Casalena is a vibrant restaurant known for its beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. The pizza and tiramisu are highly recommended. It can get noisy indoors, so the outdoor patio is a popular choice. Service is generally attentive and friendly.

An unforgettable first visit that promises many returns! The ambiance captivated us with its stunning interior and thoughtful design. Justin, our attentive waiter, made our dining experience even more enjoyable. While the tuna tarta was a tad dry for my taste, the stracciatella offered a unique twist on classic burrata. The Chilean Seabass stole the show—a culinary masterpiece with perfectly cooked fish complemented by delectable truffled rice. My fiancé had lamb chops and said it melts in your mouth.
Hands down best dinner experience I’ve ever had. Enjoyed the night with great company and had the pleasure to be waited on by our amazing server Zach. Zach was attentive, efficient, the friendliest, and recommended the best plates. We had the delicious wagyu meatballs, calamari, and charred octopus, as well as the hanger steak and vodka pasta. We were lucky enough to dine outside on the most gorgeous patio. Everything from the drinks to the service… absolutely excellent. Our favorite date night spot.
We were out celebrating my birthday. The food was excellent, but having a Vivian as our server was the icing on the cake! She was absolutely wonderful.
Great Italian restaurant for the valley. It's not the best in town, but fpr sure the most elegant in the valley with great value. The food is much cheaper than Italian restaurants in the city. It's really beautiful and the service was very good. The meatballs and the octopus where wonderful. The branzino and caco pepe pasta also were very tasty. Desserts can be improved
Great food, great atmosphere, and amazing service! Everything was fresh and delicious. A special thank you to our server, Stephanie — she was friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!
Went there for lunch and had a great experience with delicious food. Hamachi appetizer and whipped burrata starter were both excellent. I had the Italian sandwich and my wife a corn pasta dish. Both were great and we split an amazing kale salad. Topped off with the house made donuts for a sweet finish. Would definitely like to go back to try other dishes and the dinner menu. No reasonable parking so you practically have to valet
It was amazing and so delicious! The most interesting part was that they placed a can under the pizza, which made me laugh so much🤣. Honestly, it was such a unique way of advertising. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was excellent. Everyone was so polite and friendly. Definitely give it a try!😀
Wow we were quiet surprised by the taste/quality of the food, atmosphere, and most importantly the friendly service. I drive to the library the whole time and didn’t realize this gem. The truffle fries were amazing. There have a few Vegan options and my wife liked it. I like my chicken Parmesan (non-vegan). Will definitely come back again!
Worth every penny! Came here for a girls night and had the best time. We weren’t aware of the garden area and were immediately impressed and in awe of the space. The heated lamps were perfect and we were quite comfortable and cozy outside. Tables are a bit close together so conversation can be awkward if they are filled. Our server was amazing and let us enjoy ourselves at our own pace where other restaurants would rush you to order. The wagyu meatballs were 🤌🏼 We both had the ribeye which was great.I don’t eat greens but I did that night! Idk what they put in those greens but I absolutely loved them and that is a LOT coming from me. My steak did come out a bit more well than medium but the flavor was still good and we enjoyed the leftovers for breakfast the next day. The drinks were unique and well made. Dessert was a bit on the small side for sharing although very tasty. We had the pistachio bread pudding with lemon custard. I loved the postcard detail at the end. We contemplated coming back the next day but wanted to preserve our memory of a perfect night and not jinx it.
🌟 5 Stars for Casa Lena! Casa Lena is such a beautiful place with amazing food and a cozy atmosphere. But what truly made our experience special was the waitress — she was incredibly kind, attentive, and always had a smile on her face. She made us feel so welcome and took great care of us from start to finish. We’ll definitely be coming back soon! 💖
Absolutely loved Casalena! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a Friday night out. Despite being super busy, the service was top-notch—friendly and attentive. The staff gave excellent recommendations, and everything we tried was delicious! The food came out quickly, which was impressive given the crowd. Valet parking is available, but we found street parking nearby. The appetizers were a highlight, especially the wagyu beef balls, which were absolutely amazing! I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
Casalena is a great spot. The atmosphere is great, relaxed yet classy, and the service is always on point. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food is excellent, with well-prepared dishes that hit the mark in both flavor and presentation. It's clear they put thought into their menu. Overall, a great experience and a place I’d definitely recommend.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Casalena and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. This newly opened restaurant is a true gem, offering an extraordinary culinary experience that deserves a standing ovation. Whether you’re a fan of classic favorites like chicken Parmesan or crave innovative creations like squash blossom, their menu has it all. The use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients adds an extra layer of quality. On top of the food, the drinks are so unique and absolutely unreal. The Parisian Fizz was my hands down favorite! The venue itself belongs in architecture digest. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options, both equally as amazing. The garden makes you feel like you’re in Italy while being in the middle of LA. The staff members are attentive, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. I also got the pleasure of meeting the owners who were there walking from table to table thanking the guests and even offering tours! Hospitality definitely runs in this family!
Back to Casalena for our anniversary! We had the best waitress ever and on our second visit are known by our names already with the manager. She gave us a credit on two of our items because it was our anniversary. Great chicken Parmesan Parmesan mashed potatoes delicious Caesar salad hot breadsticks with butter and Duckhorn Chardonnay from Napa Valley
Wow! An evening my family and I will never forget. Our server basically selected our menu for us! AND EVERYTHING WAS EXACTLY AS WE WOULD HAVE ORDERED. We would not change a thing. From the service, to the chef prepared meals, we give this place five stars and recommend to any locals our tourists looking for something unique and underrated.
We had a brunch in Catalina today on Sunday Very pleasant atmosphere Food is nice and fresh Very unusual dishes I was very happy with my kale salad and salmon pizza Service was wonderful the girls in the front and everybody who help us was very kind and pleasant Wanted to say thank you to our waiter Charlie, he was very sweet and helpful and just made our branch a lot more fun thank you Charlie and thank you Casalena!
First timer brought my wife here for a date night. Pretty crowded place, our seating felt kinda tight. Very hard to hear and have a conversation with your date. Other than that tho our server was friendly and the food was AMAZING. I got the ceviche and normally being Hispanic you feel like u need a tostada (tortilla chip) to go with it but by itself it was super good so far best ceviche I've had. I also got the spicy vodka pasta that was really good as well. My wife got the rib eye that was super tender cooked perfectly. Overall it was a great experience just kinda loud in there...
Stephanie our waitress was fantastic and the food was amazing! The pizza, drinks, the apps, the steak - we had a fairly big group and tried a lot of the menu - it was all amazing. Top of my list for restaurants in the area.
Not sure how this place is rated 4.2 My wife and I went on a rare date night and right away she was blown away by the beauty of the place, definitely west Hollywood style, surprised to find such a stylish place in the valley. The service was great, drinks were great, food was great, especially the Chilean sea bass with risotto. Highly recommended, just make sure to make reservations. Btw valet only $8...half what we usually pay in Hollywood.
We visited for a friends birthday and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was fantastic on the inside and outside on the patio (which had heaters turned on for the cold.) There were so many items that could be veganized so it was hard to choose what to order. In the end, I decided on beet hummus for a starter and pesto rigatoni for my main. There is valet for parking or residential street parking nearby. I highly recommend coming for a special occasion dinner.
