I’ve been holding onto this review for a minute as I got choked up writing it 😢. Got to stop and try a fun new addition to our exemplary culinary choices, this one was in Mendocino, the Gnar Bar. It's in a great location that’s had many different choices in its history, I’m not sure any was more interesting. It was my last lunch with my boy before he left for college. As we entered we were greeted with an amazing selection of drink choices and I chose the milk tea. Next was the cold selection of ready made choices like seaweed salad, california rolls and more. Then comes the hot counter. I'm a corn fan and adored the cheese corn. The chicken sandwich was tasty too. They specially made the deep fried salmon roll for us, it was fresh and full flavored. The spam musubi was fantastic, my son's first experience with this dietary staple. It’s a great people watching spot. Great service, we will be back. Only in Mendocino

This spot is amazing. The owners are friendly and the food is top tier. Our kids even loved it! Lots of well made grab and go. This is 5 star across the board! A must go-to for quality poke bowls which was my favorite. BUT everything was amazing. So many fun obscure candies and bottled marbled sodas. We will make this a family stop every time we visit! Thank you all at Gnar Bar!

gnar bar is such a gem in downtown mendocino! we were welcomed by the friendliest staff who even gave my dog a treat upon walking in. i did not expect to taste such delicious asian food! they have shelves filled with imported asian snacks, beverages and side dishes if you need a quick bite to-go. highly recommend trying their sticky chicken wings and udon garlic noodles. everything was cooked fresh right before our eyes.

We first discovered Gnar Bar at the Mendocino Crab Cook-Off & Wine Tasting Competition and were so impressed that we made a special stop to try their ramen before heading back to SF. And wow—totally worth it! We ordered the Vegan Creamy Ramen, Miso Katsu Chicken Ramen, and Creamy Grilled Chicken Ramen, and each bowl was absolutely exceptional. The rich, flavorful broths and perfectly cooked toppings hit the spot, especially after a day of wine tasting. I also tried Spam Musubi for the first time, and it was a game-changer—so delicious! The food, the vibe, and the friendly service make this place a must-visit. Gnar Bar is officially our go-to whenever we’re in the area!

If you’re ever in Mendo gnar bar is a must go. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have so many yummy drinks and candies as well as their savory options. I love the pork and chicken dumplings and their hot chicken sandwiches but u honestly can’t go wrong with anything you order it’s guaranteed to be authentic delicious and filling. Mendocino needed a spot like this and as a local it’s great to have more varied options for lunch. They do grab n go and also make food to order. Thanks gnar bar u r the best!!!

Yum! So glad I stopped in Gnar Bar for lunch today. I wasn’t sure if they’d have much vegetarian food but I was pleasantly surprised by the multiple options. Healthy, fresh, fast and super friendly service. All with an ocean view! Definitely a great choice for a bite in Mendo.

Excellent visit. Early in the day, I had the Ahi Poké bowl. The fish was very fresh, tasty, and fantastic. Being right on the ocean I expected the quality of the fish to be top notch. I was not disappointed. My dish was freshly made at the time of order, rummy, the presentation was top notch, and I was immensely pleased. We returned for dinner and the experience was more of the same. My wife got the vegan ramen and I got the spicy wings. Yep, goodness to go. We ate while watching the sunset

Cozy comforting ramen on a cloudy day. Now who could resist that. I certainly couldn’t. We are vegetarians and were delighted to see there were options for us in all sections (rolls, ramen etc.). The restaurant itself was small and had limited seating perched to the walls for dine-in. We took a Veggie Roll and Veggie Ramen. While veggie roll was ordinary, the ramen was really really good. Refreshing broth with spinach noodles and fresh veggies. Couldn’t have a better meal!

Everything we ordered here was SO delicious. We got the Tonkotso ramen and it was incredible. We are huge ramen fans and are picky about what we like, and this absolutely met every standard of ours. We tried the Spam Muisibi, which was also a hit, and my kids were thrilled with the pot stickers. 10/10 recommend stopping by here!

It was 10:20am, we made a stop for food and only few places were open because most of them are open since 11am only. This place as well is opening since 11 but I just take a luck with asking them if they can serve earlier because we were very hungry and don’t want to stay in line in other cafes for 30min just to sit and they were ready to help me with the food. We took 2 poke with tuna/combo and it was incredibly fresh any tasty. Each ingredient was juicy, full of flavor and 1 more time I should say that it was reallyyyy fresh! Everything is clean. Recommending this place for fresh fish and friendly staff.

This a small eatery, ideal for takeout. But, you could also sit on bar stools and enjoy your meal with a partial view of the ocean. The food was very good, I thought of doing a take away next day but was unable to do so. We chose to dine in. We tried the spicy tuna roll and the vegan ramen with shrimp tempura. Both were good and they were generous with the tempura - 4 pieces.

We enjoyed a poke bowl and teriyaki chicken here—both fresh and delicious, just as shown in the pictures. We visited last year and couldn’t resist coming back this year. The food is consistently great, and the staff is friendly and super helpful with recommendations for places to visit and nearby bars. Absolutely love this spot!

A traveler visiting a local spot. It's a pain to find food on the road that has gluten free options available. Found this gem, checked out the reviews and decided to try it out at least once. My partner and I ordered our food and she informed the gentleman of wanting gluten free noodles instead of the usual noodles. He went above and beyond at double checking what specifically she was allergic to and what level of sensitivity. He was a sweetheart and made her safe with the decisions she made. My partner hasn't had ramen in 10 years and she loved the finished product❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you so much for an awesome dinner

Sleeper hit! Poke bowl was 10/10 (ahi, spicy), salmon roll very fresh. Great fast option.

Very delicious meal with fresh ingredients! We ordered a comforting miso chicken ramen & spicy salmon poke bowl, and would probably order again. The only thing that knocked down points is there was a hair in the ramen.

I’m not sure if the people who gave high reviews have ever had Ramen, a cup of noodles has better flavor. I wish I had a cup of noodles. I spent $40 bucks to only eat 2 spoonfuls of disappointment. I order 2 miso ramens and order the protein that was $6 more for just a few slivers of old dry chicken. I’m so sad that I spent my money here. No bathroom.
