Love it! We are full time Mom's right now and Cheddar's was our escape 😩 last Saturday we went for some silence, peace and a relaxing lunch date, everything was on point! Our drinks were perfect, our server was so patient with us, after the first drink we were so loud lol and he was always polite, thank you Cheddar's for giving us a relaxing Mommy time. I've only been there twice and it doesn't disappoint, long waiting time depending on the size of your party but the food is worth it! My favorite appetizers are the chicken strips with the spinach dip. You can't go wrong with the menu items.

Food was delicious, server was great, and nice ambiance. Had chicken alfredo and my husband had steak. It was a busy night, so wait for was about 15 minutes for a table which wasn't bad.

It been such a long time since I've been to Cheddar's. Sitting was instant. Waiter was definitely on point. The experience was completely amazing. The food...oh, now i remember why I hadn't come to visit...you can't stop eating! Everything was perfect...and the rolls, you can't stop! The dishes are very well served. You won't leave hungry for sure. And price, spot on. Can't wait to go back.

We had already started eating when I remembered to take pictures but this our #1 spot for steak and shrimp 4 me. The wife love the chicken from here. We got 3 kids so they all have their taste but I give this place 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. You got to try the bourbon glaze with your steak you won't regret it

I had an amazing experience at Cheddar’s Restaurant on my birthday night. The ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the Moscow Mule was fantastic. Our waitress was incredible, providing excellent service, and the overall ambiance of the place made the evening unforgettable. Highly recommend!

A few months ago, I went to Cheddars while in Ashland, KY. I was so disappointed with the food that I decided not to go back. But after having a great experience with customer service, I couldn't just turn my backs on them. I visited the Cheddar's here in McAllen, TX, and I must say, they did not disappoint. I switched it up a little and ordered the grilled pork chops with broccoli casserole and a baked potato. It was so good and fresh that I will be returning before I leave!! Thank you for making it right! ❤️

This was my first time here. I was really impressed with the bread.

I was having lunch on my own, and I was wanting pasta...so I ordered the chicken tender parmesan. Oh, my! I wanted yo ask the people next to me to help me eat it! It was soo good. The marinara sauce was on point. It was cheesy and I satisfied my noodle cravings. The value was just as good, only $10.99!! Make sure you have a hearty appetite OR be willing to share. My waiter gave excellent service. I love to eat here.

Amazing food!!!! Depending on what day of the week you go because on the weekends it is overwhelmingly packed! The servers are nice & everything looks really clean. Sometimes it gets a little too loud even for a weekday. It really depends of the day you go & the time. If you go at a really good day & time then your date or significant event you're having is going to go smashingly well mate. Enjoy your food!!!

I wanted to treat my love to lunch on my day off, so we decided on Cheddar’s. We arrived just after noon, and the place was already buzzing with energy! Naturally, we started with a drink—nothing too fancy for me, just a refreshing cranberry vodka, while my love ordered the Maui Margarita 💋. Both were vibrant, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. To pair with our drinks, we kicked things off with the Wisconsin cheese bites—so addicting, they practically melted in my mouth 😋. After savoring those, it was time for our entrées. My love enjoyed a perfectly cooked medium-rare sirloin with a loaded baked potato and grilled shrimp on the side. The green beans were a miss, but everything else was devoured without hesitation 💯. As for me, I went with the classic chicken fried chicken—simple, hearty, and completely satisfying. We had such a wonderful afternoon our server Joshua took excellent care of us, the food and drinks were spot on, and we left with full and happy bellies. Thank you, Cheddar’s, for a fantastic experience!

Update: 2/20/26 Wanted to try Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen again since its been awhile and its always been good. This time I think its the best service I have ever had, not only here but everywhere. Our server name is ( Julio, he deserve a raise by the way ) was very good. He always was polite and kind, and always attentive. He would always have another drink ready for us. Atmosphere was good, clean and not too loud. The food was great my Dad ordered the ribs with fried shrimp, my Mom ordered the country fried chicken and it was big like orders I think. I ordered the chicken and shrimp with grilled shrimp, but I think I should have ordered the fried shrimp but shrimp still good. Will come back again and ask for Julio and this time I won't wait 2 years. I forgot to mention that we always had the sampler appetizer, we got the chip and nacho dip, tenders, and bacon and cheese fries. I was good. Update: 3/1/24 Went to go eat with my brother Josh and my favorite sis-n-law at Chedders scratch kitchen. Service was good and food was great. I recommend this place will go again. Even though there was a long line we got seated in about 30mins Food was good the server was really good

