Nice spot, friendly and welcoming. I judge a good Mexican restaurant by their chile relleno and theirs is outstanding. Can't wait to try other dishes.

The Swiss Enchiladas are on point with the sauce. The rice is cooked with peppermint = Very good 👍. Tortilla Soup was the best I've had in a while. Overall, Nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and good food. Will be back here to try other menu items but for now 👍 👍

My bf and I ended up coming here because the place we were intending to go to was closed. La Serenata is one of the absolute best Mexican food we've had! We ordered Ruben's Chilorio and it was so tasty! We also got drinks; my boyfriend really enjoyed their micheladas and I enjoyed the pomegranate margarita as well as the red sangria. Definitely come here for a good time!

Wonderful food - my favorite Chile relleno! Full plates are great, and lighter lunch plates are a perfect, affordable lunch. Recommended!

Customer service was great. Street parking only. I ordered a carne asada plate which was really good. Really nice piece of steak grilled perfectly to my taste. I asked for medium and they did a good job delivering it. It was a little bland as far as taste so adding a little bit more salt before cooking it will do it. Meat was tender and juicy not dry at all. Rice was good. Guacamole was very good. Tortillas hechas a mano. Nice touch. The beans were my favorite so goood. I wasn't a fan of the salsa that came with the chips. It tasted like seafood. It was an overwhelming fishy taste. Didn't like that with my chips. Plus I didn't want seafood since I wanted meat. It was a weird mixture. Just simple salsa please! More napkins on the table so we don't keep asking for more since we all know you guys are always busy. A little on the pricey side. Spent $25 for a carne asada plate and a coke. I'll still give it five stars because I really enjoyed my food. I will definitely come back to this place. I want to try the margaritas.

My first time eating from here & I ordered the steak & shrimp fajitas. I was a little disappointed they ran out of rice & they gave me mixed veggies, guess I didn't need the starch. 😀 The rice must be delicious since they ran out, but the beans made up for it, they were DELICIOUS.

Best Mexican restaurant in the century city area. Great for lunch on a weekday, a strong spicy post-work margarita or happy hour on the weekends to watch a football game at the newly renovated bar. It’s an LA classic and worth the trip. Get the tortilla soup, enchiladas and guac!

This place is fantastic! The salsa was served warm and had hints of chorizo. I got chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and they were, in my opinion, the perfect amount of spicy! I highly recommend La Seranata.

One of my favorite underrated west side lunch spots -- family owned and recently renovated. Some pro tips: - Get the mahi mahi molcajete - the sauce is nuanced and flavorful and fish is perfectly cooked - The beans are creamy and addictive. - I could drink the salsa that comes with the chips. - Strong and well-made margaritas

Gordon Ramsay from the famous restaurant show redid the place and it looks wonderful. The restaurant is very clean, well lit with original latin american art on the walls and nice booth seating. Service by Martine was exceptional. He is very informative and fast bringing out orders. My Empanada(mahi mahi filling) in green salsa and cheese filling was great. The street food(esquite) roasted corn w cojita cheese and herbs was also a standout. The tortilla soup was filling, delicious and a deal at only $5. The fresh guac and chips was superior to most mexican places. This is one of my top picks in WLA for authentic, traditional mexican fine dining..

This is a great, intimate spot with fantastic food and drinks! I come here all the time on my lunch break at work and they always get me back on time, but it’s also a perfect place for an evening of margs and quality Mexican food. Plus, the staff is awesome - nothing like sitting down at a nice, clean bar where everyone knows your name and your order. :)

I have been coming here for 25 years or more. I come back, because the food is always excellent and the service is always pleasant. I view it more like a "gourmet Mexican" place, even though the prices are very competitive with any Mexican restaurant. You won't be disappointed. BTW....The desserts are also fantastic and their Key Lime Pie will compete with anybody's.

Great place!! Food is fantastic and owners very friendly. Irma is so lovely. They make the kinda food you could never make at home. Great vegan options, get the mole enchilada!! Just bummed we live in another state, but will always come here when we visit family.