We visited this restaurant on Sunday New Year’s Eve and were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service we received. We decided to return for our second visit and were delighted with our experience. We highly recommend arriving at 5 p.m. as the crowd and the lively atmosphere begin to build up at 6 p.m. Parking can be a bit challenging, but they offer a valet service that might be worth considering. Look for them at the corner of San Feliciano Dr and Ventura Blvd. To start, we couldn’t resist their amazing Wagyu Meatballs. They were incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. If you’re a fan of zucchini blossoms, you must try their Squash Blossoms as well. They were equally delicious. For the main course, we were blown away by their Chilean Seabass. It was incredibly rich in flavor and served on top of a delectable mushroom truffle risotto. Another great option is their Chicken Piccata, which was also very tender. We were also impressed with their Butterflied Whole Branzino, which was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender. To complete our meal, we couldn’t resist their Truffle Fries. They were incredibly addictive! For dessert, I highly recommend their Tiramisu or their Apple Tart with Vanilla Gelato. The chocolate cake was also delicious.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Elegant, delicious, and the perfect vibe Casaléna is an absolute gem in Woodland Hills. I had the vodka pasta and chicken piccata—both were flavorful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. I also tried their lychee martini, which was just as tasty. The service was attentive and friendly, and the ambience is just stunning, modern, upscale, and perfect for a night out or a get-together with friends. From the decor to the menu, everything feels thoughtfully curated. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a high-end dining experience in the Valley.
I love Casaléna for lunch if you’re around Woodland Hills, and it was great going with a group because we were able to share many dishes family-style. It’s very trendy both inside and on the outdoor patio, with a variety of very cool chandelier light fixtures inside and a mostly-covered patio (although bits of sun do shine through). Now that the weather is getting cooler, outdoor dining at Casalena is the way to go. Lucky, even as a group of 8, they were able to accommodate us without a reservation with a minimal wait time. We were also able to easily find street parking nearby. Seven Must Order Dishes if you’re sharing: 1. We loved the Hamachi Crudo ($23) so much that we ordered two! It came with ponzu, serrano, and topped with crispy leek, and was a good combination of refreshing and a spice-kick with the pepper. 2. From the Lunch Specials Menu, we loved the refreshing summer Cucumber Watermelon Salad ($18) even though it’s fall. It also has lemon, feta cheese, passionfruit vinaigrette, and basil oil, and the passion fruit wasn’t as strong as I was expecting. 3. The Whipped Eggplant ($16) under the To Share section of the menu is vegan and comes with pickled pepper, pan de cristal, & olive oil, and it was so creamy and delicious. 4. The meatballs, also under the To Share section of the menu, were a crowd favorite. The Wagyu Meatballs come with ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, a significant amount of pomodoro sauce, and topped with parsley. 5. For Mains, the Butterflied Half Branzino ($29) is gluten free and comes with chimichurri & grilled lemon. The Branzino was great, especially with the chimichurri sauce, being perfectly crispy on the outside and soft meaty on the inside. 6. Another Main, the Steak Frites ($29) actually went really well with the chimichurri sauce leftover from the branzino! A hanger steak, I recommend it cooked medium or medium rare, and it comes au poivre with a large quantity of French fries. If you’re not ordering the Branzino, make sure to ask for a side of chimichurri to go with your steak. 7. The Shashuka Verde is a good brunch option if you go in the morning. This was my first time having green Shashuka (green-over-red seems to be trending in LA?) and it was good to share alongside other items to avoid having too much acidity at once. The group collectively agreed that the Limoncello Slice ($14) was the best and the Apple Tart ($14) is the second best dessert. I especially loved the sauce and fresh berries on the limoncello. The Tiramisu ($14) was too cakey and the least enjoyed by the table. While there was a good presentation on the dessert themselves, no shared plates were brought to the table even though there were 8 of us with 3 desserts. Beverage: For brunch, next time I’d like to try a coffee. The orange juice had a funny taste to it and I wasn’t able to force myself to finish it - I’d just skip that. It said it was fresh squeezed, maybe one of the oranges was on the older side? Or maybe it was a different type of orange than I’m accustomed to? The very saucey Tuna Tartar ($23) was not my fav, and wouldn’t fall on my reorder list. It came with avocado, pickled ginger, cucumber, fresno, micro cilantro, ponzu, and togarashi crisp.
Love love love this place!! You can't go wrong coming here. Whether just hanging with a friend, going on a date, or a family meal, this is by far the best place to go! Inside is always stunningly beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the food is some of the best around! Some of my favorite things to order are the meatballs, some of the best I've had, the cauliflower, some of the best I've had, the Hamachi Crudo, some of the... You get the idea! The Chicken Parm is awesome, and so is the Sweet Corn Agnolotti! And you can't go wrong with a grilled Baby Gem Caesar Salad! Don't forget the Squash Blossoms! Do yourself a favor and go here immediately! You won't regret it!
Went here for a double date with friends. We had reservations at 615pm and the restaurant was filled. We were seated promptly next to the fireplace. Our waiter was Trent. Inside the restaurant there is a nice atmosphere with glowing lights and a bustling crowd. Tables are close together to fit as many patrons as possible and the noise level in the restaurant was somewhat loud. We ordered the Branzino, Vodka Pasta and the Wagyu Meatballs. Everything tasted delicious and fresh. It even arrived quickly after ordering. Service is good as they have multiple people cleaning your table. Parked on the street. While dropping off my wife at the restaurant one of the valet employees feverishly honked and high beamed me to get out of the way. It was very rude and unprofessional as he had zero patience. Sir if you are reading this take a chill pill. Besides this ugly moment we enjoyed our time at Casalena with our friends.
Just had an unforgettable dinner at Casaléna in Woodland Hills, and I’m still dreaming about it! 🌿✨ From the moment we arrived, the ambiance transported us to a chic Mediterranean escape. The food? Absolutely divine. The cocktails were equally impressive. Service was top-notch. If you're looking for a spot that combines exquisite cuisine with a stunning atmosphere, Casaléna is a must-visit. Can't wait to return for brunch and explore more of their menu! #Casaléna #WoodlandHillsDining #MediterraneanCuisine #LAeats #FoodieFavorites
We celebrated my Aunts 70th Birthday Surprise Party on their Sundeck which offers a view of the patio on a covered space. The catered food, Appetizers, drinks and main course were all flavorful and tasty! The service was very attentive and friendly! Plan to come back for the dinner menu and drinks. The whole place has great natural light on the first and second floor. Definitely an amazing space for events like wedding receptions, Birthdays, and other celebrations. Valet Parking is your best option when driving your personal vehicle. You can spend a grip here in a minute but worth it.
This place is 100% the absolute best. From the atmosphere, to the service, you simply cannot go wrong. Though every single staff member is fantastic, if you want your experience to go to the next level, make sure you ask to be seated in Nadá's section. Simply put, nothing compares. Her ability to make your experince the absolute best, if flawless!!!
