Tip: Enjoy the delicious food and excellent service.
Absolutely love this restaurant. It's not very close to home but worth the trip. The whole menu, minus 1 item, is gluten free. Many items are also vegan, there are also dairy free options. Very allergen friendly and accommodating. I have celiac disease and need to eat gluten free, Blackies makes me feel comfortable and safe to eat there. I've tried several options on the menu and haven't had any issues. The food is delicious. The GF carrot cake is my favorite dessert and a must have treat. The staff is friendly, welcoming and everything is clean. There is a nice looking outdoor area that I've only seen the entrance to from the parking lot during cold months. The only negative thing I have to say is the parking lot is always packed and it can be hard to find a spot.
A great relaxing late lunch. Our service was handling a large out door section alone so took a bit to come say hi but we were in no rush. Frank’s & food were great. Pizza to go was amazing.
I've been following this restaurant on social media for years. I finally was able to make a day out of coming down, going kayaking, checking out a farmer's market and circling around to visit the restaurant. The host was extremely helpful in providing feedback on what I should order, and she also gave me a quick tour of the space. I had no idea how large it was.. very impressive! Since I moved to the seacoast from Connecticut in 2021, it's been near impossible to find good quality food. Even when I go out after work in Boston, there's just something missing The freshness of the dishes I ordered far surpassed any food I've eaten in the area since I moved. I got the short rib tacos, spicy squid and Boston cream dessert. I feel like the dessert could have had more emphasis on the cream, but it's all so delicious and filling. Best of all, gluten free!
If you’re considering Blackie’s—go. It will not disappoint. The ambiance, service, and food are absolutely AMAZING. GLUTEN FREE ALERT: My wife has had celiac for 10 years, and we’ve tried just about every gluten-free option in Boston, Worcester, and now Providence. Blackie’s takes the crown. Hands down the best gluten-free dining experience we’ve ever had. ✅ Dedicated gluten-free pizza oven (yes, really!) ✅ Gluten-free quesadillas ✅ Gluten-free chicken tenders ✅ Gluten-free cornbread The quality and care are off the charts. You can actually relax and enjoy the food without second-guessing anything. When are they opening a location in Worcester—and can I invest?! Cheers 🍻
Our server was Nicole and she was absolutely amazing! This was our first time here and my husband likes to bust chops and she knew exactly what to say back to him lol, she was very nice, very informative about the food and answered all our questions. The food and drinks were a 10/10 we will definitely be back and we definitely recommended this restaurant
We went there in the middle of the snow storm and they were open and staffed! The place has an amazing decore and atmosphere and is super clean. Our waitresses provided great service. She guided us through menu and explained everything. The food was great. The burger and steak tips were awesome! Will definitely be back when we are in the area.
Our wedding day was truly made magical by the staff at Blackie’s. This was my first choice of reception venue, among many other suggestions made to me, my heart was set on Blackie’s from the beginning. After having been a guest at a friend’s baby shower a year before, I knew I wanted to host our micro-wedding reception here. The proprietor Jeanine was extremely accommodating from the start, she was very clear and concise in all her communications with me, answering every little question I had (and I had a lot!) and providing clarity and consideration to each request made. She made excellent recommendations for the menu flow, and was considerate of making sure we understood what was considered plenty of fare for the number of guests we had. They allowed us to decorate with florals and signage and wedding knick knacks, and the ambience of the space, the dining arrangements, furniture, were all so amazing. They even allowed us to play our own playlist! We were blown away by how beautiful everything looked, and the staff was outstanding as well; the GM Katie was so kind, and extremely attentive. Our bartender was outstanding, I’m so sad I didn’t get her name but she was so sweet and accommodating. Everyone who had a hand in our special day, from the kitchen staff who made our delicious food, to the servers and waitstaff, and everyone in between, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our special day a memory of a lifetime. Blackie’s will always have a special place in our hearts. Much love from the bride & groom, Justine & Ian Gutkowski.
First time dining on your beautiful outdoor patio. Outstanding service by Lilly C.! The Proper Patty Melt is stupendous! There was a photo shoot for some new menu items and cocktails happening on the patio while we were there.Very fun to observe the photographer, model and staff helping. Great experience!
This was our first time here and it came highly recommended by my nephew who is a Rhode Island chef. Just pulling into the parking lot. My wife and I knew that we would like this place very much. It has a very modern clean look. We had reservations, and we were brought in immediately. The place was absolutely packed. As we watch other peoples meals come out, everything looks so good we could not decide on what to get. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. We had the nacho appetizer, which was a huge. At that point we were very full, so we just got a pizza which was fantastic. We will definitely be going back to try the other dishes that looked fantastic. They have a fantastic outside seating area that was closed because it was cold and raining. We will definitely be going back on a nice summer night to enjoy that outside seating.
