We had a great time at this Manhattan Beach establishment. Super cool patio that was dog friendly. There was a larger party of about 12 of us which they kindly accommodated. Enjoyed Clam Chowder, Crudo and spicy shrimp. All delicious and I’ll be back!
Hook & Plow has a great menu that appeals to almost everyone and all the locations have awesome staff and service. The sandwiches and burgers are always popular and their raw bar elevates the menu. The steak sandwich is so tender and flavorful and the burgers are equally delicious. The lobster roll is loaded and super tender.. really good quality. The salads are very popular and can be ordered with yummy salmon that makes for a healthy low carb meal option. They also have lunch combinations which are a great value and don't forget about happy hour!
Super cute beachy decor! Seafood tower was great! Dubai Chocolate Dessert was not our favorite which was the only thing that we didn’t care for. It was too dense.
The seafood here rivals FWD. So fresh and delicious. I loved the ceviche in the seafood platter and the clam chowder (smoky, spicy with bits of bacon). Had the steak sandwich and furikake fries which were both perfectly done. Also, the place is beautifully built out. Hello outdoor seating which we need more of in Manhattan Beach. We also were lucky enough to get a fire pit table!
My new Fav MB spot! I’ve made it my new regular lunch spot for weekday meetings. After about a dozen visits, I’ve tried most of the menu and was impressed by almost everything. I love ceviche and crab cakes and fries. The clam chowder is so good that my Boston friend insisted on personally thanking the cheff (I guess Bostonians take the chowder seriously…). I also the like lunch boards which allow you try a few items without being overwhelmed by too much food. The restaurant is new and is perfectly, decorated and designed for an airy and sunny beach vibe. The front third of the restaurant provides outdoor dining for sunny afternoons, with plenty of heaters to keep away the evening chills.
Great addition to Manhattan beach. We had the seafood platter, prime steak sandwich, striped sea bass and lobster roll. All the food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommend. We need more restaurants with outdoor open air seating.
Excellent service, great experience overall. Lobster roll was amazing!!!
Food excellent. Service outstanding. Ambience, beautiful. We sat at the fire pit table and started with the seafood platter that was amazingly fresh. The oysters were pre-dressed and needed nothing else. The tuna crudo was one of the best I’ve ever had. The lobster roll was packed!
Allie, was above and beyond with her customer service and very proffesional. I ordered the Tomahawk Steak and Jose cooked that thing to perfection. Food was Delicious and presentation was Amazing.

The oysters were really good and the H&P Benedict was spectacular
Great spot to grab a bite and drink and watch the sunset. Happy hour is great and Thursday smashburger and beer was good quality and an excellent price
I took my sister from Australia out for her birthday. We came across this place randomly. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They helped me celebrate my sister's birthday with a desert and candle and they saying happy birthday. My sister is a vegetarian. They totally accommodated her. The food was excellent very very good. Thank you for looking after us we very much appreciate it.
We flew in from Australia and headed to manhattan beach.. walked in to super friendly staff with great service and recommendations! Lobster roll and tomahawk were elite 🙌🏼 staff treated our son amazingly for his 21st. We will be back!

Brought a group of 5 adults and a child and everyone had a great time and a great meal. Service was impeccable and great recommendations from our server. Options for pescatarians and gluten free. Scallops were perfectly prepared. Highly recommend the Apple crumble cheesecake.
Everything was great overall, but the servers didn’t come back to check if we needed anything after bringing the food, so we had to call them over each time, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, the salmon in the seafood taco was too dry, so I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped.
I didn’t realize there The Hook & Plow had a location in Manhattan Beach! Very nice spot and I like the layout more compared to the Hermosa Beach location. Service was friendly and gave us hot water after our open water swim. They also have a cool seating area out front with a fireplace. Definitely will keep that in mind when fall comes around next. I got their Breakfast Platter and was happy with it. Classic items and well cooked! Good spot along Manhattan Beach to try out if you haven’t before.
Nice place for a casual dinner. The food was a bit overdone for my taste, but my dining companions enjoyed it. Service was very friendly but they seemed overworked. The best part of our meal for me was desert, so save room.