We walked into Casalena and right away felt such good, positive energy — the kind that makes you relax and smile without even realizing it. The hostess was so warm and immediately guided us to the lounge area so we could bring our baby’s stroller with us, which we really appreciated. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind and patient, not just polite. The place has this calm, happy vibe — beautiful décor, great music, and food that tastes as good as it looks. It’s rare to find a restaurant where the energy of the staff and the atmosphere feel so naturally positive. We left full, relaxed, and just really happy we went.
I came here for a work dinner and the location was beautiful. From the bar to the dining area, the location was simply amazing. The food was really good, I felt that anything one ordered would taste great. I wasn't impressed by the drinks though. Their espresso martini was missing something and the margarita didn't taste like it had any alcohol.
So all I got to say is wow wow wowwww I love this place and the fact that it’s located here in Woodland Hills I’ve been to this place last night with two of my girlfriends we had an absolutely fabulous experience and a very fun evening Enjoyed a well cooked dinner and great drinks! We love the whole beautiful setting of the place and the warmth vibes The owners of this spot literally thought about everything and brought an amazing new fun location to our city and I just love it!!! The food was excellent! The service is fast and all the servers are very nice and respectful! We ordered few appetizers and 3 different main ones and fabulous cocktails And I got to say the prices were very reasonable. It’s fun to finally find a place after covid happened that delivers exceptional food and service! The design of this place is really beautiful I know I keep saying this but when you will get there you will see for your own eyes. The other sitting at their beautiful outdoor yard is breathtaking!!! We had a table inside but today already booked a reservation for a friend b day for the balcony for next visit. I do recommend booking a table in advance online . Also don’t look for parking they got a valley service at like $6-$8 So I just wanted to Tel whom ever is the owners of this place thank you for bringing such a place in our area and you will be see us a lot at your restaurant. I can’t wait for our next reservation booking that we booked for the backyard balcony experience 🙏
Amazing food and beautiful setting! We looove love the hamachi and the charred octopus. The wagyu ragu pasta was amazing as well. The tables were a little too close to each other and it was hard to have conversations. Noise level was quite loud but we love the space decoration a lot!
We really enjoyed our dinner here. The bread they bring you, as long as it's fresh and hot (we got one that was amazing and the 2nd one we ordered was stale and cold, should have sent it back but they were busy) is some of the best bread I've had at a restaurant! The meatballs appetizer is presented beautifully and the meatballs are moist, flavorful and definitely worth it! The branzino is amazing! The spaghetti allo scoglio was delicious with plenty of seafood! Their coffee is very good, where we were disappointed was dessert. The Sardinian donuts were heavy, raw inside and beyond disappointing. The batter is obviously too thick, I've had donuts in Sardinia, work on this recipe! Also, they should be served fresh fried and hot. The apple tart was also undercooked and doughy and was served cold. I took most of it home, baked it for another 15-18 minutes on 340 degrees and it was great. You can't underbake pastry, it's the worst. We will be back but not for dessert.
Immaculate vibe. Casalèna delivers for meat eaters and vegans alike. We dined with a large group and the service felt very personal. Every dish was presented beautifully. The kale and white bean salad was a perfect salad. Focaccia was incredible. The pesto pasta was a hit for us too as vegans. All of the other food looked and smelled amazing and everyone else in the party raved about it. 10/10 would come back for any occasion. Oh! The mocktails were incredible too!
Casaléna is a gorgeous space with incredible food and excellent service. Dined here for a birthday and it was great for our large party. It would be a great place for a date, a girls’ night out dinner, or anything really! I’m vegan and really appreciated that the menu was clearly labeled for vegan, vegan upon request, and also gluten free and gluten free available upon request. The vegan options were SO delicious. The kale and white bean salad is one of - if not the - best salad I have ever had. The other vegan items we had were: eggplant, pesto rigatoni, and broccolini. Everything else looked phenomenal and the service that Stephanie and the rest of the team provided was excellent.
Wow! For her birthday, our daughter selected this restaurant for a family meal. The hospitality, service, and ambiance of this venue and its staff exceeded our expectations. First, let’s discuss parking. Parking is a major concern before going to classy restaurants in Los Angeles County, a fact known to many long-term residents. Casalena is no exception. We suggest valet parking at $8; the valet staff was quick, fantastic and professional. Avoid street parking after 5PM Friday and Saturday; it’s unlikely you’ll find a space. This LA area is mostly residential. Arriving 15 minutes early for your reservation ensures indoor or outdoor seating options before 6PM. Two fully stocked bars, indoors and out, are available. If your table isn’t ready in 30 minutes, we suggest enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail at the outside bar. Our hostess, Lauren, seated us outside to begin our meal. Tim, our table server, and Tyler, our restaurant manager, greeted us at our outdoor patio table before dinner was served. By 6PM, the restaurant had a lively, elegant atmosphere. Our waiter, noting that we were a party of four, suggested we order numerous dishes to share family-style, mirroring Italian custom. Here’s what we ordered for appetizers (Spicy Bluefin Tuna Crispy Rice (avocado, chives, ponzu, truffle aioli), Grilled Caesar (grilled chicken, charred little gems, parmesan, lemon breadcrumbs). Our main courses were (Vodka Lumaconi (spicy vodka sauce, ricotta), pesto spice, Sweet Corn Agnolotti (roasted corn, brown butter, pepitas, cilantro), Chilean Seabass (miso glazed sea bass, chanterelle mushroom truffle risotto, chives), Chicken Piccata (white wine, capers, lemon, parsley, whipped potatoes), Lasagna De La Casa (tomato sauce, wild mushrooms, bechamel, shaved parmesan, crispy parsely). We paid a $30 corkage fee to enjoy our own bottle of 2021 Barton Moondance red wine. Then, during the main course, we decided to purchase another bottle of red wine (2019 La Poderina Brunello Di Montalcino, Italy) from their extensive wine bottle menu. Our dessert spread featured a slice of birthday cake for our daughter, Tiramisu (rum espresso, marscarpone, savoiardi cookies), Limoncello Slice (lemon soaked sponge cake, mascarpone mousse, meyer lemon curd, oat strussel), cappuccino, and espresso martini made with tequila rather than vodka. The food, drinks, and venue were so amazing that night, we were completely satisfied. Thank you for a wonderful birthday experience team!
I had a wonderful experience at Casalena this Valentine's Day with a few couples. The atmosphere was romantic and intimate, perfect for the occasion. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The food was exceptional — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. From appetizers to desserts, each bite was a delight. It was the perfect setting for a memorable evening with great friends. Highly recommend for a special night out!
Amazing food, truly beautiful restaurant and ambience with excellent customer service. Literally everything tasted great and our server, Jayden was second to none. One of the best, ultra trendy restaurants in SFV/LA. Had a great date night and would highly recommend.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday here with a large group and had an amazing experience. The staff was very accommodating and attentive, the food was delicious, and everything ran smoothly despite the big party. Great atmosphere for celebrations—highly recommend!
I recently visited this restaurant in Woodland Hills, and I was really impressed! The place has an awesome vibe, stylish, comfortable, and full of good energy. The ambiance is one of the best in the area, with beautiful decor, great lighting, and a nice mix of music that sets the right mood. The food is decent and nicely presented, with plenty of menu options to choose from. It’s not the kind of place you go just for the food,it’s more about the overall experience. The atmosphere, service, and setting make it a great spot for a night out with friends, a casual date, or even a solo dinner. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything went smoothly. Prices are fair for what you get, and the experience feels worth it. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Woodland Hills if you’re looking for a nice vibe and a good time.