We had such a great dinner here tonight. One of our guests is gluten free and he was overwhelmed with the amount of delicious options and precautions taken by kitchen. Our server was prompt and attentive. Food gluten free or not was so good. No one had any complaints. Wait time for food was not bad at all. Would definitely come back and highly recommend!!
I got a carry out order and didn't realize it would be an hour wait and they were so nice and pushed it up. They really didn't have to but I'm super grateful! And the food was delicious!
Always packed place. Went for a friends birthday. The wait 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours💀. But we by passed the wait by calling ahead and planning. So if you think about coming make sure to call ahead and make sure they're not busy. Big menu so anything you're craving they may have it. Exceptional service as well. Food was good. Burgers are very good here aswell. I would like to definitely come and try more foods.
This place is one of my favorites. Great, rotating seasonal menu. Awesome beer selection. The Chef is a master of her craft! 10/10!
Fantastic Food and Freindly Staff! Been hearing about this place for a while and we finally had a chance to try it out. Definitely glad we did. Started with the Buffalo Chicken Dip and it was tops! Maybe my best ever. Wife and I had burgers and we devoured them. Cooked perfectly on a sweet roll style bun. We loaded them up with our favorite toppings like thick cut bacon and carmelized onions, lettuce tomatoes and jalapenos! The sweet potato fries were excellent and the recommended dipping sauce added a sweetness to the savory of the lightly salted fries! We will be adding Blackies to our rotation! PS - We went on a very hot day and encountered flies throughout the visit. This is my only con for the day.
I had an amazingly tasty and well-made dinner at Blackie's last night. Their menu is not only filled with gluten-free options, but they actually make most of their items gluten-free. So many allergy, friendly restaurants offer to make their selections gluten-free, and you miss out on some of the great ingredients because they’re not substituting with a gluten-free option. Not Blackies. I love this place and they service is fantastic as well.
Katie was a phenomenal server/ manager everything was perfect everything tasted amazing the desserts were great ambiance is amazing 😍 definitely coming back.
I took the short 15-minute walk from the Holiday Inn Express up around the corner to check this place out. I was not disappointed. First of all my server Tammy, was outstanding. She was extremely attentive, made excellent suggestions, and was very personable and professional. I started with the Teriyaki wings, which were big, juicy, and full of flavor. After a few different brews, I tried there peppercorn steak sandwich which was very tasty. I added on the sweet potato fries and honestly they were the best I've ever had in my life. Atmosphere is very chill and welcoming. If I ever get up around Providence again I will be stopping in !
This restaurant was on my bucket list for a while and we decided to go for a celebration. I honestly wish I went sooner it was such an amazing experience the food was extremely amazing we decided to get all apps just so we can sample a little bit of everything and so glad we did but I can't wait to go back to try more!!
Absolutely incredible experience! The atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous—warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed. The owners were amazing—so kind, passionate, and clearly love what they do. Now let’s talk about the food: 10 out of 10 across the board. Every dish was beautifully presented, perfectly priced, and bursting with flavor. The quality was outstanding. And the drink I had? One of the best I’ve ever tasted—balanced, unique, and memorable. This place is a gem. Can’t wait to come back!
one of my favorite places to come! i usually sit at the bar or pizza bar. foods great, but i cant lie- service can be iffy. bartenders are great, but sometimes when its slow food will sit and then not be that warm. sat at a table for the first time with guests the other day for lunch & our waiter was in a big rush (even though it was dead), rolled his eyes a lot (over honestly nothing), & just made it seem like he was inconvenienced to be waiting on us. i think other tables noticed this too as he was so snippy with everyone. maybe reevaluate some of the wait staff. food is phenomenal & owners are very very nice. they care a lot about the little details
I heard a lot of great things and I'm happy I tried Blackie's out myself. The menu has something for everyone..... whether you eat gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, or have many food allergies like myself. All of the ingredients were fresh and dishes seasoned to perfection. The nachos are a must try! I can't wait to go back again.
this was our first time here and our waitress, lily, was great!! gave recommendations, was so accommodating, extremely attentive and kind. super welcoming atmosphere, everyone was friendly and helpful and the manager is incredibly kind. would definitely recommend, food and decor was very good!!
Overall a lovely experience. The modern design is a fresh take on a traditional restaurant experience. We love the dark and modern bar setting. A huge shout out to the designer of the bar with hooks for bags and hidden plugs for charging your phone, including USB and traditional three-prong plugs. The food was also incredibly noteworthy. The calamari was perfectly cooked, lightly battered, and incredibly tender. The pork carnitas rice bowl had a generous helping of delicious guacamole, pickled onions, flavorful rice, and a lively kale salad. Lastly, the chicken spanakopita was by far the showcase of the meal. The sauce was incredibly fresh and flavorful, chicken was juicy and perfectly grilled, and that rice!! It was incredibly delicious, gooey, and perfectly balanced. Everything that was presented was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for lunch during a rainy afternoon or an amazing dinner!
