I had the BEST time! The band (Brad Burkedahl) took a sleepy tourist crowd and got them hopping. The food is great, best turnip greens I've had in a long time. If you go to that place across the street, you're a damn fool!

I received several recommendations to visit the restaurant from locals and visitors to Memphis. The restaurant did not disappoint. The servers were very polite and made the visit even more enjoyable. We ordered sausage and cheese, gumbo, turnip greens, stuffed mushrooms, catfish, and a rib combo. Everything was good, but the turnip greens were exceptional. I recommend visiting here to get some food before going to a bar.

Beale Street in Memphis is a tough one for food. It's all around the edges but within the road blocks, where all the lights are, it's a tough one! We found Blues City Cafe because the line outside of BB Kings was too long and it was too cold. So very thankful we did, it was amazing! I will forever crave those little paper wrapped tamales and chili and am kicking myself today for not getting a few orders to go!! The ribs are phenomenal, best we've had anywhere in a long time and BBQ is usually our go to. Steak fries, hot and crispy and a pork chop smokey and tender. Everything about our meal was top notch and our server Shaq made sure the entire experience was one to remember! We'll be back for sure, the tamales are calling my name! This place was amazing!!! We love blues and good food!! The band was popping and the atmosphere was incredible!! I'm truly grateful we made the trip here!! It sucked to stand in the rain to get in but it was worth it. 👍🏾❤️

Good food, great service, fun place. We were just around for some light food so we ordered a piece of chicken tender and a side portion of pork BBQ, both of which tasted yum. Portion was perfect for the price. Not too expensive. Just right. Our server Ella was very friendly and chatted with us before we left. Other customers weren’t too loud but maybe because we were there so late, around 11 pm. But even then, the atmosphere was still fun.

Adventures in Memphis... on the world famous Beale street I finally found a catfish that caught me, hook, line and sinker! Our server was so sweet with southern hospitality at 1000! She said they had the best Catfish, ribs and "turn-up" greens... and I ain't never known her to tell a lie! Crispy cornbread laid cried catfish cooked to perfection. Sweet spicy ribs that feel off the bones and had me lickin' my fingertips! Whooooooeeee. Drinks were strong and she went to the basement to get me a cup full of cherries 🍒! Cuz who can drink bourbon without them? And Hush down on the HushPups... I've never been a fan, but the way they tasted, all buttery sweet with just the right crunch! Ummm! Drool! Couldn't stay for dessert or the live band, but that only gives me another reason to come back again!

Blues City Cafe on Beale Street – My Favorite Spot for Ribs in Memphis! Located right in the heart of Beale Street, Blues City Cafe is my go to place for mouthwatering ribs in Memphis. Every dish I’ve tried from tamales and chili to shrimp and anything else on the menu is incredibly tasty. The lively atmosphere and unbeatable location make it a must visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Memphis flavor and Southern hospitality. Definitely a top pick when you're on Beale Street!

4.5 tweener, round up for serving after midnight. Got catfish and half rack. Catfish had nice old bay like seasoning served with tartar sauce. We dropped in past midnight and still had decent ribs. Tender with hints of smoke. Steak fries crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Food comes out quick after ordering. 2 visits, 1 server was lethargic until the bill and tip time came, but 2nd server was upbeat even at 1 am. Buddy got tamales and chili, said it was excellent. Overall portion size is large for one person.

We had late night eats here when everything else on Beale was closing down last Monday. The service was great, our waitress was friendly, fast, and just the right amount of attentive without being overbearing. I had the pot roast stew which was absolutely fantastic and a side order of catfish which was delicious too. My wife had tamales and chili which she really enjoyed and our friend had shrimp which was a huge portion for the price and tasted amazing. The pecan pie with ice cream to finish was the perfect dessert. Wish we had stayed in Memphis a second night to give more of the menu a taste. Definitely a spot worth hitting if you are in the area.