Absolutely delicious lunch! Extremely enjoyable atmosphere and facility. The building and dining room immaculate. My colleague and I visited this Cheddar's location for the first time in early November. The building, look, feel, vibe, decor and atmosphere all similar to other Cheddar's locations where I have visited. Extremely pleasant lunch experience with excellent service and delicious food. My colleague enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich and I enjoyed the Cheeseburger. Both sandwiches were delicious! I ordered a loaded baked potato as my side item (the potato was hot and fresh, but quite small!). My colleague had fries as his side. Although we arrived at lunch time we were seated immediately in a very comfortable booth. I really love and appreciate the pleasant, low-key atmosphere in the dining room. Cheddar's is an excellent place to meet friends, family and colleagues for lunch or dinner. There is not a lot of loud noise which makes it easy to have a conversation. The menu is large and diverse; there is something for everyone. Salads, burgers, sandwiches, chicken, pastas and much more can be enjoyed here. The menu selection pricing is extremely reasonable! There is a full service bar for adult beverages and libations! I highly recommend this outstanding Cheddar's location!

Update 10/18/25: This location is very consistent in their food and service. Wait staff are always polite, friendly and respectful. If they happen to forget something, they will remember and make it right and better. The food is very good, full of flavor, go to is country fried chicken, lemon pepper grilled fish, chicken tenders, cornmeal fried fish, combo of ribs and chicken tenders. Their appetizers are excellent, cheese dip, salsa with dips; onion rings; and the desserts are to die for especially the apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And then there are the regular drinks and cocktails, Texas size frozen margarita being my favorite. Some friends of ours tell us the Pain Killer is also delicious, but limited to two. This place has not disappointed! I will continue to go eat a great meal that is affordable enough to order drinks or dessert. The ambiance is comfortable but at times can be loud due to the popularity, a great place to celebrate special occasions. Update 2022: I enjoyed eating at this location for dinner on Easter Sunday. We experienced some great service, unfortunately I didn’t get her name. We had their delicious chicken pot pies and their complimentary croissants! Instead of a salad I ordered their broccoli and cheese casserole, which was very great tasting, I highly recommend it. We also enjoyed their Texas Margaritas, on the rocks or frozen. Sorry, didn’t take any pictures, this time around.

Was very annoying to not have anything I asked for on the menu and half the menu we used to order discontinued and even the vegetable sides came with ham or bacon pork products in them I settled on red beans and rice it was mostly SAUSAGE 🥺 Had to settle on a fried chicken plate even though I wanted healthier grilled choice, the steak and shrimp they brought my daughter in law was doused in a PILE of dried up parsley.... It didn't make dinner fancy it made it awkward and she tried scraping it off and ended up with green in her teeth, super embarrassed kept checking in mirror har to go to rroom n rinse her mouth and no unsweet tea? Everything loaded with sugars. 🙄 Our waitress tried her best to be accommodating even though. Ok. The end i ate half a fried piece of chicken and some mashed potato 🙄 not the way I wanted to spend bday.

Always enjoyed Cheddars. Food and service has always been outstanding. Only negative (which cannot be helped) is that it is usually too noisy to take a phone call or have a conversation. Best to go at less busy times.

Celebrating Father's day with a delicious Monte Cristo! It was really good by the way. Service was kinda slow in the bar area and it was not even full. It was good to be back after a few months.

When i got my table, the waiter was not so nice, he was pushy, he kept asking how long until my friends arrived, when they were parking. When we were ordering and we finished, he almost pulled out the menus from our hands and once the food was served, he hardly ever gave us attention. This place was generally quite good. The food was delicious, the employees were very welcoming, and the tables seemed quite clean. However, the establishment was VERY crowded and the meal portions seemed way too big to finish in just one lunch. Despite those issues, this place was a very enjoyable experience!

Other than the hostess calling me to tell me for my party size we would be sat next to each other and then realizing that was not that case having to be put back on wait list. Everything was made up for it by the manager & our server who I believe his name was Sebas who stated he was new. Drinks were never empty food was hot when it hit the table. The food was fine but overpriced. We ordered the Montecristo and chicken tenders and shrimp. Waitress was very cordial. Tables a bit too close for comfort. Typical American eatery you won’t be disappointed with food just don’t expect flavor explosion.

Specials were delicious. Crowded for lunch even at 2 p.m. Bread took an inordinately long time but was absolutely amazing when it finally made it to the table. Overall ok but a bit overpriced.

Everything was perfect. Except for my French fries,they tasted stale, and chips queso were awful.. The entrées were good. I had the cornmeal white fish with order of coconut 🍤 very delicious.. The waiter was a great person, very polite.

The food was really good and price was acceptable but it took an hour and a half to get seated. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars to this place. Went a second time and it took even longer to get seated but the dish was 100% worth it.

Be prepared to wait before being seated. However they do text you when your table is ready. Service was excellent and employees were attentive. Pricing was reasonable. Anywhere else that same food would have been more expensive. Food was good and flavorful. Only complaint I did have was that the temperature of the food was not hot. It was lukewarm.