I’m visiting from out of town, but looking online for good gluten free places led me here. I got the “Herb-Marinated Tofu Limone” which was delicious! This place is top tier, and the food was borderline gourmet. They accommodate for allergies, there was so many options! I sat there for a good twenty minutes because of all the options they had for, vegans, vegetarian, dairy, and gluten free. Plus for your safety of mind, they have a little sticker that comes out on the plate checking off what modification you asked for! That’s something I’ve never seen before and can greatly appreciate. The food portions themselves were generous, and the drinks were fancy as heck. I’ve included photos of what I’ve mentioned. The building itself was really pretty. I knew when I walked in and saw a chandelier that my wallet was gonna feel that, haha! But the chandeliers I saw were made out of silverware, and another was made from pieces of bottles. Regardless, I actually think they are reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food! I will be coming back next time I’m in town 100%. And the lady who sat us, I believe her name started with a J, was absolutely wonderful! Said she had the same diet restrictions so she gets it. And our waiter was equally as professional and helpful! But I didn’t grab his name unfortunately. I’m looking forward to next time! (Afterthought, I would recommend placing a reservation, we did that and were thankful because it was very busy!)
2025-What I really appreciate about coming here, is the rotational seasonal menus, from cocktails to food. I get most excited to see what new cocktails are on the menu. Every experience here is always a delicious and satisfying one. 2024-Love the different cultural cuisines on the menu. There's unique options for all appetites and palates. The aesthetic of the restaurant definitely stands out with having a luxury city like decor in this town. Without reservations, we were seated at the back bar by the pizza station. The seasonal inspired cocktail menu included drinks like "Pancakes for Dinner" and "Smokin in The Orchard" that my mouth absolutely devoured. I also enjoyed the Blackie's Pear that was juicy. For my entree I ordered the Short Rib Ramen which was delicious!! Also enjoyed sharing a pizza which was full of flavor and seasoned great. Blackie's makes going out to eat easy, when you're guaranteed top quality cocktails, food and service.
One of the best spots in the Smithfield area. The menu has a wide selection, but I really enjoy the maple mayo turkey pub sandwich and the pizza. I definitely recommend booking a reservation as this is a very popular spot.
The best place on earth. Always the most incredible vegetarian and vegan options. It’s the only place I can go there, enjoy every moment and have a delicious, satisfying and filling meal every time. If we lived closer I would be here every week. This beautiful and relaxing inside, the staff are all incredible and attentive. The nachos are to die for, so simple but the best ever. Their pizza is to die for and they have really incredible drinks. You really should stop reading this and just go right now 😁
They did it. So good. So cute. Was so tired of getting bad meals at nice places I thought all hope was lost! Your braised short rib sandwich restored my faith in humanity. 😍
Such a cute restaurant ! Definitely a must try in Rhode Island. The food is amazing, 5 stars for the buffalo chicken dip. Meagan and Brittany were both fantastic behind the bar
UPDATED 2/16/23: So happy to return to this gem. I have not been here since they’ve moved to this location but the menu quality and thoughtfulness are still there and our Valentine’s dinner tonight was excellent. I would send someone here for the cheeseburger rangoons alone—I don’t even like that type of hybrid typically but these, well, you’ll just have to order them and enjoy them yourself. Perfectly pinched, crisp, and the perfect cheeseburger bite. I ordered a La carte from the menu toward the back—perfectly grilled salmon, a paleo kale sautee, and perfectly umami mushrooms. My date enjoyed the chicken Marsala with mini shell pasta. Hey, no secret that shell pasta is a low food cost item for the restaurant but what’s clear is that it was thoughtfully chosen to be nostalgic, is dressed perfect in the savory sauce—not drowning—and is a totally unique take. I can appreciate a dish that offers a profit to the restaurant and doesn’t feel like a slap in the face to a knowing diner. Brava! We appreciated the friendly service and the conversation with the floor staff. It is also nice to see the owners present and engaged in the dining room. By the way, killer negroni, and the carrot cake is just as perfect as always! The vibe remains inclusive, laid back, and still a special dining experience—families, single groups, dates—feels like everyone’s welcome at Blackies! OLDER REVIEW: Excellent menu for all types of eaters: vegetarians, gluten free, paleo, and hardcore meat lovers alike. The service staff is friendly, flexible, and seem to enjoy their jobs which is a rare thing to find in RI! The atmosphere is upbeat and fun for college kids or happy hour folks to gather at the bar but also for kids and families to dine or couples to enjoy a date. Amanda F was our server and totally delightful. Appetizer was a cauliflower/ romanesco parm. Just trust me and get it! Healthy and delicious. The Reuben and brisket tacos were great as was the Italian Mojito. I can’t stress enough how hard it is to find a place that is consistently good like this and has a menu and practices that are conscious of the environment but not pretentious. No styrofoam to-go boxes! Woohoo guys! Love this place. Carrot cake ice cream sandwich: to die for! Cold broccolini—delish and clean and perfectly cooked.
