Chef Chen Chinese Restaurant has loyal customers, some for over 10 years. The special fried rice is a favorite, praised for its consistent taste. Recent negative reviews mention a decline in food quality, possibly due to changes in the kitchen staff.
Tip: Consider ordering the special fried rice, a long-time customer favorite. Be aware that recent reviews mention inconsistent food quality.
Always always love coming here. These are my leftovers from last night because they give you a ton of food and a drink in the special combo meals. The sweet and sour and general tso’s chicken are so good. My husband and I spent less than $30 on 2 special combos with drinks, cream cheese wontons and the delivery fee! You won’t find prices and quality like theirs anywhere else.
This is one of the better choices for chinese take-out, if you are looking for more than the usual american-chinese fare. They have yangzhou fried rice and salt and pepper chicken/fish/scallops/shrimp just to name a few.
Best teriyaki chicken that I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing, the girls at the reception desk were very friendly and the place was very clean.
This place has lost it! Food was horrible and the ingredients made from the leftover food. I would not eat here again. I would not recommend this place. Stay away...😡❌️❌️❌️
Never disappoints always taste fresh and delicious, their cheese wontons are amazing! Service is really awesome too
I love this restaurant. Every time I drive down south I have to stop by and get something to eat ... they give great tasting foods with decent portions. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody that likes Chinese food .
Better than panda Express only has two locations but it is the best fast Chinese place for me. And they cook super quick and delicious I recommend the honey chicken and the sesame chicken.
Their food is very delicious. I have never been disappointed by anything I've ordered in this restaurant. They are my go-to place for Chinese food in my neighborhood.
This place is good!!! I can't complain except for the fact the food just took a little long. But I liked it I'd recommend it
Food was great, the service was awesome and delivery was immediate and respectful. Couldn't ask for anything else.
Great customer service very attentive food always on point And some of the best chicken wings I've ever ate.
The food was really good. The only thing I don’t like is when the races yellow but other than that everything was amazing.
I have been coming to this restaurant for over 16yrs and would not go to any other until now. If the parking lots doesn't get fixed with all the vans (imc healthcare) parked taking all the spaces from the customers and parents going to the park, I will not buy anything from here. I'm sorry.
Very good food. Nice lady taking orders. Short wait time for takeout orders.
Tasty Food , I Been Ordering Food From This Place for the past 5 Years . My Husband And I Love The Fried Chicken Wings And Fry Rice
Delivery only took 15mins the food was fresh and really good an the price was right! Definitely buying from you guys again!
We have been eating from Chef Chen for over 20 years. They are reliable and the food is good. My favorite meal has always been the Ribs & Wings Combination as well as the Chicken Lo Mein but definatelly like many others like the Honey Chicken, Cream Cheese Wontons, etc. Not a place to go out of your way for but definately recommend it for a quick meal over any Fast Food Restaurant.
Lately, their hot and sour soup have been really hitting the spot. The aromatics of the spices really complement the earthy flavors of the mushrooms and tofu. It’s spicy and savory pairs well with rice and the fried wontons.
Chef chen is very, very fresh with their food. It's always hot and fresh! The prices are good, and the staff is friendly. My daughter told me about Chef Chen at least six or more years ago, and I promise you, they are the only Chinese restaurant that I eat from! Highly recommended!
No frills, great Chinese-American food! Been getting food there for many years... they also speak Spanish! Parking sucks because it's in front of public kids' playground and a daycare. So be patient.
The food here is great and quite affordable too. I get the seasame chicken and sweet n sour chicken special combination and they taste great! The quantity and portions of the food is excellent and the menu offers so many different food options making each order or visit worth the while.
They have great prices for the combos or individual. I have been coming here for 10 years already and they never disappoint at least the items that I bought they always had the same quality.
Best Chinese Spot Down south by far. Food is awesome and portions are worth the money and more. This is not PF Changs so i dunno why people complain bout the service. Its your regular Chinese corner spot get your food and go!!! i order from here 3 to 4 times a week and Food Quality is what matters. They do need more workers i believe cuz popular corner is pretty overwhelming IMO. Highly recommend it
The food is great, wait is a little on the long side (15-30min) so its not a good place to go during lunch break but as a later dinner meal or after work dinner its perfect, the food is always fresh which is always a plus. The employees have a strong accent but they do their best to please you.
