My husband and I enjoyed dinner and breakfast here when staying at the hotel. Dinner was excellent. We ordered a cheese board with only one cheese sample, the seasonal cheese. It was delicious. My husband and I both ordered lamb. He ordered his well done while mine was medium rare. They were made just as ordered. Breakfast was good. If I stay at this hotel again I will definitely eat here for dinner.
Went here due to a $10 off coupon in the City Tin. Service was quick and friendly. I got the green tomato open faced sandwich which was delicious. Also tried a bite of my boyfriends burger which was great too. Definitely planning on coming back here. Good food and not too expensive.
This is my first time trying Circ on a weekday. I was really impressed by the salad bar, which has much more than salad. The beef barely soup was amazing!! It was fresh made and had huge chunks of beef. Circ, which is part of the Concourse Hotel, is a relatively mid to upscale restaurant. The service is excellent, as is the food generally. Try the Sunday brunch, you won't be disappointed.
Went for salad bar at lunch and it was solid! Great fresh ingredients and plenty of variety, including pasta salads, fruit, soups and dessert
Circ did a wonderful job handling our group of 19 for brunch! Being seated in a separate room was perfect. Kudos to our server, Cae, who took care of us all on her own. The food was great as well - only shortly staggered coming out which is completely understandable. One person who is a hollandaise fanatic said her eggs benedict had the best hollandaise she's ever tasted! I would highly recommend Circ!
Ate breakfast from the buffet service, was amazing!! and very nice staff :)
During a recent stay at the Madison Concourse, we indulged in a delightful cocktail experience at Circ, conveniently situated just off the lobby. Embracing the local spirit, we couldn't resist the allure of the Wisconsin Old Fashioned. This classic drink was expertly crafted of Korbel brandy, a mix of cherry bark and vanilla bitters, orange, cherry, and soda, leaving a lasting impression I'm eager to recreate at home. Remarkably priced at only $10, it satisfied our curiosity in trying local flavors and offered great value for money. Cheers to Circ for a memorable libation experience!
We were the only ones in the place! Goldie was a great waitress! She put up with our stupidity 🤣 great food!
Great breakfast at the hotel. Bottomless mimosas and breakfast potatoes were amazing.
We went here for lunch on Thanksgiving. It was amazing! I had smoked salmon. Also, I had a fall salad from the buffet line, and some desserts. Those were the highlights, although it was all good!
I have never stayed at the hotel. This is probably my third favorite breakfast spot in Madison. They have a good eggs benedict as well as a buffet. Something for everyone!
Me and my crew went for weekend brunch and that breakfast was delicious. The staff were friendly and it was overall a great experience. We werent too close to other people and it wasnt crowded either. Would go again!
The breakfast buffet is a wonderland of bacon and happiness. There's fruit too. And the staff are very pleasant, our server even joked around with us. Excellent place, would recommend
The salad bar really lives up to its reputation. Great variety of options. The desserts and soups and breads are all top notch as well. Great deal for 13 bucks.
Fantastic place for a salad bar buffet for lunch. Includes great selection of salad toppings, soup and dessert items.
The garden eggs Benedict was done just right. The service was great and the music perfect. Overall a great breakfast experience.
The food at this hotel-restaurant is out of this world. The prices are reasonable. The place looks beautiful and classy. So convenient, because it is part of the hotel. I highly recommend it.
Took my daughter who is a swimmer. A wonderful selection including various proteins. The salad bar was fresh and beautifully presented. My daughter really appreciated the lentil soup, edamame and red beans for the salad, lemon orzo salad and bean salads. It was a swimmers happy place.
Brunch was excellent. I ordered Garden Benedict & asked for scrambled eggs vs. poached eggs & was pleased with the staff flexibility & great taste. The mixed greens as a side were fresh & tasty & a great complement to the Garden Benedict.
Fantastic food and extremely friendly staff. I went there as part of a corporate dinner so there were lots of people with lots of different dietary needs, wants, restrictions, etc. The staff were wonderful at helping everyone walk through their needs and get what they wanted that would fit their diet. And the food was phenomenal. I had the hangar steak done medium rare, highly recommended. The appetizers and charcuterie are all also extremely highly recommended.
Good little lunch buffet, and they also do taco tuesdays. Cook is super friendly. Service can be a touch slow.
It wasn't very busy when we went, but they did a great job accommodating our large party without a reservation. The food was all excellent, though if you have a nut allergy know that they are used extensively on the menu. The atmosphere is pleasant, and our servers were very good.
We had the wonderful breakfast buffet this morning and it was so special! So many choices of very well made food and a french toast made out of a homemade donut was to die for. The service was also exceptional. Very personable and kind. I would choose this place to start my day, every day.
Best salad bar in town! Fresh, healthy options. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Pasta and lentil salads, fresh fruit and smoked salmon, various types of soups and desserts. I was stuffed for the next 12 hours. Highly recommend this place for lunch!
