I have been coming here for over 10 years and it is the best sushi I’ve ever had. Fresh fish and perfect rice. House salad is very good . My recommendations after getting to know most of the menu are the following: - Pacific roll - No rice roll - Ceviche Asaka Style - Hamachi Jalapeño 10/10 will never disappoint
Cozy atmosphere, music not too loud. Great place to sit and chat and eat inexpensive (But absolutely delicious!) sushi! Seriously amazing. As a sushi lover living in Miami where you can barely find a spicy tuna roll under $15, this place is the best. I will be a repeat customer!
Delicious sushi! Perfect service. A wide selection on the menu. I highly recommend reading the menu carefully. I ended up with green onions in my rolls because I wasn’t paying attention 😁 interesting taste…
Great food and with good portions and pricing was not bad! The service was quick and didn't wait long in between the appetizer and the entree. The beer was served with a chilled mug 🍺 👌. I unagi with rice and also had the baby squid and miso soup! Again good food and served great! Will def come back again!!
Very good service, fast and polite. Sushi taste great so as all appetizers. Kids enjoyed, too. Affordable prices for a good quality place. Big list of menu choices.
Everything we ordered had a great flavor. Loved the sushi! Will definitely go back again.
We were warmly greeted immediately. This was our first visit and we were given some great suggestions. I had the Florida Roll and a Caterpillar Roll. Both were tasty. For the entrée I had the Grill Teriyaki Salmon it was delicious. And ended the meal with Fried Cheesecake and Hot Tea. The service was excellent, food great. I shall return.
My bf and I come here all the time. There's plenty of sushi options, and they all are fresh and presented beautifully. It definitely feels like a hidden gem here. Their chicken katsu is literally the best I've ever had, and their green salad, which we always start with, is amazing. The shrimp gyoza is super good. Love this place ♡
All-around excellent sushi place. I've been coming here for years; the service is excellent and the servers are friendly. The food is always top-notch both in quality and deliciousness. When I go to eat sushi anywhere else, Asaka is the bar at which I measure all other Japanese cuisine.
Gone with my girlfriend a few times now already, the atmosphere is always nice, dark with warm lighting. Service is usually prompt even when busy, and the waiters and waitresses always give top notch attention. I've been to some Japanese restaurants that were a little too intimidating for my taste, but the presentation at Asaka always gives us a menu and seating where I can feel I have privacy to ask questions, experiment, and have a nice little romantic meal.
Have been eating here for years and have never been disappointed in any way. Food is always fresh and delicious, the staff is attentive and friendly. If you're in the Aventura area you'd be doing yourself a disservice not eating here. Ps. Get their dragon, biscaya, os spicy tuna sandwich rolls for the sushi lovers. Fantastic.
Had a great time with family. Waitress was really accommodating to us by taking the orders by couples/families. Tonkatsu was really good, and most of the sushi was good with some that lack of little flavor. Just forgot to ask for eel sauce for the sushi.
The atmosphere was amazing and such a cute place for dinner given the modern aspects. The portions are more than enough and the bulgogi was delicious!! Not to mention our waiter, Api, was so friendly and attentive.
I was there a few times after I discovered this hidden gem. I like rolls and they have a huge selection comparing to other sushi places in the area. Prices are very cheap for the quality. Try tempura bagel roll, best 7$ spent! Service as mentioned is hit or miss, our waitress completely forgot about us one time.
Asaka is A+++! I ordered takeout this evening, this was my first time and I must say their sushi blows the other places out of the water. I had the Caterpillar roll and the Pacific and they were so fresh, soft and simply amazing. Although I had takeout, upon entering the restaurant to pick up my order, the place was very clean and organized. The staff was very nice as well, all making sure all was done correct. I will return as soon I have the chance.
Don't live near here anymore but I was in the area for work. Still among the best and freshest sushi I've ever had. Ruined my normal place back in Tampa for me for a few weeks I think.