This spot has a cozy, old-fashioned charm that immediately makes you feel at home. The food was excellent, and the service was friendly and attentive. I’d gladly return anytime we’re in the area and highly recommend it for a comforting, enjoyable meal.

The rubes were good but not very tender, our favorite part was the sauce and the sides! The fish was soft and delicious as well. The service was helpful is making our decision on food since it was our first time!

Great spot to get a for Memphis feel. Ribs were better than the catfish but everything was good- they ribs were just exceptional. Good service, great atmosphere, great location!

Best ribs we ever had! We ordered the Ribs for 2 with beans, slaw, Texas Toast and fries. The rack was huge... and literally fell off the bone. Great flavor and delicious. Beans were sweet, slaw dressing was light and creamy with vinegar, steak fries, and buttery warm Trxas Toast. We liked the atmosphere and the service was fast and our drinks were continuously refilled. We had our food within about 3 minutes of ordering. We parked in the paid city lot just up the street, was easy and close.

We went for dinner and it was great! I had seen a review about the pulled pork fries and they did not disappoint. Had leftovers and none went to waste. We couldn’t finish the yummy ribs fast enough. The green beans were even tasty. We also got our food super fast and service was excellent. We will be going back

Tasty food at a good price for the area. Live music played later at night. Great atmosphere. Waiter very chatty. We really enjoyed our evening there.

The food was decent and fairly priced, but the real highlight was the great customer service. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I’d definitely come back!

Chef Larry's Greens were some of the best I've ever had. Stuffed mushrooms were also amazing. I can't wait to be back to try more.

Ribs literally fell off the bone. Full of flavor. The sauce and seasoning were perfect. The beans were like none other i have had. Was a mix of bean types and a swat flavor.

Absolutely great service! Fast and friendly. The waiter told us about almost everything on the menu. Pork chop was cooking medium and perfect. Ribs were slightly dry but we did go at 10pm. Gumbo was amazing as well as the chicken tenders. Beans and turnip greens on point.

Lonnie is da man. We were from Chicago party of 8 and boy did he take care of us. Food was great and so was the atmosphere.

The ribs were so tender that when I stuck my knife in to cut the ribs (expecting the ribs to give me a struggle) the bone fell out. Fries are delicious, coleslaw is a classic, beans tasty, and top it off with a thick slice of a slightly toasted bread. The atmosphere is great! Good music and with a laid-back vibe and when you walk outside onto Beale Street you are met with a lively crowd experiencing Memphis independently but also along side you!

My wife and I along with another couple in Memphis for “The Queens Tour” concert. We tried the gumbo cheese fries which were amazingly delicious. We also had the Fried fish and ribs, can’t wait to visit again.

We were traveling from Indiana to Texas and stopped at Beale street. A couple of locals recommended Blues City Cafe. The restaurant did not disappoint. Food was delicious and hot. Service was great and fast.

Shout out to the host.. A fellow Las Vegas Raiders fan! RN4L The ribs tasted amazing with the sauce. The steak fries and bake beans 🫘 we're real tasty as the sides. With a cup of water w/ 🍋 & a local Memphis larger on tap suggested by the waitress (nice lady, Luby J). Take out Gumbo! Pretty damn Good! ✊🏾🇺🇲👑🫡🏴‍☠️

Ella was a great server! She was very friendly and made GREAT recommendations! The doorman was very social and nice. I recommend this place because the food is pretty good ( like the chili fries; they were AWESOME!) and the service was amazing. I would totally recommend this place!

Absolutely fantastic, damn near perfect ribs. As with many BBQ joints, the sides are decent, but the meat is just wonderful. Not totally falling apart, good texture, juicy and meaty

So I was so annoyed by reviews (like this one) and wanted to go somewhere just of the street. We arrived late 9,30 pm to the beal street and all the kitchens were closed. Almost surrendered to the chips and chocolate dinner we spotted this place... Large Ribs sign and a police car in front. This had to be it! Went in and it was such an alive place. Real characters and real food. Not the flashy gourmet thing but REAL. Ribs were great falling off the bones, stew was great, shrimp skillet... So there you go... Real food experience in a real place. And yes, I still hate online reviews 🙃

So good & great casual atmosphere. Everything we tried was great. Loved the pork chops & chicken tenders. Our server, Patrick, was friendly & very knowledgeable of the menu. I highly recommend it!

