Red Rooster Overtown receives high praise for its bartenders, Marlon and Matias, who are repeatedly mentioned for excellent service and cocktails. However, one reviewer reported a potential scam offering payment for 5-star reviews, and another was disappointed with the presentation of a special menu item and long wait times.
Tip: Come for the cocktails and the service from Marlon and Matias.

First off this restaurant came highly recommended so I had to stop by. Came in for dinner and was wowed as soon as I walked in the door. The lady at the front was super nice and asked me if I had a reservation and when I said no, she said it didn’t matter and help me out right to a table. She recommended the yard bird with hot honey, and I had to have that. I also had the cornbread, which was amazing with the jam and the jalapeño butter. The collard greens and the mashed sweet potato were amazing also. Carlos helped me out and he was great and the manager even came over and she was really sweet and nice. The whole experience was amazing and definitely worth the extremely long trip that I took to come down here.
I had the pleasure of dining at Red Rooster Overtown yesterday, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and welcoming staff set the tone for an exceptional meal. The standout of the evening was, which was prepared to perfection and full of flavor. Every bite showcased the restaurant’s dedication to high-quality ingredients and creative culinary techniques. What truly made the experience special was the food and service. The combination of flavor were delicious, lively ambiance, and excellent energy left a lasting impression. I would rate Red Rooster Overtown 5 Starts out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an incredible dining experience in the area!
Beautiful black owned spot in Miami Overtown area. Super satisfied as a visitor with the customer service, ambiance and of course the food! Get the seafood picadilly and the cornbread! So delicious! After dinner on a Saturday night, please go upstairs to experience THE SHRINE! Afrobeats, Dancehall and Amapiano all night long with a touch of hip-hop and R&B. Epic! I highly recommend this black owned business!
We’ve been to Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant in the Bahamas, Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House and also got a chance to see him do a food demonstration at SOBEWFF 2024. He seems like a genuine guy and a down to earth chef. I actually watched him on Top Chef. We were blown away with everything we had at his Bahamas location. So when we realized he had a restaurant here in Miami, we decided to check it out during our staycation in Brickell. Red Rooster Overtown was only about 10 min from our hotel so that was perfect. This restaurant was also a part of the InKind app which we use so it was ideal, they actually offered a separate $50 off $150 discount directly from restaurant’s website. Our reservation was for 7:30pm on a Saturday night. It wasn’t crazy busy when we arrived. Our server was Katie and she immediately made a good impression on us. Katie was incredibly personable, funny and full of energy! I loved her positive vibe. We double checked on the InKind thing and she confirmed but also let us know that she uses it too so she totally gets it. I felt like our whole dinner experience was just chatting it up. Haha. Loved how engaging she was. It was very easy to talk to her and she was a wonderful server that just went above and beyond. Everything we ordered: • Marqueta cocktail $18.00 • Brownstoner cocktail $15.00 • Lexington Deviled Eggs $12.00 • The Grilled Pearl $23.00 • Tuna Crudo $23.00 • Coconut Smoked Oxtails $41.00 • Ice Cream Sandwich $14.00 • Drip Coffee $4.00 Marqueta was my drink, it was a tequila based drink with Don Julio blanco, harissa, chambord, luxardo, pineapple, lime. Smooth and refreshing. Hubby had the Brownstoner which had nutmeg Bulleit bourbon, St. Germaine elderflower, cherry heering. His drink was strong. Didn’t love it but he didnt want to return it either. Lexington Deviled Eggs were good. The Grilled Pearl which were grilled oysters with brown crab and chili crunch, this had good flavor and potential but I think it was a tad fishy than it was fresh tasting. Tuna Crudo was delicious and was a thick generous cut, really loved the ponzu and burnt orange flavors. Super fresh tuna. We shared a main course for the Coconut Smoked Oxtails. All the ingredients sounded really interesting. This dish consisted of sweet plantains, yellow rice, long pepper and Thai Basil. Oxtail was a huge serving with three big pieces of oxtail. The peppers were yummy. I don’t recall any sweet plantains? Sauce was good but just a big portion. We had to take most of the dish home. We ordered the Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert thinking it would be small. Wrong. It was so big that no way we were eating all that so when it arrived, we offered the tables next to us a portion. Gave half to table next to us and another quarter portion to table next to them. Our neighbors were so grateful that we shared our dessert. The quarter we got was just enough and all we needed. Red Rooster was good but didn’t blow our mind like the other Bahamas spot we went to. Food was 4- stars and honestly, our server Katie was 110% awesome and she made the experience that much better for the full 5-star experience! We would come back again to try other menu items. Let me close out by saying we had the cornbread and fried chicken from the Bahamas location was 100% worth it so if you get a chance, get those items!!! BOMB and totally legit!!!
Visiting from out of town and had to find something close to the bright line. The absolute best oxtails I have ever had at a restaurant. So very tender, exploding with flavor. I could’ve asked for a better dish than this one. We were greeted upon entering very nicely. Staff was very attentive and helpful. I also had the cornbread, which was OK, but it did have a good taste to it. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as average, but the star of the night was the oxtails.
Loved the service, our waiter was Shawn; loved the food and loved the atmosphere. 10/10 no questions asked and not one piece of food left on the plate. Everything had great taste and service was timely. Cant wait to return.
It was my first time visiting this restaurant with my friends and my experience was excellent! We had a great server Shelbry who walked us through the menu, provided suggestions and answered any questions we had. He made sure our glasses were always filled with water and checked on us often. The cornbread was amazing and the Ms Fried Yardbird dish was very delicious. At the end of dinner, Shelbry even took the time to give us a small tour around the restaurant. We saw the artwork and he explained the history behind certain pieces. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!
I'm a few days late in sharing this review, but I’m still full from the Thanksgiving feast provided by the amazing Red Rooster family. Literally everything was soulful and mouth-watering. From the jerk turkey, to the stuffing, to the cornbread, braised collard greens, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, salad, and sweet potato pie.. every single item was to die for! I feel incredibly blessed and thankful for the hands that prepared, cooked, and served my family and friends. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for making this Thanksgiving truly special.
Red Rooster is all about flavor and vibe! Greeted by a chicken roaming outside (yes, really 🐓), we knew this would be different. The menu is limited with no substitutions, but once the food comes out, you understand why—everything is crafted with care. Highlights: jerk wings (spicy and bold), mac & cheese (rich and fresh), and cornbread with blackberry sauce + rum butter (unreal!). Desserts were just as impressive—especially the key lime pie and Oreo-rolled ice cream sandwich. Ambiance is low-lit, upbeat, and lively. Service was excellent—our waitress helped us work around the no-substitution rule with patience and understanding. Overall: 10/10 for flavor, vibe, and uniqueness. Highly recommend!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – Katie made our night We had an amazing experience at Red Rooster Overtown, and our server Katie was a huge part of it. She was incredible - the perfect mix of funny, friendly, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling over the top. She kept the vibe light, made great recommendations, and just made the whole dinner feel fun.
