Not all Rise N Shines are the same and this one really rises above and shines! I haven't went to a donut place in town better than this one. They were out of the donuts I wanted one time, no problem, went back and made them for me- unlike some other places that you'd be s-o-l. The kolaches are better too. Some places use those low quality "hotdog" sausage or the bread is lacking, not at this place. They are on point! The customer service is pretty good too. A lady named Heidi works there and she is an absolute pleasure. Great way to start the day!

Best donuts. Everything else is really good. I've had just about everything they offer and it's all good all the time. Love seeing the empty donut chain next door slow and the line wrapped around Rise and shine.

The walk-in and drive-through is always busy at Rise-and-Shine which is a very good sign. They are quick at the counter so it's possible to do a donut run before work but don't expect to be first in line :-) Rise and Shine is open 7 days between 5:30am and 12 noon which is very convenient. Selection is great but always better when you go early. Their donut glaze is just perfect. Very smooth and not to sweet and not too much. The cinnamon buns are huge! As big as your head, no exaggeration. Cake donuts are just the right amount of texture on the outside and soft on the inside. There are lots of sprinkle donuts for the kids. The maple filled donuts are awesome. They are constantly stocking the shelves during the day so don't worry if you don't see your favorite. They probably have it in the back so be sure to ask. And don't forget to try some donut holes because they are terrific. Rise and shine also has a good selection of fresh made-to-order breakfast burritos and they are perfect. These take a few minutes to make but they are huge and a great value for the price. One will fill you up. Each are individually wrapped in foil and served with little cups of a tasty red sauce. I like the bacon, egg, cheese because the bacon is chopped into the egg making it easy to eat. The cold case is stocked with milk, juice, and soda in case you don't feel like coffee. There is plenty of space at the counter but limited seating inside so I wouldn't count on being able to sit inside every time you go. Parking in front is full every time I go but I've never had trouble parking in the back. There are plenty of spaces. The drive-through runs around the back so be careful where you park during peak times. If you have a big vehicle it might be tight getting around the drive-through line. Further back is better. Rise-and-Shine is easy to see from the road. I haven't had a problem getting in or out. They have three access lanes: An in and out on University and an in/out on 79th. They accept credit/debit cards if you don't carry cash but a minimum $5 purchase is required which is reasonable given what the banks charge for small transactions. Give Rise-and-Shine a try if you haven't yet. I think think they are one of Lubbock's best.

Another place,that is the heart of Lubbock. Breakfast burrito made to order, take the hot sauce that they offer on the side...yummy!!! Before COVID, this was the hub for early mornings, let's help them come all the way back!

Delicious! The bear claws and cinnamon twists are more habit forming than girl scout cookies, seriously. For a comparison, cheaper than dunkin and they have better donuts - favorite place for a donut fix.

Year after year I continue to return to this location, as everything is consistently great. Staff is quick, friendly, and helpful, and the selection/quality is always great no matter when you go. My biggest issue with many places is the quality of food is heavily dependent on when you go, but that doesn't apply here. Everything from donuts to burritos to kolaches taste great, and I never have to guess if it'll be worse than the last time. I personally recommend their Apple Fritters (they offer tasty Blueberry & Cherry Fritters too), as they're far larger than the typical chain place Fritters, and are balanced between soft and crispy with a distinct apple flavor. Lastly, even if there's a line (inside or out), it's easy to get in & out quickly. Highly recommend over other donut places in the area.

I loved this shop when I lived in Lubbock a few years ago. My friend and I stopped in for breakfast and she enjoyed a couple of donuts and an egg/cheese/potato burrito. I had eggs and bacon with cheese and salsa. I did have a small piece of one of the donuts and it was as soft and fluffy as I remember. The perfect amount of crispness that donuts should have with the right amount of sweetness in the dough. The staff is always very friendly and everyone has a bright attitude. They have a very reasonable price for their breakfast items.

