Came here for our first time for my wife's birthday. We sat in the Owners Booth, private and overlooking the restaurant. (a must if you want a romantic and intimate night) MY wife had the Seafood Scampi, some of the best shrimp and scallops we have ever had. Don't get me started on how lemony and buttery the sauce was. I had the Surf and Turf special. The 8oz wagu was cooked to perfection, and the lobster tail was also cooked perfect. That slobster tail was a delight, melt in your mouth and soft. Not over cooked and chewy like most places. A must try for any Italian food lover! Ohh and Tressa our server was spectacular, I hope management and the owner are taking care of her, she is amazing.
Amazing food here! Went out to celebrate and my wife and I were thrilled with the establishment. The atmosphere is very unique, but the food is incredible. We will definitely be back. We were brought out a complementary dessert for our anniversary, which was just the cherry on top of an in incredible evening.
We love coming here so much! It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville. Our server Lilly took amazing care of us last night! We’ve had Nick wait on us before too and he is also great! I got one of the last Mother Tequila’s which made me happy yet sad cause it’s my favorite drink ever 😍 but the new one they’re replacing it with sounds just as good! Best Caesar salad and meatballs in town!
Beautife place! Food was just ok in my opinion. I liked it, but it really pricey even on half price entree night. Service was wonderful...the view is beautiful but I probably won't be going back
This was an Awesome surprise. Kitchy style with wonderful lights and atmosphere. Our waiter Ben was fast and friendly. The massive ceilings feels like I was at an old Phantom of the opera themed Italian restaurant. The Christmas decor added even more spirit to the season. Have fun and enjoy!
We had a wonderful dinner at Grassa Gramma! We ordered the lobster ravioli, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, and spaghetti with meatballs — everything was delicious and full of flavor. The lobster ravioli especially stood out, rich and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was just as memorable as the food. The space is romantic, cozy, and beautifully decorated, with a secluded feel that makes it perfect for a date night or special evening out. Highly recommend both for the food and the ambiance!
I was looking for a new Italian place to try and this place had great reviews so made a reservation. The menu has plenty to choose from, and I went with the carbonara. The waitress recommended the spicy sausage with it and I couldn’t agree more. The pasta was done well, the sauce creamy, and sausage spicy. The lasagna was also really good, and the seafood scampi tasty. The ambiance is unlike any other restaurant in the area, and is fun and cozy. It feels European, just way bigger. The staff were attentive and friendly. Cool spot that’s worth a visit.
My friends took me here for my birthday and I must say this was a great place to celebrate! The gnocchi was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was over the top and magical. I plan to visit again!
This restaurant goes to Great lengths to give you an Italian experience. The interior is incredible. I was told it took years to build. On the day I visited, they were playing disco as you were walking in, and live accordion music in the restaurant itself - don't let that throw you. Great range of selections from the buffet.
This place is absolutely beautiful! The ambiance, the service and the food made the start of girls night exceptional. Our server Parker was the best even though he was very busy, he still gave great service. Will definitely be back!
I went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. I absolutely loved it! The food was fabulous, and the environment was SO cool. I will definitely be coming back. Very intimate and fancy. The spinach artichoke dip makes my mouth water every time I think about it. The pasta was perfectly cooked. The server was attentive but allowed us plenty of time and privacy.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Grassa Gamma was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the Hostess, Ruth, who made us feel right at home. Our server, Christina, provided exceptional service, even starting our meal with a complimentary toast—a thoughtful touch! The food was incredible, cooked to perfection and fresh. A huge shoutout to the chef—whoever they are, they deserve a special award! Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully prepared—chef’s kiss! The ambiance was perfect for our anniversary dinner, and we had the pleasure of sitting in the cozy Gucci booth, which made the evening even more special. I will absolutely be recommending Grassa Gamma to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!
Celebrated a birthday here and it was a special experience! The spaghetti and meatballs were amazing; best I’ve ever had so far. The atmosphere here was the best part. Service was great and felt so welcome.
Let me just say, one feels like royalty when entering this establishment. I only wish I could take the chefs home and have them cook for me. I was treated like a princess and they even asked if we were celebrating anything, which we were, our anniversary. I usually am never filled to the extreme at a restaurant but they made me stuffed like a fat turkey on Thanksgiving. Id definitely go again for a birthday or anniversary as well.