We love Blackies. The food is amazing, classic options like pizza/burgers are done with a high level of execution. And there are always new / more exotic plates to experience too, if you are into that. If you have dietary restrictions, like GF/ V / any allergies, there are plenty of options for you, which are prepared at a high level. The staff are a great group of people, and hold themselves to a high standard. Highly recommend
Staff is really friendly and informative about the menu, we do not get to try there seasonal sangria, so we tried their house sangria (white), which was ok, we ordered cheeseburger ragoon which was interesting and a first for us and fried squid also yummy. Quick service, reasonable prices. Spacious outdoor seating, covered and uncovered.
This place is a great choice for people on restricted diets!! They have a lot of choices and it says on their menu that they don't use seed oils!! The food is delicious and the service was outstanding; sat at the pizza bar!!
Incredibly awesome! From greeting to eating, absolutely above average. The attention to detail is stellar. Food is clean and beyond delicious. Kudos that the Chef for demanding such excellence from the kitchen to the table. Team is on point and kaizen. Culinary experience not to be missed.
Great place to eat and drink. Variety of food choices and a great presentation. Staff is friendly and helpful. They have special members for paleo and gluten free diets as well as the regular menu which is extensive. I enjoyed their take on a Cubano and my husband their take on a hot dog.
We chose this restaurant for a late lunch a few days ago. I was feeling adventurous and got something out of the ordinary and I absolutely loved it! It's a grilled cheese with Brie, butternut squash, apricot jam, and arugula (kept the onions on the side). The bread was fresh fluffy ciabatta and it came with house made chips. It was pricey ($17) but worth it in my opinion! I left happy and full. I would definitely go back!
The sandwiches here are elite. My uncle got the Reuben, my brother got the Guido and a salad was (mistakenly) ordered. The side of homemade chips was plentiful and so were the servings. The menu has everything. Vegan, gluten free, dairy free. I haven’t stopped in yet but as a takeout spot, it really hits.
UPDATE‼️ Ever since my first visit, I’ve been totally hooked. We absolutely love coming here and even make an hour drive. You can’t go wrong with any of their desserts. Food is always top notch. We LOVED Brent our server! First time here the other day and we sat at the bar. Their menu is unique and their food was soooo good. The pizza was delicious and so was the pulled pork sandwich but omg the “adult kid mac & cheese” was to die for!!!! So buttery, cheesy and delicious. I would go back just for the Mac and cheese! The Buffalo chicken dip was also amazing! Bartenders were attentive and sweet.
Great service as always! The food was amazing! We tried pizza for the first time and will definitely be getting it again. Brandon the bartender was so polite and attentive. Can’t wait to go back! Hands down our favorite restaurant!
Been here twice now and everything I had was absolutely delicious!! My boyfriend and I recently got the nachos + truffle steak and cheese sandwich… one of the best steak sandwiches i’ve had in a long time! Food and drink prices are fair too. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Totally understand why they’re always busy.
I stopped in for a drink after a really bad day. My bartender Brittany was amazing. She was warm, easy to talk to, and made one of the best martinis I’ve had in a long time. She created such a comfortable vibe and treated everyone at the bar with so much kindness and attention. You can tell she loves what she does and cares about the people she serves. I’ll definitely be back because of her. Love you blackies keep rockin it !
Enjoy a generously sized, juicy patty crowned with melted cheese, artfully presented atop a bed of crisp salad greens and lightly dressed with signature Thousand Island dressing. Complementing this health-conscious delight are perfectly portioned fries, offering the right balance of crunch and satisfaction. Five Stars!
Blackie’s is one of those rare restaurants that keeps you coming back again and again. The food is consistently amazing, the atmosphere is welcoming, and you can genuinely feel the care put into everything they do. The vegan buffalo dip is an absolute favorite for us. As someone who needs gluten-free options, I really appreciate that they often have gluten-free specials, so it’s always worth keeping an eye out. That extra effort means so much. And honestly… without Katy, we probably wouldn’t keep coming back 😂 She is truly the heart of the place—kind, attentive, and always making you feel valued and remembered. Blackie’s wouldn’t be the same without her. Highly recommend!
The service was wonderful. We had a party of 10 and was escorted to a back room that can serve 2 large parties of 10 in that space. The food was great. I had a brisket sandwich that I highly recommend. Unfortunately, I ate it before I was able to take a picture of it. The calamari was very tender and tasteful. Looking forward to going back.
I always enjoy my experience at Blackie’s restaurant, but I would like to acknowledge the exceptional service this particular time. I am currently having chemotherapy treatment and need to be cautious of my surroundings during this flu/virus season. When I called for a reservation they were extremely accommodating and put me and my friend in an area away from most of the other patrons. The waitress (sorry I don’t remember her name) was just as attentive, even though we were seated far away from others. I truly appreciated their kindness and understanding.