My absolute favourite sushi restaurant in the area! Amazing staff and chefs and consistently fresh fish. My go-to items r the jalapeño yellowtail sashimi, the spicy tuna tacos, and the fried bananas. Honestly I crave their sushi daily and always look forward to going back.
Hard to find good sushi in South Florida, but this place has it. We had nigiri, mixed sashimi, a volcano roll, shrimp gyoza, grilled calamari. Fried bananas and fried cheese cake for dessert. All of it was fantastic. Everything was extremely fresh. Prep area behind the bar was aggressively clean. Will come here again.
Went with my fiance to have sushi, very casual, but with an authenic Japanese look--including the gentleman making sushi. All the rolls were decent size. Two general types they have: seaweed inside or seaweed outside. The sizing is related to that. Service was pleasant and great.
Great local sushi place. I have eaten here many times over the years, as Asaka has been here for over 25 years. That in itself should say everything you need to know! The food is always fresh and delicious, quality is top notch, staff are always fast and friendly, and the location is convenient. Parking is easy; Asaka is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of spots. Whether dining in or taking out, if sushi is what you are in the mood for, this is the place to eat in Aventura.
I have been coming here for years. It is one of the best Japanese restaurants in south Florida! The staff is quick, polite and tries to do their best at satisfying the customer's requests. Also the quality of the food is exceptional!
The food was amazing.. The sushi bar was my favorite.. Very fresh!! The Sushi chefs.. especially Benny... was very helpful, well knowledged and had us all laughing.. great customer service.. recommend to all and we are all definitely going back!!!!
First time guest, excellent sushi and equally good service. Sat at the sushi bar and was amazed how busy they were, yet easy to understand with the great rolls. Will be back for sure!
What a wonderful restaurant. It is one of those things that you keep looking forward to. I probably am not a sushi expert but have been eating it for over 20 years across the world and US (not in Japan yet), mostly at modest restaurants. I’ve never had a better experience elsewhere. Sushi mori deluxe and hamachi w/ jalapeño are my favorites.
Best local sushi spot!!! Tastes like New York and very fairly priced. Love it!!!
Great service, sometimes can be slow. But, hey there! Food is REALLY GOOD and prices are not too bad. You definitely should visit this place and it’s really worth it, trust me. Menu has a lot of things to offer. Cute and cozy Japanese atmosphere and workers are friendly. It’s really worth to wait 15-20 minutes for your food, one of my favourite restaurants in Miami
Was referred from a friend to come over here ! A great place very nice dynamic recommend coming here if you’re in the area ! Super affordable too
I think Asaka is one of my most favorite Japanse food places because of I love the Ramune and Catapiller roll
We are sushi afficionados. Had sushi many times in NYC, San Diego, Chicago, Tokyo. Obviously by far tokyo has been the best out of everything including the price. If you want to have a good tasting miami sushi, you have to pay $$$$ just to get close to Tokyo level. We have tried a lot of places in miami Bal harbor, brickel, Coral gables, we got what we paid for $$$$. We have tried sushi in so many places like Hollywood, Aventura, Hallandale, Fort Lauderdale and again this is only for people who know sushi. Asaka has the best quality for the lowest price. Asaka is a gem for the locals. If you happend to be visiting and you know about sushi. I recommend you Asaka.
This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Aventura. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of the food is outstanding. The restaurant tends to get quite busy, so I recommend arriving early or making a reservation, especially if you're dining with a group of four. I particularly enjoy sitting at the bar, where I can watch the sushi chefs at work and sample the daily specials. It's always a treat!
came upon this place by accident a few weeks ago. Had to try it. You know I love my sushi. Went on a Friday after work. Around 7pm of course it was crowded. Sat at the bar. Staff very friendly ordered edamame, dragon roll and the volcano roll both awesome. I recommend doing yourself a favor and going here.
Casual restaurant with quality food and fresh fish. The menu offers a large variety of dishes. Reasonably priced and great for a relaxed meal with diverse options.