Grassa Gramma made one of the most important nights of our lives absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfectly organized from the stunning seating arrangement to the beautiful roses they had prepared in support of my now fiancé’s proposal. Their staff went above and beyond to help create a magical moment we’ll never forget. And the food? Out of this world. Every bite was incredible, but the filet was next-level cooked to perfection and full of flavor. If you haven’t tried it, you’re seriously missing out. I can’t recommend Grassa Gramma enough. Whether you’re celebrating something big or just looking for a phenomenal meal, this place delivers in every way. 💍❤️🍽️
Absolutely obsessed — a stunning spot with unforgettable charm! I first visited Grassa Gramma for my work Christmas party and instantly fell in love with the atmosphere, the food, and the overall experience. I received a gift card for my birthday last week and went back — now I’m hooked and already planning my next visit! One of my favorite things about this place is the cozy little bar section tucked away from the main dining area. It’s perfect when I just want to pop in for a quick martini and slip out. It’s elegant, quiet, and gives me that little moment of peace (and luxury!) during a busy day. The entire place is gorgeous, the staff is always welcoming, and everything feels intentional. Can’t wait to come back again soon!
Delicious food, absolutely beautiful decor. Trent was very courteous and kind, and had a lot of great suggestions. We got the duck meatballs as an app, and I absolutely devoured them!!! I got the chicken fraise and my boyfriend got the veal parmigiana. We went on a Wednesday and got half off bottles of wine too! Our friend also very much enjoyed the tiramisu!!
We went on a Monday and was seated right away! Jimmy took care of us on the patio all night. My whole table did the Monday special and each course was timed perfectly. Can’t wait to come back. So yummy
Huge portions of delicious food with great service. The food is priced very well, too. I got the mushroom trifolata with salmon and my partner got the pesto with shrimp. Both were absolutely amazing. We will absolutely be back the next time we come through town!
1000/10! Had such a great time. Had my birthday dinner here. The atmosphere was just gorgeous and the Lasagna was just AMAZING !! The cocktail I had was a 5/10, (Lily of The Valley) . It was very strong and tasted almost like a bitter orange peel but it was presented very well and it was tolerable. The bathrooms were clean and so creative. I enjoyed my experience and I will be back!
We arrived without a reservation and were seated in about 15 minutes, not bad for a Friday night. The bread and olive oil was great! We were then forgotten about for 15-20mins and I had to go the hostess station and let them know we still haven't had any wait service yet. This was handled very well extremely quickly. The general manager grabbed a waiter. Kane to serve us. Kane was amazing and quickly got us back to feeling very well taken care of, and we got our drinks and appetizers quickly. We had the muscles, which were so delicious and cooked perfectly! We ordered our salad and entrees. The salad came out which was peach caprese, it was okay. but could have used some fresh peaches, not canned and more balsamic. Then we had another issue, apparently our entrees were skipped in the kitchen. Again our waiter and the general manager explained everything and were very apologetic, the brought us some of their house made meatballs to tide us over until our entrees were ready. Meatballs were also very delicious and I highly recommend them! Our entrees came, the salmon risotto for my wife and seafood scampi for myself. So delicious and worth the wait!! Perfect cooked and seasoned. We also had some desert to go at that point as we had been there for almost 2.5-3hrs, and were very full. Overall, with the delays and issues, the staff handled it amazingly well and made us feel appreciated! Shout out for sure to Kane our replacement waiter! We will be back for sure, plus the place feels like an Italian street market café which adds to the atmosphere and great food!
We had a gift card and had never been. We looked it up online and the pictures and reviews were wonderful! We made a reservation online, highly recommend. Arrived to a beautiful foyer with artwork and decor. The three hostesses were friendly and kept us up to date on our seating. (We had arrived ten minutes early). One hostess offered us complimentary glass of champagne. When we were seated, we were upstairs tucked in a corner. A group next to us were celebrating a birthday and the server brought out a cute dessert with a candle. So, mention any celebrations. Immediately upon being sat, we received water and bread with oil. The oil was a little chilly and lacked flavor, but we added salt/pepper and that helped. Our server was Nick. He was polite and friendly and went over the specials and offered us a complimentary glass of wine. We did look at the appetizers and such delicious options. I chose one of the specials and my husband had the Baked Seafood Imperial. I absolutely loved my dish, while my husband thought his was ok. The cream and butter had separated making the dish more oily. But both dishes were plentiful and we did end up taking them home. Dessert was offered and we chose the tiramisu. I recommend this. Fabulous! The only thing that prevented us from enjoying the evening was one light that was brighter than the others. Made us feel like we were in a spotlight. However, a server from below came up and removed it. States he saw how bright it was. Once that was fixed, we felt like that made the seating more romantic. Perfect! They offer brunch and we will be back to try that. Overall, we suggest this place for a casual dinner or get dressed up and celebrate something special. It is now our go to place for special occasions.
