trying to eat at OkiDoki, but the wait was two hours on a Saturday. We walked across the parking lot to Barolo to get Italian instead. We were pleasantly surprised. I saw the olive oil/balsamic vinegar bottles on each table, and I was so amused. It's a great invention. Our server was chatty but mindful. The menu was extensive; it was hard to choose. I like that the pasta and main dishes are served with a salad, which tasted so good! They gave us a big basket of bread, which was super toasty and almost hard. It tasted so good, I was eating like 4-5 pieces before the main dishes came out. I got the veal sorrento. It was delicious. The pasta that came with it was also tasty. It was a big portion for $27.95. Indoor + outdoor seating available. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. Bathroom is past the kitchen. No Wifi.

This was our second time here. The first time the food was great but this last time it was a bit bland, don't get me wrong the food was still good but not quite the same. After the first time I would of given 5 stars but this last time I can only give it 4.
Pretty authentic. I'm Italian so I know the difference. Lately it has been very crowded and I notice more butter being used. Americans like it because it makes everything taste better.
Everything was ok, but not blowing us away. Will I come back? If a family meet-up is the choice here, then yes. A bit pricey for ok food...I was hoping for a new favorite
From the owner, to the the food, Barolo is authentic as it gets. The Chilean sea bass is one of my favorite dish. If you want authentic Italian food and desert, Barolo won't disappoint!
What's Good: Linguini Cardinale if you're in the mood for a white sauce. Fettuccine Bolognese if you're in the mood for a red sauce (you can add a big meatball to it, but don't). Both delicious and full of flavor. Calamari Fritti is a good starter - hearty pieces of squid and lightly breaded. Meal comes with healthy serving of salad and bread. Also each plate can easily serve two people. A plate per person will give you lunch for the next day. What's Okay: There's a Seafood Linguini on special most days, where they don't skimp on the seafood. Seafood is good but is too much and could use a bit more flavor. Plus, I'd like more Linguini (the balance was off). Gnocchi Pomodoro and Pollo Parmigiana are just okay. Other Notes: great place for takeout - everything is still piping hot when you get home and they give you a lot of salad and bread. Well prepared too since they're cognizant to fry Calamari when you get there so that it's crispy, longer. And they separate the salad from the pasta so that your salad isn't toasty. Price reflects portion, so even though it seems slightly pricey, it's a great value.
Carpaccio ($10.95) is thinly sliced raw beef topped with grana cheese, capers, and olive oil. It is the perfect marriage of the sweet raw beef, salty cheese, briny capers, and just a smidgen of lemon juice. You don’t need to eat all of the capers, just add some to your liking. Rating: 4/5 Calamari Fritti ($10.95) is a very generous portion. It is very lightly breaded like tempura so the outside gets crispy but not golden brown. The calamari is so tender. The sauce has a robust kick and works really well with the calamari. Rating: 4.5/5 Veal Marsala ($16.95) is thinly sliced veal in Marsala wine sauce with mushrooms. The veal is very tender and has a very light beef flavor. The Marsala has a luscious consistency and coats the meat and mushrooms just right. Mushrooms are fresh, spongy, and have an earthy flavor. The sautéed vegetables are a great accompaniment with bright, fresh-picked flavor. Rating: 4/5 Fettuccine con Scampi e Fungi ($19.95) is shrimp, mushrooms, and fettucine tossed in a tomato cream sauce. The sauce really makes this dish pop with just the right amount of seasoning to bring the shrimp, mushrooms, and fettucine together in a harmonious dance of flavors. The mushrooms add a rustic, earthy component. The shrimp are perfectly cooked and plump with a nice snap. It is a very healthy portion with enough to take home for another meal. Rating: 4.5/5 Cannoli is handmade and filled to order. The cannoli shell is crispy and not too hard like a good cannoli should be. The creamy mascarpone cheese is not super sweet. The chocolate chips and the fresh fruit add a decadent layer of flavor – sweet chocolate and sweet, tart berries. Rating: 5/5
Good fresh white bass, had with spag bolognese and salad. Bread if you want. Had dessert and coffee. Lot of staff, service. Dine inside or outside tented/covered patio. Definitely try this place if you fancy Italian. Good coffee served here.
Might be good if you love lots of olive oil..it was too much for me. I ordered brushetta and it was soaked in it. The pesto was great the first time ..sampled it..but when I ordered it...nothing like what they brought me to sample. Sad...not for me.
My husband's dish was great, but I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs tasted "off" with little to no flavor. When I asked the owner what was in the meatballs he confidently said "chicken." Wow, did I ask for chicken meatballs? Ok, so y'all make sure you specify what kind you want before you order it. Never had that experience at any other Italian place. They were expensive, too.
With each Italian restaurant I try, I have to go with chicken parmigiana as my first meal. This is a basic dish that should not be difficult to mess up, and though it did not hit any high marks with lack of taste, the side of pasta was really good. The staff was very attentive and the overall decor was very nice and the small location was cozy. It will be a little time that I come back here, and I am hopeful that something else, or a special, will change my mind about this location.
Had lunch today with husband and came due to good Yelp reviews. Despite the great service, it did not measure up to the 4.5*s on Yelp, not sure if we ordered the wrong things. We started with the bruschetta which was very good! Nice savory cherry tomatoes on toasted baguette. The complimentary focaccia bread was excellent. Salads were good. However the main dishes of Seafood Linguine Special and the Shrimp Pasta were terrible. Although generous portions, these dishes were severely lacking in flavor! It was worse than cafeteria food. We tried throwing in Parmesan cheese, no improvement. Added salt, but no impact on the flavor. It’s like everything on the plate was boiled without any seasonings and then tossed in a watery sauce. We were shocked, and disappointed. We wanted to like it based on the Yelp reviews but found it very overrated for what we ordered. Needless to say we are not likely to come again, despite the good beginnings of the meal.

