Halfmoon Empanadas is highly rated for its delicious empanadas with a variety of sweet and savory fillings. Customers praise the fresh ingredients and friendly, fast service. It's a great spot for a quick bite, though seating is limited to a couple of outdoor tables.
Tip: Consider it for pick-up due to limited seating, or enjoy your empanadas at the outdoor tables.
True to its cult following, some of the best baked empanadas in Miami. They only make empanadas so you know they’re amazing. Vegetarian options available but stick to the traditional options with a twist. Spicy chicken isn’t that spicy, in fact I could have used more. Perfect choice to close with the pulled pork. The sweetness of the guava shines through and pairs so well. Easy. quick snack or lunch.
We stopped by Half Moon Empanadas and bought a dozen Empanadas to go. We got their chicken, beef and pulled pork plus the dessert ones: Hazelnut, Guava and Dulce de Leche. Yummy good!! We got 2 meals out of that batch. Easy parking, nice and clean inside, and friendly staff.
We ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese empanada it was delicious. Also the beef was excellent. Thank you for the great experience. Lady at the window was super sweet.
I thought they were DELISH. I ordered chicken, beef, spinach + cheese and the gaucho beef one. The chicken might have been my favorite. I did end up getting the guava and cheese but wasn’t impressed. The sauces were tasty too. My 17 month old LOVED his chicken empanada too.
Long wait for the empanadas and it's just a walk up window (no inside seating, minimal high top tables outside), plus very limited parking. But delicious! They are also stamp-labeled, which I particularly appreciate as a vegetarian.
We love this place! They have the best empanadas and chimichurri sauce in Florida. This is a must visit.
This place is a hidden gem! Although it isn't too hidden because it has tons of empanadas painted on the side and front of the building. My personal favorite empanadas in all of Miami. Baked perfectly! And insanely good cafe con leche (coffee with milk). I asked for half the amount of normal sugar and it's a big cup for the price. Two mouth-watering empanadas and coffee for less than $10! Best part is there is a really good car wash (Car Wash 305) in walking distance, so I normally plan my car washes to walk here and sit on the stools outside and relax.
Big taste out of this little shop. Their food is really good and I’m glad we stumbled across this place. Check them out for sure.
We stopped here on a whim late one night to have empanadas! They were great.
So exciting to get our weekly deliveries of empanadas. The quality, selection and delivery is always amazing. It's my family go to snack
This is prob one of the best Empanadas I’ve ever had and they fill you up. Lots of different ones to choose from your belly will be happy!
LOVED!!!! I went a couple of months ago but forgot the name! Now that I remember the name and location, will definitely be going back! Best empanadas I've ever had!!!!
Yummy, yummy empanadas! High recommend. They are also on UberEats which is convenient! Use code ptmtravel for $10 off your first UberEats order too!:)
The best empanadas in town 🙌 friendly service and fast ...
Super tasty and one of the least expensive meals I've had in Miami all week. Made me feel at home with personable service. Will be back
Best empanadas ever the young lady was so kind and was very nice
Spinach empanadas are the best. Meat ones just an 8 out of 10. I'll come back to try more! I strongly recommend these empanadas.
Just an open take out window in the hot sun, but we grabbed a variety of empanadas to take home and weren't disappointed. Fresh and delicious.
I was told if I have another empanada my diabetes would kill me...it was nice knowing you all.... I will always love you Carmen Flores, you and your faint smell of spicy chicken.
Delicious... tried them all. All winners. I suggest that you call ahead and then pick them up to eat elsewhere, as there is no place to eat there. OR use a food delivery service
Thank you so much...these empanadas were awesome. Great service! The owner prepared 51 empanadas so they could be brought back to Wilson, N.C. I appreciate all of the effort you put into making these..They hit the spot! They next time we take a road trip were making another trip to Florida for more.
Amazing Empanadas!!! Also an excellent costumer service, me and my family have been going through 79 street a year ago, and we will definitely keep going, the guy in the window , ask for him every time you go to eat empanadas, Marcos, always listens to our requests and makes us feel very comfortable. I highly recommend this place for you and your family , you will not be disappointed!!!!!!