I'd definately vote for this place for having the best donuts in Texas. The folks are super friendly and very helpful. There is quite often a wait at the driveup, but that is because they are so popular. Dunkin donuts moved in across the street from them and it didn't take long for Dunkin to close their doors. They couldn't compete with the quality of donuts you get from Rise N Shine Donuts. I can't praise them enough for the quality of their products.

My mom drinks decaf, I don't. I got to her house early one morning & needed a cup of Joe. She told me about Rise N Shine Donuts just across University. As I arrived I noticed there was a line of cars at the drive-thru and two lines inside. I went in and waited in line and I noticed everyone inside seem to be a regular. I got my coffee my donut and a breakfast burrito and sat down at a large table where a bunch of elderly gentlemen were sitting. They told me that the place stays busy and on the go from when it opens at 5 a.m. till it closes at 1 p.m. The coffee was really good, the breakfast burrito was scrumptious, and the donuts were amazing, but ...they had a blueberry fritter... I've never had one before, and it changed my life! It was the most delicious thing I have put in my mouth in a long time. I have a strange feeling I will soon become a regular, as well.

It was about noon when we came to this fine establishment with fresh donuts and food was delicious! While we were ordering the staff also attended to our kids gifting them Halloween hats! Be prepared to wait in line at drive through at 930am. But is definitely worth it. The chocolate long john is huge and the chocolate taste amazing. Sometimes the donut places that have chocolate glaze taste like chemicals but this one does not.....it's worth the wait. The new iced coffee vanilla is sweet and yummy!

Donuts are good had the cinnamon glaze twist and it was not fully cooked there was still some raw dough on the inside. The other ones were good. Service is great tho the staff there are very kind and cheerful.

Love them. I just wish they’d make MORE donuts. There are times I show up at 9AM and the Pickens are slim but they can’t make any more. Idk if it’s the owners or what but when I can’t get my favorite donuts and it’s still very much breakfast time, that’s not good business. I don’t see why they can’t make more other than they’re worried about having leftovers.

Signs say "No mask, no shirt, no shoes, no service" but over half of the employees have masks on but they're not even pulled up. Why would you require it of your patrons if you can't we've get your employees to do it?

The one on university is awesome the ladies are there at 5am every morning.. WONDERFUL SERVICES.... THE location on 50th NOT good.. Donuts are hard and left out overnight... That's unacceptable... Poor service as well..

Love this place me and my family get breakfast Sunday mornings. This Sunday was horrible had some kid that couldn't take a order plus mumbled everything so I had no idea what he was saying .

I hate to give this establishment only 3 stars because they really are amazing and their food and the owner are just awesome! We have been coming here for years and even when we moved away for a short time to Dallas we missed this donut shop! But recently I think they hired new people. The Hispanic girl that took my burrito order over the phone was VERY rude and she took my order wrong for the SECOND time! Also when I go through the drive thru.. I’m not sure if it’s the same person or not but she is very rude also. There was another Hispanic woman that used to work the drive thru all the time and I haven’t seen her in a while.. she is very sweet and always makes our experience so good! These new little girls they have hired act like they hate their job and are very rude. I will keep coming back just because I do like the food and the owner but please have a talk with them or find new people who are kinder and actually take the time to make sure they have the correct order.

Came here today. Not a single donut, kolache, or burrito on the shelves at 10:30am. No workers up front. Didn't see or even hear a worker for the 2 minutes I stood awkwardly at the counter waiting for someone to show up. Aside from some old guy sitting in the corner drinking a cup of coffee there appeared to be no workers in sight. I waited. I left. I'd give it zero stars were it not for the fact that it was Monday and they probably got hit hard with the breakfast crowd. But still, when all you serve is donuts and breakfast items from 5a-1p I expect you to be prepared for an average Monday morning rush. It's donuts, not rocket science.