We visited Red Rooster Overtown in Miami two years ago, and it was an incredible dining experience that perfectly reflected Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s signature style. As fans of Chef Marcus, we were excited to try this location after dining at the one in London and it didn’t disappoint. The ambiance was absolutely top-notch. The design of the restaurant is vibrant, full of character, with beautiful murals, lush greenery, and a lively atmosphere that makes the space feel both upscale and welcoming. The outdoor area is stunning, and the energy of the place was contagious. The food was exceptional, from the creative appetizers to the flavorful mains, every dish was carefully crafted and beautifully presented. We enjoyed highlights like the famous chicken and waffles, perfectly crispy and juicy, and the lobster and grits which was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The cocktails were well balanced, and the cornbread was simply a must have. While we found the prices a bit on the high side compared to our experience at the London location (likely due to Miami’s prime setting), the quality of the food and the overall experience made it worth it. The service was friendly and professional, adding to the great vibe. If you’re in Miami and looking for a unique dining experience with amazing food, live music, and an unforgettable setting, Red Rooster Overtown is a must visit. Chef Marcus delivers again!
My man brought me here for Mother’s Day, and everything was amazing. From the live jazz to the beautiful ambiance, they created the perfect atmosphere. The guests were in great spirits—everyone was laughing, relaxed, and having a good time. The food? Immaculate. The texture, taste, and presentation were all on point. Every dish was a work of art accompanied with beautiful art, and the shareable portions gave real value for the price. Everything came together perfectly—it was an experience, not just a meal.
I had an excellent experience at Red Rooster thanks to our wonderful waiter, Zarah. From the moment we were seated, Zarah was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel taken care of. The service was smooth, friendly, and never rushed. The food was fantastic as always, and Zarah’s recommendations were spot-on. I’ll definitely be returning, and I highly recommend visiting—especially if you’re lucky enough to have Zarah as your server.
Listen, I live in DC, it’s so hard to get a table in dc at home, I jumped at the chance to get in here, let me tell you it was totally worth the wait. The food was excellent, the steak was cooked perfectly. The family platter we got was outstanding!!!! Highly recommend. Totally felt right at home with the music, excellent drink service. And highly recommend everyone and their mommy to try this place. Giving it 5 stars!!!!
This was hands down the best dining experience of my life. My wife and I relished every dish that was presented to us—the deviled eggs, chicken, oxtails, and the macaroni and cheese were simply outstanding. The server was exceptionally friendly, and I can confidently say we will be returning for more.
RedRooster has been on my list to visit for a while and decided on going spontaneously. I’m so glad I did! This place definitely passed the “vibe” check. My bartender Crystal was extremely attentive and fed off my energetic personality. She ensured that the drinks were flowing. For reference, I ordered the cocktail called “Little Broadway”. I ordered wings, mac&cheese, collard greens. The wings had a kick to it and was topped off w/ crumble blue cheese which added a tangy flavor. It had my palate dancing. The mac&cheese was made with cavatappi noodles-the perfect noodle for the beautifully colored Béchamel sauce to coat every noodle. The different freshly grated cheeses allowed for a phenomenal cheese pull w/ every bite. Now for the finale, the collard greens. The greens were freshly prepared with smoked turkey if I remember correctly (I don’t eat pork). It was not salty and it was packed with flavor! The food, drinks, service and the esthetics of RedRooster is definitely a 5/5 and will re-visit.
I had heard good things about Red Rooster Overton but it exceeded my expectations on all counts. Great ambiance, inventive and tasty cocktails and each dish more delicious than the last. We shared cornbread and then had the yard bird chicken and pork belly with plantains for main courses. Both incredible! A sweet potato side and macaroni and cheese straight from the gods. Somehow found room for the skillet chocolate chip cookie and you should too! Service was excellent and we owe Harry (Harrie?) a big thank you for her excellent recommendations and service. Dying to go back for brunch on a Sunday with live gospel music!
Had a wonderful lunch here! Jessica B (Yésica) as our server. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. We LOVED the cornbread. The jalapeño butter was amazing! And the Overtown Bacon Cheeseburger was just as delicious! The pictures don’t do the place justice. Would definitely return!
The food and drinks were excellent! Can we talk about the cornbread... ordered an extra one to go that's how good it was!! From our server Viola who was amazing to the hosts who were awesome, the service is definitely what other restaurants lack!! The show of the chicken even though not planned by the restaurant was good entertainment. Will definitely return!
Amazing experience! The service from the door to the waiter was very inviting. Reservations are a must, because the restaurant is very busy but it's well worth the wait. Besides the host(didn't get her name), who was very helpful by the way the waiter impressed my family and I with the knowledge of the menu. Yes he gave a long overview of what was available but there was nothing he didn't know.👌🏾 As for the food, the prices are a bit high but they are well worth the value. Everything is prepared and seasoned with an African/Caribbean inspiration, and my family and I truly enjoyed it. The only downfall is this place is located in the heart of Overtown, which is a far distance from my residence. But however far you live it is definitely worth the trip at least once! As for me I will definitely be back soon 😉
I don’t know what Patrick is talking about because this place deserves 5 STARS. The food + drinks was phenomenal when I went last night with my family. For our appetizers we ordered Deviled Eggs which were delicious & the corn bread - which I will admit was pretty dry. I don’t remember which cocktails we ordered but they were ALL so good and mixed very well. Then, for our entrees we ordered the Oxtail, Grilled Snapper, & the Fried Chicken with sides of Mac & Cheese, Collared Greens & the Jerk Sweet Potato. Chile, listen. When I tell you the flavors of the food was hugging my taste buds?? I love it here, can’t wait to go back! Shout out to Isaiah for recommending nearly everything. He has got great taste.
In the heart of “The Harlem of the South” Chef Marcus Samuelsson, brings diverse culinary cuisine of the black diaspora to Red Rooster Overtown. Oh yes, that Chef Marcus, the Top Chef Masters and Chopped All Masters winner. The decor celebrates the rich and historic history of one of the city’s oldest Black American communities. Locals employed and serving up comfort food from the diversity of the community. I love it! Located in the revitalization area, you walk in and step back in the time of Overtown’s heyday, think speakeasy and pool halls, yes they have one up stairs, for the billiards aficionados. Memorabilia and comfort food is all a girl needs! We were greeted like old friends and promptly seated, everyone was inviting and friendly! Our waitstaff was quite polite and engaging, she offered us a look around while we waited for lunch. The place is a treasure trove of memories from the past. The atmosphere is laidback and casual. The music flowed through the building giving good vibes. The lunch menu was simple, but packed with favor and tasted delicious. I only wish the Pool Hall and the Creamery, the ice cream shop, was opened. This hidden gem is a most, but I highly recommend making a reservation because with various happenings and local artists that come through it might be hard to get a seat.