Best salad bar in town. Delicious soups and a good mix of conventional salad items as well as special salads, local cheese, fruits and desserts. Sandwiches are very good also. Fast friendly service (perfect for that work lunch). Everything clean, fresh, farm to table.
Went to CIRC for Valentines Day dinner. Had the special 3 course dinner. Everything was excellent, well prepared and creatively imagined. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. Courses came out in just the right timing, allowing us to linger over each course but not left waiting for the next. A very enjoyable special date experience.
Breakfast was fantastic! From service to speed, taste and quality. Our server, Cae, was excellent -the perfect compliment to our meal!
Everything tasted wonderful, but the potato black pepper gnocchi was extraordinary! Try it! You won't be disappointed. Terrific staff. Definitely one of, if not the best meal I've had in Madison.
The lunch buffet is worth every penny. I think it's $13 for all you can eat of salads and cheeses and smoed fish. Super healthy and light but you'll definitely get your fill. Also, all you can eat desserts with the lunch buffet and they're all tasty!
Went for lunch on a Friday. Beautiful hotel and great menu. Classic grilled cheese and tomato soup. Amazing turkey pesto panini, but I love the salad bar. So many options. Fruit. Usually a sandwich and other pasta or potato salad. Charcuterie options. 3 soups. And several dessert options. Definitely a must-experience lunch option!
Good food, reasonable price. Wheelchair accessible, bathrooms are accessible. Great Eggs Benedict. Gluten Free bread.
We enjoyed an overnight in the Governor's in the Concourse Hotel. CIRC was convenient so we enjoyed Friday night dinner at the restaurant. CIRC is attached to the hotel through the lobby so no going outside. The restaurant was very quiet and the server noted he only had one other table that day. I was a bit apprehensive however he and the other team members treated us very well. They took photos of our group afterwards and the food was very creative and good. I'd definitely return. I think the ambiance was stereotypical of a hotel restaurant with a closed buffet over the wall that likely serves breakfast. For our service and food it is too bad this place does not have more attendees as likely mostly hotel patrons. As a stand alone restaurant I give it a 4 and as an attached hotel restaurant a 5. I'm giving a 4 because we would not visit specifically without returning to the Concourse which is too bad but just so many other stand alone restaurants in Madison. For visitors to the Concourse, stay in your hotel and enjoy a nice dinner!
Went looking for a new place to eat, and since it was similar to another restaurant relatively nearby I decided to check out their cuisine. Ordered the breakfast sammy with breakfast potatoes and a coffee. The waiter was extremely polite and the food delicious, I would definitely consider coming here again.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Braised short rib was delicious.
I have only eaten their lunch buffet here and their selection is not bad. If you like salads and cold pasta type meals for lunch, this is your spot. There are additional items on the menu to be explored as well
Really good. I went here as part of a convention so they did breakfast and lunch buffets with were both well stocked and really good. I have a very minor nitpick that there was almost no variety between the days I was here but it's not really a problem. Overall the food never disappoints and is worth the money
Food was good, nothing amazing. It took longer than I would have liked to come out.
Could not get in to eat there even though there was empty seats. They were reserved they said and we should if made a reservation. We didn't even know we were being transferred to that hotel from the one we had, because the room we had reservations for were not done being remodeled. We had a hour drive, had our luggage and car valet. Stood in line for a while and they said they could find us in the reservations after a 10 more min. They said we had been transferred to this place. It was not very organized or very friendly for the Event we were there for.
Very much a hotel restaurant, don't expect to be blown away by the menu. On first sight the menu looked quite tasty, but our proteins were both overcooked, and the rest of the dishes just lacked some punch. There are just too many other good restaurants downtown Madison to justify a trip back
The price of the food was not worth the quality. Steaks came out not prepared correctly and the cuts were not good. It also is a difficult atmosphere as the tables are close together and share a bench seat on one side not allowing for much privacy during conversations.
Stopped in for dinner during Winter Restaurant Week. There was one other table of people in the entire place. This should have been a red flag as MRW is always busy. I ordered the Seafood Chowder, which tasted ok but was a really odd looking brown/grey color. My partner had the pear salad, which he did not enjoy. It was very bitter. Main course didn't have a lot of flavor and arrived cold. My toffee pudding for dessert was the size of an Oreo. It was tasty, but certainly nothing fantastic. There are lot of other places to try for MRW, and lots of other places near the square. Try those instead.
Food was good, but the service wasn't. We ordered bottomless mimosas and after the first couple our server avoided our table at all costs. We literally saw him head towards our table and then turn around. They really shouldn't advertise bottomless mimosas if there staff isn't capable of providing that service.
Skip this place. There are a dozen phenomenal restaurants within five blocks that will deliver a better experience for less money. We ordered 2 appetizers plus entrees, spent over $100, and we left hungry. They had a wedding party in the next room, but the dining room was less than half full. It took an hour to get our appetizers, and another 30 minutes to get our entrees. The signature cocktail I ordered must have been the signature of a five year old. Don't be fooled by the facade, this is a mediocre hotel restaurant. There are much better options available close by.