I attended a work event here, and it was great. The atmosphere was nice, and the appetizers and drinks were good. The servers were friendly, and we always had enough food and drinks. Since it was just appetizers and drinks, I can’t comment on the full menu or service, but this venue was perfect for a gathering like ours. Overall, it was a wonderful evening.
My friends and I came here last night to celebrate one of their birthdays. I made reservations ahead of time on OpenTable. I been to this location before when it was the Villa but now it's a whole new restrauant and I heard good things about it. You can do their valet parking or looking for street parking on Ventura or around the area. We parked on Costanso street for our dinner reservation so just be aware that the street is very dark and the sidewalks has a lot of bumps. It's not that safe for ladies walking alone or just in general. When we arrived to the restrauant, we got seated immediately in their garden area. There heaters on the top and also some tarp to provide shade or cover. It is kind of tight inside so be aware that the other table is right next to you. We started off with the spicy soppressata pizza and it was delicious. For our entree, we did the dinner special which was the 10oz filet mignon and be aware that you can't change the side. So we had to get a side of truffle fries and regular fries. The birthday boy got the 16oz prime rib eye and got whipped potatoes for his side. Our food didn't take that much time to come out. The presentation was spot on and our food looked delicious. My friend really liked his prime rib eye. I got my filet mignon medium rare and asked for the sauce to be on the side which cause my steak to be a little dry in certain area. It was still good though and I thought the mashed potatoes that came with it was okay. I like my regular fries better and my friends enjoyed the truffle fries along with their steak. They do not give complimentary birthday dessert here or they didn't give us one. If you get their seafood options, you get less portions so just look at the pictures beforehand. Overall this is a nice place especially if you sit in the garden area because it's set up to look romantic. The service we received was great and all of the staff were wonderful. The bathroom here for men is also just a single room that is shared for men, family, all gender and handicap.
Love this place! I’ve been a couple times and it’s a great spot for a delicious dinner. Big fan of their heirloom tomato salad, tuna on crispy rice, and pesto rigatoni. I suggest getting a couple entrees to share. The atmosphere is lovely, just note that is noisy indoors. Service has always been excellent. I suggest using the valet parking to avoid having to circle the otherwise super limited street parking. Valet on a Thursday night for dinner was $10.
My recent experience at Casalena. While my past two visits have been wonderful, I encountered some significant issues during my reservation for today. We arrived five minutes early and checked in with the host. We mentioned that we had requested a table on the second floor in the comment section of the online reservation, after waiting 20 minutes and seeing several other parties seated immediately, I checked in with a hostess. She was quite dismissive, didn't make eye contact, and informed me that we were next and that no tables were available upstairs unless we wanted to wait much longer. We continued to observe guests who had just arrived being seated right away. After waiting almost 30 minutes, I spoke with the manager, Charles. He was very professional and discovered that the hosting staff had provided conflicting information regarding our table status. Once he intervened, a table on the second floor was miraculously available, and we were seated. Despite the initial frustration, I want to highlight that the rest of our evening was lovely. The food and drinks were amazing, and our server, Viviana, was absolutely outstanding. Both she and Charles turned what could have been a poor experience into a pleasant one. I hope this feedback is helpful in providing guidance to the hosting team on communication, hospitality, and transparency with guests. We love the venue and look forward to returning.
Casalena in Woodland Hills offers a truly outstanding dining experience, combining a vibrant atmosphere with a menu full of show-stopping Mediterranean dishes. The energy here is infectious! The dining room is beautiful, with great options spanning the indoor space, the lovely outdoor patio, and the unique second-floor seating. Be aware that the noise level is loud—this is a bustling, high-energy spot that makes for an exciting night out. The food was uniformly excellent. We were especially blown away by the appetizers: the Grilled Caesar Salad is a revelation, adding a smoky, charred depth to the classic, and the Squash Blossoms are perfectly prepared and absolutely divine. For mains, the Steak was cooked to perfection, and the Hamachi Crudo was delicate and zesty. They also have a fantastic drink selection, like the refreshing cocktail and the classic Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer. We ended the meal with a flawless slice of Tiramisu. Practical Tip: Given its popularity, reservations are essential. We appreciated the ease of the valet parking. Casalena is a top-tier choice for a memorable, dynamic, and delicious meal in the Valley!
We were in the area. And decided to stop there for a meal. It was a transition time from lunch to dinner. So, the menu was smaller but still, there were some great options to choose from. Food was tasty and perfectly cooked, and service was fast and attentive. Definitely worth the discovery.
Beautiful venue with multiple room sizes to accommodate different size groups. With options for indoor and outdoor seating areas. I was recently here for a bridal shower and actually create laser engraved guest tags, printed menus, game signs and welcome sign. We had the second floor room with an outdoor view. Felt like we’re seating in a garden. It had a long rustic table to sit everyone together. Plenty of room on the side table for cake and gifts. The food was delicious, had a great time.
I had a great time having dinner at Casalena. We ended up upstairs and it is a little bit noisier than what I anticipated. I was having dinner with a colleague of mine. This spot is perfect for a date, but it was noisy from 7 to 9. If you want to have a nice quite romantic time with someone special, make sure you get there either early or later in the evening. Valet Service was $9.00 So to give you some perspective, I had 1 glass of scotch, my colleague had 1 glass of wine, appetizer, dinner and tiramisu for 2, the bill came out to 180+ 20% percent tip. The food was super tasty. The service was on point. This place is really nice, elegant, classy but not stuffy with old "country club" folks. The atmosphere was mixed, young couples, old dudes celebrating whatever and everyone is welcome. If you have the money, definitely worth the trip to Woodland Hills. I will go back again.
Made reservations on a Friday night for a friend's birthday dinner, their patio and atmosphere is lovely. I ordered myself an aperitivo and it was amazing. They have quite an extensive wine menu, we were indecisive and in the mood to try something new and they offered the assistance of a sommelier which recommended an amazing Italian Zinfandel 10/10. The food was amazing we wrapped our meal with dessert and coffee. Service was great although it was a bit busy which is expected for a Friday night, server was polite and attentive.
Casaléna Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, and great service! We had dinner at Casaléna and everything from start to finish was excellent. The pizza was perfectly baked with a light, crispy crust and amazing flavor. The cocktails were refreshing and beautifully presented? ideal for a beautiful evening out. And the desserts were a highlight , rich chocolate cake, warm pastry, and an icecream/gelato that tasted homemade. The ambiance is elegant yet relaxed, with soft lighting and a lively but comfortable vibe. Definitely a must-visit spot in Woodland Hills for a nice dinner or special night out.
I found this Magical and uniquely vibrant Casalena Restaurant in Woodland Hills. They have a welcoming vibes ✨️. The place is decorated with inviting and gorgeous designs. Services was phenomenal. The highlight of discovering this place is their delicious food and uniquely presentation. Definitely highly recommend this Beautiful place for any events. Me and my niece had a blast 💓
Beautiful setting, this restaurant screams of romantic date night options. The outdoor patio is where you should request as it gets loud inside even with regular diner volumes. The duck confit was delightfully crispy and the finish of pot de creame was exactly what my taste buds desired. Overall attentive yet unimposing service made for a fabulous evening out.
