As an individual that knows her way around the kitchen especially with dietary restrictions such as gluten and dairy, I find this shop to be such a WIN! I can step back from making things myself and enjoy some baked goods that are homemade with love. Their options are delectable, all gluten free choices taste just as great and the wheat based options and the atmosphere is so cozy inside!
This is a small place so if you plan to find a place indoors, try to go during the week. Otherwise, there is plenty of space outdoors. Favorite all day eats: Bacon cheddar puff and Coxhinas Catipury. Favorite sweet treats: Peach danish or Coffee cake. And the bagged coffee is great! All 3 options!
Lots of gluten free treats!! Great variety and taste. I have celiac and a wheat allergy and I have never had a problem here. Staff is delightful! Very cute shop with a nice yard for kids to play.
I absolutely adore this little bake shop!! A little bit of Texas and a little bit foreign, a deadly combo for me to easily loose my paycheck in sweets and meals! My favorites are the bowls and anything from their desserts. The owners, Katie and Donna are very passionate about the food they sell and their custom cakes. A Leander gem and a bucket-list must!!
I have no pictures because I ate my peach pinwheel too quickly 😂 it was so perfect I can’t even explain. The texture of the pastry dough was light and crisp. The syrupy peach filling was sweet and the little bit of cream cheese in the center was so decadent. I’m only sad I live so far away!
I emailed with this bakery for a few days and the person I spoke with was very patient and answered all my questions about the kind of cake that would work for us. My daughters puppy themed cake turned out way cuter than I had imagined! She loved it! Thank you so much and we are happy we found a bakery near home now that we will continue to use!
I’ve been coming here since 2019 and it’s my favorite coffee shop and bakery. Everything is delicious and they change up the menu every season so you can try things all the time. Their coffee is stellar. It is my Cheers and everyone is so warm and welcoming. I only order custom cakes from them. Whenever I bring out of towners they lament that they don’t live here. Truly a special place. I cannot say enough good things
I would highly recommend this bakery. They made a 3-tier cake for my granddaughter’s Quinceanera. I sent a picture of a complex design that she wanted for her Princess & the Frog theme, and they communicated thoroughly at every stage and created it perfectly. And not only that, but the cake was extremely delicious, delivered on time and with care. I did not know about this bakery before but will definitely look forward to trying out their other offerings.
The one area that needs improvement is how they take orders. They have one cashier and don’t have anyone taking coffee orders. It can take 15-25 minutes to get through the line. Great coffee with gluten free baked goods. I rarely find a place with great tasting baked goods that are not loaded with sugar. Their muffin had a nice balance of flavor and sweet.
We are so lucky to have a bakery this skilled, this easy to communicate and work with, this efficient, and this DELICIOUS here in Leander! Everything about working with them on my custom cake exceeded my expectations. My walk-in experience ordering other baked goods at the counter was equally positive. It's a great place to order a cake from but also perfect for a weekend cup of coffee and breakfast or special treat.
Every visit to Casa Costa, I order a coffee, pastries, and a concerning number of coxinhas. My husband always thinks he's hearing my order wrong. He's not.
Casa Costa is such a lovely little coffee shop and bakery. I love the atmosphere and how cozy it is. It has inviting music, friendly staff, and an approachable menu. It sets itself apart from the "cool" coffee shops where I feel like they have a gigantic, complicated menu and blasting techo. There are great options for both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of shade. This is a great place for meeting up with friends or a business meeting alike. The bake shop has a good variety and all the cakes that come from here are absolutely stunning.
What a cozy little bake shop! The pastries were amazing. The chocolate chip pecan scone was the best scone I've ever had. Everything was top notch. We will visit again.
We ordered our wedding cake and desserts from Casa Costa and they made it so easy to work with them. We never got to try any of our desserts because our wedding guests ate them all before we were able to get to them so we assume they were good! The cake tasted delicious and we can't wait to relive the memory when we eat the left over cake on our year anniversary!
Our cake was so delicious! Donna Costa and her team were so responsive and helpful! We initially met her after attending a mutual friends wedding that used her company for their wedding cake and I remember it being so good! I really liked how well she took care of us as customers and was very creative with the flavors of our cake. I got so many compliments after my wedding! I’m so glad I hired her!
Cute little place with friendly staff and tasty food! Enjoyed my cortado and their version of bacon, egg and cheese empanada - made with flaky pastry crust as opposed to the doughy crust. Very yummy! They have lots of outdoor seating so grab a friend and enjoy some of their delicious food and the beautiful weather. Will definitely come back!