Today was totally a vibe. First off our waitress Lashawn T. Is awesome. She was very attentive, friendly, and her memory was awesome. I mean customer service was top tier. Now the food was a hit, everything from the Mac and cheese, to the catfish, greens, grits, Cajun shrimp, everything was just amazing. We will totally be back.
Delicious dishes and friendly service! We tried Red Rooster Overtown for a business dinner in the middle of the week. Easy parking right next to the restaurant, beautifully decorated interior and a warm welcome from the gentleman at the host stand. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable on the menu/drinks list, and pointed out quickly that we had made it in time for the end of happy hour so we could catch a deal on our drinks :) We ordered the deviled eggs and cornbread for appetizers and the Hot Honey Salmon and Ribs with a side of macaroni and cheese for entrees. All were wonderful! My personal favorites were the unique, flavor-packed sides that came with each entree: black seafood rice (salmon dish) and the potato salad (ribs). Unfortunately we were too full to make it to dessert, but I will surely be back to try it another time.
Everything was excellent, the food, the environment and the service, top tier. The cornbread and macaroni were amazing. If youre looking for a great cocktail try the Miami milkshake. We went on a Sunday and they had a gospel sunger there who was amazing. Please check them out if you find yourself in Miami.
Wow! I was so excited to come to Red Rooster because this is a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. I watch him on TV a lot. Well he did the darn thing. This spot is amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming. The art is spectacular. They even have a pool hall upstairs. Plenty of space for private parties. The hostess did not recognize it was my birthday when we checked in. It was on our OpenTable reservation. Nor did she have a good attitude for the job. But Henry our server made up for it. We had an awesome experience. He even took us on a tour of the place. The managers on duty stopped by to check on us. The staff was always coming by to see if they could take anything from our tables. Awesome service. Now the food, whoa! Upscale comfort food it is. We had the cornbread as an appetizer. Delicious. We had the chicken wings, collard greens, oxtail and key lime bread pudding. Everything was favorable, tender, juicy and spectacular 😋 👌. I absolutely highly recommend!!!
A simple date night. My partner and I wanted to try this restaurant out together and our experience was worth it. From the service (Thank you Henry and the chef team) to the food and drinks, we were not disappointed. I had the Guyanese oxtails, while my partner had the Fried yard bird as a main dish. They were delicious. The oxtail was well seasoned and the flavor of the sauce was amazing. However, I did not like the texture of the rice, so I just ate the oxtail alone. My partner enjoyed the fried yard bird. We also tried the Mac and cheese as well as the cornbread. I would definitely visit again and recommend it to others.
Always great food and a good ambiance. Ordered the ribs as a starter, loved the salmon and catfish and then finished with the amores bread pudding - would order everything again. Icing on the cake was the service. Carlos was so sweet and attentive to our table even while the restaurant was packed and busy
The food and environment is really amazing and something to experience if you're in Miami. We had the deviled eggs which had a great mustard flavor, and the jalapeno butter served with the cornbread was perfect. The kale salad was nice and delicate and we paired that with the cheese grits and the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was different, more tomato and andoiulle sausage-based than the classic white gravy, and I thought it was fantastic. The interior decorations are so beautiful it feels like you are inside some kind of historic moment and indeed you are, since the Chef has won so many awards relating to his food and his serving of communities. They only hire staff from the community as well, so the whole place gives such a homely vibe in combination with the soul food inspired dishes. Will definitely come back.
This restaurant was so delicious!! The ambiance was great, cool and relaxing vibes. We got the deviled eggs, Mac & cheese, fried yardbird and kale salad. Everything tasted amazing and was full of flavor!! After dinner, we checked out the bar upstairs and it was also very fun. I would definitely go back for some flavor-blasting Southern comfort food.
Came here with some friends to celebrate a birthday and it was an amazing experience. Service was great, Steven was our server and he explained the menu perfectly. I noticed many people got the chicken and waffles but I got the Ragout instead. It was really flavorful, kinda tasted like a Haitian legume. The deviled egg as were very flavorful, served cold with a mustard based reduction and a crunchy piece of chicharron. We also got the cornbread to share along with some oysters. I’ll definitely come back to experiment as it was a great experience. Definitely worth checking them out.
I am glad I finally made my way over to Red Rooster while I was in town. I've seen it for years and wanted to try it out. The restaurant itself looks great inside—they did a fantastic job with the decor and vibe. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The parking directly behind the restaurant is a bit pricey, but there’s plenty of street parking around. We got the acclaimed cornbread and were glad we did. The two sauces it comes with are top-notch. The Caesar salad is honestly worth trying—one of the best I've had. The last thing I had was the salmon avocado toast. This was the least impressive of the three; I didn't like how they did the avocado—it tasted like low-grade guacamole blended together. Overall, I definitely would come back to try more!
We had been wanting to try Red Rooster Overtown for a while, but we were always too late for brunch. Last Sunday though, we decided to try it for dinner, and it was exquisite! The corn bread is to die for, the chicken is fried to perfection, the cocktail recommendation was exactly what we were looking for: refreshing and relaxing. And the pickles, Mac and cheese, and muffins were delicious. Nothing was wanting. We’ll be back!
Well I walked from the Brightline station to check out the Red Rooster Overtown yesterday (5 min walk) and was really blown away. My taste buds are still on cloud nine. Quite possibly the best damn chicken wings I've ever tasted, and I'm from Buffalo. Oh, and the jambalaya? It was so delicious, I wanted to bury my face in the bowl and never come up for air. Honestly, I'm not sure which was better, the food or the really cool decor. Actually, no, it was the food. Wow. Either way, I had a great time and can't wait to go back!
Oh.My.Ambiance!! This place is fabulously eclectic and BEAUTIFUL! Upon entering, your senses are heightened with gorgeous art, plants, and music. The music is as diverse as the menu which, by the way, has something for even the pickiest of eaters. The garlic mashed potatoes are the best I’ve EVER had. Be sure to try the fried chicken & Mac n cheese. Oh, and the cornbread is delicious. The deviled eggs are topped with a pork rind AND caviar! The staff is super friendly and super efficient yet professional. The gratuity is automatically included on all parties, regardless of size. Upstairs is a pool table, DJ booth, and a bar. All along the walls in the stairwell is memorabilia from the ‘40s-‘70s. The decor is retro yet hip and modern. After dining, stroll across the street to the Lyric Theater and listen to some live, cool, and breezy music. We were even given some complimentary Marcus Cornbread ice cream—yep, that’s right. Cornbread ice cream. Our bill for four people was over $350, but we tried quite a few things, and even took some food home. Go—you won’t be disappointed!
My wife and I enjoyed sitting under a lush tree on the covered patio, surrounded by greenery, while live DJ music filled the air for a Saturday brunch. I opted for the Chicken and Waffles, featuring a sweet potato waffle paired with hot honey and maple syrup, which was delightful. My wife chose the Oxtail Eggs Benedict, a flavorful twist on a classic. Both dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and creativity. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely brunch. Overall, Red Rooster Overtown is a must-visit for anyone seeking great food and a lively dining experience in Miami.