Food was good, ambiance was top tier! Loved the selenite accents, really sets the vibe. Food was nice, I’d pass on the eggplant next time. I was expecting elephante whipped eggplant but it was not that at all lol. Not their fault it just wasn’t what I was expecting. My fav out of everything was the brown butter corn pasta! So good.
Loved Casaléna! Went on a Tuesday and it was busy! Great selection of cocktails and wine/spirits. Friendly attentive staff, great ambiance, decor and amazing food! We ate everything but the plates! A must! Lots of sports people if you're into sports. My husband knew who they were since he loves the lakers and rams but I was oblivious.I care about the food!
This place puts Joey woodland hills to shame as far as the architecture. The staff was relatively friendly, but not too much enthusiasm. The food was really good! The chicken parm was dry, but it had a great taste as well as the salmon. The desert was very unique and tasty. We hope that the hostess can cheer up and the chefs can perfect the parm, but other than that I would recommend this place and we look forward to coming back :)
Went here for a birthday dinner and really enjoyed. Overall I would call this a solid restaurant, but I am not giving it 5 starts since I don't think they provided or showed anything that really put them in that top tier of food. The building is beautiful and vibe is perfect for a date spot or family dinner out. Pictured is the truffle pizza and the tomahawk ($150 MP - very fair IMO)
Casalena. We were there for the late night menu (10:45 pm.) everything was great. the server was on the spot, and the food was very good. I'm definitely coming back... Parking -2.5/5* Accessibility -4/5* Atmosphere - 5/5* Clean - 4/5* Restrooms - 4/5* Service - 4.5/5* Food visually -4/5* Food taste -4.5/5* Food freshness -5/5* Price - 4/5* 4 stars
This place is pretty esthetically. Our server was Jordan and he truly was great and attentive. His recommendations were spot on. The food is very good! My Sicilian cocktail was refreshing. My 2 complaints are: 1st the box restaurant is overly noisy. Hard to have a convo without hearing your neighbors. This is nowhere near a place for quiet or romantic. 2nd some of the food items can be overly salty or just too flavorful. May sound strange but it's a thing. I will try to visit the upstairs area or lunch & see if the food is just as good without the extreme noise.
I recently dined at Casalena restaurant and bar, where I indulged in a delightful experience. The Burrata appetizer was a savory delight, complemented by the outstanding bread. Although the cost of two drinks and a starter leaned towards the higher side, the overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable, making it a worthwhile visit.
Excellent first time experience; the selection was delicious and the service to match from the valet to the restaurant. One thing that was bothersome was the restroom situation. I get that single stalls are supposed to be unisex in the state of CA, but having a urinal installed so that the female and male counterparts don’t have to deal with the neanderthal that urinated on the toilet seat right before you enter would be useful. I’m glad that the woman are prioritized of the multi-stall situation as I would have it no other way but please consider this addition or help the men out with some simple signage 😂
Update: Round 2: My wife and I decided to return for our anniversary (the gift card a client gave definitely motivated us to come back. Full transparency on that.) The food was great! Definitely better than last time and we thought last time was good. Squash blossoms, hamachi crudo, halibut chefs special were all amazing. I thought the wagyu pasta shape wasn’t right to fully enjoy the sauce, but the pasta was homemade and chewy and delicious. The Apple tartan was fine, but if you leave a half eaten dessert behind, it wasn’t THAT good. “There’s always room for dessert…” They do the unforgivable sin of way to large plates they struggle to place on way to small tables. If two plates and some bread barely fit on the table, where is my glass of wine supposed to go. Also the little table lamps are annoying, bulky, finicky. Also, all the starters came out as 5 pieces, but there’s two of us. 4 or 6 y’all, don’t turn every plate into a battleground. I know it’s not fair to judge a restaurant by their clientele, but… there is a lot of older people with their young dates here. If you’re that, you’ll blend right in. We are not. We were seated between a 50+ yr old woman and her 21 yr old date and a 60 yr old man and his 30 yr old date. Original: Round 1. To be honest, it’s more of a 9/10 but I rounded it up to 5/5. Food was delicious, service was great. My fiancé and I went for our anniversary, tried a good variety of food, all great My only real complaint is that I asked when my second margarita came it was definitely not made the same as the first. The prices make it more of a special occasion restaurant for us but we’d recommend it.
Casalena, which opened in June 2023, has quickly become a valuable addition to the community. The restaurant offers a menu rich with coastal Mediterranean flavors, providing a diverse array of options to choose from. They also feature rotating specials, which I was eager to try during my visit. I opted for the Chicken Piccata, served on top of mashed potatoes. We also got the Bianca Pizza to have as our appetizer. It’s thin crust and a bit dry in my opinion, I personally would have wanted more sauce but still very good. The indoor ambiance of Casalena is my favorite thing about this place. The decor and overall vibe are delightful, with beautiful lighting that enhances the dining experience. I especially appreciated the small touch lamp on the table, allowing guests to adjust their own lighting. While the menu is on the pricier side, making it less suitable for frequent visits, Casalena is an excellent choice for a date night, anniversary, or special occasion. Reservations are not required but are highly recommended, and can be easily made via Yelp or the restaurant's website. They also do events which you can inquire and get more information about. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Street metered parking or you can use their valet.
Food was as good as you would expect at this price. I had a salmon entrée that was very well done. Appetizers were tasty and well plated. Atmosphere was decent... definitely tailor-made for instagram influencers. Not a bad night out, but it wouldn't be hard to find a better place.
We decided to go here last minute on a Saturday afternoon around 3 o’clock. We didn’t expect it to be as packed as it was… And it may have been because it was Mother’s Day weekend. However, place was slammed! We were hoping for the lunch menu, which was great online, but because of the time we got a limited menu, which I posted pictures of here. I also posted pictures of the dinner menu, which is very extensive. It’s a beautiful room but super super noisy when it’s this crowded. The two young hostesses were very disinterested and offputting with total attitude when I asked if we could get a table. They said basically try your luck at the bar. Since we don’t mind eating at the bar, we were glad that two seats opened up. I did not like their attitude, however. Like, seriously ?! Once we sat at the bar, a bartender who also had an attitude gave us one menu and said they didn’t have any more menus. I found that odd and then the people next to us got menus without a problem so I don’t know where they came up with more menus, but whatever. We ordered and the bartender/waiter told me that the kale salad wasn’t that great so I ordered the chicken sandwich. Then after discussing it with my husband, we decided to also get the salad. We told the bartender and thought he added it to our order. We got our appetizers which were amazing and waited and waited and waited for the chicken sandwich.… And it never came🤷♀️ in the meantime the salad was amazing and I ate the entire thing! We finally flagged down another bartender, and she looked for us and said that the former Bartender did not put in the chicken sandwich. In the meantime, he had totally disappeared.🙄 So… Overall, the food was amazing! We had the eggplant soufflé which was to die for, the Hamachi, which was excellent, the kale salad, which is my new favorite salad of all time, and the crispy chicken sandwich which when it finally came was divine. Overall, this is a great place and I’m happy to see it doing well… But the service leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe it was because they were so busy but I never appreciate attitude, or poor service ever.