We went to Blackie’s again tonight, and I’ve got to say these people are on another level. The food and drinks are always great (my margarita was perfect), but what really got me was that the staff and owners actually remembered my son’s egg allergy from a past visit. They made sure everything was safe, and checked in like they genuinely cared. You don’t see that kind of attention much anymore. The food was awesome, service was quick, and everyone there just seemed happy to be working which makes a big difference. Places like this make eating out easy and enjoyable, even with food allergies in the mix. Big thanks to the team, Jeanine and chef Angie. We’ll definitely keep coming back
Un lugar excelente 👌
Excelente comida y excelente trato de los meseros...
Me gusta
The food and the service was stupendous! The drinks in the other hand need some help! We enjoyed gluten free spinach and ricotta calzone it was flaky and crisp with the most delicious cheese oozing out of it. Amy enjoyed the chicken melanase cooked to perfection I enjoyed an amazing pasta dish with thin ribbons of zucchini and haves of delicious grape tomatoes all based in the most delightful butter and oil this plate should be served with some sort of yummy toast triangles or a small garlic baguette 🥖 but other than that there was no wait we were seated with drinks in minutes thousand precent worth checking it out especially gluten free people🤙🏼🦂🌅
Fabulous burgers! And very crisp chips. Should list guacamole appetizer as smashed avocado as that’s all that’s in it. Also, Caesar salad has no anchovies. Recommend servers should do table set ups when patrons seated. Had to ask for or go get ourselves. Loved the frosted glasses for porter beer, one we had not had before. It was great too.
The food and service are fabulous, we visited last Saturday night and sat at the bar. What a cool place, so much to look at and we love that they are doing well, its nice to see that in this economy. I loved the old place but the new location is new and improved, I feel like I am seeing celebrities when I see Angie & Jeanine. I met a friend for lunch today, Saturday afternoon, was asked if I had a reservation, I did not. When I was brought to the dining area to the left of the hostess station I was surprised, it didn't have the same feel as the rest of the restaurant, I couldn't wrap my head around the vibe, it was almost cafeteria like, the tables are way too close together in this room, I touched elbows with the man behind me, I'm not a big person. I witnessed 2 different parties asking to be moved, one said they felt they were on display as they were sitting in the middle of the room and had a carseat that was on a chair. My food was fantastic as usual, I am always excited to get my hands on that menu. I had what was called My Very Own Goldfish Stick. Beyond good & I asked for an Onion Ring which could have passed for a butter crunch donut. Ok so my friend had joined me and said I told you to ask for the lounge, she had been here previously & had seen this room. I told her we didn't have reservations. We both felt punished for this, this room is not cozy, it's uncomfortable to sit concious of the person so close behind you. It's the complete opposite of the laid back cozy lounge and bar(s) I felt a tad cheated because it was not as aesthetically pleasing or comfortable. Will I be back? You bet. Lesson, make reservations and request the lounge or bar.
Amazing place been going here for a few years now. I work down the street now and try to go once in a while but I’ve been disappointed with the takeout. $23 for a sandwich and a salad instead of chips. There is almost no corn beef on this sandwich and when I had this in house a few weeks ago it was 3x the size. In need of stepping up the take out game. There are a lot of offices in the area. Won’t be getting take out for a while at that price.
Hubby loved the pulled pork sandwich! Fries should be blanched and they'd be killer! Fried chicken needs some seasoning in batter but otherwise delicious! Yummy homemade potato chips!
Neat eclectic eatery. Amazing menu - really interesting choices. I thoroughly enjoyed my NY Deli style Reuben and the bbq chicken wings were great. My dining friend enjoyed her gluten free fish and chips. Only 5 stars due to the service. The staff was friendly enough but there was a general lack of enthusiasm. Definitely not on par with the exceptional menu.
Dames Who Dine PVD enjoyed dinner there tonight. Our server, Katirina, was fantastic and provided rock star service. Our meals were delicious and the serving sizes are HUGE. A few things to note: reservations for 8 or more require a CC to hold. If you are rude and pull a no show, no call you will be charged $25 per person (!) And be given gift cards for the 'purchase'. Not on the website and was called the day before visit and asked for my info. It is a popular place and the funnest space is in the lounge area. I recommend you check it out. Women owned and operated, too!
They offer a large selection including vegan, vegetarian, dairy and gluten free options as well as traditional. The menu can be overwhelming as they provide a unique take on common foods. Everyone in our group really enjoyed the flavors they curated in their dishes. Parking was tough, had to circle the lot waiting for others to leave and the food took a while.