Food is good, portions are generous and prices are very fair, especially when compared to other takeout places. Service is fast and the staff is friendly.
The food always satisfies me every single time there was never a time I was displeased with a meal. The fried chicken is always juicy. Fried rice is always delicious. My favorite is the wonton soup & the special fried rice. 10/10. very affordable yet the quality is very good. Great job chef chen.
Chef Chen's my favorite Chinese delivery place! Everything on the menu is great; when ordering from the website, you can customize the spice level of most items, too. A few of my favorites are the Hunan lo mein, the General Tso's chicken, the orange beef, and the wonton egg drop soup. It usually takes a little over an hour to arrive at my home in Cutler Bay, and it's always hot and fresh.
I had posted a bad review but it was meant for the Grand China Restaurant not this one. I actually really like this Chef Chen Restaurant! They make me a special tofu dish! I will give this restaurant 5 stars!! Sorry for the mistake. I will recommend this place! I like it!!
Great people the food is amazing feels like home
This place doesnt get enough credit, the food is amazinggg and a very reasonable price(cheapest chinese ive had) the pepper steak is delicious and so are the fried chicken wings!
The best Chinese rice in all of Miami; always fresh and delicious. Excellent service and on time.
Honey Garlic chicken and chicken drumsticks 😋 delicious. Great prices and good customer service.
Ordered food from here for years. Now they are rude and hang up the phone on you when ordering because they don't want to do their job. Go to peters kitchen better food and service and will accommodate your order.
I ordered the sesame chicken combination platter that comes with fried rice and a drink and it was an amazing value. The fried rice was not mushy and fresh. Big portion.
Very good food and the wings are the best I've ever had. Crispy with the perfect amount of sauce. Everything was hot and fresh and very tasty. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 is because it would have to be a Michelin 5 star restaurant with shef Ramsey in it. I loved the food and would definately go back. So many options theres no way I wouldn't go back. Did I mention the wings were amazing!! :)
When I want Chinese food I come here , The food is always great , good customer service ,I always enjoy coming here and highly recommend it.
Been going here forever, place is great, quick, and reasonably priced. Also they generous with their servings.
I had a great experience the food was amazing will recommend
My go to for Chinese food take out. Always end up satisfied
Say what you want but this place is awesome Great food great service great prices and in the neighborhood
Great customer service. Awesome flavors. Moderate prices. Only suggestion would be to use more sauce. Can be just a tad dry
Good food, price is alright. special fried rice and honey chicken is fine. They were a little slow a few months ago probably because of the high demand but they have improved. Just call to order and go pickup in 10 - 20 minutes or have it delivered.
Been going to this place for years and there quality has been declining slightly hope everything is okay. I will continue to order food here but hopefully the quality of food doesn't get worse because I love this place
My go to for quick&fast service! Order from here atleast 2-3 times a monthly. Love the chicken teriyaki. Can be too salty sometimes though! Always get the vegetable fried rice in the Tray! Good value and they load up that tray!!! Been ordering here for years!
The food is consistently good however, there is a new amusement park next door which is attracting lots of people and the perfect environment for hold ups. While my wife waited for me to pick up our order she saw an elderly lady get held up and had her head cracked opened with a bottle. The thief took her purse and her shoes. No one helped the poor lady who laid on the floor bleeding. I called police and helped her up when I saw her laying there. The food is always fresh but the parking lot is a dangerous place. Be very careful if you go.
I enjoy the food here and service but they need to do something about the outside dumpster area. It looks gross, to the point I almost didn't pick up my food. I've ordered there before and it was clean out there, idk what happened this time.
Good Taste; good Price ; tasted good; hot Food( taken it Home 5 Minutes away) and a clean little Restaurant where you sit to enjoy;;. I must remove 2 Stars - from 5 to 3;; because last Week we went again and I visit the Restroom - but the Restroom is not really clean. A lot of Dust at the Wall and Dust at the Holder from the Toilettepaper - the Whole Room need a clean Upgrade. But my first Review - 11 Month ago - about the good Food is still current and correct.
It doesn't matter anytime that I order online it takes two to three hours to get my food if the food comes
The food is generally some of the best Cantonese in Miami and delivery is usually hot & on time BUT employees handling phones are RUDE and even though they charge a DELIVERY FEE the DRIVERS ASK FOR TIPS ! SOMEBODY IS GETTING SCREWED HERE ! ! !