Fair Italian fare. Food ranges from flavorful (Chicken Cardinale) to downright bland (ravioli with vodka sauce). Atmosphere is quite pleasant and quaint and bread + salad is decent. However, bland flavoring does not justify high prices.
We heard this place was good so decided to give it a try. We were planning a party and asked about catering; we received one phone call and said they’d get back to us, but never heard back from anyone even after leaving a few messages. We tried the restaurant three times and we never had a good meal. We really wanted to like it because our favorite Italian restaurant closed when the owners retired. We thought each time maybe it’s just what we’re ordering so we kept trying. Well, we’re not trying any more! So glad they never called us back for our party.
This was our first time trying this restaurant . It was 3 of us and we all got different stuff but the only thing in common we all had was their salads . The food was alright and we honestly did have a good time there . However the next day all three of us were deadly sick, vomiting , and running to the bathroom non stop. We all got food poisoning from this restaurant ! So I’d avoid any raw veggies here .
It is just not tasty. Any other Italian place in OC I have been to served way better food than this place. I put bunch of cheese on my pasta but it didn’t help. Protein was overcooked and pasta was tasteless.

Wow the food here was disgusting. The cheese wasn't even real Parmesan cheese, it was some sort of saw dust. The calamari wasn't fresh and their osso buco (daily special) was bland. Nothing tastes good here. We didn't even attempt to finish our food, that's how bad it was. We immediately asked for the check and booked it. Please don't come here and don't trust the positive reviews.
One of the worst and strangest dining experiences ever last night September 23, 2021. The old man chef, the only one cooking, seemed to get slammed with to go orders then people started coming in. We got there early and sat inside. I was facing the cooking station and witnessed for about an hour of this old man cook verbally abusing, ranting, yelling, slamming pots on the ground...at his staff, which was doing a great job. He had two waiters and one bus boy and this old man was verbally abusing all of them so badly that my husband and I left after one glass of wine and salad. I know how stressful it is dealing with food service, but there is NO excuse to yell at your workers and make the general dining experience for everyone in the room horrible. Get a grip Barolo and get some help and shut your abusive pie hole.
Chef/Owner is a loose cannon. Ordered my meal without tomato sauce due to dietary restrictions and the owner (chef) had a temper tantrum in the open kitchen and made a huge scene verbally berating the waiter and myself (customer) as I sit there and watch the scene unfold….disgraceful behavior if you ask me. This is no way to act/treat an employee or customer or any human being for that matter…. It’s not that serious dude…if the request cannot be accommodated then just politely decline like a mature adult. Needless to say, got up and walked out right then and there and would never go back. Do NOT recommend…stay away from this place unless you get off to being treated like trash….perhaps like you’re on a real life version of Hell’s Kitchen? 🤣
