A cozy shop with a farm house style design. Plenty of seating for those wanting to sot and enjoy their cup of coffee. The staff is nice and fast with their service. I ordered the Eggnog latte, which was not too sweet, and flavorful. I also got the Coffee Cake donut that was warmed up and tasted pretty good.
Hands down some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. 11 out of 10!!! The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. I worked from the cafe for hours and felt completely relaxed the entire time. Time flew by. Highly recommend this coffee spot!
Amazing peeps! I absolutely love Sophia and Ella, even though Sophia wants to metaphorically throw hands because she’s team Edward and not Jacob..ITS FINE THOUGH. Sophia made me an absolutely scrumptious pumpkin purée latte. And Ella was so sweet and patient with me when I was ordering. I always love coming into this cafe, but these girls made my day!
First time here. Place was very busy on a Thursday morning. We ordered bagel and Nutella Croissant, everything was good and coffee refills for a $1 more.
Came here on a Sunday for the first time and enjoyed my Breakfast: Service: 9/10 really nice manager- maybe owner walked us through the menu and helped us order the best pastries and coffee beverages. Some guy took one of our coffees so had to wait to get the second. Pastry/Croissant: 10/10 got a doughnut, desert toaster pastry, and an Almond Croissant. All were fantastic and they heated them up first to perfection. Egg/Omelette: 9/10 got a breakfast burrito with egg potato, cheese and spinach. It was on the smaller side but was delicious. Coffee: 9/10 got a Latte and it tasted perfect the only thing I’d change is since I was dining in, would have liked it in a cozy mug Vs a to go cup Location: 9/10 easy to find and park in Mission Viejo. Ambience/View: 8/10 cute inside with some subtle music playing. A couple small tables outside but would be very close to the parking lot and no views outside. Menu: 9/10 great choices for some simple breakfast and pastry items. Customized the coffee with almond or oat milk and plenty of great beverages. Price: 10/10 very reasonable pricing on the lower end and would be a place you could go any morning.
I walked here at a busy hour since I was working at the farmers market nearby and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The drinks were very well-priced and the atmosphere was relaxing. The drinks took a little long to make but it makes complete sense since I did come here at 9:30 which is busy time. The drinks were pretty good, I got the peppermint mocha and I would get it again.
Sweet and delicious! I’m on a quest to find the coziest and most delicious coffee shops in Orange County, and I have so many wonderful things to say about this place. First, the warm almond croissant is a must try! Dip the croissant in your latte and you’ll be in love ❤️. I got a honey cinnamon latte and the level of sweetness was perfect. I don’t like for my coffee to be too sweet, but I don’t like it black either, and this coffee was perfect! I also tried the spinach burrito. I love that they cut the burritos in small pieces. That’s honestly a brilliant idea because then you’re not stuck with a whole burrito! Plus, it gives you room to try a pastry :). The environment is cute and cozy as well. I love the antique art. I will be going back and can’t wait!
California is getting spoiled by lovely coffee places. I noticed High Ground Coffee House last week, and I had a chance to try a coffee there today. It was a very lovely fall-inspired latte that I liked. The interior is cozy and friendly. I wish they were open for another hour, so I could stay there and enjoy this place more.
Neat little coffee spot, one with a mom-and-pop type of feel to it, they have variety of drinks and options for a little side bread etc .. I like the vibe to it and seems like a lot of the locals know each other here, it's a neat spot worth visiting rather than corporate chain companies out there.
looove this cafe! it’s awesome. comfy chairs. i don’t drink coffee but i love cafes (ironic i know) but they were so kind to make me a mocha frappe without coffee (yes basically a milkshake) well it was great and i highly recommend it. i spent the whole afternoon here editing photos comfortably! thanks!
Morning gratitude for High Ground Coffeehouse ☕️✨ Always kind, always welcoming. They made my son a chocolate milk with such care this morning, and their attention to details meant more than they know.
Anthony made us a real legit cold brew! The girls also great customer service I highly recommend this spot
I’m surprised nobody talks about the quality of the coffee here. Of course the atmosphere feels like home and a place you can just exist at for a few hours, of course the location is great, of course the staff is friendly. That’s obvious, but the coffee is top tier. Way better than it has a right to be considering how damned honey it is. And they don’t even brag about it. Here they are this perfect little coffee shop quietly serving the best iced Spanish latte in Orange County and I’ve tried them all. Unfortunately they’re slightly out of my way and I work nights so I don’t get them often and I don’t have a picture, but this is the coffee I tell stories about, the coffee that I literally write home about, the coffee that I dream of when I choke down another bitter espresso from Starbucks or another sugary barely coffee from Dutch. Miss you guys and hopefully I’ll see you soon.