Dj tillery James created a vibe! Made me feel like I need to stay and drink and eat more. Great waiters , good drinks ate the ox tail, corn bread and a old fashioned. I'm glad I went going back again when dj tillery james is spinning. This place need to franchise love the vibe and food.
Red Rooster Restaurant is a true hidden gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with friendly service and a warm, laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The food is the real star—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was cooked perfectly and packed with bold, comforting flavors. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right, and the portions were generous for the price. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or sitting down for a full meal, Red Rooster delivers consistently great quality and service. If you’re looking for a spot with great food, great people, and a vibe that keeps you coming back, Red Rooster Restaurant is it. Highly recommend! 🐔🔥
Brunch is a such a nice vibe! Hurry up and visit before the influencers ruin it lol Make a reservation and get to brunch at 11 before it gets crowded. Great food options, DJ, and there’s a mixed crowd. Some crowds have their families others are on a girl brunch but either way it feels good to be there! I normally overdo it since it’s a buffet so I would strategize to just come for one cuisine (either get breakfast or lunch) It’s easy to leave so stuffed because it’s so many yummy options. My only feedback is to cook the chicken a bit longer.
This is my second time at Red Rooster in Overtown, and each time has been an enjoyable one. They have went above and beyond delivers an incredible dining experience with its vibrant ambiance, delicious food, ano amazing service. The warm, inviting decor sets the stage for a memorable evening. I highly recommend the brown sugar wings; they are a delightful balance of sweet and savory, bursting with flavor in every bite. Overall, Red Rooster is a fantastic spot that beautifully blends great food with a lively atmosphere, making it a must-visit!
Just finished the Sobewff brunch event and have to say it was incredible! It turned out to be the highlight of our o really amazing weekend! Great food, tremendous energy, super atmosphere, and wonderful service. Special shout out to Katie! She made an amazing event even more memorable. Cheers Katie from your Wisconsin friends!!!
First time at this restaurant and let me tell you, we had a great experience. You want to eat one of the best comfort foods in Miami, this is your place. A great selection of dishes with amazing Caribbean flavors, you can't go wrong with any selection. The corn bread is a must to start, warm, freshly made, and the jalapeño butter is unreal. If you want to try a little of everything, order the Grand Jubilee, with a mix of dishes on 1 dish you will not be disappointed. This family style dish has enough to feed 4 people. Highly recommended, I'll definitely be back.
I came here for happy hour and was thoroughly impressed! The array of food, drinks, and vibes was fantastic. The beautiful scenery provided the perfect backdrop to decompress after work. I absolutely loved the artwork and the overall setup of Red Rooster. The bartender kept the drinks flowing, and the waiter was amazing, bringing out the most delicious food. A must-visit spot!
Red Rooster Overtown – A Whole Vibe You Won’t Forget So, let me tell y’all how the Saturday before Mother’s Day turned into a full-blown celebration—Although my husband took me out on side family mother day 🤔😳… lol because my husband is smart enough to know that on actual Mother’s Day, restaurants are like clubs on New Year’s Eve: crowded, chaotic, and no fun. And where did we end up? None other than Red Rooster in Overtown, baby. Now, let’s address the elephant in the parking lot: yes, you have to pay for parking. But listen—it’s Miami. If you’re shocked, you must be new here. Once we paid, parked, and made our way inside, the vibe instantly shifted. Red Rooster sits right in the heart of Overtown, one of the city’s most historic neighborhoods. Yes, it’s giving clutch-your-purse realness when you drive in, but the moment you step inside, it’s giving elegance, soul, and flavor. A full cultural reset. My husband and I originally wanted to sit outside to recreate the same photos we took the first time we came here—back when they had just opened and served an oxtail so massive…. I mean thick and long( NO DIDDY) I’m still dreaming about it. But they told us they’re no longer sitting people outdoors tonight. Big bummer. The inside is stunning, don’t get me wrong, but I think they’re missing out by not keeping that option open. People were still showing up, and that outside seating area? Chef’s kiss. Now let’s talk about the food. We started off with the starter egg (deviled egg) and cornbread. The deviled egg? Eh—it didn’t hit the way I wanted. Needed a bit more flavor. The cornbread was decent, and the jam and honey butter on the side? Cute. Not life-changing, but definitely a solid start. For the main course, I got the Overtown Catfish and my husband got the Oxtail. The catfish? Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. At first, I thought it needed more flavor, but once I paired it with that rice and plantain stew… YES. It made perfect sense. Flavorful, balanced, and intentional. My husband’s oxtail? Bay-beee. Falling off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth good. Savory and rich—the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. Drinks? Of course. My husband ordered his go-to: Hennessy and Amaretto (he’s a simple man with consistent taste). I tried a sweet cocktail our waiter recommended—I wish I remembered his name because he was on point all night—but the drink wasn’t for me. I ended up switching to an Old Fashioned and never looked back. Classic and reliable. But the real magic happened upstairs. Yes, Red Rooster has an upstairs lounge—and on this night, it was giving Reggae Vibes. The DJ? LIT. My body was doing what it does and I had no complaints. Between the food, the drinks, the music, and my fine husband by my side? 10/10 night. We stumbled out, full of soul and spirits, and already planning our next visit. Red Rooster, you got us again.
Danny was our server for our dinner this afternoon prior to seeing the Madonna show. He was witty kind very informative friendly and made great recommendations. We had the shrimp and grits salmon with collard greens fish fry with carrots and Jamaican rice. We started with cornbread and mac & cheese, and we had several drinks, very good service. Very good quality.
The atmosphere makes me happy. If you grew up in southern home of the 70’s you feel at home. It’s your cool aunt’s house or your friend with the younger cooler parents ( Dana yeah I'm looking at Sandra and them) . You know the folk with the good record collection and a least one area is smokey mirrored wall and possibly a good book collection. The one that had the sofas without the plastic. Good music playing and soul food with a flare. As for the food Cornbread was grabbed by everyone even non bread eaters. So many dishes that bought the love . Like to try new stuff when traveling but second trip in my visits to Miami.
Omg brown sugar chicken bites are to live for!!!! I wanted the wings yet opted for the bites with the wing sauce and I just loved it. their Caesar salad with the crunchy crumbles tickle my taste buds and I love texture so it's always a favorite. As expected, my Lady day signature mango coconut Mocktail was delicious, yet the bartender did not garnish and I had to ask for my coconut flakes which is a bummer cause I expect my orchid and coconut flakes from any bartender on duty. I hate having to coach a bartender on making my drink properly. Nonetheless, the other bartender made up for the lack of competence displayed by the first one. Over all the dj was a great fit for the atmosphere. The setting is always amazing. The art is top tier contemporary greatness. It's a staple for happy hour and always a great deal. Great food guaranteed.