Love the empanadas. Only problem is now the phone goes to corporate and I can’t order ahead by phone. Ordered today online and the order wasn’t ready because they didn’t notice my order coming in. Would love if you switched it back so I can just call ahead for my order.
I went to Half Moon the other day and the empanadas and customer service was amazing! I thought it a bit pricey, but with the purchase of 4 empanadas, you got a free drink, which offset the cost. I would totally recommend this place to all and it was cool how the actual emapandas were stamped to distinguish your order, you'll see what I mean when you go there.
These empanadas are dank! My favorite is combo 1 with spicy chicken. 2 emps, chips drink and sauce is like $10. Great value for the quality. Made fresh. Service is always speedy and friendly. Street parking if the lot is full. I'm here twice a week. SMH 😁
Can’t say enough great things about these delicious empanadas. I’ve visited many times, always super high quality. I’m partial to the beef empanadas and the guava & cheese empanadas. So good!
The best I ever had don’t think about it my favorite is ham & cheese these are the best I ever had please don’t change anything I have been here several times at this location I promise myself next time I will leave a review because they deserve it always fresh the empanadas are so cute also no flakes everything is well put together great parking also good customer service they didn’t take cash so please have plastic but it was so freaking good words can’t explain you have to try it thank you
Typically go here once every 2 weeks. Small mom n' pop empanada lunch(?) joint. Large assortment of delicious traditional and different empanada types all homemade by owner sold as singles, 3-4 combinations or by the dozen for lunch or takeout. I chow on the traditional hamburger filled. Inexpensive street food, juice/soda, and friendly service.
The Empanada's are always superb when I come any flavor. Make's me spending so much on one that much more bearable. But would rather it be comparable to the local market empanada prices.
Best empanada I've ever had. Menu was easy and pleasing to everyone in my party. Now everyone is talking about turning this into our regular happy place. 😊 John rocked it!
Empanadas are delicious and super fresh! I love the spicy chicken and spinach cheese!!
Carlen is a very good Server!. She was nice and helpful!. Plus the empanadas are so delicious!. I love to come here!. Best place ever!
I am simply in love with the empanadas over here! Ive taken most of my friends here and frequently come in by myself. The staff is also very hospitable and it has a family feel to it!
Amazing high quality and great flavour. I wish they were here in NYC. They also catered many venues at ArtBasel with consistent excellence!!!
AMAZING! Was an unexpected stop on our way back to our hotel and I’m so glad we stopped here. Very good flavors and many options. Will definitely stop by again.
Discovered by accident and what an awesome surprise. I’ve worked in Buenos Aires several times and these are on par with the quality. Tastes are top notch DELICIOUS and the label stamp on each advising what it is when in a box of mixed - wow so cool and helpful. I’ve added their app to my phone
The young woman who attended us was very nice.
We came here every day of our trip. The cheesy gaucho empanada is amazing and this was our go to place for cortaditos. The coffees are great as well. Will definitely be back!
Half Moon Empanadas has great customer service, a clean atmosphere, and delicious, crispy empanadas with generous fillings. A solid spot for a quick and tasty bite!
Another place I found accidentally and I’m so glad I did! The service is very friendly. The food is good and served hot. And I liked the outdoor seating. Nice place to chill after work. There was one empanada I wasn’t the biggest fan of, but I saved it for my roommate and he loved it. I’ve been back a few times since and never been disappointed.
Great empanadas. But the sweet ones are all mixed in with a banana 🍌 puree. Missy to eat but good. The beef empanadas are shredded beef, not picadillo style. They make great coffee. Don't recommend the aveena or oatmeal hot cocoa. Seating outside right next to parking lot. Only three spots.
One of the best empanadas I've tried here in Miami... I got the beef empanadas and it was filled with enough beef to enjoy it... you did not end up thinking about the amount of filling you had, just about the empanada itself... recommended!!
Nice place and some good empanadas!
Healthy and delicious! Could not ask for more! Very convenient if you'd like to grab and go or enjoy a cool atmosphere. There are several locations in Miami. This place is A MUST. The best concept of empanadas ever!