La Serenata de Garibaldi proved to be the perfect venue for my milestone birthday celebration. From the moment our group stepped through the door, we were enveloped by the warm, inviting atmosphere that seamlessly blends traditional Mexican charm with contemporary style of cooking. The restaurant's ambiance always strikes that perfect balance between festive and cozy. But it's the food that truly stole the show. The kitchen elevates Mexican cuisine to an art form. We started with their signature guacamole, ceviche, quesadillas, all exquisite. Their mole, a recipe that reportedly took years to perfect, deserves special mention. Deep, rich, and layered with subtle hints of chocolate and chile, it transformed ordinary enchiladas into something extraordinary. Even simple sides like the black beans and Mexican rice were prepared with obvious care and attention to detail. Everyone was just enthusiastic! Irma and Marco supervised everything with care and cheerfulness. When it came time for the birthday cake, I was so lucky to have two: a Tres Leches and a Flan. Why choose just one? The bar program deserves its own paragraph. Their margaritas, made with premium tequila and fresh-squeezed lime juice, struck the perfect balance between tart and sweet. La Serenata provided exactly the right mix of festivity and sophistication for a milestone birthday celebration with 30 guests. Whether you're planning a special celebration or simply seeking an exceptional Mexican dining experience, La Serenata de Garibaldi delivers on all fronts. It's not just a meal – it's a memory in the making and La Serenata created one I'll cherish forever. I and some of the guests come from a culture with very high culinary expectations: all of them were met and surpassed.

This place is a gem. Amazing vegan/vegetarian menu (meat-eating friends loved it too), with a lot of variety including some of the less common ingredients here like epazote and huitlacoche. Got the vegan plantain mole burrito 🤤 we’ll be back

Me and a buddy stopped in for a mid afternoon meal and had a great experience. The food, drinks and service was phenomenal. Our server, Martine, was on point. The owners, Irma and Marco, are 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet. I consider myself a Mole aficionado. I had the chicken with Mole and my buddy had the Tortilla Soup, both delicious. We both enjoyed a Cadillac Margarita with our meal as well. If you want fine Mexican food at a reasonable price, stop in for a grab a bite!

The mild salsa here is amazing! My very picky eaters ate two bowls of it and we had to take some home. Service was great and staff were very friendly. The food was excellent and we cleaned our plates.

We got an overwhelming craving for Mexican food a few nights ago .. it was about 9:30 at night. When we walked in we were greeted warmly and seated. We ordered guacamole, taquitos, beef and chicken enchiladas. The service was prompt and what really pleased us was the fact that none of the things we ordered were overly salted. We shared flan for dessert and the portion was generous. We will go back. The servers checked repeatedly to see if we were enjoying our food. I was impressed.

We’ve been coming here for years. It’s a real treasure. Nice fish and meats that are then served with about the best salsas and sauce you’ll ever enjoy. The Molcajete is my personal favorite with cool chunks of avocado surrounded by flavorful spicy salsa. I’m glad they didn’t take all of Ramsey’s suggestions, would have ruined the place. Hope they make it until Google moves in next door as that will be a well deserved boom for them.

Don't you love when you find a new staple, go-to restaurant that you'll love AND can bring your non vegan friends and family? With a delicious vegetarian menu with the best whole food vegan options with mostly organic ingredients, this place does not disappoint. As a 1 year old vegan, this will definitely be our new staple spot for Mexican food. $5 happy hour margaritas won't let you down and you definitely get that authentic Mexican deliciousness and homey vibe. Love everything about it.

La Seranata is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles- period. I’m sure there are many other good ones but I’ve been going there on and off for years and the quality of the food has always been amazing. (I live in the Valley so I’m not over in the West L.A. area that much.) I lived in Mexico City for a period years ago and traveled in many states in Mexico, and this “approach” and quality of food is not extraordinary there, but here, especially in Anglo dominated areas it is, except maybe from street trucks, as in my area of Sherman Oaks, where I get a full meal for 2 for $12. Serenata is one block away from what used to be one of the busiest movie theaters (Landmark) in the area with hundreds of people pouring out and filling up the restaurant on weekends. It’s gone and Serenata is almost empty now. It’s great for me because my in-laws live close by and I go there any chance I get. I’m writing this because I know it will go away unless it gets busier, and I really don’t want that to happen. A word about the “ambiente”, the “feel” of the place. It feels like East L.A. or Mexico, about 40 years ago. It’s calm and was so even when it was full of people, because there’s no hint of corporate music or anti-humanistic management. It is still got a family atmosphere. The menu includes moles which are first rate and are rarely offered at more corporate outlets. Also, the small garden is very pleasant in late afternoon or evening, shielded away from the boulevard’s noise with a tropical feel. The help are super personable. My wife and I are planning to stage a party for friends and family just to introduce people to the place but also to take advantage of the sheer pleasure of being there.

How did we just find this place!? They have an entire vegan/vegetarian menu which had so many great options like mole (my fav), huitlacoche quesadilla, in addition to the classics. Try to key lime cheesecake! The owner was super cool and you can tell really cared about his business, it definitely shows. They are also very dog friendly on their nice patio. They were grilling some meat specials that day as well if vegetables aren’t your jam. Show this place some love, it’s amazing!