This was my second visit to Red Rooster! I had to bring my mother - I told her they have Guyanese Pepperpot on the menu, so once she arrived in town this was on her list. She loved it, even though it was made slightly different than we make ours in Guyana;; we use cassareep for our sauce but it was still delicious. The meat falls off the bones. We also had the cornbread and the hot salmon. All great. Finally, the service is outstanding!!! Special shout out to Essa, she is an amazing server and I think just as a person in general. And Jose who was kind enough to give my mom a tour. I can’t wait to go back and try more items. I almost forgot - the happy hour is good as well!
Red Rooster Overtown was an all around 10/10 vibe. The team hosted our group with real care and a level of detail that made everything feel smooth and special without feeling stiff. The hospitality from Jose and Chris stood out they were warm, thoughtful, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Service went beyond expectations, the crew was excellent, will definitely host events here again.
Best Thanksgiving food I've ever had in my life. I'm latina, so I've always found thanksgiving food to be a little bit boring and unexciting, but NOT HERE! Everything was insanely good. The apps, entrees, sides, desert were ALL 10/10. I couldn't even pick a favorite because for the first time in a long time I couldn't say I liked something the least - it all hit the spot. Also the bartenders ,hostesses and all wait staff were lovely. Paid parking lot only.
A tad pricy, but I enjoyed the food. Came from NC hanging with my daughter for her spring break. We both enjoyed our meals.
Our server Pedro was very attentive. We were visiting from out of town and he gave us some tips for navigating the area. The buffet cost isn't super cheap but there's tons to choose from. Standouts were the shrimp and grits, waffles, cornbread, and potato salad. The dessert cups were delicious and the perfect size. Staff was friendly, and the guys in the pastry room were hilarious.
Red Rooster has an eclectic menu, but something for everyone. The food & drinks were 5 star. The atmosphere was a real vibe. However, the hostess on April 20, 2024 at about 4pm was not very hospitable or welcoming. A smile goes a long way. Other than that we had a great experience. We would definitely go back.
I tried their brunch menu. I don't know why online it doesn't show the chicken and waffles, but they do have their famous chicken during brunch. I was happy about it! The food, drinks, and ambiance overall were good, but a suggestion for people who haven't tried this place: SKIP the RR Benedict. It's served on a regular white bread, the kind you buy from the supermarket, and the amount of oxtail they give you is so little, it's like smeared. Also, I didn't get the hollandaise sauce even though I asked for it, and the potatoes weren't like the gourmet style you see in the picture from the online menu; they were just regular breakfast potatoes.
Absolutely delicious food and drinks. Very friendly service staff and attentive. The decor really add to the atmosphere. We had the grand jubilee and the food was amazing, although easily could have fed 5 instead of just us two! The only little downside was the inconvenience of having to close the tab at the bar instead of just transferring to the table. Also waited for a table and told we would lose our booking if we didn’t take our table, however plenty of tables remained available throughout our dinner.
First time visiting Red Rooster and it definitely peaked my interest enough to return. The food was decent, but the true draw was the drinks, the service and the atmosphere. Hannah, our waitress, was very attentive and informative. She gave us so much information on the background of the restaurant, the venue, and the artwork. Very interesting! Might be a little weird but as an art lover, I definitely wanted to peruse the restaurant to view the artwork, displays (Green Book excerpts), and other items on display 😀. Anywhoo... I guess I'll have to experience one area at a time. Definitely motivation to return.
This is my third time visiting this restaurant. The oxtails were the first dish I’ve actually really liked. The prices are inflated. Deviled eggs should be served in 4’s. When you cut an egg in half, there are two sides. Why would you ever serve 3, especially when most people dine in pairs. Note, one chicken thigh is $7. Also, you cannot order just white meat chicken. I’ll give this place another chance.
Found them through Michelin Guide. Made booking and glad to did it as this place has quite a lot of walk ins and they’re on queue. The server is so communicative and gave us great recommendations. I went with Yardbird Chicken and its yummy. The downfall was just delay on food service, we had to wait one hour for the main course.
Downtown in the Overtown area. All 4* because I got swindled on parking lol. $10 parking but if you need change for a $20 the parking went up to $15.💀. That's crazy. Anyway, we had a fried chicken which tasted like there was just touch of honey in it. It was good and juicy but not undercooked. It was served with pickles and hot jalapenos. It went great together. Next course was salmon with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Delish also. Wasn't to impressed with the texture of the salad but what ever the spice was that they added to it was good. Can't really rate the service because it was a good size crowd and I think they were understaffed. But staff was polite. Definitely would go again. Good dinner.
Nice huge modern restaurant with a nostalgic feel reminiscent of its history in Overtown. I loved how the old architecture of the building has been enhanced with new lighting, touch less hand dryers, etc. The food: we had the jambalaya with grits. Strange combination, but not bad. Could've been a little more spicy. I'm not a grit fans, but still finished my meal and it was enjoyable. My friend had nice juicy ribs. My wife had the chair grilled chicken wings and both of those dishes looked and tasted nice. The deviled eggs with pork rinds probably was my least favorite looking dish. Henry our server was very knowledgeable, attentive and cordial. I thought the restaurant was too pricey, but they are lower during happy hour. I would come back to Red Rooster
We took the Brightline down from Fort Lauderdale to have dinner there this evening and really enjoyed it. The food was absolutely perfect as were the architectural details of the restaurant. We ordered the cornbread, crab fritters, cassava papa bravas, oxtail, collard greens, and pesto tagliatelle. All were phenomenal. Unfortunately, the live music from the bar area was far too loud to have a conversation. The other disappointment was the key lime pie. It was more of a tart and the crust was tough and chewy and the filling didn't stick to it. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would definitely return. I would give them 4.5 stars if I could.
I tried to get in on Basel weekend but didn’t realize they were hosting an event so it was complete and utter chaos. But I forgot to post my meal from last year that was out of this world awesome. My sense is that whilst the service is hit and miss, the food and drink is very good. It is a bit pricey compared to other spots local to the area but compared to Miami overall, it’s comparable.
Got in before 7:00 so sat at bar for happy hour cocktails. Sat outside in this historic venue open space. Food was good and service was fair for 20% included tip. Atmosphere was fair the outside was empty but historic building brings the charm. If in the area recommend to try. It is best to go before 7 to enjoy happy hour drinks at the bar. You cannot take drinks from bar to your table. We enjoyed something different and good. Fried chicken since it has the sauce was not crispy, Mac and cheese was very cheesy, wings had the perfect hotness, expected more from corn bread and biscuits.
