From the moment I walked in, the service was incredible. Anai, Roni, and Chris made me feel truly welcome and took great care of every detail. The food was delicious, classic Black Bear comfort, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We were here for a fundraiser benefiting Holding Institute of Laredo, and the staff went above and beyond to support the cause. It’s rare to find a place where you can enjoy a hearty meal and feel part of something bigger. Only thing missing? Butter the mascot, but I’ll be back! 🐻 Highly recommend Black Bear Diner Laredo for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, and especially when dining for a cause.

06/2025 Stopped into this brand new Black Bear Diner to check it out. First and foremost I was greeted by some of the friendliest wait staff I have ever experienced. Since this place is brand new everything was super clean. I ordered the Santa Maria tri-tip, mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was outstanding! Next time I'm in Laredo I will definitely stop by because I hear their breakfasts are amazing, especially the pancakes. Until then.....

Me and my wife came in today for the first time and we immediately received a welcome as well as home comfort diner vibes. The diner is very outdoorsy and the bear theme is absolutely adorable. Our waitress was Amber and she made our breakfast even more enjoyable as we ordered the Volcano pancake breakfast and Chili with cornbread muffin! We will definitely be coming back soon and ordering more cornbread muffins, I mean just look at them! Amazing service and incredible food! Thank you Amber!

My immediate family and I went here yesterday for the first time, but my cousins and uncle and aunt had frequently ate here. We went at a time when it wasn’t too busy. Black Bear Diner in Laredo is excellent! Our experience was great! The server or waitress was overall friendly and nice! She attended to all our needs. Shoutout to Clarissa (sorry if I misspelled your name)! Also, there was a server (I believe) who took the time to close the windows to block out the sunlight from coming in! Thank you so so much, sir! Appreciate it! There were so many cute bear pictures everywhere! In fact, this diner has bear statues inside and outside, perfect for taking awesome pictures with the whole bear fam! There is even a small bear shop inside and a black and white newspaper bear menu! My younger sister enjoyed her Cub cake so much she gave this diner a 5 STAR. I thoroughly enjoyed my food. I did not expect 2 beary big fluffy pancakes, but I am berry glad I came with a hungry bear appetite! I recommend this diner to all my dear loved ones and to all my dear friends. I even recommend this diner to everyone who reads this review! You can come with your big bear family or even a small bear family or you can come with your beary sweet heart! The portions vary. You might need to come in with a big bear appetite or you may need to learn to share because sharing is caring! However you come in, be sure to try out their specials! Also, you will need to have a very high level of patience. The food comes in about 30 minutes or so. It is because there are only a few chefs and cooks but plenty of servers. I really wanted to try this place but realized it was already noon and thought breakfast was done. It turns out they have BREAKFAST ALL DAY. I got the Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. It is a lot of food, but delicious! The breaded chicken was cooked great, and so were the eggs. The hasbrowns were different than what I'm used to, but still not bad. The plate came with toast, but I was able to substitute it with pancakes, which were very fluffy and delicious as well. The orange juice is also great and fresh, but it is pricy. Service was wonderful, and so was the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this place! We also had chicken and waffles plus a kids meal mac and cheese. The family really enjoyed those as well.

It’s a great new diner and cute with all the bears. Food was great the portions are big even we ended up share from each other. The staff is very friendly we had mix up when ordering but it was fixed with the help of our server. At the time when we when it was busy very loud and lively. Definitely will be going back ❤️

Great place to have breakfast at any time. Our Server Nadia E. was great, very attentive and friendly. She recommended us a variety of items in the menu and they were all tasty. Coffee was amazing and California benedicts simply delicious. Place was clean, with a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and come back soon!

Cute place! Staff were friendly and attentive. The brunch food was delicious! We waited about 15 mins for a table for 2 on a Saturday morning. It's a popular place but the front staff were really efficient at getting people seated and served. We will be back!

BBD is our go to for american comfort food. They have always had great service and a clean establishment & bathrooms. The food portions are pretty big which is a plus for your money. I love that the orange juice is freshly squeezed. The bacon & sausage is outstanding. The blueberry pancakes were pretty good and the coffee is good which is a must. The country fried steak was ok.

Our food was good. My sister and I got iced coffees but we both agreed they tasted more like a chocolate milk. Granted I got the iced vanilla and she got the mocha. Our server was friendly but rarely came around.

Black Bear Diner is a California original, now found across truck stops, and even their own restaurants popping up like this one. This one in particular offers a mixed experience. While lunch and dinner are generally good, breakfast can be hit or miss. This review dives into a recent visit to a newer location to help you decide what to order. For older patrons, Black Bear Diner is a solid choice due to its respectful service, speed, and above-average food. However, younger diners might find breakfast underwhelming. The eggs were bland and wet, and the sausage was excessively greasy with an odd, sweet flavor that overshadowed its appeal. Despite great service and timely food delivery, the breakfast missed the mark. The waffle, while visually impressive with its bear claw design, was a significant letdown. It was dry and tasted like overly sweetened pancake mix rather than a genuine Belgian waffle. It's advisable to avoid the waffles until improvements are made. To end it on a high note, I’d say if you get most sandwiches, burgers, dinner options in general you’ll be set, and I have to say the home-fries were the bomb, that was the best part of the meal.

We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary at this cozy new spot, and I was immediately drawn to its bear-themed facade and log-cabin charm. While the food was generally okay, I was let down by the fried chicken. As a fan of Max's Fried Chicken from the Philippines and Church's Fried Chicken, I was expecting a similar taste experience. Unfortunately, the chicken arrived with a thick, dark brown crust that was almost burnt. I didn't want to make a fuss on our special day, so I opted to just have a few bites and asked my son if I could try his chicken fried steak instead, which turned out to be good-tasting. Despite the food hiccup, we had a wonderful time sharing stories and enjoying each other's company in the relaxed atmosphere. I appreciated the peaceful ambiance, a welcome change from the loud chatter often found in popular restaurants. Overall, it was a lovely celebration, and I'm just glad we got to spend quality time together.