Love this family owned, authentic, and always tasty Mexican restaurant. They don't use lard, so each dish is healthy, light, and memorable. A great place for a family dinner or takeout. They also have great margaritas, mixed drinks, easy parking, and sports on in the bar.

Just for starters, I love supporting local truly owned family businesses and this a remarkable hidden gem. My family and friends showed up today for a “ pop up burger” event that they for selected hours, and it was phenomenal. They had a limited menu but we started off with the Pico, Guacamole and chips, and never have I had more freshly sliced avocados then the ones I had here. And of course onto the burgers, I attached pictures to describe all of the ingredients but the flavor was unmatched by anything I’ve ever had before. Can’t wait until they decide to do this again!

The food is phenomenal. The black beans are good, but the rice!!! The rice is refreshing with a subtle hint of mint. I had the Guisado Steak Picado. Very flavorful and savory...and lots of tender beef. My girlfriend had the signature quesadilla. Again, most excellent good. The tortilla was fluffy and crisp, the cheese and fish were awesome. If you find yourself in the area of Pico and Westwood this is a must try spot. Check them out on IG. @la_serenata

Still the Best Choice for Mexican on the Westside ... There's a reason La Serenata de Garibaldi continues to thrive when so many restaurants have come and gone. The place is authentically both adorable and sophisticated, with Mexican art and design that make me feel like I'm back in Mexico City. The service somehow feels like you've been invited to your abuelita's for dinner and your cousins are helping out. Can't explain why, but it does! You'll see. But what's really important is the FOOD and that continues to be consistently delicious. We still love, love, love and husband can't resist the siren song of the Shrimp Empanadas, even though we've moved a bit out from the Westside. And the margaritas are delicious ... they manage to hit both the classic expectations but have a unique little twist. Keep thinking Ima sit at the bar one day and watch them ... in the interest of science, of course. Just a word though ... read the street parking signs. This is, after all, the Westside. During the day there's also a little parking in the back off the alley. With so many choices for Mexican in Los Angeles, it can be overwhelming, but La Serenata di Garibaldi makes it easy; it's great for both your consistently delicious go-to and for out-of-town visitors. My husband is from Texas and loves his Mexican and La Serenata de Garibaldi is top of his list. I've spent enough time in Mexico I'm picky about Mexican and it's top of mine, too. Vamos!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and we absolutely loved it. When we came it wasn’t crowded at all, I hope they get more business because the service was amazing and the food was probably the best I’ve had in a Mexican restaurant. We had the shrimp enchiladas, plaintain empanadas, the shrimp Al mojo de ajo, guacamole and chips with molcajete sauce. The salsa was really good and different than I’ve had at other Mexican restaurants. Everything we ate was flavorful. Definitely worth a try! Prices are very reasonable too which is nice post pandemic where everything has gone up significantly in price.

The food was amazing, especially the eggs in the huevos con chorizo with rice, tortillas, and beans. That was all cooked masterfully well. The service staff were so nice and friendly which I greatly appreciate. They brought food and drinks out fairly quickly so their timing was near impeccable. Finally the atmosphere as great. It was so chill, calm, casual. It didn’t feel like you were being rushed or anything which in my opinion is always a good sign. 10/10 would be extremely happy to go there again

When La Serenata first opened, there was a line to get in. With the closure of Westside Pavilion---especially the Landmark Theaters---there is less foot traffic and no theater traffic. As a result, their business has fallen off, but the quality has not. The cuisine is even better than before. An advantage for customers (but not for the owners) is that the restaurant is quiet. Please eat there and keep them in business!

My husband and I had dinner there last night first the first time after living in Mar Vista for over 35 years! We were blown away at the quality of the food and the personalized service! We met Marco the owner, who delighted us with some family stories and the history of this amazing Westside spot. Unfortunately, it wasn't busy at all for a Saturday night and Marco said that he hoped they would be able to remain open, but sadly he wasn't sure as they recently have suffered some financial difficulties. After having an incredible meal, we told him we would post reviews for the restaurant on as many sites as we could! We intend to make this one of our frequent dine out spots and hope that they will be around for a long time. Please support this neighborhood gem!!!

I absolutely love this restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with stylish, colorful decor that creates a lively yet comfortable setting. The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful — both authentic and health-conscious. I especially enjoyed the shrimp enchiladas, which were exceptional. The drinks are expertly crafted, and the housemade desserts are amazing — a perfect finish to the meal. I’ve also been here for a birthday celebration with a group of ten, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff handled everything smoothly, and the energy made it a really fun and memorable night. I’ll definitely be returning often!

