SOOO cute! budget friendly and portions were HUGE. definitely recommend for the college crowd. free parking too!
I really liked my experience at this place! Even though, I only had takeout since it was during my lunch break, however, it was fairly easy to make an order, and it was ready when I got there. When I got back to my desk, the food was good and had so much! I ordered the deluxe chicken teriyaki bowl which basically came with a large salad and a large serving of rice and teriyaki. Was so good and filling, but not something I would eat for lunch whilst at work again. It made me feel so sleepy afterwards, but I would definitely come back for the service, atmosphere, and especially the food! I also had a boba with oat milk- yes, different, but I was gladly satisfied and would order that again as well!
Literally my favorite food place ever. It feels fresh and light but the portion sizes are still really filling and the ambiance is exceptional. I live too far to go regularly anymore but I legitimately make excuses to get back to La Brea just to go here. Fave items are: mint lemonade, garlic shrimp bowl, chicken teriyaki plate, and chocolate chip matcha cookies
Wow what a beautiful cozy little garden in the heart of LA. This place is popular, it was fully packed every table taken around noon on a Monday. I was quite impressed with the ambiance. I had a spicy salmon Rice bowl, it was quite tasty. The only downside was there wasn't much salmon, rather a lot of rice. I understand for the price it's still a decent value and filling portion. Would be nice to offer an extra serving of salmon as an option. I also asked if I could have both tuna and salmon mixed which was not an option. Still a wonderful place to enjoy a meal outside on the patio garden in the shade!
The staff was so kind and nice the place was so nice and well kept it just feels so at home. The food was worth the price, when you cant finish it you can ask for a take out which is a win for me ! As for the parking I looked for free parking which was a few blocks down, so I'm not sure if they have their own parking but that didn't really affect me.
Where to start? For starters the staff, very welcoming and friendly! They have plenty of food options on their menu for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans! The pricing on every item is beyond reasonable 🙏🏽 I'm shocked that they are not busier but I'm glad that we were able to enjoy it the way my friends and I did. We got a variety of meals: chicken teriyaki bowl, spicy salmon bowl, the salmon bowlito, and two sushi rolls! Everything was amazing 🤩 10/10 recommend.
You breathe fresh air here, a beautiful restaurant surrounded by spectacular plant life and a self-service vibe. A great place to enjoy a meal by yourself, to meet up with close friends or to go on a first date. There’s space inside to eat at tables, and also on their patio outside. There’s even an area past the patio that feels like a secret garden, it’s tucked behind plants and is so very inviting for a cup of tea and a good read. It reminds me of a Hawaiian plate restaurant fused with Japanese cuisine offerings like Udon noodles and sushi rolls. Their salads and fish are FRESH ✨And the portions are huge. I got a bowl of chicken udon that came with a delicious broth and perfectly fat udon noodles. My husband got their teriyaki chicken bowl and my cousin got their sashimi salad. They also make their own sodas and have a huge selection of teas, coffee and baked treats. Dog friendly! There’s plenty of free parking in the lot next door and also metered parking along the streets. Be sure to take a look at the ladder next to the bathroom, it’s trippy to see a door right by the ladder!
Beautiful cafe. Covered in plants. They now also sell plants (new). Great Japanese food at reasonable prices. For example, a veggie plate is $16 and comes with sushi veggie roll, salad, rice, tofu, a shot of miso vegetable soup, and a shot of cookies. So a full meal. The drinks and desserts are great, too. Lots of gluten free cookies, boba, and other delights.
Food, service, and atmosphere all 5/5. I got the BBQ Catfish (the catfish is lightly breaded and fried) Bowl-Lito, incredible. The people were super friendly and patient, with so many tasty options I didn’t know what to get. The atmosphere was marvelous, plants everywhere (all of them looked very healthy, many of them for sale). I *loved* my green tea strawberry chocolate chip cookie and banana milk tea.
I’m so happy that I finally went to this restaurant! First of all, they have excellent vegan options and sweets, so it wasn’t easy for me to choose exactly what I wanted. I ended up choosing the Tofu Rice Bowl with a side of edamame. I also selected the Apple Mint Lemonade which was sooooo good!! I’ve never had a lemonade drink this delicious before. The bowl itself was huge by the way. I’m used to most bowls being cute and small, but this was literally big enough for two people. For that, I am very grateful! It had fried tofu, zucchini, chickpeas, mixed greens and covered in a peanut sauce. Best meal I’ve had this week hands down!
** Service ** Food * Atmosphere Solid simple menu. The servers and hosts are wonderful. My go to is the vegetable plate and usually get an appetizer. Prices are OK- I wouldn’t say cheap but doesn’t break the bank. Quality of food is wonderful, everything feels healthy. Inside and outside seating. Takes credit cards. Cookies are bomb. Street parking. Closed Sunday.
Right off bustling Wilshire Blvd is this cozy and garden-like restaurant serving a variety of Japanese style food. I first discovered this place after a visit to LACMA, and decided to check it out again being back in the area. It is a very casual dining setting, so do not expect to be served and you bus your own tables. It can be tricky to find seating during busier hours, but there are still plenty of options all within the lovely tropical setting. The food portions are rather large for the price point which was a plus, definitely shareable servings. Serving other drinks besides soda/juice/matcha would have elevated the experience for me. Nevertheless this is a nice spot to visit if you are looking for something more chill off the busy Miracle Mile area.