Food is good but they always take forever with their online orders and when I call in to see what is going on, they never know anything about the online orders 🙄 other than that food is great .
I’m an old customer and always ask for the same thing , but today I ask for ribs BBQ and OMG !!!!! Disgusting 🤢 I hope they doing better moving forward The fried rice, the sweet and sour chicken and the won tong was super good as always but the ribs 🤢
Ordered about $75 worth of food for a party of about 12… The food portion was great for the price, considering we ordered large portions of rice and meats. We got the chicken fried rice platter which IMO was not that good. It smelled heavy of peanut which I think may have been an excess of sesame oil. The honey garlic chicken was my favorite of all the meats we ordered. We also ordered, pepper steak, general tsos and sweet/sour chicken. All good too. I had to take 2 stars for the rice cuz it was that bad and it’s always my favorite part. Also, they could do better on their spring rolls. They were smaller than lumpia’s.
I've eaten a lot of Chinese takeout over the years. The food quality was not good. Go somewhere else or you'll waste your money.
We just got to the front and the front desk girl happened to be gone to the bathroom. So one of the back chinese ladies from the back came to help but right in front of me she called the front desk girls attention in an unprofessional way. I felt bad for the girl " cant even use the restroom??"" Beside this food its good and good prices
They did not have chow fun. They would not take an order over the phone. The food taste very good but they did not put enough shrimp in the shrimp lo mein.
Great food with terrible service. I get put on hold for 5 minutes at a time and when I received my delivery they forgot my drink. I order again and they refuse to give me an extra drink for when they forgot.
The place is good when it wants to be it is as they have different cooks Iva had like 3 bad encounters from the delivery man not finding my house and making me walk outside in the rain etc .. I absolutely hate the manager the lady always says we will no longer deliver there just because I complain to try to help her fix her business .. food gets here cold they should invest in a bag to keep the food warm ..and there delivery guys are always asking for tips
Not the same since the pandemic- nothing tastes fresh , even the egg rolls are smaller, greasier and are all cabbage
I swear chef Chen must have died years ago because the food here keeps heading downhill. Especially the fried rice. If you know how to make fried rice correctly you'll know yours is probably better. There seems to be no Chinese restaurant in this town that makes a decent fried rice... And I've been searching. Second, you're never greeted here. If you're gonna take my money the least you can do is say "hello my I help you" third, that unpleasant half glass half wooden wall riddled with graffiti. That went up when COVID started, I guess to protect themselves from COVID yet they're not wearing any masks when preparing my food. Fourth, not only here but everywhere, we get less for our money. The combination platters no longer include an egg roll yet the prices keep going up. And last but not least, not only here but everywhere as well they get the orders wrong. The customer before me asked for pork fried rice and he got ham instead, i'm guessing they figured...close enough.
Rice was yellow which is weird for friend rice but tasted alr. the general tso chicken was something like i never had before in the worst way possible, it was not even a general tso chicken like at other restaurants it was straight up barbecue mixed with other stuff, i had stomach pains and threw up after eating here, in general I wouldn’t eat here again or recommend to anybody unless i dislike the person deeply.
Price is not consistent, raised by 80 cents. Quality of food is not that great. Owner is a rude individual! This place gets 2 stars because of the nice receptionist girl works at the front desk; other than that, this place is not going to satisfy your crave for Chinese food. Better quality Chinese food is at Gold China restaurant.
Pricey for a chinese joint, the food is ok but a little pricey, i ordered the special fried rice , the 'big' one and it was barely enough for 4 people to eat. We ended up having to order pizza afterwards. Check the size of the food you are getting before ordering
If I could give zero stars I would. I literally live one block away from this place and rather travel somewhere else than order with them. Over the years the business has changed FOR THE WORSE. The chicken wings are fried so freaking hard you need a pair grip pliers You eat them. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my worse enemy. Take your business somewhere else. Ok allow me to credit them for replacing the chicken wings with a fresh, much better batch of wings. Thank you for providing satisfaction .
The food is good but the service is a 0 because i normally spend 30 to make a order over the phone .
Food was good but the service is horrible. The manager there is very unprofessional.