I love Casaléna. Their food is pretty good but I honestly go for the vibes and the drink menu. Their drinks are honestly really good and it overall makes for a great night. If you’re trying to have a good night with good food, good drinks, and a fun but not overwhelming atmosphere, go here. The crowd is pretty fancy but I like that cause it sways away the type of crowd you wouldn’t want next to you. I only had one bad experience here and it was because I was sat next to an obnoxiously loud group of people and my table was generally too close to other tables. Request a nice table and don’t be shy to ask them to move you, if the weathers nice go outside but don’t agree to be sat upstairs, it’s not as nice in my opinion.
We had a lovely experience at Casaléna! From the moment we arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation the hostess was incredibly accommodating and seated us right away, which was a great start to the evening. Our server was friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and insights into the flavors of each dish. The Mediterranean margarita I ordered was fantastic refreshing and perfectly balanced. The food itself was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The only hiccup was that the restaurant was quite busy, so we had to ask for water a few times and experienced a bit of a wait between courses. That said, the overall vibe and quality of the food and drinks more than made up for it. Definitely looking forward to coming back again soon!
My wife and I had Saturday night plans to attend a concert in Northridge. We decided to have dinner in the area before the concert. After searching the web for a good restaurant, I landed on Casaléna. It was a pleasant discovery! The place is beautiful and gives you clean, classy and elevated casual vibes, though a lot of folks, including us, were dressed up. It's listed as Mediterranean, but I get American and Italian farm to table all rolled up in one. Being first timers, we asked our server (Charlie) to give us the run down on the menu and recommendations. With his help, we made our choices. For cocktails we went with the Maple Old Fashioned and a Golden Sour. For starters, we shared the Charred Octopus and the Grilled Cesar Salad. For the entrée, my wife had the Butterflied Whole Branzino, paired with a glass of Terras Gauda, Albariño. I ordered the Short Rib paired with a glass of The Walking Fool Red Blend by Caymus. and we ordered a side of Broccolini, Literally, EVERYTHING was excellent! One of the favorites was the Charred Octopus. It was cooked to perfection. The service was great, the food came out quick and hot. I recommend you give this place a try.
I booked a table at Casalena for a birthday lunch, and the experience was memorable from start to finish. The ambiance instantly captivated us, with stunning decor, intricate artwork, and a vibrant yet elegant atmosphere. The view of the valley outside added a picturesque touch, elevating the overall dining experience. Upon arrival, there was valet (we paid a $7 valet parking fee) and were promptly seated at our reserved table. However, the table felt a bit cramped for our party of four. When we requested a change, the staff quickly accommodated us with a more spacious and comfortable table, which we appreciated. Our waiter, however, seemed slightly aloof, lacking the warmth and enthusiasm we’ve experienced at places like The Cheesecake Factory, where staff often engage more actively with guests and explain the menu. This was a minor hiccup but didn’t detract significantly from the experience. The food was the true highlight. Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection—full marks to the culinary team! The menu offered a delightful variety, and each bite showcased the restaurant’s commitment to quality. Overall, Casalena is a gem worth visiting. The breathtaking decor, scenic valley views, and exceptional food make it a standout destination. I’d happily return for another unforgettable meal.
Two things you must try at Casalena, their Pizza and their Tiramisu. This place is a fine dining restaurant located on venture and not too far from Topanga canyon blvd. Out of all the food we tried, the pizza for me was the most flavorful. I especially loved the taste and texture of their cheese. Highly recommended. I also enjoyed the vodka pasta. The ambiance here is nice and serene. They accommodate big and small parties so if you wanna have a fancy pizza party for 30, this might just be your spot. Keep in mind though, parking is either far up the street or Valet for 7 bucks. I’m not sure if the price is consistent on weekends. Anyhoo… I made sure to take a lot of pictures and videos for yall to see so if you do go, tell them Toni said hello. I’d definitely be back for the pizza and maybe this time I’ll get a cocktail too.
My wife and I somehow managed to escape the clutches of parenthood for a night, so we decided to seize the moment and have a date night at Casaléna. We’d been eyeing the place for a while, driving by it like, 'One day, we’ll be cool enough to go there.' Well, that day finally came. When we arrived, we quickly discovered that Casaléna believes in old-school charm—by that, I mean there’s no parking lot. Just the thrill of street parking on Ventura Boulevard or surrendering your car to the valet gods. Once inside, the restaurant was stunning, with olive trees and trendy lamp décor that screamed, 'We’re fancy, but also laid-back.' There was a bar with sports games on, for those who like to pair their artisanal cocktails with a side of touchdowns. The service was top-notch, and our waiter was so friendly I half expected him to pull up a chair and join us. I ordered the coconut pistachio-crusted salmon because, well, how could you not? We also got a Bianca pizza with feta and pistachios to share, because sharing is caring, and we’re trying to set a good example for the kids. The food was delicious, though the pizza was a bit dry, like it had gone to the beach and forgotten sunscreen. The ambiance was a mix of hipster vibes and that 'let’s all gather here to celebrate someone’s third cousin’s half-birthday' energy. But of course, it wasn’t all perfect. The air conditioning seemed to be set to 'sauna,' which was awesome if you’re into sweating while you eat. And let’s not forget the parking—I ended up parking down the street because valet parking feels like admitting defeat. All in all, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return to Casaléna unless I got roped into a friend’s or relative’s birthday celebration. There are definitely better options in Woodland Hills, especially ones where you can park without performing a parallel parking miracle.
This restaurant has a lovely date night ambiance, with charming decor and plenty of greenery. However, I was hoping for a more intimate, romantic dinner with my husband. The noise level was so high that it was difficult to hold a conversation, especially when sitting across from each other. It felt like we were dining at a bar rather than a cozy spot for two. On top of that, we were bitten by mosquitoes during dinner, and there wasn’t an option to sit inside, which made the experience less enjoyable. My biggest disappointment was the $34 salmon. While it had a nice crust, it was under-seasoned, and the presentation was more about style than substance—there was a lot more plate than food. On a positive note, the wagyu meatballs and wagyu pasta were both delicious! If you decide to visit, I’d recommend going for lunch when it’s quieter, with more seating options to suit your date needs, and some courses are better priced. The $8 valet service was a nice touch, though!
This is a great for date night, intimate conversation, or family gatherings. The decor is beautiful, elegant and well thought through. Their different rooms offer individual atmospheres, that may feel as if you're dining at different restaurants. Our experience was hindered by the restaurant's hostess forgetting about us shortly after our arrival. We did have a reservation and arrived on time, but we're told to visit the bar while they prepared our seating. After standing around for 15, 20 minutes, we finally decided to visit the bar. After a round or two of drinks, we realized the kitchen would be closing or had already closed, and maybe should have called attention to our wait time. The hostess was horrified to see that we were still waiting to be seated. She apologized and was able to persuade the kitchen to stay a bit longer. Not only did we benefit from that, but so did many other tables. The hanger steak was amazing. The presentation left more to be desired as I mistakingly initially thought it was overcooked. But after trying it though, I realized the mistake was sharing the steak and not eating it alone. We also ordered a margarita pizza to nibble on before our main course. I hope in time they can perfect their recipe, because it was perhaps one of my least favorite artisan style pizzas I've had in the valley. While edible and flavorful, the dough was chewy and the cheese would just slip off the whole slice. It was only possible to eat with a fork and knife. Comically, it seemed other tables were having similar struggles with their pizzas. It also had an overabundance of parmesan. That parmesan would have been better suited in the pesto dish, which completely lacked flavor. This was weird because it looked amazing. The profile did not match the taste. The drinks here made up for everything. From their twist on margaritas to their smoked fig Old Fashion were worth the visit alone. This place lacks the polish of an established restaurant and a well run kitchen. I'm sure they'll get it together since it's only been open a week during our visit. Plus, this restaurant family has a rich history in the industry. I hope to revisit in the near future and give an update on this review.
