Our team from work ate here after a conference across the street at the convention center. The martinis were perfect, my ahi tuna entrée was delicious and a large portion, our server was prompt and friendly, and they had live music in the bar. It is expensive but I really enjoyed it and would come back for sure.
Mastro's Ocean Club downtown LA. Had a wonderful time, great food, service and atmosphere. It was my son's birthday and the server Chris couldn't have been more accomodating. He ensured everything was perfect, checking on us throughout the meal. We started with the crab cakes - I highly recommend ordering those. He had the filet, which came out perfect and I had the Chilean Sea Bass that was melt in your mouth. The lobster mashed potatoes were devine! To top it all off, we had the complementary chocolate cake, but added the Butter Cake - a must have. The ambiance was perfect, not too noisy, I have been to some michilan star restaurants that you can't hear yourself talk. This was large, but quaint at the same time. If your in LA, I recommend this as a must stop.
I had the chance to dine at Maestro Ocean Club in Downtown Los Angeles, and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, making it perfect for both special occasions and casual nights out. The meal began with fresh, warm bread that set the tone for the evening. The highlight was definitely the steak—cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. You could tell the quality of the cut and the care in preparation. Alongside it, the sides and salads were refreshing and balanced the richness of the main course. To finish, the dessert was a real standout. The chocolate cake was indulgent, moist, and beautifully presented—absolutely worth saving room for. Pairing it with a latte made the ending even sweeter. Overall, Maestro Ocean Club delivers on its reputation as one of LA’s top fine dining spots. Between the excellent food, attentive service, and upscale ambiance, it’s a place I would gladly return to and recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meal in Los Angeles.
Elegant atmosphere, though lively and energetic. Waiting time was shorter than quoted, and service remained fast and attentive throughout. A minor issue with a water glass was resolved immediately. The food was excellent, and the steak was cooked precisely to my personal preference — executed at a very high level.
Elcido and Salvador were amazing waiters. Helped us with menu options. Made us feel welcome and appreciated. Would love to comeback and be treated by staff like them. Thank you for making our experience here one of a kind!
Love this location. I come Monday's to see my favorite bartender Joaquin. He always has a smile on his face, thank you for introducing me to the butter cake, I'm hooked! The live music and staff here is awesome!
The restaurant is beautiful. They had an amazing singer. The food and service was great.

Went to this location for my birthday last night. As always, Mastros has once again delivered exceptional service &’ the food was cooked to perfection. I literally NEVER have a complaint when I go to a Mastros location. So I’m speaking for all when I say this. However, at this particular location our server was named Kaleb &’ he’s very knowledgeable in all of the menu items down to the wines and made choosing new items very easy based on how he described them to me. I was able to try some first time items because of him. When I walked into this location, there was also a live singer (didn’t catch her name) but her voice was perfection because I thought it was just music playing until I looked over. That was a GREAT touch to the atmosphere. Also not far from valet &’ plenty of beautiful areas to take nice pictures.
Frenesy my host for the evening really went above and beyond the call of duty for me. She recommended the best items and I got the filet, seafood tower, and butter cake among other things. It was so delicious and she really set the tone from my girlfriend, and I special even evening. she was truly a gem and her customer service was on point. I really appreciate how she gave me the best table in the restaurant. She deserves a raise and a promotion! 10 out of 10 stars but recommend thank you Frenesy!!
We hosted a VIP client event at Mastro’s Ocean Club during a conference in late January, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The entire team was professional, responsive, and made everything seamless, even as we finalized details over the busy winter holidays. A special thank you to Laurence for his timely communication and attention to detail throughout the planning process, and to Fitz, our lead server the night of the event, who provided outstanding service and ensured everything ran perfectly. The food, service, and execution were exactly as ordered, and we especially appreciated the flexibility with menu adjustments for dietary restrictions and allergies. Highly recommend Mastro’s Ocean Club for anyone planning a private event or client dinner.
I stopped by for a nightcap and loved the vibe. Security was welcoming and helpful, the live piano music was such a nice touch, and the bar staff was great. One bartender, I believe his name is Joaquin, made the experience even better… super efficient, warm, and friendly. Really enjoyed my time here. Will definitely keep returning.
I love this location. The food and drinks are always excellent. Joaquin always gives exceptional service and makes my drinks to perfection. I also appreciate Lamar, the manager here he makes your experience special.

