I love going to this place. They have the best food and loving loving attitude. I love that woman. Good job China kitchen
BEST CHINESE FOOD EVER. Whoever is saying that’s its the worst or overpriced are wrong. The food is actually cooked by Chinese people which makes it good not like nasty ol Panda Express, panda taste like frozen plastic. And the price is good because they actually serve a lot of food on a plate. People that are saying it’s overpriced are cheap. I’ve been eating here since I was a child and it’s still sooooo good. Everyone that I have recommended to eat here love it, even from people from different states/cities so I definitely recommend!
The food was really good 👍. I got two things, wor wonton soup and three flavor meat & mixed tea! Both had great portions and the food tastes great. It cost me 40.53.
China Kitchen is delicious. The wait can be a bit long depending on the day your ordering & possibly time. Many enjoy their food for lunch & dinner. So trying to avoid those time zones would be recomendable. Suggestions: Chicken Fried Rice Pork Chowmein Fried Shrimp (sweat & sour dip sauce included) Beef & Broccoli
The food here is so Delicious I had to write this, I have been coming here for over 20+ years, traveling 30 miles for this good food that never fails! Some people say it’s pricey but it’s well worth it& this isn’t fast food, this is real authentic Chinese food cooked to its style, if I could give more starts I absolutely would. Thank you, Joel Alvarez
We always order from this place as other places we tried doesn't hit the spot. Rice is bomb, and love ordering the chicken chow. Recommend this place if ever craving chinese food!
The best Chinese food in maderaa loved their food
My niece the Birthday girl chose to have China Kitchen for her birthday dinner this past Sunday. We purchased a large to-go order for our family of 10. I ordered an order of Roast Pork Fried Rice & an order of Orange Chicken. I really loved the taste of these dishes; was surprised & saddened to find out that this restaurant will soon be closing.

I arrived and was greeted with a friendly hello. I explained it was my first time and asked for recommendations. She probed with some questions and we landed on shrimp rice/chow mein and this sautéed vegetable dish. It was very tasty and I would come by again. The person working the front was very helpful, charismatic, and made this take out joint feel comfortable. I would go out of my way to swing by, but I would come again if in the area.
Best Chinese food ever! Very authentic. I love eating here 😋
China kitchen is one of those hole in the wall restaurants that are absolutely stellar. It’s a restaurant that you take your family, date, friend, and just about anyone that’s into Chinese food. The prices are on par for what you would expect at any given Chinese restaurant, but it’s still worth it overall. The food is fresh and of a high-quality, unlike a certain overpriced buffet here in the city of Madera. Still, I must stress the fact that it is indeed a hole in the wall restaurant so if it gets incredibly busy, do expect a lack of seats, especially during weekends and holidays when other families dining in as well.
The food is amazing, it is kind of pricey but the large servings make up for it. If only they invested in the dining area, they would get 5 stars for the atmosphere. Every time I go, I get the pork fried rice, house chowmain, and the bbq pork
My family and I have been coming to the China kitchen for many years now. The food is always absolutely delicious and fresh. We can smell the Garlic and their food from the parking of food 4 less. So at times we were going to cook, however China kitchen sounds perfect for dinner tonight. Great family owned business and we love their hospitality.. Thank you, for the many years of great food.

I used to not like going here because the wait in the restaurant took a long time. But the food is probably the best Asian food in Madera. And since it's only takeout, the wait isn't bad at all
They have turned this place around and most of their dishes are very good. Definitely recommend the fried shrimp.
These poor people need to hire some more ppl to help them take better care of there ever increasingly growing customer base. Primarily mexican American, who knew they would even be interested in Chinese cuisine? Anyways good food and even thow we had to wait 40min. To eat i would do it again.
In My opinion, the best Chinese food in Madera. Though not traditional Chinese, as far as spices and preparation ... It's still very good in what we know here as, "American Chinese". Great place though. They're friendly. Prices are reasonable. Good food. Sister portion size. If I want Chinese ... This is where I go.
Great portion sizes. Food pretty good, not many options in this area. Egg rolls over fried super greasy.

We were seated quickly and the food was very good especially the curry chicken. We also had pineapple chicken, chicken chow mein, and spicy garlic pork. All were very good. During our visit it was nice and clean. With good service. They explained dishes and made recommendations. Very nice people and very good food.
The staff works very hard and the food taste's great. Some days it is a long wait, so it is popular. It's the best Madera has to offer as far as good old "take out" goes. If you don't mind waiting its a great place to get food. I love the shrimp fried rice, not too chewy and it doesn't taste old.