Cool vibe and good food. Based on the photos and menu I saw online, dinner was exactly what I expected for this type of restaurant. Unique and higher quality food, but priced too high because of the small portions. I would need to spend $70 to get somewhat full. When the chicken Marsala stuffed mushrooms app came out, I got a pit in my stomach because it was so small and it’s $17!! Although I have to say, it was very tasty with a legit sauce. My brother and I swapped half of our sandwiches. We shared the chimi chopped cheese ($18) and the Reuben ($20). The Reuben was done very well, but small and not stuffed enough. The chopped cheese was excellent. So juicy and like the Reuben, it did not have enough meat and I wish it was larger for the price. Also, the plantain makes no sense in this sandwich. It ruined the one bite with it. Seems like blackies is trying to be too innovative adding that in there. Only the desserts are worth the price for their taste and portions. I got the carrot cake ($10) after seeing it ordered a lot online and it did not disappoint! The cake itself was my favorite part and the dessert was large. The mousse was bomb, but the whipped cream was too thin and had no taste. Also, the carrot cake would have been on another level if they doused it with that amazing sauce that they scarcely put on the bottom. I tried a bite of my brother’s cheesecake ($10) which was also really good. It had a cookie and brownie crust with vanilla cheesecake. I would have given a 3, but their taste, quality, atmosphere and service warranted a 4. Portions are brutal though.
Very nice place. Waitress was very attentive and nice, food was very good specially the pepperoni pizza. Besides that what I like the most was the house cocktail. Very nice place you can have a great time talking with friends there. Even though I liked everything, it was nothing that blew me up so that’s why I don’t give 5 stars but still is a good place to go and eat. So you can try it ;)
Food is a bit pricy but so worth it! Everyone in my party said that everything was delicious. I had the Dirty Gurdy and a coconut Mojito which were both amazing! Beautiful decor. Clean atmosphere. Friendly staff. However our food took a long time to arrive and while we didn’t mind waiting we were still rushed out. We were a group of friends. Could’ve even had a few more drinks had we not been asked to leave.
Delicious freshly prepared meals. Our first time here. We wondered what the hype was all about as we always see the parking lot packed..Came in for a late lunch. I had 1/2 of the Sunday Salad with a side of grilled chicken. Great Salad for $10! My husband enjoyed the sweet potato fries so much he didn't even bother with the ketchup- that's huge for him! He didn't notice he had ordered a fried chicken sandwich ( he tries to be healthy and go with grilled options. ) but he enjoyed it anyway and it was delicious!
With an estimated hour wait time I was directed to the bar. I was greeted by a pleasant young lady who promptly took my drink order and left me with a menu. I ordered the late night chef burger, my first foray into peanut butter and beef. The burger itself was very good, nicely cooked with a char. The peanut butter killed it for me but that doesn't detract from how good the burger was. I had a side of Mac n cheese and it was nice and creamy but nothing special. The house made chips were very enjoyable. An overall nice experience.
Although we live only 15 mins away we had forgotten about Blackie's Bulldog Tavern. Then, while driving by the new Blackie's we decided we would try it; happy that we did. We may have been fortunate going on July 4th weekend as it was not terribly busy. The parking lot is sizeable but about 1/2 seemed to be dedicated valet. We were seated at a table that was directly under a powerful a/c flow. After asking if we could move to one of the two empty tables nearby our server checked with the host and said it was fine. Later, even though there remained an empty table (of the two), another couple was seated at our original table. One of the couple immediately put on a jacket. So, bring something warm... it was mid-eighties outside. To the food: we started with caprese crostini which was sizeable and delicious. Three or even four people could enjoy this dish as an app, while one or two could probably be satisfied with it as a course (Tapas style). For entrees, we enjoyed the "seared, Verlasso salmon" and "your favorite carnitas". Both were excellent, creative and full of taste explosions. For dessert we shared carrot cake. The cake was more like bread which worked well, likely by design, as it was stacked on the plate with a layer of vanilla ice cream in between. It was large - too much for two of us to finish - and very yummy! We will definitely return.
I have always had a great meal. Inside can be loud as it is a large open room. Outside el fresco dinning is awesome when the weather is nice, which was our experience this time.
Always drove by but this is the first time we actually was able to stop. Ample parking in a nice atmosphere to sit down in. It filled up fast so we went up at the bar. Still very comfortable and the Wait staff were very friendly and attentive to taking our order. The chicken tenders were very very good, lightly coated and nice fresh chicken. We also had the regular pepperoni pizza which had a nice thing crust and a lot of flavor. Suggest making reservations due to how fast it fills up.
This was our first time here, we have wanted to try it for a while and finally made it for date night. The parking lot was packed so it's a very popular place. Had a good vibe walking in, could tell from the music playing (90s) I would like the atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had the calamari, which was great nice crunchy breading and tender on the inside. At that point we were very full, so We had the pepperoni pizza with a burrata which was good. We also tried the burger and fries which were also very good. Will definitely be back to try other things.