I visited the restaurant on Valentine's Day. It was packed. Even with a reservation we waited about 40 minutes, but we expected a wait. The parking lots in the surrounding area price gouged their rates. We paid $100 to park. We ate the following items: jumbo lump crab cakes, sauteed shrimp, 12oz bone in filet, scalloped potatoes, lobster Mac and cheese, creamed spinach, chocolate cheesecake & bread service. Everything was great with the exception of the scalloped potatoes. I wasn't a fan, but the presentation was good. It was a busy night for the restaurant and they still brought our food out timely. The live music added a great touch to our dining experience. I would recommend that they only accept reservations on special holidays. The waiting area was packed and uncomfortable. I would return, but I'll definitely Uber next time.
Went here for a business dinner. Food, drinks and service were overall great. Delish appetizers (calamari and seafood towers)! For main entrees, the majority of my colleagues ordered the filet. There were plenty of seafood options for non meat eaters (myself) The side dishes were shareable and good portions (scallop and mash potatoes, asparagus and brocollini)Nice live music/singing in the background. Recommend!
Fine dining through and through. From the atmosphere, to the service, to the food quality and taste, to the prices. My server was Fitz and he was excellent. They were very busy the Friday night that I went, but Fitz did everything he could to make sure my dining experience was top notch. I had to wait extra long for my check and a couple food items, but Fitz ratified this by comping those items so I have no complaints and thought he did an excellent job. The food is next level. I had the bread service, the branzino, the scalloped potatoes, the black truffle gnocchi, and the butter cake. Everything was superb. I would dine here again for sure.

Review for Mastro’s Ocean Club, Downtown Los Angeles My boyfriend and I visited Mastro’s Ocean Club in downtown LA to celebrate our one-year anniversary. The ambiance was elegant, perfect for a special occasion. Our server was kind, attentive, and quick to address any issues, which we really appreciated. We started with oysters, which were fresh and absolutely delicious. My boyfriend loved his Caesar salad, and the garlic mashed potatoes were flavorful. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn when it came to the steaks. I ordered a NY strip medium rare, but it came out rare. When we asked for it to be cooked a bit more, the top was completely burnt, rendering it inedible. My boyfriend ordered a filet, which also arrived rare, and after being recooked, it came back well done. While the service and starters were great, the mishandling of the steaks was disappointing, especially given the reputation of Mastro’s and the price point. I’m not sure if it was just an off night in the kitchen, but it did put a damper on what was supposed to be a memorable evening. Overall: 3/5. Amazing service and starters, but the quality of the steaks fell short of expectations.
Went there Christmas Eve and I felt like they were not prepared for how busy they were. Restaurant was at capacity and it took a really long time for our waitress to make her rounds to check on us. Water wasn’t getting filled either. Food was good but the steak was just a little overdone for how I ordered it spent nearly $300 and probably will end up going to another Mastro’s in the future instead of this one.

This is not Mastro’s. This is a steakhouse with very good steak and subpar service that appears to be coasting on the Mastro’s name. Our group has been to many top quality steakhouses, and Mastro’s Downtown LA delivered on the food but not the service. At Mastro’s in Beverly Hills as well as Malibu, the staff has always been very attentive and informative. Our server at Mastro’s Downtown LA didn’t set up the evening well with their usual intro of the menu, no one asked if we wanted our empty water glasses refilled, cocktails were late or were not offered, we had to flag down another staff member for salt & pepper because our server seemed uninterested in glancing our way, and in the end he brought our separate checks and just set them down on the table without asking which check belonged to whom, and he rushed off as if he couldn’t be bothered to see if we wanted anything else. It was very apparent that Mastro’s Downtown LA was understaffed on a Saturday night, when they should be prepared to do their biggest business of the week. Definitely won’t be going back to this location.

Me and my boyfriend were celebrating our 4-year anniversary in LA and were excited to try Mastro’s since everyone at our hotel said the food was amazing. And the food really was amazing , but the service was more than displeasing. When we sat down, our waiter had to look at the menu in front of us to remind himself what we were celebrating which was a bit of a shock to me. Throughout the meal, there were almost no check-ins, no recommendations, and no explanation of the menu or what the restaurant is known for. I was expecting someone knowledgeable and attentive and we didn’t get that. Our dessert took 30 minutes, and the waiter completely disappeared the entire time. No update, no apology, nothing. We have had casual restaurants give us better service. Waiters that were friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited to make our meal special. That’s what we expected here, especially on our anniversary. Overall, the food was great, but the service did not match the fine-dining experience at all. I would not recommend this place. I’ve honestly had better service at the Cheesecake Factory.
I had a 9:00 PM reservation at Mastro’s on Valentine’s Day weekend. We arrived around 9:13 PM due to valet being completely full and having to find alternate parking downtown. I completely understand being slightly late, especially on a busy holiday weekend, and we checked in as soon as we arrived. What was disappointing was the wait time after that. We didn’t receive a text to be seated until 10:20 PM — over an hour later — at which point we had already decided to leave and were back at the car. Waiting over an hour past our reservation time felt excessive, especially for a restaurant at this price point. We did grab drinks at the bar while we waited, but there was no clear communication about how long the delay would be or whether our table had been given away due to arriving about 12–15 minutes late. A heads-up about the expected wait time would have made a big difference and allowed us to decide whether to stay or make other plans. I understand Valentine’s weekend is one of the busiest times of the year, but when you make a reservation at an "upscale" restaurant, you expect better time management and communication. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get the chance to dine. Disappointed with the experience and hoping management improves how they handle reservations and wait times during peak holidays.

