Excellent restaurant located beside of main streets. With peacefull garden above the street, playing nice music, heaters and chilling romantic lights. Very tasty food with nice and clean tables. Thoughtful and polite service. Recomend to order "afternoon tea" for two. Can be ordered between 4 and 7PM. Both of you will get one drink/cocktail/coffee/tea, clubsandwich, few starters and some sweets like cream cake and biscuits. Just visit and enjoy peace a excelent food with service.

My friend and I stumbled upon Sottosopra during a walk on our first afternoon in Trastevere. We made a reservation for the rooftop garden the following evening. Alessandro was our host and he made sure our evening was nothing short of an amazing experience. Without a doubt this has been the best Italian dining we have had so far on our trip. We enjoyed homemade bread with oil and burrata, spinach as a side dish, the flavour combination in the ravioli was so refreshing. Our highlight was definitely the special - truffle fettuccine, a truly melt in your mouth heartfelt culinary experience. Do not skip on dessert. My friend said her tiramisu was the best she has had so far, very light hand made and flavourful. I had the chocolate sphere which was as amazing to look at as it was to eat. Thanks to Alessandro and the team for such a beautiful meal we will not forget.

That’s definitely the best restaurant we tried in Italy yet (and we tried a lot). Every dish exceeded our expectations. The dessert was absolutely exceptional. I would especially recommend to try guinea fowl brest, it was outstandingly delicious. Our server, Giuseppe, was attentive and polite. The location is welcoming and original, with an atmosphere that combines modernity and warmth, perfect for an intimate evening or a meeting with friends. The menu is varied, with dishes that express creativity and very fresh ingredients. I tried the off-menu truffle dish and was pleasantly surprised by the perfect balance of flavors and the presentation taken care of down to the smallest details. Even the vegetarian/vegan options were well thought out and tasty. The service was impeccable: the staff was kind, professional and always available to explain the dishes with passion. An excellent wine list completes the offer, with several carefully selected labels. Ultimately, Sottosopra is a restaurant that manages to combine quality, innovation and excellent service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dinner in an elegant setting but without ever being too formal. I can't wait to go back!

Posto molto carino, ambiente accogliente e la terrazza ha un suo fascino immersa nel verde, dovete prenotare chiedendo il posto fuori xchè non ha molti posti a sedere. Nel menu ci sono descritti gli allergeni così è facile capire cosa scegliere. Il cibo era buono , la guancia di maiale un po’ secca ma nel complesso buona, anche gli spinaci con parmigiano e burro ottimi. Pane servito caldo con olio di qualità come ben venuto devo dire una chicca x palati fini. Rapporto qualità prezzo corretto. Nota dolente non si può far pagare una bottiglia d’acqua da 70cl fatta col miscelatore 2.50€ alla fine è l’acqua del comune di Roma.

Un bel locale all’inizio di trastevere che ha un giardino splendido in mezzo al verde e che protegge dalla confusione di piazza trilussa. Buoni gli antipasti (tempura vegetale) e speciale il primo (cappellotti al cacio e pepe con spuma di carbonara). Buon servizio. Conto un po’ alto ma in considerazione del posto ce lo aspettavamo.

Ristorante elegante nel cuore di Trastevere. Con una location bellissima sottosopra vi accompagnerà in una cena con piatti particolari. Consiglio di portare un anti zanzare perché ve ne sono parecchie. Gli antipasti e i primi sono ottimi, consiglio l’uramaki di saltimbocca. Sconsigliato il tiramisù, troppo secco e la crema allo zabaione non mi ha entusiasmato. Per accompagnare il menu troverete una selezione di vini ben fornita e con ampia scelta anche tra i calici. Per il nostro anniversario, io e Francesca abbiamo deciso di provare il ristorante Sottosopra a Trastevere, attratti da alcune foto e recensioni sui social. Appena arrivati, nonostante la zona molto frequentata, ci hanno accolto con cordialità: ci hanno fatto accomodare e subito portato acqua, pane e olio. Devo dire che il pane era davvero buono, e l’olio un vero piccolo piacere per il palato. Abbiamo cenato nella terrazza prenotata, che offre una vista davvero carina su Piazza Trilussa. Nonostante fossimo proprio davanti alla piazza, il rumore era leggero e non disturbava la nostra chiacchierata, il che ha reso l’atmosfera piacevole e rilassata. Il ristorante è ben tenuto, curato nei dettagli, e il menù offre una buona varietà di piatti. L’antipasto è stato decisamente il momento migliore della serata, con sapori equilibrati e ingredienti freschi. Purtroppo, il primo e il secondo piatto ci hanno un po’ deluso: sia per la qualità che per la quantità, i piatti lasciavano a desiderare. I camerieri si sono mostrati sempre presenti e attenti, ma le porzioni troppo piccole e i sapori non eccezionali hanno inciso sull’esperienza culinaria. Il prezzo è decisamente alto rispetto a quello che si mangia: qui si paga soprattutto l’esperienza di cenare con una vista su Piazza Trilussa, più che la qualità del cibo in sé. In conclusione, consiglio Sottosopra non tanto per la cucina, ma per vivere una bella serata: perfetto per chi vuole chiacchierare tra amici o godersi una cena intima con vista sulla piazza. Un’esperienza piacevole, ma con qualche riserva sul cibo.