I know for a fact when i came in two days ago, that my burrito came out to be 5.83, and the staff was friendly so I left a small 2 dollar tip because I know how it is in food. I guess someone in the store decided they deserved more and changed my 2 dollar tip to a 4 dollar tip equalling 9.83. Never coming to this rise and shine again. Whoever is out changing tips, you're burning yourself. People do/will notice.

Lots that can be said here. I've always loved their food, but the issue is their service. Today, my father and I stopped by and because of a negative experience with Shipley's down the road being out of most of what we went there for, decided to go inside to get a visual of what they still had for the day. It was roughly 5-10 minutes before close at noon, but they were still clearly open and operating. I barely opened the door when one of the workers yelled out that the dining room was closed and to go through the drive through. To eliminate wasting our time and theirs I asked what they still had to sell for the day and was cut off by the same employee with "go through the drive through and we'll tell you" while another was kind enough to verify they still had most items ready to go. I can empathize as I have worked and managed my fair share of food service and genuinely try not to be at an establishment so close to closing. There are days where you're just over it all. But if there is no signage, no differentiation of dining room hours versus drive through hours, when a customer walks in, honor that advertised time and serve them rather than yell at them from across the shop, or walk around to them to inform them that they can order inside, but that upon receiving their food you ask that they take it to go as you are almost closed for the day. As a manager, if it had gotten back to me that my employees had been that unnecessarily rude to a customer when the business was still within operating hours, it wouldn't have flown with me. TLDR: food is still as good as always - a Lubbock staple - service needs improvement.

Why open a place that says open at 5am? This place is NEVER open on time or have product ready. Going to my other place on 34th, they want business and are courteous too 😏

Definitely not African American friendly people I asked for regular kolaches and got spicy wasn't too bad but definitely spicy didn't bother to go back didn't feel welcome here at all as I stood waiting for my order and watched EVERYONE be greeted coming in expect me then it dawned on me as to why my skin was way darker than everyone after me wanna be treated like you should be served out the back door then this is the place for you

Ordered donuts and egg bacon biscuit and my biscuit was served cold. I hate to think it was on purpose but my suspension says it was because I didn't leave a tip and I had to wait on my sandwich. I do believe in tips at appropriate businesses but if I have to wait in line for the drive through and get bad service due to my perspective, no thanks. Very unprofessional for a respectable business and extremely disappointed.

Best donuts anywhere but go in and order. The lady at the drive up window can't get an order right to save her life. The last four times I've been there, order has been completely wrong. Pulled up on her one day squeezing a zit at the window. Later! I'm going across the street for my fried dough from now on, where terrible cashiers don't solicit tips for their horrible service. This is the worst Rise N Shine donuts in Lubbock! Stop by just after opening, when I got home I did not get what I ordered. I called the store to let the lady know that the burrito I ordered was missing, she was so rude and could care less and was only interested in telling me that I was supposed to pull forward and wait for the burrito, at the window the lady who took my order who is apparently the manager did not tell me to pull forward and wait for the burrito so how was I supposed to know? Again very rude employee, THEN I take a bite of the croissant that I ordered and it had a sausage in it instead of bacon! I do not like sausage, I ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant. So I then call the store again to let them know that I did not get what I ordered! Again the same employee answered the phone, just plain out rude! I asked to speak to the manager and she still insisted on knowing what my problem was before she let me speak with her, I then told her I've had another issue with my order she then went on to tell me that the lady who took my order was the manager 🤦‍♀️ so I asked to speak to her anyways. When she got on the phone she apologized after I told her of the two mishaps she seemed to be very overwhelmed, said they had a bad week etc., as somebody in the hospitality industry I know sometimes life can be rough, but I would never carry that over into my work ethic!!!!! Long story short I will not come back to this store not even to get the items that they put me down for that I did not get, the service is so terrible I can only imagine if the owners knew how the lady who answered the phone treats their customers! I wish I could give zero stars!!!!!! At least I got the 2 chocolate donuts I ordered 🙄
