Great restaurant with a friendly staff and delicious food! Smokeyard is family friendly and had a great selection of drinks and food in their Happy Hour menu. Our family will definitely return to dine here while in Mammoth.
On a Friday, when other restaurants were fully booked, we visited this place recommended by our hotel as a first-come, first-served establishment. We arrived around 5 PM and were seated immediately, but by 6 PM, it was packed. I was surprised by the generous amount of BBQ chip seasoning, but it was incredibly tasty! The baby back ribs were very tender, and the kids were very happy with the pasta and chicken tenders from the children's menu.
Had the most incredible beyond burger here post-backpacking trip!! It had fried onions and mushrooms on it, and the fries were perfection. Would highly recommend for a meal after a big adventure! And loved the outdoor seating options, too.

Joined for dinner during the Mammoth Reggae Festival and had a great experience. Excellent service and food tasted great. Was in the mood to try something new and absolutely loved the Potjiekos…a meat stew from South Africa. Really delicious blend of spices without making it spicy (I can’t handle spicy). Highly recommend.
This is a great BBQ place. We all had the 1/2 chicken and it was delicious! So moist and tender. Great flavor too! It was a large 1/2 chicken and I could only eat half of it and brought the rest home for lunch. Smoke house BBQ sauce was great!! Service was excellent and we were served soon after ordering!! I would say pricing is what you would expect for a Mountain Village restaurant and restaurant prices in general are higher everywhete. The value is good! My husband and son really loved the cornbread and it looks like a serving for two. Gluten sensitive items are marked.
Every time I dine here I love the staff. Friendly, happy and great atmosphere - the best in town. Cozy, laid back and comforting. Started with the mussels and smoked wings and wanted to order more. The surf and turf was too good. Highly recommend.
Of all the places in the Village, Smokeyard remains our go to. The food is good (not great) but the reason this place consistently gets our regular business is the bar staff. This is one of the few places in the village where the bartenders have decent tenure and they actually seem to care about customer relationships. Sharde and Jade consistently have great attitudes and pour great drinks. We always eat in the bar because the bartender crew keeps it upbeat and fun and they care about giving great service, unlike most village restaurant staff. Solid.
Food was great. Ribeye and loaded Mac & cheese. Service was a little slow but in fairness the place was packed
Absolutely delighted bbq pulled pork sandwich. Red wine is great. Pazookie cookie dessert with ice cream is a must. I highly recommend this place. Will be returning.

Wow! Our dinner was delicious! Started with the cornbread which was out of this world. Our whole table of 9 was in love with this place plus we had one of the best waitresses named Mary. She was attentive, kind, and always expecting your needs. What a great experience! Thank you to the entire team and especially the chef! So good!!
Fall off the bone ribs and chicken, in the village? Yes! We came here twice for dinner. The first time we split the tri-tip sandwich, with fries and cornbread. The second time we split the bbq sampler (ribs, tri-tip and 1/4 chicken), with bbq chips and Mac n cheese. Everything we had except the Mac and cheese was a delight to our palette. Now I’m not saying the mac n cheese was bad at all, it was just somewhat average. Could definitely use a more flavorful cheese sauce. The portion sizes were generous, but so be prepared to pay up, it’s a sit-down dining place inside the village, so the prices are a little on the high side. The bbq sauce was great, it tasted to us like it was heavy on the vinegar side. So if you don’t like that style sauce, it might not be for you. The tri-tip was great. The fries were nicely cooked. The cornbread had us going “wow”. And we were pleasantly surprised to find real corn kernels in the cornbread. As for the rubs, and the chicken, in both cases, the meat just fell right off the bone, perfectly cooked. And the bbq chips were great, we asked for extra bbq sauce, both for the meat and to dip the chips in.

Food was great (wings and tri-tips), happy hour prices were fantastic, drinks were mediocre, our bartender (Jess) was inattentive and not helpful. She just didn’t seem interested in waiting on us or the other two people at the bar.
Great staff, very attentive. The ambience is nice. The food is Ok, nothing special. The ribs too spicy and too much sauce, but overall OK for a regular dinner
The food was acceptable but not notable in any way. And the wine pour was insulting. Maybe 4 sips and that “glass” of wine was gone. See photo below. How stingey!!

Was very excited to try the food at this place after hearing good things about it, it was a busy night so had a wait but still got sat in a decent time for a busy night. Our server was Denise and we were not given menus or enough silverware and water when sat. We ordered our drinks before receiving the food menus, when we ordered our food, they only brought out three of our meals and were told the filet mignon was ran to the wrong table and were asked if we still wanted to have it or not eat, the filet came out 15 minutes later, and there was no compensation besides taking off the cornbread we never received. The food was good but with the poor service and lack of consideration to take care of the issues with our service, was not the experience we were hoping for.
The food and ambiance was actually really good. The prices of food are insane. $22 for a pulled pork sandwich, $35 for three strips of meat. Sadly, it's probably some of the best tasting food we've had so far. If you are visiting Mammoth, you may as well go to the grocery store and cook for yourself. That will still be insanely expensive, but more like what restaurant prices used to be.