Waited under 15 minutes for a table for 2 during Saturday lunch time! Cheese fries were BOMB, but the croissants & our drinks took a while to be brought. Got the country fried steak & hated it… absolutely no flavor on the meat or breading. First time ordering the country fried steak and was extremely disappointed. The chicken pasta salad was good but definitely ask for more dressing or it can be a bit dry.

The Trio appetizer was literally ONE OF THE BEST THINGS IVE EVER HAD. I would go back here solely for that. As for the rest of the food, it was Mid. Burger was alright, nothing special about it. Not flavorful, just like a normal burger. The tilapia had 0 flavor, LITERALLY NO SEASONING. The herbs just made it look pretty. Like i do not care about presentation as much as i do taste. Get some seasoning on that, same goes for shrimp. Overall MID, but the appetizer WAS SOO GOOD it gives it a 4 star. Without the appetizer would have been a 3. Service was also EXCELLENT, loved our waitresses W.

The food was good, but the overall experience could have been better. Cleanliness was a big issue—the floors and seats were dirty, and unfortunately, I found a hair in my drink. Service was just okay. My server, Derek, took a while to bring my drink, and my food arrived before I even had utensils or my beverage. That said, I could tell he was trying his best, so kudos to him for the effort. A special shoutout to Javier, who noticed I wasn’t happy and stepped in to make things right. We enjoy the food when we visit. It is a huge dissapointment that they don't provide guest wi-fi. There is hardly any cellphone signal inside this restaurant and we have seen it as a frequent complaint amongst guests. This is the main reason why it doesn't get a higher rating from me. The issue just seems ignored. Does it affect the overall experience? For us it usually does since we can't share anything on line or event make calls or text when we have to.

Food was pretty good. I had the grilled mango salmon and shrimp. I was kind of upset I had to wait for drinks to be refilled and my husband said his Chicken Fried Steak was more batter than steak. Other than that it was good.

The food is about 1° above fast food. Our came out lukewarm. The fried shrimp came out hot but the quality was not there.

The food menu appears to be like thanksgiving meal plates, not saying is bad but some of the food plate sides are can of green been and can of yellow corn that easily can find that at local grocery store for 1dlls and can get even more at less price, but oh well.

My food was great, my server not , he didn’t check up on us , we refills we need a hot sauce we need to ask about the steak he was raw. We asked for well done. Went for my birthday dinner. It was so hot! They first wanted to offer us two booths, we said no because we wanted to sit together. They got us a big table in the middle. It was too crowded in there! The food was okay. I've gone in the past and used to like it, now its just horrible.

Dine in during week and not weekends. This place like the other restaurants are getting slammed on the weekends…Both service and food quality go downhill….Even tried takeout last Saturday…. Food quality was unsatisfactory… cold… taste like paste…The take out service was good but viewing all the customers, they simply coukd not keep up with demand.

This was a Medium Rare burger I ordered the inside was completely raw. The fries, broccoli was good. I was surprised they managed to cook the chicken correctly.

The amount of sauteed onions on the burger was honestly laughable other than that the burger was fine. I didn't like that the table was sticky in some spots and very lopsided. My experience wasn't all bad, the staff was friendly and prompt and so was the server, we were seated quickly and our orders came out in a timely manner. The croissants were excellent! Overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant I didn't have a terrible experience but it wasn't good enough to want to come back. One last the lemonade would have been perfect if it wasn't made with tap water.

Since the last time I have been here, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen has gone down hill. The food quality has gone down, the service has gotten worse, and they're always getting rid of things off their menu leaving less variety to choose from. This past time I went not only was the food served room temperature, but the appetizer came after the food. The whole dining experience was weird to say the least.

Went to celebrate a birthday, as per online post, they offer a free dessert. Manager took for ever to come out with a cookie in a bag. Left the bag there. Chilis would never.

One of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had from a ladybug being in my sisters order to the waiter arguing and justifying why we should do things his way, for example we asked for utensils and he stated you know one will come with your salad, we asked to take the chips and he tried to convince us they won’t be good in a hour, we tried to order food to go and he said we should wait and refused to take the order till later , also when paying he told us not to touch the kiosk to pay but we weren’t gonna wait for him once one of us paid he came back and said that he told us not to touch anything , framing would help these suggestions but he was very cold joking as well that were not needed stating that “ I just picked off the lady bug” and saying “no” when we asked for things. There is a time and a place for sarcastic jokes and suggestions but at work when serving people is not that time or place . Servers name is Derek . Our table total was 170+ for poor quality

First time trying steak at Cheddars. Asked for it Medium, came back rare. Asked to cooked it a bit longer. Got it back the same rare. Very disappointed. Didn’t enjoy my steak. Neither did my daughter eat her wrap. It was mediocre. Should of gotten the country fried steak. Management should also be more consistent on their guests. Server did a good job but he was very busy bartending as well. Understandable, understaffed. But management should of been helping their staff.