Uniquely delicious Oaxacan Mexican food. The mole with its complex flavors of spices, nuts, seeds and chocolate really elevated our dishes. We had a several dishes including yellowtail fish, vegetarian and chicken, which we also at times made tacos with the accompanying warm tortillas. All in all an outstanding meal.

The food is very tasty, the restaurant is stylish, and the prices are fair. But the highlight of my visit was Marco! He was very attentive and he makes the BEST Key Lime Pie in Los Angeles!

This is my favorite local restaurant. The food and staff are incredible. And $5 Margarita Mondays? The best. Their fish dishes are always on point. Please support this wonderful family-run spot. They truly deserve it.

Great authentic and delicious Mexican food. Local owner, great service and very welcoming atmosphere. Place is historic and a neighborhood staple. Definitely recommend for scratching the Mexican food itch.

We love it here! The food is always fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. Plenty of parking in the back. We order takeout here at least once a week, and it never disappoints. On weekends we like to come in for dinner and margaritas and they always make us feel at home! I have a gluten allergy and it’s never been an issue and they are always sweet about it!

Top quality sauces. The above person doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Mole was fantastic -green sauce over the top - real specialty sauce place. Highly recommended by a good friend and he was right. Good margaritas too!

Stopped by for a late lunch at this Mexican food restaurant. The menu seemed plentiful and they even have a separate to lunch portion menu, if you want a smaller portion mid-day. I opted to order steak and chicken fajitas off of their full menu. The fatijas came out sizzling hot. Served with freshly made, hand made, corn tortillas which were excellent. The black beans served were frijoles borrachos made with Modelo beer. Delicious! The steak and chicken were tender, and the bell peppers were cooked perfectly with a slight crunch. Just the way they should be The service was friendly and informative. I learned about the family history of the restaurant and the previous multiple locations that the family owned. They are now down to just this one location and still run by the same family. Overall, a great experience, good food and a nice find!

**Attention** NO Parking, No Parking between 4pm and 7pm you must park across the street and it's a little touch and go... and apparently there's limited parking in the rear. Mojitos are very good and refreshing, margarita's too... Food was good, servers were very attentive, wait time on food could improve, great little spot to stop in and enjoy a tasty mexican food dish.

We had really hopes for this place. It is so pretty inside and the place is spotless. The service is excellent and parking is pretty easy on the street. We looked at the menu and everything looked good. We were waited on right away and again, the servers were super. Sadly the food and prices were lacking. My grandson loves guacamole and we always order that straight away. We always get a large size. It came and was so small for the very high price. It had some tomatoes etc. on the size and they were good. The guacamole was very good. We had to order a second order because there was so little to be had. My grandson wanted a third, but at the prices I said no. We then had enchiladas served with white rice. Mine was not eatable. It had so much sauce and was so very spicy. I did not order spicy and I am not talking about gee that has a kick, I am talking about so hot there should be a warning next to it like there is on a few other things. The rice was dry and ever so bland. My grandson had ordered the same thing. It also came with beans that were no more than average. I asked my grandson if he wanted my food and he said no, his was too hot and he could not eat it. A few bites were taken and we asked for the check and left. We won't be back. And that is sad. They could make better food, they could warn of super hot and they could notice was no food is being eaten. It is a cute place.

Very pleased with this restaurant. Was headed to the bar next door and turned out it was shut down. Walked in here and got quick and friendly service. Food was good. Not the greatest but certainly not bad either. We were looking for a quick drink and meal and that’s exactly what we got. Left pleased. Would recommend the signature chicken quesadilla.

We went out of our way to eat here after seeing them on Gordon Ramsay's show... Sadly, they have the audacity to include his name on their menu, but most of the menu he created they've eliminated. We expected greatness. My wife had taquitos. They were good... But not great. I had their signature dish the fluffy chicken quesodilla. MEH! The idea was interesting but it was completely tasteless. No seasoning at all. The chicken tasted boiled and bland. Their salsa that came with the chips was really good. I would give 2.5 stars if I could. We paid $40 for just so-so food.

Not authentic Mexican food and very pricey for the amount of food served. Typical Mexican food gives you large portions and cheaper. The servers are angels but the food is not good. My boyfriend and I ordered the vegan dishes while my other friends ordered the normal meat dishes and we both equally disliked the food. I ordered huitlacoche and found out I was eating normal cremini mushrooms while my bf had my dish. The server came in and said that huitlacoche is his favorite food while directing his attention to my dish of cremini mushrooms. At that moment, I felt like they didn’t know what they were talking about. I’ve eaten huitlacoche before. The beans had a weird taste of bitter chocolate . My friend said it tasted like horchata in beans. Very weird and off. The hot sauce tastes very off. No tanginess to the hot sauce and just pepper. The rice was very bland. The meat eaters said that they didn't enjoy the meat because it was bland to them. Good setting, great servers, but food needs improvement.