This place has amazing sushi, one of the best in the area. We as a whole family go there at least once a week and lap so many take outs. 5 stars all the way !!!!
Our Server name Liz was excellent. She noticed I was sick and offered to bring me ginger and lemon. Then at the end, even gave us the weather for the night, suggesting to stay in and get better. Very detailed and attentive to our needs. We will be back. Thank You
Very delicious food in comparison to other Japanese restaurants it was very fresh too. I found the place that I will gladly eat sushi in. I recommend it!
Very friendly staff. All the time. Simple but comfortable decor. The sushi are excellent and very affordable. The cooked food is now excellent as well. I LOVE the "grilled salmon Teriyaki"...
I've been coming here since high school, and that's what 12+ years?! Brah, the best food. I've brought friends and family, and they all loved it. The ramen, sushi, salad, fried rice, and more. Update 2024: The food is still amazing, and the staff is great. I used to eat the dragon and shrimp tempura roll, but I'm in love with the sunrise, tropical, and spicy tuna. 10/10
We walked in very late one evening and they couldn't have been nicer at 9pm. Had good rolls and a nice server made us feel comfortable.
This is my first time coming here and WOW what a fantastic place. Yumiko is an absolute treasure, and wonderful person. The food is wonderful, authentic, flavorful, and best of all greatly priced! I highly recommend this Asaka and encourage you to try some new things! We will definitely be coming back!
I love it. First visit after eight years. I don’t know what it is… seeing the owner smile, and energetic to be there, the clean atmosphere and respectful employees. The sushi station (I don’t know the proper term) is clean and tidy. The restaurant is the same as I remember. Has a homie feel to it. If you’re looking for great food and a cozy atmosphere I highly recommend it. I wish the owners and their team continued success. May God bless you!
I have been coming here for 20 years. Great food and quality they have the best spicy tuna sandwich. The stuff are always kind and inviting overall always a great experience
Have been hearing about this spot for a year now and finally decided to try it - so happy we did. Absolutely incredible, freshest fish, great service, 10/10. Their spicy tuna sandwich is phenomenal and so is their scallop roll dynamite roll. Also got salmon avocado which was delicious and fresh as well. Super friendly and attentive staff. Can’t wait to come back.
Delicioso!!! Lo recomiendo. El arroz frito es buenísimo.
Excelente sushi. Vale la pena 100%
There are many Japanese restaurants around in South Florida. This one is within the Aventura area. This is our second time there. The location is convenient. They are usually busy throughout the week. The restaurant is a little small but good enough. The place is clean with nice Japanese style atmosphere. The people are always helpful and friendly. The foods are always fresh and yummy. The menu has a good amount of variety. The price is around the same at the Aventura area. We definitely recommend others. We gave them 9.5 out of 10 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This location has good lunch specials and the food is tasty. It's not the most authentic Japanese location in Miami, but if you're in the Aventura area, you'll fix your sushi craving here. The hot sake is always aromatic and good, and their beers are kept cold. We like their edamame and tempura veggies to start.
Best of the best local sushi ! For the locals and for tourist recommended. Everything is super delicious fresh and cheap! This is by far the cheapest sushi place in north Miami Beach . They did raise prices on everything from what I know the rolls are up by $2 or 3 but definitely still afortable and super good. I won’t give 5 stars because we are in Miami and to much amazing sushi places to compete with. This is a basic sushi place but with lots of options . if your looking for amazing service , cozy homey atmosphere and cheap sushi spot come here you won’t be disappointed, my favorite is OJ roll, Tuna sandwich roll and tuna nacho . Fried rice here is really good as well! Miso soup is also good.
Amazing sushi joint! The sushi is super fresh and every bite melts in your mouth. The lights of the restaurant gives a dark and mysterious effect which makes a nice experience. The only thing that need improvement is the service. Felt a little like a nuisance every time I asked for something.