There's better places than this in town...i had dinner with some friends at this location. The food was ok... not anything special... the bill came....5.99 for ice tea...😡
I love the food from here but the waitress is always rude. I asked for a table on the back and she just said no. I was like ok whatever . But this is not the first time I had said i wasn't going to eat there again, but my sister was craving it. Good food. Bad service.
WAY BETTER THAN THE ONE ON HOWARD ROAD, BUT, I ordered fried shrimp and chicken with vegis on fried noodles and a soda cost me "$30.00" WTF, small serving size, vegies were under cooked not enough noodles, shrimp were great, sweet n sour sauce too sweet no sour, hot mustard zero heat, soup good. "WAY OVERPRICED" It was clean though, good service.
Delicious food but horrible service. If it wasn't for the great food I wouldn't come. The lady's are always really rude and the wait time is always about 30 to 40 min.
The food is very good but won’t go there anymore, older lady , not sure if the owner, told us in a very rude and loud way to leave cause we had food from somewhere else for the two little kids. The rest of us that were 5 older people were gonna eat there but as soon as she seen us walk in she said in a loud voice “NO OUTSIDE FOOD GET OUT” 😡 she could of been nicer and just say “ I’m sorry no outside food is allowed” instead of embarrassing our kids and us that way. Too bad , it used to be my favorite place
They’ve been messing up every single order for the last hour I’ve been waiting here. They forgot about my order trying to fix their mistakes and I swear they gave me the eggrolls someone returned because the box they gave me was broken and had missing eggrolls. They said 40 minutes took more like an hour and a half. Been coming for years I’m surprised they have it running like a McDonald’s now
Went to eat there apparently no plates given , you it in a to go styrofoam box that gets hot and releases chemicals , also no glasses cups with any drinks you are to buy water and drinks they state they remodeled and actually they just made more room for themselves no clutter but only 5 tables overall sucked but that is just my opinion / will not be returning
Good food, but the service is poor. Understaffed, they need at least one more server to properly service their customers. I have been here a few times and do not plan on returning.
Have gone here for years and food was always great and the little old lady behind the counter was so nice. Got takeout for the first time in quite a while and they’ve remodeled and only have like 3 small tables. The lady behind the counter was eating when I walked in to pick up my order. I understand prices going up lately but to food isn’t what it used to be, not bad just meh…
Food was ok. Had to place another order cause cashier didn't charge me. And when she brought me the food it wasn't what I ordered. I got a refund
Their service has always been subpar since I can remember. Their food was good, so the lack of customer service was tolerable. Today I orederd item Z, which consisted of chicken chowmein and sweet & sour chicken. The chowmein noodles lacked any real flavor and the small diced up barely there chicken strongly tasted of fish. Now I understand oyster sauce is common in Chinese America food but it was odd that the chicken had no chicken taste just fish. As for the sweet and sour it wasn't the way I preferred it to be prepared. Because the sauce was just poured over the chicken not tossed but that's more of a preference not a standard. All this to say the food lacked any good flavors. You can't have bad food and bad customer service.
do NOT pay in advance. They have a dumb system where they just ask for your area code so you can essentially just walk out with someone else’s order. Which is exactly what happened in our case. Who knew in 10 minutes they would forget what someone looks like. And then took another 20 minutes to prepare a new order. When I tried to check the order the woman gave us all the attitude. unfortunate that this is the only option for Chinese food in this area.

