Had a great experience at Dave’s Hot Chicken! The chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious—crispy and juicy. But what really stood out was the service. Jolene greeted us with a big smile and walked us through the menu like a pro. Super friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home. She really went above and beyond. Will definitely be back

Vanessa was our cashier today and my friend had not been there before and Vanessa was very helpful in answering her questions about the heat ratings. OH MY WORD, I tried the Dave's Not Chicken. I LOVE IT! If you like chicken, you have to try Dave's Hot Chicken! You can get it at any heat or no heat at all. It is to your liking, it is not all hot. Plus the Prices are amazing, the staff is really nice and the restaurant is really cool, very neat artwork. Have a great day!

I’m from Sacramento and am staying in SLO on vacation with my family. The Daves I went to in Sac was no where near as good as this one. Some of the best hot chicken I have had. The staff here are killing it to make a whole family sized order of food as good as it was and I highly recommend stopping by to try some of the food here. 4.9/5.

The chicken tenders are delicious! I tried the medium heat. I thought switch the fries for kale slaw it was so bland no flavor at all it was a big disappointment since I gave up fries for 😳 🥗

5 Stars – Fire Chicken, Cool Vibes Stopped by Dave’s Hot Chicken in SLO and grabbed the #3 combo – slider with cheese and a tender, both medium heat. Super solid. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and the spice level was just right — enough to feel it but still enjoy every bite. The cheese on the slider hit different, and the whole combo just worked. Staff was cool, place was clean, and the food came out quick even with a crowd. Definitely coming back. This spot’s legit.

I got lunch slightly early today and wanted to try Dave’s Hot Chicken, I want to say thank you to the cashier who took my order, Ruth, she was really nice and brightened up my day :) I got my food quickly it was hot, tasty, and well prepared.

It was my first time at Dave’s and Vanessa admittedly gave me a run down on the whole menu and was so kind! I personally don’t like spicy so I love that they have a “no spice” option. I love crispy chicken but don’t like a lot of grease so this was perfect! Will 10/10 come again.

First, service was excellent. We barely got in the door when we were greeted by Vanessa’s big smile. She made sure we didn’t need anything else when our order came and later came by to ask how the food was. She made us feel like valued customers. Second, as a vegetarian the cauliflower “not-chicken” was delicious.

Miranda was very kind & helpful as our cashier. Great food & cool atmosphere. The GM even came over to chat with us.

I went to Dave’s Hot Chicken earlier this afternoon the food was absolutely delicious I ordered a slider combo with the fries and I was devouring every single bite their fries are amazingly seasoned and have so much flavor. The cashier which took my order greeted me with a smile, her name was Ruth, it was a warm day today so I asked her what milkshake she recommended me and she told me the Oreo one was one of their top selling items, IT WAS EXTREMELY DELICIOUS AND CREAMY!!! I dined inside the restaurant, it was nice and cool with AC, the tables are nicely spread apart so you don’t have to worry about listening to other customers and Ruth came up to my table and asked how everything was now THAT is what you call great service, you don’t have employees coming up to your tables in other dining places. I would like to thank Ruth for her amazing service… I WILL DEFINITELY be coming back soon.

My partner and I came in after a long day of driving and wanted to get a meal. We were low on money at the time after paying some bills and thought we could afford a meal for two. After my card declined we both walked out to discuss what we were going to take off the order. Then the lovely cashier came out and told us that she paid for the leftover charge for the meal. She was so sweat and caring. We plan to go back next weekend after we get our paychecks to give her the biggest tip. One act of kindness made our whole week.

Taste is phenomenal. Service is great; I forgot I ordered a drink, and the employee double-checked that I had gotten my drink which reminded me.

Even at 11:30, Sal was upbeat, kind to everyone, and smiling. I didn't feel turned away; instead, I felt welcomed even so late into the night. The food came out fast, too, props to those guys in the back! I will be coming by again.

Dave’s in SLO is where you want to be on a weekend night with the munchies after a show. The folks are friendly, the food is fresh, and the art is worth a sandwich. My new friends from the staff, Elizabeth and Miranda, remembered my name. I like that, you might meet a friend there too!

Dave’s is always peak and this location is no exception. But this location has the new boneless wings and I tried the buffalo flavor. Perfect spice level, great ranch, not too soggy, and huge portion for the price. Doesn’t top their sandwiches but a great menu addition nonetheless. Some of the best boneless wings around too. Hope they come to more locations!

One of the best chicken restaurants/fast food in the industry. Our family loves Canes and Chick-fil-A and we all agreed this was the best. I went with two piece without fries (mild and wished it was spicy). Chicken was tender and juicy. The texture, outside coating/batter, and temp was perfect. Lastly, if you think Thomas Keller’s chicken is the best, you might change your mind after having Dave’s. The chefs learned from Thomas and took it to the next level!!

Please don't let the bad reviews stop you from checking out this chicken joint. We showed up about 330 on a Thursday and it wasn't busy. The food was cooked quickly and presentation is 10/10. Our cashier was friendly and asked every customer if they needed anything when picking up their order. I read others saying the chicken was salty but l think that varies between everyone's tastebuds. I had the mild flavor and it was tasty and salt didn't overpower the flavor. My husband had hot and medium and he preferred hot. The slaw has a great taste! The pickles taste kosher and perfect crunch. The dipping sauce has a yummy tang to it. Also can't beat smaller cubed ice shapes! We will definitely be back. Come check it out and be kind. They are killing it.