I went there for the first time yesterday and was very impressed with the menus and atmosphere. It was hard to choose what to order because there were many options that sounded good. We got the chicken marsala stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and flavor-wise they were awesome, however i guess i didnt expect the chicken to be pulverized and mixed into the whipped cheese and herb spread. If it wasnt listed as having chicken in it on the menu i would not have believed that there was chicken in the dish. They offer an up charge to get two pieces of crostini with it which honestly they should just tack onto the price and give the bread with it. The sauce in the pan is begging for bread dipping. Just charge what you want for it and start serving it with the same amount of pieces of bread as there are mushrooms. I ordered the Calabrian Kiss and my server warned me it was “hot.” I asked how hot was hot and even though they said it was 7/10 i had a feeling that was a big exaggeration and IF it were to end up being too spicy for me i did have the option to order something else. The dish was less spicy than some Buffalo chicken ive had. Its not even a 2/10. And im not a spice freak. I definitely would and want to go back and try more of the menu. They just might need to reassess how things are described
El lugar y el servicio es muy bueno, la comida ss deliciosa pero no me gusto la forma en que la sirven.
Really nice looking restaurant. The service is excellent as well. My only issue with the restaurant was just the mediocre food. Everything looked fantastic. When you tasted it, there really wasn’t a lot going on flavor wise. This restaurant seems to be very big on portion control. The cheese burger Rangoon taste like a burger that didn’t have the patty in it. There was barely any ground beef in there. Even the cups they give you to drink from were very small. I asked for some honey mustard and they actually charge me $.25 for it. I just thought that was laughable. The $30 chicken sandwich was nothing special unfortunately. The chicken was cooked well but the sandwich had no flavor. I ordered the short rib tacos, and it was way too sweet. The salsa that came with it tasted like pure lime. To pay $23 for two tacos, all I can say is that it was a bit of a disappointment. I also ordered a five dollar side salad, which was excellent. The side salad was the best thing I ordered. So all in all, I spent $100 including tip on lunch. It left a lot to be desired.
Overall it's a very nice place. The staff was very friendly. I hate to give it just three stars because most of the food was good. The burgers and steak tips were good but the "old school" steak and cheese was wrapped in paper and foil, that's a red flag. I asked to add grilled onions and was told it could not be modified in any way, another red flag. It was good, but certainly not worth $18 plus $4 for sweet potato fries (also good but not worth the money). The calamari appetizer was delicious but a very small portion for the price and definitely not the same amount as in the picture someone shared seven months ago. It's good food but nothing really worth the very high prices. If you go, get the burger, stick with the chips, fries are not worth the extra $$.
Everything is just average. Very creative menu that is solid but doesnt always deliver. The staff is new and young and thats always an issue. Brittany is wonderful. Shes keeping the staff afloat. There's nothing truly disappointing here but there's nothing here memorable either. Fine local spot overall for elevated casual dining.
It looks like they have an awesome outside area, but inside very gray and gloomy atmosphere. Not a fan of the chicken wings, dry rub was still powdery. The drinks were fine.
Brandon and Ashley were my servers, and they were rock stars. The pizza was amazing, and the chicken tenders were delicious. The music they were playing was some weird cover station that seemed to go out of its way to find the worst covers of every popular song from the last 40 years.
Went to have dinner with my closest friends and had a great experience. The server was courteous and checked in on us periodically. The food dine-in experience was phenomenal and I enjoyed one of the entrées so much that I ordered a pizza to go; I would have given them five stars but more than half the pizza was burned (crust and underside). Quality control on a $20 pizza from a nice restaurant should be higher; I shouldn’t have to check it before I leave. I would definitely eat here again but double check a to go order before heading out.
Definitely won’t be back, which is disappointing because the atmosphere is great and the bartenders are attentive and provide excellent service. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The food was just okay, but the biggest issue is the pricing, which feels excessive. We ordered three drinks (one was just a local beer), an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms that cost an outrageous $25, and two sandwiches. With tip included, well deserved for the bartender, the total came close to $150. The quality and portion sizes simply didn’t justify the cost. I’m honestly not sure why this place is always so crowded.
Been here three times trying to give it a fair chance. For the menu prices, the food really falls short. $22 for a turkey sandwich that’s not served with fries. they give you unsalted, which tasted stale, bland potato chips. No napkins with the togo order. The menu is also pretty extensive, and looks good at first glance. But everything i’ve ordered has been painfully mediocre. This place is good for corporate gatherings, but if you’re spending your own money - don’t.
Nada extraordinario
Felt like we were being watched while eating the women kept coming in and looking at everyone with her tablet then checking checks at the bar to see how long people were seated They are so in a hurry to get another party to be seated
I ordered 2 pizzas and was given an estimated time to pick up then was called to pick up at 12:17 and not the 12:47 that it said online… we got there to pick up at 12:20 and they weren’t ready… then 30 mins of waiting I was told they didn’t put the pizza in until I got there to make sure it wouldn’t be cold which was frustrating because it was to be ready for 12:17 so after being there the 30 mins (so our pizzas would not be cold) we get home to cold pizza anyways… totally put a bad taste in my mouth… which is sad because they have great allergy friendly food but to be called and told one thing and then them not even put it in to be cooked until we got there was absurd and I wasn’t told that was why it was taking so long until a few mins before finally receiving the pizzas. I don’t recommend pick up… that’s terrible customer service and it should have been told to me prior to getting there or ordering. So disappointed.