Pork Egg Foo Yong was dark, dark brown, hard around the edges, considered burnt, they saw nothing wrong with it. Told me the gravy did it... How so when the gravy is separated at purchase. The cook is horrible. I have gotten egg Foo Yong from there plenty of times. Something changed after the Covid. The cook said ooh we use dark grease, well that can't be good..🙄🙄
Until recently we would order from this place. The guy that answers the phone "Humberto" is absolutely terrible. No customer service, no etiquette whatsoever. Even though I personally like the food here "my hubby disagrees and prefers the food from Great Wall China instead lol", this guy just needs to be fired. He is loosing this business so much money.
The pepper steak was raw,the peppers just from the bag to the plate..the steak has old taste..the fry wonton can be smaller by then you have to go to the smurf town...en fin....a desaster...I font recomend you to waste yout money...
And today we order for the office, a year later and RICE IS HORRIBLE, using parboiled rice for fried rice is the worse idea...sorry, so not recomend it... They may change owner and chef, the food is not the same, the meat is hard, the Mongolian Beef is more like vegetables with steak....I hope they get better.
The manager of this place needs some basic training in customer service. Went for lunch almost every Friday and they always gave me beef instead of chicken, one day I said enough and demanded a refund and the refund was denied. The manager said that she could not proof I was not saying the truth. Horrible experience.
Horrible service had to wait over a hour and a half for my delivery. When my food got here found dead ants in my pork lomein. When i called to complain they told me that i was lying. Don't recommend not even to my worst enemy what so ever.
Ordered shrimp fried rice and other items. The shrimp fried rice had more onions/burnt eggs than shrimp! Never again.
This place used to be so good. It’s a shame the food isn’t what it used to be. Not much more to say really. Won’t be going back.
Horrible customer service. Called to place an order, I said my phone number 4 times loud and clearly, she apparently couldn’t understand and kept repeating same wrong numbers. Then she just put the phone down and hung up. Horrible.
I call Chef Chen restaurant on Friday May 28, 2021 to place my order for my Lunch"I order the chicken nuggets w/ chicken fried rice I went to pick up my order when I sat down to enjoy my Lunch it was good at al" I order this Combo all the time I even order springs rolls w/this combo
If I could give a zero I would, we waited forever for our food and when it got here it was cold. We called the driver and told him and he says “call the restaurant” then clicks on me and when I call back he doesn’t answer. Then I call the restaurant and no one answers either. This is completely unprofessional and horrible behavior to a frequent customer. I’m just left in shock.
Don’t you ever order from this restaurant, food is old , stinking, cold & hard to eat , is you don’t want to get sick don’t order from This guys. They were closed by the city last year
We had order ham fried rice but when we got back to the house they gave us shrimp and my mother is allergic to shrimp and she could have died DO NOT COME HERE!!!! They will mess your order up
I consistently have to remind them that they forgot the extra egg rolls for my son. Lady says sure credit next time. I called to order and remind them, hey remember you forgot the eggs rolls again and i called to let you know. She actually argued that it shows on the receipt. I tried to explain,,no your driver did deliver 4. He delivered 2.. not worth it, the argument or my blood pressure. Called Magic Wok. They lost me.
I placed an order, and I went over the order with them 3 times, and I still received the wrong order. I called to have it replaced since I could not eat it, and all they said was we would give you a credit. I asked to have my correct order delivered since I had already paid for it and they said I would have to wait almost 1 hour to get it, even though they made the mistake, and the credit was a store credit not even a refund. I don't recommend to order from them since the customer service is the worst.
The food was very bland. I've had better Chinese food at hole in the walls. I ordered the Mongolian beef & barely got any beef; it was mainly soggy vegetables in a brown sauce that had no flavor. I only went to this place because it received almost 4 stars, by it was far from it. I don't like leaving negative reviews but the truth has to be said
This place is horrible, they delivered the wrong food and when you get a hold of them all they would say is we need to speak to the person that took the order and will call you back with an outcome and in the meantime the rest of the food is getting cold and they absolutely don’t care and truly don’t care of fixing they error, an hour has passed by and no answer and no call back.
Hair in food! Terrible customer service! I loved this restaurant growing up, but management has turned me away indefinitely. There was a hair found in my nephew's food as he was eating. The manager on duty named "Linda" is so disrespectful and rude, yelling and calling me a liar on several occasions. She refused to refund because the food was already partially eaten!!! She kept offering another plate as if he or anyone would want another plate from this unhygienic restaurant! Linda refused to give me contact information for her superiors, stating at one point that she would have to contact her "attorney" in order to do so! I'm not even upset over the refund or the food anymore, my issue is the HORRIBLE customer service from the MANAGER!! Is this how Chef Chen treats their customers? How dare she!