Enjoyable time every time The food quality is good & they have a happy hour which helps when you can make it. Lovely atmosphere
I recently visited this place during happy hour and had a mixed experience. The food was good, and the prices were fair, especially for the happy hour specials. However, the service left much to be desired. The restaurant has some kind of shutters to block the sun, and when we tried to adjust them manually, one of the staff members rudely informed us that they were electric and very expensive. Instead of offering to help or adjust the shutters for us, he simply told us to move to a table in the shade, without any offer to assist in relocating. This lack of attentiveness and the rude manner in which we were spoken to definitely dampened the experience. While the food and pricing were satisfying, the service needs improvement. A little more consideration for customer comfort would go a long way in making this a place I’d want to return to.
The food is way overpriced for the quality. I had the lunch special, arugula salad, burrata sandwich and the salmon tacos. The tacos were micro tacos and very wet so they fell apart. The same for the burrata sandwich. The bread was toasted but the burrata hadn’t been drained so the bread was a soggy mess. The salad dressing was lovely but the salad was just arugula and tomatoes. Very sparse
They said they were dog friendly, and while they do have a doggie menu and only allow dogs on the outside patio, they do not let the dog drink water on the patio. I had a doggie bowl with me and gave my dog some water, the waiter came over and picked it up and dumped it out. They also didn't offer the doggie menu. I had to ask for it, nor did they greet my dog. I would say this place isn't dog friendly, but rather allows dogs on the patio. At places that are truly doggy friendly, they treat the dog differently, offer them treats, even bring them a bowl of water. None of that happened here, so this place is not dog friendly. They simply allow dogs and as a business gesture, offer an over-priced doggie menu if you'd like to get your dog a bite to eat.... Oh and in addition, after we paid, the waiter made it a point to tell us that the table was reserved for 2pm. We were there for lunch and the place was practically empty with more than at least 30 seats available. We found it odd that it was our one table of two that was specifically reserved at exactly 1.5 hours after our reservation time. Just be frank, that's just called turning the table. You didn't want us to sit at the table if we weren't ordering more food. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food was good, but the poor service is not worth going there a second time.
The hash browns were way too oily. And it appeared they were using inflammatory seed oil for the price of $6 for abput two tablespoons of potatoes and seed oil. It was about $25 for a basic omlette with 2 flowers on it, doused in a fatty colorful sauce. The kale salad was doused in aioli oil and greasy cheese chips. My cup was not clean, it had lipstick on it.

I’ve probably been to this place around ten times. Since I enjoy dining alone, this time was no exception. I’ve never had any issues before and always enjoyed my experience here — until now. Unfortunately, the staff completely ruined my evening, and I ended up leaving without even having dinner. The reason? At 8:20 PM, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, I wasn’t allowed to sit at a round table. I prefer round tables, and since I’m coming to enjoy myself and spend money, I expect decent treatment. The manager told me there was nothing he could do. Again — this was at 8:20 PM, with almost no guests in the restaurant. That’s a terrible approach to customer service. I hope you take this seriously and consider hiring more competent staff.
We stopped by here because we happened to be in the area and were hungry and the menu looked ok. They were having happy hour at the time as well. I ordered the salmon poke tostada, but the salsa was incredibly bitter, like something went bad. I couldn’t eat it and ended up sending it back (they did discount it off the bill). My husband got a slider which tasted pretty good. We then both ordered their lunch special combos. We both got the burrata paninis, which were actually decent in flavor despite being a little too greasy. I also ordered the fish tacos after asking the server to confirm that they could prepare it without cilantro. She very confidently told me that the only cilantro was in the garnish and therefore it would be cilantro free as long as they left it off. When it was brought out to me, it was announced as “no cilantro!”. It was smothered in an avocado sauce with cilantro in it. Luckily I am not allergic and it only made the food inedible to me, otherwise I’d be in real trouble. My husband was kind enough to trade my tacos for his clam chowder, but it had a very spicy chile in it for some reason and I could only eat a few bites of it. After we left, we both felt stomach upset as when a lot of baking soda is used to preserve the food. The servers that came over kept changing throughout service and it seemed like they didn’t have anyone actually in charge of the staff. The staff was friendly and were trying, but missed the mark. On the plus side, you could see a little bit of the ocean between two buildings and it’s close to the beach.
