In November 2025 my husband and I had a delicious 5 star meal at Stella D'Oro. We just returned from an incredible trip to Italy and found quality Italian food just minutes from our home! What made the evening exceptional was the quiet, romantic setting and also our amazing waiter. Esmir was friendly and very accommadating. We highly recommend Stella D'oro in Middletown CT!
Fresh seafood, delicious margarita (none of that sour mix junk), great service!! 10/10
This was a five star for me. I really enjoyed everything about this establishment. The service was outstanding, the food delicious, and the price was good. I would recommend trying this restaurant out if your in the area of Middletown, Ct.
You feel the classic Italian restaurant environment as you walk in. The menu has plenty of variety. The food was excellent. I ate the Scallop & Shrimp fra Diavolo, my wife had the Cavatelli and she loved it. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful dinner here celebrating my son's birthday. Fine Italian dining at its best! There were 6 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. The veal was outstanding; as was the lobster ravioli. Portions were generous; desserts were delicious. Service was attentive and professional; yet we never felt rushed. A hidden gem in Middletown; don't miss it!
Couldn’t think of a nicer environment. Me and my girlfriend went to get dinner here and the waiter was the nicest dude I’ve ever seen, no complaints whatsoever. Amazing food, amazing service!
Beautiful all the way around. We felt like we were back in little Italy. Nicky the waiter was Ten Stars Great. The food was as authentic as it gets. Mama Mia what a wonderful experience. 🤟🤟
Great food. I had the shrimp in pasta (which they call something else that I can’t recall). Ordered it sans capers which the waitress immediately said would be no problem (it wasn’t). My wife had veal francaise. Both were excellent. A little tiramisu and we called it a night. Waitress was perfect and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Highly recommend.
We had a fantastic lat lunch at this Italian restaurant and were especially impressed with our server, Esmir—he was awesome and really on top of everything throughout the night. The service made the experience that much better. The food was excellent across the board. The chicken parm was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the pasta with calamari was absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, and they even went out of their way to make my son a pasta vodka, which he loved. Portions were generous, and although we didn’t have room for dessert, everything we tried was spot on. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we received. We’ll definitely be back!
I went in early weekend, great staff!! Some of my order wasn't on the menu but they accommodated. The bread and italian oil with the... pesto? Was yummy....,The app calamari was very good, great marinara dipping sauce, fried perfectly, great peppers!! The chicken picata was perfect. I can't wait to go back.
Stopped by here for lunch on a Friday. The place was empty but the lone waiter immediately sprung into action and have us seated. The architecture inside is quite unique. The waiter told us this used to be an opera house when it first opened 50 years ago. Given that we are the only table in the restaurant, I wasn't sure if the food is good. They brought out a basket of warm toasted breads. I ordered the Pasta e Fagioli (Italian bean soup) and it was delicious. The soup was full of fresh ingredients, with fresh vegetables, beans, small slices of pancetta. For main course, I had the Cavatelli, served with sausage, broccoli rabe, cherry peppers. The broth was thin and not oily. It has just the right amount of saltiness and acidity. The pasta was perfectly cooked to al dente. My mom ordered the Mediterranean salad with arugula and goat cheese. She also enjoyed her dish. I will definitely come back and try their dinner menu.
A wonderful dining experience. We were immediately welcomed and decided to go to the bar for happy hour where Nikki took care of us. He was attentive and has a great personality and gave us recommendations for food. The lemon drop cocktail was light and refreshing, perfect for July and all of the food we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend the Stella chicken. A balance of seafood flavor and with perfectly tender shrimp in a light sauce. Also try the eggplant rollatini was full of ricotta and mozzarella cheese and you could taste how fresh the marinara sauce is!