Fun little spot for families! There's balls and rockets in a bin outside, and plenty of greenspace to play. As for the food, the meat related dishes are excellent! Best we've had in the Austin Area for a bakery/coffee shop. Good prices too.
I absolutely love this local bake shop and restaurant. Their pastries are adorable and beautifully made and their breakfast/brunch food items are so delicious! My favorite is their gravy and biscuits, I highly recommend!! Although, I must suggest looking at their online menu on their site for updates on foods that are or are not available thay day. My roommates and I love occasionally having their breakfast foods on Sunday mornings which definitely make the day better. But fare warning that there will be a VERY long line of people the moment they open at 9am so be prepared! Their food and pastries are worth the wait.
We were visiting from out of town and randomly stopped by this coffee shop, so glad we did! We discovered the most amazing pastries, and the sausage cream cheese one was hands down our favorite. It was warm, flavorful, and just hit the spot. We tried to go back again before leaving town, but our plans didn’t work out, and honestly, we were so bummed. Definitely a spot we’ll return to next time we’re in the area!
Casa Costa Bake Shop’s cakes are so delicious and AMAZING! We found them because they had done the cakes for friends’ of ours wedding and we were those people who had one piece of each of the four flavors because they were that good. Our own wedding was no exception. We did a small cake for us to cut and four types of cupcakes (flavors listed below). It was all so delicious and Donna worked with us to make each flavor special (like adding walnuts on top of the the maple/spice cupcakes and adding green to the mint/chocolate chip buttercream). The flavors were: Almond cake with raspberry filling (our small cake which I couldn’t stop eating) Vanilla Sand (their signature) Dark chocolate cake with salted caramel buttercream Spice cake with maple buttercream Chocolate chip cake with mint buttercream Everything was amazing and we are so glad we went to Casa Costa! Our only complaint/incident was that we expected the delivery to be there by 3/3:30, but by 5 (ceremony time) it hadn’t arrived. There was definitely a moment of panic, but it worked out fine as our coordinator was able to get it sorted out and everything was set up in time for dinner. Thank you Donna and the Casa Costa team for making our wedding so deliciously sweet!!
We love this place! My wife just got what is probably the best vanilla latte she's ever tasted. But the noteworthy items are the baked goods, like the chocolate chip pecan scone or the lemon blueberry pound cake. And now that it's warming up, the abundant outside seating helps to round out the bake shop experience.
We ordered a two tier birthday Cake with Tres Leches and Chocolate Butter Cream as the flavors. It turned out to be fantastic and every one of our guests loved it! This is our usual to go coffee place but the their custom order cakes are amazing! Kimberly was fantastic in coordinating what we wanted and delivered it with perfection!
Wow, what a great little find. We heard about this place from a friend. The pastries, coffee and breakfast are very good. Really neat inside area too. The outdoor seating is really good. They have turquoise blue picnic tables with outside lighting in the trees. They have a really nice outdoor grassy area with toys, balls, and pool noodles for the kids to play with. Even in the summer there is alot of shady trees to sit under. The kids ordered the chocolate chip banana nut bread and Brigadeiro Cake with Oreo's. The kids also ordered hot chocolate and they made homemade whip cream from scratch. Highly recommend this place for either a coffee meeting, or just a family gathering for coffee and breakfast. They also have WiFi available as well. We will definitely be coming back to enjoy this place. Amazing atmosphere!
Dropped the kids off for their first day of school and came here to get some coffee and breakfast! We got a giant, (I mean it) cinnamon roll, a quiche, and a puff pastry filled with egg, chesse, meat and onions. Everything was delicious! I highly reccommend stopping by when you are in the area.
Awesome local bakery! Highly recommended. Thank you so much for the Moana cake you did for our 4 year old daughter: it looked and tasted amazing! We had a lot of compliments from other parents. We also love your other pastries, like your maple-cinnamon cupcakes, and your chocolate-bourbon pecan pie: yum! Keep up the good work 😊
Food is great, but there needs to be more restrictions on how many people come in and out of the shop at the same time. It's not really comforting having over 30 people wait in line inside the shope, stacked up on top of each other. The food is amazing, but having this many people around each other just doesn't feel safe. Maybe have restrictions and only have like 10 inside and make the rest wait outside? Just a thought. Much better service the 2nd time around! Updating review! Well staffed! 05OCT2022.