Obsessed with these empanadas! They’re baked so you don’t feel as guilty indulging. Plus they are STUFFED! So much flavor. They’re big enough to share. Recommend getting a few and trying them. I really liked the sweet and savoury ones.
This place is incredible! We stopped by the miami airport location right before a flight. I thought I was just grabbing something quick to hold me over, but with the first bite I knew I had found Gold! I let me wife take a bite, and she took two more. We went back to grab a couple more, but unfortunately they had closed for the day. However, when we return back from our flight we bought a bunch of Empanadas for the road. You must go If you want to experience an explosion of flavor IN your mouth!
This place is fire! The food coffee and the service is on point. Ive driven 30 minutes out of my way and would do it again and again to enjoy the food here. Only drawback. No bathrooms but ill take service over utilities anyday in miami especially. Next door is a little flower shop that has the craziest flowers and great prices. Amazing if you consider the area that you could grab you and your wife something and surprise her with flowers for 50 bucks or less.
Great grab and go. They cook the empanadas fresh so give yourself a few min while they bake them or order ahead. Love the guava and cheese along the spicy chicken and beef.
It is a pleasure to enjoy Half Moon's empanadas because of their delicious taste, the freshness of the ingredients and the nice presentation of their products. I recommend them not only for any occasion but also for any event of special interest.
Deliciosas!
Excellent choice if you're near to the place, if better for pick-ups, they have only two little tables outside, but was amazing, the empanas was excellents, we tasted ham&cheese, triple cheese and the guava& cheese, all been delicious! Excelente lugar para comer empanadas, con rellenos de primera calidad y gran sabor, probamos las de jamon y queso, la de triple queso y guayaba con queso, sencillamente deliciosas, si estas por el area no dudes en detenerte y probarlas!
I love the empanadas from this place! I’ll be honest they’re a bit pricier than I expected, but the flavor is definitely good. Sometimes there’s a very serious lady at the counter who doesn’t make you feel very welcome, though I think that’s just her personality. Still, when you run a business, creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere helps bring people back
Tried a chicken empanada and a beef empanada and they we're good! Nice thing was that they were really stuffed with the filling and the seasoning was tasty. They didn't skimp. The one drawback was that I wish the dough was a little crisper, they're pretty doughy. However they were still really tasty and filled me up.
Good food made to order, with very little wait time. Limited parking shared with other restaurants could lead to issues on arrival. Prices are a little high.
Very filling empanadas. Ordered the spicy ones, but the pepper 🌶 were not as hot as I like. They were served very hot(temperature).
These are definitely not the best ones I ever had, but when moving through the international side of the Miami airport, it’s quick, portable and taste pretty good. The usually have a pretty decent amount of contents in them as well. The only problem is, if they run out, they are just out. Not like they can make what you want on site. Also, they are a bit pricey for the size, but what isn’t in the airport. I think they more realistically worth about 3.50-4 vice over 5 that they sell for. Last but not least, I think they need a chicken and cheese option. Or maybe they have it and are just always out it the 4 times a year I fly internationally 🤷🏽♀️.
One thing to note is that while the empanadas are top-notch, the prices are on the higher side. However, considering the quality and variety of the offerings, I believe it's a fair trade-off for a truly exceptional empanada experience.
Long-time customer for this place. I like some of the products. Parking is an issue. You can not pay with cash. It is only for take out orders. The price for an empanada is hight
Pricey, we ordered 6 which came out to almost $30 total. 2 out of the 6 were in the oven a little longer than I would have liked. (Some charring on the top.) Over priced and over hyped.
We’re ok. Tasted very doughy and had chunks of chewy beef
Food was okay. Staff bumbled for 10 minutes to put a guys bill through his ticket. Then they gave my food to another group because they were not organized. Not a great experience.
The wait for the empanadas is a bit long. The dough is very good but the two fillings of chicken and beef had way too much salt.
The empanadas are not worth the price. Theyre good but not nearly 4$ good... The employees that were there at night arent very upbeat or friendly.
They were filled with really tasty fillings but were a little overpriced for what you get which was pretty small empanadas. The crust was also a little bland and could honestly be better.
A regular size cortadito (demitasse) and a small empanada were $9.50! That's way over priced in my opinion. Good coffee but the shell of the empanada was chewy. It is very conveniently located for a quick bite before catching a flight, just be warned that prices are on the high side.