Our tour guide recommended and it was end of tour, using the fork we booked with a discount. The guy who seated me offered water which I accepted and a bottle arrived at cost of 6 euro!! Options for a cheaper bottle exist but were not offered. On the other hand a rather nice crispy bread with a good olive oil and a small taster of desert at end of meal came gratis which was nice. As for the mains, my partners lamb chops were tasty but nothing special, my pasta was good but very small portion and 20 euro. Fortunately I was served the wrong pasta first (a similarly small and overpriced ravioli) and had finished it by the time they fixed the error, if it was not for this I would have finished a pasta meal hungry. No coperto so I tipped 10% for good service (especially mixing up the orders!). Still 45 euro is too much for such a meal, and the seats at the smallest tables are uncomfortable and crowded.

Good evening to everyone reading this review. I cannot believe how many positive comments I’ve seen about this restaurant in Rome, specifically in Trastevere. I honestly don’t understand how so many people have no taste. I’m from Croatia, and Croatians have very, very good cuisine — we know food, and we love to eat. Also, since I’m from Dalmatia, we have a lot of Italian influence because of history and proximity, so I know Italian cuisine very well. You can’t fool me — maybe you can fool people from other countries, but not me. So, two friends and I came to this restaurant because we saw the beautiful garden, and it truly is lovely. Great atmosphere. For starters we ordered steak tartare and lollipops with caramelized onions. The tartare was tasteless and the portion extremely small. They didn’t even bring us butter or bread — we had to ask for it. In Croatia we have excellent steak tartare, and this one would be an example of a very poor one. The lollipops were okay, interesting at least. Then we moved on to the primo piatto. We got gnocchi with lamb and some kind of cheese, and pasta with a tomato foam. We have never eaten anything worse in our lives. Tasteless, bland, characterless, unseasoned — just nothing. We were honestly furious because we wanted to enjoy pasta on our last night in Rome. This was an insult to pasta and to Italy. Our third friend didn’t order a primo; she wanted fish as her second course. She got the fish, but the portion wouldn’t feed a squirrel. Terribly, embarrassingly small, even though she said the taste was fine. Service was also unimpressive. The waitress didn’t know anything about wine, so we ended up choosing randomly. They rarely checked on us. And I have to tell you — even the damn Parmesan was tasteless, and that’s something you can hardly get wrong. All in all, afterwards we went for pizza. Avoid this tourist trap.

Ieri sera ho cenato insieme a un’altra coppia per l’ultimo dell’anno presso il ristorante Sotto Sopra Trastevere. Al momento della prenotazione mi ero premurata di verificare che, poiché i posti all’interno risultavano già esauriti, il roof garden proposto dal ristoratore fosse completamente coperto e riscaldato, come indicato anche nell’e-mail di conferma ricevuta. Purtroppo, al nostro arrivo abbiamo scoperto che il tavolo era stato riservato all’esterno: la “copertura” consisteva semplicemente in un tendone, con funghi a gas come unico riscaldamento. Dopo esserci lamentati e aver insistito, siamo stati spostati sotto il telone, seppur con difficoltà, trovando una sistemazione solo parzialmente accettabile. Il menù non è risultato all’altezza di un cenone di Capodanno: le porzioni erano scarse e la qualità complessiva del cibo deludente, tanto che molte persone hanno lasciato i piatti quasi intatti perché le pietanze non erano particolarmente squisite. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è stato quindi assolutamente insoddisfacente. Inoltre, a ridosso della mezzanotte, la situazione è diventata persino pericolosa: la terrazza si trova poco sopra la scalinata di Piazza Trilussa e i commensali, come noi, che cenavano nella parte esterna sono stati costretti ad alzarsi e ad allontanarsi dai tavoli per il rischio del lancio di botti pericolosi che avveniva a ridosso del terrazzo pensile. A causa del caos creatosi in quel momento, nemmeno il piatto tradizionale di cotechino e lenticchie è arrivato. Ulteriore stranezza: nel menù erano indicati “dolci natalizi”, che in realtà consistevano in un piattino da condividere tra due persone, contenente un solo pezzo di pandoro, uno di panettone e un piccolo pezzo di torrone. Infine, al momento del pagamento abbiamo espresso tutte le nostre rimostranze, chiedendo anche l’applicazione di uno sconto per i disservizi subiti. Purtroppo, da parte del gestore non c’è stata alcuna comprensione né disponibilità a venire incontro al cliente. Mi auguro che, in una serata non festiva, la qualità sia migliore rispetto a quella riscontrata ieri sera. Nel complesso, mi dispiace dover constatare che la mia valutazione non è positiva