Local high quality bakery and restaurant is worth the trip for real delights! Lots of freshly baked goods are available all baked in house. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. I had a Danish, others had coffee cake, quiche, and more. All were delicious if not inexpensive. The venue is charming with interior seating with A/C or outdoors on numerous tables. You will be glad you discovered this local gem..
Amazing place! I got a special order gluten-free dairy-free cake and they made it perfectly! It is awesome to find a bakery that can make special order baked goods for people with food allergies. They are very friendly and helpful, and were able to answer all my questions. The cake was spectacular! Much larger than I expected (which is fine!) and tasted really great!! The icing was perfect! We will be ordering from this place again in the future for sure!
What a gem in the heart of Leander! I’m sad that I lived in Leander for nearly 4 years before discovering this place. The sausage puff pastry is phenomenal and the chai latte puts Starbucks to shame. Service is great and the cake balls are addicting.
This is a great stop for breakfast or brunch. The coffee has a great flavor and the food is delicious. I ordered biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and fruit. The meal was the best biscuits and gravy I’ve had. Lots of flavor and not too heavy. You know the place is good when even the side fruit was fresh and yummy. I got a banana Nutella muffin and pumpkin cream cheese muffin to go. The place is cute and the pastries all look enticing. Fresh accordingly if you plan to eat there as you will have to eat outside. I can’t recommend this place more other than the prices seeming a bit high.
The CUTEST little spot! Not only is the place super cozy but also the food… I mean wow. This is the kind of baked goods you can’t get anywhere else. Me and my husband are already planning to come back later this week with a few friends to show them this hidden gem!! They even have pies for the holidays! 12/10 must go!
We did our wedding cake (and cupcakes) with Casa Costa, and it was AMAZING. Seriously - the cake looked incredible and was so delicious. The staff was wonderful to work with and we highly recommend them if you're in the market for an event cake. Oh and we tried like 20 things at the bakery before committing... EVERYTHING we ate, savory or sweet, was out of this world delicious.
Cute little bake shop in Leander. My girlfriend placed an order for a birthday cake for her sister's birthday. There were so many tasty options to choose from and placing the order was a smooth process. We provided some basic ideas of what we were looking for and let the shop take it from there. They provided a cute detailed sketch of the cake design and the final product looked better than we could of imagined. The birthday girl adored the cake and everyone bragged about it at the party. Truly talented decorators, friendly staff, and overall great tasting final product. Whether it's just buying a few cake pops or ordering a custom cake, I could not recommend this bakeshop more.
My family and I absolutely love this place.Whether it’s you and some girlfriends, guy friends, with your spouse,or your kids it’s a great place. My daughter is 19 months old and this is one of our favorite places to just come sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather or sit and enjoy their inside. They have something for everyone. Coffee, cinnamon rolls, and protégés fries are AMAZING.I also had my daughter two cakes made for her first birthday. One was her smash cake and the other was a three tier cake. They we’re beautiful. We love the atmosphere here.Staff is always nice and friendly.
Casa Costa Bake shop made my wedding cake dream come true! Not only were they so easy to work with and communicate with, they were able to execute my very specific cake design idea and we were beyond happy with the result! Of course the cake was super delicious and all the flavors they offer are incredible. Casa Costa Bake Shop is an exceptional choice for anyone looking for a beautiful and delicious wedding cake!
I’m officially signing a contract to only get my custom cakes from Casa Costa from now on. This cake exceeded my expectations. Katie, from the Casa Costa team, was a dream to work with, timely in her response, and captured every detail I hoped for in this cake. It was a show stopper at the party, everyone said it was too pretty to cut, many believed it was a sculpture because of how perfect it looked. Beyond that, the cake itself was delicious, rich and many of our party guests described it as the freshest strawberry they’ve ever tasted. The best strawberry cake I’ve ever had. Bye, I’ll be talking about this cake for the rest of my life.
I’ve seen the raves about this place so I finally decided to order my sons custom dinosaur birthday cake from here. It was so adorable and I could not believe how fast it was eaten. Definitely the talk of the party. The staff was super friendly and they have an AMAZING selection of delicious gluten free baked goods. I can’t wait to go back and dine in next time.
I love this place so much! It's so cozy, the coffee and food is AMAZING. I honestly regret any penny I've spent at chain coffee places now that I've tried this place. So happy we have this in Leander!!