Worst service ever. My online order was missing my battered shrimp. I had to tell them to put it in. I got home and my Monte Cristo sandwich was missing the powdered sugar and the raspberry sauce to dip the sandwich in. I tried calling in but the operator message kept saying calls could not go through. McAllen Cheddar’s sucks. It’s their business to get things right the first time and they get it wrong. I don’t have time to waste by going in for them to correct their mistake. Gas is not cheap these days. Also, I was missing my country gravy for my mashed potatoes. I don’t get why they ask you to check off what options you want if they don’t pay attention to your selections anyway. Also my pickup time was for 4:55pm and I had to get off to ask about my order. Ended up getting it around 5:07 pm. My total order was not cheap. It was $69.66 with taxes. Had ordered for Mother’s Day dinner at home.

Update: we got seated right away. But the food was a big disappointment. My Philly cheesesteak had enough mushrooms to make a whole forest. And the new Orleans Cajun pasta was supposed to have chicken and had none. And the pasta was way overcooked. Hard pass. Won’t be coming back anytime soon. I’ll try again in another year. Been trying to get on the waitlist via the phone but no one answers the phone. Extension 2 doesn't even exist. LOL. How sad.

Let me just start off and say that I have never in my life felt the need to speak with a supervisor, LET ALONE LEAVE A REVIEW ABOUT ANYTHING !!! but the service i just had has led me to do one. so i am going to be briefly be detailing all the experiences I've had at this location specifically at Cheddars. I went to this cheddars and my friends and i went to the mens restroom to wash our hands and i saw one of the busboys not wash his hands after taking a leak. I went to cheddars on another occasion and one of the waiters in the middle of taking our order walked away to go chase a butterfly or something. Lord only knows. We don't have a consistent waiter, served wrong drinks, served croissants - well atleast i thought they were under the MOUNTAIN OF GLAZE ON MY CROISSANTS !!! On another occasion when the restaurant was near empty, I went with my friends and asked for a booth, we were given a half booth half seats and when I politely asked if I could get a booth. ANY other booth that was available (all of them). she (the hostess) groaned and said well "why don't YOU sit on the booth side!" Another thing. There's always like 4 hostesses and they all don't do anything. The customer service here is non-existent. While Cheddars has always provided sub-par experiences, I will say that the food wasn't (PAST tense) that bad quality for the price. This was the day that Cheddars had truly outdone themselves. My friend and I ordered a 6 oz steak each. I ordered mine medium-well and he ordered his medium rare. We were served our steaks and let me say that my steak looked like a piece of the floor, but not only that it was way too overcooked. They also used so much salt I am still tasting it almost 12 hours later. My friends steak on the other hand was completely RAW. completely RED with WHITE FAT all around the steak. I wish we took a picture of that but we aren't the type to complain. We asked the waitress if we could get it cooked more and they offered to make a new steak. fine. it comes out and looks almost the exact same except this steak looked old and had the worst texture you can imagine. My friend tried not to complain and ate a chunk of the steak, as he was very hungry, but is now sick and has stomach pains. After looking more closely I told my friend that we need to let a supervisor know. We were concerned that this complete lack of care in the kitchen could get someone sick and needed to be addressed and showed the steak to the supervisor. The waitress as well as the male supervisor both looked at this steak and said it was a "perfect" medium rare. He said that they use "state of the art temperatures." Complete bologna. We had been there for what felt like an eternity. We paid and left defeated. I showed these pictures of the steak to my friend and he told me that he wanted second opinions, so we started calling people and asking for their opinions. They all said it was raw and we should ask for a refund. We went back inside with our receipt and asked the General Manager Jennifer, who had the biggest forced smile on her face while having the nastiest tone. I asked her politely what she thought of the picture of the steak (if she thought the steak was medium-rare.) she says absolutely and that we should've asked for our steaks to be cooked more when seated. the only problem is that WE DID AND WERE SERVED NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE POORLY COOKED STEAKS. (if including mine!) before we can ask for a refund she states in a very nasty tone "you should have ordered medium." i told her that wasn't the problem. my friend always orders a medium rare steak and we know what a medium rare looks like. this is RARE, or more possibly BLUE RARE !!! YUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she then goes to the back and comes back with 15 dollars in cash and says the same thing in a nasty tone and big nasty smile. "next time you should order medium!" i then had to tell her "we would take our business elsewhere, goodbye!" May my Lord and Savior please forgive them for what they did to that cow.

Some of the staff is friendly & helpful. Majority is rude and rushed. We previously enjoyed a consistent, decent quality dining experience here. Now it’s abysmal. I would save your money & time. No longer relevant. Left this review a year ago: Service is good. The food is decent and consistent. We’ll go again. I would recommend this location. 🥐🍝🥗🍲