They make the empanada 🥟 there, so you would think they had great prices. Honestly they are super expensive and the product looks way better than it tastes. I wanted to give it a 4 or 5 🌟 it's just not that.
Service was fast and empanadas were ok. Not the best I’ve had but not the worst. I did enjoy the environment of the business and how they brand the empanadas- such a cute idea and it added to the experience.
The empanadas overall were pretty good. The wraps seemed too hard. The service was pretty bad though. It took so long to get just four empanadas. Other customers actually left before receiving any food or drinks. Customers that just ordered coffee had to wait for a long time. They also have a door that says open, but don't dare open it thinking there is indoor seating. You'll most likely get yelled at. Instead they should just lock it or put a sign that says don't come in.
Good empanadas, but way overpriced, especially for a hole in the wall, literally!!! — the most expensive empanada I’ve encountered so far, far away from anywhere… Outrageously, in addition, they charge $1 for a blob of chimichurri that is a free condiment in most places.
The empanadas are good, but I have to say that the place is totally overpriced. I paid almost $8 for 2 empanadas. 1 meat and 1 spinach. Also I had to pay $2 for the chimichurri or any other sauce I wanted to put in the empanadas. Come on, this place is a hole in a wall in a not so nice neighborhood. There is no service at all. Nice to try, but expensive for the place and service
be careful ordering here. language challenges messed up our order and they were NOT interested in correcting. won't ever be back. did not appreciate their bad attitude. it was a large order for a party.
I'm sure this is an awesome empanada place but they really have to do something about hand washing. The factory ladies all had their gloves on and they seemed to be all good. However, I walked up to the window, they had to call the window person, she walked up with an ipad in her hand that she was fiddling around that had grease smudges, I'm assuming her hands weren'twashed. She then picked out the empanadas I asked for (and later threw away), didn't wash her hands still, took my payment, still no hand washing, put the empanadas in the oven, nope, still had dirty hands, prepared my bag with unwashed hands, put in my empanadas and I just left. I was late to work and disgusted, never going back.
Empanadas are very good, they are very similar to "El noble repulgue" and "solo empanadas" from Argentina, but the problem is that whoever uploaded the pictures of this place, has uploaded pictures from different locations, these locations have different prices and different available flavors. I don't think this is fair businesses. When all the locations have the same prices, I will change my rating. By the way, the location described here, is extremely expensive... 6 empanadas for $20 usd is way too much. If u really wanna go, visit the ones far from miami beach.
the baked is perfect, but the taste isn’t good, had flavour to anything, very simple, my order was chicken, beef and cheese, the filling didn’t taste., If they improve the flavor of the filling would be another view.
Don't waste your time!!! The wait for 3 empanadas with no other customers was awful and the empanadas were tasteless, for the price I was shocked. This was the opinion of myself, 17 year old Granddaughter and Daughter.
Got a three cheese empanada and one with dulce de leche. Thick crust, weird tasting feeling. Couldn’t finish either. For the record, I am with empanadas, and familiar with dulce de leche. I see 3 places on the property selling food and drinks, however there is no bathroom. A bit inconvenient. The staff in the window was very nice though.
They can be slow so if you know what you want and are pressed for time it’s best to call ahead. The three cheese and ham and cheese are my favorites. This is much much better than the nasty half moon empanadas in the airport. Updated - They have been switching ingredients etc. Quality seems to be going down hill.
If you’re doing the combo they don’t allow substitutions on the milk for the coffee which doesn’t make sense cause some people have food allergies like myself. I become sick if I drink milk nd charging full price instead is not the right move. If you’re gonn have a combo, at least accommodate for ppl with food allergies. There was no accommodation so I asked for a refund instead .
Overpriced especially for the type of empanada you will get. I have had much better empanadas for a better price or better value for the price. The service is slow and if you have some place to go in the morning do not stop for breakfast because you will be unsatisfied.