I ordered a cake for my nieces 13t birthday, we ordered it simple and elegant. I think there was a miscommunication with the simple and elegant part & when I picked it up the cake was SIMPLE -- like nothing on it but icing. I was so sad -- I asked the cashiers if I could purchase edible glitter and gold balls to decorate the cake as it was just literally a 2 tiered white cake. Unfortunately they do not sell, cake decorative items -- so Katie the baker came out to talk to me. She was incredibly sweet and kind and offered to add a little pizzazz to the cake. She came back within 10 minutes and took the cake from plain -- to the simple and elegant we were seeking! I couldn't be MORE happy with the way the end result turned out -- such a simple and easy fix and I so appreciate the extra 10 minutes Katie spent to make sure I was absolutely happy with the result. The cake looked beautiful, tasted delicious and the staff were fantastic. I highly recommend Casa Costa for their professionalism and dedication to making sure their customers are happy. Thank you Katie!!
My husband got me a birthday cake from here. He went in and asked for a custom red velvet cake and requested that they put lilies (my favorite flower) on top - one to represent each of my children. They did an amazing job! It was so beautiful. The flowers were delicate and you could tell they had each been created by hand. There were also little bits of chocolate mixed in the red velvet cake. It was almost too pretty to cut, but with hesitation, I did eventually cut myself a slice. It was heavenly. I highly recommend this bake ship if you want to make a statement or really impress someone. Thank you so much to the bakers at Casa Costa for creating such an amazing surprise. Update: My husband and I also enjoy coming here for coffee and a light breakfast. I'll pick this place over the big coffee chains any day. I've added a couple pics of our coffee below the cakes.
I heard about this place, and just had to try it out. This is my first time there, and everything was excellent. Starting with the beautiful home turned cafe, also the staff, the glass display with desserts was very cute. Our food was a to-go order and when we ate it we were 100% pleased! I remember living in Brazil and eating some of these tasty snacks. They were perfect. The recipes are on point! They sell brigadiero, cookies and cream cheesecake, beautiful cupcakes. And all kinds of things that you could gift to someone for a birthday, or if they're sick I need to pick me up, and there's no way the person could be disappointed. Go try it out, there's no way you'll be disappointed!
Always a great experience! Their GF Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins are to die for! 😋 Er, wait... no they're not... they're terrible! Don't buy these! 🤢😂 *Whew* that was a close one! 😮💨 Gotta make sure there are plenty for me! 🤣🤣 I'm a very sensitive celiac and I've never had any issues eating there. It is a regular bakery so there will always be a chance of contamination, but so far so good! I've been a customer for going on 2 years now. My daughter is not celiac and therefore she does not have to eat GF like I do. I let her try just a bite of my GF pumpkin muffin and she LOVED it! She said it was the best muffin she's ever had! Little brat stold the whole muffin after that! 😲 THAT WAS MOMMIES MUFFIN! 😭 It really is mind blowing that they're GF! I live over in Taylor but the trip to Leander and back is definitely worth it!! I just purchased 7 pumpkin muffins and I guarantee they will be gone in just a couple of days. 😂😂 Nom noms!! 😋
Casa Costa Bake Shop is a fantastic place to hang out and relax. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to catch up with friends or just unwind with a good cup of coffee. The food is fresh and delicious, and everything we tried tasted amazing. Their coffee is excellent, and the overall vibe makes you want to stay a while and enjoy the experience. Great service, great flavors, and a great place to spend time. Highly recommend Casa Costa Bake Shop if you’re looking for a cozy spot with tasty food and coffee!
i ordered my custom birthday cake here and they nailed it! everyone was in awe of it and no one wanted to cut into it. it was so gorgeous! thank you so much for making my special day even more special. not only was the cake beautiful but it tasted amazing as well.
Great little spot when you want some yummy baked goodies or different types of quiche. My husband had the baked gouda potato bacon quiche and I had their special right now which was the tomato feta. So good!
We FINALLY made it to your adorable bake shop today and are now bummed we didn’t come sooner! We bought a variety of sweet and savory items and everything has been delicious! So happy to find a REAL local bakery we can support instead of a grocery store “bakery” or “Paris” bakery where nothing is made in-house.
I stopped in here on a Friday morning around 9am to get coffee and a little snack. They have a holiday peppermint mocha latte that is amazing for those that love peppermint like I do! I ordered mine with white chocolate mocha instead of regular mocha. I also ordered a cranberry orange scone and a confetti cookie - both were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they have a lot of breakfast food choices. I was in/out within just a few minutes and the staff was very friendly and quick! Will definitely stop in again.