Country kitchen serving steaks, chops, and fried local favorites. The food came out on FIRE and was so delicious. The chicken tenders (not spicy) were fried in a delicious crunchy breading that was served with some honey mustard that was out of this world. The pork chop was cooked to my liking and had a decent amount of seasoning. The fried shrimp was OMG delicious, I had to close my eyes to enjoy after my first bite. For four people with one entree each and four cokes the total was $100, not a bad price for a tourist spot. Would come again if I lived locally.

We walked here from the crowne plaza hotel about a 15 min straight straight shot walk. We had the seafood stuffed mushrooms which were fantastic and we also had the chicken tenders with fries. The tenders were great but just a simple fried tender no seasoning or anything just simple. This was first time in and first meal while being here for a convention I was satisfied. I also had there coffee it was great.

Service was absolutely bad none amazing. The food was ok…. Catfish was over cooked. The shrimp was amazing.

Expensive especially for a large family. We were expecting Cafe prices but you will pay. Food was extraordinary however not sure it was a good match with the price. Service was slow took a bit to get our drink order taken and then quite a wait to get those drinks. Great adventure. Not sure we saw the value.

Some of the better food on Beale. Decent food pricing for being on the tourist strip. 32oz. Michelob Ultra was $12, which is unjustifiable.

Got the ribs, super dry crust (not bark) on the outside but still moist on the inside. Fall off the bone style if you like that more than a little stick. Ribs were okay at best but the BBQ sauce was pretty good and definitely improves it. 5/10 ribs. Slaw was good and I don't usually like slaw. New potatos need some seasoning or butter. Service was 12/10, loved our waitress. Left just before the live music, but low volume and good atmosphere. Saw lots of families eating dinner, good family dinner spot. If you want great BBQ maybe try somewhere else, if you want just a good place to sit down with a group of people for a casual night out, it's a good spot.

Excellent fried catfish, cheesy fries, and BBQ sausage. The Cajun Garlic shrimp were a bit underwhelming (not spicy or garlic flavor) and the ribs were just ok. I think the ribs come down to what your preferences are with ribs. The boys loved the BBQ sausage on the meat and cheese plate. It came with pickles, peppers, cheese, and sausage. We were disappointed that my son wanted chicken tenders and they couldn't add cheese to the fries.... That seemed a bit much. He ended up just ordering cheese fries for $12.99. Overall the food was good but the pricing was a bit high for a family lunch

The food here is over priced (I assume it’s due to the location) and overall was just “okay.” The steak honestly was really delicious. It was juicy and flavorful—hands down, the best thing we ordered. The catfish was just okay, though. It had a nice crunch, but lacked flavor. Chef Larry’s greens were mostly vinegar and not much other seasoning. Not worth an extra $8, for sure. No doubt this place gets packed since it’s directly on Beale Street, but there was no wait when we went. The service was on par and the staff was friendly, I just expected better quality at this price point.

Nice warm welcome. The food we ordered came out in a reasonable time. Hubby enjoyed his ribs which fell off the bone. My chicken tenders were crunchy but not much taste.

First time visitor. Atmosphere was amazing. Service was amazing. We ordered ribs, baked beans, chicken tenders, and tamales with a side of chili. Ribs were like any other commercial restaurant. No smoke flavor at all. Kind of disappointed. Baked beans were awesome. My daughter didn’t enjoy the tenders at all. The tamales were good and had flavor. Our waiter was extremely accommodating and patient. Overall experience will be a 5/10.