On a recent visit to Red Rooster Miami my lovely wife and I fully enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming yet airy, but comfortable. With reservations, we were greeted immediately and taken to our table which was not too far from the kitchen. Our server, Carlos C. wasted no time explaining the days specials and recommended dishes. We started with deviled eggs. They were tasty but not overly flavored and just the right starter for what was to come. Our main dishes consisted of: - the Bucatini Picadilly (the pasta dish featured shrimp, crab, lobster and Parmesan breadcrumbs. Cooked to perfection with shredded seafood and tender noodles.) - the Overtown Fish Fry & Oxtail Fried Rice (lightly fried catfish pieces with savory shrimp, sitting on well seasoned oxtail fried rice. The plantain and carrot slaw was a nice touch layered with lime aioli. The taste was fantastic-I just wished the portion was more pleasurable.) - the Brown Sugar Wings (tender, lightly battered chicken wings in a tasty glaze. Yes Chef!!) - The Towners Mac & Cheese (while heavy on the sharp cheddar cheese, this dish can work as a main. Yes, it’s that filling!) Beverages included sparkling water and GLS 3 by Wade ROSE (which was light in taste and small in portion.) In closing the food was amazing but the portion control needs to be adjusted for the price paid. Someone tell Marcus we love what you’re doing in Overtown and that our next stop will be the location in Harlem. Psst, we will be back!!
I celebrated the birthday/anniversary of starting a business with my partner at this restaurant. The decor was absolutely beautiful, featuring inspiring black-themed artwork that felt intentional. The manager called before our 10:45 reservation, informing us that the kitchen closed at 11. She suggested moving up our reservation, which we appreciated. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, greeted by a lovely server, and the manager thanked us for our flexibility, sending over complimentary champagne—a delightful touch. The service throughout the night was excellent, making us feel well taken care of. However, the food was a bit lackluster; the jollof rice had good flavors but inconsistent texture, and the Caesar salad, while visually appealing, lacked flavor. On a positive note, the drinks were phenomenal, and despite the food, we enjoyed the overall experience. I would absolutely consider returning.
I recently attended a networking mixer event at this location and was impressed by the inviting, classical feel of the restaurant's decor. I decided to check out the happy hour specials at the bar before the event started. However, I did notice that the bar manager seemed a bit overwhelmed with drink preparation. It took a while before a bartender attended to me, and they could have been more helpful when it came to drink and food suggestions. Although I did find the double Jameson and toxic to be a bit overpriced at $30, the food arrived quickly and was quite tasty. In particular, the signature wings were juicy and very flavorful. The Cesar salad was also good, though it could have used a bit more crunch from the croutons. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and think that with some minor improvements, this restaurant and bar could be a top-notch destination.
As a fan of Chef Marcus Samuelsson, I make sure to support his restaurants whenever they’re in a town I’m visiting. My birthday trip to Miami before heading to my cruise the next day was the perfect opportunity to make dinner reservations at Red Rooster Overtown. I received a friendly reminder call the day before to confirm my reservation—which I greatly appreciated and which set the tone for exemplary customer service. We easily found street parking and arrived a few minutes ahead of our Friday reservation time and were immediately seated (the second sign of exemplary customer service). After a long morning touring Overtown, we had an unexpectedly heavy lunch. So I already knew I was going to pack up any leftovers and enjoy them for breakfast before heading to the port for the cruise. I ordered the Lexington deviled eggs and smokestack ribs. My cousin ordered the oxtail mac. All the food was very tasty and met our standards. I’ve been blessed to have multiple experiences with birthday dinners—from Applebee’s and local Mexican restaurants during my undergrad college days to fine dining—and the staff usually strives to make the birthday person feel celebrated. Well, I did not feel very celebrated by Shelbre. I was served the saddest scoop of vanilla ice cream (I suspect Breyers, which I do like) with a single lit candle. He was so dry while serving it that I honestly don’t know if he even wished me a happy birthday. That didn’t dampen my spirit. There was a “birthday twin” seated at another table, and we greeted and celebrated each other with love and enthusiasm. Overall, the food and vibe matched Marcus Samuelsson’s high-standard brand. I just don’t think I would recommend the restaurant for a celebratory birthday dinner—maybe happy hour instead.
Let’s talk about it. I should have left when the entertainment guy decided to rearrange the seats at the bar and make it seem like I was the problem! We arrived about 20 minutes early because we are not from FL and could see traffic was an issue every time we moved. The dining area was not even half full but we were told we would be called when our table became available. As we endured the rudeness at the bar, which spilled over to the bartender, (they stick together here right or wrong) we watched others walk in and be seated immediately. We are now 4 minutes before our actual reservation time when I asked the host how much longer for the table? She said the table was being prepared. Still the establishment is relatively empty in the main dining area. We took a seat at the table directly in front of the host. A couple minutes later she began yelling my last name as if we were not sitting directly in front of her. We observed her walk over to others who were sitting at the bar and quietly tell them their table was ready. Not sure why she could not take the two steps to come over and say our table was ready. Food- our order deviled eggs, char grilled chicken wings, hot honey salmon, oxtails with garlic rice and a side of braised greens. The deviled eggs were a huge disappointment. The chicharron was stale and the deviled egg lacked flavor. The wings were so charred I was left with that bitter burnt flavor on my palette. The braised greens were definitely boiled and there was entirely too much vinegar in them. Both main course dishes arrived to the table with the plates being hotter than the food that sat on them. Let me say this… IDC if my food is $1 or $100. If the food I ordered is to be served hot, that’s exactly what I want. After serving me isn’t the time to make it right. Do it right the first time. I do not send food back. I immediately shared with the waiter the temperature of the food and he offered to take it back. I declined; my choice. The oxtails were seasoned well, then garlic rice was lacking garlic. My daughter said the salmon flavor was spot on too. We spent $200. I remember having meals be $40 for 4 people and it be fantastic. These types of experiences makes me eat out less and less. This place is overly hyped. This is barely 3 star restaurant. Fine dining no longer exists.
3.40⭐️ Even though it was Friday night and the restaurant was packed, and we did not have a reservation, the hosts were super kind and friendly to find us a big table for six people. I almost went to the NYC location and heard great things about it, so I had big expectations. Being a comfort food restaurant, I was expecting that the cornbread will be mind-blowing, but it was super-average, so it started disappointingly. The fried chicken was the best thing there. It was amazing, really good! I wouldn’t serve the pigeon peas with it, and they were too hard. Mac & Cheese was also average, and the jerk sweet potato was great! The cocktail was a bit off — too sour, bitter, and boozy. Lastly, for my taste, the music was too loud, you could barely have a conversation. The ambiance and the atmosphere are beautiful. They did a good job. And all the staff is such kind, fast, and friendly people.
The food is amazing, and each dish is full of flavor. We had a poor service experience (slow to be greeted, forgotten drink order, and extensive wait for our meal, which was originally taken to the wrong table). However, Charlotte (evening manager) was accommodating for the error. Our waitress was also kind about the error, and her menu recommendation was on point. Despite our experience, I would still recommend it. Those around us were seated and served timely, so it seemed to be a one-off issue. What we had: Brown sugar wings Fish & Grits Oxtail & Grits Marqueta Cocktail Pinot Grigio Limited pics, by the time food arrived, we just ate and left.