One of the worst services ever. They treat the client like a criminal and, on top of that, there are better -and cheaper- empanadas in other places. Coffee is terrible. Please stay far away from this place!
this was the last place I ever an empanadas the lady at Sawgrass Mall was very rude later i saw one of the ladies I actually saw her touch her hair and then serve people and the empanadas was disgusting was not worth my moneythey don't tell you that they can't give you a receipt when you purchase anything I hope they close down soon
O.m.g what a disappointment!! I ordered two beef, ham and cheese, and pulled pork. $22 down the drain. Ham and cheese was ok. But the beef was dry. The pulled pork was not as described. Not sure if they forgot the guava and veggies, but even so they were extremely dry , tasteless.
I wanted to try the cheese empanada, they did not have it, how about the spinach empanada, no again, they only had the chicken one. I am glad I only bought one!!! It was dry and the chicken tasted old!!!! When I asked for any type of sauce to help a little, of course.... they did not have it!!! Never, ever stopping back in here!! Waste of my money!!!
I went to half moon empanadas at the Miami airport and they had told me they were closing which was fine. I stood in the area and they served three others who came after me after they told me they were not serving anymore. I then tried to order again and they said they were closed. I had mentioned they had served three people who came after me and the lady just shrugged her shoulders at me. Horrible service and never thought I would be treated in such way for trying to provide business
First time trying these empanadas. The meat tasted old. They also gave me the runs. They are over priced. Don’t waste your money.
So I drove 20’minutes to the location MIMO because the website informs that store closes at 11. I get there and the grumpy lady tells me at 10:42 that they close at 10:30. Really ??? So can you guys please update hours on the website ? Half Noon should pay for my gas . I am really mad and disappointed
As argentinean, I do have to defend the flavors and quality of an Argentinean empanada and THIS IS NOT AN ARGENTENEAN EMPANADA! I had two beef and one cheese, I tried to understood their menu, but it was way too complicated. BEEF EMPANADA: In the beef empanada, aregentine recipe, the main ingredient is onion!. The onion is what gives the juicy flavors to a beef empanada, and is cooked with the meat at the end of the cooking process. Their beef empanada didn't have onions! Crazy! It was dry and...COLD in the middle, this means, that the filling was frozen and it was not cooked properly at all. You can find big chunks of beef in the empanada. This is cause because the ground beef was cooked cold....big mistake. CHEESE EMPANADA: It had tomato and another veggies inside...???? That was not the empanada I was expecting get. If you don';t know empanadas argentineans, they are ok, the dough is good, but for the quality is not woth the price. Change the recipes por favor! I can give you much better and real recipes! THEY ARE NOT ARGENTINEAN EMAPANADAS!!!
Norovirus for a whole week isn't fun. Beef empanada was the culprit. Fiance was hospitalized because of it. A few clients of mine stopped going too because of the same thing from same location. Never again
I tried a couple empanadas at the Miami airport yesterday. The empanadas seemed like a better option from the rest of the offerings in that terminal. Not impressed. They were cold and flavor was average, not worth $12. In addition to that service sucked big time. The attendant did not care for my business, it felt like I was supposed to be honored to be there. The other attendant was just making fun of the names announced on the terminal speaker. Immature and unprofessional.
Esa senora que Hank’s espanol que trabajo el dis de hoy oct 28 martes- Ella no sabe nada de customer service/ falta el respecto mucho/ Botenla no te sirve para el negocio/ Fire that lady terrible customer service and she deoesnt comprehend the fact of well done i normally like to come to places like this before I arrive to home but unfortunately because of her me and a group of people will be boycotti location very disrespectful the way she rung that bell towards me will be talking to general manager Name is Elmer Muñiz expect me manager
If you're Hispanic and speak Spanish, they'll treat you right. They'll walk out and hand you your food personally. If you're Hispanic but look White and dont speak Spanish (me) and are with a Black man (my boyfriend) well... They'll put their hand out the window and say "Here" like you're a dog or something. Basically, they're racist. :)
I can’t believe they charge over $5 for a basic cup of coffee, especially when the place offers zero comfort. No indoor seating, no air conditioning, just two tiny outdoor seats in the sweltering heat. It’s definitely not a fancy spot to justify these prices. You’re better off grabbing your coffee somewhere else unless you enjoy overpaying to sit outside and sweat. Will not be coming back.