Got the most delicious dirty london fog and blueberry muffin, prices were great and the quality was right on point. The staff were friendly and the shop has a nice warm vibe. Will be back
I love this place. My wife and I go at least once a week. The coffee is great and my gluten free muffin is always a treat. The staff is super nice and there many regulars we got to know.
Yummy food, great service, and nice atmosphere! We had the chicken Piccata, a veggie pizza, and the chopped salad. The chicken was so juicy and had a great flavor. The pizza tasted very good and was topped with lots of veggies. The chopped salad was plentiful and tasted very fresh. Our server was extremely nice and attentive. We will be back soon!
Busy Veterans Day dinner. CPK has a nice veteran selection of entrees and salads that come with a drink. I had the BBQ Chicken Pizza and ordered a Thai Crunch salad to share. Both were tasty and hearty. Took a couple of slices of pizza and half the salad to-go. Since it was busy (20-minute wait), we sat at the bar for immediate service. The wait dissipated, then peaked again as we left. The bar tender was nice, conversational and attentive. They have sports on but it was a college basketball game that wasn't very exciting.
This place is a favorite because the food is consistently good and service is friendly and prompt. Prices are reasonable, they have a rewards program and a kids menu. They had an amazing promo with every entree you purchase you have the option of buying a take and bake pizza home for $8. Took home the mushroom with thin crust ( for thin crust it’s $1.50 more) and pepperoni with regular crust. Will be doing this again as they were delicious and better than a frozen pizza.
Our car club JHF all stopped here for lunch after one of our events - we had a big group, but they were able to manage all of us ! Service was great! Food was wonderful - we had the lunch specials and one of the guys had a pizza that was a name of a sandwich - photo shown here. He loved it! Great food! Fun place to stop and have lunch and a cold beer!
Very cozy and interesting coffee shop. They have board games, sketchbooks to flip through (reading other people’s drawings was really fun), and even a collection of postcards that customers have mailed to them over the years. It feels like a sweet community spot with more than 10 years of history. The coffee was okay — pretty standard. Unfortunately, toward the end of our visit the atmosphere became a bit uncomfortable due to a loud humming noise, likely from a fridge or machine, which gave us a headache and made us leave early. I’d still come back for a quick visit, especially for the charm and character of the place.
Nice selection of pizzas, pastas, and salads, as well as a couple of soups. Friendly staff. Comfortable partly-covered patio dining, as well as indoor tables.
The quality of the ingredients can definitely be improved. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, even towards the end of their work day. The staff and chef were very caring and careful about allergy and dietary restrictions. The atmosphere can be improved by nicer music selection and upgraded lighting, perhaps.
Overall, good food. CPK has always been a bit pricey. The chipotle chicken pizza was good, but one of the chicken slices was just gristle. The avocado eggrolls are always amazing. CPK has the best out of any restaurant I’ve been to. Our server was polite, but it would’ve been nice if she had offered to refill our drinks
Mom passed away on 12/6 and after leaving the hospital we were all in a state of shock. Not much was open so we decided to go to California Pizza Kitchen and God has his hand it that too just as he does with everything. A wonderful server named Trish recognizer our grief and immediately we felt her love. We explained mom's suffering was over and she was so caring and compassionate and shared about her mom passing. What a beautiful heart and blessings. We all had margaritas with chips and guacamole and then each ordered an entree while sharing stories about mom. The time spent reminiscing about mom was invaluable and the love we felt from Trish and her team was Godsent. The food was good, drinks great and service superb. Highly recommended 👌 ❤️
I am a long time customer of High Ground. I visit at least 2x week and have for years. Sadly, the service has really taken a nose dive over the last couple of months. Very unfriendly people working, often acting put out just to take your order. I visited today, Aug 14th around 4 pm (an hour and a half before closing). They were already preparing to close and told me the blender "didn't work", they had no drip coffee, and had already cleared out the pastry cabinet, so I couldn't order a treat either. To the owner: The new people you have working for you are costing you money, not only was I unable to order the food and coffee I wanted, I'll also likely look for a new coffee shop because I'm sick of the sub-par service. It's a shame. I used to really love this place. :(
The coffee is OK, but there’s some sort of machine inside the dining area of this coffee shop. That is so loud you can’t even sit and have a conversation. I think it is the food display case it is incredibly loud and annoying.