We had a reservation for 2:45 pm. When we arrive we were told to hurry up and place our order because the kitchen will be closing soon at the end of brunch. The other option was to come back after 4pm but we would have to reserve another table. This upsetting because this was never mentioned beforehand then someone told to not worry and take out time. This was a poor first impression, another con is that parking isn't free on the side parking of the building. We were there to celebrate my sister's birthday because we heard so much about the place and the owner. We ordered our waitress was incredibly nice and she was from historical Overtown (also where my father is from) she offered us a restaurant tour as well. The food was okay a bit pricey for such small portions. The cornbread was so delicious that we ordered 2. The deviled eggs were good but the caviar seemed unnecessary because you could not taste it. My family was not too impressed but I may return to try the creamery.
The place gave a good southern vibe. The Mac and cheese was a pretty decent but the cornbread was super dry. My sister had the oxtail which she enjoyed but came off a bit dry for me as well. The best thing they had was the rice. Overall it was a solid eating experience and good for large groups.
I don’t usually do reviews, but I had to this time. For the price, it was not worth what we received. Food: they kept saying they add the Miami flare — leave the flare off and stick to the original! Harlem’s location exceeded the bar, this location missed the bar. The only thing great was The Grilled Pearl (grilled oysters) appetizer and the drinks (the Birds of Paradise [mezcal sangria] specifically — not the Yes Chef [similar to a mule]). The Catch of the Day Escavitch (snapper) was very minimal on the fish itself and the veggies on top were skimpy and had no seasoning including salt barely existing :/ what really saved it with the rice, was asking for the cilantro aioli and chili crisp which elevated it. The green tomatoes were unseasoned, the sauce was also the savior here. The pear apple “cobbler” was more like an apple crisp with minimal breading, too much ice cream drowning out everything else. For $264, I would DEFINITELY take my money elsewhere. At the most I would only return for the one sangria drink and the grilled oysters appetizer. It looks better than it tasted. At least our server Katie was nice.
The best part of this experience was the waitress. She was nice and tried hard. One two dishes were okay. It was loud, and the kitchen did an awful job keeping up with demand. She also took some money off the total because the kitchen was so erratic. I didn’t think I was going to a tapas restaurant, but that’s the way the food was delivered, by mostly surly bus people. The kitchen is too small for the number of diners they had in there. I dared to ask for more cornbread. They told me “no, youre only entitled to these few.” For a $90 meal? Seriously? It was way, way, way too loud and frankly a lot of the food was just bad….over herbed and just not flavorful. I have a hard time imagining Mr Samuelson accepting that kind of meal in a food competition
First off, the food and atmosphere was beautiful. Food was damn near perfect. The service outside of our waitress was also excellent but that is a huge part of our experience. I don't remember her name, but her service was terrible. I saw her being nice and welcoming with some others but it seemed like she had an issue with us. We didn't even ask her for much of nothing. We wasn't running her around, talking rudely or being difficult. Servers brought our food as well as our empty plates(they were more pleasant than she). She forgot to bring our drinks and water. We asked for take home boxes and never did. One of our servers brought them. My lady use to wait tables so she's very sensitive to providing a healthy tip but the sister already included 20% gratuity for two people. When I questioned her if it was mandatory, she lied and said yes with an attitude. On the site, it clearly states gratuity is added for 6 or more people. Her service was nowhere worth 20% of our bill. Salute to all the other employees but that person ruined it. And I later found out from my lady that when asked to wait on us by the hostess, she was very reluctant but it was her turn. Smh... If I knew that prior, I would have left. Food is great but if you decide to go, watch who your waitress is.
This was my first time coming to this restaurant. I saw it online and decided to give it a try first of all the drive to Miami is ridiculous. However, this experience didn’t make it any more worth it. The food was just okay.. Not what I expected, meaning I expected more. The cornbread I was looking forward to trying was dry, cold and hard. The atmosphere was great with the jazz player minus the fact that the lady singing was mad loud. the server could barely hear us and we could barely hear her. She seemed to be rushing like she was late for something. If we asked for something, before we could finish, she was bout to take off. The cost was not worth the service or the food. Took so long for anything to get to us. All in all, For me, Issa no. But thanks ;)
Today was my 4th visit to Red Rooster, the first 2 were amazing, but the last two not so much with today be the worst and last. We got there about 15 mins before our reservation. I think there were maybe 4 tables occupied when we got there. It took a lot of talk and back and forth for them to finally seat us. Not sure if it was because they couldn’t decide which open table to pick for us. We had the brunch, there was no other choice. The food was pretty good, not great and not worth the $65 they charge. The service is extremely slow. My daughter literally had to hold her dessert plate in her hand while eating it because it was taking a long time for the dirty plates to be picked up. Again there were like 4 other tables occupied at this time, so there shouldn’t be a reason why it was taking that long for the dirty plates to be removed. I ordered a soda water which I was charged $ 4 for, they would not refill automatically so I asked the waiter for a refill. Imagine my surprise when they charged me for 2 soda waters - no refills. Parking was $ 15 to park in front of the place you are eating which is absurd. The place itself is so amazing, it’s beautiful, welcoming and filled with so much history. It absolutely breaks my heart to see the employees just standing around (not the ones tending to the food at the buffet, they were great). Most of the employees are more interested in in their talks and discussions instead of their customers. It was such a heart breaking experience because I love the place, but when you drop $ 250.00 for 3 people for brunch, you expect a bit more than the bare minimum and being nickled and dimed for everything. The gratuity was also printed big on the bill with all the big %. What for? For someone to pour some water and take their time to pick up the dirty plates? I am sad that this is what Red Rooster has become. It went from my favorite place in Miami to me not having a desire to ever go back there. It’s a real shame. It’s ok to charge premium prices for good food and good service, but you can’t charge premium prices and provide mediocre food and service.
My kids and I just moved to Miami due to my job, and we decided to go out for Thanksgiving dinner this year since we don’t have any family and friends in the area. We were so excited, but our experience was extremely disappointing. We decided to sit outside. It started to rain so the roofing system was used and it failed horribly. Water was pouring in despite the roof being used. We moved our table inward so we didn’t get wet, as the water was pouring in mostly on the perimeter. That was better. But then it started to flood slightly. I’d say there was about 1–2 inches of water on the floor. I asked my kids if they wanted to move inside, but they actually enjoyed hearing the water while not actually getting wet, so we stayed. The deal breaker was when we saw 3–5 of the largest roaches we have ever seen in our lives just 2 feet away from where we were eating. First I let my waiter know, he killed one of them. Then I let the person who was pushing the water down the drain know, and he killed another. Eventually I just let management know and she moved us inside. She gave me 25% off our bill because of the bad experience. Honestly, that wasn’t even enough. I feel like our Thanksgiving was ruined. We couldn’t even enjoy the food like we wanted. I was so excited about the food here and was extremely disappointed. We likely won’t be coming back.
I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it’s not for me. The brunch menu is subpar at best. There is a nice variety of options but the quality and flavors are lacking. As a Georgia girl I can be a tough critic when it comes to grits and soul food, so this just didn’t cut it. The fruit platter and steak were the best parts, but for the price it was not worth it at all!