It's no harder to choose a shake flavor unless you can't decide what to pick. Now the Napoleon shake is an alternative. Don’t worry and be happy with the shake Napoleon as it conquered them all. Especially the lucky charms on toppings. It is my husband’s favorite as it is special. This milkshake flavor is something you cannot get at other places.

I’ve had a few experiences with hot chicken sandwiches that led me to spending a painful evening in the restroom, a cramping stomach, or both. I did not wish to risk ruining Valentine’s Day. Therefore I ordered the second hottest sandwich and please allow me to say that it was fantastic. It was hot, but the heat didn’t overwhelm the flavor, which is the case at a lot of hot chicken establishments. My favorite local hot chicken has never had a contender battle it for my opinionated first place position… until now. The chicken was crispy and moist with a delicious breading. Dave’s sauce is amazing. They have a unique kale-slaw that I was skeptical about, and happy to be wrong about. Did I mention pickles? Not only do you get pickles, but a lot of pickle chips! Their fries are really good as well. My wife is not a fan of spice, so she ordered hers plain and loved it. We ordered the rugrats some chicken bits. When they say bits, they mean bits, not nuggets. The staff was incredibly friendly, especially Jolene! I haven’t had such pleasant service since I was vacationing in the south. She was sincerely friendly, professional, and hustled! There were more than ten patrons in line before us and it didn’t take more than five minutes before we ordered. And the food came FAST. There is ample seating inside and outside. They have a second dining room indoors and have a ton of outdoor space as well. You’ll need a code for the restroom, but that’s not really a big deal. Can’t wait to go back and sign the waiver and face the wrath of the hottest sandwich next time. But until then, I will dream of hot chicken, delicious pickles, kale, and a mascot that resembles WWE’s Sheamus!

First time going. Tried the mild chicken sliders good. Next time, my try the hotter ones overall, i'm a good experience

Out of towner review: Delicious hot chicken. I’m a bit of a spicy chicken nut and Dave’s slapped. Staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable. Two major issues I experienced that forced my hand to give four stars: 1. The food took 20 minutes to receive. I was a walk in and to go order. Not a ton of people in front of me. Food took way too long to receive. 2. I ordered a two slider meal, Reaper and Mild. They swapped the two, had them in the wrong boxes. If somebody didnt like spice and experienced that, they would not be in good shape. That is a liability issue too. Overall, I would 100% go back to Dave’s Hot Chicken. Enjoy!

The chicken is awesome! It's tender, juicy, and the spice blend is crazy good! If you like your chicken crispy, I would recommend dining-in, because it doesn't travel well.

Miranda at the location in SLO at Madonna Plaza was a total rock star! I ordered online and got there 5 mins. before closing and when I got there she was struggling with the milkshake machine, that had just filled my cup halfway and then quit working. She said it had been turning itself on and off all day, but that there was no one there who had the ability to take it off the on-line ordering app. But she was so accommodating! And stayed super calm and pleasant throughout our interaction. And all this even though I had already paid and it was now just a minute or 2 before closing! She kept trying to get the thing to work, but it wouldn't, so she offered me a couple of different options. I picked the option of filling the half-full milkshake cup with vanilla soft serve, and then she went to the trouble of trying to mix the 2 flavors with the wand of the malfunctioning milkshake machine. I so totally appreciated all her help, so late in the day, even though I'd already paid and there was no way to leave a tip. I love people like Miranda, who go the extra mile to help, even though there's no extra money involved. Such a lovely young lady! I've been super impressed with the customer service at this Dave's Hot Chicken location - it's been consistently above and beyond! I always notice these things after spending years in food service myself. And I totally appreciate that I'm not asked to tip at Dave's! It drives me crazy that everyone everywhere asks for tips these days. Table service with an actual server gets tips - generally speaking I don't want to tip anyone doing less than that. Food prices are already so high, and everyone's struggling, so I truly appreciate that Dave's provides excellent customer service without being asked to pay extra for it. Thank you Dave's! And especially thank you Miranda! And congratulations Dave's, for having an employee like Miranda!

Dinner was excellent! Chicken was spiced perfectly and so juicy. The mini sliders are great for the kids. Also, the pickle slices are a generous portion and so crunchy. Thank you for another awesome dinner. It also cannot be ignored that this location with the ample free parking is great.

I wanted to like them more after seeing their fun atmosphere and the origin story printed out by the soda machine. The mac-n-cheese was like cooked elbow noodles with a cheese sauce poured on top-more cafeteria like to me, but at least not kids kraft mac-n-cheese. The chicken itself would have tasted pretty amazing were it not for the thick coating of spice on the outside. It was like it was fried and then dipped back in the spice rub? It was overpowering and the bread from the slider helped to disguise it somewhat especially of you dip it in the sauce. The excess spice was too much for the chicken to spice ratio.

It was ok. The reaper was not very spicy neither was the extra hot. We’ve tried the location in Indio CA as well as one in LA. Both locations were awesome! Just seemed very light on the heat. They even make sure you sign the reaper waiver. For us no waver should have been required. Overall the restaurant was nice inside and out. We’ll try again in a few. Give them time get the spice down.

Absolutely no flavor. Mediocre at best. The breading on the chicken was the only decent part.

Saw the manager yelling at employees in the back, I work in with emergency services and it sounded not unlike some of the domestic incidents I’ve been called to. Not what I would expect at a restaurant. Food was fine, but interrupted my dining experience.