Grassa Gramma is an absolute gem in Louisville! From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a place of rustic elegance and charm. The decor is stunning, with intricate details that make you feel like you're dining in a European castle. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and perfect for a special night out. The food is divine, with each dish crafted to perfection. We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail in both the presentation and flavor. The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal—delicious and beautifully served. The service was impeccable, Sam made us feel welcome and attended to throughout the evening. Grassa Gramma is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends, this place will not disappoint. Highly recommend!
The entire restaurant is incredibly gorgeous. For an appetizer we got crab cakes and they were delicious. The fillet mignon was amazing, I did not like the seafood scampi but they took it off of our bill! Kane was our server and he was an absolute sweetheart to my 6 year old sister, he was fast and efficient. The bathrooms are unbelievable, if you visit Grassa Gramma you must go in the bathroom.
This is definitely a place that deserves the hype - and the price. The food, service, and vibe here are all amazing. I have described it like Italian Disneyland to my friends, which still feels accurate. I really can't gush enough about the food. This place has the best Italian food I've ever had. I've gone with enough people to try a bit of most menu items, and all of them I would happily order again for myself. The duck meatballs are probably my favorite, and the flavors are so rich that eating two duck meatballs feels like a struggle. I can't suggest any entree because I've loved them all and the portions are often enough for two meals. All of the desserts are worth saving room for. The cocktails are all superb. You get a small glass of wine to toast with before your meal, plus as much bread and olive oil as you feel comfortable asking for refills for; the toasting wine, bread, and olive oil are included for free. The service is great without feeling pretentious. Every time I've been here, a manager has come, unasked for, to check that everything is perfect. Everyone working here seems to care a lot about their job. My only VERY minor complaints are that the bike tables (while cute!) around the fountain are not the most comfortable and the flickering lights can be a bit much for those sitting on the second floor. In general though, I wish I could rate Grassa Gramma with more than 5 stars. (And if it helps, Phillip was our main server this visit and did a great!)
We typically don’t love Italian food or fancy restaurants but after receiving gift cards, visited Grassa Gramma for a fun night out. What an experience. Truly a magnificent place with no details forgotten - think Disney’s International Plaza at Epcot…stunning decor, lighting and interior design. My pictures simply don’t capture the beauty. Our server, Zoe, was very nice and attentive, with a great personality. The food was very good - not something we’d normally try but if you’re into fancy Italian, you’ll love Grassa Gramma. Definitely plan to return for half-price Wednesday wine night!
Don't judge a book by its cover brought to life. Set in an unpretentious strip mall you are in for a delightful and delicious surprise! Grassa Gramma is furnished with parts of old theater sets and defunct churches to give it an old world feel. The servers are attentive and accommodating. The food is made on site with generous portions and the deserts ... momma Mia!
I have lived here for 3 years and never gave Grassa Gramma a chance as it was in the same area of a Kroger and other stores - man was I missing out. First the atmosphere is simply magical , cobblestone and brick floors with large intricate wooden doors greet you upon entering. Charming chandeliers and a fountain steal the show with charming balconies offer romantic nooks for intimate moments with loved ones. The food was equally as pleasant, with large portions and delicious sauces. My 9 year old said it became his favorite restaurant in town and that statement followed with a high-five, which is a top review from our food critic!
Grassa Gramma is such a cool spot. The place looks amazing inside and the food was really tasty. Big portions too, so you definitely don't leave hungry. Our server Raekwon was great. Super nice, checked on us just enough, and gave us a good suggestion that we ended up loving. Really enjoyed it and would go back for sure.
I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. He got the lobster ravioli and I got the cacio de pepe mushroom. Both beyond delicious. I so wish I could remember our servers name tho. She had a really cute pixy cut and was so sweet to us. We will be going back.
Little pricey, but the food was delicious and our server Audrey was on top of her game. My gf had the shrimp scampi and the shrimps were huge; it also came with 3 big scallops. She loved it. Had enough to take home and have the next day for lunch. I’m a vegetarian so I had the pasta primavera full of squash and zucchini matched with a pesto sauce. First time I’ve had it like that and let me tell you, it was delicious. Would recommend this place
The staff is without exception so far extremely professional, friendly and warm. Ashley is a delight and while I don't remember the other ones names they were all fine every time so far. The food is fantastic, love the new bigger plates of food and absolutely love the atmosphere as well. If I would comment on one thing it is that it felt like being rushed out of there 1 hour into arriving, I understand not staying 3 hours but being rushed by one of the servers (did not catch name) is a bit odd, but the experience overall is still solid and I would recommend this to anyone looking for not only the best Italian food in Louisville but the top tier food overall.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had; cocktails were amazing too. Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was soooo comfortable and beautiful. You can absolutely feel that this place is a labor of love. I definitely will be back when I visit the area!