The Beautiful Peacock •••Wedding * cake was beyond expectations! Everyone loved the taste and the cake looked perfect, even after the trip to the designated place of marriage. Thank you again for making our day special with your incredible baking - you're the best and I highly recommend you ✨❤️✨
I had Casa Costa make my wedding cake. They did exactly what I envisioned, even adding my dress lace design on the middle tier. I was shocked by how gorgeous it turned out and came perfectly together with my wedding decorations and venue. I would highly recommend them and have them make another cake for me in the future.
We got there after the rush, so most of the savory items were gone but we got the last bacon bite pastry and OMG, so yummy! A wonderful selection of bakery treats, fresh strong tea (iced) and a selection of hot tea. Cute, clean friendly, and most important… delicious! I wish I had known about this place sooner! They have a huge selection of Gluten Free items. I did not try this trip, but will enjoy eventually.
Love this spot, I got the seasonal Brown Butter Pumpkin Shaken Espresso which you could actually taste the brown butter - very good, the seasonal quiche and the seasonal apple salad. All were excellent. I will definitely be coming back. Service is also 5/5, I accidentally dropped my quiche (totally my fault) and they were happy to remake it for me - I really appreciated that!! Thank you :)
Casa Costa designed the most beautiful and most DELICIOUS cake for my 30th birthday party. I was so blown away by the result. They also did our wedding cake which was also just as beautiful and delicious. They are so easy to work with and they pay such care to the attention to details. Can not recommend Casa Costa enough!!!
We chose Casa Costa to create our daughter’s sweet 16 birthday cake and accompanied cupcakes. We were extremely happy with it. They took my daughter’s ideas and really delivered the perfect cake and cupcakes for her party. It was better that we could have imagined. She was able to pick her flavors and little details. Guests loved the look and the flavors!
When we were thinking about desserts for our wedding, we knew we wanted to go with our local bakery, as we work right down the street from Casa Costa. We were so excited to learn that they offered wedding cakes! We knew we didn't want a traditional tiered cake, and Katie was super helpful making our vision come to life. We ended up doing several different cakes and cookies, and left the designing and display in their capable hands. Everything turned out beautifully. The cakes were even more gorgeous than expected. Our guests could not stop raving about how wonderful everything tasted. I cannot recommend this bakery highly enough. We love visiting them for their pastries and coffee, but if you are looking for a wedding cake, look no further! They have an amazing variety of cake flavors and fillings as well as other dessert options, and everything is delicious! We are so happy we chose them for our wedding!
Love this little place!! Started coming years ago, moved away and just had to stop in while visiting again! I’m a big fan of their chai, my mom loved her drip coffee and the bacon egg & cheese puffs were delicious! Blueberry muffin was amazing as well. Prices are affordable and love supporting local!
I should have posted this ages ago, but better late than never. Casa Costa made the cake/cupcakes for my baby shower and they were absolutely INCREDIBLE. Honestly, we didn’t want to eat them because they were too pretty. Fret not though, they were delicious as well. If you need any special occasion baked goods, I could not recommend them more.
We love Casa Costa! It's been one of my fave spots for years (although I don't make it out there as often as I would like). The quaint & cozy home-setting, beautiful outdoor seating area (shaded!) and lawn, DELICIOUS selection of baked goods and coffee, and savory small bites keep us coming back for more. The inside is small with not much seating, but charming and the staff are very friendly. I have not personally tried one of their cakes, but I follow them on social media and they make absolutely STUNNING cakes for birthdays, weddings, events, etc. It's a great place for meet-ups or just to chill, and has space for the kids so also good for families. This time I got their potato-bacon-gouda quiche, a muffin, some sort of pastry I forgot the name of, an oat latte, and apple juice for the kids and myself, and it was all very tasty! We will be back of course and look forward to trying new things!
My photos are from going two Fridays in a row. This place is 20 minutes from where I live, but I had to try the gluten free treats I saw online. The first time I went, I got the GF chocolate caramel cake in a cup (it had a hint of cinnamon/pumpkin spiciness), GF Samoa tart, gf cookies and cream cupcake (my favorite of the bunch), and gf pumpkin cream cheese muffin. I didn't order the cheese balls, because they're made to order and would take 15 minutes. On my second trip, I planned to wait for it, and I'm so happy I did. I ate it as soon as I got into my car and it was hot and delicious! My husband got to have one when I got back home and he said it was really good even though it was cold by then. I also ordered the gf chocolate chip cookies, GF oatmeal cookie sandwich (my favorite of this bunch), GF brigadeiro torte (second fave but really rich) and GF chocolate cupcake with pink frosting (strawberry? Cherry?). I will definitely be back for more! 🥰
The people and the food are great. Lots of gluten free options. We would come here more often but their ordering system is terrible. We have waited up to 20 minutes to get to the cashier where you have to order any hot beverages and hot items. This happens after you get your pastries. So you wait in a long line to get pastries, wait again to pay, and then wait to get your hot items. Plan on spending all morning to get your meals.