Good price for the portion you get! I love the variety of items you get in one order for the special plates. The catfish was good and had a tasty sauce. 👍 👎 Not a huge fan of the rice they use and the dessert sampler was really disappointing. My friend said the curry was a little bland and the extra egg she ordered for her dish was kind of cold, like it came out of the fridge. The cookies had the taste and texture of Play-Doh.
This place was SO GOOD! I ordered the spicy beef udon and it was so flavorful- not very spicy though. The atmosphere was adorable as well. I loved how the plants were all around the place. It’s one of those clean up after yourself spots so that was nice. However I will say it’s not very spacious. The inside of the restaurant will not hold too many people and once people start filling in, it does feel cramped.
We passed here many times- always were attracted by the dreamy and cute designs with all the beautiful lights. Finally, we tried their food—not very impressed… we ordered chicken udon and chicken teriyaki bowl. The chicken they used was chicken breast— very dry and poorly seasoned. The teriyaki sauce was not really the teriyaki sauce you have in a Japanese cuisine but more like a random mix of some salty ingredients. :/ The portion is huge with only $13 a bowl, which is impossible to find around this neighborhoods. I wouldn’t recommend the sushi at all. We had the shrimp tempura sushi. It came very soggy. The rice was overdone and not much flavor. For $9.5, the sushi was a waste of money. :/ With all that being said, this place has amazing sweet treat! The Green Tea Marshmallow was absolutely delicious! The nutty taste with strong green tea flavoring was a well-orchestrated combo. Interior design is quite unique and fun to be in. Highly recommend to come and check it out for their sweets and atmosphere! ❤️
Such huge portions for a healthy and filling rice bowl! Highly recommend the BBQ Catfish since you don't see it too often and super delightful. Full of flavor and fried well with a sweet glaze. It's served over some white rice and a scrumptious salad. The Albacore Garlic Bowl was good too, but more simple since it was sashimi-style. Still yummy, but not on the level as the BBQ Catfish. We also got the Roasted Squash with Ginger. It was simple, but gave good autumn/winter vibes. Paired well having it with the rice bowls. Overall, the food here is pretty healthy and delicious. Definitely check it out! Great price point too!
Lovely vibes, they did an excellent job decorating, the food was okay. The service is horrible they look so annoyed that they have to take your order but then ask for a 20% tip despite you doing everything (picking up food, bussing table) yourself. At least be nice, I’m hoping they didn’t treat us that way because our party was black.
Walking into this place is like walking into a garden nursery, a welcome relief from the noisy concrete jungle outside. You order inside and get a number, then pick up your order when your number is announced. Drinks are announced as they are ready. Then you go back for the food. The Special Fish Plate was a Bento of salad, BBQed catfish on a bed of rice, 4 spicy salmon rolls, a shot of curry soup with a hint of ginger and a small serve of dessert that I didn't enjoy. It was a healthy way of trying a bit of everything and the serve was generous. The dish was OK but not memorable. The Mint Lemonade was really refreshing, with the mint blended in - this was the true highlight. There are signs asking you to bus your own table, so there was really no service but they still expect to be tipped! 😤 I was quite enamoured with the setting until I saw this - most unimpressed, especially as an international that just returned from Europe. They may as well implement QR code ordering which would be more efficient.
The only thing to be impressed about is the atmosphere. One or the coziest places I’ve been to, BUT! We didn’t enjoy any of 4 ordered plates: sashimi salad, beef udon and 2 rolls. Udon is not made with real beef but just with ground beef which is obviously added at the end of cooking and doesn’t have any flavor. Rice in both rolls was sticky like a glue and salmon didn’t have that nice fresh flavor at all. The sashimi salad only looked huge because of the huge bowl which they fill with mix greens without any dressing at 80% of volume and only 20% with rest of ingredients. I was hoping to bring here my guests when they are in LA but guys, the kitchen is so cheap. Oh, and you have to clean the table yourself 😖 We didn’t finish our food and didn’t take leftovers home as we usually do. Unfortunately, it was unexpectedly disappointing experience
🚨 Be ready to get nickel and dimed at Yuko’s Kitchen… even when they mess up your order. 🚨 I’m not one to be a Karen, but there’s a big difference between being high maintenance and expecting basic accountability. Yuko’s Kitchen failed hard on the latter. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad via delivery, and while I’ve enjoyed their food plenty of times before, this experience was a jaw dropper. The salad showed up bone dry with no dressing whatsoever. Instead of making it right, they charged me for an extra dressing that should have been included to begin with. When I called to talk it through, the manager offered me a grand total of 50 cents and told me to just use the extra dressing I had bought separately (which, by the way, wasn’t even for me). I wasn’t asking for the moon, just a sliver of accountability. After dropping nearly $50 on two items, that response felt cheap in every possible way. I wasn’t looking for a refund or trying to make a fuss, just a basic gesture to acknowledge the mistake. Offering to replace the $6 larger side of dressing would have done the trick. But instead, I got brushed off and talked to like I was the problem. It wasn’t the missing dressing that turned me off, it was the dismissive attitude and total lack of care. I’ve been a loyal customer, but this stingy, customer last mentality spoke volumes. What could have been a $6 fix turned into a total dealbreaker.