This place is soooo overpriced. We got two plates and two glasses of water for $38.00 including tax and tip. We have not paid anything near this amount elsewhere for the quality and quantity we got from this place. Plate #1... Sesame shrimp with unseasoned soggy noodles - $18.95. You can get the honey walnut shrimp with very tasty chowmein at Panda Express for half the price. Plate #2. Combination plate of sweet and very sour pork, a piece of fried roll which is more wrapper than filling, chow mein with pieces of pork and tons of cabbage, fried rice with nothing in it but soy sauce - $11.95. You can get a few different options of combination plates at Liu’s Village for $7-$8. Would rather drive all the way to Four Seasons in Clovis for dimsum and good food for reasonable prices.
Poor service. Took forever just to get water, waitress knew nothing about what was in the plates. After finally ordering it took forever to get the food. Like 35 min and others that came in after got their food first. Food was over cooked and cold. Worse part was after eating, seeing roaches. Instantly went to the restroom and threw up, where I ended up seeing more caked in the hinges of the door. I took pictures.
Well, 1 hour and half later got my food correct. Had to drive back to return the plate they mest up on and get the correct one . All that well
I ordered a combo plate The food was terrible I had fried rice it was mushy the noodles were hard and dry I could not and would not eat.
The food is completely overpriced. You can go to Panda Express down the street and get two, two entree with one side plus drinks for the price of one to go box of just half chowmein half Orange chicken from here. And expect at least a 30-45 minute wait even if they're empty. Will definitely not be going again.
Madera has few Chinese restaurants to choose from. I looked on this very site to advise for the place to go for this fine eating experience. I am very disappointed to say that the taste and food quality was very poor and not at all comparable to Mings here in Fresno as this site has represented. The pork tasted like it was not only burnt but was days old. Then to add an even bitter taste to the pallet, the menu stated the items we ordered were 7.00 for one and the other was 7.95. Which would have been a meal for two at less than 17 dollars. My fiancé came home and was in awe to tell me that he was charged 22 dollars and some change. Needless to say, if anyone is looking for authentic and standard Chinese food, this is not the place.
They older woman was rather rude. I guess they dont allow outside food or drinks. My son had a drink and she told him she had to hold it up at the counter. Who does that to a kid. Their food wasnt good. They should try and focus on getting the rice and chow mein and the basic stuff tasting better and they definitely need to work on customer service.
Been there this evening it was the most nastiest Chinese food We ever tasted...I wouldn't recommended this place to My worsest enemy. ...too pricie an as We were walking out from this place one of the cooks were soaking there foot in vegetables. How disgusting is that...We were speechless an left in a hurry...hoping We didn't vomit on the way home but We did end up with diarrhea. ..ugh It doesn't even deserve a one star but had to put one for my comments on this so called Chinese place. ..please don't go or You would end up with diarrhea. ..ugh
Food was okay but way too expensive. At that price, the food should have been exceptional great. Plate was about $14 and it wasn’t worth it. First time there and would never go back.
First and last time im ever coming back. Worse service ever and thats not even exaggerating. If i was able to give them no stars i would but since there is no option for that i had to give them one. Older lady is very rude and doesnt do anything to accommodate there guest. They are over priced and food dont taste all that great. I dont usually leave reviews but have to warn any one that tries to bring there buisness here to stay away. You have better options else where!
Since new owners took over there’s mushrooms in everything. For someone highly allergic it’s hard to trust they won’t pick it out. I can’t find a good Chinese restaurant local any more. Miss the old cook and owners.
First time trying out this place because iam from out of town.i was about to eat the pork friedrice I bought and as soon as I was about to start eating I get a egg shell and then a hair on my food had to throw it away I couldn't eat it I was wondering what I would find out next
Just NASTY,we went because we haven't been in awhile, they only serve in togo dishes . they only sell you bottles if water, so I'm not sure if they are strictly a togo Food was not the best !!!

AWWWWFUL ALL AROUND!!!!! FOOD USED TO BE 100% THE BEST IN THE 559. IT'S AWFUL NOW... ZEROOO FLAVOR....AND I MEAN ZERO. AND WHAT WERE THEY THINKING WITH THAT REMODELING JOB. ALSO IF I WANTED TO EAT OUT OF DISPOSABLE PLATES I WOULD HAVE GONE TO PANDA... WHICH AT THIS POINT PANDA IS A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER THAN CHINA KITCHEN NOW. IT'S SAD THAT MADERA LOST SUCH A GEM. R.I.P. TO MY FAVORITE SPOT, R.I.P. TO THE BEST EGG FOO YOUNG I'D EVER HAD. 😭
After 20+ years of coming here and new owners, this place has taken quite the downfall. They are being incredibly stingy on the meats and veggies. They barely put any veggies or meat. Being super stingy yest the prices are the same. They made the chicken chunks super small and put less veggies in. They are very generous on the noodles of course. The noodles were very slimy. To fool you and make you think you have enough on there, they spread all the meat and veggies evenly over the noodles or rice... Very disappointed.
Good used to be great, not anymore, pretty bland and not much meat anymore
We just recently moved to madera and love eating at Chinese restaurants compared to Panda Express. So we’ve eaten and tried many different plates and portions from other restaurants. All are usually the same with their serving portions on combos and sides. We ate here on a Sunday, didn’t look to busy when we walked in only 3 other tables but they were already eating. I just have to say ….. absolutely horrible. Everything about this place I don’t like. We waited 45 MINS for 2 small plates of food. We ordered a side of chow mein and fried rice…. Usually when you order a side they are enough for about 2-3 people at OTHER RESTAURANTS! This place? No. They have the smallest plates and don’t even fill them up. It’s a rip of for almost $14 that you can’t fill the plate let alone make us wait almost 45 mins for the smallest plates ever. What was even more annoying was that 2 other families came in after us and still got their food before and they ordered more than us? Make it make sense. At the 35 min mark I ask the lady if she can check on our order. She said “I don’t now where’s your order I’m busy with all the to go orders” like really? Talk about customer service. A simple “let me check on it for you” would’ve been a better response. We ready to walk out. If you want to try a place to eat GO SOME WHERE ELSE! I will never eat here again. I don’t even like Panda Express that much and it’s better than this place!!
CAUTION, UNSANITARY ESTABLISHMENT!!! We have eaten here before the food was always good. This time we had to have our table cleaned prior to ordering . I noticed all the food waste she wiped went to the floor :( We ordered and during our meal we witnessed the same server cleaning the adjacent table. The rag she was cleaning with fell to the FLOOR. She picked it up and continued cleaning the table and then tossed it over to another table that needed cleaning. This is last time we will eat here. I should have called the Health Department. Beware, you don't know what goes on behind closed doors.