I had a horrible experience at Chef Chan.... Let me explain why, first off it took me literally 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone so I could place my order secondly, the egg rolls tasted as of they were refried and my rice was cold. I was not a satisfied with the service or did that this restaurant provides therefore I give them a 1 star! Sorry just being honest.
General chicken, very over cooked , sauce was way to thick cashier wasn’t friendly at all. Not a great experience at all
I ordered some fried chicken wings and found feathers all over the chicken!!! I was so grossed out and a few hours later i caught some type of stomach bug!!! Don't buy food from this restaurant unless you want feathers in your chicken and stomach aches !! The only pro about it is that at least i know its actual chicken.
Since the restaurant was sold to a different owner, the foot is not the same
Food was terrible, I will never eat there again YUCK!!
I placed a food order over the phone for some ham fried rice . Get to the location get home and started eating the rice .. luckily I turned on the camera and discovered they had given me something I can't smell and I'm immediately allergic to Shrimp fried rice!!! This is unacceptable they would have killed me if I didn't catch there slip up How do u mistake a H for an S When you get your food please check it They will never get my money
Make sure you check your receipts and make sure when it clears your bank they don't add more to it. They got caught on 2 occasions by my family getting charged up to $20 more out of nowhere.
Unfortunately I too had a similar experience with the delivery driver adding $10 more to the total and she claiming that the person on the phone messed up the total when I never spoke to anyone on the phone to place the order. I did the order online. Luckily I saw the total before doing the payment and brought it to the delvery driver attention. She seemed really nice so its a shame. It ended up being the same total because I gave a $10 tip but see now that they were trying to scam as I see that other people had similar experiences. For now I would avoid this place til things change internally
Absolutely terrible service. They forgot two spring rolls from my order, then had the nerve to imply that we were lying about it. When they finally sent them out, the delivery driver showed up with the worst attitude and a face of a dog, upset that he had to fix their issue, we just wanted our food that we paid for. None of this was our fault, yet we were treated like an inconvenience. Horrible customer service from start to finish. Will never order from here again
I ordered Christmas Day thinking the food would be fresh and boy was I wrong. The food was not like it usually is good which was super disappointing. I had to throw out the chicken fried rice had no veggies and it had a pale yellow color like WTH! Chicken was all dark meat and smelled rotten. The honey chicken was hard and stale. The general tao chicken was all fried dough smothered in sauce . Super nasty is a decent way of describing yesterday’s order . Seemed like the staff or cooks were not happy to be working on Christmas Day and it was clearly reflected on the food.
It seems no matter what. How many times you ask for extra meat for the special fried rice regardless of $3 or $5, or even $6, they never put that in there. I'm very disappointed in this company. Because in the beginning, it was fine. And now new ownership is making it horrible, even though apparently it is old, buy the same family, it's just under new ownership. The quality of this food has gone. I'm very dumb now. I have to order From another company, that's 45 minutes away. But I have to say their food quality Is so much better? Then this company, how's they actually sell large sizes? Not the baby shrimp or the baby pork or anything that these people are using Keep in mind, I have found before with this company. A stick of some sort in my food. It was sharp. Thank God, I feel around my food. Before swallowing. Or chewing? This is my honest review of this company. I'd rather pay more And get better quality, then yeah, horrible quality.
I’ve been ordering from this restaurant for 15+ years, but it seems since the new management took over it has completely gone downhill. The food quality is terrible, the recipes have changed for the worse, and the taste is nothing like it used to be. Service has also dropped off. This place used to be one of the best, our go to for Chinese food but now it’s just disappointing.
Horrible reception two hours for delivery and the lady in the reception horrible costumer services I prefer don’t order again is she is there !!
I’ve been eating food from this place since I was a kid yesterday we decided to order fried rice, lo mein, boneless ribs and two shrimp egg rolls. I saw a post the other day how they’re under new management or something however i got my food and this ha never tasted like this. Everything was different from the original. Fried rice mushy not anywhere near good couldn’t finish it. Lo mein was soft like a soup and not the vegetables they always add. The spare ribs were alright but still the sauce wasn’t good either. Then the egg rolls tasted really fishy and weren’t the same either. Again it’s been years of me ordering from here, religiously every other week between me and my family and we were all disappointed. Some may like this but this new change is not for the better.