My family went there for lunch for my wife’s birthday. We were looking forward to enjoy the ambiance and delicious food. We ordered drinks and the waiter took forever to get my son’s drink. I had the steak frites but the presentation was lacking. Overall the food taste was decent but the amount was so little for the price. My daughter ordered chicken Parmesan and it was very small and basic without any pasta. This place is a bit overhyped for the price.
Food was delicious! However the portion for the value of the agnolotti dish I ordered makes it a three star. Other aspects make it a 2. I came with an appetite, and to have ordered a pasta dish, I should not have still felt hungry after. I could count the number of pasta shells given on the plate which wasn’t completely filled. The service and ambiance was also less than stellar for the price. Upon arrival there was something in my seat that had to be wiped down. Then there was an eyelash hair in my dessert. Yuck! The place is so dark I’d almost missed it had it not been from the light of my phone. Two people in my party ordered the same thing, but one requested theirs as an appetizer. The waitress brought both out as appetizers and gave an unnecessarily hard time about taking the other one back to bring out with the food so it doesn’t get cold. Kept claiming the food would be out shortly as her reason to not correct her mistake and lo and behold, the rest of the food didn’t come out until another 10 minutes. As a guest there shouldn’t have been any back and forth about a simple request, especially where there was a mistake to begin with. I’d also put down on the reservation the occasion was to celebrate a birthday yet it wasn’t acknowledged by our waitress. Meanwhile she asked the table next to us if they were celebrating anything. Total dining time was barely 1 hour for $200+spent. Rushed and overall poor experience trumps the tasty pasta. Won’t be back.
Came here for my birthday dinner. Had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes for a table. Servers and hostess were not very friendly nor helpful. The scenery is quite gorgeous and the overall atmosphere is nice, very trendy but nice. Also note that there is no parking, only valet. Be prepared to pay or search for street parking. We had Hamachi crudo - 2/10 tasted fishy nothing special Short rib - 3/10 really lacked any flavor, sauce was practically bone broth Vodka pasta - 6/10 this was good but nothing to write home about They didn’t offer any birthday treats but we ordered the apple puff pastry and it was very delicious. 8/10 Overall for the price, quality of food, and customer service I don’t think I’ll be returning as there are much better dining experiences in the area. Although the bar seemed really nice and it may be a better experience for happy hour cocktails or something along those lines.
Came here for my 10 yr anniversary with my partner as a treat. Everyone has been raving about this restaurant for years and they had listed that they had vegan options so we decided to give a try. Wow what a disappointment this place was. The restaurant was beautiful and ambience was nice but it was SO LOUD. My partner and I sat in silence most of our meal because we couldn’t hear each other across our small table. Our server was pleasant but I expected better service for how nice this restaurant supposedly is. Now the food… Yikes. First off, they have posted on Yelp they have multiple vegan options. And their literal menu even had several items listed as vegan. Come to find out they’re mislabeled as a lot of the “vegan” meals were either NOT vegan and/or you had to remove almost the bulk of the dish to make it vegan. I wouldn’t have picked this place had I known this… 😐 So what was I left with? An overpriced salad that I could’ve made at home and one of the worst pesto pastas I’ve ever had. My partner’s meal (non vegan) was so salty and pasta was so undercooked, she couldn’t even finish it. And to top it off, after talking to the waiter about how I’m vegan and going through my options the entire meal, they bring us a complimentary dessert that I couldn’t even eat lol. A nice attempt at a gesture but I would’ve preferred if they at least asked if we still wanted it since I couldn’t eat it…. And quite honestly we just wanted to get out of there and that just prolonged the meal. The entire meal was so lackluster we couldn’t believe they charge the prices they do. Real foodies stay clear—you’ll be disappointed and leave hungry. This was a not a great experience, especially for such a special occasion it was really disappointing. Will not be coming back or recommending to anyone.
A formerly great restaurant is now a shadow of what we experienced over the last year. Last night, appetizers arrived on schedule, the tuna tartar was excellent, the roasted cauliflower was so undercooked that I had to stand to carve it like a Thanksgiving turkey while the waiter stood and watched, offering no help. And I'm no kid. If I were a server watching a Social Security recipient do this, I'd jump to help. Our friend ordered the pesto pasta with a protein. They brought him the sliced chicken, and no pasta. We waited while the sad, sliced chicken cooled on a plate. When he asked why they couldn't place the protein in the pasta, he said, "We only do that at lunch." Excuse me? At least they minused that meal off the bill. My duck confit was dry, as if it was hanging outside on a laundry line during a Santa Ana wind. Desserts were serviceable, but it was too late. The whole experience was more like being served subpoenas than dinner.
The meat was not terrible, and the same goes for the fries. However, the chicken parmigiana was disgusting and smelled very unappetizing. The broccoli was very chewy and hard. This place is just a mediocre restaurant; you'll get the same type of food anywhere. As for the service, it was good, but I couldn't pick my table even though the place was empty. But maybe that's the rule.
Food is amazing. The service we experienced the first time we dined was spectacular. Unfortunately after last night we’ll be ordering to go. The male server with the orange hair disappeared throughout service, the few times he came over he was rude and rushing us despite the venue having many other patrons. He took my butter before I finished my focaccia /: (he seen I was still eating and didn’t care). Honestly wish I would’ve asked to speak to someone last night.
I’m going to be honest here because I was super disappointed after having dinner here last night. When I came to casalena when it first opened two years ago or so it was good. However, something has changed. The short rib was the worst I’ve ever had. It was dry and tasted like they didn’t even put salt let alone any other seasoning. The seafood pasta tasted like biting into a garlic clove and was not edible. We tried to push through eating the short rib, but the whole experience was not worth the price. The ambiance is beautiful. But the food was absolutely not worth it.
We visited Casalena and decided to order a few dishes to share around the table. One of our guests eats gluten-free, and we appreciated that the restaurant was able to accommodate this by preparing a gluten-free version of the pesto pasta which was delicious. The Margherita pizza came out first. It was okay, nothing special at all. I've had much better versions elsewhere. The fig & beet salad was a big letdown - the portion was quite small which didn’t justify the price or my expectations of a salad! Literally 1 beet and maybe half a fig is perhaps all that was on the plate. And the taste was mid. The tuna rice cake was over-fried, making the rice hard and difficult to bite into. Overall, the food and experience felt pretty underwhelming. As for the ambiance, we were seated in the hall to the left of the entrance, which was extremely noisy. It was difficult to hear the person sitting across from me, which made conversation a bit frustrating. Service-wise, our server was kind and attentive, but the front staff we interacted with on our way out were not particularly polite or welcoming which added to our disappointment.