I'm new to sushi. The service was great . The food was very presentable. I just think sushi is overrated..I like cooked food with more flavor than soy & wasabi.[but thats just me]
First time here. The Ambiance is cozy and has a warm feeling to it. The sushi, I order a tropical roll and it was pleasantly good. My daughter ordered New World roll and that was very tasty. We also ordered the spicy conch. The conch was too thick. But foe me it was on. Overall id rate 4 stars and ill go back for seconds.
I forgot to take pics but for my first time I truly enjoyed it I got the vegetable tempura, spring rolls and eggplant miso definitely recommend the eggplant miso tender and flavourful.! I’d come again check them out has tradition in it, the food and it is cozy.
A little pricey, but I always enjoy what I order. A nice place to go if you want to splurge on some good sushi or soup. The salads are not as great, but the spring rolls are definitely worth trying!
Nothing outstanding about this location. It is your typical Asian fusion with sushi. The lunch specials are of a good value as this place does not seem to be very busy at lunch time during the week. The teriyaki sauce is a little bit heavy on the sugar and the grilled salmon is a tail piece and very thin.
Delicious fresh sushi. Large menu with a wide selection of nigiri and special rolls. Sit at the sushi bar for an authentic experience. Take out also available
The place is clean and staff are very friendly but dishes are so so… too salty and rolls are very basic and ordinary.
Dishes are good at a reasonable price. The service is exceptional which is a plus. A variety of sushi and California rolls and so forth is on point. The only bad side is that for some rolls such as the salmon avocado roll, pieces of salmon weren't fresh as I came across one that had a very bad taste. Overall a good Sushi place.
The sushi was very good, but my girlfriend had the cod fish which was not great and was served in a pretty poor manner. The service was pretty slow and we had to wait a long time for our food to be served. I really liked the sushi so I'll be back, but my girlfriend will probably not join me...
Asaka is barely above average as a Japanese restaurant. After the pandemic most restaurants increased their prices because of the pandemic. Asaka in many instances almost doubled the prices. Even the most expensive plates like sushi sashimi de luxe does not offer real quality fish. All that said it is still better than the competition around the aventura Hallandale area.
This Japanese place is in Aventura, Florida. It is a very small, nice little hideout. Sushi is ample, with a variety of selections. Drinks are few, but decent. There are also the soups and other combinations you can choose from, including the desserts. There are times such as Friday and Saturday nights, where the place is just full and it has its merits. Location is a big plus, because you avoid the congestion of Aventura and there is plenty of parking in the mall. Food is decent. I recommend it for a person who is ready to go, eat, and get ready to rest.
A completely forgettable dining experience. Not in the mood for cold food, I went for something fried and something meaty, sliced. Everything was okay. Just okay, maybe my sensors were off that evening. The food I ate was almost flavorless. Needed soya sauce in hand. Best things: service is nice, attentive, and knows how to serve sake; best of all was the way they serve sake which was high quality. I sure hope the place looks better in the day because to me, that dining room is dreary. Prices are fair for what you get.
Liz is the best server you could ever ask for! So nice, attentive, & knows the menu. Busser made sure our table was always clean. Sushi roll was amazing. Tempura veggies was only 3 pieces of vegetables. Should b a lot more bigger pieces. And potstickers are not dumplings too very different things.
As a frequent patron of Japanese cuisine, I recently visited Ásaka Japanese restaurant with moderate expectations. While the service was commendable and truly stood out, I found the overall dining experience to be somewhat lackluster. The menu boasted a variety of dishes, yet the flavors failed to leave a lasting impression. While the ambiance was pleasant, it didn't quite elevate the dining experience as I had hoped. As an avid enthusiast of Japanese cuisine, I believe there is ample room for improvement in the execution of the dishes. With some refinement and attention to detail, Ásaka has the potential to elevate itself to a higher standard within the Japanese dining scene.
There were fish bones. The rice is not like sushi rice, falling apart even before you take it. Salmon skin doesn’t taste good. Was taking it all to go, but they didn’t put no spicy mayo, no eel sauce.