Although I was excited to try this restaurant, I was extremely disappointed. Things started well. We were greeted warmly and seated before our reservation time. The server was ok, she seemed very bored and not very friendly; then it started to rain. The rain started to leak into the building and it started to flood the part of the restaurant we were in. We received our food and the sides were lukewarm and not seasoned well. My salmon was delicious but I was not able to finish it because the water was rising where we were seated. No one came to move us so we went to the hostess stand and asked to be moved. Our server practically deserted us for about 20 minutes. It took another 20 minutes to get dessert and speak with a manager. The manager, Charlotte was nice but I had to ask to be compensated for the food we were not able to finish due to the flooding. She only compensated us for half of one entree. I was very disappointed in the food, the service and the fact that the room we were in flooded. I would not return nor would I recommend Red Rooster Overtown.
Very disappointing. Had reservation at 6:15, was sat at 7:45 and took another 30 min for first course to arrive. I understand restaurants can be busy/backed up, but the staff were rude when we asked for an update and told me to “chill out.” We never saw waitress again after she took our order. Had to flag down random staff to even get water refill. Even though we waited a very long time, food arrived cold (roasted carrots literally served raw) but somehow ice cream dessert arrived completely melted like a puddle (and with no spoon).
The food left much to be desired. It was obvious there were offerings that were days if not a weeks old. They've also scaled back on portions and selections. Our waitress act as if she had a hearing problem when asked for specific items and she offered waffles that came out freezing cold and inedible. The experience was less than acceptable and totally overpriced. The only saving grace was the Miami vibe and the dj. They also need to get a handle on the fly problem. Do better Red rooster!
This has been one of the worst restaurant that I have been toin a long time. If you want to eat with flies this would be the best place to eat. The floor is sticky. The playes are outside with flies all around it. Most of the food was burnt, the chicken and the catfish was over fried. The shrimp was the only thing that was good on this menu. The waitress never came around to see if we need anything, we was tge one calling her. That place completely ruined my dad's birthday. I will never put my foot back in that place. their brunch should be $30 instead of 65 it is not worth it I would prefer to go to a Chinese buffet anytime instead of Redrooster. Oh did I say we got overcharged if you're looking to have the worst experience ever this would be your place I'm not sure about their dinner but their brunch is the worst ever overcharge for nothing
On Saturday nights this restaurant has a venue called The Shrine that’s supposed to be an Afro beat atmosphere club. I made a reservation and sent a deposit to get a table and bottle service for my wife’s birthday. When we arrived, they tried to give us a table “not a section “ in the middle of the walkway twice. The waitress named Joy was very rude and unprofessional. They didn’t try to accommodate us and the communication was awful. I never got my deposit back and they wasn’t really helpful to us. We decided to leave because of the horrible customer service. The so called section they tried to give us was small and surrounded by the crowd. I even asked to upgrade the section and willing to pay extra. The waitress Joy is horrible at table service. We never got anything we wanted to pay for. I don’t recommend The Shrine for table and bottle service. This is not the Miami night life that I know. Very disappointing and will never return to the club or restaurant again.
This was my second time here and I have to say this was not the best experience. The staff added in extra charges and didn’t communicate with us prior to adding them in. The manager then also stated we did a toast and she “saw us on camera” and we didn’t do any toasts. The price that we paid we would have had a better experience elsewhere. It’s unfortunate that these people don’t understand how to provide proper customer service. I will not be returning again.
Disappointing Experience and Unacceptable Charges. Visited Red Rooster on January 11 to celebrate my father’s birthday with my siblings—the first time we’ve all been together in nearly 8 years. Based on the great reviews, we expected much more. The “buffet” was misleading—it was only a breakfast buffet, and the food quality was poor. There were many flies around the buffet and dessert area, which was very concerning. Portions were extremely small (mini waffles), and most of the food was not enjoyable. The biggest issue was the service and billing. We ordered bottomless drinks, but the waitress never explained that drinks could not be shared. My father took a single sip from my brother’s drink, and the manager later claimed there was a “family toast,” which never happened. We were then charged an additional $300. We paid to avoid ruining my father’s birthday, but the charge felt dishonest and unfair. Overall, the food, cleanliness, service, and billing practices were unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We visit Red Roosters frequently but did not like the paid parking or the enormous gratuities. So we decided to order our meal to go! BIG MISTAKE!!! Food was placed in cardboard containers, the chicken was wet from the sides… the chicken usually comes with breasts…we got a wing and thigh!! We had to ASK them to take off the $15 gratuity charge as we placed the order to go! It was a good expediter time around but they will not miss our business because will it be returning!!!!! Many other black owned businesses that offer great service, delicious food and priced to go!! We will rather support them!!
The shrine on Sat if I could give this place 0 stars honestly I would . This was one of the worst experiences that I have ever had at any club. My server was Joy she was horrible she was rude very hard to communicate with she just didn’t have any type of customer service skills at all . We reserved a table through a text msg we were giving the promoters number by the restaurant we originally reserved the table for a party of 2 with one bottle . We paid $50 to hold our table . Once we arrived they did knowledge our reservation but they did not have good seating available for a small party. We politely asked to be moved because the table they set us at was in the middle of a walk way people kept bumping the table and sitting on the edges of the lounge chairs the table was very rocky it wasn’t stable . We were told by joy that we couldn’t move because we only had a party of 2 and had to spend more money we even agreed to spend more money so that we could get a more comfortable setting but joy kept saying they didn’t have any more seats when we clearly could see that they did . So we decided to leave because joy was just so rude and no help at all . As we were leaving management came to talk to us he ended up finding us a different table once we got back upstairs even after the manger moved us joy kept walking by our table did not acknowledge us once she finally came over the only thing she could say was who set you here . I’m not sure if management even communicated with her or if joy just wasn’t listening to her team leads the manger set us at this table and made it seem like everything would be all good but it still wasn’t . Joy then tells us ok y’all can sit here for a lil bit once the bottle is done I’m going to flip your table so basically we would have to move mind you at this point it’s almost 1am . Even after the manger moved us joy just kept saying that we had to spend more money to sit here because we only had a party of two . The crazy part about this whole thing we were willing to spend money at this place that was never the problem smh we just wanted to be comfortable at our table . I have never had to chase down service when trying to spend my money at any place. We wasted a whole hour trying to chase down this server for service and getting the run around by management. At this point we had canceled 3 Ubers because management guaranteed us that everything would be OK but Every time we went back upstairs joy just kept giving us a hard time . I’m not understanding why joy made this so complicated. Honestly having a server like this is very bad for any type of business !!!! Also the $50 that we paid to reserve our section we never got back smh . Through this all we still didn’t get service we ended up leaving we wasted so much time and energy trying to spend OUR money to have a good time at this place . I would not recommend this place at all please save your energy your time and money .