I would like to share my experience with this redtaurant We came in the new year eve By the end of the evening they gave us our bill+ $400 entry fee. Of course this unacceptable, we asked for a manager, the manager at the beginning tried to convince us this is new year and every restaurant charges this amount, obviously this was a lie and a try to make us pay this ridiculous amount, he clearly said “Every bight club charges this” We came to a restaurant and not to a night club. This is not a night club and apparently this is not our first new year eve we go to restaurant, no one has ever charged us for this ridiculous amount. After all this amount was taken off our bill and we paid what we were supposed to, the reason I am writing this review is people fell for this attempt which is complete greed and no one deserve this attitude. One star. The waitress is not responsible for this she was amazing and got her tip which she deserved, the footd was amazing and cocktail was amazing.
I had a reservation at 7:30 and didn’t receive a text to get seated until 8:14. I had already left at this point. Then when I went to get my car from valet they STILL charged me. I’ve dined here multiple times before but the service was so absolutely awful this time I will not be returning. What is the point of a reservation if it won’t be honored? Respect your patrons and stop overbooking your dining room. No one should have to pay $10 to stand around and wait 40 minutes for a table they already reserved. The hostess wasn’t even able to give us a wait time.
On New Year's Eve, we made a reservation for eight people for the second seating dinner, which cost $1,300. Unfortunately, there was no dancing and no party favors, contrary to what was stated on their website. We had specifically gone for the dancing, so everyone was very disappointed. The food and service were okay, but at around 11 PM, the manager informed us that our time was up and we needed to leave. We reminded him that we had paid for the second seating, which entitled us to stay until midnight, and he agreed. At that time, there was a line at the front desk with many upset people waiting for tables. It was not a pleasant situation. That will be the last time I go to Casalena.
I came here once before and it was nice and service was good. This time we were "greeted" by two hostesses who looked up from their conversation briefly then returned to their giggling and then finely acknowledged our existence with smug looks on their faces, asking for our name, we were then brought to a table and then left for about 10-15 minutes while I watched 6 waiters stand by the kitchen laughing and what seamed like dozen bus boys scurring around the one section of the restaurant. I finally noticed a waiter point at us to a buss boy mouthing "water" , which he brought to us but not offering still, sparkling or tap. Just water. We were finally greeted by the waitress, who was the best part of the evening, and asked for our drink order and appetizer order. At this point all was well except for the seriously unusual amount of children at half of the tables. I realize this is not the restaurants fault but what is their fault, is spreading them all over the place, put them all in one area so they are not bugging other patrons. We got our drinks and ordered our main courses and minutes later our first appetizer showed up followed by the second. Both apps were very good. We ordered the charred octopus and the wagu meatballs unfortunately half way through the second appetizer our mains came with all our dirty plates and half the octopus still there on the table and we had only just ordered them and considering one of the mains was a 12 oz prime rib eye that should have taken much longer not to mention it shouldn't have been fired to begin with but bringing food to a table without clearing it first is unacceptable also considering we were splitting the steak, they didn't bring a second plate but left me my dirty one with octopus and meatball sauce on it with my dirty cutlery on it, my wife had to grab her cutlery off her dirty plate to put it on the steak plate. We also were not brought any steak knives or offered any. The steaks are pre cut which is also just a terrible presentation but the best part was that the 12 oz prime rib wasn't a prime ribeye , I've been a chef for 35 years and this wasn't a ribeye this was a new York strip, major difference in quality, flavor, and texture not to mention the shape this was rectangular with fat along the length of the steak. It goes for 75 dollars we were charged 77 dollars so I don't know what happened here but im a very tolerant person knowing how hard it is to run a restaurant but there wasnt any form of management happening here, if there is a manager I didn't see one and the training is just not there or attention to detail there were dead saggy flowers on our table, thats restaurant management 101, you always do a walk through and check tables and wine glasses for spots, you train front end to at least get water on the table within 5 minutes of being seated. If its busy have somebody take a drink order but everyone was having a chat by the kitchen and again no management . Its sad because its a nice place and like I said the first experience was much better and much more professional. Get a new manager or perhaps "a", manager, dump the hosteses with tudes in the front and train the bussers to be on point with every table. I apologize because I rarely write bad reviews because if it just wasn't that great im just not going to write anything but eating at a restaurant is a treat and you go out to have and enjoyable day away from troubles and to get pampered and this did not happen here I couldn't get out fast enough.
MONEY STOLEN! I made a reservation at this restaurant to celebrate my fiancé’s bday in early Feb 2026, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. During our dinner, his gift card — which had a significant amount of cash — was stolen. We immediately reported it to the manager, who told us he did not have access to the cameras and would need to check with the owners. It has now been over a month, and we have received no follow-up, no resolution, and frankly, no indication that they truly cared to investigate the situation. The lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable. We were sat down upstairs, on the first counter to the right, far away from any other clients😏 What makes this even worse is that I had specifically reserved a table in the garden area because my in-laws were joining us — one uses a cane and the other has serious knee problems. Despite clearly requesting a no-stairs seating area in advance, we were seated upstairs. There was no real effort made to accommodate the accessibility concerns we had communicated. Between the lack of security response, the absence of follow-up from management, and the disregard for accessibility needs, I left feeling unsafe and unheard as a customer. I will not return to a place where I don’t feel protected as a client and where management appears indifferent to the well-being of their guests, staff, and overall business standards. Extremely disappointing experience.
After only an hour and a half at my friend’s birthday party, the manager had the gall to ask us to move tables to make room for a larger group. It wasn’t so much the request, but the way it was made—without grace and with only a lame apology. I waited tables years ago, and out of roughly 300 shifts, I can remember only one time when we had to ask a party to move. My manager handled it with a huge apology, plenty of grace, and even bought the table coffees or a drink. This manager handled it very poorly. A kind of hubris that ekes out of this restaurant. The place is also just noisy. We had to lean into each other to hear one another and we had to speak in a register was uncomfortably loud. The Huevo (singular) Rancheros or Ranchers Egg was like a child’s portion. Really? For what must cost the restaurant less than a dollar, a few more tablespoons of black beans and another egg wouldn’t be out of the question. Then they'd actually correct on the menu to call it Huevos (plural) Rancheros. After two shared appetizers and an entrée, I was still very hungry. I wouldn’t go back. I get the chic chicness of it all—it was my friend’s birthday choice—but I’d never return.
I had high hopes for this restaurant, and at first, everything seemed perfect—the food was great, and the service was excellent. However, the experience took a disappointing turn when it came time for my birthday celebration. I noticed that for other guests, the staff enthusiastically brought out cakes and sang the birthday song. But when it was my turn, they simply placed an old, dry cake in front of me with no effort to acknowledge the occasion. It felt like they deliberately chose not to celebrate my birthday, making me feel unwelcome and disregarded. I can’t shake the feeling that this was more than just an oversight—it felt personal. It completely ruined what should have been a special moment. No one deserves to be treated this way, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience the same. I will never return to this place, and I encourage others to think twice before supporting a business that fails to treat all its guests with equal care and respect.