The atmosphere, the food, the service, all of it was phenomena!! I finally got to try them out and I’m looking forward to returning. I got the cacio e pepe with chicken and it was truly one of the best dishes i’ve ever had, the chicken pieces were so flavorful and juicy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. and of course the inside is beautiful, i’ve never seen a restaurant like it before, i spent half of dinner just looking around and taking everything in
Tonight my husband, daughter, and myself decided to treat us. We had Parker as our server and he was fantastic! He explained several times the different specialties. Parker was very professional and made our night fun. The food was excellent. I would definitely go back.
We just finished brunch here (party of 5) and I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was. The food was amazing, the service - incredible, and the atmosphere was so immersive. I highly recommend taking the time to learn about details from the staff like from where the front doors originate or whose picture is above the kitchen. We loved everything about our experience. And we will definitely be back, there are so many choices on the buffet I was only able to try about half.
We have eaten at Grassa Gramma several times. I have enjoyed each meal I have tried. The last time there I had chicken carbonara. It was very flavorful. The free bread that comes to table is soft and delicious. We got several desserts since we were celebrating. We got the cannoli, limoncello torta and the dark chocolate budino. All absolutely delicious. The server was great. It can be a little pricey, but you get authentic housemade noodles and the atmosphere is perfect especially for a special occasion.
I really enjoyed this place. Service was what you would hope for. Heather was our server. She is GREAT! Atmosphere was so relaxing and very pretty. The Cacio de Pepe with chicken, Catch of the Day and The Chicken Francaise were all excellent dishes. I will be back. It is worth every $. Thanks for a wonderful night.
First time for the Sunday brunch and it was amazing! Great variety of hot, fresh food-eggs cooked to order, waffle bar, chilled seafood, Italian classics and much more. Service was excellent and they even have some great brunch drinks specials. Gorgeous decor (check of the bar area, you're drinking with Jesus), you definitely wouldn't know you're in a strip mall. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Definitely going back to order off the menu for dinner!
The atmosphere was amazing! Went for brunch this morning to celebrate my girlfriends birthday and it's a beautiful place! Like stepping into a castle! There was a live accordian player while you ate and the selection of food was amazing! Food was fantastic. Would definitely go back!
Love the lighting, decor, atmosphere, and our server was attentive with no delays in delivering requests. We sat upstairs which was a great view of the restaurant but I noticed a thick layer of dust all along the railing we were sitting next to. Seems like they need to revamp their 5 minute task list to include additional cleaning.
What a cool looking restaurant. It felt like we were in a European castle. Our server Lilly was awesome, she took her time explaining all the specials and answering any questions we had. While the service and atmosphere were top notch the food was just okay... It was good but for the price we expected more. We probably will not be back, we can't justify the price for what you get in return.
3.75/5 . Visited on a Saturday afternoon . No wait for my party of two but we arrived 30 minutes after they opened . It’s connected to a strip mall but when you walk in you totally forget that. From the entrance to the dining area u feel as if you’re in a stand alone restaurant . Here’s a fair warning that the lights are extremely low. We sat upstairs on balcony and couldn’t read our menus without lights from our phone and turned on the flashlights to actually eat the food so we could see it . The aesthetics are cool but it would be better if it was a tad brighter. Our server was awesome and knew the menu pretty well. I ordered lasagna and she ordered chicken carbonara with added salmon. We got the side of their Parmesan potatoes. All of the food was good and healthy serving size . You get a free glass of wine as a tradition before you even order. The lasagna was big and cheesy and I couldn’t finish it. The pasta was good but salmon was bland . Potatoes were good as well. They’re a side but we ordered as an appetizer lol . I’ll try the spaghetti and meatballs on my next visit
I had the wagu steak and potatoes with asparagus and two glasses of wine split appetizers. $185.00 Flavor was nothing special and we did have dessert, I ordered the cannollis they were not my favorite. The atmosphere and service was amazing 😍
Staff and service was excellent. The atmosphere was incredible. The food was very good and I appreciate the homemade quality. The pasta was delicious and we had a person who needed gluten-free and it was very good. We were disappointed in the bolganase as it was a bit bland and all the food came out luke-warm. We made reservations (good thing) so there was no wait. Music was loud but they turned it down immediately on request. The Old Granddad Old Fashion was excellent!