The tri tip sandwich was very mediocre, they put lettuce on the sandwich which does not go well with a BBQ sandwich. The garlic mashed barely has any flavor, the mozzarella sticks are OK but nothing great. The pulled pork is good but the baked Mac n cheese is not good. The rib and rice bowl is not good. The ribs fell off the bone but the meat was tough and the rice is not good.
10 oz tri tip - very thin and a lot of fat We paid an additional 13 dollars for the chicken breast - I was so disappointed that it was a boneless chicken patty you see on a fast food sandwich. My son ordered a pulled pork sandwich, and that did look good. We got our plate, and It took them an additional 15 minutes to get the sandwich to him. The mac n cheese with jalapenos was good. Cocktails were okay, nothing special. This place is overpriced for the quality of the food.
It was a pretty slow Tuesday evening, we had a party of three. We noticed one of our two tables was not stable, it rocked back and forth quite a bit. After our drinks were served The expensive martini spilled a little bit onto the wobbly table. Our server Jadyn saw the drink spill. We asked her to make up for the spilled portion by topping it off for us. We also fixed the table with a napkin ourselves. For an expensive establishment this shouldn't even be an issue. Our server ask if we were being serious and we confirmed. That's when things went downhill. The food is pretty mediocre yet expensive. The mac and cheese had no flavor and did not taste like cheese but more like cream. The worst part is we were pretty much neglected and ignored for the rest of the evening. We probably would have ordered three more alcoholic drinks had we been approached. We did end up getting our top off later, with an unpleasant vibe. My effort is to help management improve their operations.

If you appreciate smoked meet, this place is not worth your visit. I had BBQ ribs, but was offered a rack of flavoreless boiled ribs, so mushy it was impossible to eat by hand. Covered with sweet sauce to try to hide the true identity of the ribs. A big disappointment for a place calling itself a BBQ house.
We walked in and ordered food to go from this place. We had to wait for 50 min for them to finish preparing what should have been a very basic meal(see a few pictures below), despite the restaurant not being crowded at all at that time. Additionally, we were a group of three, but they only provided us with two sets of forks and knives
Absolutely awful experience at Smokeyard Mammoth Lakes. First night in Mammoth with a large group and we decided to do pickup instead of going out. We placed a $500+ order. When we arrived, the order wasn’t ready. Totally fine — it was busy and we were patient. While waiting, I politely asked the young guy at the front to please make sure ketchup was included and that the ranch we paid for was packed correctly. He said “okay.” When he finally said the order was ready, I calmly asked if we could quickly go over the order together to make sure everything was there since it was a huge order, freezing outside, and a long walk back. His response was to dump all the bags on the counter and walk away, saying: “I’m gonna leave it here and you guys can check it if you want.” Unbelievably rude for a $500 order. We checked outside and — surprise — no ketchup at all. When my friend went back in, the same front host handed him ONE single ketchup packet, which honestly felt intentional. Only after being called out did he hand over more. When we got back to our Airbnb, it was clear the problems didn’t stop there. We ordered three orders of chicken fingers, which clearly state three fingers per order. Every order had only two. That’s not a small mistake — that’s charging for food you don’t receive. On top of that, the cheese sticks were cold and rock hard, completely inedible. In fact, the only thing that was warm were the ribs. It honestly felt like they made all the fried food first, let it sit forever, and then finished the ribs last — which makes zero sense for a pickup order. So not only was the service terrible, but the food itself was mediocre at best — especially for the insane prices they charge. This place managed to ruin our first night in Mammoth. Management needs to seriously look into staff training, food quality control, and how pickup orders are handled. Overpriced, poorly managed, and absolutely not worth it.
As a bbq fan this was a sad excuse for bbq cuisine. When my meal arrived I was hungry and excited to enjoy some tri tip. I was let down when I tasted the meat and realized it tasted and smelled like liquid smoke. I then noticed the restaurant did not smell like a Bbq joint and I couldn’t even see a smoker I . I do not believe there is a smoker on site. The fries were the best part. I would skip this restaurant if you enjoy bbq and have any respect for southern bbq.
Probably the worst restaurant in Mammoth. Servers could care less about their customers. They are more interested in IG and TikTok while seated customers at bar are waiting to order a drink. The food was weak. I have had a better steak at cheap chain restaurants in LA. Lastly, they screw you on pricing. You can about 30% to 50% more than you would for better food down south. Avoid this place.
Wow is this place bad. Terrible BBQ and dry meat. Apps tasted like something warmed up from Big Box store. Slow and bad attitude staff. Particularly the bar. Drinks were OK when you could get their attention. All that and over $100 a person. We should have just cooked at the condo. We do not recommend this place. Sad because years ago I remember it being OK.
Food is absolute trash. 2 out of our party of 4 got violent food poisoning, wings were overcooked, cornbread was desert dry, both people who ate the filet got food poisoning. Total cost was $400 plus tip and a lost weekend for half of our party. We had a similar experience the year before. Stay far away unless you have a ton of charman toilet paper and don’t plan on being more than 20 feet from the bathroom.
We made reservations to have our New Year's dinner there, was $155 per person, service was bad, food was horrible and for 3 people we ended up paying $640 ish !!! What a scam and waste of money. Honestly if you go to Mammoth do not go there. So disappointed. Really horrible
service and food were both pretty terrible, and we still spent a pretty buck. around $50 per person just to go home and throw it all up. someone call the health department for real.
when we got home 3 people had DIARRHEA and 1 THREW UP endlessly. seriously questioning the hygiene and integrity of this restaurant 🤢🤮. we ordered ribs and tri tip. server was nowhere to be found 80% of the time. don’t go here unless you want a bad meal and an upset stomach