This was girls night out and we always pick somewhere new. Let me tell you that Stella D'oro did NOT disappoint!! The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The food was AMAZING (just look at those pictures), and our bartender/server was so kind, funny and professional. I have a food allergy and he explained every meal is made fresh so there wasn't one thing on the menu I couldn't order that they couldn't accommodate. That was mind blowing to me and very much appreciated! There are also options for everyone with specific diet needs. We got there early around 515 and had no issues getting a table bit as we were leaving around 7 the place was starting to fill up. If you have a table of 4 or more I highly recommend making a reservation. Overall, this will 100% be a place we will be returning to. There literally isn't one bad thing I could say.
We were trying to figure out where to go to lunch the other day as we drove by the old Tuscany Grille in Middletown. We realized it was open again with a new name and new owners (and a fresh face-lift). We thought we'd give it a try and we are happy that we did. The family that own it are always on site. Our server was a family member and manager (we sat at the very nice bar). His name was Emir. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. The ambiance was great, and we enjoyed Italian music in the background. They did a great job decorating. They kept their outdoor seating area, which is in a courtyard (not on Main St like most restaurants in Middletown). There is also a free parking lot, which is a rarity on Main St. We started off with an appetizer unlike any we've had before. Two lightly fried triangles of Buffalo mozzarella covered with sautéed onions, prosciutto and mushrooms...finished in a light cognac sauce. Excellent. I must say I enjoyed one of the tastiest mediterranean entries I've ever had in any restaurant. The Veal Sorrentino was superb. Scallopini topped with prosciutto, eggplant, and fontina cheese in a light brown sauce with a touch of marinara. Wow! The sharpness of that fontina cheese (and the contrast it provided) was the perfect compliment to this dish. I'll be back to try the eggplant parmesan (not on the menu but we were told they could make almost anything for us...right!!??). No breading on the eggplant...very light and tasty. The chicken parmesan was incredible as well, covered in a marinara containing plentiful garlic and chunks of bright red San Marzano tomatoes. An impressive dessert list (I had the amazing pistachio cream pie) was then presented to us to top off a perfect meal.
I had made a reservation for 5 a week prior to the dinner I had last night, and as soon as we arrived there were no signs of a reserved table for us. Instead we were SQUEEZED into a table for 4 that had no elbow room at the booth and it was incredibly hard to get up or sit down without knocking both your table and another table. I was given an apology by the host but it was frustrating to see other customers being accommodated and we were not when I had a reservation. While the food was jaw droppingly good - the best Italian I had in Middletown - I was not given a dessert that was ordered and I asked for my food to be boxed up and to my surprise, when I got home, my food was not in the bag placed at the table. The service was lacking at this place for a Saturday night. As a paying customer, to not have 60% of my meal wrapped up to enjoy at home is frustrating, and having things my family ordered forgotten is not a great feeling when you are paying for the service. While the staff was pleasant, they lacked in providing a special evening for a special occasion. I recommend for a casual dinner, not for a special occasion unless you want things to not go as planned. Quite disappointing.
We (and probably at least a dozen or two of other couples) had a reservation for 7:30pm on Valentine’s Day. We weren’t seated until 8:30pm and the staff was not asking for names - basically if you didn’t go to the front, someone in a later time slot could have been seated before us (witness a 7:45 reservation couple almost get seated because they didn’t check if there were more 7:30 couples in line). We were served drinks and bread once seated and our appetizer order was taken. We waited. Nothing came out. We placed our entre orders. Still nothing. An hour and thirty/forty minutes later we were finally served our appetizer and then after more waiting, our entrees. We spent 3 hours inside this restaurant just to be fed at 10/10:20pm when we arrived at 7:30. We were going to walk out but I knew we’d have a hard time finding a table without a reservation somewhere else. They comped our appetizer in the end. I was disappointed that so many people were expecting to be seated with a reservation at their reservation times and instead we had to stand and wait, and then sit and wait some more because the staff couldn’t keep up with the number of guests. Please consider limiting reservations next time so that your customers enjoy their experience. Your staff was busting their butts to accommodate everyone, that was evident.