Excellent experience overall compared to the other times we've been at the restaurant. The Caesar salad was quite heavily seasoned and salty. The Focaccia bread was wet without even dipping it into the olive oil.
It was our 25th wedding anniversary. I was thankful that it was open due to weather and made the late 8:30 reservation work since it was the only one left. I had made a note when booking and then commented again when we checked in about it being our anniversary and wanted a little something special as far as seating. Next time, I will be much clearer! We sat in a long booth not romantic or private at all. It was next to the kitchen and we both kept getting smells of cleaning supplies. We could hear at one point of what sounded like floors being scrubbed. Ugh just not a good vibe, feel or experience. The waitress was kind but she did seem a little scattered, she had a lot going on. It was a low/mid-level experience and we were just hoping for so much more. In fact my husband promised a make up dinner to fix this.
My fiance and I were visiting Louisville for the first time, and online this restaurant was very highly recommended and also had wonderful reviews. Walking in the decor and atmosphere is really nice, the menu is not that large of a menu, which to me is always a green flag! We looked at the menu, and waitress went over the specials for the night. She was very nice and accommodating, we ended up ordering a couple of drinks, an appetizer, salad and two entrees. Our total spent was $175.00 without tip. Him and I never mind paying for a good meal, but for the price range of this establishment is in, it does not live up to the hype. The appetizer was very outdated, and honestly tasted like salami but in a plate with bread, the grilled Cesar salad and two small quarters of a small head of romaine lettuce, my entree was the mushroom trifolata and the description of it had my mouth watering!! But I was very disappointed when got it, it looked less garlic creamy and more of a watery cream, and had a TON of chopped asparagus, the flavor profile wasn’t really there and was a big miss for me. My fiance ordered one of the specials of the night. The lobster pasta, which was just a pasta with sauce and a lobster tail thrown on top. The sauce was good but $69 good? No not at all. He was more paying for the lobster tail. When you dine in an establishment such as this, with wonderful reviews and a pretty high spending rate, you have expectations, such as food presentation and flavors, seating and bathrooms. The table we sat at was cool, they made them out of bikes!! Great way to recycle. The restrooms were not up kept, the first time I used the restroom I had to steal toilet paper from another stall for the bathroom and I did tell staff, the second time I went in there before leaving it looked the same, this time no toilet paper. So I had to take the last roll out of the other stall. All in all, I will not be recommending this restaurant to any of my friends or anyone else who might inquire about it. Because yes, it is blowing up on social media, and people will take the bait (like myself) but if you’re reading this no tea no shade to this restaurants owners but it’s a lot of money for a below mid meal. Maybe it’s just what we got that wasnt up to par or a bad night idk. Just putting my review out there.
I made a special request at Grassa Gramma to have “Will you be my girlfriend?” written on a dessert plate for a romantic moment. Instead of writing it in chocolate like other photos clearly show, it was written directly on the plate in what looked like black Sharpie. It completely ruined what was supposed to be a special experience. If I had known this was how it would be done, I would have just written it on a plate at home myself. For a restaurant that presents itself as upscale, this was incredibly careless and disappointing.
I feel like such a snob writing this but wow what a huge disappointment. First walking in felt like I was at a theme park restaurant with plastic and foam decor (in photos it looks beautiful, in person it looks cheap). The food…. Really bad especially for the cost!! My first bite was of the focaccia, when I had to rip a bite of it off I knew we were in for a disappointment. Thank god we had our senses to not order their cheapest bottle of wine ($46) because we knew it would’ve been bad and overpriced, but we were looking forward to having wine with our meal. My husband had to send his veal parm back which he never does but for $46 I’m glad he did! It was not crispy and meat was rubbery. Whatever cheese they use in the artichoke dip was stringy and not creamy, hard to even get onto the lackluster pita. The mussels tasted fine but the mussels themselves were very small and more expensive than mussel and burger bar. The fried ball of rice had ok taste but we’re talking about a fried ball here, the spinach inside was all in one lump like the ingredients hadn’t been mixed together properly. The waitress was very friendly however and came by often to check on us, and helped when my husbands food was bad. We came in the first place bc we had a gift card, and unfortunately we forgot it at home so the worst part was having to pay out of pocket and it being so expensive, though they did remove the $46 from our total. Will not be back, cannot recommend. Wish we could get some good Italian food in this town!