Cute little cafe shop, although we weren’t greeted as we got in which was a bummer. My vanilla latte was good, however the blueberry muffin was dry and they didn’t offer to warm it up. Got dirty looks from a worker who was gathering dishes from outside. Not sure why. Overall not the best experience.
The environment is nice, they have some area to seat outside, and if is cold, they will turn on the heat. Inside is small, they don’t have a lot of place to seat. Banana and Nutella muffin is good. Cappuccino too much milk. Rio bowl, yuca, steak, cheese, onions… is ok. Puffy pastry, steak is ok. Pão de queijo, small amount and I didn’t like the flavors missing salt and cheese. Coxinha, delicious, the best one, but it came cold inside. Everything for $50. Expensive for a breakfast and small quantity.
Decided to try this place out because it looked cute and homely. While the treats are quite big, I personally became sick when I ate anything with icing on it. I'm not sure if it was some sort of allergic reaction to something in the icing, or something just didn't hit. The bundt I had (which I unfortunately didn't take a picture of) was quite great! That one didn't make me sick. The anesthetics are cute, but I probably won't be coming back again
Came from out of town and stayed within walking distance. We were excited to try the pastries but were left disappointed each time in our two visits. They’re good, but just overpriced for what they offer. We paid over $20 for two breakfast items and two coffees one day. The coffees didn’t taste fully developed and weren’t anything special. And when the cook delivered my puff pastry he said “here’s your sausage puff” I told him I didn’t order the sausage, I ordered the bacon and showed him my ticket. He replied oh that’s what a meant and said it was the bacon. After going back to where we were staying and biting into it, it was indeed a sausage puff, which the filling is completely different than the bacon. Not just a meat switch up. I wanted to order a key lime bite sized pie to go, but they top it with whipped cream and not meringue, and since I don’t like whipped cream I passed. The next day I returned to try their desserts. I ordered a tiramisu cheesecake. After getting back to my room, I took a bite and realized they had topped it with whipped cream. I didn’t even think to ask since whipped cream isn’t a normal topping for tiramisu. For the price, $7, it felt like a missed opportunity to do a nice mascarpone topping with maybe chocolate swirls or shavings. Instead… just whipped cream on a some chocolate that was poured so thick that it would squish the cheesecake as you tried to push in the fork. About a third of the way in it just fell off the top as a whole so I ate the cheesecake without it. So, their food isn’t bad, it’s just not worth the price.
I love the ambience at this place. Service is great and most importantly they have excellent coffee. A bit pricey - they don't even display prices of their pastries. The only thing I found weird/odd is that they put 3% credit card surcharge back on you and they don't even mention that there will be a surcharge.
I believe that when you’re buying something, you should hope that your expectations are at least met. I visited Casa Costa after hearing so much about it from fellow Brazilians and reading reviews. I guess the hype is all about an idea of a “padaria” or bakery shop that will serve Brazilian delicacies as well in the Austin metropolitan area. I found that their feijoada is an idea of a feijoada: the foundation is there but without the taste. The pastel de nata is layers and layers of dough with a thin layer of cream which doesn’t taste at all like pastel de nata / Belém and the sonho is just an oversized donut with heavier dough and a (very little) bit of Dulce de leche filing sprinkled with sugar. Way too sweet and the taste of sugar is all I got from it. The food I bought did not satisfy my cravings for these foods. I have no memory of something I ate that tasted good. Their products are bit overpriced in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind paying that price if the food tasted better. They do have very nice and courteous servers. But again, that’s not what you’re paying for.
Man... I love Casa Costa! They have the best iced vanilla chai latte and scrumptious treats! However, this time, the Coxinha was disappointing. I get these every time from my Brazilian family members, but Casa's dough was MUSHY and tasted completely raw. The aioli was DYNAMITE, and I wanted to devour it, but it did not match well with the raw dough Coxinha.
The staff was friendly. The food from the kitchen was okay, but this is subjective. It's a beautiful place for a mini brunch date. Down to two stars because flies were landing on the pastries being sold with no one doing anything about it. Make sure you get the pastries that are covered or skip them. Hopefully, the kitchen is a lot cleaner than the food at the front with flies.