After I made a take out order and I been told it will be ready by 30 they made me wait 30 more minutes at the restaurant and the food was not ready so after an hour of waiting I just left and the staff was very rude and also I have been there a few times before it’s always taking them more then 40 minutes to make the food
I order pick up and gave me the wrong order
We were so excited to come here and we were so disappointed. The ambiance is not good . It was so tight . The server doesn’t know the menu . Every time we asked her about the menu she said she don’t know . The food was so tasteless . Teh sushi we ordered was no good . The grilled salmon Kama was horrible. It was fried , oily and no flavor and the miso eggplant was so tasteless . The sweet shrimp was just deep friend and no flavor . And the worst was we waited for so long for the food … We asked to talk to the manager . He or she never came .
This used to be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants even though I live 40 minutes away. Today it is no longer on my list of places to come. Our server was acting as if we were a bother to him and barely answered any of our questions. Upon saying how salty the soup was, he said “oh, you don’t want it?” and took it away instead of offering a replacement. The miso soup was pure salt, the fried rice had frozen veggies (we were told they were fresh) and drenched in oil and my favorite dish, salmon teriyaki, looked nothing like it did other times. It wasn’t grilled, it wasn’t seasoned and the sauce wasn’t their typical delicious sauce but a bottled tasting sauce. I felt ignored the entire time and after looking around, realized there was only one difference between us and the rest of the diners. My skin color. A huge disappointment to say the least.
Great restaurant and amazing food but that's not all when you have a rest... Staff are kind of rude (the hostes)! And that's sad... Employees tarnish the reputation of a restaurant. All clients are worth the same. Employees should not prefer one client over the other or have preferences.
Crazy roll is disgusting. They put all the leftovers there. Chicken katsu wasn't a chicken. You couldn't even bite the meat. No good. Never going back
They are not knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. I was very clear that I do not eat fish. They served me a veggie roll....with a fish sauce. I ate a couple pieces before I realized it. Thankfully I am not deathly allergic. If you have dietary restrictions, I would avoid this place.
The food wasn't as described. The most basic sushi roll (volcano roll) was made wrong and the quality and quantity of each roll very poor. The imitation krab tasted very strange. Overall experience was not good.
The sushi is nothing special to say the least. The rolls are basic and poorly made. Plus the owner is greedy trying to charge $1 for every sauce after I placed a $120 sushi order. Don’t be cheap! Don’t be greedy! Get with the program 😤👎🏼
Too pricey for such average food that does NOT even taste fresh!! Also, the service is TERRIBLE! The waiters are extremely rude. When my wife told our waiter that she didn't like her food (she didn't eat it), our waiter simply said in a sassy tone "you still have to pay". I don't know why, but I decided to give this place a second chance and ordered for takeout. Again, the cashier was rude but I was expecting it... when I got home and opened the plate there was a HUGE BLACK HAIR across all the sushi. Disgusting!!!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!
Two years ago I said this place was extraordinary, today the disappointment leads me to remove all the stars. Horrible quality. Horrible that they put all the roles on a single tray, not even the wakame was saved with a not very chewy texture. I will never come back! I don't know if it changed ownership but this is incomprehensible.
Should look after your Google local listing and modify holiday hours. I drove all the way from North Miami to this place to find out it only opens at 4 PM on Christmas Day.
I was really disappointed with my visit. I simply asked for a small change to my order — nothing complicated and something they have done it before for me more than 10 times— and the staff flat-out refused without even trying to help or offer an alternative. The attitude was dismissive, and it felt like customer preferences didn’t matter at all. Restaurants should be about hospitality, but that was clearly missing here. They should put more attending to cleanliness.
I don’t know what happened to Asaka, but this place has completely fallen apart. I waited 40 minutes just to be served cold, disgusting food that I wouldn’t even feed to my dog. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but now it’s honestly unrecognizable. The quality is gone, the service is slow, and the food tastes like it’s been sitting out all day. I’m extremely disappointed and definitely won’t be coming back.