My husband and I went with another couple. We sat at the pizza bar, which was fine. We sat there for 10 minutes before anyone came over. She bought us each a water when she did, then disappeared again for another 10 minutes. Came back and took our drink order. Drinks were fine, altho pricey. Our server, Maya, was very friendly and good at her job. But I was not happy at how she took the order. She started with me, I got a burger. She said, "is smashed on the grill good for you"? I said yes, since I didn't know there was another option. My friend ordered the same way. When she took my husband's order, she said, "is smashed on the grill good for you or do you want it cooked to order"? I wish I knew that was an option! It didn't say that anywhere on the menu either. Kind of stupid. Food came in a timely manner. Burgers were just ok. Kind of dry. VERY messy. I upgraded to fries. They were good. Overall, we were unimpressed. The place is insanely overpriced.
I’ve been to Blackie’s 3 times and not once has been a pleasant experience. The latest time I went was for a birthday. We had a party of 6 and being on a Friday night our group made reservations. We arrived early and checked in and had to wait an extra half hour before our table was ready. Despite the fact that we had reservations our table was not sat first and people without reservation that came in after us sat first. It was a smaller party so maybe they didn’t have a table that would fit us. Ok. When they finally do sit us they force us into a table clearly meant for 4 people with extra chairs pulled up. When we requested to sit in a larger booth they told us it was “not possible” and didn’t give us a reason why. Once we were sat I notice that the people who came in after us were sitting in identical tables. Same size. Why we weren’t sat first is not clear to me. The table that we requested remained empty for half an hour then had TWO people sit at it. Maybe it doesn’t fit 6? Wrong. Immediately after that couple left a party of 6 was sat there. Why we couldn’t have that table? I’m not sure. Why didn’t they sit us at a similar table and pull up chairs instead of sitting people that came after us? I’m not sure. Food was good and the server was alright. Menu also has a lot of GF and food sensitivity items which is nice. Wouldn’t recommend unless you like waiting and overpriced food.
Went with a party of coworkers and was disappointed by the under seasoned food. A plus was the wide variety of healthy options and accommodated allergens easily. But, it was very bland - one of my colleagues even expressed disappointment that there wasn’t salt available. The music felt like I was trapped in 2013 and the atmosphere is a bit cold. Our waitress was pleasant but I won’t return.
We eat out every Friday and Saturday night. All local places and zero chain restaurants. Usually we're a party of 2 but this time it was a party of 5. I've never experienced a place that can't change something so basic. I ordered a burger on the menu that came with Canadian bacon on a pretzel bun. I wanted regular bacon instead of Canadian. Server came back informed me the chef won't do it!!! Really? OK no problem. Give me the other burger that comes with regular bacon but instead of the onion roll bun can I please have the pretzel roll cuz i dont like onion rolls? Server came back again and said the chef won't swap the buns!?!?!? You can't do something that basic and easy? I'll bet someone has served one of those burgers on the wrong bun by accident before. I've never seen something so easy to do not be honored for a paying customer. These are $24 burgers not $14-$18 like 90% of all the other restaurants in the area. If i had an onion allergy would you swap the bun in that circumstance or just deny me any food thats prepared with onions? Btw when another person at my table ordered a different burger they were asked if they wanted bacon or not so what's the problem with changing the bacon or bun on my burger? We've been a regular customer here since they were down the street in a different location but this was unfortunately our last visit. We'll take our money somewhere else where the owners and chefs make us feel like they want us to enjoy our meal
Empty bar, yet the service was unbelievably slow. The bartender was lazy and uninterested, and the margarita was the worst I’ve ever had. Extremely overpriced for terrible drinks and disappointing food. Definitely not worth it.
I've been to Blackies a handful of times, always hoping it'll improve, and always dissapointed. Food is usually good but service is bottom of the barrel, every single time, drinks left empty, food delays, incorrect food once it eventually comes. Today a few coworkers decided to order take out there, I figured take out would be safe.... of the 7 people 5 ordered burgers or sandwiches and got no fries/ chips/ sides. So $19-$26 for a mediocre burger... not sure how all 5 orders were missing the chips or fries the menu said were included. But we were all thoroughly disappointed. I figured take out would be safe because there was no waiter/ waitress to forget the drinks, food, etc. Apparently they cant get take out right either. Can't tell you how the burger is, it wasn't cut in half and I was in office with no utensils, so hopefully I can salvage it later. But $25 ... for probably $5 worth of ingredients poorly assembled. This will be my last visit.