The staff is awkward and generally not in a good mood. We ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole while looking a the menu. The chips were either out a bag and were very old, as they stunk like old oil. The cheese on top of the chips was not even melted nor was it fresh. The salsa tasted like sh** and was very bitter and sour, I think it was way too old and had gone bad. The worse was the guacamole, which was so old that the color on the surface was much darker than the color under and it tasted sour and as if you are having a fizzy water. The decor was awful... the tables were covered with cheap plastic and were not cleaned properly. Food from previous customers was still spread and smudged on the table plastic cover. The room had a bad echo and was way too loud. The service was terrible. The lady who served us could not speak a word of English and had to ask the host to help her. The host, a tall bod man, was extremely rude. When we complained about the appetizer he said "You don't like it? You still have to pay for it". That is where I just stop talking to the man and paid for the food we had order and could not resist more than a bite (which i wanted to throw up on the table). After paying we immediately left the restaurant. The valet guy was the only nice guy and told us that it is very common that people who come here are very dissatisfied and walk out after an appetizer or a drink. One of the ZAGAT users had mentioned that this restaurant is the best Mexican restaurant. I just want to make one thing very clear... this place does not even qualify as a food sh** hole let alone being a restaurant. Summary: Food: distasteful, old, expired, ugly Decor: ugly, nasty, filthy, dirty Service: terrible, rude, aweful Cost per person: too much! FYI: a note to ZAGAT... you guys are screwing your review quality by even considering this place in your surveys.

I have seen this place for a long time and decided to try it. Very disappointed. Chips were counted out (very few), the salsa was nothing to write home about and the drinks are exorbitant. Staff was not friendly at all. The bartender was very scarce with the alcohol. Surprised it is still there with the prices and staff that are there.

Service was BADDDDD!!! Food was descent. Better restaurants serving the same food of higher quality. After watching the Ramsey show I feel sooooo freaking sad for the bald guys mother. Shame on you ///// 2 star because I didn’t feel welcome

Left immediately after tasting their salsa that was brought out for an appetizer. The salsa tasted like someone mixed Tapatio with toilet water. God bless the soul that makes it past the atrocity that is their salsa, and proceeds to digest what smells like my distant uncles bowels.

I'm sad to say that Island's, a few restaurants down and American, has a better tortilla soup than the salty crap I had from this "Mexican" restaurant. Salsa was a joke and tasted like a watered down Tapatío sauce. Will not eat here again.

Mediocre food. Extremely over priced!! I should have known when I walked in and only one table was occupied. Also, there online menu indicates a happy hour but when we asked about the waitress said they don't have happy hour.

I went with coworkers for lunch. The service was very slow. The food was average. We got a pitcher of margaritas and it tasted so awful we couldn't drink it. The bar tender was very nice and brought us a new pitcher. He apologized and corrected the problem. However the server left the 1st pitcher on our bill. We had to fight them to take it off. I will not be returning.

I don’t normally write reviews but I do remember eating at this location awhile ago with my husband and the food was so dreadful that I had to get up and leave. I was not surprised that this place ended up on the Gordon Ramsey show. It’s also more disappointing how the owner Marco is stupid to reply to customers leaving their honest reviews with such a nasty attitude instead of fixing the issue and inviting customers back. Take a business class Marco and learn to cook authentic Mexican food! Disappointing that you went back to your old ways after you received help from Gordon Ramsey. I don’t see this restaurant being opened much longer.

Very poor server, needed more training. Did not know to say the mexican beers on tap!! Took more than 10 minutes to get our chips, salsa and drinks. On a positive note, the food was good. If we go back ever will sit bar area heard servers were good in there!

We ONLY got to taste the yummy margarita & Paloma & waited 45 min to order at the bar & no one took our order so we asked for the check. The check was wrong. We had to find somewhere else to have dinner. Will not be coming back.

We had lunch at this place for the first time since we lived in the neighborhood for 10+ years. Decided to give this place a try, what a mistake, we were the only customer walked in during lunch hour, we ordered shrimp and steak fajita, shrimp was over cooked, burned onion and only 2 tiny strips of steak for $27 and $9 pie was not the best, margaritas were waters down, we had to wait for utensils after fajita was served, no napkins was given to us, we had to get your own. Even stingy on the tortilla chips. Sorry won’t come to this place anymore. Lack of service, worst Mexican food in LA. Only the outdoor seating area has a water fountain which was nice.