Here on a business trip with more than 6 people. The host said parties of 6 or more has to be one check. Being inside a hotel close to a huge corporation that brings in thousands of people daily, you would think they can split checks. We had to walk away because they wouldn’t split.
You know what the best part about eating out is? It's the experience, mostly colored by the staff you come in contact with. My favorite part about the salad bar at Circ is that it comes with a smile; the older gentleman (a member of the kitchen staff) who keeps the area clean and replenishes the items actually says hello, smiles, and thanks you for coming; I've never seen anything like it at a salad bar before. He makes everything tastes better. Often times there's no one at the host desk to seat you, but we've sat down before, and were soon spotted and welcomed. Today, alas, the cranky young waitress took exception to us not waiting [even] longer, and made it a point to yell "next time wait to be seated" loudly enough for someone on the 3rd floor to hear. She didn't like it when I replied that next time someone should be available to seat us: "Oh, Okay," she scoffed, and walked away. It's not even what she said, honestly (it wasn't that terrible), but the condescending, contemptuous tone, as if she were chastising unruly children, ruined the experience. I have food at home, and it doesn't come with an attitude. Clearly whoever hires and trains the staff needs to pay a little more attention to detail, and so should their boss, right up to the General Manager. One kind, always smiling gentleman built the Circ brand brick by brick, and one thoroughly unpleasant waitress razed it to the ground in one fell swoop. It's a crying shame. We'll gladly take our money elsewhere, and I'll use this example in my seminars on customer service because it's a textbook case of how not to handle customers (even those who commit the crime of not waiting long enough to be seated.)
We reserved a table at this place because we wanted to near the Overture Center to attend a concert and all other places were full. That should have been our first clue. The place was nearly empty when we arrived at 5:30 and it pretty much stayed that way through the dinner hour. Service was slow; it took nearly 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive after ordering them. My Manhattan was adequate but my wife's chardonnay was rough and clearly a very low end wine. We both ordered the pork chop meal. The meat was tough and tasteless. We were given only table knives to cut the meat. We hacked away at our meal with only marginal success. I'm not sure why a restaurant in this part of town and with fairly high prices would be so bad but it is. The low number of diners tells the story.
I booked a room at the Concourse Hotel in early December and had a great experience (beautiful and clean facilities) and with all reason I was expecting the same quality from their restaurant. I was looking forward to having breakfast the next morning so before checking out I visited the restaurant and requested to have the breakfast buffet option. I was so dissapointed! there was absolutely no variety in the "cold" section, server forgot my coffee and the warm options I got were decent enough. We paid $30 plus tip and it was definitely not worth it. I even thought to myself we could've gone to Brunch Club and have gotten better service and food for the same (or less) amount of money. Definitely needs improvement, especially being within the amazing Concourse Hotel!
I took my boss for breakfast after seeing the menu. We were sat at our table THEN told they are only having a buffet breakfast that would be $15.00 not the menu items i had reviewed prior to booking. We got coffee, chatted, and walked up to the buffet only to find oatmeal, eggs, bacon, and fruit!! I was mortified! Literally NOTHING to eat. I would have had better luck at a Holiday Inn. Never go here!!
The hostess of this restaurant on February 15th made the four of us feel completely inadequate for being there. When we walked up to her, she looked us up and down a few times and said in a snippy voice: “Can I.......help you guys?” Looking at the 25 empty tables it looked very likely that we would be seated immediately. I politely asked if there was room for the 4 of us to eat. The hostess said that the tables were all booked and the earliest we could be seated was at 8:30 (3 hours later). I mentioned all of the vacant tables and she said that she was expecting everyone to come in at once. At that point, we knew she felt we did not belong and went to spend our fortunes elsewhere.
We visited the restaurant with friends and were so excited to check out Circ because we heard it was a fun spot. My husband and I really enjoy unique dining experiences and we make an effort to eat out at these type of locations often. We have a very good grasp of what the Madison restaurant scene offers. Circ was beyond disappointing. We arrived for our reservation for 6 people at 6:30pm. When we arrived there were only two other table seated in the entire restaurant. When we were seated we waiting close to 20 minutes before our server greeted us and took our drink order. I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered a beer. There was only one other cocktail ordered at our table otherwise the rest were waters. from the time I ordered my drink did not show up for over an hour and 45 minutes. Multiple times we talked to the server who told us the bar was backed up and to the manager who stuck to the same script. Our food did not show up for 1 hour and 35 minutes after we ordered. The ironic part about their false story was that tables around us were served cocktails and the same entrees some of us ordered. As our food landed it was cold and so late that our group was outraged. We decided to leave the restaurant and as we stood up my cocktail arrived. IT was so frustrating. THe manager on staff brought us a bottle of wine but we still waited another 50 minutes for cocktails. He was not apologetic or helpful when we pulled him aside 3-4 different times to ask about the same thing. The experience was a nightmare. I would discourage any restaurant lovers from visiting. You will be disappointed. IT was shocking how little they did to resolve the entire situation.