We came to this location for a special occasion and it was anything but special. We were sat and waited an uncomfortable 5 min or so before we were presented with menus by our waiter. He acknowledged our special occasion and the took our drink orders. My wife requested sugar for her tea twice which never came until I asked a separate waiter walking in the area. We also never got a refill for the duration of our visit. After we ordered our food we didn’t see the waiter for the rest of our visit until he asked if we wanted our free dessert for our anniversary. We didn’t feel like a chocolate cake so we asked for a dessert menu and he brought it back and offered to pack our free dessert to go. He then never came to take our dessert order so I ordered it from again another server walking in the area. After dessert, again, another server brought us our check and closed us out. Needless to say, we never got our free dessert either. Overall, it was appalling and painful to pay for a meal with such low quality service. They also have a spa at the front about their dress code, which clearly wasn’t an effect because the restaurant was filled with fans in Laker jerseys, which also killed the ambience and upscale vibe that I’m used to at other Mastro‘s locations. It’s sad that I’ve had much better experiences at an Olive Garden or Chili’s.
I made an 8:00 PM reservation, arrived early, and still ended up waiting over 40 minutes without being seated. What made it worse wasn’t just the wait — it was the complete lack of transparency. The front desk repeatedly told me there were just “a few tables ahead” and refused to tell me how many people were actually waiting. Only after I insisted and stated that I was recording did they finally admit there were 15 tables in front of me. That means they knowingly misled guests instead of being honest. For a premium restaurant, this is unacceptable service and terrible management. If you cannot handle holiday crowds, then do not accept reservations you clearly cannot honor. Guests deserve honesty, respect, and at least an apology — none of which we received. Extremely disappointed and frustrated.
I had a reservation at 8:00 PM and arrived at 7:50 PM to check in. The hostess told me there were “a few tables ahead of me” and the wait would be about 20 minutes. Even though I already felt something was wrong because there were a lot of people waiting, we still waited patiently. By 8:40 PM, we still had not been seated, so I asked again. The front desk repeated the same line — “a few tables ahead, no idea how long the wait will be” — and refused to tell me how many tables were ahead of us. Only after I said I was recording did she finally admit there were actually 15 tables before us. That is completely unacceptable. This is supposed to be a high-end restaurant. With a confirmed reservation, we should not be left waiting 40 minutes with no transparency and no apology. If the restaurant cannot handle Christmas traffic, they should not accept reservations online. The attitude of the front desk was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Extremely disappointing experience.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had with a “fine dining” restaurant. I had an 8:00 PM reservation and arrived early. The hostess told me there were only “a few tables ahead” and estimated 20 minutes. We waited patiently until 8:40 PM — still nothing. When I asked again, they refused to tell me how many tables were actually ahead and just brushed me off. Only when I started recording did the hostess finally admit there were 15 tables before us. Fifteen. After repeatedly saying “a few.” No apology. No explanation. No respect. Just attitude. Having customers wait 40+ minutes with a confirmed reservation is already unacceptable. Lying about the queue, refusing to provide basic information, and showing zero professionalism? Absolutely ridiculous. For a restaurant that claims to be “high end,” this was a joke. I’d never recommend this place to anyone.
Garbage service garbage management. Get there at 6:05, seated at 6:50. 15 minutes until see a waitress. By 7:50 we have 10 minutes until the lakers game starts and every table that was seated around us was already finished with their dinner when the waitress informs us that our dinner orders were never prepared. I tell the waitress that we’re leaving because I’m not going to miss the game and ruin both events. I hand my card and am charged $275. I then wait 10 min for the manager and she tells me that she will only take off the food that they didn’t bring. So the restaurant is allowed to ruin my evening and take my money for the pleasure of doing so? I was given a $50 credit in my account which is useless now because I will never go back
I am absolutely appalled by the service i received here. The food was great as usual but the service has me never wanting to go back. I came here for my birthday. We were quickly seated and then waited. And waited. And waited. Finally after about 25 minutes we finally ordered our apps, drinks, and ordered a basket of bread. Our app came out and was delicious. Our drinks showed up and they were good but, my partners had a large chip in the glass. We waited for the server to come back to ask for a new glass and he never did so my partner just had to hope no glass was in his drink. Finally we got our food, it was great, no complaints in that department. It wasn’t until we were halfway done with our entrees and reminded 3 different people we got our bread. Seriously? Considering the table infront of us being served by the same server received there’s within 1O minutes of sitting we can’t help but wonder what that reason was. Oh and we never got a refill for our water. I’m the first person to suggest a dinner at Mastros but after this experience, I’m so disappointed in what the service here has become. I would suggest the one in Malibu or Thousand Oaks. Avoid this one if you can.