As an international family, we firmly believe that we possess a unique advantage over the general consensus, with a wide array of reference points at our disposal. The opening of CPK in 1985 brought us immense joy. However, in 2021, faced with the challenges of the previous year, they made the decision to franchise in order to survive. While this was a clever move, it has resulted in us having to contend with unscrupulous owners who prioritize profit over quality. This has led to a decline in the ingredients used, such as the absence of eggplants and the substitution of zucchini, as well as a lack of flavor in the dishes due to skimpy portions of key components like sun-dried tomatoes and onions. One can see the scanty slivers of onions, and when I request oregano, etc. same. Dear consumer, remember YOU bring the business, it is your hard earned dollar. Don't stay quiet. Speak up and ask for what is just! Don't let them cheat you.
This is mu first time at CPK, and I did not enjoy the food there, 4 on 4 for there ambience, service and energy, but the pizza is not that delightful. We ordered roasted garlic pizza on cauliflower crust , tomato basil and passion mango cooler. The server for the evening was Joey and he was good with his work. Made sure he check on us. Coming back to food I was expecting it to be 10 on 10 as I had gone through many reviews. I felt like the pizza was bland with no taste or flavor. I agree that I wanted to try a new pizza topping but I expect it to flavourful, the tomato basil soup bowl was large with just a cup of soup. The soup was good with proper seasonings but not the quantity. We selected shrimp scampi for our try and bake pizza and I still did not find it to be flavorful and taste. I better go to pizzeria or even to dominos . Not to my expectations though 😐
First time customer. I ordered a latte and turkey sandwich. I went to eat the sandwich but there was an intense smell as soon as I opened the package and I quickly discovered mold on the turkey. Yuck. I will not be returning.
This morning, I was so excited to go to High Grounds Coffee. When I arrived, I was happily checking out the pastries, trying to decide what to order. The young woman at the register abruptly asked, “Okay, are you ready to order?” I said yes and even asked for her recommendation, but she was short, rude, and overall off-putting. I tried to brush it off and stay polite. I had a gift card in my hand - turns out it was for the wrong coffee shop (High Tide instead of High Grounds). She said, “Just so you know, your gift card is for High Tide, this is High Grounds.” I laughed it off and said, “Oh my goodness, that’s okay, let me just grab my wallet.” As I started walking to my car, she called out, “So do you still want to order with us? High Tide is just up the road in Laguna Hills if you want to go there instead.” Caught off guard, I said, “Yes, of course, I’m here, I already put in my order, I just need to grab my wallet.” But at that point, I was so put off by her attitude that I picked up my son and said, “You know what, just cancel my order. I don’t want to order with you.” The whole interaction was just unnecessarily rude, not the kind of energy you need when you’re just trying to grab a coffee before a long day at work.
I wanted to share feedback on a recent delivery from the Mission Viejo location (Order #40982782387273729). Unfortunately, the order did not arrive as requested, and this has become a recurring issue rather than a one-time mistake. As an Elite rewards member and frequent customer, this was especially frustrating. When I called, the manager said he would “look into what happened,” but there was no resolution or consideration offered at the time. I ultimately had to place and pay for another order to resolve the issue myself. I value CPK and want to continue ordering, but I do expect better consistency and a more customer-focused response when something goes wrong.
On September 31st I took my family (party of four) to this establishment for lunch. After the initial greeting, our waitress stated she was going on her break. This waitress stood by the kitchen area for over 15 minutes playing on her cell phone. After nearly 30 minutes her replacement (Pablo) finally took our order. This was not entirely his fault, as he had a large table of at lease 10 he was servicing, plus additional customers. Once our meals were served, Pablo never came back to check on us or refill our beverages. The initial waitress returned to wait on nearby customers, but never checked on us. We hailed down Pablo and asked him on two occasions to refill our beverages, which he forgot and never did. Today my wife called and asked to speak with the Manager (Anthony). He asked how often we frequented his restaurant and said he would speak to his employees. He apologized, but offered nothing for the extremely poor service. I will be contacting their corporate office. Check #20008 - $59.21
I do NOT recommend ever getting take out here. Almost every time we order takeout, they get something wrong or the quality is awful. IE, little to no salad dressing, little to no sauce on the pasta, etc.. For example, this photo is their spaghetti Bolognese. And believe me, there is no sauce under the pasta either. $22 for spaghetti that has a slight tomato stain 😁.
